Aqours 5th Live Next SPARKLING, June 8-9th 2019

This past weekend I saw my very first Aqours Love Live actually LIVE, and it was an experience. This post is mostly about what it’s like to see them live, and less about the show itself.

I have seen live viewings in theaters before, and in particular I went to the Saitama viewings for both Happy Party Train and Wonderful Stories. As I watched, I couldn’t help but think someday... SOMEDAY I’d make it there. I didn’t know how literal that would turn out to be. As in, I never dreamed I would be ACTUALLY heading to the Met Life Dome a year later. 

Even though I had never been here before in my life before this past weekend, it really felt like I had. This experience was made even more powerful by how throughout the shows the girls kept talking about how unbelievable it was that it was their third time here at the Met Life Dome in Saitama. It was like. I MADE IT. WE MADE IT!

My tickets for both days were very different. On Saturday the ticket I got in the second to last Japanese lottery landed me up near the top, left part of the stands. 

But despite the stage being very far, and me being very short, since the stands were elevated I had no problem seeing every stage at all times if I just tilted my head. Of course, the girls were so tiny I kinda had to check the monitors every so often to see who was where when their outfits were similar. But still, the key thing was I could see all of them at all times. AND sometimes for a brief time, they came by a good deal closer in those carts which was nice! 

When you’re at the live viewing/watching the DVD, you can’t really tell how the carts move. But they actually just kinda loop around halfway or do one loop of the whole arena and that’s it. The smaller carts are pulled by people. The larger carts... are possibly driven, still not sure ahah. I could also see the girls going on and off the stage for the first time. It gets dark but you can still see them running to where they need to go haha. 

Also it sounded A-MA-ZING up there. The best I’ve ever heard them.

This was a very different experience. But I gotta say. It was not all good. 

Up in the stands the girls were far away, but at least I could see them. Up here, the few times they came to the right stage they were RIGHT THERE AND IT WAS AMAZING. When they were on the main stage I could see them just kinda OK if I got on my tip-toes. When they were in the center of the arena it was like looking through a keyhole at their backs. When they were on the left stage I couldn’t see them at all, and when they were going around in the carts they might as well have been on the moon. It made me realize they really try and accommodate the people in the stands and do not much for the people in the front. Because, well, we’re in the front. So it’s a pretty big trade-off. 

We were so close that when they actually had FIRE coming up doing Thrilling One Way we could FEEL IT. FIRE HOT. I can’t imagine what it was like for them actually on the stage....

Besides being near the stage, one neat advantage of being in the arena is that the arena is basically the only area that gets filmed for the sections where they film the crowd for before the start and encore of the performance. I don’t know if they filmed my face (they tend not to focus on faces) I am 90% sure the whole country saw my Ruby neso on their theater screen and how amazing is that.

BUT, remember how I said it sounded amazing the first day? Haha well... and this was of course no fault of the girls, but from so close to the stage every time we heard them sing or talk their voices were followed by a huge reverberation around the stadium. I got used to it, but when they first started singing it was kinda like.... “so this is what it’s gonna be like huh....” Not to mention I could only hear the right side of the audio. You’d think it would be impossible not to hear things with the music so loud, but it’s true. It was the most obvious in Believe Again. Listen to that song and pull out your left headphone. That’s what it sounded like from the front, right side of the arena. 

So like I said, huge trade-off. 

If I ever go to one of these again, I kinda hope I don’t get the arena. Especially the outer-ish part. Those honestly seem like the worst seats in the house. 

But from this experience I realized that there is actually nowhere “good” to sit in a stadium like this. But if I actually got to pick my seat, I would pick the lower part of the stands I think. 

But at least my worst fear about the arena didn’t come true. From the viewings/DVDs I thought it would be crazy and I’d get pushed or kicked or squashed or something. Not at all. People were really nice. It might have been scary if this was my first event EVER, but having already been familiar with what the Love Liver crowd is like I fit right in and had a blast. 

But yeah, I always thought it looked just INSANE and I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to on the arena floor. BUT I WAS IN THAT. And I’m glad I was. But probably never again? 

