Zorita was a real American burlesque performer of the early 20th century. Zorita was pioneer of goth fashion and bisexual icon whose acts included gender bending as well as her pet pythons.
I used the linoleum I originally carved for a Zorita inspired show poster last year to hand print canvas bags especially for this year’s fantastic Dutch Burlesque Festival and now I have a few leftover to share 😘🖤

The difference between burlesque and the newspapers is that the former never pretended to be performing a public service by exposure.

Part - 3
Summery: Billy and Stu have been planning these murders for quite some time. Everything is going to plan until you show up. What happens when they meet someone who is just as mentally deluded as they are?
Pairing: poly!ghostface x fem!reader
Warnings for this series: murder, blood, smut (will be more in depth on smut chapters), power dynamics, a dash of sexism, knives, stalking, perverse behavior, cheating, masturbation
Part 1
Tumblr media
Billy normally did this sort of thing with Stu. He had a feeling his friend would be upset that he went alone. That's something he'd have to deal with later. Your room was on the second floor with no obvious way up to the window. If you were the only one home he'd find a way in. With current company that wasn't exactly possible. Binoculars, cellphone, and his trusty voice changer, were all he had to work with. Doing this sort of thing without a knife was unusual.
He positioned himself where he could see your bed and the posters adorning the walls. Rear window, The Birds, Vertigo, and Psycho. You were an Alfred Hitchcock fan. "And Stu said you didn't have good taste in movies." He scoffed. Billy shook his head the binoculars close to his eyes. He watched as you walked in the room towel wrapped around your frame. One foot closed the bedroom door behind you. You looked to the window as you slowly dropped your towel. Did you know he was out here?
That was impossible. It was pitch black outside with the exception of the moon. Billy watched as you pulled the dress from the bag. A smile lit up your face which in turn brought one to his lips. A sense of pride filled Billy's chest knowing he picked it out. Once again your eyes found the window looking out as if someone was right on the other side. Slowly you pulled the fluffy nightgown over your head, the frill dropping right under your ass. Billy's hand slipped down his abdomen resting over his zipper.
You grabbed the matching panties from the bag dragging them up your legs letting the elastic slap your skin. Moving away from the window you looked yourself up and down in the mirror. Billy and Stu knew what they were doing when they bought you the nightgown. You spun letting the dress drift around you. Air seemed to catch in your throat as you got happy. A smile so painful your cheeks hurt, was one of the many indications you were elated with the gift.
The only thing you could think that would make it better was some music. Walking to your records you grabbed the worn out 45 listed under M for Monroe. Lifting the wooden cabinet cover you sat the vinyl down placing the needle in the first groove. Within a second "I wanna be loved by you" filled the room. You mouthed the lyrics as you danced around. That giddy feeling only getting stronger. Your hands slid up and down your body as if you were the best stripper on a Saturday night. It was classy though and Billy took note. The dancing wasn't the best, if you could call it dancing. It was like you were in love with yourself and the world around you. Playing around with the air that filled the room.
Billy started softly rubbing the bulge that began to strain again his dark jeans. His eyes never leaving you as you danced for an audience of one. Your towel dried hair swug around sure to fling left over water. You were his own personal burlesque dancer. Billy's hips grinded up into his palm. The knuckles wrapped around the binoculars began to turn white with his grip. He had no clue what song could make you ooze with such lust but he needed to use it to his advantage. You were walking innocence. Something he lacked throughout his life. You weren't stupid, you were incredibly brilliant. Every move you made it was intentional. You were putting a show just for him.
His hips quickened as the pressure grew. Little whispers of encouragement fell on deaf ears. Billy needed your glossy lips around him. He needed the hem of that frilly little dress to fall over his lap as you bounced happily. He needed... You. "Fuck!" He cursed through gritted teeth. He needed new underwear. "Fuck." He dropped the binoculars by his side to assess the damage you caused. The mess you made. A small damp spot began to make an appearance through the denim next to zipper of his jeans. Ignoring the uncomfortable mess he picked the binoculars back up noticing you were now buttoning up your pajama shirt. "God damnit!"
