Either way, he’s quick to figure it out and reassure you as best he can. He’s torn between feeling bad about making you cry and being happy you liked his present so much. Either way, he pulls you into a hug and rubs patterns into your back until you feel better.

You’re crying?! Ohhhh crap oh crap oh crap- he doesn’t know what to do! Was his present that bad-? Once you reassure him and tell him you love it, he relaxes a little bit but is still clearly distressed. SHADOW IS WRITTEN SO WELL IN THE MURDER OF SONIC THE HEDGEHOG!!

First of all, just him showing up to Amy’s party is a step up from his recent “I will do everything myself, I hate everyone, imma fight you” attitude that we have seen. Secondly, and idk if it was intentional, but him attending shows he cares about Amy. He’s always had a special place for her after the events of SA2, so it’s nice to see him showing up for something that maybe isn’t his style for her sake. (Parties aren’t really his thing, after all.)

SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT

It’s also really sweet of him to go through so many lengths to try and get Amy’s present. I definitely don’t think he forgot to get her a present, he genuinely just didn’t seem to know that it was a social norm to bring presents to a birthday. If he really didn’t care, he either wouldn’t have gotten her anything or he would’ve given her a rushed gift. But no, he went through a lot of effort, basically foregoing the game, just to stall Amy so he could get her a present she would enjoy.

And not just any present - he remembered her mentioning a specific band she liked and that she hadn’t seen them live. This not only suggests he listens to her and remembers what she tells him, but also implies that he has had multiple conversations with her. Clearly he must have also done some research too since he knew that the tickets were going live soon. He thought this through, even if it was a bit last minute, and did his best to get the tickets (even though he admits to not being the best with computers, which is also nice because usually Shadow just insists he’s the best at everything). I also think it was sweet that he didn’t heavily protest Amy’s suggestion to see the band together. He hesitated, but then yielded. This…for a character who recently has been written to be quite selfish.

He seemed upset that he couldn’t keep this a surprise, but he also didn’t become enraged or lash out at Tails and MC/Barry. In fact, he didn’t really lash out at anyone at any point which is refreshing, since in most Sonic media that’s his go-to emotion.

Most of his expressions throughout the game are fairly gentle in fact. Sure, he doesn’t smile, but he also isn’t actively angry. And the one expression where he does seem a bit negative just seems like his resting expression, or at absolute worse just a little annoyed. He’s very mellow throughout the game and it’s refreshing.

Even after he has finished talking to Amy, Tails and MC/Barry, he offers to stay with them and help them with the investigation. Normally in Sonic media, Shadow has no interest in helping others and only really cooperates if there’s a mutual goal/interest. And even then, he tends try to do things on his own. But in this game? He actually cooperates, and what’s more, he goes out of his way to offer his help.

So far I’ve mostly talked about his attitude towards Amy. But what’s his attitude towards Sonic? People debate back and forth on whether Shadow hates Sonic and the recent games and media have made it seem like he does hate Sonic. But in this game? I wouldn’t say so. I mean, he’s literally hanging out with him and his friends and instead of having beef with Sonic, he just focused on making Amy happy. And even when the situation gets more dire and Sonic is found to be knocked out, he doesn’t make any snarky comments or anything. In fact, he actually helps to tend to Sonic’s condition, even if it was just checking his pulse. If he rly didn’t care, he would’ve left it to everyone else.

Man, I could talk for hours about Shadow in this game. I can’t believe this April Fools prank game is actually the best characterisation for Shadow we’ve had recently. He’s not overly aggressive, he isn’t selfish, he isn’t super edgy. He is still sorta cold, but he’s not rude or mean. He’s actually really kind (in his own way), putting his needs and desires on hold to make Amy’s birthday fun and to help everyone out. I seriously hope that Shadow is written more like this in the future and not like he has been. Maybe Sega wasn’t joking about taking on board the complaints of the fandom.

Isn't ashamed of giving you his love in public but he does try to refrain himself. Key word is 'try' because once he gets a little too drunk or jealous, he's holding you like there's no tomorrow even with people around.

Also, his brothers will accuse him of favouritism to no end if he shows a little too much pda and that's always annoying.

He knows he's a bit too soft towards you and maybe he spoils you too much, but it really isn't his fault-- how could he resist? Especially when you lean into his cheek as he's holding you, when you snuggle impossibly closer to him while you're cuddling, or when you chase his lips just as the kiss ends in hope of receiving more.

