Just for fun, here are my rapid fire rambling thoughts on the ATLA ships and platonic dynamics hehe (please don’t go full ship wars tho - these are just my opinions as a chill multishipper!)
My Favorite Ships:
• Zukka - My current brainrot and main ship!! I know they aren’t canon but I really love them and their potential okay😭I just feel like their personalities would work so well! Sokka would call Zuko on his shit and Zuko would be good at grounding Sokka when he needs it. Plus I have seen some absolutely breathtaking AUs with this ship! And fire-and-ice vibes except gay! Them <3
• Kataang - Cutiessss!! I love them! They may not be the ship I think about most often, but when I do think about them, they’re adorable! Aang is such a “my wife” guy and Katara absolutely adores him back! Also the last airbender x last southern waterbender dynamic goes HARD! I like that these two are canon!
• Yuetara - Listen I know they barely interacted but THEY’VE ACTUALLY GROWN ON ME SO MUCH LATELY AND I VERY HIGH KEY SHIP THEM! Something about like, Katara thinking about Yue when she bends is so😭Their story would be heartbreaking in the best way!! Sapphic noncanon blorbos <3
• Mailee - These two are SO cute and have so much potential rahhh!! Again, love some noncanon sapphics <3
• Batkoda - Super SUPER cute and silly and fun! The dads fr <3 Bato is either Katara and Sokka’s adopted uncle or their stepdad and I love it for them hehe! This usually pairs well with a “Hakoda adopts Zuko” AU lmao!
Other Canon/Relatively Popular Ships:
• Zutara - A pretty good ship! I see the potential and tbh it’s very very fun to think about sometimes!!! However, some of y’all toxic Zutara stans need to leave my boy Aang alone lmao. Those who are chill tho, I rock with y’all!! Overall, I’m not opposed if it’s done well and I do occasionally seek out Zutara content! I personally do prefer seeing/writing them as found siblings tho, especially with the Azula and Katara parallels!!
• Sukka - Canon cuties!! I really like them! Suki my BELOVED <3 She’s so underrated!
• Yukka - Also canon cuties! They make me sad tho ahhhhh😭😭😭
• Maiko - Also ALSO canon cuties!! They have an interesting dynamic that I can really appreciate! And gotta love Mai <3
• Jinko - Jin my beloved! These two had a super cute dynamic during the one episode they had together lmaoooo, tho I don’t think about this ship too too often.
• Tokka - I don’t mind it if it’s them getting together as adults! But tbh I personally don’t prefer shipping them as teens and I think Toph’s crush was just a typical young girl crush on someone slightly older lol. Definitely not horrible and most Tokka shippers are relatively chill! I like to think Sokka sees Toph as a little sister tho.
Now For Some Of The Crackship-y/Less Popular Ships (based on ships I’ve actually seen):
• Zukki (Zuko/Sokka/Suki) - Power throuple fr and I love some polyamory!! While I mostly lean plain Zukka, this is extremely fun to think about and would be a great dynamic!
• Mai/Ty Lee/Suki - Saw this in a Zukka fic once and it was adorableeeeee! I may not have plans to actively write this or anything, but it’s cute! Another power throuple!
• Jetko - I don’t think they would be compatible long term, but by god they are very very fun to think about in a “Jet flirts with Zuko and Zuko is completely oblivious and they share one kiss before everything goes to shit” way lmao!
• Taang - I can respect it!! I will always love them as chaos siblings personally, but it’s a totally valid and chill ship!
• Katoph - Not a bad ship at all! I’ve only come across like one post tho lmao. Also I do think I heavily prefer them as found sisters, but that’s just me personally! Again, totally a valid and chill ship!
• Azutara - I’m very neutral on this lmao. I don’t despise it at all and it could be pretty interesting?? But tbh really not something I plan to seek out.
• Azulaang - I mean?? I’m also pretty neutral on this one. Aang would be kind to her if she was trying to get help but…idk lmao.
• Tyzula - I see the potential, but I personally think Mai and Ty Lee had a healthier and more interesting and more realistic dynamic. Just my preference tho!
(I think I just want Azula to be in therapy before I reallyyyyy ship her lmao, but NOT THE KIND OF “THERAPY” SHE WAS GIVEN IN THE COMICS)
• Zukaang - I don’t love this as a ship honestly. The canon age gap as teens is sketchy for my personal taste, tho I’ve seen people ship them in “Aang was 16 when he got frozen” AUs and that’s…better and I can get behind it a little! It would be interesting! But I think Roku being Zuko’s great-grandpa just still throws me off of this ship. I don’t have any beef with the shippers tho! I’m very “live and let live” and I have seen so much worse lol.
Can’t Forget My Fav Platonic Dynamics!
• Sokka and Aang - Two found brothers who share one idiot braincell when they interact LMAO! Love them always <3
• Sokka and Katara - The siblings ever!!
• Zuko and Aang - Enemies to found brothers!! Canon besties! I love their friendship and their parallels SO MUCH!!
• Toph and Katara - Absolutely ADORABLE as found sisters!!!! Love them!
• Zuko and Katara - I really like their development in a platonic sense and I think they’re very very fun and lovely found siblings by the end!!!! Zuko is 100% the brother that just “yeah my sister can and will whoop your ass” LMAO!
• Zuko and Toph - Also very found siblings in my head!! Only have a handful of solo interactions in canon but I DON’T CARE! I WILL FOUND FAMILY THEM ANYWAY! I’m a “Toph seeks out Zuko for sibling hugs/cuddles when she’s cold because he’s basically a space heater” truther.
• Uncle Iroh and the Gaang - Zuko needs to learn to share because that is ALL OF THEIR Uncle!!!
