I have a lot of feelings about Buck, like don't even ask, I will never be able to put it into words or anything other than abstract feelings in this world
I just know this, Eddie loves Buck and Buck is ace and Taylor is a relapse ✌️
"You've been shutting me out."
It's ironic, Eddie thinks, that these exact words come now 20 minutes after the black out, which felt like maybe the world had shut down. They were stuck mid rescue in an elevator and well, the world had been such a whirlwind since he'd been shot, and this emergency and that- but now it had stopped. And they'd succumbed to their fate, sat down on the dingy elevator floor, bathed in a red back up light, the building silent around them. Out there, somewhere, a siren rang, and Buck sighed.
It was deep and heavy, like he was Atlas lifting the world off his shoulders for a break, something like relief, like that first deep shuddering breath when your lungs finally recovered from a run. It was way too heavy for a young man, barely thirty, who was finding himself. Eddie knew that Buck had been fighting lately. Mostly himself, but also his parents and past, and pushing past the boundaries of life that had been set around him. Then there was the shooting and Buck had truly been nerve-wrecked, Eddie was far from blind, and hell, he'd been a little preoccupied with figuring himself out, and recovering, letting go and paving the way for a future with no regrets- but he'd seen Buck. It was harder to look away at this point.
But he had, because the world had been spinning and Buck had been putting enough pressure on himself, becoming an uncle, and taking care of Chris with full abandon, and therapy and... Taylor. Eddie hadn't wanted to push too hard.
Now that they were here though, just the two of them...
Buck's looking at him, that irritated lost puppy stare, vulnerable and defiant all at once, like Eddie was the first to venture into certain spaces that made up Evan Buckley. It was a deliberant choice, at this point. Back in the beginning, he'd just reached out a hand and had been surprised to find an anchor to the world he'd never knew existed, and now he ventured further deliberately.
It hadn't been a question, and even so Buck looked ready to fight him, a last defensive wall, before he caved and those murky blue eyes dropped away. Full submission.
Eddie waited, opening up the room and hoping for his partner in crime and rescue to fill it and yet... Buck only shrugged weakly.
"Things have been..." He started half-heartedly, losing motivation half-way through and concluding with a disheartened, "busy." Eddie watched him busy himself with the callouses on his palm, picking and rubbing, as if he could erase the last few weeks of running himself ragged.
There had definitely been a lot less mentions of calls to Dr. Copeland lately, a lot of unfocused Buck, who was making himself smaller, less noticeable and quieter. Not that he was actually quiet, Eddie knew Buck could fill the building with vibrance for the benefit of everyone around within the blink of an eye. But his true emotions dwindled, where they'd slipped out before in shadows of an action, or an obvious plea hidden in drowning eyes - now he was more... Calculated.
And even now, Buck lifted his head again under Eddie's scrutiny in square-jawed surrender as if that was that to this conversation, there was nothing more to be done.
Eddie was not convinced. They'd gotten way too far, the two of them, to slip back down to the trenches in this mud slide. Eddie had found solid footing in his own world, and he was unafraid right here, under private eyes with the one person in the world he trusted most. Solid enough that he could stare right back at the nervous energy Buck was holding back and dare it.
What are you so afraid?
A question he had asked himself many sleepless nights, especially after Carla's little "follow your heart" speech, after he'd laid in bed, heart racing, hearing shots and all he wanted had been to-
All he'd wanted was safety, and he could've kept lying to himself, could've deliriously shouted at the universe that he didn't know where he could ever feel safe again, and yet his own body and heart had long gone betrayed him that day in the hospital just before he'd walked out, explicitly stating that he had signed his heart off to Buck a year ago. He couldn't even call it betrayal, because there wasn't a single cell in his body that doubted his decision, that doubted Buck. He just doubted... Himself.
And maybe that he'd be enough for Buck right now, still. He was so far from his best self, and yet better and more stable than he'd ever been. So he sat and he stared back, arms resting easily in his lap, and challenged.
"Why do you keep going back to her?"
Goddammit, Eddie, way to sound like the most jealous jerk in the world.
Buck winced, eyebrows seeming to ask 'really?' and 'what do you mean?' all at the same time and then shrugging again.
"Taylor?" He asked simply, biding time probably.
"Yeah," Eddie assured, the hum of the emergency light their only company as he waited for Buck to reply.
"She's the only one who really wants me," he said, but the tone of his voice wasn't right. Unconvinced. The admission to easily offered to ring true.
Eddie can't stop the snort of disbelief from escaping him. From all that he's heard about the rust-haired reporter... He couldn't imagine what Buck saw in her. He'd seen the effect of her words on him, saw Buck fall in line behind her with a bowed head, saw how the hurt now flared in Buck's face at his open faced challenge to that statement.
A part of Eddie wanted to grab Buck by the face and scream at him, can't you see?!
You're wanted whole-heartedly by me.
But Buck wasn't his to love yet, not really.
"Look, I don't know what you see on the outside but... She wants me. She chose me and I- what more could I ask for, you know? I'm... I'm working on it. On myself. And for now- this is it," Buck said, rattling it down like he was trying to work it into a checklist.
Eddie just wanted to know what 'it' was supposed to mean. But he nodded, because in a way it did make sense. The same way Ana had made sense, even though she absolutely didn't and he was glad that was over and he could laugh over that foolish affair now.
People had questioned his change of heart when he broke up with her during recovery, but when they'd realized he truly wasn't heartbroken and backsliding, they had taken it in full stride. A little misstep, no great scars taken (well except for the new bullet hole in his shoulder but that didn't really have anything to do with Ana, it just happened to be a part of the same journey heading toward a joined destination) and here they were at a pit stop.
The silence simmered between them, just somewhere right before the cliff, staggering before the precipice toward their comfort zone. It had always taken a little leap from both sides to get them to where they were today. Buck usually happens to fall into his without thinking much, just because he was ready to throw himself in dangers way or alternatively, rushing in out of sense of duty, and making it seem so, so very easy. The way he had walked into Eddie's house and kitchen, stepped right into his space and said: 'i'm here and I'm owning my mistakes because you're worth it' or something of the sort. All Eddie remembered was the care and the genuine emotion he'd felt and... The realization that he'd finally found home.
"It just feels like... You smile less when it comes to her." Eddie still did't really want to say her name. He wasn't about to go out blaming Taylor for all the times Buck was sad- it was just an observation. It took a lot to get Buck to giving up his smile. He hated that Taylor accepted a watered down version of him; bright, bold, and boasting Buck.
"Do I?" Buck asked, a furrowed crease appearing between his eyebrows, truly confused.
Eddie nodded.
"Relationships are always a compromise," Buck offered with a half-hearted twitch of his shoulder. "You know me. We're both pretty stubborn. We butt heads."
Buck flicked his wrist for a useless gaze at his watch. It made them none the wiser about the state of their rescue.
"Yeah, I know you," Eddie retorted gently. "Though, you do tend to have a point."
He could come up with a million examples. Eager, always ready to show up and make it work, Buck. How many times had he burrowed himself into Eddie's skin already with truths that stuck like thorns until Eddie accepted them into his bones.
All he wanted was to return the favor
The man granted him a small, crooked smile. It was crazy how much so little could mean to one person. Desperate, wounded, isolated Buck.
How Eddie wanted to tell him explicitly 'dont do what I did, kid, don't fall back into and habits at first chance just because you don't think you're worth anything else'- there were reasons why it didn't work in the first place. He'd learned the exact same lesson with Shannon. And God, the way Eddie had dragged Buck with him back then, for safety, as he had ranted to him and searched for the answers, only to make the same damn mistake.
That wasn't his life.
And Taylor wasn't Buck's. And Eddie knew this.
Knew from what Buck had told about her the first time she had been around, and from all that Eddie had heard about Buck's relationship to sex. It had turned into a joke at the station, oh, Buck and his self-diagnosed sex addiction, but Eddie recognized that worried little steeple on Bobby's forehead when he reminded everyone that that one therapist wasn't licensed to work for them anymore. But it went way deeper, didn't it?
Eddie knew about self-destructive behaviors. Not intimately. But he'd learned a lot about PTSD lately and adjacent behaviors. Buck and sex was a self-destructive bomb if he'd ever seen one.