Now that your little burst of energy was over you were ready to crawl in bed. You switched the record over to something more peaceful, one that would take longer to end. Billy put the binoculars down to focus on the phone number staining his hand. His finger tapped the buttons double checking the numbers before hitting call. He could hear the ear piercing ring all the way outside. Before you could answer he pulled the voice changer from his pocket.
Quickly you leaned over grabbing the phone off the receiver. Placing it right back down with a click. It was too late for anyone to be calling. Billy took a deep breath redialing the number. Once again the phone screamed for your help. "Hello?" You asked politely to Billy's surprise seeing as you were obviously upset at the intrusion. You hoped it was Billy. "Hello.." He spoke not really sure where to go with this one. Well at least you know who it's not. You picked up the phone sitting the receiver on the bed next to you. You got comfortable with the phone resting against to your face. "Hi what's up?" You spoke. No asking 'who is this?' or 'why are you calling?" Maybe you were a little dumb.
"Um-" Billy cleared his throat thinking of a quick response. "The sky." He squeezed his eyes closed in shame. His eyes opened to find you with a smile. A small laugh could be heard over the phone. "Okay smartass what's down?" This was stupid. You were supposed to angry at the caller, suspicious even. Who calls a girl all alone at this hour? "The ground." You laughed clapping your hands. "That's right! Not too bad mystery man. But what do you need? Why'd you call?" Finally.
"What if I just wanted to talk?" You scooted yourself underneath the covers thinking about the caller. "Okay but I'm not doing no weird shit. You can call one those sex hotlines for that." Billy smiled at your assertion. "Fair enough. Who might I be speaking to?" It was a test. You barley gave him a name when you first met he doubted you'd give it to a psychopath on the phone. "I would say we could exchange names but what's the fun in that? I don't know you, you don't know me. What's your favorite song?"
The question was out of left field so much so he wasn't ready for it. "What's yours?" He asked to your disappointment. Billy saw the sad look on your face. "Am I talking to Socrates right now? I asked first." Billy begrudgingly gave out his answer. "1979 by the Smashing Pumpkins. Now what's yours?" You nodded your head at the answer. It seemed fitting. "Oh gosh." You sighed. "I honestly don't have a favorite. And if I did it would change next week. Have you heard Landslide by Fleetwood Mac? It's really popular you probably have." You took a deep breath in. Sighing out the air in one go. "Anyways I really like that one. It's kind of sad though if you think about it."
Billy sat listening to every word you said. "Your turn." He always had the most important question on hand. Billy wasn't really sure if he wanted to ask knowing what normally happened afterwards. "Do you like scary movies?" Billy put down his binoculars focusing on just your voice. "I'd say I do. I like a very specific genre of scary movies though." Billy sat up listening closer if that was possible. "What do you mean by that?" The voice on the phone became lower sending a slight chill down your spine. "Everyone likes scary movies to be bloody. The more guts and gore the better. You don't have to have that to make a scary movie. Vertigo is scary but there's practically no blood and Rear Window is one of the best movies made about a murder with no body ever being seen."
"Scary movies should get inside your head, make the viewer wonder if they are next. Make them wonder if they are just as screwed up as the villain." Out of everything you could've said he wasn't ready for that. "You are very smart girl." Billy didn't intend for it to come off as sexual. However you definitely took it that way. "Has anyone told you that you've got a very attractive voice?" Billy smiled holding back a laugh. "Is that so?" You nodded as if he could see you. "Yep. Anyways it's getting late mystery man. I'm going to get some sleep. Sleep well okay?"
"Okay. Goodnight mystery girl." Billy whispered into the phone. For the first time he was the one to hang up. To end the call without screams on the other end. It made him feel surprisingly good. The light in your room turned off letting him know you were actually going to bed. Billy quietly packed up his things and started the walk to his car. He wasn't sure if this little talk changed anything for you but it definitely changed things for him.