His brothers are constantly teasing him about babying you-- but as much as he complains and yells, he hasn't stopped at all.

It's usually here when he tells you how much he loves you. His words are littered with small sarcastic jokes but you can feel his sincerity.

So, this MC is pretty strong as humans go. A bit above average in height, isn’t chiseled and buff like Beel but does have a lot of functional muscle strength. The sort of person who was always the one people back in the human world would call on to lift heavy things, move furniture, carry boxes, etc.

Likewise, their personality is kinda like Beel’s—in that they’re generally helpful and protective, mild mannered, about as talkative as he is. MC grew up a bit too fast though. They were too helpful, given responsibilities before they were ready, put in charge of others because they’re reliable. Their peers and adults alike would confide in them about their issues when they were still too young to handle them well, which they took with the same gentle, old-soul competence that makes it easy for people to rely on them as always.

They’re used to carrying heavy things (including people) both physically and emotionally. Good at it, too.

But then, they arrive in the Devildom and make friends with the bros, helping them like in canon as this MC would instinctively do, but also… these demons are bigger and stronger than them. As much as MC still falls into the babysitter/therapist role emotionally for them, the demons protect MC physically.

This is a huge, life affirming relief to MC! It’s so nice to have other people to take over being the protective strong one for once! It’s so nice to have help! It’s nice to feel cared for.

So, how do you think the bros would react to this MC leaning into their demons babying them? Maybe eventually getting a bit clingy with them? Mc being like, oh, you want to help me? I know it's a strange ask, but imagine this scenario: It's gotten really cold suddenly (in? On? At?) the devildom and MC notices said character has chapped lips and seems very uncomfortable with it. Mammon How could the cold affect the great Mammon so much? He simply didn't believe you at first. Fun fact, he knew damn well his lips were chapped as fuck. He just really didn't want to admit he needed the help. Simply subdue him with a kiss after putting on the chap stick and he'll be a puddle of grimm in your hands.

Leviathan <Insert MC doing the inhale "BOI" meme here> Being a shut-in means Levi doesn't exactly get out into the cold much. Therefor, he's a little more susceptible to the effects of the cold than his brothers. One trip to get a new Ruri-chan figurine and he's got chapped lips for days. Thankfully he has you to thoughtfully apply chapstick to his lips which leaves him with a persistent blush every time the two of you cross paths.

Satan Oh? It honestly hadn't crossed his mind. While he's no Asmo, Satan does take pretty good care of himself. He's actually the most lenient of the brothers in letting you help. If this were the Nightbringer universe, he's fight you a bit more. Yet the wrestle session would be a nice release for his anger, even if he couldn't go full force on you. He'd thank you by letting you put the chapstick on, blushing in denial of enjoying the attention.

Asmodeus Asmo, sweetheart, darling, you can't use lip gloss as chapstick, I'm sorry. And that'll be his excuse, mark my words! You have to explain to him that sadly, most gloss doesn't cover the chapping and he'll be more than amenable to let you put it on him. In true Asmo-chan fashion, of course he'll need to test it on you, just to be sure. A reward for helping him always look beautiful.

Beelzebub This man's gonna try to eat the chapstick, and no, you cannot convince me otherwise. You know how people see a big animal and go "if not friend, why friend shaped"? Beel, sweet himbo lad that he is will legit ask you, "if not food, why food smelling?". Did you have to reapply it multiple times because he kept licking it off? Yes. Did he complain to you every time that it didn't taste nearly as good as it smelled? Also yes. Did he learn his lesson? Nope!

Belphegor He spends ONE (1) NIGHT up in the observatory and ends up with chapped lips. It's rather annoying to him, and he genuinely doesn't hear you the first few times when you offer to put chapstick on for him. Belphie will deny it at first purely on the basis of "I'm not a little kid just because I'm the youngest". Just wait til he gets too tired to fight you on it and you'll get a mumbled little "thank you" before becoming his favorite pillow. Hope you have nothing to do for the next few hours.

Solomon Unsurprisingly enough, it wasn't the cold that got him! It was a spell gone wrong in trying to make a chapstick that would never let your lips chap again. Solomon sighs very defeatedly and sits back with a pout as he lets you put the balm on his lips. For practice purposes, he has you sit down and look over the ingredients to see where he went wrong. May or may not purposefully mess it up again to have you so close again.

