Hey, first: love your 2 arms left comic, second: was curious when the first future Leo started calling Leo "Sprout". I'm trying to find the first time it was done but there is a lot to go through so was hoping you could steer me to it.

Not sure there was an exact, definitive moment for that in the comic, it just sorta became an everyday nickname and stuck at some point :) If there was a first, it probably started from a conversation like this

something about dr james barry and me this year is that I may lean into the mythology aspect of him more for myself, and interact with him in the fictional lens rather than the purely historical -- this to say that for a lot of my previous barry posting it's been me sifting through materials and getting weirded out by cisnormative anxieties, and trying to find the absolutely truth so that nobody can argue with me, because I know I'm "right," and I'm over that now.

will reread it all with a different lens and engage with the story of barry as I would want to see it told, which I've done a bit of already, but feeling kind of guilty, a bit wishy-washy in my own head, because ooh am I not participating in all of this obfuscation but from my biases (yes) and projections (yes), which are simply different for being inherently trans and so less allowed in the public eye (yes). so this will be an exercise in not being apologetic of a trans historicity lens and fully embracing what I've already told myself I'd embrace but wasn't quite ready to in the way I think I am now: the story of dr james barry, doctor, surgeon, abolitionist, activist, and gay irish trans man, who travelled and practiced around the southern hemisphere as a gentleman, an impulsive duellist, an open ideallist, a great deal of trouble to the british army, and a great story!

I wanna share a lighthearted headcanon of mine. So, I’ve always imagined that Regulus and Sirius look almost completely identical, just a handful of minor differences and Sirius was just a bit taller, so imagine the Hogwarts students coming up to one Black and desperately hoping it’s the one they’re looking for, only to realize it’s the brother. A good way to tell is to look at their tie, but RIP anyone who sees them out of uniform or from the back. Normally the people they’re with the best indicator, but it sucks when they’re alone so nobody can tell. Sometimes, when they’re on decent, friendly terms, they even switch ties, to the dismay of everyone else. Both Sirius and Regulus have started responding to the other’s name, and they hate this fact.

Remus, approaching from the back: Hey, Sirius, McGonagall is looking for you

Regulus, without looking over: Wrong brother, no clue where Sirius is, good luck and goodbye

i do think the differences are pretty obvious once u get to know them. like u said, sirius is taller. he’s also a bit more,,,sharp-featured? like reg has some baby fat he absolutely loathes but it never rly disappears. sirius is skinnier overall tho, and he has really bony hips & other joints. they loved playing this to their advantage when they were kids—posing as each other, sirius pretending to be regulus and taking any of his punishments, annoying guests who come to their house etc. bit as they grow older and differences started arising, they tried doing whatever they could to distinguish each other. regulus had longer hair, like their father, and preferred smoothing it back to look older. sirius was more on the shorter, spikier hair end. (he was trying to replicate some muggles he’d seen & also it made him look more similar to james ykno?) but yah, sometimes even that wasn’t enough and u have instances like this.

i feel like people are skimming over the uk riots in a way that makes me want to tear my hair out. muslims in the uk are in active danger. immigrants in the uk are in active danger. refugees in the uk are in active danger. people of colour in the uk are in active danger. asian communities in the uk are in active danger. black communities in the uk are in active danger.

there are massive far right riots throughout the country right now and people like fucking elon musk and nigel farage are inciting it and still have a platform to speak. people have used three young girls deaths, people's genuine grief in southport, to try and gain traction for their own racist bullshit and it's working.

a lot of refugee charities have been forced to close leaving many people without support, homes, funding, food, etc. if you aren't able to donate please consider sending a message via the conversation over borders campaign! it will send a hopeful, welcoming letter to a refugee in the uk. there is also a guide to staying safe here.