And it was no coincidence that Taylor and Buck's relationship centered around physical intimacy.
Buck showed up where he was wanted or needed. They all knew that.
"Just... Make sure you get what you want too," Eddie said. "Put yourself first."
Cue the bewildered, insecure facial expression. Now and then Eddie wished he could hide Buck from the world. Shield him. For now all he could do was stand by.
"Because you'll always be wanted. Make sure the reasons are right for you. It has to be good for you."
And Eddie wouldn't be leaning so far out the window if Buck were to look him in the eyes and say 'nah it's not like that' but all he did was get quiet. Eddie couldn't leave him sitting like that, rearranging himself to stretch his legs out before they fell asleep and casually leaning his shoulder against Buck's.
"You're a good guy, Buck. You deserve only the best.
If you wanted Buck to hear you sometimes you had to get straight to the point.
Maybe one day Eddie could conquer his fear and say what he really wanted to say.
When they were both ready.

can I please request a bnha scenario where reader is best friends with midorya(and secretly in love with him) and she has a very abusive father but she hides it from him until he stars treating her worse and one day hurts her so bad that she runs away without even thinking why, and that when midorya finds his best friend and crush bloodied on his door in the middle of the night. a lot of fluff if you can please? thank you so so much! I hope its not too weird, Im just going through some stuff tbh
don’t you let me go tonight
Tumblr media
pairing: midoriya / reader
a/n: this is such a… deep request, im sorry for whatever you’re going through and please know im here for you and dont be afraid to reach out! i hope this imagine finds you in good health and while it’s only a story, i hope it in some way can make you feel just a little bit better!
warnings: violence, abuse, please beware!
“Oh man, that must have been some tough training.”
It’s hard to see who is speaking to you with the sun glaring in your eyes, but you didn’t need to look to know just who it is.
“Hah, yeah. Gotta train the best to be the best, y’know?” As you stand back up straight, you tug your sleeve down over your arms. Midoriya seems happy today, fired up with his fingers balled into a tight fist. He grins at you.
“Definitely,” his eyes, no longer able to wander over the countless bruises littering your arms, catch yours. “But don’t overwork yourself!”
You laugh, shoving your hands into your pockets. “You’re starting to sound like Iida.”
He falters before he loosens back up, rubbing the back of his head. “I guess I do. But seriously, those look kinda bad. Shouldn’t you go see Recovery Girl?”
“Again?” You raise a brow at him. “I just saw her last week- I don’t really want to get lectured for training too hard.”
“Exactly,” he’s starting to get worried again, it makes you nervous. “You’re in almost as much as me.”
“I’m fine, Midoriya.” It’s hard to assure him at this point. It used to be so easy- just a quick, ‘trained too hard’ and he would be all too happy to carry on. Now, things are different. He’s starting to ask questions, he’s starting to suspect things. There’s a longing in his eyes when you hide your wounds from him.
“Alright,” he backs off reluctantly, sighing. “If you say so.”
It bothers you to the core to lie to him like this, but… It’s better than telling him the truth. A hero should never tell lies, especially not to those you care for the most, but you couldn’t bear the thought of him finding out just what was actually the source of your bruises, your cuts. They’re easy fixes by Recovery Girl, but you’ve visited her so many times that even she is starting to get antsy. Surely, you can’t be this reckless, she’d said, an odd look in her eyes. Since then, you’ve been reducing your trips. You didn’t want her to know. You didn’t want anyone to know.
Whether it was because you despised the pity or the embarrassment, you weren’t sure.
After all, what kind of hero allows themselves to be struck by their own father?
What kind of hero comes that kind of family, anyways?
Midoriya has always been so helpful to you, the perfect lifeline, whether he knows it or not. The times you spend with him leisurely, not having to worry, to hide or fear, were your favorites. Even now, his eyes full of concern, you can’t help but feel… Safety.
But you can’t be with him forever, as much as you’d like to. Your phone vibrates in your pocket, and you pull it out and fight the grimace that threatens to show.
5:05 PM: Get home right now.
5:11 PM: Can you read?
5:15 PM: If you’re not home in 10, I’m coming to get you.
You feel like you’re choking. Somehow you missed his messages. Somehow you didn’t hear your phone going off, a sound you’d trained yourself never to miss specifically for times like these. If you weren’t in public, you’d be bawling your eyes out.
“Everything okay?” Midoriya asks like he knows what you’re hiding. You press your lips into a tight line, force down the anxiety, and smile at him cheerily.
“Of course. Dinner time.” Your voice wavers and you pray he doesn’t hear it.
“Text me when you’re done!” He beams, and you can feel it in your chest. He’s just… The sweetest. The best you know. You want to tell him everything- let your words vomit and spill, but you can’t. He handles enough on his own.
Though you’d rather die than leave knowing what’s waiting for you at home, you pull your bag over your shoulder and wave goodbye. As you turn your back on him, you take a good look at his face. He’s still happy, a bright but tired smile on his lips. He’s been working so hard lately to get control over his quirk, the one that seemingly came out of nowhere.
Something feels different in the world when he leaves your line of sight. Everything feels heavy, like doom. Your stomach hurts on the way home as you leave your safety net. It even takes you a moment to get inside, standing at your own front door, terrified to open it.
Maybe he’ll be in an okay mood. Maybe it really is dinner time, maybe tonight things will be fine.
You take in a deep breath before you grasp the doorknob, turning-
It flies open before you can even try to open it.
“There you are,” his voice turns your blood cold. “When I tell you to come home, you come home,” he reaches out, catches you by your arm, yanks you inside. The world around you is gone in a blur. “Got it?”
You’re thrown onto the floor, your nose colliding with the tile. The door slams shut behind you as you scrabble to your knees.
“What took you so damn long, huh?” There’s a hand grasping the collar of your shirt, yanking you to your feet roughly as you’re gagged by the force. Your father isn’t mad tonight- he’s enraged. When you’re face to face with him he grabs the fabric of your shirt, lifting your feet off the floor. “Explain!”
“I-I was just training-” He shakes you as you speak. “I’m sorry!”
“Training?!” You’re dropped to the floor, terror racing through you. There’s no one home, just you and him- there’s nothing stopping him. “This stupid U.A. bullshit again! It was with that green kid again wasn’t it?”
When you don’t respond he gets even angrier. A boot plants itself on your shoulder and-
You scream.
You swear something cracks beneath his weight.
“Keep your mouth shut, brat!” There’s fingers in your hair. “I ought to kill you!”
“Stop!” You howl, tears racing down your cheeks. You hate him, you hate him, you want to fight back but you can’t. He’s so much stronger but being lifted by your hair is agony-
Before you can stop yourself, your nails catch the skin of his hands.
You hit the floor before you can even realize it. His shadow covers yours. You can’t see his face, he just stands silently. It’s the most terrifying thing you’ve ever witnessed.
When he reaches down and catches you by the throat, you think of Midoriya.
You soon realize why the world felt wrong when you left him.
The sun had long since set by the time Midoriya finally wandered home. His muscles are blissfully exhausted, his stomach grateful when he opens the front door and smells pork cooking. His mother chose a late dinner tonight knowing he would be busy training with his friend.
“Izuku! Is that you?” She calls, and he slips his shoes off.
“Yeah, it’s me!” He shuffles into the kitchen, slipping his jacket off and hanging it over the arm of the couch. “That smells great, mom.”
“It’s your favorite!” She lifts the lid off of a pot, and when the steam clears, he sees that delicious sizzling meat. He almost drools at the scent, but she has him shaking out of it when she speaks again. “How was training with ___?”
“It was good. She had to go kinda early though so I just stayed alone for a few hours.”
His mom frowns.  “Aw, here I was hoping she’d be coming back with you. I even made extra.”
Midoriya laughs graciously. “I’ll save her some. I’m sure she’ll appreciate it for lunch tomorrow.”
“Why don’t you ask her if she’d like to come over tonight?” Inko says, stirring some of the cooking rice. “You guys haven’t had a sleepover in a while.”
Midoriya scratches his cheek. “I don’t think her dad wants her to anymore.”
Inko seems to tense up for a moment, a strange look in her eyes. “Oh, right.”