Simeon You can't tell me this man wouldn't absentmindedly pick at the chapped parts of his lips. He can't be perfect forever ya'll, he's gotta be a little weird like the rest of us. (/j) You actually catch him in the act which makes Simeon fluster and admit to forgetting his chapstick in his room. His denial of attention and care for you is half-hearted and he very quickly crumbles at the chance to be so close to you. Maybe he'll have to forget his chapstick more often.

Barbatos This man is far too busy to realize his lips were chapped. It was one of those rare instances that you two crossed paths that you noticed and offered to put some on for him. In another rare instance, you notice Barbatos blush slightly because he didn't realize he'd looked so out of sorts. He had meetings with Lord Diavolo later that day as well, so yes! Please! Quickly! You make sure to add a generous amount in the hopes that it would last him through his meetings.

Diavolo His lips were chapped? Truly? It's only then that the demon lord to be realizes how absolutely flooded he'd been and that Barbatos had even told him about that earlier in the day. When you offer, Diavolo tries to politely decline, asking you not to waste what you have on him. It only takes a few minutes of remembering how busy he'll be and how this is absolutely a chance to know even a smidgen more info about you that he relents and lets you apply it gingerly to his lips.

Lowkey attracted to it. Finds himself fantasizing about you and things you could say to him.

Runs away when he hears "Thank you Darlin'!" come from your lips. Genuinely bolts. Turns around, and just books it. I can't explain to you how fast he ran.

Gets quite jealous when he hears you call someone else darlin tho, starts thinking stuff like, 'oh of course it wasn't anything specific' or 'of course they didnt mean it in.... that way'

Another boy that's intrigued. It's new to him, and he loves to be curious. Probably looks up southern customs.

He definitely researches courting customs from your area, but is disappointed when he finds out how old the traditions are, so you have absolutely no idea he's been trying to court you for months.

Doesn't mind the nickname, is also jealous though. Sometimes he has trouble understanding you through the thickness of your accent.

Beelzebub

Cocks his head at you when you first speak. Almost taken aback.

Grows on him quickly. He enjoys the nickname, and he's the least jealous of the brothers, besides maybe Asmo. He thinks it's so sweet to hear you call his brothers darlin!

First tries to get you to make human recipes the best you can, he wants to learn about your "culture" as he puts it.

Also tries to court you through customs, but he tries to make food from your home! It takes a while for him to get to this point though, and he's very bashful.

Belphegor

First hears you sass back Lucifer while he's in the attic. He likes the accent. Hates you. Chuckles a little, disappointed when Lucifer turns you away.

Probably mocks you, honestly. Mimicking your accent, poking a little fun at the way you say certain words, like 'water' and 'town'.

When you both grow closer, he hears the nickname for the first time. You can see a slight blush grow on his cheeks before he scoffs and starts to fall asleep.

Doesn't mind when you call Beel darlin, but anyone else? kind of a different story.

Probably also teases you, tickling you from behind before leaning real close and saying, "Want me to stop, darlin'?"

Okay, I'll just type out some background information for my planet idea before the actual indugence.

So as a I explained before, the people of the planets + Sun control their respective planet and keep the solar system in balance as much as possible.

Now, there is an unofficial rivalry between the rock planets and gaseous planets. The rock planets want to introduce civilization into other planets to construct more events for their history. (It's literally Earth and Mars being like yes and then poor Mercury and Venus are dragged along).

The gaseous planets don't want this at all. They want to keep the calm, stable world they have already.

Meanwhile, the Sun doesn't care as long as they're the center of the universe.

Okay, now onto more individual background information:

Mercury:

She hates everyone except Venus kind of type. Mostly because the other planets make fun of her size a lot. Venus is the only one she looks up to, and views kind of like an older sibling.

Thoughts on MC (Saturn): She thinks they're more tolerable than the others. But admits their prominent rings are really eye-catching. Finds it annoying when Venus is all pick me girl to them though.

Her thoughts and votes aren't noticed as much as the other planets when they make interplanet decisions. She's sad that they don't notice her individuality.

Venus:

True beauty queen and is very nice. But I won't lie, she likes to flirt with other planets a lot, even intergalactic ones. But if you ever need emotional support, she's there.

Thoughts on MC: Head over heels for them. Constantly flirting, and always trying to look her best in hopes they'll bat an eye for her. Will be a pick me sometimes because of them.

She doesn't agree with the whole civilization campaign that Earth and Mars have going on but prefers to avoid conflict. But also doesn't want to be targeted by humans...