So as for the actual show, there wasn’t much variety for the set list during the different days. On Saturday they did Koi ni Naritai Aquarium and on Sunday they did Happy Party Train. On Saturday they did Hop Step Wai, and on Sunday they actually did the new Aqours Club song Jump up HIGH!! and that was a big surprise. 

The rest of the show was heavily based on the movie. They sang ALL the songs and had (almost) ALL the outfits and THEY LOOKED AMAZING!!! In particular my favorite outfits were Bokura no Hishittekita Michi wa... In the anime they look really cute but simple. On stage they were SO SHIIINY. Maybe my favorite Aqours outfits of all time now. Aqours outfits always look BETTER in real life and I am continuously amazed. They didn’t have casual clothes for Hop Stop Nonstop (they wore theme colored dresses), but they did have the stairs!

Overall I got to admit though, I was just a little bit disappointed by the visuals. My favorite Aqours live overall is still Wonderful Stories I think. Or maybe Sailing to the Sunshine when/if to see that one. I just remember Wonderful Stories had that amazing screen on the center stage, and Sailing to the Sunshine had that giant ship. Next Sparkling had... stairs. And also the third years got a car for their driving song, but that was basically it. Maybe it looked more impressive on the live viewing. 

The most impressive visual ended up being created by the fans. On Saturday there was a guy going around talking to the stands about making a rainbow (like we’ve seen in LA and South Korea), something I never thought would work in Japan. Especially with the way he phrased it like “you can join if you want to”. It’s really hard to convince Japanese fans to abandon the color of their favorite, not to mention we’re talking about Met Life Dome here. So I tried to be optimistic but I just wasn’t sure it could work. 

And during the encore that seemed to be the case until the very last minute when somehow, it all came together. First just the stands as the arena still did whatever they wanted when the girls initially came out to do unit songs for the encore. 

But then when Next Sparking started, this happened....

This was Saturday when I was in the stands. So I was to the left, somewhere in the line where Riko’s sakura pink met Hanamaru’s yellow.

On Sunday I was sitting in the arena seats before the show when that same guy came in to tell us about the rainbow, and I realized oh my lord... was it just mostly this ONE GUY going around the entire arena? But this time, instead of mostly ignoring him, everybody clapped. And when it came time for the encore there was NO HESITATION. Standing in that sea of mikan orange and seeing all that around me was something I’ll never forget. It really made me feel like I was a part of something big.

I also learned about another Love Liver tradition you don’t see on the DVD. To prevent chaos they let each section go one-by-one, and whenever a section is called everyone claps, cheers, and waves as they leave. It’s really nice. I’ve really warmed up to this fandom a lot more than I ever thought I would.

summer 2016! it seems so long ago like a whole different universe. everything was so beautiful back then.. everybody was out and about hunting pokémon’s... that zine is so cute! i wouldn’t say main i actually only got into them a little while ago and i’m still mostly tddk and kiribaku but bkdk is interesting.. to say the least. i haven’t seen what happens in the manga (only a bit of spoilers especially that cover...) and s4 didn’t give us That many scenes with them but i’m keeping my eyes open... wbu?

That Time I Met Taylor 11.12.2017

Pretty stoked that my first post on tumblr is about the time I met Taylor Alison Swift.  I truly never thought it would happen.  I don’t think I ever dreamed about it because I didn’t think I would ever be chosen for a loft after party or go to a secret session.  But with most celebrities, you have to make your own luck and take chances when you want to meet people who have impacted your life in the most positive way, even if that means standing outside in 40 degree weather.

I almost didn’t go to the first day of the pop-up shop in NYC.  I was tired from standing in the cold for 5.5 hours the day before, and I just wanted to rest.  But I also knew I had busy week ahead, and it would be a lot to trek into the city after work.  So Sunday it was.  My mom wanted to go with me and she had plans earlier in the day, so we decided I would wait for her and go later.  We started out around 4:15pm, and somehow even got lucky to get a parking space a block away from the shop on Fulton Street.  It was cold, but I knew seeing the pop-up shop in person would be worth it.  Probably wasn’t going to buy anything either, but everyone loves a good photo-op!