There’s a memory that flashes through his mind. It was so long ago but he remembers it so clearly. He’d walked you home after playing, just two kids having fun at the playground, but it was shortlived. Her dad had called her in and Midoriya, being the good friend he was, walked her to her doorstep. When she went inside, he got a good look at your father. A civilian, but in that moment, staring up at him, he swore he saw a villain. You were yanked inside before you could even say goodbye properly, and the door was promptly slammed shut in his face.
He came home crying that day, and Inko had a less than enjoyable phone conversation with him. Since then they kept their interactions at a minimum, and you only ever came to Midoriya’s, never the other way around.
“I’ll put some in a box for her,” she tries to bring her tone back up, but she can’t shake the uneasiness. “I hope she likes it.”
Midoriya pulls his phone from his back pocket and glances over his notifications, a heaviness settling in his gut. Something feels a bit off, as though something was going to happen at any moment. You never got back to him, and while that wasn’t the first time you’d gone radio silent after heading home, it didn’t feel right. Tonight, strangely, he felt like he needed an ‘ok’ from you.
are you okay?
He clicks send and waits, sitting down on the couch in silence while his mother absently fills the one-sided conversation with something nonchalantly. After ten minutes, his eyebrows knit. You haven’t even looked at it yet. Eating dinner felt oddly hollow, like there was something wrong. He goes to bed with that same feeling.
The first time he hears the sound, he thinks he’s dreaming. Soft sounds, almost like distant pounding, at his front door. He sits up with bleary eyes and yawns, glancing at the clock.
3 a.m.
Slowly, he gets out of bed and makes his way to his living room. There’s a set of frequent knocks and, yeah, he heard them that time. It makes him pick up the pace, a worried frown apparent when he finally pulls the doorknob and yanks the door open. What he sees has him stuck in his place, his eyes wide, his hands tight in fists.
It’s you.
One arm is slung around your gut, your open hand splayed over your stomach, while the other reaches out to support your body weight against the frame. You aren’t looking up at him, your head hung low, but already he can see the obvious pain you’re in.
“___?” He whispers.
You slowly find the strength to look up at him. There’s blood everywhere he looks. It drips down your nose, paints your lips. It smears down the side of your head, and splits the bridge of your nose.
“Izuku,” you sputter, and he hasn’t heard you say his first name like that before. “I’m sorry.”
He doesn’t know what to do. He doesn’t even know what to say. You’re in so much pain.
“___!” Midoriya’s arms find you in a split second, catching you as you lose your grip, holding you up as he brings you inside. The door slams shut as he leads you to his couch and sits you down on the cushioning. He slides the coffee table away just so he can sit on his knees and reach up to touch your face. The way you flinch away breaks his heart in two. “What happened to you?!”
“I-” you can barely even fucking speak. He cradles your face in his hands and he can’t stop the tears that prick at his eyes. Of all the people he never wanted to see in this state, so broken, it was you. And he doesn’t even know what to do. There’s nothing he can do.
“___, wait here,” as much as he doesn’t want to leave you there, he needs to clean you up. His mind races as he grabs whatever he can find- mainly items he cleans himself up with. A rag, antiseptic, bandages. When he comes back, you’ve fallen on your side, hands holding your gut. He has to stand there for a moment- he has to register it.
He crouches before you, reaches out, and touches the side of your head. Your eyes open, and finally, his tears fall.
“What happened.” His voice shakes, your hair is damp against his palms.
“I can’t do it anymore.” God, you sound pitiful. “I can’t.”
“Do what?” As he sets down the items, his eyes never leave yours. You aren’t crying anymore, you’re just…
Empty.
He presses the rag to your nose and your eyes scrunch shut. He swipes it across your cheekbones and you whimper.
“I’m sorry,” he tries to say as evenly as possible. “But I have to get this off of you.”
“I didn’t know where else to go.” Your voice sounds far away, almost as if you were talking to yourself. “I have nowhere else to go.”
“It’s okay.” Midoriya isn’t even sure if you can actually hear him, but he says it anyways as he wipes his eyes fervently. “It’s okay.”
He wants to hold you. He wants to reach out and pull you against him and heal every single last wound on your flesh, but he can’t. He doesn’t know where it all hurts, he doesn’t want to move you, he feels like if he presses too hard, you’ll break.
You deserve so much better.
“___,” he reaches out and carefully, oh so softly, touches the side of your face. “Can you hear me?”
Your eyes flicker to his lips, and then his eyes. When you nod, he lets out a breath, not that it makes him feel any better. At least you’re lucid still.
“Can you sit up?” He hates talking to you like a medic, but he needs to help you. You’re still bleeding, your breaths are coming out in wheezes. He wants to know (though he has a good guess) but he can’t focus on that. When you nod, he’s so gentle in helping you upright. Every flinch makes him want to let go. “Please tell me if you want me to stop.”
You don’t tell him yes, but you don’t tell him no either. The condition you’re in makes him feel like he’s going to be sick.
It takes time, but he wipes the red from your face in smooth motions. He can see the worst of it now- split lip, scuffs and bruises surrounding your once bloodied nose. He knows these wounds well, and it makes him want to throw up every last bite of his meal.
You’re watching him with a certain kind of fear. Not quite directly, but definitely there. You aren’t afraid of him, and that’s all that matters.
He wraps you up to the best of his ability, your arms looking more mummified than anything else. You’re not shaking, you still aren’t crying. You stopped meeting his gaze the moment he wrapped your purpled wrists in shame.
“___,” he comes to sit beside you, terrified. “Are you listening to me?”
Silence.
He reaches out tentatively, wraps an arm around your shoulder. “___?”
You… Fall against him. Your head takes a spot against his shoulder limply, and he latches onto you.
Finally, the tears fall as you shake against him.
“I can’t do it,” you sob feebly. “Every day Izuku, I can’t do it.”
“Everyday what?” There’s urgency in his voice. You cry harder.
“I don’t even know what I do wrong anymore he’s just so-… He hates me so much.”
Midoriya remembers seeing him, that darkness in his eyes. His eyes narrow at nothing, his fingers bringing you closer. Despite the agony you try to become closer, you try to hide against him, and he lets you. You weep openly for the first time with your face buried in the crook of his neck.
“I can’t, I can’t, he’ll kill me if I ever come back-” Midoriya’s arms wrap around you. “He hates me so much- He- He said if I come back he won’t hold back-”
“You’re not going back.” He presses his lips to the top of your head and he holds you so fucking close, he shakes just as hard as you do, he feels rage and fear and everything under the sun beneath his skin but he doesn’t dare let you go. “You will not go back to him, do you hear me?”
When you pull away to see his face, he’s crying too. They’re angry tears, he’s furious, but he’s more terrified than anything else.
You feel exposed when his arms leave you but soon enough those scarred hands are on either side of your face, they’re holding you, thumbs swiping softly against your damp cheeks. He doesn’t even bother wiping his own eyes.
“I will never let him hurt you again,” he’s been dying to say it since he connected the dots. “Ever. He’ll have to come through me.”
The way you just crumble to pieces cuts him to the bone. Your wails threaten to wake his mother but he can’t find it in himself to care. Let her wake. Let her see the damage your father has done, let her burn him to the ground.
“I’m sorry,” you sputter, fingers digging into the fabric of his night shirt. “I’m sorry.”
He’s sure that you don’t even know what you’re apologizing for. For never telling him, for lying, for showing up like this, none of it matters to him but it matters to you and he wishes he could take it all way.
But all he can do is pull you against him, chest to chest, wrap his arms around the trembling muscles of your back, and cry, “It’s okay. It’s all okay, don’t you dare think it’s not for even a minute.”
You’re both babbling to each other, you with apologies, him assuring that it’s okay, it’s okay, it’s okay, you’re safe now, he will never touch you again.
Over your shoulder he can see the clock on the wall. It’s 4 now, the two of you have class in the morning, but there isn’t a thing in the world that could pry you off of him. His hands hold too tightly, his arms locked in place.
“Izuku,” you hiccup, and he feels it in his heart. “I don’t wanna go back.”
“You won’t. You’re staying right here.” He buries his face into your hair. “For as long as I’m here I won’t let him hurt you ever again. I love you too much to see you like this.”
I love you too much to see you like this.
At many points of his life, he’s imagined how he would confess to you. Under a sky full of stars, at a beach during fireworks, in the schoolyard on a warm spring day. Never like this, but yet… It feels right. You nod against him, you hear him, still crying.