• Hakoda and Zuko - I thrive in this section of the fandom!! They have exactly one (1) frame together in canon, but I ADORE Dadkoda adopting Zuko! Something about it is just so wholesome and cute!!! My very very fav ATLA fics are this trope!!#LetHakodaBitchSlapOzaiAndAdoptZuko2024
• Uncle Iroh and Zuko - God they make me so ALSNDKSNXNCNSNSNXNX, y’know?
• The Gaang as a whole - Obvious I know, but I really do love them😭They all bonded sm and I adore their little family!! I eat up fanart of the Gaang cuddling like CANDY omg. And yes Suki is included in the Gaang because WHY WOULDN’T SHE BE!
Anyway, thanks for coming to my TedTalk. If you made it to the end, you get a big platonic kiss on the forehead MWAH!

(2) Cute Waiter with Taang
Always love having you back for more, Comfy.😏
I really need to write more Taang. This was a lot of fun. I actually kinda want to write the continuation of this.
Just for reference, the restaurant Toph mentions, "Ping's Cuisine", is supposed to be the one Zuko and Jin went to. It doesn't have a name, so I gave it one. Sue me.
@atla-multishipping-bingo
Modern AU Bingo B3 - Cute Waiter
Aang can’t help himself. He doesn’t mean to stare, he really doesn’t, but he just…he can’t keep his eyes off her. He keeps watching the way she moves, weaving between tables and barstools and people like it was nothing. She’s solid on the ground, though, both feet - bare feet, he noticed, which is…odd - planted firmly on the stone floor.
(That was another odd thing, he thinks. Stone floors. He hasn’t seen stone floors in…a long time. Since he was a kid, really, long before he’d moved to Ba Sing Se.
No one had them anymore, hadn’t in a long time, but this bar…it was strange. He liked it, though. It was different.)
He watches as she takes another order, and she smirks, chuckling at someone’s joke. That smirk…he couldn’t stop staring at it. It’s cute, and for some reason he wants to see it as much as he can. And her eyes, brilliant green but somehow glazed over - she’s blind, he’s fairly sure, which leaves him more mystified.
How did she do it?
(She looks familiar, too. He’s not sure why, but she…he feels like he’s seen her before, somewhere, but at the same time he’s absolutely sure he’s never met her.)
“Aang, buddy, you’re gonna start drooling if you stare any longer.” Sokka’s voice breaks him from his trance, and he shakes his head.
“What? No, no I wasn’t staring!” He tries - it doesn’t work. Zuko and Sokka look at each other, and a knowing grin tugs at the corners of their lips.
“Go ask her out already,” Zuko rasps.” You’ve been staring at her the entire time we’ve been here.”
“No! That would be creepy!” he stammers, the blood rushing to his face. It’s not like it was his fault she was gorgeous! And funny, too - it might have been his imagination, but she seemed to keep coming by their table, with some joke or something funny to say, always addressing him.
It bugs him, not because he doesn’t like it, but because he wants to know, for sure, if it’s just his imagination, or if she really is coming over to his table repeatedly.
“Who’s asking who out?”
Oh, fuck.
She’s right behind him.
Sokka bursts out laughing as Aang’s cheeks heat up - he looks like a tomato right now, he’s sure. He sighs, hides his face in his hands.
(Wait, she’s blind, he’s being stupid.)
“What’s wrong? Crocokitten got your tongue!” She smirks, and damn he can’t stop staring at her, at the little twinkle in her eye and the tilt of her lips.” Or just see something you like?”
Fuck, he’s gone.
“Uh-uh nope! Nothing!” he says before he thinks, and he immediately slams his palm into his face. He pointedly ignores the sputtering laughter of his friends at their table.” Wait, no, I didn’t mean that!”
The waitress - Toph, he remembers her introducing herself as - just laughs. It’s bright, cheerful…and a little sly, too.” Don’t worry, Twinkletoes. I know what you meant.”
“You, uh…you did?” he asks.
“Sure,” she says. Toph leans over, resting her hands on the table.” Tell you what. You know where Ping’s Cuisine is? Meet me there at 7 o’clock tomorrow, and I’ll tell you all about it.”
He stares at her for a brief moment, stunned, before he shakes his head, smiles.” Ping’s at 7. I’ll be there. Can I, uh, have your number?”
She doesn’t say a word, just grins and holds out a napkin, and his heart skips a beat. Scrawled on it is a phone number, and her name. Toph Bei Fong.
Did she…make this? Just for him?
“Alright, Twinkletoes, I gotta get back to work, but I’ll see you tomorrow?” She leaves it almost as more of a question, like she’s hopeful, too.
“Definitely,” he smiles up at her, his heart thudding hard in his chest, and he can’t help but smile as she walks away, her hips swaying in time to the beat of the bar’s music.
“Did…did you just get a date?” Sokka asks slowly.
“Just like that?” Zuko adds.
“...yeah,” Aang smiles, still staring down at the napkin. He already knew he liked her - now, though, he’s practically enthralled.” Yeah, I think I did.”

Wait so who are your ATLA ships or half ships then? I thought you were Taang?
Hi, anon! It's always so weird when somebody from the ether reminds me people actually follow this blog and see things xD
The first thing I need to clarify is a little about how I ship. I have ships, which are pairings I'm all in for. I'll seek out content for them and create content, if just in my head, because I'm personally invested in their relationship. Then I have pairings I don't like at all: these I avoid to certain degrees for whatever reasons I have. But in the middle of those two points is this vast pool of pairings that I neither like nor dislike. These are the ones I'll create content for if there's a request for it, or if it fits a scenario, or if I'm just curious about stretching my writing muscles. These are also the pairings that fit as close to "multishipping" as possible: because I'm not invested in any particular direction, I find I can appreciate and enjoy one character shipped with multiple others a lot easier than if it was a ship I really cared about and felt strongly for.
That being said, the only die-hard ship I have for ATLA is Zutara. All the other ships I enjoy fall into the middle pool of murkiness, where I definitely enjoy them, but I'll find enjoyment with any well-written/well-presented relationship.
