Arif Sikander was the Muggle Studies professor both before and after Charity Burbage held the position at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He is also the uncle of Fawkes the phoenix’s new Muggle owner, Farid Sikander.

The elder of two brothers from a modest magical family, Arif was always encouraged by his father to excel academically. Because Hamza was born a Squib, Arif had high expectations put his shoulders as the only son with magical talent, and his father’s high expectations -- as well as the opaque, neglectful shadow it ended up casting over Hamza -- built a wall between the two brothers too high for anyone to surmount. That doesn’t mean, though, that Arif hasn’t tried. With the death of their father, Hamza and his wife and children are now Arif’s only living family, and since Hamza so thoroughly integrated himself into the Muggle World, Arif applied himself passionately to Muggle Studies in an attempt to bridge the divide. Despite this, Hamza has stubbornly rebuffed Arif’s attempts at reconciliation over the years, never accepting any invitations on Arif’s end for family outings and never inviting Arif to any get-togethers at his home either. What no one could’ve expected, though, was Albus Dumbledore’s old familiar -- Fawkes the phoenix -- ending up in the care of Hamza’s second son, Farid, and choosing the Muggle teenager as his new master, even going so far as to Disapparate with him to Hogwarts when the Ministry of Magic tried to separate them. In the end, the Ministry assigns custody of Farid to his uncle Arif so that he doesn’t end up sharing his knowedge of the Wizarding World with his mother and siblings -- and although Arif hates that the Ministry has put Farid in such a horrible position, he can’t help but feel some completion, being allowed to get to know his smart, soft-hearted nephew and -- after so long -- not having to live completely alone.

Houses

Teddy - Hufflepuff - He’s the son of Nymphadora badass Tonks. I mean come on. Teddy grows up raised by a Slytherin grandmother and a Gryffindor godfather among other relatives and family friends from other houses. He is incredibly loved and treasured. Collectively while most have their own preferences over what house he is sorted in, ultimately they’d happily accept him regardless. He grows up to be a kind and sweet yet individualistic person making friends in all houses yet still having a penchant for mischief and pranks from his mother and Marauders descent.

Victoire - Ravenclaw - Victoire who is a mix of her parents traits but her mother’s is more evident in hers. Victoire who was nearly a Hatstall between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor and was invited to attend Beauxbatons but ultimately decided and declined to attend Hogwarts with the rest of her cousins and family. Victoire who is brainy and witty and also individualistic. Victoire who acts like a French princess and has the grace and strength her mother carries yet is still a caring big sister and eldest cousin to the rest of the Second Gen.

Fred - Gryffindor - Fred II is quite unsurprisingly a Gryffindor. The hat would still take a little time, but not enough to be a near hatstall before shouting Gryffindor. Fred II who is practically like his uncle, Fred who lives in Fred II. He like James become sort of part of the new Marauders. Fred who has great courage but also has boldness in his small being.

James - Gryffindor - James is obviously a Gryffindor. He’s the perfect son of his parents in both ways, being the perfect combination of his parents. He’s got the heart and soul of his father and his paternal grandfather and the care of his mother. He also has the quidditch skills of his mother and becomes Chaser during his year at Hogwarts.

Dominique - Gryffindor - Like her father and her uncles before her, she has the true spirit of a Gryffindor. Like her sister before her, she received an invitation to Beauxbatons but ultimately declined to be with her friends at Hogwarts. At her sorting she is nearly a Hatstall but was ultimately placed in Gryffindor. Dominique who has plenty of wonder and quiet intelligence but is a true Gryffindor in her passions, her bravery and her ability to fight.

Roxanne - Gryffindor - Roxanne. Roxanne, who is very much like her mother but is also like her own person. She is courageous and brave and protective over her friends but also has a mischievous streak that will make her tease her brother and mess with her cousins but overall still loves them. Roxanne who has ambition and was nearly a Hatstall between Slytherin and Gryffindor, but was also ultimately placed Gryffindor.

Molly - Hufflepuff - Molly who is an individual but also much like her grandmother and her relatives. She is kind and caring and gets sorted into Hufflepuff. While being like her grandmother, she isn’t that fierce, more passive but still definitely isn’t one to be crossed with as she reminds people that the kindest people can be the scariest when they had enough. Molly who is seen as rather quiet but is the loudest and brightest in personality among her cousins.

Rose - Gryffindor - Rose, a lot like her cousin. She likes Quidditch and is skilled but likes being on the ground as much. Rose who is protective over her brother and youngest cousin and though, she doesn’t seen it also the rest of her family. Rose who is vibrant and filled with cheer and won’t hesitate to hex anyone in the hallways who has insulted her family not caring always about rules. Rose, a Gryffindor.

Albus - Slytherin - Albus who wants to break free. Albus who wants to be his own personality. Albus who doesn’t want the pressures of society and has plenty of ambition to accomplish what he wants to do. Albus who is sorted Slytherin. Albus, who regardless still has family and parents and cousins who love and support him and regardless and defend him despite he being able to defend himself.

Louis - Ravenclaw - Louis who is in the same year as his cousins Albus and Rose. Louis who is a Ravenclaw. Louis who has intelligence and is clever and witty when he needs to be. Louis who seems to be too quiet at times, even unnervingly so but would come up with a quip or something so smart that would stun those who questioned him. Louis who sometimes cares more about his grades than family. Louis who fights with his cousin Lucy on more occasions than not but would stand back to back with her if the situation ever called it.

Lucy - Slytherin - Lucy the Slytherin. Lucy who is a Hatstall between Slytherin and Ravenclaw. Lucy who seems sweet on the outside but has a tongue of silver and will manipulate others if she needs too and has ambitions possibly even greater than her brains. Lucy who loves her sister Molly even if she doesn’t show it. Lucy who will defend her cousins if the situations calls it. Lucy who loves learning new things. Lucy who could be intelligent and witty. Lucy the almost Slytherclaw. Lucy the Slytherin.

Lily - Slytherin - Lily who is sweet. Lily who is outgoing. Lily who is creative and intelligent. Lily who is ambitious. Lily who has a heart of silver, no solid gold. She who is adored and loved by all her cousins, friends and family. Lily who fits in all four houses for her kindness and acceptance of all, for her bold and lively personality, for her ambitions and her scheming, for her creativity and drive to inventing. Lily who likes to be different. Lily who is ultimately sorted into Slytherin so she could fulfill her goals and ambitions.

Hugo - Ravenclaw - Hugo who is expected to be Gryffindor. Hugo who like his sister inherited his mother’s brains but also his father’s impulsivity and heart. Hugo who knows how to say the right things at the right time. Hugo who is quietly intelligent and musical. Hugo who is a lot like his cousin due to having spent a lot of time with her but not quite ‘Hogwarts’ Princess’ material. Hugo who is never happy enough through his teenage years until he figures himself out. He doesn’t have to be anyone just be Hugo. Hugo who achieves in grades and has intelligence and wit.

Jacob and Arlene grew specially close during their childhood.