“Thank you,” you cry, “Please don’t let go of me.”
“Never.” His eyes shut, his hands press flat and smooth over your bruises. “From now on, I’ll always have you. Please just… Just don’t hide from me anymore.”
You shake your head. “Never again. I’m sorry I never told you, I was so scared.”
“Of what? That I wouldn’t believe you?”
“I don’t know, I just…” You sniffle, trying to breathe. “I didn’t want you to know. I didn’t want you t-to worry, or to think lesser of me.”
Midoriya shakes his head. “I will never think lesser of you.”
You pull away and wipe your eyes, and then you reach out and wipe his away too. “Do you promise that?”
He nods. “I promise.”
Your head falls, but it’s not tragic. You’re so fucking tired, and he knows this, he knows you’ve been through hell and back. He knows you still have miles of darkness to go. He doesn’t want you to wallow in that, so he reaches out again. It’s not easy maneuvering to lay down, you beside him, on the length of the couch, but he gets it done. Never once do his fingers let you go, even then, tugging against him protectively.
“Your stomach, does it hurt?” He asks, dragging the blanket from the back of the couch.
“Yeah, but…” You shift against him, sniffling once more. “I don’t think anything’s broken. It’s been worse.”
If not for your safety against him, in his arms and on his couch, he would have felt the rage like adrenaline. Just that one line was stronger than any plus ultra move. His lips quiver but he bites it down.
“You’ll be okay,” he whispers as you tuck your head under his chest. “I’ll make sure of it. This will never happen again.”
You murmur a thank you with the quietest voice he’s ever heard. In the morning, he’ll have so much to face. Recovery Girl will have to be filled in, no matter how much you want to move on without a sound. His mother will have to know, though she likely guessed it years ago when she met him.
Midoriya’s hands find the small of your back, and the way you finally relax against him makes him breathe out a sigh of relief. He’ll skip school tomorrow, see Recovery Girl with you, do everything necessary for you to never return to that home ever again.
But for now, he just holds you. He pets the tremors out of your skin, and he matches his breathing with yours, until finally it softens into quiet snores. He kisses the top of your head, and he vows that from that point on, you will never feel this pain ever again.

On an album of bittersweet childrens tunes that she wrote in excess of ten years back, the woman who came for being recognized only because the piano teacher available what, in hindsight, looks as if an eerie glimpse of her possess long run.
Im going away today to a spot so far away, in which nobody is familiar with my title, she wrote inside the lyrics of the music named Going.
When she wrote that tune, she was youthful and vivacious, a piano Trainer and freelance audio writer who beloved Beethoven and jazz, sunsets and river sounds, lengthy walks and every little thing about New York.
On a kind of beloved walks, by way of Central Park in the brilliant Solar of the June day in 1996, a homeless drifter beat her and attempted to rape her, leaving her clinging to lifetime. After the assault, the words to her music came real. She moved absent, from New York City, out of her outdated life, and all but her closest buddies didn't know her title. To the remainder of the planet, she was — much like the a lot more renowned jogger attacked in Central Park seven several years before — an anonymous symbol of the urban nightmare. She was the piano Instructor.
Now, within the 10th anniversary from the attack, she's celebrating what seems to be her total recovery from brain trauma. She is forty two, married, with a little boy or girl. She is Kyle Kevorkian McCann, the piano Trainer, and she or he would like to tell her story, her way.
Her health care provider informed her it could consider ten years to Get better, and Sunday was that talismanic anniversary. I experience my lifetime has become redefined by Central Park, she reported several times in the past, her voice soft and hopeful. Before park; immediately after park. Will there ever be a time when I dont Feel, Oh, this is the 10th anniversary, the 11th anniversary?
She spoke in her modest ranch property inside a wooded subdivision in a The big apple suburb. She sat in the eating home strewn with toys, surrounded by photos of her cherubic, dark-haired 2-year-outdated daughter. A Steinway grand filled 50 percent the home, and at one particular level she sat down and performed. Her taking part in was forceful, but she appeared embarrassed to Perform more than a few bars, and shrugged, rather than answering, when questioned the identify in the piece. She requested that her daughter and her city not be named.
Tumblr media
She calls that working day, June 4, 1996, the working day After i was hurt.
Hers was the main in the string of attacks by the identical person on 4 women about 8 days. The final victim, Evelyn Alvarez, 65, was crushed to Loss of life as she opened her Park Avenue dry-cleansing store, and finally, the assailant, John J. Royster, was convicted of murder and sentenced to daily life in prison.
But the attack over the piano Trainer could be the 1 folks feel to keep in mind essentially the most. Part of the fascination has got to do with echoes of the 1989 attack over the Central Park jogger. But In addition it frightened individuals in a way the attack on the jogger did not since its conditions ended up so mundane.
It did not happen inside a remote Portion of the park late in the evening, but in close proximity to a well known playground at three during the afternoon. It might have transpired to any individual. The stress was heightened with the thriller from the piano lecturers identity.
For three days, as law enforcement and doctors tried using to learn who she was, she lay within a coma in her medical center mattress, anonymous. Her dad and mom were on holiday vacation and her boyfriend, also a musician, was in Europe, on tour. Last but not least, among her pupils recognized a police sketch and was capable of recognize her in the medical center by her fingers, mainly because her face was swollen past recognition. The law enforcement did not release her identify.
The very last thing she remembers about June four, 1996, is supplying a lesson in her studio condominium on West 57th Road, then putting her lengthy hair in the ponytail and heading out to get a wander. She would not remember the attack, While she has listened to the accounts with the law enforcement and prosecutors.
youtube
To me its just like a reality I figured out and memorized, she mentioned. Like I were being a university student at school finding out historical past.
She isn't going to contemplate the man who did it. I may need been angry for the moment, although not for much longer than that, she stated. How could I be indignant at John Royster? He was declared not insane, but I guess by our standards he was.
Dr. Jamshid Ghajar, her medical professional at Big apple Medical center-Cornell Health-related Center, as it had been known in 1996, instructed reporters that she had a ten per cent chance of survival. Physicians had to remove her forehead bone, which was later changed, to generate area for her swelling Mind. When her mom designed a public appeal to pray for my daughter, hundreds did.
Right after 8 days, she arrived away from a coma, very first in a vegetative state, then in the childlike point out. As she recovered, she slept very little and talked continuously, at times in gibberish. I had been getting mad at men and women every time they didnt respond to these words and phrases, she claimed.
Like an Alzheimers patient, she had little quick-expression memory and would neglect readers when they still left the room.
Around various months, she had to relearn the way to stroll, gown, browse and generate. Her boyfriend, Tony Scherr, frequented every day to Engage in guitar for her. He inspired her to Enjoy the piano, towards the recommendation of her Actual physical therapists, who imagined she can be discouraged by her inability to play the best way she when experienced. Mr. Scherr performed Beatles duets with her, participating in the still left-hand part whilst she performed the correct.
Which was my very best therapy, she reported.
In August, she moved again dwelling to New Jersey, along with her father, an engineer, and mother, a schoolteacher. She frequented outdated haunts and termed pals, making an attempt to restore her shattered memory. I was quite obsessive about remembering, she reported. Any memory decline was to me an indication of abnormality or deficit.
Her therapists believed her progress was terrific, but her two sisters protested that she was not the deep thinker she had been.
youtube
What bothered her most was that she had dropped a chance to cry, as though a faucet within her brain were turned off. One particular evening, nine months after she was harm, she stayed up late to look at the John Grisham Film A The perfect time to Eliminate. Just after her father experienced absent to bed, she watched a courtroom scene of Samuel Jacksons character on demo for killing two Guys who had raped his younger daughter.
The faucet opened, and also the tears trickled down her cheeks. I thought of my mother and father, my father, and the things they went through, she stated. Very little by small, my experience returned, my depth of brain returned.
Urged by her sisters, she went back again to highschool and bought a masters diploma in songs education.
youtube
Not all the things went perfectly. She and Mr. Scherr split up five years after the attack, although they continue to be friends. She dated other Males, but she usually advised them with regard to the attack instantly — she could not support it, she reported — and so they never ever referred to as for just a 2nd day.
