Five Times Morro Trusted Wu: AND THE ONE TIME HE DIDN'T. Or, the fic that sits at the very core of my tempered adoration for the ghost kid.

Habits of Home(lessness): Putting this here cuz I'm once again mad I dropped the ball on Jay's day lmao!! In which Jay's "normal" childhood growing up is very abnormal in the face of the rest of his team (and he is THROWN when it comes to trying to figure out why)

Ninjago: The Nya Perspective: THE NYA FIC I'VE SEARCHED MY WHOLE LIFE FOR (aka maybe twoish weeks? Three? This has been a long drag of a month, man) ANYWAY it's the series retold from Nya's point of view and it is MMMMMM peak Nya. Peak Nya. Very highly reccomended.

selkie: short, sweet, and a little bit haunting, a reflective Nya Post-Seabound (......with a solution to the 'being the sea' problem I also thought really should've happened, or at least considered, but give the flow of this fic...perhaps, maybe not)

Please Just Don't Break an Ankle: Nya, Skylor, and Pixal getting the chance to girl-out and just be friends if not sisters!!!!! But, there is a lot of fun dynamics with everyone, though big sister Skylor has me by the throat!!! And Nya getting the chance to be just a little bit vulnerable :3

this grueling cycle: mmmmmmBACK at it again with the pre-pilots fics!! Nya and Kai in the ~before~ times, following the siblings' clashing opinions on the disappearance of their parents. Very descriptive and ripe with characterization!

Blue-Black: Nya and, ironically, the impressions that the color green has on her overtime. She also has synesthesia <3

déjà-vu: Y'all know I'm always a sucker for stories where Nya and Lloyd has out their feelings with each other, and this is definitely towards the top of the list! The angst burns so good <3

Skating on Thin Ice (Can Get You Into Hotwater): A multichapter braincellshipping fic in a hockey/ice skating au that I haven't actually finished, but a) I loved what I read of it so far, b) the character dynamics are sooooo much fun, even beyond the ship, c) the concept is AMAZING, and d) it's by an author who's made this list already, THEREFORE I trust this story with my life. It needs a little extra love <3

Nya and the Song of Sirens: Poetic Nya stream of consciousness thingy during some Crystalized events, I don't talk about this one a lot because writing it stressed me out and I didn't think it was anywhere close to my best snksnksnk, but upon rereading again for myself, I'm like "whoa, maybe I really had something here". I should be nicer to myself, and it is very potently Nya, thus *plunks down rec*

the boy is mine (remix) - ariana grande made musical history getting brandy and monica back in the studio together to release a remixed version of a song that has the same name as their timeless hit. i'll have to listen to it again but i did thoroughly enjoy it, SO much better than 'yes, and?' ft mariah which was just...oof. but yes. amazing. fantastic. ugh the brige??? so good like i got chills

phat butt - copied nicki's flow and cadence and still somehow sucked. how are you gonna rap about people "biting your flow" as you bite another bitch's flow??? it's not her worst song and it's significantly better than that shit show 'gimme a light' but it's still not on the level that ice spice fans will try to have you think it is. a skip for me

the girl, so confusing w lorde - lemme just say that brat is such a good album and both von dutch remix and this version of 'girl, so confusing' are SO good. charli def has a vision when she's getting these features. i'm not super familiar with lorde beyond royals but i really loved her part and i think it was just so good overall. i also just really like 'girl, so confusing' anyway, it's so catchy. will be going on my summer playlist

chanel no.5 - i have never prayed on someone's downfall harder than i have prayed on camila cabello's. i've said it before but her rebrand is just so incredibly inauthentic. her music sucks, she can't write for shit, and she needs to sue someone over her dye job. like i just HATE. HER. but about the song, BAD. lyrics suck just like 'i luv it' because camila cabello is not a hyperpop artists and doesn't know how to do it authentically which is why she's singing random phrases into the mic over a beat and calling it a day

never be yours - not my fave kali uchis song but i did still like it. i'm such a fan of her slower music so i did very much enjoy the beat and overall vibe but something about it didn't entirely do it for mee. will continue to play 'tu corazon es mio' on a loop until KU5