Taang is, therefore, in this middle soup. I really, really enjoy Taang, and there is some fantastic art and fic and meta out there that really makes me enjoy them as a couple a lot. But, because I really struggle romantically pairing twelve-year-olds, the Taang I really enjoy is aged up (and/or in an AU of some kind). This means that the interpretation of how they grow and mature (together) is an important part of the relationship, for me personally. And that means that they could just be absolutely best friends. My platonic-soulmate-loving side adores this just as much. And I've also really enjoyed interpretations of growth and maturity that then leads Toph to be paired with Sokka or Kanto (shoutout to those people on Tumblr who opened my eyes to Kantoph. Y'all know who you are) or nobody at all.
And that's the same for Aang. I've seen lovely fic of him with multiple people. Depending on the interpretation of Aang maturing, I've even found some Kataang fic I've enjoyed. The shock and horror. ;P
So, in summary: yes, I do ship Taang. But I also... don't? And there's just something about Ty Laang that has always intrigued me a lot. That's an essay for another post, though. I also ship Sukka, but love Yukka and Tokka (both of those slightly less than Sukka, I'll be honest, because Sukka are just a great pairing to explore in many ways.)
At the moment, my no-ships for ATLA are Azulaang, Zukka and Maiko. I say 'at the moment', because I try to keep my mind open about differing opinions. So I read meta about things I don't necessarily agree with just to get the "other side of the argument". So we'll see how my opinions change as I engage, I guess!
And, because this is already long and I'm already oversharing and potentially inviting hate for my opinions, let me come clean: my second rarepair almost-not-quite ship that I alluded to in those tags on the Ty Laang art is Zuki. Yeah, I'd betray both Sukka and Zutara in that way. Dishonour on my cow. Blame the comics: I actually made it through quite a few of them before they became Too Much for me to continue with. (In terms of bad characterisation, not in terms of the number of comics.)
There is a very, very long answer to your ask, Anon. xD

Mako is a precious bean who must be protected at all costs. And Suyin is an absolutely terrible bitch and doesn't deserve Lin as a sister. Lin's too good for her.
Hey Anon, thanks for the ask! LMAO you got me there!
I feel bad because when I first watched LOK, I kind of dismissed Mako, only because I knew the outcome of the show (I'm an avid Wiki reader that spoils most shows for myself haha). But looking back at his character and everything, he totally deserves the love and respect. Just a very family oriented guy who has lost so much... Sure, he's done some dumb stuff, but they're forgivable (if I remember LOK correctly...). But really, orphaned as a young boy, who then has to take care of his younger brother, just trying to protect the Avatar because he cares so much for her, and is pretty selfless, just a little blunt with his actions... what's not to like? Haha.
And Suyin... Oh Suyin...
I'll admit, I liked Suyin in canon when I first watched it. I had a veil over my eyes. But after thinking about the Beifong family and their rift and everything in general... I have SO many issues with it ALL. Because of that, canon Suyin is infuriating to watch.
But I do have my own version of Suyin for my Taang AU, and just in my AUs in general because the bones of her character are good, but then the whole neglected child because your mother was a shitty parent, running around with criminals, scarring your sister's face, getting away with everything, and never apologizing for anything.... HMPH! So, I fixed her for me to not hate her, and so far it's worked. However, I agree the version of Suyin we see in the show is not worthy of the gem that is Lin Beifong.
Because LIN BEIFONG IS TOO GOOD FOR EVERYONE. And you know what sucks? We're supposed to feel like she's in the wrong for different situation/scenarios, especially when it comes to the Krew's decisions, she acts as their opposite, even antagonist. AND LIKE... she just wanted to protect people she cared about and everyone took her for granted.
I'm just frustrated because there are so many things about these characters that are supposed to add depth and show all these different dimensions that make a character more human... But it just makes the water muddy and ends up making the viewing experience frustrating when you see one thing and are told another...
Anyway, all of this is to say I agree with you! There are a lot of things about LOK that I've changed to make it a better situation for the Beifongs in particular (ahem, see Kantoph AU where they're one big happy family), and so far, I'm content LOL. Thanks again for the ask, Anon! Hope you have a great day despite the salt in this post haha.

ATLA/H20 crossover OML I AM IN LOVE WITH THAT CONCEPT I’M ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED
I’m assuming Katara would have Cleo’s powers, Suki would have Emma’s powers, and Toph would have Rikki’s powers if we’re going for the personality match-up? And Azula in Charlotte’s role would be god tier. Zuko as Zane would be amazing. Zutara-Zikki would be amazing. Maybe Aang or Sokka as Lewis? You could have a Clewis-Taang or Clewis-Sukka or even Clewis-Tokka thing going on depending on which direction you wanna take it. Basically I adore this concept.