We've got to find you anyone, her friend David Phelps, a guitar player, claimed four years in the past, right before introducing her to Liam McCann, a computer technician and amateur drummer. For once, she did not say something about the attack until finally she acquired to grasp Mr. McCann, after which you can when she did, he admired her power.
Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, who had frequently frequented her at her bedside while she was inside the healthcare facility, married them in his Moments Sq. Office environment. She wore a blue costume and pearls. Although she was pregnant, inside of a burst of creativity, she and her pals recorded While Had been Younger, an album of childrens songs that she had written before the attack, such as the song Shifting. Her ex-boyfriend, Mr. Scherr, generated the CD. On it, her husband plays drums and she or he performs electrical piano.
Is her everyday living as it was? Not accurately, however she is hesitant to attribute the variations to her injuries. Her previous two piano pupils left her, without contacting to elucidate why, she stated. She has resumed playing classical tunes, but straightforward pieces, for the reason that her daughter would not give her the perfect time to practice. As for jazz, I dont even attempt, she reported.
She want to drive more, feeling stranded inside the suburbs, but she is definitely rattled. She attempts to be material with being residence and caring for her daughter.
Tumblr media
Dr. Ghajar, a scientific professor of neurological surgical procedure at what on earth is now termed New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Clinical Heart, who operated on Ms. Kevorkian McCann after the assault, said past week that her level of Restoration was unusual. Shes in essence ordinary, he explained.
Other authorities, who are not Individually aware of Ms. Kevorkian McCanns scenario, tend to be more cautious.
Regaining the ability to play the piano may include an Virtually mechanical course of action, a semiautomatic remember of what the fingers ought to do, reported Dr. Yehuda Ben-Yishay, a professor of clinical rehabilitation medication at New York College School of Medicine. At the time brain-wounded, you happen to be generally brain-hurt, For the remainder of your daily life, Dr. Ben-Yishay reported. There isn't a remedy, There is certainly only intense compensation.
The more telling A part of a Restoration, in his perspective, is psychological, and on that rating he counts Ms. Kevorkian McCanns relationship and child as a major victory.
For her element, the piano teacher knows she has modified, but she has built her peace with it. I used to be kind of a hyper —— I dont know if I had been a sort A, but I used to be bold, she says. Why was I so formidable? I had been a piano teacher. I dont determine what the ambition was about. I really did return to the person Im purported to be.

The Vigilante Of The 'Ville: Our Mayor's Goes Full Bogan On Potential Looters
In a thinly disguised endorsement of vigilante violence, Mayor Mullet plays to the bogan voting block and further bolsters Townsvilles backwoods image. And the blame game has already started, with the Premier tossing Mayor Mullet a hospital pass on national TV and the mayor instantly fumbling it on Also, why Astonisher editor Jenna Cairney may not be with us much longer could it be argued shes doing too good a job? Youll stop laughing when you see the latest readership numbers. And while debate about insurance premiums are sure to be front and center following our floods, worse news on that front from down south a Queensland judge has just made an astounding ruling that could send premiums through the roof across the board And since the world goes on elsewhere, The Pie presents a riveting, must-see video: a clever and forensic dissection, grimly hilarious in its own way of the underlying threat to the US and the world and no, it is not Donald Trump. But first As Townsvilles huddled and weary flood victims start the long trek back to normality, it was heartening to look back and see that urban animals were not forgotten as people fled to safety. Although, as Bentley surmises, it was no time to adopt new pets.
Tumblr media
Irony Corner Seems Mayor Mullets vision for 2020 has come somewhat early. Oh, cruel, cruel fate.
Tumblr media
Its Going To Be A Long Road Ahead On Many Fronts Well talk about the inquiry into the handling of the flood shortly, but its one hell of a the mountain we have to climb to recover from this A perceptive reader and regular commenter with connections out west provided this appraisal of just some pitfalls awaiting us. The implications of the monsoon disaster go far beyond the immediate damage to housing and community infrastructure in the city itself, and could havepotentially massive implications for Townsvilles economy and ongoing employment in The city.
Tumblr media
Reliable local sources in the mineral transport sector have told me that they are anticipating the rail line between Townsville and Mt Isa will have hundreds of km of track washed away, and if this is the case they expect it would be closed for at least 6-8 months. Massive amounts of mineral product are railed to Townsville from the western mineral province for further processing and/or shipment through the Port. While it will be possible to switch some of the product to road transport this will result in tens of thousands of extra heavy vehicle movements with the resultant safety implications and wear and tear on the Flinders Highway and local roads, and will present a logistical nightmare to schedule and manage. In any case road transport can never handle the sheer volume of product currently being sent on rail. There is even a whisper it may have an impact on the viability of Glencores smelter operations in Mt Isa. After all, what is the point of operating the smelter if they cant transport the product out in viable quantities? If this is the case it would have flow on implications for their Copper Refinery in Stuart as the Mt Isa smelter is the primary source of the raw copper anode used in the refining process. It was only 3 or 4 years ago that Glencore were seriously considering closing both the Mt Isa smelter and Townsville refinery and moving to production and sale of bulk concentrated product only. Closure of the rail line for an extended period may be enough to tip the scale towards ceasing the operation of both the smelter and refinery. Challenging times are indeed ahead for our city. Jenny Hills Disgraceful Dog Whistling If ever any one instance among so many can be definitively cited to question Jenny Hills fitness for leadership, it would have to be this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is simply disgraceful, cynical and above all, irresponsible. She said it two or three times in different instances, and it can only have been a cheap ploy to paint herself as in tune with the community sentiment. Or perhaps she really doesnt understand her role, because thats not leading, thats being led. What a person with real leadership qualities, dignity and care for her citys image would have done would be the exact opposite of this thinly veiled condoning of rough justice a call to people under stress by current circumstances and generally fed up with property crime to curb a natural tendency to violence against anyone found looting. Work with the police, but dont try to do their job, should have been the message, I understand how youre feeling now, but you have to rise above the temptation to be lawless, to any sort of summary justice whatever you do, do not act like a mob. But no, the message seen around Australia, delivered by this swaggering bogan Boedicia, ensured the growing perception of Townsville as a bogan backwater was reinforced in the most damaging fashion. And Jenny, youd better hope to hell no mob action results in serious assault or even murder or you will be held morally and even possibly legally, responsible. Simply disgraceful. So Mayor Mullets Miracle Turns To Mud There is little doubt that Jenny Hill was hoping for an miracle electoral recovery by doing a sterling job that would gain her much needed kudos during the floods, steering the city through the crisis and ending up with a dam fill of water. Well, she got the water all right, but her hopes for the kudos are unlikely. The floods have exposed several issues that started well before last week chaotic staff deployment, lack of experience in handling the information flow, an alarming failing in the out-dated and poorly maintained (through lack of proper staff) fleet of council vehicles, and long-standing dangerous planning laws. But the immediate the questions already being asked about the timings of releasing the backed-up water has managed to raise questioning eyebrows everywhere. Both the premier and the mayor both recognised as cynical if inept political operators have suddenly moved to distance themselves from that decision making, as The Pie noted in comments on Friday.
