- the kind of dad who isn't exactly strict but he tends to go.. a little overboard?

- like he's completely alright with you going out, shopping, going somewhere with friends. but the catch is you have to update him whenever you guys go somewhere different, your location should always be on, you have to send him pictures or videos as updates if typing might take too long, etc.

- he's only overprotective when he's not there. (obviously) but it really also just depends on what you're doing. if it's a situation you've been in a lot, let's day shopping for books, going to the mall with or without your siblings, if he's able to trust you in these scenarios then he'll hold back a little bit.

- but on times where you're just really far away with friends, or you're hanging out with a group of people he's not completely familiar with, you'll definitely have to comply with his rules and stuff.

- he's only like this because he cares a lot about you and your siblings.

- HOWEVER

- having significant others is a different story. he's a lot stricter with the rules, especially if its like a new person who's been dating you for like half a year.

- his rules tend to be from a scale of "you have to be taken home by 6 pm" to "you can't hold hands because I'm not convinced they wash their hands". it's lowkey ridiculous sometimes but he does try to be less overbearing.

- the scolding when he finds out about your s/o tho is... scarier?

- i don't think he usually notices how scary he can be, but the moment you stepped inside the house he turned on the intimidation factor off the roof.

- he had his arms crossed, the brows were furrowed, he was looking at you like you just committed the most offensive crime possible in human history.

- you got grounded uhm... he wasn't happy. not because you have a s/o, but purely because you kept it from him.

- he acts like he hates your s/o too but genuinely though, he's happy that you've found someone that makes you feel special.

- you're still grounded for a month though, couldn't go on dates until then.

- amidst the strictness, he does genuinely try to get along with your significant other and is content knowing that you have someone to look after you, especially at times where he's too far away to physically look out for you.

Prince Charming: Chigiri Hyoma

- chigiri... isn't exactly like sweet looking per se? but his demeanor is definitely comforting in a way, because of how charming he is.

- so a lot of the time your friends are comfortable in your family especially because of how chigiri's demeanor is. but they do know not to get on his bad side yk.

- the s/o situation is... a big contrast in a sense.

- bc chigiri is still charming, invites them inside to eat yk. asks questions about how they're treating you, and if they promise to take care of you. yk normal stuff.

- unfortunately he's the type to intimidate your partner the moment you turn your back.

- he glares and starts threatening your s/o that if they ever hurt you, he'd be less than impressed and happy after all the promises they've given chigiri about treating you right.

- your s/o is lowkey traumatized bc how does a man, so charming and pretty, also be one of the scariest people they've ever encountered.

- honestly you're not surprised. you've seen your father use his charm for things less than... righteous. (he's used his charm and his pretty face to bargain for prices in the market too many times. it is a must, people)

- all in all though, i see chigiri as the type to take a very long time to adjust to your s/o, and over time, he tries to let loose a little more and slowly understand that someone else is bound to find you worth taking care of just like he does.

- man does no wrong. he's on board with your s/o, and is loving the fact that you have someone to take care of you whenever he's away.

- is a genuine sweetheart. i would say that he's the opposite of chigiri where hes the sweet but is actually intimidating type, whereas isagi is the intimidating at first type but is actually just a super sweet dad.

- he's used to a lot of people liking you, and he's upset the moment he finds out that they've hurt you, so he has some trust issues about this s/o.

- this definitely showed the moment he found out you had an s/o you hadn't told him about yet.

- the moment he finds out about your s/o, he's the type to shed a tear. and you don't know how to feel because your dad is... crying??

- he'd tell you that he's happy, and that he wants to meet your s/o as quick as possible.

- he tries to make your s/o feel as welcome as possible, and he makes sure that they know that they're always welcome in the house.

my personal top five in no particular order, and like, ya gotta understand im still new here (hermitcraft/life series) so my opinions are poised to change, but the current standings are:

Bdubs/Etho/Cleo, i'll be honest, i haven't written or read any clethubs, but i saw some art of them that made my brain shortcircuit. they are femdom, himbo, and twink. i just think that Etho should have two people who are stronger than he is on either side of him at all times, bonus points if you let Cleo be the tallest. Bdubs being super clingy, Etho reluctantly tagging along, and Cleo making sure they don't fucking die because yeah they are god damn idiots sometimes, but they're her idiots. and she loves them. and probably gives them noogies and headlocks them.

Cleo/Etho, their marriage in limlife is so much fucking fun, especially when read under an aro4allo lens. Etho whose been happily married for over a decade watching his friends enter relationships and realizing that he loves differently, he doesn't even love remotely close to how they love, love isn't even the right word. hes scared so he leaves, hes not doing it right and his wife must be upset about it, that must be why everythings crumbling. and Cleo, not giving two shits, because that's her husband and by god they're gonna make it work if he can realize that being absent is whats breaking up their marriage, not showing affection and intimacy differently.

Gem/Etho, as a canadian i am legally obligated to ship this, as a lesbian i love it when men have chaotic gremlin girlfriends who put them in their place. see that one episode of hermicraft wherein Gem beats his ass on repeat and he keeps coming back for more. its like, like theres an unspoken solidarity, 'hey we're the same even though we're not' and they stick with each other. predator/prey dynamic if you go with deer Gem and fox Etho, you also get it with sea monster Gem and fox Etho, except he's the prey and she has the biological advantage instead. also, when paired with the transfemme Etho headcanon we get some yuri which im always down for.