omfg yes, i'd forgotten that i was thinking about this AU until i saw you like the post but these are all SUCH good ideas
the power match-ups are about what i was thinking, and then obviously zutara would be the focus, but i kind of adore the idea of using this AU as a bit of a tokka vehicle as well--slightly more background, and slow-burn because they were always BROS and i think for toph especially it could be really rewarding to have her go through that 'i'm one of the boys... but i want him to see me as a GIRL all of a sudden and i have no idea how to handle that' thing, only to find out that sokka DOES see her that way and always has.... idk i just have a lot of THOUGHTS
besides, this would leave the door wide open to have yue there as suki's girlfriend. (i've never really gotten into yueki content but when it works it works yk)
not sure where that would leave aang, unfortunately (although him having his own arc in the background that doesn't need to have a romance could be fun). alternately, the pairings could be zutara/sukka/taang and yue could be one of the previous generation of mermaids? with maybe some moon magic fuckiness to explain her youth (and maybe play around with her being sokka's first gf and then explore azula/yue??? -eyes-), or else just have grandma yue being a badass. basically there are a lot of possibilities for this AU and i really want to explore some of them tbh, ty for reminding me sobs

I see you have met the ATLA fandom's Dear Old Friend. (I'm officially calling him that 😆) I'm surprised you found him worthy of responding to. You know, the funny thing is, I don't hate the concept of KA as friends to lovers, what I hate is the execution, that's exactly why I couldn't care less if they are in a canon romantic relationship or not. (I don't even know what canon has to do with this conversation, but cool, I guess 🤷🏾‍♀️) All characters can be shipped according to each person's choices and tastes. In fact, I have found myself seeing romantic Ka/taang and Zvkka better on my Zutara AUs because (and I know this is pretentious) I like their friendship better in those stories. It's not about forcing anything onto anyone, it's about constructing relationships between the characters and interpreting them as you want
angel! i feel you. i don't vibe completely with the dynamic of ka that we are given (like you said it's about execution), but if certain things were fixed, i'd have less of an ick towards it. i actually like katara and aang's friendship and some of their moments (like when aang encouraged her to bend the ship into the water to get away from the pirates). it's bryke's decision wrt the shift to romantic that made things very murky for me, and the little effort put into developing katara's pov. i think for me, the thing with ka is that i felt i didn't end up with a why towards the question of "why specifically they like(d)/love each other." like for aang, he pretty much is smitten by her as soon as he sees her (practically love at first sight) which can only really be based on appearance since he doesn't really know her. plus ... the absolute lack of addressing things like EIP in a mature way (bryke dropped the ball on this), and i would've respected it a lot more if aang had this realization of "okay, cool. she doesn't want to be together right now and i'm content with that." that would've given me growth and maturity and now that his feelings were out in the air, that could've been developed in the comics. but ... instead we got the finale!kiss. i have a few hcs for how i would actually like kata/ang.
i got side-tracked lol. like you said, i also don't care what's canon or not. some people treat canon as the be-all-end-all as if break-ups don't happen, or AUs can't be explored. it's that sort of rigidity in thinking patterns that makes me think that these people are really .. boring. like you said, shipping is based on what appeals to a person's tastes. and in fandom, we're all individuals, so we shouldn't be expected to just blindly like the same things just because it's canon. we all have different life experiences and that may give us a different lens into how we see a ship vs how another person does. it's why i don't consider myself really an anti of any of the ships, because i'm not going to waste time harassing the shippers about something that makes them happy just because it doesn't appeal to me. you have to be pretty miserable as a person to do something like that imo.

Update:
Tumblr media
I'M KIDDING ( >ヮ<)
Not about the reveal, but the self proclaimed "awesome". I'm just excited!
So yes, 2021 is now done and 12 Days of Rayllum is finished! As I've stated before, going forward, the next update for MBTMS won't be anytime soon for the foreseeable months.
I gather a very small percentage of my followers are actually a part of all my fandoms, but I'd still like to thank all of you who joined me for MBTMS' 12 Days of Rayllum and for earlier in Fall, Taang week! They were an absolute blast to write/prepare for! An amongst my prep for these prompt challenges, I was also prepping "Loyalty & Light".
For those who don't know what that is, here's where I somewhat explain it (there's also cover art!) but if you search for "Loyalty & Light" or "L&L" or "L&L Asks" as a tag on my blog you'll find more info. But I've been writing and prepping this fic series for over a year now!
But what else to look forward to? Well here:
Percy Jackson AU oneshot (Title: "FOMO").
Violet Evergarden, f/f, OC romance, multi-chapter story (Title: “Sincerely”).
Arcane, Silco & Jinx father-daughter canon-compliant, oneshot (Title: "Just for Display"). [✔]
The Owl House, Lealtad Noceda big sister AU, multi-chapter story (Title: “Loyalty & Light”). Chapters upload biweekly basis. [ONGOING]
As always, what's listed here is subject to change by the next fic update post! Aside from "Loyalty & Light", as that has a confirmed upload date. The PJO and Violet Evergarden fics are just fun side projects I'm casually working on at the side. So don't expect them coming anytime soon, just expect that you'll hear more about them!
EDIT: the Arcane fic just sorta came outta nowhere but in fairness, this would be my first non ship fic I've ever written so I gotta give it a shot!
Stay lovely, and stay safe y'all.
Until next post,
- Bleh

Taang would be the cutest childhood BFFs in a modern AU! Imagine Aang being new in town and obviously he’s a charismatic kid who could probably befriend anybody he wanted no problem but then he sees this snarky blind girl with no friends and he’s like “That’s her! That’s my new best friend!”
You’re absolutely right! They become That duo. The sunshine child and the doom child. He drags her around and makes friends and everyone realized Toph isn’t so bad, just rough around the edges. She’s actually real cool.
Even if they do make other friends, it’s nowhere near as close and easy as their friendship is. They just… get each other? They somehow know what the other is thinking and feeling. They’re so in tune it’s almost creepy! They’ve seen the best and worst in each other, they lived through each other’s awkward phase, they arranged their school schedules to have classes together, they always coordinated their outfits at dances but NO they were not dating! (Of course they ended up dating they were just in denial.)
They’re BFFs who do everything together. Always.

ATLA for 1, taang for 2, and Azula for 3 (if you feel like answering that much, lol. feel free to pick what you want to answer)
ATLA
Favorite character: Absolutely no secret. Obviously Aang.
Least Favorite character: I like all the characters as characters. I despise Zhao as a person. Also, the old man who ratted out Haru and whoever snitched on Katara can go die in a fire.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Taang, Sukka, Teophaang, Sokaang aaand ... Songko.
Character I find most attractive: I'm having a crisis with this one, lmao. The main characters are too young for me to find attractive, and none of the older side characters that come to mind are terribly attractive to me. Kyoshi? Yeah, I'm gonna say Kyoshi.
Character I would marry: Grown-up Aang as he exists in my head. Otherwise, maybe Hakoda. He's a good man.