As we’re waiting in line at 5:30pm, my mom and I start chatting with one of the gentlemen working the event.  I’m interested in a career in marketing/being a brand ambassador, so anyone who I can talk to about it I do my best to get advice.  He began asking questions to us (i.e. how long have we loved taylor, have we been to her shows, etc).  One of my favorite things about taylor is that she’s something that my mom and I bond over.  We always poo poo the drama about her in the news and discuss her lyrics.  It’s so fun! The guy was so impressed that she was waiting in the cold with me and that she had come to her concerts with me, plus the fact that she had also done events like these for other artists with me in all kinds of weather.  He called her a “hip mom”, and we both keeled over with laughter.

We’re getting closer to the halfway point.  There was a double barricade to make 2 parallel lines going in opposite directions of each other.  All of a sudden, my mom turns her head and I follow her gaze and just start saying “um I wonder who’s here.”  Then I low key start to panic, and about 7 seconds later, we see a tall blonde figure walk out of the car.  I can’t even begin to tell you I BOOKED IT TO THE BARRICADE.  I’ve never gotten into panic mode so fast!  But she ran right over to us (there’s a gif of it somewhere - I’ll post it), and said “thank you guys so much for coming!”  I read someone on twitter who said that Taylor wasn’t sure anyone was going to show up.  I LOVE HOW HUMBLE AND UNKNOWING SHE IS OF HER FANDOM. 

So i’m in the middle of the barricade, and she starts touching people’s hands to my right and when she gets to me, she stops to take a photo.  My stupid phone spazzed and changes from selfie mode to the other camera, and I PANICKED (I’m starting to panic again while writing this) because I thought she was just going to leave and move on (I truly would have been devastated).  Instead, she says “Oh my gosh don’t worry that happens to me all the time”. She holds up my phone to take a selfie but it now somehow switched to panorama mode wtf; and SHE TAKES MY PHONE TO TRY TO FIX IT WHAT A LEGEND. Then she says: “Why don't we take a group shot?” She hands my phone to her body guard (he’s the guy in the same blue button down in every paparazzi photo lol) and cuddles into me. GUYS. SHE CUDDLED INTO ME. I HAVE CUDDLED WITH TAYLOR ALISON SWIFT. And you bet I held on tight.  I said thank you, and she left to make other fan’s dreams come true.  I turn to my mom behind me, who’s screaming because I met her and she held my phone, and the people around me are asking me to send them the photo (which at first i sent them a blurry version because i didn’t know there were 2, but then quickly send them the first one which was not blurry).  I’m literally trying to get these people’s numbers as I’m in shock. As the crowd of people who were once a nice organized line moved down the barricade, I’m FREAKING THE FRICK OUT. JUMPING UP AND DOWN. SCREAMING “I MET TAYLOR I MET TAYLOR”. HOW IS THIS REAL LIFE. I need a taylor swift song just to describe the immense joy and fulfillment I felt when meeting/cuddling with her. Is there a way to take that feeling and put it in a box and never let it go?

I tried to move down the crowd but it was very chaotic. I had hoped she could have signed my CD, but truly I am grateful for the incredible opportunity and story I now have.  The pop-up shop is great!  So many behind the scenes looks, and taking a photo on that throne was so cool! Wish I could have bought merch, but someone’s gotta save for tour next year.

So I did it. I met Taylor Alison Swift (idk why I feel the need to spell out her name). Never thought it would happen, but here it happened, in my favorite city in the whole world; on the weekend that she/we scored so many new album records (over 1mil in four days that’s what’s up!!!).  

I hope every Swiftie gets to meet her at least once.  She truly loves us. I cannot even begin to describe how wonderful, kind, generous, sweet, and REAL she is.  I’ve never been one to follow the drama, but I don’t believe she has a mean bone in her body.  I stan legends only.