Grian/Etho, this one came to via an Ao3 commenter and i have seen two pieces of fanart for it and like, seven fics. but i still think the dynamic of bird and fox would be fun to work with in writing depending on the bird Grian is hybridized with, especially if Grian is the smaller one. also in limlife??? hello?? Etho, swearing loyalty and promising to be someones sword is not heterosexual behaviour. what they had in limlife, even if brief, had me shaking i'll be real. also, for their hermitcraft dynamic, it'd be hot if i threw Scar into the mix, for flavour.

Pearl/Etho/Tango, consensual workplace relationships make me absolutely insane, it could tear apart their business or bring it further together. they have the kind of dynamic that makes my head absolutely fucking empty, one of those 'i just think theyre neat' kind of ships. the culture clash between each of their species and their own personal tastes, Tango's a blaze and they mate for life, Pearl's a siren and they don't do much for romance, Etho's a fox and they come and go- but they make it happen in spite of that. im working on getting them a canonized Ao3 tag right now, they have such a fun dynamic. also, they fucked in that post office when no one was looking.

tbh these are all really closely tied, and i also have a soft spot for tangtho and the team ties poly. they're all really fun ships, i just really enjoy polyships to be real with ya'll. and the life series and hermitcraft are full of so many possible polyships that its just making me foam at the fucking mouth. sorry boat boys enjoyers, the vision has not yet engulfed me, but hey im a multishipper it might be yet to happen.

hi it's kinda life altering to be told straight up "your only option is surgery."

like i went to my therapist and she was like "well for my arthritis they've been giving me steroid injections and that helps so they'll probably do that to you too" and going. ok. cool. so i might go into this appointment and be told that i can just get some steroid injections and be fine. nice.

and then i go to the appointment and he's like "ok so here's what's on your MRI. your options are surgery to repair the labral tear, but your arthritis means that will probably not do much for you. you could get a total hip replacement, but you're a bit young for that. i recommend the hip preservation surgery, they try to preserve your natural hips but resurface them so they don't have the same issues anymore"

and hearing that i was like oh cool something not super invasive, still pretty bad, worse than injections, but not the worst. and then i look it up and it's like "this surgery is not recommended for patients with moderate or severe osteoarthritis" (my mri shows moderate but i have a lot of the symptoms of severe) 😑

so now i'm just like trying to come to terms extremely quickly with the fact that im probably going to need a prosthesis installed in me. maybe even two. and they're going to have to make me almost entirely incapable of taking care of myself for like 3 months. so like i want it all done at once but the more complex the procedure the scarier it is for me and im just.

i'm scared i'm so scared my entire life and all of my thoughts have been revolving around this and i just want to get it over with as fast as possible but i can't schedule it for like, tomorrow and get right into the recovery so i just have to sit in this fear and get more and more scared because ill be so much more reliant on everyone else than i already am and im scared. im so scared.

and worse i'm scared my insurance won't cover it and i'll just be unable to work because of my hips and im scared that i won't be able to get disability but also not be able to work so ill just be stuck in constant pain and have no ability to care for myself and there'll be nothing i can do about it until im "old enough" to get the surgery or whatever and idk

idk all of this is terrifying. this is all so horrifying and scary. i just want my body to work so i can take care of myself i don't want to be reliant on people to live but im going to have to become more reliant on people for a Long time before i can become self sufficient and that's honestly super scary. and also im scared im going to fuck my wound up because i have adhd and i constantly fuck things up because i forget how to do things and i forget to do things and im worried im gonna get fucking sepsis and AGGHHHH

i'm just going insane i can't stop thinking about it i can't get it out of my head im so scared. i'm so scared and im tired and i just want it done already.

Lila may be put on a slight backburner for now. I will scrap the three moms plot, because that's just??? How the fuck does she pull that off?? As far as Canon, she was still a teen who was going down a dark path and in this AU she unfortunately didn't get help and has continued said dark path. How much she's done in the meantime is up in the air, but having her still as a con artist is probably on the table. That said, I need to hammer out her motivations and what she plans to do should she get the Miraculous because like. As petty as she is I'm not going to say she's still miffed about Marinette calling her on her shit.

Derision is.... kinda both? I have a rewrite for this anyway but short version: yes Chloé was a bully and pulled pranks. This was another prank. No, not everyone was scared of her it's still the Origins-level and the prank wasn't quite as cruel because no feelings were involved(also maybe fake spiders instead of real ones). I'm saving Kim's character by 1.) having him semi-unaware of the prank? LIke Chloé tells him they're pulling a prank and he's on board but he doesn't know what's in the box and also 2.) afterward he's like 'yeah no that one was mean' instead of 'it's just a prank bro!'. Mari was hurt by it but not Super Extremely Traumatized™, and it has nothing to do with her stalking Adrien(that was just her being a bit lovesick and she addresses it in a much healthier way another time)

Gabriel is.... a bit up in the air. I am going with his Season 4-5 self so I'm not redeeming him. I can't /quite/ figure out a way he'd win that would have Mari and Adrien resort to using the Wish to stop him without having him use the Wish first and they reverse it. So either they reverse his Wish, or Gabriel's Wish in the first place included blocking all of the other Miraculous Users from being able to use the Miraculous so they can't undo his Wish. I'll debate on what to do with this one, and we also debate on Emilie and Nathalie's fates. If they reverse the Wish then Gabriel's probably alive but in jail and the Team would spend time finding how to fix Emilie and Nathalie(probably gonna be nice and fix them). If it's just Gabe gets the Wish and blocks them from fixing it, then he's dead but Nathalie and Emilie are fixed. Sill have to debate on /how/ he manages to get the Wish because I don't want Marinette to be a fucking moron but ya know.