Character I would be best friends with: Six-year-old me wanted to be friends with the whole Gaang, and honestly, it would probably be them? Aang is Mr "I befriend everybody", and over him, I'd get in.
A random thought: I want Katara to open a school after getting back home. She'd be good at that, I think. And it would kind of bring her full circle; from setting out to find a teacher to coming back home to teach herself.
An unpopular opinion: I'm so isolated from mainstream fandom, I'm not sure what's even popular anymore. Uh. Zuko's soulmate is neither Katara nor Sokka. Toph and Aang are soulmates, though.
My Canon OTP: Easy. Sukka.
My Non-canon OTP: Even easier. Taang.
Most Badass Character: All of them! I said this in the Encanto ask already ... Uhm ... Toph. Choosing Toph.
Most Epic Villain: Azula, I'd say. The other villains I wouldn't necessarily call "epic".
Pairing I am not a fan of: Lots of them. Gonna say Kataang in canon (adore their friendship, though), and Tyzula in fandom.
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): The main characters were all handled well, I think. Suki could've used more time, but since she originally was meant to be a one-off character, I'm fine with what we got for her. So ... Pathik. Yeah. We could've gotten so much more out of him.
Favourite Friendship: Aang and Katara. Best friends forever.
Character I most identify with: Thinking hard, probably Zuko.
Character I wish I could be: Baby Tom-Tom. Or Momo.
Azula
How I feel about this character: I like her fine. Not my favourite, not my least favourite, either.
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Maybe Katara in a Modern AU. Maizula is a good ship, too. Also, I read a fic once that had her getting together with Tom-Tom, which I guess makes my answer: Anybody, as long as you write it well.
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: I think her relationship with Zuko is rather interesting and has a lot of potential, both during the show and post-war.
My unpopular opinion about this character: God, I don't know. What are popular takes one her? I don't headcanon her as a lesbian, but then, I see Sokkla more than any other Azula ship these days, so I don't know if this is unpopular. Either way, I don't mind the headcanon, either.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Working through her trauma. Building healthier relationships. I would say reconnect with Ursa to some extent, but we got that in the comics, and I didn't like it one bit, so ... uh. Still kinda that, but not in the way we got it.
Favorite friendship for this character: Her friendship with Mai and Ty Lee is very interesting, though obviously also quite toxic. Post-canon, I think her and Sokka could be hilarious together.
My crossover ship: No crossovers! So none.
And I got Taang in a separate ask, so I'm gonna answer that there!

I know zutarians have their AUs where Zuko and Katara got together and kissed in the finale.
But I'm new to the taang fandom. Do you guys have your own balcony scene?
Because either way i d e a
~~~~
Aang was out looking at the sunset.
"Hey,twinkletoes. You okay? You left our little shindig a little early."
"Oh! Hey,Toph. Yeah. I'm fine. I've been thinking about something and just wanted some fresh air..."
"Thinking about what?"
"The war ended and we finally achieved peace throughout the nations. But we still have a lot of work to do to rebuild the world. We'll all have to go our separate ways soon...I'm worried that we all won't be able to spend time together like we use too."Aang vented.
Toph had nodded her head to show that she was listening.
"...It will suck that we won't see each other all the time,"She agreed.
"But just because we're going our separate ways for awhile doesn't mean that we'll grow apart. Distance makes the heart grow fonder and all that cheesy shit. You get it?"She assured,gently nudging him with her elbow.
Aang snickered. "I get it. Thanks,Toph." He replied,gently punched her arm.
Toph smirked. "Don't mention it. It's what friends do."She said,balling her hand into a fist.
Aang braced himself for the impact but he didn't feel the usual pain in his arm...
She surprised him with a hug instead.
"I'm not good at this whole...mushy stuff like Katara but,"She muttered then queitly sighed.
"You're a great Avatar and a even greater friend. Our friendship will last a lifetime remember? No matter how busy we are, nothing will ever change that."
Aang stared at her for a minute. His smile growing and his cheeks turning pink at the surprising tenderness of her words.
He hugged her back a little tighter.
"You're right. You're one of my very best friends and I'm always grateful that you joined us. Thank you for being a amazing friend and sifu."
Her cheeks turned the same shade as his.
"You're very welcome,Aang."She murmured with a smile.
The two of them still held each other for a long while;enjoying each other's presence and comfortable silence.
"Speaking of friends,"She began,the softness from her voice replaced with her usual teasing tone.
"I think our other ones are still making fun of Sokka's drawing of them. Wanna join in?"
Aang chuckled,linking their arms together.
"Absolutely. I'll make sure to describe it in great detail."
Toph grinned playfully.
"Hell yeah!"
Okay but now I gotta ask about the three Aang rare pairs you mentioned! Azulaang, Yuaang and Taang. (I’m not sure if Taang is a rare pair since it’s been a growing fandom but still)
Unlike your last ask, I do ship all 3 of these! Although you probably...figured that out already from my...last ask...yeah, I’ll shut up now.
Azulaang
1. I don’t really remember, exactly? I think the first piece of content I saw was this soulmark-AU fic - I think it might just be called ‘Blue’ but I can’t recall - where Azula has Aang’s arrows as soulmarks, and I haven’t read it, but the idea alone really intrigued me, and it still does. I’m fascinated by the dynamic they could have, and the potential for them both to grow and change.
2. Honestly, my favorite part of this ship is probably what turns most people off from it: their personality clash. They are complete, polar opposites in almost every way, but if they could overcome their past issues (fighting several times, Azula literally killing Aang, Azula’s actions in the comics, and so on), I get the feeling they would have a really strong bond.
3. I’m not sure if this counts as unpopular or not, but I really hate it when people use this ship as a prop-up for Azula’s redemption. I hate it when it happens with Tyzula, too. Yes, Azula absolutely needs people to support her through her redemption arc, and  Aang would be 100% in support of her every step of the way because he’s just Aang, but sticking her in a romantic relationship with him (or with anyone, really) as a major segway/prop up for redemption just...it doesn’t sit right with me.