Jacob is 5 years older than Arlene

Jacob was a gifted kid. From a very young age he noticed that he could use magic; and wanted to learn more and more. However, his mother was pretty strict about the use of magic in home and she restricted some of his experiments. But anyway Jacob managed to stole some of his father's books about magic and even his wand a couple of times.

Whenever he managed to steal something, he ran to show it to Arlene, who also liked to discover the potential of magic. They both had a strong unwritten rule of not saying anything to their parents.

Jacob is the radical type of person that will cross every line and authority to get what he wants. And he' ll justify himself if you try to tell him anything.

Jacob was almost a hatstall. The Sorting Hat spent almost 4 minutes trying to decide whether to send him to Ravenclaw or Slytherin; In the end, Jacob's ambitions far outweigh his desire to learn, so he was sent to Slytherin.

Things began to take a specific turn when Jacob entered Hogwarts: he also quickly noticed that his knowledge and use of magic was above of most of his classmates. Teachers praised his performance, so his pride, arrogance, selfishness, and ego began to grow nonstop, which led him to get involved in many fights, problems and duels from which he managed to win in one way or another.

When he was spending the holidays at his house, Jacob taught Arlene a wide variety of useful but morally questionable things: stealing, lying, sneaking around, the theory of some defensive curses and spells, and even how to fight.

“-But ... I'm too weak to fight someone...” “-It is not about fighting with force, you’ll always won with strategy”

As you may have noticed, Jacob is an incredibly smart and cunning person. But he was easily fooled by Rakepick. Why? HEADCANON TIME

I've always thought that Rakepick made allies by manipulating them through their ego and arrogance; That's why she got people as capable and intelligent as Merula, Bill Weasley and Jacob to join her.

Jacob was seduced by Rakepick's ideas of power, by her words, and her continuous praise. Jacob hates any authority figure, and Rakepick was telling him just what he wanted to hear: That Hogwarts teachers didn't understand his hidden potential, that the two of them could discover even more secrets and hidden powers if they worked together, that she had never seen a wizard his age with such magical ability...and so on.

We all know how this ended: with Jacob betrayed and locked in a portrait for 5 years. This was an incredible wound to his ego (and he even got a huge scar on his face); In all the years that he spent inside the portrait his hatred and his need for revenge against Rakepick only increased.

And once released, it only took Arlene to mention Rakepick for Jacob to decide to go find her. Not without first warning Arlene not to say anything to their parents and told her to stay away from him and this conflict.

This drove Arlene to shock and despair. During all the years she was looking for him, she believed that if she found him things would go back to the way they were before, that they could go home to live in peace, just as she wanted. But apparently that was too much to ask.

Arlene evidently did not move away from the conflict with Rakepick, especially after "R" took Rowan's life. She kept trying to defeat "R", and eventually, Jacob agreed to help his sister.

Either way, every time they saw each other, Arlene suggested him to please come home, and every time Jacob refused again.

I have the firm intention of killing Jacob later in the story, but I have not decided the right time, place, or situation to do so, xd so the lore and the story will continue and expand, I think.

“You know my parents don’t care that you’re a muggleborn,” You hummed, wincing and flinching as Hermione sighs, “Sorry.”

“I know that, but,” Hermione drops her hand from dabbing a cut from your forehead, looking into your eyes, “Even if Harry and Ron think you’re one of the good ones, I don’t want you to get abused by your own house.”

“Hermione,” But, she ignores you.

“I still worry about you on full moons,” As she returns in cleaning up your wounds, only doing minor ones as Madam Pomfrey would do the rest and also changing topics, “You get wolfsbane and yet you still somehow get yourself injured.”

The two of you were meeting up in the room of requirements since the two of you had started to secretly date in the fourth year and only known to be dating to a handful of people. Your parents weren’t strict on housing or even blood types, you come from a pureblood family known to be in Ravenclaw, you just so happened to be in Slytherin because you were ambitious. Hermione knew you were smart, you could have easily been put in Ravenclaw, but you just value traits of Slytherin more than Ravenclaw traits.

Your parents were in the first war with the Order and came back to support Harry - the Golden trio and Weasley siblings knew you were one of the good ones. But, Hermione was afraid, she was scared of being judge by people, she wanted to protect you. Even when you had joined Dumbledore’s Army, with the Golden Trio and the Weasley siblings welcoming you like you were friends - other members were sceptical of you.

You had to endure a lot of looks during the lessons Harry was teaching, only now, after a few sessions, they had started to ease up around you as they witness how Harry and co were treating you. Even starting conversations with you, finding out you’re actually a decent person to be around - funny too.

“You are still taking wolfsbane, right?” Hermione narrows her eyes at you as you looked almost offended.

“Of course I am!” You exclaimed, “Snape has been on my case, seething more than usual.”

“What? Why? Thought he would be nicer to you since you’re in his house.”

“Snape doesn’t supply Remus wolfsbane anymore, so I ask for two sets,” You hummed, “I’m pretty sure Snape knows but he can’t really deny me of it - Dumbledore even said he had to make what I ask for, Remus really does appreciate it.”

“Snape stopped Lupin’s supply?”

“Well, I’m pretty sure their agreement was only when Lupin was professor, so I was providing them until Umbridge decided to start looking at letters and packages and you know how much she hates werewolves.”

“I often wonder how you got into Slytherin,” Hermione muses out, “You have consideration of others, you’re on the good side and you’re not horrible like the rest of the house.”

“I only got put into Slytherin because of the traits I value the most. Both of us were hatstalled, you could have been in Ravenclaw, but what do you value the most?”

“Bravery and courage,” Hermione stated, back straightening, “We follow our morals and seize opportunities for change.”

You smiled, nodding, “Slytherins aren’t necessarily bad, we’re ambitious to the core, driven to our goals. We’re just more conscious out the impression we give out to people. Plus, there are bad people from other houses thank Slytherin - like Pettigrew, he was from Gryffindor.”

Hermione looked at you, “I guess you’re right,” Before waving her wand, “I guess I’ve clean as much blood as I could.”

“You know I wouldn’t care,” You hummed, standing up and stretching, the room of requirements was a lovely place and offered you and Hermione a cosy spot for her to tend to you, “I’ll take all the abuse and hatred from my house if it means it gets them off you.”

“I know-”

“I don’t want us to rush into anything, but I’ll have you know, Hermione Granger, I would do anything for you, I would receive each punch, kick, spell, torture if it means you would be happy, to be loved.”

“You’re saying meaningless words!” Hermione giggled.

“Meaningless words,” you gasped, hand on heart as you dramatically stood before her, “I’ll let you eat up these meaningless words when we’re married and I used the words as my vows.”

“I doubt you’ll remember them,” Hermione giggles as you beam. smirking at your love.