Musical Songs I Think The Boys™ Would Do a Burlesque Number To
*obviously these are only ones I've listened to, I wasn't a theater kid and don't really know much about plays and musicals, please don't be weird or mean in the notes 😭 and YES as a huge ABBA fan I know all the songs in Mamma Mia are just ABBA songs*
also this is way longer than I intended so there's more under the cut
Solos
Astarion - "Sweet Transvestite" from Rocky Horror Picture Show
this one is pretty obvious and expected but like !!! yeah !!! that's just him !!! he'd do the full routine, coming up in the elevator, throwing the cloak off to reveal the slutty lil outfit he has on underneath, throwing his drink at the audience while Gale Brad is talking, lounging on the throne, and then leaving mysteriously in the elevator OH BABY !!!
Wyll - "Land of Lola" from Kinky Boots
he would absolutely slay this routine, the lyrics are practically about him - "with arms as hard as steel" "with the moves of Fred Astaire" "I'm black jesus, I'm black mary, but this mary's legs are hairy" ??? I need this man to absolutely let loose and I NEED to see him in those cunty thigh high boots 👏 RED 👏 IS 👏 HIS 👏 COLOR !!!!
Gale - "Toucha Toucha Touch Me" from Rocky Horror Picture Show
I honestly just think he'd be really good at playing the part of the "innocent shy reserved man who does a complete 180 after being exposed to pure unbridled sexuality"; we all know he's not actually like that it's fully an act because he knows he has the looks of a tired english professor but the soul of a whore I just- you don't know how badly I need to see him doing a slightly desperate unhinged strip tease on stage on a garrish four poster bed OKAY ?!?!
Halsin - "Toxic Love" from Ferngully
I need him in his pretend villain era, I think he'd be cartoony like if he's gonna work a stage he's gonna werk a stage m'kay; he is actually using this performance to raise awareness about the climate crisis and donate the money he makes towards more accessible clean energy and environmental conservation efforts and would love to provide more info and resources while still in his g-string to all interested parties in the lobby of the venue
Duets
Astarion & Gale - "Planet Schmanet Janet" from Rocky Horror Picture Show
Astarion as Dr. Frank N. Furter, Gale as Janet; we all know this is a trademark Astarion ruse to get to chase a scantily clad Gale around menacingly and torment him in front of an audience, I mean c'mon who wouldn't want to do that 👀
Astarion & Wyll - "Does Your Mother Know?" from Mamma Mia
Astarion as Tanya, Wyll as Pepper (I had to look that up apparently his name is Pepper); I feel like Astarion would identify with Tanya on a spiritual level, they're both wine aunt cougars who love luxury, and after seeing that Wyllstarion interaction where they flirtatiously talk about their age gap this song just really is about them huh
Astarion & Halsin - "I Can Make You a Man" + "I Can Make You a Man (Reprise)" from Rocky Horror Picture Show
Astarion as Dr. Frank N. Furter, Halsin as Rocky; tbh this is just so Astarion can show off the "bounty of nature's gifts" that have been bestowed upon him and Halsin just finds how this twink is climbing him and swinging on his outstretched arm like a jungle gym too amusing to not participate
Gale & Wyll - "Horny Angry Tango" from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
either of them in either role; this is purely for the theatrics and to show off their actual ballroom dance skills, Gale is going to be the one getting dipped though
Gale & Halsin - "La Seine" from A Monster In Paris
Gale as Lucille, Halsin as Francoeur; I can't lie it's purely for the height difference that's totally canon and I didn't make up in my head, the contrast between Gale "Lil 5'8" Wizard" Dekarios and Halsin "The 6'5" Bear" Silverbough is just *chef kiss* 👌
Wyll & Halsin - "Lay All Your Love On Me" from Mamma Mia
either of them in either role; they're lowkey almost fucking on stage, Wyll chose it for the drama and Halsin went along for the overtly sexual choreography
Group Numbers
"Lady Marmalade" from Moulin Rouge
Astarion's favorite and Halsin's least favorite for the same reason: it's extremely flashy and dramatic
"Rose Tint My World" which transitions into "Don't Dream It" from Rocky Horror Picture Show
Astarion as Janet for "RTMW" but Frank for "DDI", Wyll as Columbia, Halsin as Rocky, Gale as Brad, with special guest Elminster as Dr. Scott during "Don't Dream It"
"Haus of Holbein" from SIX
tbh I don't have an explanation for this one I've really only listened to the corsets part and think it's kinda cunt, idk they'd all slay in corsets
"Big Spender" from Sweet Charity
ok just imagine any of them doing Fosse choreography
"Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)" from Mamma Mia
ok just imagine there's stripper poles-
"Cell Block Tango" from Chicago
with special guests Minsc and Volo; no one knows how they got here, Minsc is a bit too uncoordinated but he's got the spirit and Volo was recording everything from the audience for research purposes but saw they were short a character and thought to himself "what better way to learn than through participation?"

