other musings: i was wrong about the one piece live action, and i'm kinda glad i was

this is a follow up to my post expressing my fears about the live action that came out this year. Yeah, I know I am late to the party. Uni is hard okay???

Despite changing my opinion later, I can't blame myself for thinking it would be trash lol ,,,, after seeing various great anime being desrespected by their (especially western) live action adaptations (I AM LOOKING AT YOU, DEATH NOTE.), of course I would fear the worse for my favorite series.

But congrats to production!!! I'm glad to admit I was wrong, because it's amazing that something I adore so much get the love it deserves by its cast, crew and audience. It's so cool to see new people appreciating the anime and the manga coming from the live action; there's nothing more rewarding than sharing the same love for something with other people.

Of course, I can't say that I reeeeeeeally enjoyed the live action, but that was expected for me, personally. Nothing will ever come close to the feeling of reading the manga and appreciating Oda's artstyle, or even watching the anime and its beautifully animated fight scenes. There were some things that irked me, like wardrobe choices (as a brazilian I will always be disappointed Luffy doesn't wear some kind of havaianas lol), characterization, CGI and the pace of the story, but I found myself more willing to ignore them.

Overall, I still loved the casting and think they were amazing at their jobs, as I was expecting before. It's lovely to be able to continue sharing my love for One Piece with friends new and old to the series because of the live action :)

Red Van, ⁽ᴬⁿᵈ ᴳʳᵉᵉⁿ ᵀʳᵘᶜᵏ⁾ Use a cane. This is because the Red Van has a trashed transmission and is incapacitated. Green Truck is also incapacitated but its because his gear shifter completely snapped off, rendering him unable to shift gears and requiring a new steering column. How I translated this into the Transformer universe is that both of them have a problem with either one or both of their legs. Green Truck has a bad knee and certainly cant fight, but he can still move around and stuff just fine. Both of Red Vans legs are damaged and faulty so she cant even leave the base if she’s needed. Poor mamma.

A.T.Dragster and her brother are dead empty shells. ･_ ･

Honda likes to paint in her free time. Sometimes she paints the faces of the team mates she’s lost, and the cons that she’s killed. Its best to just leave her alone and let her cool off when she gets that way.

Ranger used to be a fishing truck, that’s why her character loves water and is so fascinated by rivers and things.

Sorry if these weren’t the kind of facts you were looking for, but it was all I could come up with at the moment. :{

V... Voices? Uh... I uh.. I haven’t really thought about it. I’m not very good at describing things and I don’t think I know any other peoples voices I can reference..

But.. for Bash Buggy, just imagine a 20 year old male voice, but overlaid with static and fuzz and just all kinds of glitches. His voice box was severely damaged and parts of it were replaced with parts that were either too small or too big. His voice has horrible sounds coating it and sometimes it jams up and he cant even talk.

So.. kind’a picture him having withered Bonnies voice, but deeper and more staticky.

Now for all the old/big characters, imagine them with deep and gruff voices, besides Escort. For the others..? Uh.. I don’t know?? <:{ Sorry??

Volvo and Ratchet get along swell. Bash Buggy and Wheeljack get along like two peas in a pod. Actually, Brown Suburban and Bash Buggy are good friends with Jackie and Bulk, Brown and Bash were Wreckers after all. And as far as I have seen, the Wreckers were kind’a like a family. 

Bash Buggy and Wheeljack get into all kinds of trouble together. When Ultra Magnus met Bash, after confirming that he wasn't a corpse, he just went “Oh Primus, there’s two of them.” 

I think U.M, White Truck and Jeepy would get along with Bumblebee and Smokescreen.

I think Green Truck would get along with Optimus in the same way that Ultra Magnus does. Except Green Truck is inherently more pleasant to be around.

I’d like to think Miata and Arcee would get along like Bumblebee and her do. I think A.T.Dragster and Arcee would get along really well though, they’re personality's are pretty similar and they have a lot in common.

Not 100% sure about the others, I haven’t thought much about Team Prime being around my OCs even though they’re supposed to be on Earth with them..

For Suburban that’s understandable. Suburban has always been used to haul small kids around, that’s actually what we got him for. He is always worried about small fragile creatures, especially children.