ANYWAY THIS IS KINDA LONG I APOLOGIZE

HOW THE TWO OF YOU MET

james is a brat. that’s a fact and we all know it. now, i’m not sure how much you play the piano but for the sake of this one i’m gonna go with this.

when you were eight, you attended a recital and james, who was nine during that moment, happened to be out with his parents and he got distracted by something . . . playing from the distance. by the time he made it near, he pushed the heavy door open to find you at the low stage, focused on playing:

bewitched, he walked down the stairs, his eyes fixed on you and all. his parents were terrified, ready to use the summoning charm on him when he was just listening to a girl his age play something so captivating. somehow, he made it to the middle row and so he took a seat.

you still wore glasses around that time and james personally thought it was pretty cool seeing someone with “muggle goggles.” he knew what they were called but he just preferred calling it that way. it wasn’t until the door swung open again to reveal mr. fleamont potter calling back his son did james snap out of his daze. for one second, you risked a glance over to the boy walking away only to look back again to what you were playing, glad that you managed to keep on going.

james never forgot that very tune. in fact, he’d even hum it unintelligibly everywhere. and when i say everywhere, i mean EVERYWHERE. so when he was about to doze off in the great hall on his first day as a second year student, he was only lazily watching the sorting when you got up and he was like wait a minute…

PLS THE WAY HE JUST SAT THERE RIGID AF as he waited for u to be sorted but u were a hatstall. you were like pfft i’ll probably get sorted to ravenclaw but nope u were sorted to gryffindor. you didn’t have classes together because ofc you were one year below him. the only times you saw each other would be when you were sitting alone after your new friends have gone back into the room and you had sheet music all over because you were trying to get it in your muscle memory and stuff like that.

the first time that you talked was next year when he awkwardly asked you if you wanted to go to hogsmeade with him and you’re like “oh, i wish i could but i’m a second year.” but then he told you to take this paper. ofc the marauders map wasn’t made till 1974 or 1975 but let’s just say it was kinda some beta testing and he’s like “you get to try it first. now you take this route” bleh bleh you were confused why this guy was helping you get to hogsmeade but you wanted to check out hogsmeade so you went.

so yeah that was when you two finally became friends :))

— before you started becoming close with him, he liked to tease you and your glasses and he even tried wearing it himself and he’s like “how can you even see” HAHZHSHAA so when you came back on your fourth year and james was in his fifth, he was like “where’s clara we’re matching now” but then he sees you not wearing them and ofc he’s like sheeeesh but also “wait we were supposed to be matching why are you suddenly seeing clearly” SIR SHE’S WEARING CONTACTS

— when someone tries on his glasses he gets mf annoyed cos of the fingerprints and he tries to use spells and stuff but you just give him the small thing u use to wipe glasses with and he keeps it like omfg yay

— i also like to think that he once looked through your music sheets and he’s like “nutcracker?” and you just go like “oh, yeah, i like to think i’m clara sometimes.” “but you are clara.” “no, no, i mean the main character in the nutcracker.” and you launch into this storytelling about what the nutcracker is and HE LISTENS SO INTENSELY AND EVEN ASKS QUESTIONS

— it wasn’t until summer when he turned seventeen and got his apparition license did he tell you that he had a crush on you since that one recital just so he could suddenly poof.

— you didn’t see him until, like, the departure to hogwarts. on the hogwarts express, you confronted him and told him he should’ve told you sooner because you’d been crushing on him since he sneaked you to hogsmeade and BOI HE WAS SO MF HAPPY

— so when you two finally started dating, you two often went on spontaneous adventures. he loves how adventurous and crafty you are. imagine just him thinking “wanna go to ness point?” and you’d be all “why ask? ‘course i do.”

— AND THE COMPLIMENTS. he always tells you he likes your vintage dresses despite teasing you back then for it. “that’s so thirty years ago.” HAHAHAHA naur but he loves them on you and he even finds you clothes he thinks you’d like omfg this man would be absolutely head over heels for you. he’d go to sleep and think “well, nine year old james, you did it, deer.”

I. childhood and hogwarts years:

Rita Skeeter had been a very much wanted child. Her mother had fertility issues and she and her father tried so hard until she came. With her bright blue eyes, cute dimples and blonde hair, Rita charmed every single person that she crossed path with. She was a cute girl, always spoiled by everyone and the apple of her parents’ eyes.

Her family was a typical middle class family, they had all that they needed but not more than that, which was something that made Rita slightly suspicious. In her eyes, her father’s job as a muggle prosecutor (as a muggleborn, he decided to work in the muggle community rather than in the wizarding world) should pay more than he brought home. Her mother was a seamstress in Madam Malkin’s shop, and everyone knew that didn’t pay well.

That stopped mattering the second she set foot in the Hogwarts’ express. Rita was excited, her parents told her everything about Hogwarts and she couldn’t wait to walk those halls. She was marveled by the castle and the floating candles, all the uniforms looked so beautiful and she couldn’t wait to wear hers.

Rita Skeeter was a hatstall. The sorting hat took almost fifteen minutes to decide. There was plenty of ambition and a hunger to prove herself, so Slytherin would’ve been a great house for her. But there was something about how her mind worked and her thirst for knowledge that got her into the Ravenclaw house. She was excited, the blue went lovely with her skin and it matched her eyes.

Life in Hogwarts was… not exactly what she thought it would be. Most classes were boring as hell. With the exception of charms and Transfiguration, Rita made absolutely no effort, just the bare minimum to pass. She would rather spend her time flirting with boys and becoming a social butterfly.

One could often see her hanging out with the popular guys, just sitting on their laps and laughing as they all spilled their secrets to her. She was charming – and some might even call her nosy, but they were just jealous, or so she says – always batting her eyelashes and pouting to get what she wanted.

II. during the first wizarding war:

Rita was not interested in becoming a healer nor working as an auror. Those conventional jobs didn’t suit her right. Instead, she decided to become a journalist. She was good at writing and she knew how to obtain information.

She didn’t join the Order nor the Death Eaters, but she did cover the war. She didn’t agree with Voldemort, but Albus Dumbledore seemed just as shady. Besides, she had good sources on both sides, it was better to remain neutral. Both Death Eaters and Order members were pissed with her, which was a sign that she was doing a good job.

Surprisingly, Rita took her job seriously and she liked the idea of speaking the truth (or more like her truth). Not only that, but she also enjoyed being influential. It was challenging at first, in a male dominated field, Rita had to work three times harder than any mediocre man for her work to be taken seriously. In spite of her rocky and slow start, she began to gain popularity. With her unique point of views, good information and elegant prose; she quickly gained more readers.

But things couldn’t possibly be that easy, right? One night, after meeting one of her sources, Rita was heading back home when she saw a man that looked just like a father come out of a town house. There was a woman (that was not her mother) and two teenagers who were hugging him and calling him ‘dad’. That was the first time in her life that Rita felt properly humiliated. III. where are they now?:

When Voldemort was defeated, Rita hit a wall. She had specialized in covering the war and now there was no more war to cover. Sure, it was the aftermath, but that wouldn’t last forever. So Rita realized that she would have to branch out her content.

She started easy, with profiles and interviews, but they weren’t as successful as her coverage of the war. In a desperate attempt to make things more interesting, she began to add some “colorful details” to her articles. The more “details” she added, the more readers she gained.

