July 29: National Lipstick Day

Luigi hadn’t dabbled much in makeup, but Wendy was adamant that he finds his ‘colors’.

Starting from his foray into dresses, his only experience with lipstick is the clear gloss he puts on with his more put-together outfits.

Upon learning this, however, Wendy put her foot down:

“You mean to tell me you don’t have any lipstick?!”

“Um-“ Luigi remembers tugging at his gloves nervously, unsure where exactly it became an interrogation. “I, never really brought any? And… it didn’t seem like a big deal…”

Junior, who was doodling nearby, joined Wendy on staring at him in shock. “But Mama! You would look even prettier!”

“Um…”

“Junior’s right!” His daughter is quick to grab his hand, tugging him to and out the door and -presumably- to her room. “A dress without makeup is like a suit with no tie! It’s required by fashion law!”

From there, it was a series of events that had led to Luigi putting on his favorite dress, getting the rest of the kids as a makeshift judge panel, and ‘posing’ for each color and shade imaginable.

His personal favorites where ‘Nude Beach’ and ‘Pretty in Pink’, colors that went well with his skin tone and apparently gave him a ‘naturalistic look’.

But, overall, Luigi didn’t think there would be any shades he would really like-

And then he tried ‘Written in Blood’ (what are these names).

It was a dark red, a few shades lighter than dried blood (which he knew because of kitchen related accidents), and had let his blue eyes ‘pop’.

Mostly, he liked how it made him look almost elegant- maybe even a bit alluring, for a lack of a better word.

Of course, the kids just thought of it as ‘pretty’, but he’ll take their unanimous agreement on the color being ‘his’.

And Luigi ended up with a new, if not small, collection of lipstick.

From then, he dipped into wearing lipstick every now and then, usually sticking to the natural colors for everyday use and wearing the dark red for special occasions.

(It also led to growing his collection through recommendations from Peach, Daisy, and Wendy, but it’s a story for another time.)

The first time he wore it in front of Bowser was during their fifth anniversary, eliciting a sputtering, wide-eyed reaction that had Luigi feeling particularly fluttery.

And when Bowser nervously asked if he could wear it more often?

Well, Luigi may have acquiesced for more than one reason, but the smoldering brimstone look from his husband was his biggest.

I work at a mainstream US cosmetics retail store that doesn't start with an "S". I was working cash a few registers down and had a steady line so I couldn't be a nosy as I wanted to but from what I gathered from trying to listen out my one ear in the first register's direction/what my co-workers told me way later is that:

a woman in with really, really, REALLY bad "sick eyes" aka eyes that are horribly bloodshot, swollen, her entire eyelid top/bottom was swollen as hell, etc.... basically she looked like sick shit. came stormin' in agressive as hell yelling at everyone "are YOU the manager" over and over until someone told her to wait at the counter and one would get to her. 

long story short: she literally came into our store and did an entire face of makeup from foundation, eyeshadow, lips, liner, mascara, etc etc etc on her OWN using our TESTER PRODUCTS and our TESTER BRUSHES for her daughters wedding and is losing her e n t i r e shit she caught SOMETHING who the fuck knows what and literally wanted everyone's name in the entire store. coorporate's number called IN STORE with her/SM, wanted every manager's name up to d o G himself. Literally claimed our store was dirty as hell and wanted the name of the person who "CLEANED" the brushes that caused her to (tbh it looked worse) get pink eye. Deadass she wanted her medical bills paid by us.

It took our manager(S) maybe 20-30 minutes to figure out that she did the tester-full face of makeup  by herself and DIDN'T get her makeup professionally done by us (which costs $$).... thank d o G because they thought one of our artists originally fucked up and gave her something.

FYI about testers in makeup stores:

1. EVERYBODY uses makeup testers. Almost no one washes their hands before poking their fingers into anything. They fall on the ground. People probably fucking sneeze on them. Their around gargabe in the backrooms, sometimes they fall IN garbages. They're literally meant to be swatched on your hand at most... oh, and most of them are super fucking OLD (you don't make new testers of something unless it breaks or dries out COMPLETELY).

2. If you DO feel the need to try on a tester there are 1-use applicators of ALL kinds  ///AND// sanatizers at 5+ stations throughout the store to sanatize lipsticks, eyeshadows, products that are open like that so that you get a CLEAN sample. NEVER use an actual makeup brush to try tester products because brushes are the #1 thing people mindlessly rub their grimy hands over are the bristles.... duhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! We've recently started making the "sample"  brand brushes stuck to the display so people can't pick them up and use them for that very reason.