Earth:

Kind of the cause of all problems for the solar system except maybe the Sun. They can be a narcissist at times but not as bad as the Sun. Earth is constantly sending out exploration journeys which the planets don't like.

Thoughts on MC: Thinks they're a fascinating planet that needs to be learned more about. They will constantly ask questions about MC, eating up any detail about their planet.

They've been conducting secret plans with Mars...

Mars:

Pretty smug and confident. Thinks he's the most attractive colour out of all the planets, but unlike Venus, doesn't flirt. Instead, he's more power-hungry. Which is why he's joined in Earth's campaign in hopes he can conquer Saturn especially.

Thoughts on MC: Although Saturn may be much bigger than him, Mars thinks they would be perfect partners. He may be small, but he can pick them up easily for sure. (Size isn't extremely important, but between the two groups there is a difference). Wouldn't you want a warmer planet snuggled into your side?

Althought genuinely thinks Earth as a friend, he hopes to leave them as soon as he gets to have Saturn by his side.

Jupiter:

BIG DADDY- /j

He's literally not that different in age from the other gaseous planets but puts himself in the role as the protector. He is the biggest one and is the most powerful of the planets other than maybe Earth's sneaky little humans.

Thoughts on MC: Finds himself liking the fact they're not that much smaller than him, but still finds them cute. If you thought he's all wholesome, you're wrong. He gets extremely possessive of them and will try to protect them from the rock planets.

Finds Neptune and Uranus annoying sometimes but kinda likes the weird family role they have built as gaseous planets.

Saturn (MC):

(Now I'm just putting this down so MC can have some defined traits. So sorry if this isn't how you act! [and to be fair, I don't act like this either]).

The mom/big sibling of the gaseous planets. They try to be positive for the other 3 considering the rivalry going on. But they don't agree with the campaign at all. They enjoy the peaceful environment they have.

Despite everybody loving their rings, can get a little self-conscious from how much they stand out.

Uranus:

Neptune's twin brother. Think of him as like an annoying middle schooler or that one cousin you absolutely want to murder. He loves annoying every planet, but especially Jupiter. Is self-conscious on his weirdness occasionally.

Thoughts on MC: Absolutely indulges in the fact MC is willing to dote on him. He will puposely mismanage his planet or get hurt in hopes they'll coddle him. Especially in front of his sister.

He works very hard trying to figure out Earth's and Mars' plans.

Neptune:

The calm one of the twins. She's quiet most of the time but will passionately throw up an argument if she thinks Earth is doing some shady shit. But mostly keeps her points to the gaseous planets. She loves talking to her fellow gaseous members.

Thoughts on MC: Thinks of them as a perfect rolemodel. She has rings too (all gaseous planets do) and wants them to be as prominent as Saturn's. She likes to talk about what they did that day or what they love to do.

Has a one-sided rivalry with Venus. Wants to become the most beautiful planet so that Saturn will see her as someone to look at.

Sun:

He is the irresponsible father who will go on vacations randomly. He will only talk with the planets if he has to prove he's better than them or wants to flirt with Saturn.

Thoughts on MC: Finds them small and cute. Thinks their rings match with his burning flames. Wishes they would stop being so fixiated on keeping peace though. What better peace is there than to chill with him?

Finds Earth to be the most annoying little brat and kind of wants to burn humanity alive.

I don't want to reveal any info of my thoughts on their yan personalities yet, but this is for some ideas on how their personalities are like.

Just so there's no confusion: MC is genderneutral for audience purposes, but Earth is in fact nonbinary. (I kind of thought that becuase they have humans living with them, they aren't contorted to one gender).

I haven't really figured out the lore yet for moons, but for now I'll say they're kind of the assistants of the planets.

Bael messaged you early in the morning. You knew he went to a club the day before. He was usually too busy to even try and start a conversation. So it surprised you when you saw a message from him that was sent 5minutes ago.

"Guess who accidentally Beelzebub's food again... It's not big like last time... Just stiff.", he says as you were yet again surprised at the situation.

"How did you accidentally eat it?", you asked, genuinely confused on how that happens.

"Another noble gave it under the guise of them saying they tried cooking... I was a taste tester. Apparently it's Beelzebub's cooking and he just lied.", he says. Not mentioning the name of the other noble. Maybe he was too busy to notice? Or maybe he kept it secret just to "save" my views about the noble? I don't think he wants me to avoid Avisos, because of people lying about Beelzebub's food.