The end justifies the means, right? Rita Skeeter is now back and she writes about everyone and everything. She’s not afraid to tackle any topic. Currently, she’s one of the most popular authors in the Prophet, plus, she also published her first book, which was an immediate best seller: “Armando Dippet: Master or Moron?”

gryffindor vs slytherin? no problem. he’d root for muku in a heartbeat.

Lion or Badger?

Day 3 of the April Prompts by @stupendousbookworm

Prompt - In most fans’ head cannons, the sorting hat may have had a difficult time placing MC in a house. The choice would be between two houses. In the end the sorting hat places MC in their current house. If MC were sorted into the other house, how different would things be?

A/N: David was actually a hatstall between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor already, so I just went of that idea for the combination. Also, enjoy Year1!David. Hope you guys like it!

“David Willows!” Professor McGonagall called at last. This was it, he was the very last first year to be sorted. Plenty of students were anxious for the welcoming feast to begin, once he was done they could get to that. Though that wasn’t the main reason why people were looking at him...

“Isn’t that Hall’s brother?”

“The crazy one who went after the Cursed Vaults?”

“Merlin help the house that gets him, Gryffindor’s reputation suffered enough.”

They had no qualms about discussing him so openly, David gritted his teeth at that. He had hoped to finally stop being compared to Jacob, he got enough of that at home, seems he would have no such luck escaping it. Evidently, people didn’t forget these things easily.

Striding past the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw tables, he caught just the briefest glimpse of Rowan Khanna over on Hufflepuff. Unlike most others, she seemed genuinely eager to see which house he would get into, giving an encouraging grin. Most likely, it was in the hopes that he would be sorted into Hufflepuff too. He could only give a nod of acknowledgement.

He honestly had no idea why the girl seemed so determined to be his friend but at least she hadn’t been nasty to him.

All eyes were on David as the sorting hat was placed on his head, its voice soon echoing through his skull.

“Ah, Jacob Hall’s brother. Let’s see what I have to work with here then-”

“Not Gryffindor.” David muttered under his breath, that was the last thing he needed.

“I see.” The hat pondered, “Well you do have ambitions suited for a Slytherin but would you go far enough to see them bear fruit? Creative with a good mind, Ravenclaw could do you well or would philosophical discussion bore you too much? No neither of them will do. That leaves Gryffindor and Hufflepuff.”

David supressed a frustrated sigh at that, God’s sake this stupid hat was annoying.

“Loyalty is what you value most, that would take you in Hufflepuff.” David calmed a bit at that, anything was better than his brother’s house.

“However,” Oh no... “You also have a strong sense of reckless bravery, somewhere inside. Just because you are in young Jacob’s house does not mean you cannot carve your own path.” That was little consolation to David as the hat readied announcement.

“I think I’ll put you in... GRYFFINDOR!”

The reaction was lukewarm at best, only Charlie Weasley managed to clap a bit before stopping when he realised he was the only one doing it. Some students from other houses looking at the lions with obvious pity.

David trudged over to his assigned table, feeling sick, almost swaying in his step. At least if he were in Hufflepuff he might have had some relief from being seen as Jacob’s brother. In Gryffindor, there was more than likely someone with a bone to pick.

He gave his best attempt at mustering an apologetic look to Rowan. For whatever reason she had said she would look out for him. How could she do that when they were in different houses?

He slumped onto the table, elbow resting on it as he put his hand to his cheek. He barely glanced over at the food, happening to catch that he was being stared at. Specifically, by a blond-haired boy, another first year though David didn’t recall the name. Though the boy sitting across from him seemed concerned, David was certainly in no mood to feel judged.

“What are you lookin’ at?” He snapped harshly, causing even a few older Gryffindors to turn their attention to their end of the table.

The boy looked startled as he stumbled over his words, “Oh... well... u-um... I-I was just wondering if you were alright?”

“Fine and dandy.” David scoffed caustically.

“Hey, David come on, he was just trying to be nice.” Charlie interjected gently.

David huffed at that but stuck his hand out, “Thanks for asking, I’m David.” He introduced half-heartedly.

“B-Ben. Ben Copper.” The other boy said, tentatively taking the outstretched hand as if it would rip his arm off.

Okay... not the best first impression to his new house mates and to be honest he was still sceptical but maybe, just maybe he could make it work.

I've gone my whole life thinking people were right to say that Belle is a Ravenclaw, and after watching the original Disney animated version I think I can safely say this: Belle is NOT a Ravenclaw.

Here's Why.

She's a Gryffindor.

Textbook case.

One of the worst I've ever seen.

To start, let's re-cap the qualities of Ravenclaw vs those of Gryffindor

RAVENCLAW

~Basic Qualities~

• Wit

• Wisdom

• Learning

• Intelligence

~Extrapolation~

• Problem solving

• Insatiable intellectual curiosity (asking the 'what if's' of life)

• Extensive reading/study for the betterment of the mind.

GRYFFINDOR

~Basic Qualities~

• Courage

• Chivalry

• Daring

~Extrapolation~

• Stubbornness

• wanderlust (desire for adventure- many Gryffindors seek jobs that travel widely and offer adenvture)

• talent for mischief (almost every famous Gryffindor is notorious for getting into trouble - even ones considered to be goody-goodies)

• insatiable spacial curiosity (aka snooping. Curiosity for Gryffindors regards their surroundings, where Ravenclaw curiosity tends to manifest in a more theoretical, academic plane)

This could be why Gryffindor/Ravenclaw hatstalls are so prevalent- because it takes time to differentiate and weigh their shared qualities beyond the surface. Now keep in mind that the sorting hat tends to weigh the motivations that drive certain qualities, rather than the qualities themselves.

So let us ask this - yes Belle reads a lot. But WHY does Belle love to read? WHAT kind of books does Belle enjoy?

Novels. Fantastic romantic adventure novels.

She wants, as she so eloquently states in her song, adventure.

And let's now look at her behaviour through the story

• She makes what could be considered reckless decisions ("Take me instead!)

• she displays courage (both reckless and true)

• she snoops around in specifically forbidden areas

• never actually admits any wrongdoing after she is caught snooping around

• does not take no for an answer

• passes up a vault full of knowledge in favour of adventure (ie, snooping around)

Think about it

Harry Ron and Hermione are all famous for snooping around out of bounds and after hours (though a difference could be pointed out here that their snooping always has a purpose and they know exactly what rules they're breaking and why, and have decided that the risk is worth it. But MANY other Gryffindors share this reputation for going out of bounds, and for less altruistic reasons, to wit...)

Fred and George also famous for breaking rules, and The Marauders seemed to be at Hogwarts to do nothing BUT get into trouble.

Of course you can juxtapose them with more straightlaced types, like for instance Prof McGonnagall, though she falls under a very specific subtype of Gryffindor: Too Narrow Minded to be a Ravenclaw. Very studious. Very intelligent; but not at all interested in pressing the envelope in terms of what is "possible". As much as I respect Minerva Mcgonnagall, she Learns in order to accumulate knowledge for later use, not for the love of learning itself. I call this stagnant assimilation, and it's a quality she shares in common with Hermione (though in Hermione's case this is much, much more pronounced.)