I am working with the Sentikids plot! But I'm adjusting a few things!!

1.) Adrien, Felix and Kagami are Special and the other Sentis aren't Sapient Beings, so there's no moral issue over how many Mari killed or Felix making tool ones like Red Moon and OUAT. With this also comes the option to free them from their Amok's control.

2.) I'm having Tomoe be a lot better. She loves Kagami, though she did have her business deals with Gabriel. She's not as much a part of the supervillain thing past 'Gabriel has the Peacock and he can snap my daughter out of existence so I will do what he asks'. She's far from perfect, but her hands are tied for a while. And even when Felix gets the Peacock, not only is she unsure of if Felix is a threat to Kagami or not, but she's also in too deep and if Gabriel goes down so does she

3.) I'm bringing Felix's whole thing down a LOT of notches. He doesn't hate all of Humanity, he just hates the few in specific who treat him and the others like tools. So in Emotion, he only kills Gabriel and Tomoe, knowing Gabriel is like Colt and assuming Tomoe is as well when he finds out Kagami is a Senti. He does realize he's wrong later when he's eavesdropping and trying to find ways to get Kagami out of her situation and sees that her mother loves her. Their romance is also more slowburn instead of immediately hooking up.

Also an overall change: Adrien knows about what's going on and we have a proper reveal goddamn it!!

i watched season 1 and caught up with season 2 of mashle in like a day and a half

blame bling bang bang born, that opening is so fucking catchy that i guilt-tripped myself into watching the anime because it didn't feel fair to stream without at least watching the first ep

you would think since lack of magic keeps finding its way into the gene pool and subsequent offspring these people would do more soul searching and question it!

I also think its really interesting how everyone suffers in the eugenics society, it is not just having magic, you have to have good magic otherwise you are just as worthless as the nonmages. You may hold yourself to a higher standard and think yourself superior but you are essentially still trash. Having magic isn't enough you have to be perfect all the time. Everyone suffers even the talented mages cause the slightest imperfection means you are lesser than dirt. You can't tell me this world is happy and blissful when anyone slightly out of the ordinary lives in fear of someone coming to strangle them in the night.

the story also acknowledges this there are tons of people who think they are superior to mash because they have magic even when they themselves are incredibly weak. like shoutout for commentary on racism and racial supremacy on how the weakest of people will act prideful and egotistical at the chance to walk over others.

i love mash, he's cute, i find his empty-headedness endearing i thought i would grow tired of his gimmick but I am pleasantly entertained. he's the realest guy ever

moonlight - this is my favorite song off the album, and it has the most wayv 1.0 feel. it's got their signature sweeping orchestral instrumental and the dramatic prechorus to the vocal bridge w/ the xiao dejun signature belting. this would have kicked ass as a title track. from the very first millisecond this sounds like classic wayv

lighthouse - among my mutuals i am a noted ballad apologist... and i don't usually like wayv ballads (i hated face to face with a passion and similarly couldn't stand horizon) but this is good.... ballad-haters might quibble and say that all ballads are the same/boring, but i think this one doesn't fall into the low-energy pit that their others do. the chorus is super strong and memorable, and i can see myself reaching for this all the time. like, no ballads are high-energy, but this one has momentum!!

be alright - the obligatory feel-good concert closer of every nct album is the bane of my existence but i actually vibe w this one... the bass line is cute and bouncy and the chorus has those wayv orchestral instrumentals. i'm honestly so relieved that be alright was good, because it was potentially going to be the weakest link, as the feel-good closer always is, but yeah..... closing the loop and making this into a true no-skip album for me <3

CB-808 (agent 8, she/her) and Bubbles (agent 8 AGAIN, a SECOND TIME, CAN YOU TELL EIGHT IS MY FAV, he/him)

they're "twins", meaning they both woke up without any memories, saw that they were the only two nearby who looked similar (being the only non-sanitized octolings in the metro) and assumed that meant they were twins

they do all of the tests in octo expansion as a duo! this makes some tests easier (like girl power station) and others much harder (like the one with the dualie squelchers and the grindrails, since they have to share the weapon between them)

this kinda fucks with the computer systems and all their mem cakes are blended (lmao) together. they have to work together to figure out whose memories are whose, to varying success levels

very very very codependent. theyll get anxious if you take the other to another room where they cant see each other. proto (cap3) convinced them to do one test separately and CB got so worked up she punched the side of the carriage and permanently dented it

they didnt try a second time

ON THE TOPIC OF CB DENTING THE METAL: shes freakishly strong, in an artificially-modified way rather than a very-strong-but-normal way

after the splatoon 1 campaign, elite soldiers deserted en masse since nearly all of them were at the concert/final-battle, leaving a gaping hole in the octarian military. in an attempt to fill that gap as quickly as possible, volunteers were "purposed" to become enhanced super-soldiers

