went to the state fair yesterday and tried so so much good food !!! my favorite things were the pickle lemonade (literally my favorite drink ever since i first tried it a couple weeks ago) and the fried pickles and the roasted corn. feeling like a true midwesterner after that :-)

#although i will say the pickle lemonade i tried by the lake by our house was a lot better #it was punchier #the ones at the fair were watered down a bit i think just from the ice melting in the heat #but it’s just SO refreshing #genuinely something my dr would prescribe for one of my health conditions is a shot of pickle juice #so it was so rejuvenating LOL #it was rly fun !! my home state doesn’t have a state fair like THAT #but it took me back to my 4H days :#when i competed agility w my childhood dog as a kid and camped out to do some horse riding events and archery #and pigs and chickens and such #rly nostalgic haha #i only did pigs one year bc it was too sad #but i was a chicken girl through and through #4H is what started me down the dog trainer career path and sparked that interest as a hobby #i didn’t pursue it seriously until a long time later and have since taken a hiatus bc of burnout but #it did remind me why i fell so head over heels in love w it #something abt being so in tune w another creature like that is just #so special #we didn’t get to watch the stunt dogs tho we missed the show :((#i kinda want to go back again to see them perform #kinda feeling like it might reignite something in me and maybe i’ll start making steps to be a trainer again #i’ve been missing it #personal

the diehard clara hater/lover quiz is fun because some of the lover descriptions feel like they're describing the most toxic evil person on planet earth and it's like guys i think we have all forgotten the fact that canonically she is twelve's one tie to earth and has to remind him of how to care about people. and like she dies in a doctor-esque sacrifice to save someone. she just reflects the worst qualities of the doctor she is not an evil possessive selfish girlboss woman. i do wish she was more awful though i think it would be funny to have a sole companion like that making the doctor worse

went to the beach w kp & 4 other indian friends & 3 of us had NEVER surfed before girl WHEW it’s SO fun literally only 20quid to rent a wetsuit & board & i fucking smashed my toes on the sand so much, but also we 1) got the wrong tickets so we got off 1 stop early 2) went to find a bus & the bus that was supposed to be 15 min turned into an HOUR 3) on our way to find a bus back everyone’s phones are dying or dead bc it took us 3hrs longer to get there, cigarettes are out 4) all of the shops in town are closed & the town seems to have ONLY a tesco extra & 1 off license that sells a PACK FOR 15.65 A PACK WHICH IS FUCKING CRIMINAL ITS CHEAPER TO BUY IT FROM TESCO ARE U INSANE 5) the bus back to the other town kept skipping us bc the bus stop wasn’t the ACTUAL bus stop - i had 1 bowl since literally 11a & we got back at fucking 11p 😭😭😭

as someone who enjoys almost all of the characters in asoiaf the "anti-this character" stuff just really baffles me to the nth degree. like you don't have to love them or like them that much or find them interesting, i think we all have certain characters we enjoy more than others (like give me more of that dolorous edd meta guys cmon) but just why when i go to the for you, half of what shows up is "anti-this character" and "anti-this other character" (also usually both women)??? like guys save your energy for the characters you love. life is truly too short for this.

wow, mockingjay was. much more violent and gory than i remembered

#in my defense the last time i've read this book i was. 20 maybe? so almost 10 years ago #i watched pt 2 a few years after it came out #tho it's still not as... vivid and terrifying as the book is #one thing collins always stands out for among ya writers is her descriptions of ptsd symptoms and grief #and war and its awful consequences are well-written. maybe bcs we see it all through katniss' pov but imo they really get you #inside this world of horror and devastation this poor girl is living in (god. no wonder she's so broken!)#i think this is something that was lacking in tbosas (for plot reasons)#and it was sorely missed because it's one of the highlights of the series and as i stated above #one of collins' strengths as a writer imo #she doesn't perform as well when she's delving into complex philosophy about good and evil (she doesn't get above what's basic)#and villain origin stories despite all tbosas' potential. they're a different beast to tackle #just imo obv. tho as you can see from my pfp i still ate the shit out of that movie lmao #val rereads thg #val speaks #txt