Now you wanna talk about a REAL Ravenclaw?

Let's talk about Ariel.

This is great juxtaposition, since Ariel and Belle are the heroines of movies that came out back to back.

Like Belle, Ariel feels out of place where she lives and longs to leave.

Also like Belle Ariel is curious and takes an opportunities to explore.

The first, immediate difference I suppose is that Ariel has had lots of opportunity to explore for much of her adolescence, where Belle is more forcefully sequestered simply by circumstance that there's not much adventure of any kind to be had in the Provincial France (while Ariel is still only exploring locally she's had run-ins with adevture that Belle is probably insanely jealous of. SHARK CHASES, i mean come on!) and must satisfy herself with reading exciting stories.

But as courageous as Ariel is, her desires and motivations are telegraphed and stated in a fairly good deal of depth and this reveals the difference in curiosity between these two Princesses.

Belle talks mostly of just leaving; experiencing more than what she has done so far, which lets me conclude that Belle's got true wanderlust and this also hints at that desire for EXPERIENCE being her main motivation. She ends up marrying a rich man who could afford her with that travel while still providing a home base (although that will make him a rather absentee ruler, but that's not what we are discussing here).

Belle needs an adrenaline fix.

Which is why she defies convention, thumbs her nose at a very influential man at the risk of his ire, and directly disobeys her host/ captor when he tells her not to go a certain place. Because in some way, she wants that risk. What could he be hiding? Doesn't matter. She wants to find out because she was told not to look.

Ariel goes exploring ALL the time, and she's also got a place she's been forbidden from going.

That place for Ariel is the Surface.

For Ariel, the motivation to go to the surface isn't idle curiosity. Its a long-standing rule and one she's had trouble following for most of her youth, because she's not looking for the unknown just to get a thrill, but to expand her knowledge of something she's already been exposed to, in a small away.

Finding and collecting surface objects is a passion for her because everything she finds has the potential to teach her something about that world.

She explores because she has a goal and that goal is learning. She doesn't LIKE disobeying her father, but she does so because not exploring limits her opportunity to learn and She. Can't. Stand. It.

It's even implied that the books she's found have helped her learn to read, or perhaps she overheard sailors talking about "fire". What is fire? What is it like, what is it's purpose how does it work? Why does it burn?

"I wanna know what the people know, aske them my questions and get some answers"

Part of the reason Ariel hates living in the same sea her whole life is because ever since she started to learn about the surface, she's found out about so much she never would have without that surface world. She's not just afraid of missing out, she's afraid of living in forced ignorance.

True Ariel also makes some reckless decisions. She also displays stubbornness and curiosity and is unapologetic for disobedience, but her disobedience doesn't invade anyone's privacy (apart from maybe the sailors but I doubt they'd complain) and her recklessness and bravery are merely secondary means to a primary end - learning.

You were good friends with the twins, really good friends. You guys would practice together on days off, you would have them try and hit you with bludgerss as you dodged

Maybe it wasnt the brightest idea but it was fun and helped with your monvuering skills

When Oliver caught on that the twins were practicing the enemy, the Chaser that had been giving him absolute hell never the less, he was pissed

He told them to stop practicing with you but of course they didnt listen so he was a bit fed up when he questioned you

When he accused you of corrupting his teammates and attempting to figure out their plans you had laughed telling him he was kinda uptight

So he began to practice with the twins claiming he needed to keep an eye on you

You had once again laughed at him saying he was weird and went on practiceing

Oliver knew you were good, but watching as you dodged bludger after bludger with ease he began to wish you were Gryffindor you were definitely better than any chaser they had

After a few weeks Oliver may have stopped coming to your practice to make sure you werent stealing his plays

Maybe, just maybe it was becaue you looked super hot

Fred and George caught on quick when their captain started asking about you a bit more than he needed to

Of course he would absolutely not admit to having a crush on you. You had scored more points on him than he cared to count, he absolutely did not have a crush on you

But then you wore that stupid red dress to that stupid party and Oliver decided he may have a crush on you

Fred and George were assholes about it of course, they found his feelings for you hilarious, and they claimed it made for great entertainment

He sat near you in classes, never next to you the last thing he need was you finding out about this

He felt his eyes wander to you during meals and classes he didnt want to be weird but you just so pretty it got hard to keep himself from looking

You were smarter than you were given credit for. You knew almost immediately when oliver strated to like you. He wasnt exsactly as subtle as he thought he was

Before either of you really k ew who the other was you had had run ins, mostly at the quidditch pitch where you you bother eventually agree to practice on separate sides

But now that he liked you he was always there and instead of being on separate sides you would practice together

It worked out well, a keeper and a chaser, you both got in good time

Oliver officially decied it had gone too far when he got distracted during a game

You were hit by a bludger and instead of stay at the goals like he supposed to he flew straight down in efforts to catch you before you hit the ground

He managed to catch your sleeve but the speed at which you feel dragged him off his broom and to the ground

You both tumbled onto the grass, Olvier landing on top of you as Ravenclaw scored another 10 points

He asked if you were okay and you could only nod, as panic finally left you both began to realise that your faces were only inches apart

Oliver went red and stood up mumbling something before helping you to your feet

Just then Lee called another 10 for Ravenclaw and his eyes widened, "oh shit." He ran to his broom and got on it without even sparing you another glance

After the game, you found him thanking him for slowing your fall, you knew he didnt have to and probably would have ended up with a broken arm

He brushed you off but Fred and Gerge would not let him live it down, no way no how they talked about it for weeks, the Oliver Wood had let Ravenclaw score 20 points to save a girl

He was whipped and it seemed everyone knew it, finally when you decied that Oliver wasnt going to do anything you asked him out, well more told him to take you out

He was kind of awkward at first but you found it endearing and kinda adorable

Sweetest boyfriend, would totally give up points to save you again

You are a quidditch power couple, you make bets like whoever's wins gets to pick the movie you watch or where you go on a date

He finds suddenly having to hang out with Fred and George a bit annoying but he gets over it

You practice together constantly, about 70% of your free time is spent on the pitch.

You drag him up to the astronomy tower every so often to look at stars with you

Super protective his competitive nature makes him ready to put down anyone who messes with you

He always tries to one up you, you kiss him, he kisses you back twice as hard, you got him a present he got you four, it's almost annoying except he is just so adorable constantly trying to make you happy

Still gets picked on for being orderly whipped for you

The feeling of being a Slytherin Secondary

Do you know how it is when you feel that you may behave like almost every house of Hogwarts? I do. And this will make you go crazy because every house seems to fit, therefore no house and you will feel lost. To be honest the Sorting Hat of @sortinghatchats said I was a hatstall because I am a Slytherin Primary with a Gryffindor Model, but I am also a Slytherin Secondary with a Hufflepuff and a Ravenclaw Model. This is why I thought I could be anyone and nobody...