Beware before you read this fan account! -My English is not great. I’ll do my best but there is a possibility of miss-translation. -I recorded the whole event but the quality is not good. I'll definitely reference it but there could be some errors anyway. -This is not a translation of other fan account. Just credit me. -Since it's super long, I decided to divide to 2 or 3 parts. 1. Before entrance Fan meeting was held at Olympic Hall in Seoul, 7:00 pm 2017.08.05. I arrived there around 11:00 am to buy official goods. (twitter.com/itn..686400121413632) I left the venue after buying goods, so I couldn't see it but SNSD members came out later for filming Entertainment Report. I entered the venue around 6:30 pm, and audiences received pink lightstick, and photo cards which contain Girls' greetings for 10th anniversary. 2. First Stage: Holiday Fan meeting started around 7:10 pm. Lights turned off, then Holiday teaser was shown on the screen. After that, girls appeared from the upper side of the stage. Lights on, intro of Holiday was played, and girls walked down to the lower side, lined up for the performance. And with the music, they performed Holiday in front of the fans for the first time. I love Holiday already, but hearing it with choreo made me love it even more. That 360 degree rotating part (you can see it in the MV) is quite cool even on stage. Girls all wore slightly different outfits, but all of them had 'gg' mark on the left chest. 3. Second Stage: Party After first stage is over, 2nd stage 'Party' was immediately followed. Tiffany seemed quite upbeat from the first part, changing her part to "Hey SONE! Do you know what time it is? It must be a party time. Here we go!" 4. Greetings Seohyun: How are you guys! (fans screamed) Seohyun: OK, shall we greet them, then? SNSD: 1,2,3, Good evening it's SNSD! (fans screamed) (Then they greeted fans one by one.) YoonA: I did it first. Taeyeon: Yes, Hyo-Yoong was quicker. YoonA: It's Vitamin. 'Even a girl like me lives well' (laugh) (She was right, so the song came out) Seohyun: (excited) First part is mine! Sunny: Go ahead. (Seohyun started singing her part joyfully) Sooyoung: Cut it, cut it. (fans laughed) (but Seohyun didn't stop, and other girls followed, singing their parts and completed the first verse lol) YoonA: Anyway, we will get a point for this, right? Taeyeon: Yes, point is yours. Seohyun: (complaining) Shampoo doesn't come out of mouth very quick. Taeyeon: So, who won it? Sunny: I think it's 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 0? Seohyun: We got 2, not 1. (fans laughed) Tiffany: This song was impressive to me, because Taeyeon told me 'Isn't the lyrics of this song kinda weird?' (then they both started singing 'I am not your doll~~~' with a funny voice) Sunny: It was written by Boomin unnie? Seohyun: Yes, it was. Sunny: Boomin and Hitchhiker are married couple, and both of them are close to us. YoonA: Sign is theirs, too. Taeyeon: And Show! Show! Show! Sunny: And that one, that...the song which sunflower is a part of the lyrics..... YoonA: What? (then Sunny started humming the song) Others: It's Jejari Gureum Sunny: Then why did I mention sunflower? Taeyeon: I don't know. Sunflower, why? (Note: Actually Jejari Gureum's English song name is Sunflower, so Sunny wasn't totally wrong but I guess girls didn't remember it.) Sunny: I'm sorry! Seohyun: What about the current score, though? Taeyeon: We won. Sunny: It's Bl-Ping's come from behind victory. Seohyun: Ah, it's a pity. Sunny: In fact, we should have done it very hard because there is a prize for winners. (Taeyeon was like, 'yay~') Sunny: (to Taeyeon) How come you don't know about it, you're a co MC. Others: What is the prize? Sunny: It says it'll come out. Come out, then. (fans cheered) Taeyeon: This time, we'll show you all three places first, and then we can talk about each. 3rd place is~ (Genie was displayed on the screen) SNSD: Tell me your wish~ (MV of Genie was being played, and it was a mixed version of JPN MV and KOR MV) Seohyun: Looks like it's a Japanese version? Yuri: Yes, this is a Japanese one. Seohyun: Wait, this one is Korean one. No? Sunny: Yes, I think they mixed both versions. And I think I know why they did it. Others: Why? Sunny: Its purpose is showing the choreo, but when we shot a Korean version, we weren't fully ready. We never did choreo with high heels on. We practiced without heels, then when we shot a MV, we had to do it and we were very surprised, because it was very hard to do the leg dance choreo with heels on. Tiffany: But when we shot a Japanese one, we adapted very well already because the song came out more than a year earlier. Therefore we could concentrate more on details. Taeyeon: OK, how about the 2nd place? (CMIYC was being displayed) Taeyeon: It looks tough even by just watching. Tiffany: Hyoyeon looks so pretty there. Seohyun: When music goes climax, our breath getting shorter.... Taeyeon: Again, it's tough even by just watching. Taeyeon: OK, thanks. How about the 1st place? (Into the new world was being displayed, and this time it's not a MV, it was one of their early stages. Fans screamed.) Taeyeon: (embarrassed) Do we have to watch this for real? Seohyun: I think we did very good live at that time. Sunny: Speaking of ITNW choreo, do you remember the remixed version? (fans screamed) I can proudly say that one is also the legendary one. Tiffany: Yeah, that one is on the level of CMIYC. Sunny: Honorable mentions are, Gee, Holiday...one who picked Holiday describe the choreo like this. 