Surprisingly see more animals with the sidewalk in my backyard than before they cleared out the trees

Like i know those animals were there before and were just hidden by the trees but I thought the sidewalk would scare them off

Apparently not

#saw a bobcat in person for the first time ever #thought it was my neighbors cat at first and realized it looked WAY too big for how far away it was #and then it turned and i saw its tail #another reason my neighbors should not be letting their cats out #weve had a mountain lion pass through once before too #and my dad saw a wolf one year but thats VERY VERY rare like once in a lifetime sort of thing cuz wolves do NOT live here #but we also have coyotes and foxes #also this is slightly unrelated but my moms pretty sure she saw a cow on the other side of the highway a couple weeks ago #theres no farms nearby #theres one /kinda/ close on that side of the highway but it wouldve had to cross a few busy roads to get to the highway #she thought it could maybe be a deer cuz she didnt get a very good look at it before it went up the hill into the neighborhood on that side #and it was pretty early in the morning #but it was huge and all black #so it was either a cow or a horse maybe #the city still denies we have mountain lions #one of the dentists in town had a decorative rock formation in his backyard and his wife posted a picture to face book of a #mountain lion laying on it with 3 cubs running around playing and was like ''guess we dont have mountain lions.''#there were pictures of one walking around the ku campus #but nah we dont have mountain lions

“Guess I can’t be the hero every-time!”

Initially a study of the storybook style for a comic project I had in mind, but I wondered if I could push it a bit more to be lighting dynamic friendly so I did some additional painting over it. Honestly pretty freeing to rugged uneven strokes which now that I think about it matches sonic pretty well.

a constant joke between me an my mom is to point at leon and exclaim "watch out he got his ears back! he's dangerous!"

based on that time we just walked by this older lady and leon, as always, stared at her and cried. she went "oh god that's a dangerous one" in full earnesty. so i gave my usual "he just really loves people wants to say hello" explanation just for her to reply with "BUT HE GOT HIS EARS BACK!"

I think its really cute that Manuel gets the most love from comments! I think he deserves it, because even I have dubbed him as the Best Boy. But, Mani has mixed feelings about receiving praise and being considered the favorite. He’d sooner think people are lying to him than believe they actually like him that much. Because, why would they?

jegulus microfic | just a few words | i only read this over like. twice. so um. hope you like it.

“Noooo, no no no Reg this is not happening,” James said, clinging to the railing of the pedestrian bridge.

“This will be fun,” Regulus had said, “amazing views,” he’d advertised. And now here James was, a million or whatever feet in the air over rushing rapids, his head spinning and his palms sweaty.

“James you can’t wimp out now. We’re already halfway across.” Regulus gestured toward the other end of the bridge where the rest of their tour group was waiting for them.

“Regulus, baby, I love you so much but there is no way I will make it over there. Just leave me here to die.” Maybe he was being dramatic, but it truly felt like the bridge would collapse with even the slightest movement.

“I’m not leaving you to die on our honeymoon. I think that would probably ruin the mood,” Regulus said with an eye roll. “Okay how about this. Just close your eyes. I’ll hold your hand and guide you the rest of the way.”

James started to shake his head. “I don’t know—“

“I’ve got you, James. It’ll be okay. Just me and you.”

And in that moment, looking into the eyes of the man he loved so deeply, so complexly, and so completely, James knew it was true. He would always have Regulus to guide him. His own personal north star.

“Okay,” James said, “Just me and you.”

As he took Regulus’ hand, even though they were 50 stories up, James had never felt more grounded.

I love the shape language for Machete and Vasco, how angular and pointy the former is VS how round and soft the other... It's so GOOD I adore that

Thank you! I like the contrast as well, it makes them very fun to draw together. I try to keep them visually distinct while still making sure that they look harmonious and complementary next to each other.

#some more design musings that I've noticed that don't really matter but I tend to think about when drawing them:#Machete's shapes have an upward direction the ears the neck fluff and even the tip of his snout has that upturned angle #while Vasco's vibe is more loose and relaxed his huge floppy ears almost make him look like he's melting #neither of them have strong markings but the positioning of the gradients they have is very similar it's just different colors #Vasco has dark almond eyes (with what I can only describe as disney eyelashes)#his irises appear nearly black but if you shone a strong light directly on them they'd reveal a honey/amber hue #Machete's eyes are big and prominent with disproportionally small pupils #lately I've been drawing him with just the faintest salmon colored irises #but if the color scheme of the piece calls for it they can be depicted more vividly red #Machete has longer untameable fur here and there while Vasco is uniformly smooth and velvety #Machete is supposed to be the serious and inhibited half of the two but his face has a lot more expressive potential than Vasco's #it's actually kind of a struggle that I can't make Vasco emote with his ears at all those are typically a huge advantage in furry art #Vasco's body language is open and casual he takes up space confidently #Machete is usually very closed and defensive he has a habit of crossing his arms and legs and keeping his hands together and close to body #in general Vasco shouldn't be wearing anything black or red and Machete can't be seen wearing blue or gold #white is neutral territory it's usually the color of sleepwear and undershirts and as a result has a more intimate tone to it #answered #ardate
