This is a Kaeya wip I've had for a while. I ended up cannibalising pieces of it for my Cyno with chronic pain piece because I liked the vibes so if some lines feel familiar, that's why. I figured I'd share it here though because it's top tier description.

The pain is a familiar companion. It haunts his steps like the ghosts of his people, agony wailing through every cell of his body. His blood feels like fire in his veins, boiling like the hot oil he once burned himself on in Adelinde's kitchen. That scar is long faded now, just a patch of bumpy skin on his hand replaced by the spiderwebbed cracks Diluc left behind-- like Kaeya is a doll made of delicate porcelain, held together by the phantoms of gentle hands that once cradled him close.

His body is made of ruins, haunted temples and cemetery grounds soaked in the blood of Khaenri'ah, like hands reaching up from a yawning grave. It is crumbling and empty, a relic left to rot in the rain as mold and mildew fester in its cracks and corners. 

On good days, the protruding scars that adorn his body like macabre art only ache and burn. They're finger painted with misery and fire, the last remnants of betrayal that severed a bond once thought stronger than blood. It is no less than he deserves. 

On bad days, the pain bites at his fingers like a starving animal. It claws up his limbs, twisting and tearing through mottled tissue like teeth digging into bone. His hands tremble, unable to grip his pen despite his best efforts while his focus dances away like ghosts flowing upon the wind. 

He lays on his couch, gasping for air through the agony wrapped around his throat like a noose. He is beyond thought, beyond recognition of anything other than pain, other than the desperate wish for it to end. If his throat could form noise, Kaeya is sure he would beg for mercy-- whatever that would be for a sinner such as himself. He feels flayed open, his insides left to be picked at by birds, vulnerable and despondent. 

Medicine courses through his body with every beat of his poisoned heart but it does nothing to lessen the agony.

I've finally watched Goncharov (1973) and I need to talk about the ballroom scene. Katya and Ivan are dancing to the main theme, twirling to the waltz in a room full of people, looking at each other like there is no one else —but you can see them.

In the midst of blurring faces, the only people you can clearly see are Andrey and Sofia: talking to other people, laughing, smoking, sipping whiskey. Always present in the scene, always present in their minds.

Yes, of course Katya and Ivan are in love —you can see it in their eyes, in the way they look at each other—; but you can also see that they aren't the only ones in their hearts, and that's what this scene is about. And it's done —as everything else in the film— beautifully.

i feel like a lot of the 'i hate kids' crowd would be more tolerant if they understood that due to a kid's limited experience of the world that 4 hour flight might just be the longest they've ever had to sit still for or that trapped finger might literally be the most pain they've ever felt in their short life or they might not have ever seen a person with pink hair ever so of course they want to touch it or nobody's told them yet that they can't run around the museum and they only just learned cheetahs are the fastest animals so of course they want to put that to the test. how were they supposed to know etc etc.

Back when that one chapter cover dropped I VIVIDLY remember someone sending me an unnecessarily long-winded explanation about why it COULDN'T be Urd because "Rígr isn't there" (which is stupid reasoning btw because I can just as easily say "if it's Shinya then where is Guren")

well I came to realisation Rígr IS there you just can't see him well because he blends into the black background. imo he's easier to see in black and white (which is where I noticed this in the first place) so here's that