'Best burning dance'. It's actually me. (laugh) Sunny: And others are Mr. Taxi, Kissing You, I Got A Boy. Looking at these, really there are many tough choreos. (she said it with a pretend sobbing voice) Taeyeon: It might look enjoyable and pretty from outside, but most of them are very tough, out of breath stuffs. Seohyun: Yes. IGAB was also very very tough. YoonA: Remember IGAB had a hidden choreo? Taeyeon: Yes, right. It was revised. Original one was even tougher. Sunny: If we did that one, then ugh..... Taeyeon: Yeah, then one of us might have vomited. (fans laughed) Yuri: Choreo itself was difficult, but the movement was even harder. Others: Right. Yuri: Members are really smart, though I'm not. (fans laughed) These girls are really smart. Seohyun: No. We are one. Sunny: I just received a message from the staffs, saying we gotta skip the next part. Sooyoung: I think it's because some talks are overlapped. (fans groaned) Sunny: Well, then. Shall we just show the ranks only? Taeyeon: OK. Sooyoung: (to fans) I think you're not gonna be that interested in next one. Sunny: Next poll is about styles. 3 best styles of SNSD. Sooyoung: We already talked about skinny jean, etc. Sunny: I'll just announce the rank. 3rd place is~ (Party outfits were being shown on the screen) SNSD: It's pretty~ Sunny: Was it our first time shooting MV overseas? SNSD: Correct. Sunny: 2nd place is~ (Genie era uniform outfits were being displayed) SNSD: Genie~ Sooyoung: Look at the reason why YoonA picked Genie. 'Because uniform looks super cool' (fans laughed) YoonA: When I put that uniform on and went to the waiting room, I felt like I suit up. It gave me a lot of confident. Sunny: And I think it was good that we preoccupy the uniform concept. It gave us the image of uniform=SNSD. Seohyun: You're right. Sunny: And the 1st place~ (Gee era white T-shirts and jeans were being displayed) SNSD: Gee~ Tiffany: It looks pretty. Sooyoung: It is pretty even looking at today. Sunny: However, it was a big challenge back then. White T-shirts and jeans only on the stage, it couldn't be done without confidence. I think it was possible because we were together, could lean on each other. Sunny: OK, so let's wrap up the style part and move on to the next one. Tiffany: I think this one will be interesting. We talked about it quite a lot at the waiting room. Sunny & Taeyeon: It's 3 best concert stage by SNSD. (fans screamed) Taeyeon: OK, 3rd place first. (Show girl stage was being played) Tiffany: It's cool. Taeyeon: It feels like a Broadway show. Tiffany: Stage sets, light, outfits, everything looks so cool. We were very confident while doing it. Taeyeon: We showed this stage at MBC, too. Sunny: Yeah, though the outfits were different. Taeyeon: OK, 2nd place~ (Girls disguised as boys were being played) Sooyoung: Is it really being played? (fans laughed) (there were a lot of scenes which SNSD members disguised as boys, and most of them are really hilarious. We couldn't stop laughing, and girls were no different.) Tiffany: I think we prepared quite a lot of man disguised version for the concert. Sooyoung: It brings back the memories. (laugh) Taeyeon: Sometimes I think each one of you could be a very handsome boy if you were born as a man. Military soldier soshi was also fun. Taeyeon: Let's see which one is the No.1. (Into the new world ballad version at Tokyo Dome concert was being played.) Taeyeon: Remember this one? Sunny: It's too cheesy to watch. Taeyeon: Yeah, we all put ribbons on our head. Hyoyeon: Is it Tokyo Dome? (then the video shows Sunny choking while singing her part 'I love you, I love you') Sunny: ARGHHHHHHH (other members and fans all laughed) (Sunny stood up and got out of the stage because she was so embarrassed lol) Taeyeon: It's like, watching a life theater. Seohyun: Ah, everyone is crying. Taeyeon: Yeah, everyone did. (Sunny returned when the video is almost over) Sunny: Thank you for this one. (fans laughed) Sooyoung: Sunny! Sunny: (just by looking at Sooyoung's face, she knew what is coming) ? Sooyoung: (impersonating choking Sunny) 'I love you, I love you' (fans laughed) Sunny: Did I do it? I didn't watch anything. Sooyoung: Ah, you're so cute. Sooyoung: But I teared up a bit. Taeyeon: The song itself is very important for us, and the Tokyo Dome performance is also very meaningful. That's why it's memorable.