THE CEREMONY -櫻井敦司へ-
December 8th, 20:00.
I’m not terribly good at calculating the number in large crowds, but I’d say there were between 400 and 500 people in line for the time slot, many who were already waiting when I arrived thirty minutes early.
The staff were gentle but urged us to be efficient, and we had little time to absorb all that was around us with more waiting to enter behind.
Upon entering the venue, the staff handed us one each of a pile of pink carnations. Along the walls were bouquets sent by various companies and musicians, which continued through all the lean hallways from start to finish.
As we turned the corner, framed poster-sized photographs of our Acchan greeted us along the left wall. All were recent, taken in the last year or two, poses of him on stage in costume. The last of these struck me the most. The underside of his legs was fully exposed. And as if to provide the starkest contrast with the burlesque view, his face had the sweetest expression. An angel in black sheen and lace, standing before an audience of flowers and the moving mourning procession, with tears already falling.
In the main hall, the banners we had all signed over the past seven weeks were hung high up along the three walls around the audience, as if presenting them heavenward. The band’s speakers were hung up and in that moment were playing “Kodou,” Sakurai’s voice gently speaking like a lullaby, Gomennasai arigatou.
As we were escorted to our individual standing spots, we beheld the stage.
Nine of his recent costumes stood before us on black mannequins. The stage was absolutely lush with flowers: shades of red, pink, white and yellow that covered every inch of the stage floor and ascended upward all the way to the ceiling, from which hung three massive prints of Sakurai. The flower that he held in the image stage right was the same as many that now surrounded him.
Tumblr media
Between the flowers and the pictures was a background of white gossamer, striped with sequins for the appearance of silver rain against white clouds.
Once the first several rows of us were lined up neatly, the staff called for the first row to step forward.
We were given only ten seconds or so before the staff called people to exit to the next hallway. The audience all advanced one floor spot, and the next row was called up.
As more of the stage became visible to me, I noticed one of Yagami’s drumheads, signed by the whole band, standing upright near the center stage for the audience to see.
Sakurai’s finger cymbals hanging on their red string.
A candelabra swollen with melted white wax and black ash.
Our row was called up. I lay my carnation slightly to the side so as not to contribute to the near toppling pile already formed. I found myself praying before the black lace of the Tour the Best costume, the second and last time I would ever come this close to those clothes. I kept my prayer short, a thank you as spoken in another one of his lyrics, bowed and reopened my eyes. I wanted to take in as much as possible before being sent away.
As our row was thanked to leave, we crossed the row of masks laid out neatly by the cymbals. I wanted to linger to look at them more, but the staff were motioning us to move quickly.
Another hall of bouquets to the right and framed photo posters to the left, this time many of which were from photo shoots.
A third hallway.
At the exit, the staff took the final tickets from us and handed us a card in a plastic wrap, the commemorative photo. It would be sometime later that evening when I would be in a comfortable place to open it.
I made a point to approach one of the staff and thank them for their work during such a difficult time. I then sat on one of the benches in the nearby open space to cry freely for a while before I was able to head out.
Tumblr media
The work it must have taken to accommodate so many mourners is deeply appreciated, and I’m very, very grateful to the band and staff for pulling this off, especially in taking in so many additional mourners as the demand grew.
And to Sakurai Atsushi,
Acchan,
I’ve said it so many time and will continue to,
arigatou iwanakucha
thank you, thank you, eternally and sincerely, thank you
for so much music, love, and more
thank you.
