As a new mom, you may be wondering how often and how much to feed your baby. Your baby wil give you signs to let you know when they are hungry and full. It may take some time, but you'll learn exactly what these signs are. Sucking fingers, fists, rooting, moving & wriggling, rapid eye movements are all signs that your baby is getting ready for a feed. Feeding at this stage is ideal as baby is still calm and will attach to the breast effectively. Crying is the last sign of hunger and by then baby maybe too distressed to feed effectively. SIGNS YOUR BABY IS FULL It's important to let your baby nurse until they're full. Some signs that babies are done eating are: -Baby releases or "falls off" your breast. -Baby turns away from your nipple. -Baby relaxes their body and opens their fists. If your baby finishes eating on one breast and seems full, try burping your baby and changing their diaper (if needed), then offer the other breast. If your baby doesn't seem interested or doesn't want to latch, they may not be hungry anymore. Some babies may eat from both sides at every feeding, while others may only eat from one side. #breastfeeding #breastfeedingweek #breastfeedingmom #breastfeedinginpublic #breastfeedingmama #breastfeedingjourney #breastfeedingsupport #breastfeedingtips #breastfeedingawareness #breastfeedingtoddler #breastfeedingclothes #breastfeedingessentials #breastfeedingdiet #breastfeedingproblems #breastfeedingcover #breastfeedingnutrition #breastfeedingmommies https://www.instagram.com/p/CU-Vff_q-Sq/?utm_medium=tumblr

NUTRITION AND PREGNANCY 〰️ It kind of goes without saying that pregnancy 👶🏻 and nursing 🤱 require adequate nutrition (Dr. Brewer states 200-500 extra calories during pregnancy and as much as 1000 during breastfeeding)…after all, the body is growing a new human life while also working to sustain yours. 〰️ 👎🏻 Any attempt to stay “lean” during pregnancy would be at the detriment of both mama 🙋🏻‍♀️ and baby 👶🏻. Let’s take a look at the importance of nutrition at each trimester. 〰️ 1️⃣st TRIMESTER: It is very important to eat in a way to regulate stress (cortisol) and blood sugar to prevent ketosis (the accumulation of ketones in the blood, from the breakdown of the mothers body fat). As well as to help minimize morning sickness, promote blood volume expansion and tissue building (making baby cells and uterine muscle cells). 〰️ 2️⃣nd TRIMESTER: During this time eating right is very important to promote optimal placental development. The placenta is the organ which nourishes the baby from the earliest weeks of pregnancy. A multi-service organ, it works as the baby's stomach, liver, kidneys, and lungs until the moment of birth. 〰️ 3️⃣rd TRIMESTER: During this phase the focus is on fluid reserves for labor and the nourishment of the placenta. It is also during this time that the bulk of baby’s growth occurs making it important for mama to up her calories even more than in the first and second trimester (450-500). 〰️ The best time to begin cleaning up your nutrition and preparing your body for a successful pregnancy is 6 months to 1 year before conception if not sooner depending on your state of health. Healthy weight gain should be expected and not something to avoid. 〰️ 👉🏻👉🏻 Unhealthy or rapid weight gain along with other symptoms such as elevated blood pressure, headaches, nausea, loss of blood volume, etc are signs of preeclampsia and other common pregnancy complications resulting from poor or unbalanced nutrition - nothing more! . . #pregnancynutrition #nutritionandpregnancy #dontcutcalories #firsttrimester #secondtrimester #thirdtrimester #placentahealth #eatforyourbaby #babiesneedfood #breastfeedingforlife #breastfeedingnutrition #thyroidnutrition https://www.instagram.com/p/BwR_hK6AdKN/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=qgh0xk3cw0zs