Yuaang
1. It was a Tumblr ask, I think? Or a Tumblr post? I remember @ljf613 being involved with it, and I think you, too (one of you feel free to correct me if I’m wrong), but even though it was only like...maybe a week or two ago my memory is super fuzzy on the whole thing. Regardless of who was involved, I know it was something I saw here on Tumblr.
2. I remember that ask/post bringing up the idea of the Avatar being in love with a spirit, and honestly I think that’s just something that is...it’s super interesting, to me, and really kind of beautiful. I haven’t had a chance to really look into any content for this ship since finals are in three weeks and I’ve been a bit distracted beginning to prep for those. But, anyways, the idea of the Avatar being in love with a Spirit that just feels so incredibly right.
3. This ship seems super small? So I don’t know that if it’s possible or not. And like I said, I haven’t had a chance to really dig into content yet.
Taang
1. You know exactly how I got into this ship: you and @mycomfortblanket are entirely to blame. I still hate you both for it. But for real, it was comfy’s story ‘You’re Not Dating?’ that really dragged me in. Then you guys came up with Taangst Week, and I had already been thinking about trying my hand at writing Taang, so doing Taangst Week made sense. Then I read your fic ‘Happily Ever After?’ and yeah. Here we are. And now I’m aiming specifically to break you and comfy (and well anyone else who reads them) during Taangst Week. Because fuck it, I might as well go all out.
2. Just like with Toko, the potential of the banter is something I am absolutely in love with. Every time I read these two together, I end up laughing at something because they’re just hilarious. And, I also love the idea that Aang can help Toph be more comfortable opening up and being more affectionate. She’d obviously stay her crass gremlin self, but I feel like Aang could and would help her be more open with her emotions. And vice versa, I feel like Toph could help Aang get more in touch with his more stubborn, more crass wild side, which I feel like would be a lot of fun.
3. I...really don’t have many fully-formed opinions, yet? I like just got on board this ship, and I only talk to like 2 people who write it (you and comfy) so I don’t really know what the popular opinions are for it.
Do you have any Taang wedding hcs?
Good question! I Have thoughts of thoughts!
I actually debate ever having them officially ‘married’
Most of the time in canon verse I don’t have them getting married, at least not in the way we think of traditionally. Do they tell others they’re married? Yes it’s easier that way. Aang still takes Toph’s last name and refers to her as his wife, but if historians digged deeper at Avatar Aangs life they’d realize there was a lack of a ceremony or celebration to the public about it. Which is odd considering there probably would’ve been a huge up roar about the Avatar and a Beifong getting hitched. In fact there’s no documentation whatsoever of them being married besides letters and writings Aang made referring to Toph as his wife.
I think they’d have a small celebration/ceremony with their friends about getting ‘married’, but that’d be more for their friends. Because Spirits forbid they miss out on anything like that. In reality though they would just exchange small vows to each other privately one day. It was very intimate but very them. No big charades just Toph and Aang.
In a Modern AU I usually view it differently and do have them have a more traditional wedding. IMO I think Modern!Aang without the air nomad teachings would be more into the idea of traditional weddings than Canonverse Aang. In a modern AU I imagine absolute wild shit going down for their wedding because it’s more than just a wedding it’s a Beifong Wedding. In an effort to please her parents, I think Toph would allow them to plan their wedding (plus that means they are paying for it which being 2 broke young adults makes things way easier and they can focus on other things). However I think the extended Beifong family and friends would be a tad bit wild. Essentially the movie Crazy Rich Asians? That’s what the Beifong wedding would be like.
Because of that I 100% think Aang and Toph run off right before the wedding and have their own private cermony with just the Gaang. It’d be somewhere private outside. And they’d be on a time crunch because the ‘real’ wedding is in a few hours. But Zuko would walk Toph down the ‘aisle’, Sokka would be the man of honor, Katara being Best lady, and Suki would be the one that officiates their marriage.
Aang would be tearing up the whole time at both ceremonies. (And he knows he saw Toph letting out a tear when he gave his vows)
Their real vows were exchanged during the private cermony. Aang worked on his for months to get perfectly and Toph knew whatever she said would make him cry (accurate) and definitely winged it but it all still was very vulnerable.
During the big Beifong cermony it was Zuko who was Aang’s best man and Katara who was Toph’s maid of honor. With Sokka and Suki being a groomsman/bridesmaid. Zuko and Katara DID get emotional when they asked them.
I have more but this is getting SUPER long so imma end it here. But their wedding is fun :^)
Taang Week Day 2: Modern AU
“Thursday, never looking back,”
[ @taangweek Day 2: Modern AU
After only two weeks of spring semester, Aang is fed up and ready to drop his geology class.]
A/N: i wanna redo this and make it better and i really struggled with the world-building here ngl so I couldn’t really come up with good names for the buildings or profs.  what can you do¯\_(ツ)_/¯  Inspired by tumblr user @rllyjohnrlly’s modern au, specifically this post.
Read on AO3
***
Science, as Aang was learning, was absolutely not what he had thought it would be.  When he was still in high school, he excitedly declared a zoology major on all of his college applications, thinking he would turn his love for animals into a lifelong career.
All it took was his first college-level biology class to quickly bury that idea.  Between that and chemistry for non-majors, he felt resigned to the idea that all science classes were a bad idea for him, and that he’d better just pick the easiest one in the catalog to round out his general requirements.  Which is how he found himself enrolled in the Introduction to Geology class his freshman spring semester.  He’d learned the three types of rocks and the basics in high school, how hard could it be?
(the answer was very hard)
(but slightly less hard than biology)
After the second week of class, he sat on the floor of Katara’s dorm, textbook draped across his lap as she sat at her desk, diligently working on her homework.  She really excelled at the very classes that almost killed him and he admired that about her.