3. Our store literally does makeup applications AND makeup lessons (for a charge) by PROFESSIONALS who clean their kits and their products throughly because that is THEIR JOB. Other than that we have MULTIPLE people on the sales floor with CLEAN brush belts who will help you either find your color OR help you test it on yourself.

Our store is pretty lax in the way that we do let people play with testers for hours (and film to a certain extent) but did you ever stop and think that there's actually a GOOD fucking reason why makeupstores are such hardasses about people coming in and using testers for full-faces... because of shit like THIS. Nobody, NOBODY. is fucking crying over the 50$ lost sale over a product or two because our store chain is massive and honestly, products are testered out constantly everyday over and over. It's because of dumb bitches like this that think their entitled to massive compensation for KNOWINGLY using public items on their eyes/mouths/etc. 

My shift was over before I could find out what happened but when I left the lady + multiple managers were in the back office with the door shut talking to coorporate. It pains me just thinking about HOW much this lady is going to get for probably not sueing us.

((ALSO please PLEASE stop fucking asking me if you can buy the tester because we ran out of the item besides for that one. The answer is NO no matter how many times you ask, how MANY people you ask, or how GRUMPY you fucking get. You're not PAYING for a PUBLICLY-USED eye/lip/etc item. How fucking gross are you??? Wait 1 week for the next shipment or buy it online and rush it to your god damn house!!!!!!))

Instant Cat Eye?! Skin Potions Meow Stamp Eyeliner Review. (Video Demo)

I feel naked without my eyeliner. I am literally obsessed with it that I actually believe I was born with an eyeliner in my hand. >_< Alright, so ever since I got into makeup when I was like 15 or 16, I never stopped wearing black eyeliner. I fell in love of how it beautifies my eyes! Since then, I have tried all the types of eyeliner I could ever find! Today, here I am with an eyeliner stamp. lol

I’ve heard about the Vamp Stamp last year but it never really got me interested. After all, it’s just an applicator that costs so much and it’s pretty difficult to purchase one if you live here in the Philippines. But then one day, I was walking around SM Megamall and found this cute stall - Skin Potions! I love the name!! You guys know how I love pretty packaging so the kiosk immediately caught my attention because of its colorful set of products. I saw a lot of interesting stuff but since it’s a brand I’m not yet familiar with, I only settled for one item - the MEOW Stamp Eyeliner.

So I picked it up because it’s a very cool product. Something I have never tried before despite having a ton of eyeliner products in my collection. So basically, this eyeliner has two ends - the usual felt tip eyeliner and the “1-second” Wing Stamp. I guess, it’s for those having a hard time creating a wing and for eyeliner newbies as well. ^^ 

PRICE: 350php 

Well hun that is AFFORDABLE! With such creative concept, I think the price is pretty good. I have to mention the price this early because it will explain what I have to say about the packaging. Honestly, the label sticker is pretty cute and artsy but the packaging itself feels cheap. It’s a lightweight plastic which basically looks like the whiteboard markers you see in the stationery store. Not that I am complaining, like what I said, the price is insanely affordable so I’m not expecting a metal packaging encrusted with diamonds. It’s okay for me. The lid closes really well and that is what’s very important for an eyeliner!

THE STAMP:

The stamp looks like a pizza slice. kkkkk~ There’s no need to submerge the stamp into some eyeliner ink or gel because it already has the ink in it. You only need to just stamp it on and you already have your instant eyeliner wing!

The only thing I’ve noticed with the stamp is that it requires more pressure just for it to look bold enough. With a light hand, it’s kinda hollow. Well, I believe it only serves as a guide so it’s the felt tip eyeliner’s job to intensify the wing.

THE FELT TIP EYELINER:

Many people would think that the stamp is the star of the show. For me, it’s the felt tip eyeliner that goes with it. I’m going to throw this in here right now - ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE EVER TRIED. It goes in full pigment and it lasts long on my terribly oily lids (you’ll see this in the video below). Geez I seriously wasn’t expecting anything considering that it has a very affordable price tag. I personally don’t like felt tip eyeliners that much too because it’s much easier to create precise lines with a fine brush tip. However, the Meow Eyeliner Stamp does a great job at that because it delivers bold pigment even if I’m working with a light hand. But if you like thicker and bolder eye line for a more dramatic look, this is 100% for you.

It’s waterproof and it does not get messy when it gets contact with water. However, once you rub it off (while wet) it’ll come off.