"Are you okay?", you asked as your thoughts shifted to concern for the demon you were talking to.

"I'm okay... It's just painful in a way. It won't go down either. I've been here for a while.", he says. You saw him typing some more and he suddenly stopped. As if he was rethinking about what he typed. You waited for a while to see his next text message.

"Do you want to help me?", he asked via text. You weren't far from his place since you went to Avisos with Bathin to hang out with Stolas. You were currently in a little guest room. Maybe you should go? It sounds like an actual problem this time if he stayed there for a while... You were also tempted in what the help exactly could be.

"I'm coming over if that's alright for you?", you said as you made your way towards the door. Getting ready to go to his place. You heard your phone ping. The screen lit up, showing his message in the notification bar.

"I'll be waiting for you then."

You made your way throught the streets, towards the castle where Bael was waiting for your arrival. You heard gunshots around you. Maybe it was Stolas in one of his hissy fits again? You tried to ignore it and sped up your walk towards the castle. It's maybe hard to kill demons and angels, but you were human. You wouldn't risk staying in the spot while you heard constant bangs around you.

When you reached the castle grounds you were greeted by lesser demons that would work around the place. That's when one decided to lead you to Bael's room, on Bael's command.

You knocked on the door and heard a faint "Come in, MC."

You entered the room and saw a disheveled Bael in his room. Sitting on his bed with a tent visible in his underwear. He wasn't joking when he said he tried getting is down as you saw the multiple toys and tissues in the room.

You locked the door behind you and made your way where the demon was sitting. Before you could even make a move to help him, he pinned you to his bed. "I'm sorry, but I can't hold back too long. Let me prepare you before we start.", he said as he made his way down and started to rip your trousers and undewear away. Sucking and fingering you as he tried to refrain himself from taking you right there when he heard your moans. It was only when he made you cum a few times that he pulled away. He may be painfully hard, but he could never pass on tasting you. He pushed your knees into your chest and lined himself up. He looked down at your expression. Hello there!! My day has been splendid and I hope you're having a lovely one as well!! (I really love your art style btw!)

Fun fact about me - I am a crier. Movies, weddings, sad commercials, beautiful melodies, you name it and it's likely made me cry at some point. I personally would just be like don't worry about it, I do this all the time, just give it a minute.

However I've also had bouts of crying that were brought on by stress. Like you're just overwhelmed or there's just too much to deal with or something genuinely awful happened. So assuming it's a situation like this and not just me crying about puppies, here is my rank, from best to worst!

Barbatos: This is definitely due to my bias and what I personally would want in such moments. I think Barbatos would be the kind of person who would simply sit with you. If you wanted him to hold you, he would. If you wanted him to listen to you talk about what's bothering you, he would. He would comfort you and probably make you tea and just be present. I have a lot of really strong and swirling emotions and it really helps just to be with someone who is calm.

Simeon: He also strikes me as the one to keep his cool, stay calm, and just hold you. I think he'd be a little bit more doting than Barb - like he might fuss over you a bit. I also see him being more cuddly, like his first reaction is to hold you close and keep you there. And then his second reaction is to cook something for you lol.

Solomon: This is another one that is likely just due to my bias. Because Solomon cares a lot about MC specifically and if they came crying to him, he would alternate between wanting to comfort them and wanting to do something to stop whatever is causing them to suffer. I think Solomon might get a little solution oriented at first, asking you questions about what's going on, possibly asking if he needs to fight someone or something - but if you tell him that you just need him right then, he'll listen.

Beelzebub: Another one who will be the calming presence in the face of chaotic emotions. He would likely try to feed you, too, but aside from that, I think Beel would just listen and be present.

Asmodeus: More empathic in reaction than the others, I think Asmo wouldn't just sit there and try to comfort you. I think he'd see you crying and then start crying himself. Now he's crying with you and there's something therapeutic about crying together.

Diavolo: Kinda like Solomon in that I think he'd initially be like okay what do I need to do to fix this. He's also solution oriented right of the bat, but will listen if you say you just want him to comfort you. Then he switches to his more sympathetic side and might even shed a few tears himself.

Lucifer: Lower on the list because this man is so emotionally repressed, I don't think he'd know what to do with a crying MC. His logic would be the thing that prevails, trying to find solutions, but also knowing to just comfort you if necessary. I think he'd try but his success rate might not be great lol.