Well, my Slytherin Secondary seems to live in his neutral state a lot, I somehow can relate to Klaus Hargreeves from the Umbrella Academy with his neutral state. I simply don’t care at all when I have reached this mental level and it kind of feels good. I feel so strong and free this way. To cut to the chase: here’s my story. Enjoy!

It began early in my youth that I tried twisting rules that everyone else seemed to follow and my fellow pupils didn’t even question these rules. In my eyes, they didn’t make sense at all. We had a nice and big sandbox in our kindergarten. I loved to build sand castles, but the sand was dry and the castles I built crumbled, of course. Nearby we had several planters, but the potting compost was wet, the plants nearly drowned, it was like a sea in the planters. My young me had the idea to take the excess water to wet the sand so I could build wet sand castles that didn’t crumble. I don’t have to mention that I got detention for doing so. But there was never a rule that forbade watering the sand! And I never lost this way of thinking and bending rules until now. Rules are just guidelines - except when they make sense to me, especially for dangerous situations (speeding, not riding on the roof of a train et cetera).

Another situation was when we had to pottery in our classes. I hated it. We got the task to do pottery of a random animal that came into our mind. Well, I was not gifted in doing pottery, so I chose a...walrus. It was big and clumpy, but you could see what it was. But the tusks were missing because I didn’t want to do them. When it came to grading my work the teacher noticed the missing tusks and I explained that this was a female walrus and therefore it had no tusks. The teacher frowned upon this explanation but he accepted it in the end. Of course female walrusses have tusks, only shorter than the male ones, but psst! - he believed my story.

These are just two stories about me adapting to the situation. Acting and responding to a new situation comes to me naturally without any effort. In my job I adapt and manipulate as well, but psst! - no one knows when. You have to wear a mask to get your job done. I have been there. Depending on the type of your job you must lie or “adapt”. If I would tell you what I am exactly doing in my job you would understand. I have to be flexible as a snake. Everyone else I know who has this kind of job in other companies does the same adapting as me. The combination of adapting and doing my job to get the best results is widely known in my company. My boss knows that I am the best in my job, I show up and I get the job done on my own. This is way I got promoted last year.

But my Slytherin secondary performance is not the only thing I can do.

When I was little my mother helped me doing my homework the best way possible. Everything I did had to be the best ever. Like, everrrrr. Whenever I drew out of the line I was corrected because I was doing my work slapdashy and messy. Even for the tiniest mistakes I was being rebuked. To defend my mother: she wanted me to be the best in class, to attend grammar school after the fourth grade and to go to the university later. An in-plant training was never an option for me, it had to be a course of studies at the university. But my grades showed that I was way ahead of my class, I was really intelligent according to my teachers and they recommended to skip so I could attend grammar school two years earlier. I was hardworking, I was striving to be perfect in everything I did. My teachers loved me, I was the favourite pupil of some teachers. It happened that once I was sick for two weeks I didn’t even had to take a make-up exam due to my illness, a favour that none of my fellow pupils had ever been granted. Now I know that I was already building a community: the teachers were my community. Whenever I needed a favour they gave it to me. I loved being loved and valued so I kept using my Hufflepuff model to support my Slytherin ambition by using toil and diligence.

The same goes for my job. I am building a community of people I like and whom I work with on a regular basis. I need them and they need me, it’s a mutual give and take. Whenever I need an favour I’ll get it. I mustn’t tell you that I get some extra information as well. I am told secrets and given information few know about. In difficult situations I am supported by my community, nobody will ever dare to betray me. My position in my company is rather high-ranked, I am the highest ranked woman in my company and I am quite young. Whenever somebody would foul play me they would receive a certain amount of backfire. In every worst case I would win nonetheless. My people know. I’ll have their backs and they’ll have mine. This is how you build a community. Maybe I see myself as a dark Hufflepuff / dark badger, but I think this side is more due to the Slytherin whenever I feel betrayed. I am kind to them, but whenever someone tries to ride roughshod over me they know I will get rather unpleasant and as someone once said “you were intimidating yesterday”. I am trusted by my bosses, I cannot do something wrong. And this is the advantage of having a Hufflepuff model.

My job requires some more skills than adapting and being flexible: I have to be extremely tidy, organised and systematic in doing my job. Every time there is an obstacle in my path I have to gather information to overcome my problems. To do so I have to ask questions, I have to dig deeper than anyone else to know what the fuss is all about. This way I have learned to use a Ravenclaw model. My bird model helps me to stay organised, to use the appropriate methods for the corresponding tasks and to get my job done perfectly. There is no other way. The people I know of who work in a similar job position are the same: they are flexible, they can apply different methods for different tasks and they are the epitome of planners. But whenever a situation goes not as planned my Slytherin secondary turns up and takes over. I am in my neutral blunt state then, behaving like I don’t care at all but my goal is to win, anyhow, even if I do not have a clue yet how I will do it. But in the end the Slytherin in me will behave naturally, the Ravenclaw will be stuck up in this case. There is nothing to rescue with methods and systematic approaches, you have to think fast and no diligence will save you.

My post explains very well how you can discover what will come naturally to you in an (extreme) situation when you have to act fast and think fast. What will you do? You will notice that every model will fade in this very moment. This is how I came to the conclusion that I am a Slytherin Secondary with a strong Hufflepuff model and a Ravenclaw model for specific situations.

A Miraculous Sorting

(I’m writing this under the Christmas tree’s lights, because they take a lot less power than my room’s actual lights, and if I’m going to throw an all-nighter today, I want the electricity bill to be as cheap as possible.)

You know something I really love? Pulling a Sorting Hat at random times. You’ll see me making a sandwich and rambling to myself as to why Rivaille Ackerman is a Hufflepuff. You’ll see me doing the dishes and quietly wondering why Mabel Pines is a Gryffindor. You’ll see me taking a shower and just arguing with myself about whether Ciel Phantomhive is a Ravenclaw or a Slytherin.

The fact is: I love Harry Potter with all my soul and I’ll take any opportunity I get to sort random characters into Hogwarts Houses.

So I thought to myself: hey, why not make a post about it? Mixing my most recent Thing-I-Won’t-Shut-Up-About-For-a-Few-Monthstm (Miraculous Ladybug) and my unexplainable need to analyse characters and put them in Hogwarts? Sounds cool to me. And that’s why you’re reading this. Also, I’m bored.

Anyway, let’s get to it!

Warning: be aware of Spoilers! If you haven’t finished Season 3, I’m afraid you’ll find a buzzling nest of spoilers here, so do be careful!

Warning 2: Sorting is a very sensitive thing and can be interpreted in many ways. This is how I interpret it. Feel free to disagree, I’d love to discuss different opinions!

Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug – Ravenclaw

This was an easy one. Despite her clumsiness and social awkwardness – which make her look a lot more air-headed than she actually is –, Marinette is a perfect match for Ravenclaw!

First of all, we’ve been signed over and over again in the show to how she’s quick-witted, resourceful and strategic, and has got incredible problem-solving skills – even if she’s terrible at managing her time. Practically every episode shows us how quick she is to come up with plans to defeat the villains and how she always makes most of what she has – the Lucky Charm may be the most ridiculous object in the world, she’ll always manage to make a use of it.

