one of the reasons why i resonated so much with pran is because of his inner struggle between filial piety and choosing himself. his relationship with his parents, especially his mom—is one any person with loving but expectant/pressuring without pressuring parents could relate to. which is why when patpran choose each other while keeping their relationships (although it may not be the same as before) with their parents hits hard. it’s realistic. especially in asian households.

then there’s also something about the message of “u’re the ones missing out on ur kids milestones and being a part of their good memories” that is just so…comforting for ppl who are coming of age and deciding what’s right for them while still somewhat trying to respect their parents wishes. like pran embodied the whole realizing you’re actually uncomfortable while your trying to make everyone around you comfortable. and he chose pat—his comfort—ultimately choosing himself for once.