(ill probably make a dedicated post abt it when i remember but "purposing" is what they do to make octarians (the stubby tentacle guys) into all the different forms you see in-game. debateably ethical to begin with, SUPER unethical to do to actual octolings)

im bad at timelining but she signs up to this when she's like,,, 13. still kinda blobby

functionally, what it did to her was make her freakishly strong (she breaks the handles on doors ridiculously often) and about 50% more resistance to enemy ink. girls a tank. however, she has trouble regulating her strength and therefore cant superjump accurately since she overshoots her target every time

it's also super painful. she permanently lost her voice from screaming too much and cant speak any louder than a whisper, but she knows octarian and inklish sign languages so she gets along fine

her name is CB-808 bc that was the serial number printed on a livestock tag in her ear

BUBBLES ON THE OTHER HAND. not physically fucked up. mentally though................

his parents were some of the elites who deserted after hearing the Inkantation (in my headcanons it's something that can be resisted, but only temporarily). he wanted their approval more than anything so them leaving him was devastating

hes not actually a dude he just think he/him is a cool set of pronouns. heard someone say "him" once and absorbed it into his gender

he lied abt his age to become a scout/reconnaisance (how you spell that??), even if nobody was really gonna check given the situation after splat1

where CB is built like a tank, he's tall and lanky, and also scarily smart. combined with his lack of filter he'll literally just stare at you for 5 seconds before saying some shit like "oh i see. youre scared of us because of our competence and your perception of our alleigances compared to urs"

captain 3 is scared by him more than CB. as they should be.

his name is Bubbles because he has circular markings on his upper arms and CB is not very good at coming up with names (shes an amnesiac teenager give her a break)

theyre both 15 during octo expansion, and 20 by splatoon3

after reaching the surface they move in with flora (4) and his roommate bola (oc) to form the Leftovers Squad, an inksports team and maybe-gang

these two are wonderfully terrible influences and teach the two of them how to defy authority n shit, it's great, ill talk abt it more in their specific sections

CB mains the dynamo but plays it like a splat roller because she's so strong she can swing it with about that speed. Bubbles mains the e-liter and has nutty aim. the kind of duo that makes people realize theyre ex-soldiers

both of them are too obedient to authority, leftover habits from the military even if they don't fully remember their time there. CB is much worse in this regard, since she was more heavily conditioned to follow orders and Bubbles is observant enough to realize when theyre being taken advantage of

FLORA (agent 4, he/she used interchangeably)

part of the Leftovers Squad! a young punk squid that revels in rebellion and violence and showing people what's what

almost entirely deaf. he had pretty bad hearing to begin with, but loud raves without ear protection worsened it significantly. his hero headset functions as hearing aids but he doesnt usually wear them unless he's on NSS missions or patrols or w/e

came to inkopolis when she was 14, but it wasnt intentional. her parents were the kind of awful perfectionists that expected their children to be equally as perfect, so decided to leave flora in inkopolis bc she did awful in school

he was taken under Bola's fin (get it it's a fish pun theyre fish im hilarious) and became enamoured with the adrenaline-fueled, bloody-mouthed rush of fighting, in and out of inksports

the best way i can describe her is "violent for the sake of violence and gleeful about it". she starts a fight with someone twice her size just for the fun of attacking and taking a beating. probably something wrong with her. i love her with every fibre of my being

has absolutely zero respect or trust in authority -- especially adults, which includes Marie since she's 19 in splat2 and he's only 16

still goes along with her whole "hey go save the zapfish" spiel because A) she cant actually hear what marie is saying B) marie gave her some free fancy hearing aids so she GUESSES she has to return the favour somehow C) she wants to fight some octarian soldiers D) she wants to steal her own zapfish (she succeeds, it gets a tank in Leftover Squad's living room) and E) she thinks itll be REALLY funny to fuck with marie

shes right btw. its hilarious

she only follows orders when it's funnier than disobeying them. she puts zapfishes back in levels she wants to complete a second time. she teaches octolings how to play poker (and how to cheat at poker). she lets a squee-g splat her "to see what it feels like"

if callie wasn't missing marie would NOT put up with his bullshit, but alas.

respects agent 3 even less than marie, when they meet, since at least marie has a sense of humour

he's the one who suggests that CB and Bubbles move in with him and Bola after Octo Expansion. less out of his own goodwill and more out of a combination of morbid curiousity and a sense of "bola has a habit of taking weird inkfish under their fin, walking in with two soldiers will be really funny"

gets hypnoshaded 5 years post-splat2 (during the splat3 campaign) and has to be rescued by the leftover Leftovers (lmao) and Off the Hook. octavio doesnt really convince her to put them on, theres no realistic way he could do that, so he physically overpowers her and puts the shades on

he gets rescued tho! so it's all good and absolutely no interpersonal issues come from it i swear (lying)