Not only as Ladybug, but also in her normal daily life, Marinette seems to be able to strategize and negotiate very well. Take as a few examples: how she manages to hide with Adrien using various strategies (Gorizilla); how she talks to Roland and convinces him to come visit Tom in his birthday (Bakerix); how she hides and runs away with Kagami and Adrien using various diversions (Heart Hunter/Loveater); how she pulls her – in my opinion – most brilliant and convoluted plan to retrieve Tikki and Plagg and keep her identity hidden (Kwami Buster). I mean, we get distracted by her silly shenanigans every now and again, but this girl has some pretty smart moves!

She also operates the team work most of the time, directing when and where to use her fellow heroes’ powers. Not to mention she’s the one to choose who gets to have which miraculous, and she mostly seems to get it right – in this house, we do not talk about the stupidity that went down with Aspik, thank you very much.

Furthermore, Marinette is just plain intelligent. She jammed the Wi-Fi signal using a microwave in Lady WiFi; she engineered her own diary-protection device in Darkblade; she made a home-made projector in The Mime; she neutralizes evil perfume with a chemical explosion in Princess Fragrance; she makes a freaking propeller in Glaciator. She was also mentioned in Ladybug (this name doesn’t get confusing at all) to always get good grades.

As the series goes, Ladybug gets to become a much wiser person. She seems to learn from most of the problems the akumatized victims go through, as well as from her own mistakes – let aside all the Adrien stuff. Yeah.

Last but not least, Marinette is exceptionally creative. I don’t think I need to exemplify this, do I? I mean… If you haven’t noticed how artistically inclined she is and how she is constantly praised for her creativity as a designer and as a superhero – again, think of the Lucky Charms –, I doubt we’re watching the same show.

Not necessarily a Ravenclaw trait, but I’ll add it as a bonus: Marinette handles so many responsibilities at the same time, what a multitasker! She is an independent fashion designer, she does small fashion services – as seen in The Mime, for example –, she is a designer for both Kitty Section and (apparently) Jagged Stone, she babysits Manon and Chris, she helps her parents at the bakery, she studies – again, it’s said that she has good grades, so even if she spends a lot of time saving Paris, she also doesn’t lay off at school –, she makes time to keep her friendships together and she has all her responsibilities as Ladybug, and now as a Guardian. This is all some new level of bullshit a 15 year old human being shouldn’t have to deal with. I’m seriously amazed it took her three full seasons to have a breakdown.

Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir – Hufflepuff

Ok, this was a bit more difficult. I was seriously torn between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor, but, after some deep thinking, I believe Hufflepuff is where Adrien belongs!

Firstly, we’ve seen numerous times how inclusive Adrien is. He was, since day one, willing to give everybody a chance at friendship. This Nino boy I literally just met? My best friend. This Ladybug girl who fell from the sky out of nowhere? I’ll trust her with my life. This girl who hates me because of Chloé? I’ll give her my umbrella and she’s just a friend – Goddamnit Adrien. This Kagami girl I just fenced with and who almost killed me? Friend material right there.

What makes Adrien’s inclusiveness most clear to me, however, is Lila. Despite everything she does, despite all her constant lying, despite her getting people he loves in trouble, he’s still willing to be her friend. We see in episodes like Chameleon, Oni-chan and Ladybug that he’s always willing to give Lila a second chance, to help her out when she needs it, to extend her the hand of friendship and to let her learn with it, because even if he knows she is a jerk, he still wants include her. Is that a bit of a stupid move at this point? Yes, it is. But we appreciate your try, Adrien.

Another Hufflepuff trait that this boy has is patience. I mean, he lives with Gabriel Agreste, the cold critical father who shows affection – or any presence, really – only once every few months; he lives with Plagg, the demanding, pestering kwami who’s determined to not give two craps about doing his job; he’s childhood friends with Chloé “the arrogant and annoying and other things I can’t say out loud” Bourgeois; he’s trying to keep good terms with Felix, who’s competing for “most despicable brat of the year”; and he’s “friends” with Lila. All of this can only be handled by an enormously patient person.

Despite that, Adrien is still somewhat just and fair. This can be seen in Despair Bear, as he says he’ll stop being friends with Chloé if she doesn’t start acting nicer. He also claims he won’t be friends with Lila anymore if she doesn’t get Marinette out of the trouble she caused. It’s also important to note episodes like Riposte, where Adrien’s determined to get a rematch with Kagami due to his believe that her loss was not fair.

The thing that defines Adrien the most and that made me decide for Hufflepuff in the end, however, is his loyalty. Despite everything to ever come his way, he’s extremely loyal.

Firstly, he’s loyal to Chloé, his childhood friend and, for the longest time, his only friend. We can see in the second part of the Origins episode that he won’t tell on Chloé’s behaviour because he “can’t throw her under the bus”. He instantly goes back to being her friend after the events of Despair Bear and seems to be the only one to get sad for her almost leaving Paris in Malediktator.

The person Chat’s the most loyal to is undoubtedly Ladybug. We can see it in multiple instances, as he sacrifices himself in order to protect her in several episodes, stays by her side no matter what and, despite his own desire to know who Ladybug is, doesn’t actually actively try to find her identity (Chat Blanc aside) because that’s what she decided. Even if Chat Noir is constantly portrayed as her mere sidekick and gets the least attention of the duo, he doesn’t show jealousy. He trusts her.

I’ll refrain from making the “Hufflepuffs are particularly good finders” joke.

Alya Césaire/Rena Rouge – Gryffindor

Oh dear… I feel like this one almost reached a Hatstall! It was so hard! Her extreme curiosity and fascination with the world around her made me think of her as a Ravenclaw, while her ambition to get the best information for her blog and connection to the Fox Miraculous – the fox being an animal strongly connected to cunningness – seriously made me think about putting her in Slytherin. But again, after deep thinking, I do think Alya fits incredibly well in Gryffindor!

Let’s start with the fact that Alya is an icon of bravery. She is daring and determined to the point where she is reckless. She is always ready to jump right into action, no matter how dangerous the situation is. If she can either get interesting footage and information or be of any help at all, she will be there, often putting herself in danger in the process. She rarely ever gets intimidated, nonetheless, showing that she has very strong nerve. This can be seen throughout various episodes, ever since Stoneheart and all the way to Feast!

It’s safe to say that Alya has also got a sense of nobility, in a certain way. As seen in episodes like Stormy Weather, Sapotis, and Timetagger, this girl’s got a way with kids and is always willing to protect them. Rena Rouge also shows willingness to help save Paris no matter what, as seen in Sapotis and Syren, for example.

I don’t know if this can be considered nobility as well, but I’ll just leave it here that Alya “Wingwoman” Césaire is a very determined best friend and will do about anything to set Marinette with the boy she loves. I can’t even exemplify this, because this happens way too clearly in almost every episode, folks.