MY THOUGHTS:

Will I buy this one again? YES. Even without the stamp, I think this one is a very good eyeliner. It lasts for a very long time and it does not give me Panda eyes. In the video, I was only able to do a 5-hour test but as of writing this blog post, I have worn this for 12 hours once and it still looks nice. I saw very few fallouts but I prefer this than the ink melting and messing with my entire eyes! If you’ll take a good look on my face and eye makeup on the last clip, you’ll notice how oily my skin is and how messed up my mascara and eyeshadow have become! There are very few eyeliners that work with my excessively oily skin. This one made it to my favorites.

I believe I got used to drawing my eyes with traditional eyeliners (pen or using a brush) that I find it a bit difficult to work with the stamp. As you can see in the video, making the wing even is a struggle! But I guess it really takes practice for you to perfect it. Nevertheless, the stamp concept is fun and creative. Really worth a try!

That will tell InDesign to treat the dieline as a unique color, instead of a blend of the standard printing inks. Here's a short explanation to back again up what I'm saying. Coloring sublimation banner or screen printing is definitely nearly exclusively completed on polyester fabrics, whether it's an oxford, a knit, a poplin, a sheer, or a satin, to name a few designs of fabric. Because of the chemistry involved with these dyes, with heat and pressure changing the coloring to a gas, it in fact becomes part of the substrate which it can be fused to. The heat not only transforms the color to a gas, it also grows the pores of polyester or polymers (such as the polymeric coatings on various substrates or components torby foliowe z nadrukiem) and enables the gas to be attracted into the pores. Once the substrate cools again, the pores close and enable the color to become solid, completely inlayed in the fabric or polymeric material. This color also is normally fade resistant and most likely to last for many, many years.

For these results/recaps, I’m going to start off with each day’s results and then go into my weekly successes and an analysis on how I think I’m doing.

Day 1: Five “small” rewards

Pink Bubbly Vaseline: this stuff is basically just vaseline with some wine extract and additional flavor mixed in. I’ll probably do a review of this!

Clinique Dramatically Different Moistruizing Lotion + (for dry/combo skin), foil packet. I have not used this yet… It’s not that I don’t want to, but I just didn’t have the energy all week to actually use it.

elf Lip Stain in Berry Blush. I have a different one of these, and I like it enough- this will be another review product, I think.

Etude House Moisturizing Honey Jelly Lips Patch. Can I just say how terrible I am at actually rewarding myself with single-use items. I put this in here because I keep avoiding using it because “special occasion” or whatever… and now? I *earned* this, darn it, but I find I’m still saving it for a special occasion.

Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Moist, Foil Packet. This is actually one of two of these, so I’m waiting to get the second one in order to actually try this out. First will be swatches, then I’ll do a full wear test with the best-matching color (I believe the colors are vanilla, petal, and beige).

Day 2: Three “small” rewards

Clinique For Men Moisturizing Lotion, Foil Packet. I have a few lotion/emulsions in here, but honestly I feel like I’ve been getting a disproportionate amount as rewards. On my list of things to try, but I’m also working through some larger moisturizers that are *almost* out.

Banila Co. it Radiant Lace Hydrogel Eye Patch. It was fun to use but I don’t think I saw any difference in my eyes; probably will not review.

Clinique Moisture Surge, travel size. Another moisturizer? I got this a while back when I wanted to add some hyaluronic acid to my routine- at the same time, I also got a “pure” hyaluronic acid product (I mean, it was diluted, but it wasn’t meant to have many other ingredients) to mix with foundation. I ended up using that one for pure skincare purposes, so this has been sitting… Well, I ran out of my old HA, so this is a nice addition!

Day 3: Three “small” and two “medium” rewards

Julep One-Step Polish Remover Pads (two foil packets- what are the odds I got both?!). Truth time: I haven’t had time to paint my nails, so I haven’t had a need for these 😛

DevaCurl One Condition Ultra Creamy Conditioner, FP. It’s technically a foil packet (and maybe for those with very curly, very course hair this would be one use), but I think I can stretch it, so it doens’t seem to be a good gym bag add. I’m waiting until one of my current conditioners is out to use this at home (I usually keep 2-3 at a time and alternate what I want to use based on the day)

Etude House Blend For4 Eyes Eyeshadow Tone&Pink. This was one of the medium items, and I was very, very excited to open it up and try it out!! I was overall a bit disappointed with the product itself (just not great quality shadows), but I LOVED trying it out and I’m excited to make time to do a full on review.

Dinoplatz Magic Wand for Lip & Eye. These came in a beauty box a few months ago, and I’ve always had that “there’s only 20, and it’s expensive, so if I like them…” idea. I’m still struggling with the idea that I “earned” this one and I can use them.