us. - not a gracie nor a taylor fan but it was cute. was super surprised to see that taylor was a featuring artist???? and not only that but the ONLY feature on the whole album??? was so confused until i remembered that gracie abrams is indeed a nepo baby and can probably get whatever she wants. like i said tho, cute song. haven't listened to the whole album yet tho

dopamine - oh. my. god. a religious experience. no joke. i'm so mad i didn't listen on release night because i KNOW i would've been gagging with everybody on the tl. better late than never tho. a true no skip album. i can't believe i'm saying it but i think dopamine might've been worth the five year wait. i had to force myself to turn it off so i could listen to kehlani's 'crash'. it had me entranced y'all like i can't even function.

not only did the album prove once again that normani's a fantastic singer and overall artist, but that she's a FUHREAKKKKKKK. opening with 'big boy' and closing with 'wild side' is CRAZY. like she really might've just dropped thee music to fuck to bible??? i have to listen to it in full at least one or two more times to compile a list of my fave songs bc rn it's all up in the air but just know all of them were so. good.

I do not speak the language, but I feel like you don't have to. It's a very pretty almost bittersweet sounding song. Like reminiscing on a once happy memory that was somehow made sad but still brings you peace.

I guess it's appropriate that a song called "Technicolor Beat" would have a really nice beat and vibe to it.

6. Heart Worth Breaking by The Midnight

Did I maybe use a line from this song for one of my Wolship things? Perhaps... I've been obsessed with The Midnight since the first time I heard them. Very much "driving through the city in the 80s, the rain hitting your windows and the neon lights illuminating the night" vibes. Also highly recommend both Shadows and Vampires (for the sexy sax solos).

This one is a super new release! I'm always down for some Cosmo Sheldrake. The whole album project that this song comes from is pretty good from what I've listened to so far. Also Cosmo Sheldrake is now intrinsically linked to Erenville in my brain because nature and wildlife and the fact that I had his music on repeat for hours when I was drawing him one day so there's that. :)

another of my much weaker 32s. please disregard the greats i shifted to resting my ipad on a blanket bc sitting cross legged was hurting my legs rly bad and i think its fucking up my mental offset. anyway the chart is a blast altho it can be a liiiiiittle irritating at certain parts. still the flicks are so fun esp the ones in the middle with the squiggle holds, and while the runs can be a bit annoying they’re also very rewarding to get right. 7/10 fun but a touch enraging

4. this song is really good, spanish song of the week i loop. thank fuck it wasnt a reggaeton song. but this song is by a puertorrican (though the song was originally by a brazilian artist, willie reinterpreted the song after a trip to brazil he had) thats generally about believing in things and finding in a sense a love for the unknown, its a really good song that uses a lot of metaphors

the song underneath has very sad undertones, i feel i can rlly relate to it rn but ill talk abt it more on my ship. its really befitting of these two (esp emi aka the f/o) given the fact that the song not only has the kind of energy where if you dont listen deep enough you can miss its meaning and just enjoy its energy which is very on brand for him but also its so heavily focused on escapism and insecurity in a way where it KILLS ME. the part of ‘three two one i miss you, im sorry i got issues’ makes me sick cause he would truly apologize over the mere fact of having emotions because he tucks them so far away he doesnt believe theyre even real or his (in a way, hes the one who ‘runs away to mars’)…his escapism in a sense is nayla, in the idea that he becomes focused on her faded colors or more so her issues and so he loses what is home and ‘how long till im discovered’ by not just anyone else but himself, he doesnt find on his own that hes having a hard time with himself.

overall performance

the set list for this was quite interesting to say the least. they covered most of the basic songs but i was surprised at the order they chose to sing them

i was quite impressed by their ability to cover jun's roles in both the songs and the choreo. it felt seamless (both fortunate and unfortunately) and they were still so cohesive nonetheless. spell without jun felt a little awkward though (but that's just me being used to a 4-person team 🥲)

i always love their outfits and this one was no different. the casual vibe of denim and white tees were nice against the intense choreo. it also made them feel more relatable in a sense because it just feels like watching a group of guys have fun rather than something super calculated

i luv my team i luv my crew

people with the most aura gains in this performance: hoshi, scoups, minghao, jeonghan. they had my attention every time they were on screen. possibly mingyu too but that man is just irresistible to the eyes so he takes the spotlight without even trying

hoshi? is? literally? crazy? being svt's hype man, being the concert hype man, performing fighting, spell AND cheers with full choreo + his rap, giving 110% to every other performance. energy is flowing out of him & i want a quarter of however much he has leftover because it will still be more than what i have experienced in my life

my boo and boy dk fighting for their life because they had to keep singing with little to no breaks in between + hitting all the high notes at that... they are truly one of the most extraordinary vocalists ever