Huge Roundup of News! Guests! Merchants! Musicians! A Freakin' War! Wait, what?!

Finally managed to punch a hole through those scramblers. Nice try mates, but you can’t stop the signal! So let’s get a run down of what’s going on with those crazy pones setting up that TrotCon thing next month!

First off, another VIP guest announcement. Where do they find them?

Announcing an oldie but a goodie: Heather Breckel is back at TrotCon!

Breckel is of course best known on our end as the colorist for the IDW Publishing comic series for My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic that’s been a perfect complement to the TV show through its existence. You read one of the comics? Chances are you laid your eyes on some of her work. And loved it. Duh.

Beyond that, Breckel (a Columbus, Ohio native too! Imagine that!) has worked in similar capacities across other titles, including IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series and Godzilla: Half Century War, Image Comics’ Peter Panzerfaust, Dark Horse Comics’ Number 13, plus some of her personal projects, like Angie Ruins Fire Emblem.

She’ll be back for panels this year as well as spending time in our vendor hall.

Wait, vendor hall. We gotta announce who’s in that still, right?

OK, let’s.

We’ve got 56 tables of TrotCon-y goodness this year, same pony place, same pony time. Both the vendor listing AND map is now available on our website, with further additions and subtractions possible depending on… eh, y’know, the usual.

Point is, chances are about 95 percent of this is going to stay exactly the same by the time TrotCon rolls around this July.

In addition to Heather Breckel and a few of our community guests (along with some fellow conventions! Hi, fellow conventions!), you’ll find many of the awesome vendors that usually adorn TrotCon’s vendor hall (some of whom have been around since we started up in 2012), along with new faces.

Announcing: the Battle for Bottlecap Canyon!

The truck driver pressed his hoof down on the gas pedal sending more nuclear power to the wheels. “I’ve gotta get all these caps to the bottling plant” he said to himself “If they can’t meet the quota for the new Peanut Bucker Cola release, my head will roll.”

As the truck approached the bridge spanning a canyon, a bright light flashed in the distance, growing brighter than the sun within a millisecond! The driver covered his eyes as he was blinded by the mushrooming explosion, causing the truck to swerve over the bridge railing and fall into the canyon. “AAAAAAAAAAH, Buck me!” the driver exclaimed.

Had anyone been around, onlookers would have observed a smaller explosion in the base of the canyon… as the truck full of bottle caps burns in its own nuclear fire, sending the cargo all over the canyon floor.

Countless years later, tales about a canyon of riches came out of the wasteland, from the dying words of an old scavenger. No one has ever found it…Until now!

Three factions descend upon the canyon, all aiming to claim the hoard of caps. So grab your Nerf blaster, pony up with your team, and fight for the glory of Bottlecap Canyon!