Day 4: Four “small” rewards

Clarins Double Serum (FP). Soooo… I made a mistake with this one. I read ingredients for shea butter (as my skin hates it), but I definitely forgot to read for kiwi (a true allergy of mine). Whoops.

Berrisom Timetox Revitalizing Cream (FP). I double checked the ingredients before thinking about putting this one on (it was a free sample, not one I actually bought). It’s good. I still haven’t used it because (see other days about how many friggin’ moisturizers I’m getting in comparison to how many total there are).

Origins Night-A-Mins Cream (FP). So, I did definitely check ingredients in this one, but to be sure, I checked again. Sephora had this lovely disclaimer: “Please be aware that ingredient lists may change or vary from time to time. Please refer to the ingredient list on the product package you receive for the most up to date list of ingredients.” Anddddd now I’m scared.

Burt’s Bees Lip Gloss in Nearly Dusk. It’s 100% my color, and it’s one of the very few Burt’s Bees lip products I can use!!

Day 5: Five “small” rewards

Revlon Balm Kiss in 035 Berry Burst. Smells like my Bonne Bell childhood (read: amazing). Color is sheer, but it’s not sticky and easy to apply.

Visanti BrightenUp! Face Rejuvenator. I haven’t had a day to try this out yet as I don’t exfoliate super often. I did try to smell it though and it didn’t really smell like much, tbh.

It Cosmetics No. 50 Primer. I haven’t used it yet as I am THIS close to finishing another primer, but it’s in my queue!

Berrisom Timetox Cream (again). DO YOU GET WHAT I MEAN ABOUT THE CREAMS. Don’t worry though; this is actually good for this program, as this is getting into the whole “randomized rewards lead to constant anticipation that the next time it might be what I actually want” thing.

Maybelline New York Mono Shadow in 80 Forest Green. I don’t expect much from drugstore shadows, but this one swatched decently, and I think I like the color (but I haven’t had a day since to actually try it out).

Day 6: Three “small” and one “large” reward

Etude House Double Lasting Foundation Foil Packets, Vanilla/Petal/Beigetwo for one!). Pretty sure I have a fair/vanilla/petal in my rewards packet and then a petal/beige/sand or something like that too. I might wait until I have them all to do a big swatch comparison (which is fun). I honestly can’t remember ugh.

CosRX AHA Whitehouse Power Liquid, FP. I’m always hesitant to put new exfoliants into my routine in case I break out. I might try this during my long stretch of time off work.

TWP “Carnival of Souls” sample. OH MY GOODNESS YES. I am super excited for this, as my dad is a huge Carnival of Souls fan (yes, the movie). Also it smells amazing and I can’t wait to do a review!!

TonyMoly Pikachu Honey Moisture Cream. My first “large” reward, and I am THRILLED. I didn’t wanna open it because I didn’t want to ruin the fun by using it… but I did so much research on this line to get an item I could use, so I got myself to open it up and just. Yes.

Day 7: Three “small” rewards

Trish McEvoy Beauty Booster. No comments since I literally JUST got it!

CoverGirl Lipstick in “Delicious.” It looks so pretty!! I can’t wait to use it (tomorrow?!)

EH Precious Mineral etc etc. Didn’t wanna write the whole name out, but it’s the pair to the one I got earlier! Great way to end the week so I can try them out!!

Weekly Recap/How I’m Doing:

I would call this week a success. My biggest “thing” is that on days that I work a full shift, I don’t go to the gym- little can be done to get me to the gym after working for 13 hours. I’m okay with this. Not getting a reward is not a punishment; I’m simply not rewarded, and I’m okay with this. I shouldn’t be rewarded for not going to the gym at this point, at that would reinforce not going in. However, I do reward myself for my “workout” as part of my program is to do my job- and I have that factored in. So, on days I work, work becomes my “workout.”

I’ve done really well staying on track with energy balance. I overate one day, and I don’t feel upset about it. The rewards are motivating enough for day-to-day behavior mod, but I do still want to maintain flexibility on special things.

I have lost ~3 pounds this past week. This seems a bit high, but I think a lot of that is in the GI tract (gross, I know, but honest). I will see how next week goes and modify my plans to reflect a less aggressive, healthier plan if I need.

I have realized that the biggest weakness in this is that I KNOW what the probabilities are for each reward. It’s not a “blind” study in that way, and I think it’s effecting the motivation of the system. However, it still seems to work out decently. Honestly, based on this week alone, I think this would be a good program for other behavior mods (such as cleaning and studying related behaviors).

I’m optimistic about Week 2, but I’m also a little scared as my “nothing” rewards start coming up… I’m not sure if I will continue to find things motivating, but we will see!!