Tumblr media
The Premier has done it in the most cowardly panicked manner, dodging straight-forward questions about the issue by seeking to blame the Townsville Council because they own the Ross Dam. Thats true BUT the water is managed by SunWater, a statutory Queensland Government-owned corporation. Wouldnt that be the putative body having a big say in advising strategy? And Mayor Hill is seeking what cover she can get by today repeatedly using the phrase the council decided instead of I, as mayor and chair of the Disaster Committee decided . This is just the start of some furious back-pedalling that can only be sorted out by an independent inquiry. The Magpie Gets Something Off His Chest There were a lot of side issues tumbling about in the muddied waters during the week. The Pie was mightily chuffed to see the ABC interview with an old copper friend from years back, Matty Lyons (constable back in The Pies court reporting days, and now crikey, well done, Matty Acting Inspector Mathhew Lyons ). Driving about the stricken city with the reporter, Officer Lyons was calm, authoritative, and mercifully free from buzz word obscurity, just plain language about how it felt to be doing this job. He summed it up by simply saying This is what we do. Perhaps it was that quiet and dignified summation that prompted The Magpie to blow a long-suppressed gasket when he responded to this comment during the week regarding the unfortunate drowning of two men fleeing police after a suspected looting incident. February 8, 2019 at 8:30 am(Edit) Has anyone given a thought to the two poor young coppers who watched them being swept away to their almost certain deaths? Or the police diver who found their bodies? The Magpie February 8, 2019 at 12:45 pm(Edit) Hey, hang on suddenly the police are the victims of the tragedy? This sort of nonsense has got to stop. Police do a difficult and dangerous job, and see things most of us never want to see, but they are trained in this, volunteered to join up for this, and have guidance and counselling available if required. While what The Pie calls officer anguish can be real and debilitating in extreme cases, it is surely vastly overstated. Police Union boss Ian Leavers is a past master at this tactic, making out that we should be concentrating on the emotions of the attending officers rather than the real victims of accidents, murders and other unpleasantness they attend. If nothing else, this invites all police officers to embrace a weird sort of victimhood of emotional injury. (Of course, this does not include actual injuries courageous police officers receive in the line of duty, but again, the dead fish-stare, Peter Dutton-lookalike Leavers trots out the totally false mantra that police do not go to work expecting to be assaulted and deserve to be able to go home uninjured to their families. False because that is EXACTLY what they are entitled to expect, especially when given their powers of arrest and hardware to accomplish this if necessary. Such irresponsible, unintelligent sophistry completely belies what a police officers main tasks are all about inter alia controlling, detaining and otherwise engaging with the criminal, the drunk and the unfortunate mental sufferers. Does he suggest that all the wrong-doers in this world have some sort of moral obligations to walk forward, arms outstretched for the cuffs, saying You got me bang to rights, constable, sorry about that? Morals and criminals are mutually exclusive terms and for zealots like Leavers to imply otherwise is just plain insulting. And dopey. Cor, that feels better. But not for long heres something that is unfathomable, a judge reaching a decision that is deeply disturbing, and could affect the already strained hip pocket of every Queenslander who owns and/or drives a vehicle.
Tumblr media
The nub of the story is that Justice Peter Flanagan found the late Byron Williams, who was speeding and intoxicated with amphetamines and cannabis when his car hit a tree on the Sunshine Coast in 2013, had a legal duty of care not to expose the officer to psychiatric injury through his negligence, which in fact killed him at the scene. Former senior constable David Paul Caffrey developed post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after his experiences at the scene, including trying to keep Mr Williams alive with first aid and encouragement, and then leading his parents to farewell their son shortly before his death. No one doubts the aftermath was very real and tragic, and Mr Caffrey has indeed suffered greatly, including losing his job. But how this is the insurance companys fault can only be the result of the arcane reasoning of finer points of the law by Justice Flanagan. The judge dismissed any such argument, with the ABC reporting:Lawyers for Williams insurance company argued not his responsibility to take reasonable steps to avoid exposing officers to psychiatric harm through his death or suffering. They argued the public could reasonably expect that emergency service officers such as police were trained and equipped to avoid harm via exposure at accident scenes. Justice Flanagan ordered the insurer pay $1,092,948 in damages. The payout seems about right under legal guidelines for this sort of serious mental and emotional injury, but The Magpie takes issue with who has to pay it it is surely the Police Unions insurers isnt it the union that allows their members to be so exposed to this sort of thing? , or the relevant government departments responsibility, for the same reason. That way, those loving, caring and oh-so-fair outfits called insurance companies will have no excuse to whack a premium on all driver insurances, to guard against causing similar injury caused by you being maimed or dying in a car accident. Other Unbelievable Scenes In Townsville Messagebank Curiously Examining A Strange Oblong Object
Tumblr media
So what, you say? Well, check the background bloke
Tumblr media
Could it be that Deputy DooDah Les Messagebank Walker really does check his messages and respond to the concerns of the Townsville ratepayers? Haha, just jokin. Of course he could be doing any of the following: * betting on the neddies * getting a date * ordering at the bottle-o * organising campaign donations * building an international hotel in his division * seeking positions vacant for a job when his political career is over (in March next year) * checking a bus timetable, or the latest date for the opening of the CBD bus hub. More likely just playing Candy Crush. Odds Are Jenna Cairney Will Soon Be Heading South The Magpie makes this prediction after checking the latest eye-popping readership figures for regional newspapers.
Tumblr media
See if you can spot why head office in Holt Street might see a bigger future for Ms Cairney. Yup, a whopping 34.4% lift year on year, and almost as satisfying as at least tying with the Cairns Post, just one thousand off the Canberra Times!!! Which either says a lot of good things about The Bulletin or a lot of bad things about the Canberra Times your choice. If The Pie has been happy to accept the previous uniformly ghastly Astonisher readership figures supplied by the Roy Morgan survey outfit, then he can hardly refute this spectacular jump in the Astonishers fortunes, hard to believe though it is. So well done, Jenna and crew and whoever thought up all those pester power promotions for kids free books series over a week with each paper. And a reminder, readership is done by survey, while circulation is the actual number of newspapers printed and distributed in one form or another. A couple of years ago, all News Corpse papers suddenly withdrew from the traditional agreement to supply circulation figures to the audit bureau, so the public and advertisers can only take their word for whatever they say about numbers. But heres an interesting little bit of maths the Bulletin has always made the amusing claim to support phantasmagorical claims by News own readership measurement mob EMMA that every single paper is read by EIGHT separate people yes, eight. So the last known week circulation was about 17,000 and falling, so youd guess it was around 15 to 14000 now , BUT if no one at News was telling fibs, a simple calculation ( 8 divided into 44) we get a print run of about 5500 on weekdays. Hmmm Somebodys been telling fibs, but the news can only be good for Ms Cairney anyone who can turn a paper around like that, though it still be a pale shadow of its glory days, is obviously bound for bigger things. But wont it be a funny thing if it turns out the increase had been because of the promotion of its wonderful unintentional comical side here in The Magpies Nest (humblebrag, humblebrag). The Varnished Truth The Magpie had a dream .he had an exclusive interview with Jenna Cairney, in which the editor of the Daily Astonisher talked openly about a crisis she bravely battled alone, and that few knew about in the past couple of anguished weeks..
Tumblr media
Well, it really was a close run thing, a weary but still radiant Ms Cairney said, gently brushing aside a stray wisp of her golden hair, and sipping a glass of Stoneleigh chardonnay (on special at Liquorland 20% off with coupon clipped from the paper on Page 1). We have been so flat out that we didnt notice until almost too late that our stocks of adjectives and suitable verbs was about to run out. Nouns were sort of OK, they tend to speak for themselves, but, in fact, we were down to just a half dozen shockings , four incredibles and just one single devastating; wed run out of heart-breaks last week, used the very last horror yesterday, and things werent helped when some junior accidentally mixed the massives in with the mammoths. She shook her head with a knowing, wistful smile, and murmured Ah these young cubs, just wee laddies and lassies, most of them, but theyll learn, theyll learn . .. Of course, she continued, this mix-up caused big headaches when we have to start using nouns like blunder and misjudgement it is starting to look like were going to need a well, massive supply of them in coming months, she smiled. But then the worried look returned to her normally untroubled brow We had used our very last wreaking havoc two days ago. But now the train from Brisbane finally got through with fresh stores, particularly a couple of hundred courageouss, a whole carton of indominatable fighting spirits and they generously chucked in a few useful phrases like NQ breeds them tough and pioneer tradition John Andersen was particularly relieved about that last one. For a while there it looked like we were going to have to try and use a few iconics and at least a half a dozen alleged both of which we have plenty but now its seems we can avoid drastic change in style of simply letting such events speak for for themselves, and we can give these recovery stories the adjectival recognition they deserve. Readers will now no longer be denied the fully varnished truth of what has happened. After all, it is alleged we are an iconic newspaper. Quite so, mdear, quite so and The Magpie thanks you for Exclusively Revealing all this. The Pie is now a fan, and is All For You. Now For Some Unvarnished Truth From Washington No no, this isnt the Trump-bashing section thats next but this is one of the best structured and cleverly presented dissections of what ails the American body politic that you will ever hear. And the scary thing every single word is true and said in a very formal hearing session. Some deluded people have suggested Ms Ocasio-Cortes, who has definite green leanings, is the Sarah Hansen-Young of American politicians. Ha, they wish. Now Its Trumpistan Gallery Time The Trumpets long awaited State of the Union address played to a packed house during the week, with all the elected women wearing white as a silent opinion of pussy grabbing. At least they were open about it some of Trumps greatest supporters hid their allegiance, or it wouldve looked like this.