“Ugh!” Aang groaned, slamming his textbook shut and throwing his head back onto her bed.   “Katara, this is awful.”
She set her pen down and shifted in her chair to face him, the look on her face one of confusion and concern.  “What’s the matter?”
“I can’t do this!  I hate this class,” he replied, pressing his palms into his eyes.
“Aang, what are you talking about?  You can’t hate a class already, we’re only two weeks into the semester!  What could possibly be so bad about it now?” Katara asked, getting up from her chair and walking over to sit across from him.
He sighed and let his hands fall back into his lap.   He rolled his head to look at her.  “Because it’s awful!  I knew it probably wouldn’t be much fun, but I thought at least it would be pretty easy.  And it’s not!  It’s so hard and so boring and the professor is the most lame professor I have ever met.”
(she couldn’t help but smirk at that)
“Okay, well, you’re not going to find a class that’s easy, especially in your weakest subject.  It’s just not going to happen.  Maybe it’ll get more interesting after the first few chapters.  Those are always just introductory anyway, they’re way more boring than the rest of the class.” She could see he wasn’t convinced and added, “The drop period was over Friday, anyway, so if you’re going to take a withdrawal, you might as well wait until after the first test.  Maybe it won’t be as hard as you’re expecting.”
Aang sighed.  She was right.  He hated when she was right.  “Fine.  I’ll stick it out through the first test, but can we please take a study break now?”
***
Thursday morning, Aang walked into the lecture hall, trying his best not to drag his feet.  It took all of his determination that morning to make his way to class instead of staying holed up in his dorm, playing video games until he got hungry.  But he’d promised Katara and he knew he would get an earful if he broke his promise.  Maybe if he just pretended he was Katara for a period, he’d have more ease with the class.  Katara wouldn’t sit in the back, as was his first impulse, she would sit in the very first row.
He compromised and sat about four rows back.  Earbud in one ear, he set his notebook on the table and pulled out his phone, scrolling through the texts from his friends that he’d missed on his walk.  He didn’t notice when a dark-haired girl sat in the seat next to him until she tapped on his notebook.  Startled, he yanked out the earbud and looked at her.  “Um, hello?”
The girl looked at him
(he couldn’t help but notice how pale her eyes were and the weird quality to her gaze that he couldn’t pinpoint)
and said, “You normally sit all the way in the back.  What are you doing up here now?  We haven’t even had a test.  Did you get in trouble or something?”
His cheeks felt warm and he knew he was blushing.  “No, I just felt like maybe I’d learn better closer to the front.  This stuff has been kind of hard for me so far, I guess.”
The look on her face was a little unsettling, like she was staring straight through him.  She finally shrugged, turning away from him.  “What’s so hard about geology?”
“I don’t know.   I guess science classes just don’t come very easily to me.”
“Well lucky for you, geology is, like, as easy as they get,” she said.  He didn’t feel especially reassured, but smiled a little anyway.
“So what you’re saying is you’ll help me study?”  Aang asked sheepishly.
She snorted, but replied, “Maybe I will.  What’s your major, anyway?”
“Oh, um,” he stuttered, feeling the redness in his face deepening and rubbing his neck in embarrassment.  “I was a zoology major, but right now I’m undeclared.” He wanted to ask her the same question, wanted suddenly to know everything about this brazen, somewhat guarded girl who had sat next to him (and had noticed that it was not his normal seat), but was cut off by the professor calling the class’s attention to the lectern.
***
Seventy-five painstaking minutes of trying
(and failing)
to pay attention to the powerpoint in front of him instead of the dark-haired girl leaned back in the seat next to him later, the class was dismissed.  The girl had stood, grabbing her bag, and Aang panicked for a moment, trying to think of something to say.  He finally settled on asking if he could walk her to her next class.
She paused, turning her head towards him.  “Well, it’s all the way over in the Humanities building.”
“That’s okay, that’s on the way to my dorm, and I don’t have another class for an hour, anyway.” He swore he saw her smile as she rolled her eyes and said, “Fine.  You can walk with me.”
They talked the whole way there, never seeming to run out of topics.  He was disappointed at how short the walk felt, having so much more to ask her.  He’d found out she was an architecture major with a lifelong special interest in geology, lived in the freshman dorms by the Physical Sciences lecture hall, and that despite being blind, she was as in-tune with her surroundings as anyone.  It was only after they said their goodbyes that he realized he’d never learned her name.
***
Her name, as it turned out, was Toph.
Every Tuesday and Thursday over the next three weeks, they sat next to each other and Aang walked her to her next class.  He actually found motivation to study his notes for the first time, if only for the fact that the recordings she shared with him featured their conversations in the background of the lecture.
Once, he had been running late after sleeping through his alarms, and while his first impulse had been to go back to sleep and skip his first class of the day, he bolted out of bed and rushed to get dressed, worrying that someone would take his seat next to Toph.
(or worse, she wouldn’t even notice)
He nearly ran all the way across campus.  Heart pounding, he snuck through the doorway as the professor lectured on and slipped into his usual seat next to Toph.  She lifted her head; something he couldn’t quite place flashed over her face.
(relief?)
“Finally decided to show up, huh?” she whispered.
He started to explain himself, but stopped short, deciding on a better way to embarrass himself.  “Yeah.  I got caught up trying to figure out why you’re so good at this class.”
“Did you figure it out?”
“It’s because you don’t take anything for granite.”  He looked over to catch the way the corner of her lips tugged upwards through the taken-aback look on her face.
“That was awful.  Don’t do that again,” she hissed at him.
“Okay, okay,” he conceded, chuckling to himself.  “You know what I would’ve been if I hadn’t shown up today?”
“What’s that?”
“A skipping stone.”
The irritated expression she wore intensified, fending off the smile he so desperately wanted to see.  “Seriously, you have got to stop doing that.  I don’t like puns, especially when they’re that bad.”