HUGE shoutout to joshua & vernon for being svt's personal translators. it was so nice of them to take charge but also convey their members' words to the crowd. it cannot be easy trying to translate what 5 other people are saying all at the same time

everyone did a spectacular job and i am so so proud of them 🫶🏻

misc. thoughts

hearing "caratdeul" from our beloved general leader fixed something in me fr. no one has ever called me in such an endearing way (except joshua maybe because his 'caratdeul' is so swoon-worthy)

to be honesttttt there was a weird vibe between svt and carats..... i heard about some drama happening in berlin about stalkers and rude fans so maybe i'm just projecting but they didn't seem to get as many personal crowd interactions like they usually do + all the fans swarming towards mingyu when he went to the barricade seemed slightly uncomfortable. svt was just a little off with their personal fan interactions imo (which good for them if it means protecting themselves)

all in all, another performance slayed 10/10 svt world domination

Ranking All The Greco-Roman Retellings I’ve Read! For Fun! Please Don’t Kill Me For Not Putting TSOA At #1!!! With Little To No Explanation.

1.) A Thousand Ships - Natalie Haynes

This is literally one of my fav books ever all time. The fact that we get retellings from so many of the women’s perspectives in one book, and not just the captive women, but the goddesses, AND EVEN THE MUSE TOO? Superb. I’m obsessed. I’ve read it three times over, which says a lot because I’ve only ever chosen to reread one other book. My fav chapters are the Calliope chapters, the Thetis chapter (so upset there was only one), the Cassandra chapters, and the Hekabe chapters!

2.) Stone Blind - Natalie Haynes & Silence Of The Girls - Pat Barker

I’m rereading Silence Of The Girls as I type this actually. It’s couldn’t choose between the two.. they were both so incredible. Similar to A Thousand Ships, Stone Blind takes on MANY different perspectives, including Medusa ofc. My fav was the Unnamed Neried chapter, that and the Panopeia chapters. And Silence Of The Girls.. oh my gods it such a guy wrenching retelling from Briseis’s perspective, and what day to day life must’ve been like on the camp. Also? Actually Accurate Patrochilles, finally.

3.) Wake, Siren - Nina MacLaughlin

First off, Roman Mythos retelling? Already in love. It’s just.. so gut wrenching. Every chapter makes you wanna scream. In the best way possible. I just,, I can’t put it into words how this books made me feel. The Thetis chapter hit me the hardest, obvi. But the Arachne chapter? Oh my gods I wanted to cry.

4.) Circe - Madeleine Miller

It was good. It was actually quite good, very good, even. But where it wasn’t good, it was.. questionable. Can we as a society stop trying to constantly villainize all the deities? Like, and before you say “biased perspective!!! Unreliable narrator!!” Which, yes, I love narrators that have a thing against the deities and emphasize the worst of what they’ve done, but there are certain parts in there where I’m like.. hello? Specifically when Hermes was saying that the Gods want mortals to be miserable bc a miserable mortal will give you more offerings then a happy one,,,, which like???? Hello??? When was that EVER the case ever?? I liked the ending.

5.) The Song Of Achilles - Madeleine Miller

Yeah I have a vendetta against this book. If you wanna read it, go for it, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, read the Iliad first. And maybe Silence of The Girls first too. Were Patroclus and Achilles in love? And probably kissing it sloppy style? Yeah. BUT WE CAN’T ERASE THE FACT THAT THEY WERE SLEEPING WITH WAR CAPTIVE WOMEN. And also, to not only ignore that, but then make it seem like they were treating Briseis well???? When she was literally A WAR CAPTIVE??? Also, I will never, EVER, forgive this book for demonizing Thetis. They made her seem like some homophobic mom as if she didn’t do EVERYTHING FOR HER SON. Idk. I also hate that this book bought on a whole new generation of people who think Patroclus was Achilles gay little twink boy. Like.. are we forgetting they were literally out committing war crimes probably.