That’s right everypony! It’s a Nerf war!

Scavenge the wasteland for bottle caps to support your faction, but watch out, the other factions will try to stop you and claim the caps for themselves. Each team will have a base to keep their caps at, and the wasteland between bases will have containers hiding precious caps and more Nerf ammo.

The event has a $5 entry fee, but if you bring your own blaster, there is a discount! Ammunition is provided (standard darts only; no rival, disc, mega, or missile are available).

The event runs several times during the convention, including a sponsors only “free session” on Friday! That’s right, if you are a sponsor, you get in for free!

Did we mention that ALL sponsor tiers also get a Nerf Blaster with their loot box? Well, they do: The higher the tier, the better the blaster! What better way to try out your new Nerf blaster than hunting the wasteland for bottle caps? Sponsor badges help the convention and come with all kinds of goodies, registration for sponsors ends on June the 14th, so you better hurry up!

Sounds like a great stash of free caps. And you know what they say, trade will save the wastes. Or something like that. If any of you listening plan on staking a claim, be careful out there. You’re certainly not the only one.

Each year, TrotCon is chock full of some killer community guests who are doing some really cool things in the fandom, and 2017 is no different.

With our final major community guest announcement push for 2017, we’d like to announce the following:

–Fire Team Harmony! Y’all’ve seen them around TrotCon for a bit now as well as other pony conventions across the country, and this year we’re vaulting them up a notch to VIP status. Righteous, yeah? Check out these fandom-beloved cosplayers around the convention, say hi, even check ’em out at their own panels!

–DaThings1! We’ve had Luke/DaThing1, purveyor of some of the best YouTube Poops this side of the Mississippi (or west of it… just anywhere, really). Well, he’s back again, and this time he’s got the third installment of the “Wow! It’s Made” series to show off, along with how-tos and other demonstrations. Get ready to laugh.

–Joe Dyer! Ya boy is known as volrathxp on FIMfiction, where he wrote the popular fic ‘Fallout Equestria: Starlight’ (and since our theme is post-apocalyptic… well, ya know), among others. He’ll be on hand to discuss fan fiction, side fiction, and much more. Writers, you’re gonna want to get in on his stuff.

–Hobbes Maxwell! A longtime member of our vendor hall (where he’ll be again this year, naturally), Hobbes is on hand (hoof? Ugh, this horse pun stuff gets tiring after six years, y’all) for multiple panels and events, including some of our after-dark content in the wee hours of the morning. C’mon, ingest a Red Bull or two and stay up late. Worth. It.

–WeimTime! A last-minute addition to our panel programming last year (so late, he wasn’t even in the conbook or online schedule), we’ve got WeimTime back this year and part of our community guest roster this time around. Learn from the owner of the highly successful YouTube channel and business of the same name, which is known for its animation as well as the Synthesia and WeimTime Plays online series, and take a trip down memory line with his Nostalgia Time panel.

–Robin from My Little Robin! You know the dude from the My Little Robin: Reviewing Is Magic series? Yeah, we got the heck outta him for TrotCon 2017. He’ll be doing a live episode of the show as well as throwing a bit of a party commemorating four years of reviewing ponies on the internet. Aspiring reviewer? Good guy to check out.

We’re also excited to welcome back the Traveling Pony Museum, who’s been at every TrotCon since the beginning. Catch ’em in the vendor hall or in their own room with an assortment of awesome pony-related wares from the beginning of the fandom’s lifetime to now!

They’re all alongside multiple other performers who’ve been with us in the past, including PonyFireStone, IvoryBrony, end_of_file, R3CTIFIER and JESUSKIDZ. And then we’ve got our rookies: Luck Rock, Versal, DJ Rod, Fennec Faux, and Iggy the Kidd.

13 musicians, folks. How can we contain ’em all? Oh, that’s right: by expanding to TWO NIGHTS of performances this year! We’ll be hosting a short, later-hours set on Friday to get you warmed up for the big event Saturday.

And then, y’know, the musician panel on Sunday, like usual. We are nothing if not creatures of habit.