About Bloody Time No, Literally, Its ABOUT Bloody Time Well, itll add some variety to Sorry Ive got a headache. Women are going to find the latest emoji handy, for both information and as an excuse, even if it aint so.
Tumblr media
Its called the period emoji, and sure will take the guesswork out of budding relationships. It follows a joint campaign by Plan International UK and the blood service for England. Unicode has announced that a blood drop symbol will be among the new emoji released later this year to signify menstruation. The intention of the campaign is to remove the stigma and shame around menstruation. The Pie must admit he didnt realise there was stigma and shame about such an established fact of human life, except that imposed by the men of medieval religions which is all of them who think nothing of bloody mutilations, beheadings and all manner of messy bloodthirsty bastadry. How anyone ever decided to brand menstruation as unclean got it exactly back to front the monthly discharge is in fact a natural cleansing of fertile females, inconvenient though it may be some women who dont plan to have children. This news will perhaps be a boon to avoiding misunderstanding in a relationship, and banish conversations that are at cross purposes, as typified by the 50s schoolboy joke about the bloke whose girlfriend asked what they were going to do that night. He replied they could maybe go to a movie, or they could ahem, wink wink go for a walk in the park, what did she want to do? The girl looked shy, blushed, and replied Its immaterial for me. The bloke said, Ah, well, wed better go to the pictures then. .. Thats it for this week, and comments are up and running from this moment. The Pie has gathered a great deal of interesting information in the past few days, which he has filed away for future blogs, but if just want to vent a bit, feel free, the comments section is for you. Cheaper car insurance?
"Cheaper car insurance?
I'm an 18 (almost 19) year old male living in Ontario, Canada, and I'm on my parent's insurance policy.   I'm looking into buying my first car. It's not just some old beater, it's a car that I would definitely enjoy driving. It's a 1999 Chevy Cavalier with a bunch of modifications to it.    I'm worried about what I will be paying monthly in insurance. The guy I'd be buying it from told me as long as your insurance company doesn't ask for pictures of the car, in order to keep my premium low I should just lie about what's in/on the car. He said tell them you bought it for the black book price without any mods ($1200 - $2100), and state the only addition being a body kit.    MY QUESTION IS: Could I get in any trouble if they ever found out about all of the modifications to the car that I didn't list? What would happen?

Buying my first car - which one should I choose?
I am a 22-year-old female and I'm looking to buy my first car so I can commute to my new job about 25 miles away. I am looking for something: *cheap to run *cheap on insurance *cheap on road tax ****reliable**** *relatively cheap to fix if something goes wrong *second hand - no more than 5 years old *up to 4,000 *smallish/easy to park Any recommendations? I have absolutely no clue about cars so that's why I have resorted to Yahoo Questions! I am completely indifferent about the style/look of the car and I am a slow/sensible driver. I just need a little runaround to get me from A-B. Reliability is crucial to me because if I have to be left without a car for any period of time I will be unable to get to work. Any advice on the make and model of any cars I should consider would be much appreciated as I am visiting garages all week this week. Thanks!""

Am i paying too much for car insurance?
I am in my early 30s. A single male, no kids. I have a pretty much spotless driving record. The only ticket i have had in the past 10 years that i can think of off hand was for not using a turn signal, that was over a year ago. Other than that, nothing in around 10 years. No claims on my insurance in over 10 years either. I drive a 2001 Ford ZX2, its a compact car-for those not familiar with it , it would be similar to a Chevy Cavalier or Dodge Neon. Oh, im paying $700 every 6 months for full coverage car insurance through Nationwide. I have been with them ever since i started driving. This seems like alot. Is it? My friends tell me im overpaying, yet when i call around other places to get quotes i never find anything cheaper. In fact several places have told me to stay where im at. I dont have a problem paying it, but im just trying to find out if this sounds about right and fair as far as the price goes. Anyone out there a insurance agent?""

Car Insurance for Tourists?
I bought a new car in Germany. It is insured through its manufacturer. I then left Germany and went to another country to work and live. Since I wanted to keep the car, I drove it to my new home! For the first 3 months (I am told) I am still insured as a Tourist. But I wonder... Say I have an accident in this new country, we exchange insurance details, etc... Where should the other driver go to get his compensation and file his claim? Has anyone ever had an accident with, say even, a rental car from another country and found out that they live elsewhere and . . . How should one deal with this situation where there might even be language barriers between the two drivers and the forms they have to fill in? Thanks in advance

Canceled Car Insurance?

Could health insurance work if we used the free market system?
The history of Health Insurance is that employers started offering it as a benefit as a way to entice employees to work for them. Prior to the Affordable Health Care Act, the only real choice consumers had was to go with whatever their HR Director, or Benefits Director, said they could have. I've wondered for a long time, why does health insurance not work like car insurance, for example. Why not completely seperate the relationship between Health Insurance providers and Employers and let people get Insurance from whomever they choose? My friend was driving her car on a busy highway, minding her own business. Suddenly a large SUV hits her rear quarter and pushes her off the road, down a hill, and into a ditch. Do you know any life insurance companies that has all of this?
1) Has banding coverage, meaning rates are base on total coverage of the primary and the spouse. 2) Has spouse rider and child rider, so there's only one policy fee 3) Has terminal illness benefit. If you are diagnose to be terminally ill, you can use a portion of the face amount for whatever reasons. 4) Has increasing benefit rider. That means every year up to a certain time, the face amount goes up by a certain percent without having to provide proof of insurability. And the rate of the added coverage is base on the age when the policy was issued to you. 5) Disability waiver of premium. This means when you become disabled, all your premiums will be waivered and the policy will remain enforced until it matures or expires. 6) Guarantees insurability for children. That means when the child becomes an adult, he/she can get life insurance regardless of current health conditions. 7) It has AM Best Rating of A+ or better or Moody Rating of AA or better. Medical Insurance Question?!?
I'm 24, and I've been reading a lot of posts online about people who have many health ailments and do not have insurance to get treated or go to the ER then have a massive bill afterwards. I don't understand why these individuals are not hunting around for the cheapest medical insurance they can find prior. There are individual plans out there, directly through the insurance companies, also family plans. You can pick and choose your premiums/deductibles/co-pays, hunt around for what suits your needs best. The single plans especially, can be and most of the time are, affordable. I don't understand why people do not apply for basic health insurance that would cover them in an emergency, or for general routine health-care. Premiums can be as low as 60-100 a month for a single person. Please can someone explain to me why these people are not taking advantage of what is out there? Or even possibly applying for the government assistance plans if they're not employed, especially after an ER visit with no insurance? This is an honest question. Thanks""

The Top Reasons People Succeed in the best beginner keyboard Industry
Correction Appended
On an album of bittersweet childrens tracks that she wrote over ten years in the past, the girl who arrived to become recognised only since the piano Trainer presented what, in hindsight, seems like an eerie glimpse of her own long run.
Im transferring away currently to a spot so far away, wherever no one is aware my name, she wrote inside the lyrics of the track known as Relocating.
When she wrote that music, she was young and vivacious, a piano Trainer and freelance songs writer who loved Beethoven and jazz, sunsets and river Seems, long walks and every little thing about The big apple.
On a kind of beloved walks, by means of Central Park in the bright Sunlight of a June day in 1996, a homeless drifter conquer her and made an effort to rape her, leaving her clinging to daily life. Once the attack, the words to her track arrived true. She moved absent, out of Ny city, out of her old daily life, and all but her closest buddies did not know her identify. To the rest of the planet, she was -- like the much more famed jogger attacked in Central Park 7 many years before -- an nameless symbol of an city nightmare. She was the piano Instructor.
Now, on the tenth anniversary from the assault, she is celebrating what is apparently her entire recovery from Mind trauma. She's 42, married, with a small baby. She is Kyle Kevorkian McCann, the piano Instructor, and she or he desires to convey to her Tale, her way.
Her doctor informed her it would acquire 10 years to Get well, and Sunday was that talismanic anniversary. I experience my lifetime is redefined by Central Park, she stated several days in the past, her voice comfortable and hopeful. Before park; just after park. Will there ever certainly be a time when I dont Consider, Oh, This is actually the tenth anniversary, the 11th anniversary?