Bola (they/them, not an agent)

another member of Leftovers Squad and, arguably, its leader

is about as comfortable with violence as flora (read: very comfortable) but, unlike him, doesn't enjoy it for its own sake. when they do a violence, it's for a specific aim and a purpose, even if that purpose seems inane or petty

theyre the leader of the leftovers mostly because theyre the only one with a goal or any sort of purpose. also because theyre by far the most charismatic of the bunch but mostly bc theyre the only one with any direction in life. the other three are happy to just help with that

(calling it a purpose is doing it too much justice, it's a grudge. a massive fucking grudge against Squidforce as a brand and an institution and a company. they want that thing obliterated)

when they first came to inkopolis (they were like 12), they werent a citizen of inkadia so they had no ID and weren't allowed to do official Squidforce battles, so they went to unofficial/illegal/unregulated turf wars to make some cash

this got shut down by squidforce

they decided "no. fuck this. fuck you, im gonna fuck every single one of you over, die." and swore vengeance about as dramatically as a then-13 year old could. luckily, bola was a very dramatic, kinda blobby 13 year old

they met flora when he came to inkopolis and introduced him to the concept of You Can Just Fight These People If You Don't Like Them

would have agreed to housing CB and Bubbles if Flora had just asked but this is fine they guess

theyll be the last to admit they have a compassionate streak, but they have a soft spot for the underbelly of inkopolis and everyone who lives there, most of which are underrepresented or downtrodden by the system that squidforce upholds

theyre an octoling but not an octarian (citizen of octaria, the nation that lost the great turf war and now lives in the domes) like CB and Bubbles are

instead, theyre a weird subspecies of octoling that went back in the water while the "normal" species of inkfish stayed on the surface. they still have most of the same features as an inkfish, like the shapeshifting, but have more aquatic adaptations like gills and razor sharp teeth and being able to swim in water unharmed (ik inkfish dying in water is only dubiously canon but for my headcanons normal inkfish dissolve like ingame if they fall into water)

they also have sepiism! better described in this post this means their ink/tentacle colours are limited to blacks and browns. their subspecies is more prone to this colour mutation than other inkfish since black is a pretty good camoflague colour if youre in the deep ocean. idk i wanted an excuse to make them look cool dont think abt it too hard

they absolutely despise proto (captain 3). aint no world where theyd trust the militaristic authority figure that orders around the two ex-soldiers theyre trying to teach how to be independent

not to mention the grudge they form against the captain after the hypnoshading incident that i will elaborate on i PROMISE its in the next section

aFTER I TALK ABOUT THE LEFTOVERS SQUAD AS A WHOLE. IF I CANT ESCAPE THEM NEITHER CAN YOU

when they meet, post octo expansion, the twins are 15 and the punks are 16, so theyre 20 and 21 respectively by the time splat3 rolls around

flora gets squidnapped just after splat3 campaign (which lasts like a day for reasons that will be evident once i get to neo 3 and "little" buddy), so proto and the squid sisters are in alterna monitoring the situation and doing cleanup while it happens. this will be relevant later. foreshadowing is a technique where--

a couple months after the twins move in, CB discovers inksports and makes the biggest saddest puppy dog eyes at the rest of the squad until they agree to making a league team together. it's also called the leftovers

CB and Flora love it because they enjoy physically fighting people (CB likes that she doesnt have to be permanently hurting people during it, Flora would like it better if there was a lil permanent injury tbh). Bubbles enjoys it because his sister enjoys it and also because he enjoys using his big brain to do sick predicts and snipe people from across the map where he's nice and safe. Bola only joins at first because telling the ex-soldier, who theyve been trying to convince that you dont need peoples permission to do things, "no" would be counterproductive. they hate every moment they have to fight in a squidforce battle. but then once the team gets well-known they realise that squidforce cant get rid of them anymore and uses their platform to absolutely troll the shit out of squidforce

like when they go on interviews and stuff they constantly mention how shitty squidforce is and "yeah i personally prefer [smaller organisation]'s inksports, they have way better maps and modes, squidforce just has a monopoly so..." and squidforce cant do shit bc theyre the charismatic face of this popular new team and itd be bad publicity

CB and Bubbles dont have real IDs cause theyre amnesiac teenagers who made up their own names. flora and bola get them fake IDs that claim CB stands for Courtney Blitz, making bubbles into Bubbles Blitz

CB often gets called Clam Blitz. CB does NOT appreciate this. Bubbles thinks it's hilarious and only answers people who call him "Blam Blitz" for like a week

Bubbles mains the E-liter but likes lots of different anchors, CB exclusively plays her "splat roller" (a dynamo swung really fast), Flora learnt how to play every weapon from the splat2 campaign and can play basically anything (but usually goes for something close-range so his bloodlust gets put to good use. heavy weapons tend to turn into bludgeons in his hands) i dont know what bola would use tbh. i wanna say a splatana but this is set mainly in splat2 so they wouldnt have those. if anyone is still reading this far pls make suggestions in the notes 👍

CB and Bubbles dont have any sense of money (in my hcs, the domes work more on a communal property + bartering system) so they have no reason to object to pearl giving them inordinate amounts of money. bola and flora have to have a conversation where they ask whether pearl is their sugar daddy. this is agonising for everyone involved.

they used the money to buy an unreasonably large bed that they all sleep on together bc theyre my ocs i make the rules