Well… Say what, I’m still confused about this. Alya confuses me. Does anyone have any comment to help me out with this one, please?

Nino Lahiffe/Carapace – Hufflepuff

Ok, I won’t lie: part of this decision is because Nino’s just got too much of that bro vibe for me to imagine him anywhere else. But hear me up, I’ll tell you why he is an amazing Hufflepuff!

First of all, Nino’s absolutely loyal. He’s loyal to Alya; always willing to protect her with his life – that’s how he got his miraculous, after all! –, but they still act as very good partners, friends and couple, and he recognizes she is strong on her own, too. He’s ready to help her out with her “wingmanning” – I’ll exemplify with Puppeteer 2.0 – and with her Ladybug investigations – as seen in Lady WiFi. They even parkour together in Miraculer! (Sorry, I just need more DJ-WiFi in my life)

He’s also loyal to Adrien. We’ve seen it in several episodes: how he wants to make his friend happy and let him be free from his very strict household – good examples would be The Bubbler and Party Crasher –, showing that he is fair to his friend. It’s also important to mention episodes like Simon Says where, after the akuma attack happens, Nino’s first instinct is be to make sure Adrien is alright.

Nino’s also shown himself to be quite loyal to Ladybug, as he never faltered to follow her instructions, even after he gets the Turtle Miraculous.

His friendship with Adrien and Alya overall shows he’s also very inclusive. I mean, Adrien is friends with Chloé, the most hated girl of all school, but Nino just straight up offers to be his new best friend anyway. And although Alya keeps dragging him around to her messes, as soon as they start to talk and notice they have a lot in common, he falls in love with her (Animan).

Nino is a hard worker as well. He is seen DJ-ing almost every party that showed up so far, and he showed himself as extremely dedicated to his movie project in Horrificator.

As a generally laid back guy, Nino can be seen as someone very patient. It is quite difficult to tick him off, therefore it’s rare to see him mad or lashing out at someone. One might say he’s too relaxed at times…

Kagami Tsurugi/Ryuko – Slytherin

Ok, first of all: I love Kagami. And I love Slytherin. So if anyone wants to shit on any of them, you’ll have to go through me first! Wands ready, buddy, I’m a duellist and I’m ready to fight!

Kagami was another difficult one, but mostly because we rarely get to see anything from her personality, given how stoic and reserved she is at the beginning – besides, she’s a newer side character, so obviously she didn’t get to have that much screen time yet. But with what little we’re given, I’ve managed to figure she’d do nicely in Slytherin!

Let’s start pointing out how ambitious Kagami is: during her first appearance in Riposte, she is determined to get to enter the most prestigious fencing school in Paris, and doesn’t even falter upon the challenge of defeating their most talented student; while episodes like Oni-chan show that she’s ambitious to get Adrien (and finish Lila, but that’s all of us). Her acts as Ryuko also goes to show this, as she’s clearly not willing to back down and is always willing to fight and win.

However, she is not unfair, as seen again in Riposte, as she accepts her loss to Adrien was fair – it wasn’t, really –, even if it meant not getting what she wanted.

Although Kagami doesn’t seem to be entirely selfish, she’s one to look after herself (the two are easily mistaken, hence this is seen as a Slytherin “bad trait”). We see it in Desperada, when she ditches fencing class to be able go out with Adrien; in Ikari Gozen, when she disobeys her mother in order to finally make friends; in Loveater, when she comments she doesn’t want to hurt Marinette, but would not give up on Adrien either.

Ikari Gozen also shows that Kagami is level-headed, a natural leader, and rather cunning, given not only her strategies to deceive her mother in order to play the friendship game, but also her behaviour during the game and as Ryuko. This episode, along with Riposte and Frozer, for example, demonstrates that she strives to be the best at what she does.

We see it in Animaetro how she doesn’t let herself be intimidated.

Kagami is decided, as seen in Frozer, Desperada and Loveater. She doesn’t hesitate.

Luka Couffaine/Viperion – Hufflepuff

Oh, you thought I was going to finish this without sorting my snake boy?

Easy one. Very easy. Once you put aside the thought of Snake = Slytherin and Blue = Ravenclaw, it gets quite visible how Luka is the perfect Hufflepuff!

First of: he’s an extremely just person. One of the main themes of the episode Silencer is how he demands justice for his band and friends.

Luka has also shown himself to be immeasurably selfless. This is seen in basically all of the episodes he has an appearance on, but I’ll name Captain Hardrock (he gives his guitar pick to Marinette upon seeing that she likes it + stays behind to help her escape The Liberty), Desperada (he puts himself in harm’s way to help Ladybug and Adrien escape + he lets Adrien borrow his guitar without a flinch), Felix (literally everything he says in this episode), Miracle Queen (he sacrifices himself to the evil wasps) and Loveater (the scene where he drops his bicycle and his beloved guitar to comfort Marinette is some symbolic selfless beautiful shit and I’m about to cry).

In the same theme, he is notably kind. He’s never a hostile person – safe for Silencer, but that was a special occasion – and always seems to greet everyone with a smile and – when he finds them – kind words. I’ll exemplify using Adrien: despite knowing pretty well that Marinette is in love with the model boy, Luka was never once bitter towards him, treats him like any other friend (watch Desperada, Frozer and even Chat Blanc. Watch closely) and even states that he’ll be happy for them if they end up together (Felix).

I’ll also mention how supportive of a brother he is (Reflekdoll is our main example, though I need more Couffaine Siblings’ interaction, please) and how he gives Marinette a bicycle ride to the Grand Paris Hotel (Loveater) to help her; he didn’t need to do that at all.

We can see that what he wants the most is for Marinette to be happy, even if it’s not with him. He’s there to support the people he loves no matter what and respects their wants and needs. Take some notes, Chat Noir (ok, kidding. I love you, Chat. But do take notes).

Luka is the definition of patience. I mean… Let’s talk about Desperada, where, right after he confessed his heart to Marinette, she just ignores him and straight out treats him like trash to favour Adrien (I’m not blaming Mari, tho; I know she’s a confused little bean and didn’t mean any harm). What does he do? He shrugs it off with a smile and keeps his cool unfaltering. Furthermore, he never seems to expect anything from Marinette after that declaration.

Plus, when he’s chosen to receive the Snake Miraculous, one of the things he does best is to watch patiently for the opponent’s moves to know the best strategy to take.

Plus plus, he lives in a houseboat with Juleka, the Anxious Horror Loving Sister, and Anarka, the Chaotic Havoc Mum. I love the Couffaines, but living in The Liberty must be a nightmare sometimes.

Another point to take in consideration would be how Luka is a hard-worker. Despite him being pretty chill and laid-back, we often see Luka composing and/or practicing for Kitty Section. Not only that, but we also see in Loveater he has a job as a delivery boy through Paris. On a bicycle.

To wrap this up, I’ll say that Luka is pretty empathic. Just take his whole “reading people and translating them/their feelings into a song” thing we see in Captain Hardrock, Frozer and Loveater. I rest my case.

Phew, we’re done!