She spoke in her modest ranch home inside of a wooded subdivision in a Big apple suburb. She sat inside a eating place strewn with toys, surrounded by images of her cherubic, darkish-haired 2-12 months-outdated daughter. A Steinway grand filled 50 % the home, and at 1 stage she sat down and played. Her taking part in was forceful, but she seemed embarrassed to Engage in more than a few bars, and shrugged, as an alternative to answering, when requested the title of the piece. She asked that her daughter and her town not be named.
She phone calls that day, June 4, 1996, the day After i was damage.
Hers was the 1st inside of a string of assaults by the exact same person on 4 Girls in excess of 8 times. The last sufferer, Evelyn Alvarez, 65, was crushed to Demise as she opened her Park Avenue dry-cleaning shop, and ultimately, the assailant, John J. Royster, was convicted of murder and sentenced to lifetime in prison.
Still the assault within the piano teacher could be the just one men and women appear to be to keep in mind quite possibly the most. Portion of the fascination needs to do with echoes from the 1989 assault on the Central Park jogger. But Additionally, it frightened persons in a means the attack around the jogger didn't because its situations were being so mundane.
It didn't happen in a remote Portion of the park late during the night time, but in the vicinity of a well known playground at 3 while in the afternoon. It could have occurred to any individual. The tension was heightened by the mystery from the piano academics id.
For three days, as law enforcement and Health professionals tried to determine who she was, she lay in the coma in her clinic bed, nameless. Her mother and father ended up on getaway and her boyfriend, also a musician, was in Europe, on tour. Lastly, one among her pupils recognized a law enforcement sketch and was able to determine her from the healthcare facility by her fingers, because her deal with was swollen outside of recognition. The law enforcement didn't launch her title.
The last thing she remembers about June 4, 1996, is giving a lesson in her studio condominium on West 57th Street, then putting her prolonged hair in a very ponytail and likely out for just a wander. She won't don't forget the assault, Despite the fact that she has heard the accounts with the law enforcement and prosecutors.
To me its like a fact I uncovered and memorized, she reported. As though I were a college student in school studying history.
She would not think about the man who did it. I might need been offended for your instant, but not for much longer than that, she said. How could I be indignant at John Royster? He was declared not crazy, but I assume by our benchmarks he was.
Dr. Jamshid Ghajar, her physician at Big apple Hospital-Cornell Health care Center, as it was acknowledged in 1996, instructed reporters that she experienced a 10 per cent potential for survival. Medical practitioners had to remove her forehead bone, which was afterwards replaced, to make space for her swelling brain. When her mom designed a community attract pray for my daughter, hundreds did.
Immediately after eight days, she arrived away from a coma, first in a vegetative state, then in the childlike point out. As she recovered, she slept tiny and talked frequently, sometimes in gibberish. I was having mad at men and women once they didnt respond to these words, she said.
Like an Alzheimers affected person, she experienced tiny short-expression memory and would forget site visitors when they still left the room.
Above a number of months, she had to relearn the way to walk, dress, go through and write. Her boyfriend, Tony Scherr, visited each day to Enjoy guitar for her. He inspired her to Perform the piano, in opposition to the recommendation of her Actual physical therapists, who thought she could well be annoyed by her incapacity to Engage in the best way she after experienced. Mr. Scherr performed Beatles duets along with her, enjoying the left-hand part when she performed the correct.
Which was my ideal therapy, she mentioned.
In August, she moved back property to New Jersey, together with her father, an engineer, and mom, a schoolteacher. She frequented old haunts and called buddies, hoping to restore her shattered memory. I had been really obsessive about remembering, she mentioned. Any memory reduction was to me a sign of abnormality or deficit.
Her therapists imagined her progress was wonderful, but her two sisters protested that she was not the deep thinker she had been.
What bothered her most was that she experienced misplaced a chance to cry, as though a faucet within her brain had been turned off. A single evening, nine months just after she was damage, she stayed up late to watch the John Grisham Motion picture A Time for you to Eliminate. Just following her father had absent to bed, she watched a courtroom scene of Samuel Jacksons character on demo for killing two Guys who experienced raped his younger daughter.
The faucet opened, along with the tears trickled down her cheeks. I thought of my mother and father, my father, and the things they went through, she reported. Minimal by little, my sensation returned, my depth of thoughts returned.
Urged by her sisters, she went back to high school and acquired a masters degree in new music education.
youtube
Not anything went well. She and Mr. Scherr split up 5 years once the assault, however they remain pals. She dated other Males, but she always explained to them about the assault right away -- she couldn't assistance it, she claimed -- they usually in no way identified as for your 2nd date.
We have to search out you another person, her Pal David Phelps, a guitar player, reported 4 decades back, just before introducing her to Liam McCann, a computer technician and beginner drummer. For as soon as, she did not say nearly anything with regards to the attack right until she got to grasp Mr. McCann, after which you can when she did, he admired her toughness.
Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, who had typically visited her at her bedside whilst she was while in the medical center, married them in his Moments Square Workplace. She wore a blue dress and pearls. Even though she was Expecting, in a very burst of creativity, she and her friends recorded When Were Younger, an album of childrens tracks that she experienced created before the assault, including the tune Transferring. Her ex-boyfriend, Mr. Scherr, generated the CD. On it, her husband plays drums and he or she performs electrical piano.
Is her lifetime as it had been? Not exactly, however she is reluctant to attribute the discrepancies to her injuries. Her last two piano students left her, without calling to explain why, she stated. She has resumed enjoying classical new music, but basic parts, due to the fact her daughter isn't going to give her time for you to exercise. As for jazz, I dont even test, she mentioned.
Tumblr media
She would like to push a lot more, emotion stranded while in the suburbs, but she is definitely rattled. She tries to be articles with keeping dwelling and caring for her daughter.
Dr. Ghajar, a medical professor of neurological operation at what exactly is now termed NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare facility/Weill Cornell Health care Center, who operated on Ms. Kevorkian McCann following the assault, said previous week that her amount of recovery was uncommon. Shes essentially typical, he mentioned.
Other experts, who will be not personally aware of Ms. Kevorkian McCanns situation, are more cautious.
Regaining the opportunity to Perform the piano could entail an Practically mechanical process, a semiautomatic remember of just what the fingers need to do, claimed Dr. Yehuda Ben-Yishay, a professor of scientific rehabilitation medication at Big apple University School of Medication. At the time Mind-hurt, that you are generally brain-injured, For the remainder of your lifetime, Dr. Ben-Yishay said. There is absolutely no treatment, There exists only intense payment.
The more telling part of a Restoration, in his check out, is psychological, and on that score he counts Ms. Kevorkian McCanns relationship and baby as a substantial victory.
For her section, the piano Trainer is aware of she has altered, but she has designed her peace with it. I used to be type of a hyper ---- I dont know if I used to be a kind A, but I was formidable, she states. Why was I so bold? I used to be a piano Instructor. I dont really know what the ambition was about. I really did come back to the individual Im supposed to be.
Correction: June thirteen, 2006, Tuesday An write-up on Thursday about Kyle Kevorkian McCann, a piano teacher who was beaten and sexually assaulted ten years back in Central Park, misstated the title of her album of childrens tunes. It really is Whilst Ended up Youthful, not When Have been Young.

Its called the period emoji, and sure will take the guesswork out of budding relationships. It follows a joint campaign by Plan International UK and the blood service for England.
Other Unbelievable Scenes In Townsville Messagebank Curiously Examining A Strange Oblong Object So what, you say? Well, check the background bloke Could it be that Deputy DooDah Les Messagebank Walker really does check his messages and respond to the concerns of the Townsville ratepayers? Haha, just jokin. Of course he could be doing any of the following: * betting on the neddies * getting a date * ordering at the bottle-o * organising campaign donations * building an international hotel in his division * seeking positions vacant for a job when his political career is over (in March next year) * checking a bus timetable, or the latest date for the opening of the CBD bus hub. More likely just playing Candy Crush. Odds Are Jenna Cairney Will Soon Be Heading South The Magpie makes this prediction after checking the latest eye-popping readership figures for regional newspapers.