Proto (captain 3, they/them)

i shld probably start at the beginning for them bc their actions through all the games are the catalyst for a Lot of plot

they were raised in calamari county, their parents were friends with callie and maries parents so they hung out a bunch when they were kids. basically the third squid sister, though they get way too bad stage fright to become idols like the other two

hanging out with those two so much also meant a lot of exposure to cap'n cuttlefish. proto idolised him to no end, decided they wanted to be just like him when they grew up

when the squisters went to inkopolis to become idols, proto became their manager. they were also recruited alongside callie and marie into the NSS when craig decided to reform it. ive never actually watched a playthrough of splat1 so i dont actually know how the plot works other than "craig is there and then callie & marie are there" so the next part is probably gonna be more canon parallel than canon adjacent

also because im just making up random shit about splat1. thats probably also a factor

in this version of canon, the octarians dont steal every zapfish you grab at the end of the levels, only the ones used for the boss levels. all the rest are ones owned by the octarians, mostly bred in captivity cause where tf else are you gonna get the power for running the domes

proto isnt an active agent in splat1, it's callie and marie who go in and do the fighting while proto is the one coordinating them and making plans. their plan is to steal all these extra zapfish to strain the domes' resources and then perform the inkantation during the final confrontation to make the maximum number of soldiers (especially elites) desert, all so they become incapable of stealing more zapfish or launching a retaliatory strike

and cap'n cuttlefish approves so surely that means that this is a good plan and any suffering caused is a necessary evil and it's not like this paranoid old man has any biases or grudges that would impede his judgement. surely not

side note: instead of inner agent 3, CB and Bubbles have to fight inner agents 1 & 2. inner-callie targets CB and inner-marie targets Bubbles because i think the roller-charger parallel is cool

the plan works! elites and soldiers desert in droves, neutering the octarian military capability, and octaria has to focus what resources it has on not starving (which it barely achieves, theres a famine regardless) rather than attacking back. it also creates the conditions for bubbles' parents to leave him and for CB to undergo the extremely painful and inhumane procedures to become an enhanced supersoldier but proto doesnt learn this til octo expansion

the squid sister stories proceed basically like canon, but proto dedicates themselves to agent work while marie focuses on the radio and callie focuses on acting. theyre out investigating the metro with craig when callie gets squidnapped so they dont find out until octo expansion finishes (like a few weeks after she gets rescued)

SPEAKING OF OCTO EXPANSION. PROTO IS THERE THE WHOLE TIME

they dont fight CB and Bubbles, theyre a terrible fighter and a bit of a wimp (and those two are kinda terrifying), instead they watch when they get overpowered and captured by a squad of sanitized octolings (those two got sent to investigate since people kept vanishing when they went that way). they still get the same "youre down here because of me" guilt since they chose to watch rather than intervene

they later got into the metro proper and found those same people but like super amnesia'd and a little traumatised already, even if theyre not sure how much of that was already there, and then they get even MORE fucked up because the metro is fucking Like That

also guilt bc they dont actually help with the tests beyond advice thru the comms. can never have too much of that

they get CB and Bubbles out of the blender by removing their special limiter and spamming splashdown on the top til it breaks, getting exhausted and passing out afterwards, letting tartar control them

the hole in the ceiling gets made by CB throwing a bit of broken blender really hard

usually they would get their ass kicked by either CB or Bubbles, let alone both at once, but the two of them are so exhausted and fucked up and a little injured that the fight is closer than anyone would like. the fight ends when CB grabs them by the ankle and slams them into the floor. think that one scene from the avengers with the hulk and loki

unfortunately, since CB is way too scared and full of adrenaline to properly regulate her strength, she completely crushes their ankle and lower leg. since it doesnt splat them, they dont respawn, and everyone is too preoccupied with destroying the NILs statue to get them to a hospital, the leg wasnt salvageable and they had to get it amputated below the knee

theyre an ambulatory wheelchair user, after that. sometimes crutches instead, but they tend to go for the chair in alterna bc crutches and ice do NOT mix trust me on this. i only had crutches for a couple months but i fell on my ass SO much

anyway they reconnect with callie and marie and things are fine and good and theyre totally not avoiding the twins because marina kept updating them on relevant files she found during OE and theyre struggling to reconcile the idea that these are enemies with the undeniable truth that nobody has had a greater negative impact on their lives than them.

probably would be worse if marina told them the twins were 15. good thing she doesnt!

oh yeah i forgot ages. proto is 17 in splat1, 19 in splat2/OE and 24 by splat3

anyway yeah in their efforts to avoid the twins so that they dont have to think about the wide-reaching consequences of their past actions, they dont actually leave them with any way to contact them while they go check out the Crater. itll only be a quick mission, right? no need to worry about it

alterna happens

then they and the squid sisters come back to cuttlefish cabin to find it completely empty, then discover that flora is still in the hospital after having the shit kicked out of him because he was hypnoshaded and they didnt have any low-tide ink because marie wasnt there and they couldnt contact her and they tried and they tried and why didnt anyone answer and

theres a big cool dramatic confrontation where CB and Bubbles reveal they got all their mem cakes and know exactly who proto is and what they did and would have forgiven if they had been honest but now they cant trust their captain and formally quit the NSS

honestly theres more stuff for proto after this but i ahvent actually figured it out yet.

