#context:#after Bortom city recognized Beatrix as a threat and began persecuting her‚ she became widely known #A great reward would be given to those who captured the runaway android‚ and most people feared her.#To sum it up‚ she was alone in her journey and refusing to trust anyone so easily.#The persecutions got worse when more cities allied themselves with Bortom. This attracted robot hunters.#At some point‚ Beatrix met this golden-eyed‚ humanoid shadow that always seemed to watch her from afar #It wouldn't stop following her‚ until it was close enough to initiate a confrontation #Beatrix was basically FED UP with the persecutions and so she fought using her fists... while he had a gun.#The bullets couldn't cause great damage‚ and were actually microchips designed to stunt robotic enemies #Beatrix barely resisted the effects and managed to take down the other... who raised its hands in defeat.#Imagine the situation: She's literally got him on the ground‚ fist raised to deliver a powerful blow while he's SHAKING IN HIS BOOTS #Turns out the microchips take effect‚ and Beatrix attempts to escape before it's too late... But her systems go off abruptly #...Then she wakes up in this cozy workshop of sorts. She goes outside and BOOM!!!#A ship moved by machinery? Robots living peacefully? People walking past her without batting an eye? This must be a dream!#She's finally found Fusionsprunt (or was found but it). Honestly, I made that joke about Van’s ancient desktop, but it probably works better than new computers. And it made me think: god, Van must HATE planned obsolescence. Stuff that’s built to die? Stuff that’s built to fall apart in a matter of years just to force you to buy more? For a person whose whole deal is gripping tight to the past, to old technology that still works perfectly fine, to the idea of survival threaded through everything from the stories she tells to the machines she rents out? Yeah, dude. No wonder she hates her cell phone. Not only does it force the illusion of connection without actually granting intimacy, but it’s doomed from the minute you take the thing out of the box. For Van, the very idea has got to be offensive.

#song of the day #this one also played in the car yesterday while we were picking up Duncan and it got me thinking #what is my favorite line from this song? there are so many killer bars and everyone's delivery is so good #the way Dessa's voice tips down and the backings kick in as she wraps 'and all of Olympus is laughing / til we go and split the atom'#or I really like the shape of 'we built this city on coal and gold'#and towards the end of the song there's 'automate the operator' with that crackly static 'can you hear me clearly' behind it. love that #but I think probably my favorite is the third verse. the way it stacks up the way the emphasis falls and the lovely metaphor of it #'isn't it marvelous - just darling - it's the newest thing / it's totally harmless - but it's charming - it's the cutest thing #but it bites - not hard - just hard enough to break the skin / and your bones / and your back / and the bank #but wait - it comes with a warranty / for a week and that's respectable / it's cheap and it's ethical #well it's ethical / well it's magical really / see you put the cash in the till - fill in the blanks - that's it #for my next trick I'll need your password - and an exit / and then poof! I love the internet people who love sbc (single board computer/Chinese handheld emulator) gaming and make themes and overlays for specific shit

Like this looks cool as hell and all I had to do was download the config file and the png and just plonk it into the archive manager in muos and it basically did itself when I swapped it to integer scale

#the gba core has a built in gba sp overlay #it’s so fucking cool that my crime gba sp says gba sp #and I have boot logos that say gameboy it’s so fucking cool #I put in custom box art for the rom hacks in my romset #it’s great #did some of them not take yeah i fucked up the name on one so it can’t tell what the png is #and do a handful not have entries on launchbox? yeah #I can’t figure out how to make a jpeg into a PNG #I don’t care that much it’s like 3 maybe in my collection of um hundreds of roms #the ones I care more about and play more have their art #so I don’t care about the handful I can’t get fixed up

I do genuinely enjoy a good speedrun of "hello new guild nice name what do you mean when you say this is a 'casual' guild?" to "here is a list of things I suggest we change!" to flouncing.

No, seriously. It's so much better than these issues lingering for weeks as that one new person pokes and pries to change the culture away from "I'm here to play a game, not work yet another job".

I'm open to changing if the guild as a whole wants, but we're here instead of some hyper-competitive guild FOR A REASON.

I am a filthy casual, and I'm still dedicated enough to have 3 million GP more than New Guy. You'd think they'd realize that means this is not my first rodeo, and I'm not going to be easy to walk all over.

#i go back to work tomorrow #a thing happened before i left for holidays mid-december that's had me dreading it my whole time off #it was a wonderful holiday and while we were traveling i didn't think of it during the day and the anxiety only came out in dreams #but yesterday and today it's become pretty unbearable #i wish i wouldn't give mental space to someone who likely hasn't had me cross their mind since crushing me under their boot heel but #i'm just not built that way #it likely does not help that last night i was ill and threw up my anxiety medication #:/#it's fine I'm just.#hoping that the dreading of it is the worst part #personal #emiliana posts personal things