Anyways that’s my list rn!!!! I wanna read Jennifer Saint’s books next.

for the first 13 years of my life, i would say it's 70/80s chart hits through my parents, and modern pop radio on my own. mostly the latter. the first song i ever became aware of was nelly furtado's maneater when i was 5. most of what i really did grow up around was pop radio like your generic local station shit. then my parents got cable when i was 7 which introduced me to more... curated things? i'm gonna speak in australian pay tv networks and artists here i'm sorry i hate speaking like this. but [v] (may it rest in peace for its shuttering is easily one of the worst losses i've ever experienced) was like my slow awakening to my more "alternative" tastes than the general packaged pop i'd been so used to at that point, in the way it was mostly just 2008-12 peak era (imo) triple j buzz bands and that kind of thing. artists i really remember getting into that time because of that were the presets – who'd just released apocalypso* at this point – and ladyhawke* – who had just released her self titled debut (another all timer.) very related is that modular (the label that issued these albums, and of tame impala fame) genuinely had some fucking top tier albums out in 2008, like van she's v and another all timer and pitchfork best new album in ghost colours* by cut copy. insane year for them, but back to me. i was really getting into listening to the weekly top 40 on radio around this time too. my local station was mostly syndicated programming from 2day from a certain hour. like their usual weekdaily thing was their morning show which i have never heard for some reason, then it was just local in house selected garbage that i have permanently seered into my mind now until 3 when they started the pre-record syndicated stuff like hamish and andy or kyle and jackie o. which after 5pm is when The Fucking Goods happened and you got the ill-fated hot 30 which was pretty much became a ritual thing for me when i was 9 until it was canceled when i was 11. on weekends i would listen to my beloved take 40 which i continued doing up until i was 12 and gained a proper internet connection. when i think back on this time period it it's kinda crazy how much music i was listening to and the fact it was just something i did and didn't know anybody else who was like crazy deep in music like this. but it did give me my extensive knowledge of 2000s/early 2010s popular music which i've been curating in a playlist since i was 15 that was just a comfort list turned mutant.

but the turning point in my taste came when i was 12 and got an non-poor person internet connection aka wifi, an ipad and a dream. at this point i was slowly moving away from charts and into full albums – something i never really did. one of the first albums i owned was rogue trader's here comes the drums* and that until katy perry's teenage dream were like the only albums i'd heard back to back. first album i brought in 2013 was ellie goulding's halcyon* and i pretty much burnt it to my pc and listened to it and it only for like 6 months of the year, before buying calvin harris' 18 months* on itunes when they did that u have 3 singles from this album u can buy the rest for $6 thing. by this time i was starting to get on socials and drift into fandom. one of the first ones was dan & phil who are big fans of muse and spoke about how origin of symmetry* is their fave album by them and i was like, damn i gotta check this out. from that point onwards for another like 6 months was the only album and first discogs ever sought out and listened to. through being in that fandom i started getting into music circles which happened right at the biggest turning point of my life. by mid 2014 i'd started to venture into the 2014 tumblr-core stuff; sky ferreira, vampire weekend, the strokes, grimes and twigs, and my first super hyperfixated musical act, foster the people. i was on indie twitter by this point and consumed by it and had completely stopped and refused to listen to top 40 radio which i still don't do. by 2015 i'd basically crafted my alternative taste and begun collecting vinyl. here's my top artists from my old last.fm to illustrate where i am as a 14 year old:

it pretty much stayed like this for somewhat unchanged until 2017 when i got a spotify subscription and started listening to radiohead a fair bit lol. by early 2018 i was starting to listen to fantano-core stuff and by extension got into post-punk, iceage-ajacent bands which led me to posh isolation and started my interest in noise/ambient stuff. late 2019 i started listening to the brixton windmill-ajacent bands like black midi and bc,nr and started using rateyourmusic and just discovering things over time.