personality-wise, theyre overconfident in their own abilities and underconfident in the abilities of everyone else, they struggle to give control of anything over to someone else. because why would they allow someone else to be in charge when they know that their own plans are automatically so much better?

as they learn about the actual consequences of their splat1 plan via CB and Bubbles' descriptions of their mem cakes, this confidence falters a bit. they spent so long with that plan being one of their greatest achievements that they cant reconcile with the reality that it had devastating consequences for innocent people

this is not at all helped by Flora, who makes no secret of his opinion on proto. at first he's just fucking with them for the sake of fucking with them, the same way he does for marie, but it gets more antagonistic when proto reacts with genuine anger rather than the good humour marie does. flora absolutely does not take kindly to people trying to exert authority over her so she aims to piss off proto at every opportunity

it is very easy for flora to piss proto off

AITA for still holding a grudge against the person who killed my best friend's father?

to summarize: i(17m) have two best friends. we'll call them M(17f) and P(16f). a year or so ago, P's father was killed by C(16nb). C is a fucking asshole- me, M, and P were sneaking out at night to hang out but P's dad was upset with this cause he was worried she was gonna get hurt or be in danger or something. C showed up out of nowhere and just fucked around with us all the time, snitching to P's dad that we were sneaking out with her at night. eventually, C offered to help with P's dad not letting her go out all the time. we were all desperate to see each other- P and M were and are still dating- so we agreed, despite them being an asshole to us before. i wont go into detail, but it was like a monkeys paw situation. they killed him. it let P go out whenever she wanted, but her dad was gone. its not like P's dad sucked, he was just making sure P was safe. P is just fucking ruined after this. M and i are there for her the whole time, and shes just.. fucked up from it for a while. her mom died when she was super young, so now she has no parents at all. after killing P's father C just fucking vanished. we've never seen them since- except for one time a few months later. we were walking in the city, and P literally bumps into C. neither of them were looking where they were going, really. i immediately get defensive over P, but M gets mad at me for it and tells me to calm down- C looks fucking terrible, just staring at us, like a deer in headlights. i stop talking but i can tell P is uncomfortable, but even she tells me that it's okay and I shouldnt be getting so angry. C apologizes and it looks like they're about to cry??? at this point im just getting more and more pissed off. the interaction ends with us just walking away from them, but while we do I yell back at C threatening them if they try to pull any shit with us again. M is fucking pissed at me, explaining that saying shit like that could get them to fuck with us again. nut C looks like a scared little dog. I don't know what happened in those months, but it doesn't look like they could do shit to us if they wanted to. it's been a while since then, but M is still upset with me over it. she keeps saying that they apologized, and its more of P's business than mine, but P isn't good at talking for herself, and i dont think apologizing is good enough to just be cleared of all guilt for killing someones fucking father. P is doing alright now, she's seen a therapist, and is a lot more optimistic than depressed. TL;DR C killed my friend P's father, and M, P's girlfriend, is upset at me for being rude to C when we bump into them a few months later. i can't be the asshole here, right?

eddie is the same old poor metalhead who somehow ended up with a dance scholarship at an art school. he wears tights and does pirouettes and is unapologetic about it. anyone who at least shoots him a look risks being beaten up to half death by his heavy boots over point shoes, and everybody know this.

steve is still a harrington, an heir to his parents' large business. he has everything but the opportunity to do what he loves most - to dance. he sneaks out to do random battles on the streets or dance in underground clubs at night. he's a sweetheart but always cause trouble just to spite his dad.

so, he breaks into an art school at night with some friends and when security arrives at the noise he lets his friends escape while getting charged with community service himself.

when eddie first lies the eye on the criminal polishing the floors of their studio, he feels the anger boiling in his veins. this pretentious piece of rich shit has almost fucked up everything they were working on for the past couple of months. the fact that his partner twisted his ankle and isn't helpful either. he tries to find a temporary replacement but other - younger - students just can't handle his routine. so when the criminal offers to help he just scoffs and tells him to fuck off.

but steve is persistent. there's something about these sharp edges of eddie's personality that intrigues him. he's always bitchy to almost everyone, he keeps his head high as if he's better than anyone else. and something sadistic in steve wants to see if eddie's as bulletproof as he wants to seem.

eddie gives up, and while steve is very athletic and can hold him up in the air just right, at classic moves and modern steps he's as clumsy as a newborn duckling. his transition to hip-hop the moment he stops paying attention to his body is hilarious to eddie. they work and work all the time, and eddie stops seeing just a dumb heir in a rebellious phase, while steve understand that all the walls eddie had built around himself are for protection.

they figure out the new routine that suits them both - a little classic, modern, freestyle and hip-hop. steve brings in other dancers for eddie to create the performance just the way he's always imagined. they start talking more, open up to each other, go to dance parties together. and then eddie's partner makes a return. he's not sure what to do about it - the whole number is already set up with steve - but steve makes the decision for him and breaks it off. he fell in love, and thought that maybe distance could wipe these unwanted feelings away.