“My sediments exactly.”  He almost expected her to hit him, but was delighted to hear a giggle escape.  A warm feeling spread through his chest and he knew then that he would spend every last moment he had for the rest of her life trying to make her laugh again.
***
“You guys!” Aang exclaimed, slamming the door to Sokka’s apartment closed a little harder than he had meant to.  He continued into the living room, all but throwing himself onto the couch next to Katara without so much as a “hello” to her, Sokka, or Suki.  “I had the most amazing date today.”
Sokka looked up from where he sat, getting his hair braided, between Suki’s legs.  “You had a date?  With who?”
“Was it that girl from your geology class?” Katara asked.
“Yes!  Her name is Toph and I finally got her number and we’ve been talking, like, non-stop,” he blurted all at once.
“Slow down!” Katara giggled.  “Are you going to tell us about the date?”
“Right, so I’ve sat next to her in geology since I’ve been wanting to do better in that class.  That’s been a bad idea as far as paying more attention, but spirits, it’s been the best.  I was almost late this morning because I slept through my alarms.”  Seeing the admonishing look on Katara’s face, he added, “I actually got up as soon as I realized and went to class, don’t worry, Momtara.  Anyway, I got to class just as the prof was starting the powerpoint, and when I first walked in, I was worried someone else might have taken the seat next to her that I’ve been sitting in, but no one had.  And she actually seemed like she was looking for me.  I mean, she can’t see, but still, when I finally got there and sat down, I swear it looked like she was happy to see me.”
Not leaving room for Sokka to make a disparaging joke, Aang recounted the jokes he’d told her,
(which he definitely stayed up several nights in a row to come up with)
how she’d acted like she’d hated them, but he’d caught her snickering a few times.
“So you asked her out after class?” Suki asked.
Aang blushed and ran a hand through his short hair.  “Not exactly.”  He held up his hands in protest of his friends’ exclamations.  “I always walk her to her next class because it’s on the way to my dorm and I always want to keep talking to her.  Well, we get all the way to the Humanities building and she looks at me and says, ‘I don’t really feel like going to this class today.’”
“She skipped class?” Suki asked with a mock-scandalous tone.  “Maybe you two are meant for each other.”
“I know!” Aang said, ignoring the jab entirely.  “And, Katara, don’t give me that look.  I would have convinced her to go to class, but the opportunity was there and I couldn’t pass up taking her to lunch.” Grinning, he told them about how Toph had loosened up while they ate, even agreeing to try his favorite vegan restaurant in the main commons, how cute she was when she smiled at him.  She had even agreed to a study date the following night.
He couldn’t wipe the smile from his face when he asked, “So would you guys be okay if she came to hang out with us this weekend?”
You have a ton of headcanons for Taang and the dunebabies - which I love - and lately you've been talking a lot about Kantoph - which I also love but kind of feel sad about and my heart JUST SHATTERED BY THE RING HC. Now onto my actual question haha: do you have any hc for Azulaang? Like how they got together, their family and friends' reaction to them dating (and let's just throw the world's reaction for good measure) and their children, and overall everything about their lives?
Hi Anon, thank you for the ask! Oh goodness I know I'm sure everyone's sick of all my headcanons haha! That's always been my favorite part about fanon, though. I just make up a little scenario and sometimes it evolves into a whole story. Those stories then have added layers for meaning and boom. Headcanon accepted in my book lol. I'm glad you like them, though, and I'm very grateful people are curious about my opinions on different ships, especially my OTP Taang. I've spent months thinking of dunebaby characterizations because I had nothing better to do, and now I can't write stories fast enough to tell you all about them, so Tumblr asks is a good route to go! :)
Also glad you like the Kantoph HC's! They are now my absolute favorite canon ship for no other reason than the AU that I've been creating LOL. But yeah the ring HC... that's a rough one. And I made it worse by writing about it. That's my b LOL. Anyway! There's a LOT we could unpack with this ask and I've rambled for too long. Let's go!
I’m thinking maybe Zuko asks if Aang will take Azula with him to help rebuild and restore some fallen EK villages. Just providing aide and things and being helpful. She’s still recovering from her breakdown and trauma, and Aang’s calm spirit will probably help her go down the right path. At first she’s not having it, she abhors all the work and help they have to do. But she finds that complaining about the work is not accomplishing anything, and she’s a woman that likes results. Aang’s company becomes less and less annoying and more endearing. They admit their feelings to each other when they were ambushed one day (that happens a bit) and one of them almost gets hurt. After, they argue and one of them silences the other by kissing them and they just…. Don’t stop LOL.
Their friends are very perplexed by the relationship. They’re worried that Azula is using him and that Aang doesn’t realize what she did to him when he was a kid, and they’re really worried this will affect Azula’s mental health recovery. But Azula and Aang know each other after years of travel and trust each other. Eventually, their friends are on board and realize that the two are good for each other, so they slowly but surely become supportive! The world finds the relationship strange, yet intriguing. The Avatar and his Enemy’s daughter together… a little poetic and the world loves to speculate that’s for sure.
Azula is a very formal woman, so they do end up married (because she asks him), and they have proper FN and AN wedding ceremonies. They have two kids, I believe I named them Seiki and Kelsang, an airbender and Firebender respectively (personalities yet to be made, but I imagine Seiki gets her matter-of -factly way of speaking from her mother).
The only nickname Azula really uses for Aang is dearest. Aang typically calls her darling, but he has a plethora of nicknames he can use for her as well.
They butt heads a lot on their different cultures, but they appreciate that the other is so passionate about their upbringing, so the argument is never long.
The family sometimes travels because of Aang’s job, but they settle in the FN so they can be close to Uncle ZuZu. And the familiarity is comforting for Azula.
Hmmm that’s all I can think of for now! Hope this answers some of your questions :) Thank you again for the question, and hope you have a nice day!