but eddie is lost. he tries to teach his old partner the routine, but he simply is not capable, with injury and newness of this all. so eddie goes to steve again, asking for help, and getting a no. he's brokenhearted and tries to come up with the new routine of his own, without a partner and other dancers. he feels as a fail breathes down his neck, the disappointment of the headmistress, the sadness of his uncle, the grief over his broken dreams if he won't get a job offer after the senior showing.

steve is going through the crisis of his own. his dad is angry as never, his mom sits him down for "the talk" for the first time in years. they're trying to convince him to drop dancing, to find something "serious", but admitting they're happy to see him the happiest he's ever been. his parents scared he wouldn't be able to make a name for himself, because they're strangers to the dancing world. mid-conversation steve rushes to the art school, praying to all the gods to be in time.

eddie is backstage, biting his nails to the point of bleeding. he knows his routine is weak, much more basic than the one with steve, and he prepares himself to failure. steve storms in minutes before they need to go on stage.

eddie slaps him in the face right this moment. steve is taken aback, but apologies nonetheless. he's almost on his knees, begging for forgiveness, when eddie decides to change the routine back, what makes everyone happy.

the performance went with flying colours. the headmistress is proud, eddie gets a couple of invitations to the best dancing troops out there, and steve finally, finally kisses him, while eddie deadpan tells him to buy fucking tights, claiming that his thighs would look damn good in them.

Sorry guys rant time

so like i started at a distrubition center right? i transfered within the company i already worked for and everything. but i get there and not only is their overtime Bullshit. mandatory 12 hour days on your day off that are two weeks in a row then one normal 3 day weekend (after 4 10 hour days) and then abck to working on your day off. That's rediculous on it's own.

BUt i wasn't told i was going to be on equipment that was so high up either. and usually im not scared of heights but this one is rough. I'm okay ish with driving around and stuff. but im so anxious that I feel like im seconds away from a panic attack as im driving it around the wearhouse. And Then they're like oh now you gotta go up high and drive it up and down the asile. And somethign about being up that high and not feeling fully in control yet just freaked me out. I rarely have really bad panic attacks anymore but today was a rough one. I cried for like an hour straight and told my leader that i just can't do it.

So he sends me to hr and coem to find out my only three options are one, transfrer to packing where i'd take a big paycut (too little to live off), wait 6 months to transfrer to another department but still ahve to wait for it to be approved/it to be my turn, or just train. and like i was Ready for it to be over. LIke i didn't wanna even touch the thing again. BUt now that it's like well it's this or not pay my bills... like I Have to.

and sure it might be stress from a really rough month and a rough move. but like im so tired and so anxious it's insane. But I'm gonna Have to train on this equipment if I wanna be able to pay my rent and like this was all supposed ot be temporary while i go back to school anyway.

So I think im just gonna like ig suck it up, continue training but take it super slow. Say fuck it to theirn umbers bc im really not comfortable on the equipment. and then just go back to school asap and get out of there. Bc this Sucks. And the thing is I can't even reverse my transfer bc i moved 4 horus away and signed a lease. I probably should have stayed but I didn't really have a choice.

i've noticed that when Im dealing with some kind of mental pain I feel an urge on my body. When I'm struggling to fight off self-harm urges, I feel aches in my wrists despite that not at all being the place I tended to favor back in the day. Aches and urges all the same though, sometimes along with images of what it would do to me. And when I'm struggling with body/gender dysphoria, I feel aches in my boobs. Different from the pre-period soreness, because that soreness hurts, but when I feel sick and terrible like this, it aches.

At my job (that I refuse to disclose as otherwise it is such a fun and wonderful job), I was too nervous and afraid of not getting the job to disclose that I was agender. I also thought my current irl nickname, which is an animal, would be weird to be called in a job working with animals. So for 40+ hours a week, I am a cis woman to everyone, and everyone uses my deadname for what is the first time since middle school.

I really didn't think my birth name was that bad anymore. I didn't think it would affect me like this. Cause I still like the name, even if it isn't mine anymore. I'm even planning on altering it and keeping it as a middle name when i change my name, just to honor my kid self. But being seen as my deadname, as a woman. having people call me "honey" and "babe" and knowing that the terms aren't safe, aren't being said by people who know. it hurts so much. I'm only two weeks in and the idea of going back without anyone knowing kinda feels like being trapped in a cocoon and melted into caterpillar paste. I don't know what to do about it, what I could do about it. It feels like it's already too late, and I'm only gonna be working for another 320 hours and then my internship is over. It'll just be for a summer. But it's causing dysphoria flareups like I haven't seen in ages.

I thought I wasn't gonna get top surgery. Not because I like my boobs at all, but because I thought they sometimes looked nice in certain outfits, they sometimes matter a lot in fashion, and other people like them. Now that I have a girlfriend I'm scared of becoming less attractive to her as well. but I hate the fact that dressing femme sometimes makes me look too sexy. I feel too attractive for all the wrong reasons. I fucking hate that they're the main reason all of my actually androgynous outfits (not just super masc outfits that people seem to think equals andro) instantly turn femme. My body type femmes it the fuck up and I hate it. Plus, I don't really want boobs. If I train hard enough, I'll get big fuckin pecs to fill out my dresses intead, and they'll be a lot more euphoric than boobs for me. But still, the ache'll probably still be there after. Maybe just a lot less so.