Satan: Just like you said, I think Satan would be all about finding a way to fix things. My dad is like this. Any time anyone is upset, he tries to find the best solution. And in order to find the best solution, you gotta discuss the problem. And in order to discuss the problem, you gotta maybe stop crying if you can. Like okay you are not helping lol. And I don't know if Satan would be able to fully disengage from that need to fix things. Like I appreciate it and I would go to him when I was ready to talk about solutions and such, but a lot of times the solution is just to cry it out.

Belphegor: Belphie strikes me as the type who would be like okay let's take a nap or let's distract you and worry about this later. This puts him low on my personal list because I use sleep as a way to avoid things and that's never been good. It's been a real problem for me personally. I think if you were the kind of person who would find comfort in taking a break from the feelings for a bit, then it might work better for sure.

Mammon: Mammon is also low on my list for similar reasons. I think he would try to distract you. Let's watch a movie or let's go out or something along those lines. I also think he might just straight up panic if you showed up crying. He might start crying with you too but in a I don't know what to do about this kind of way.

Leviathan: I love Levi, I really do, but he is the lowest on my list because I don't think he would be calm at all. I think he would be extremely nervous, have no idea what to do, be overly worried about you. You could convince him to calm down and just hold you, but I know I wouldn't have the mental capacity to do that if I was in that state. He would also try to distract with anime and video games and that's all well and good but only after I've cried it out lol.

I didn't include the newbies because I feel like I don't know them well enough to put them in the rank. But currently I love the idea of Thirteen being soft and sweet, the calm one that will hold you. Mephisto might be alarmed at first, but then eventually realize you need comfort, too. Raphael I dunno he kinda seems like he might go the Satan route lol.

Anyway, that's just my personal ranking! It's definitely going to be different for everyone, as you said! In the end, I think they'd all do their best to help you.

Games of the Show

In the last post I was telling you I had written the part of the story where Dawn explains the show's mechanics. The relevant thing for this post is the games and their rewards. You'll have to win games to get rewarded in the show (getting dates, choosing group activities and so on) and I also wanted those games to help you learn about the ROs lives, interests and preferences. About themselves, in short.

That means conversational games are my main focus, even if they're silly, particularly if they can be used to discover what is it that they look for in a relationship: Orange Flag, Weird Words, Hot Takes, They're a 10 but...

Oh, I really want to involve the audience in some games, too. That'd be rad. And it would be a good way to put the How the Audience Views You stat to use, too.

I'm open to suggestions, as always. The only thing I refuse to change about this game is how the relationships among characters deepen through interaction. You can sleep around if you're shallow, but if you want to romance them, or even just have a genuine friendship with them, you have to actually get to know them. Now, in a normal, day-to-day dating environment that would mean deep chats and coffee dates, which you can get in the game, anyway. But this is a dating TV show, so there should be something else to it, and I have my take on how I'd like to do that.

I was a little against games involving kissing because I'm the kind of player that chooses one RO and sticks with them as faithful as a puppy for the whole playthrough (unless they screw me over. Looking at you Threxia from Soulless). Then I realised that I have to allow people to play the field, too, so they can be good for that.

I'm not adding games like "kiss the hotest cotestant", "imitate a sex position with whoever", "give a lap dance to—". Nope. That's just... Nope. I might add some spicy games to play privately with your chosen RO later on, but as a group it just makes me cringe. A game of good ol' truth or dare, or two truths and a lie can be a fantastic way to get to know someone in a fun way, but if you write it in a super crass or childish way it's just painful to read. (watch me fail misserably for trash talking, hahaha)

Still, I did want to include those but turning them into a competition. For instance, imagine a game of Truth or Dare with scores. Like, if one dares MC to do something, the other contestants can bet on whether or not MC will do the dare or pass. If they're right they get a point. MC would only earn a point if she takes the dare and the person who issued the challenge can only earn a point if MC passes on it.

Contestants would pick easier and more relevant questions and dares if they are interested in someone, but go harder on those they don't fancy as much and try to win some points instead.

There's also follow-up scenarios with this game. Let's say someone flirty (*cough* Joanna *cough*) was into MC. Then they may be interested in asking something like"what is your favourite type of kiss?". That would be an opening for the RO give MC that kind of kiss. Or even have several ROs try out, to see who she likes better, maybe in exchange of one of your points?

There are a lot of ways to play it, but you get what I mean. You could always pass and refuse to answer the question or take the dare, of course.

This way you could both state your MCs romantic/physical predilections and also learn about the ROs'.

Damn, it's late, this got way too long and I just want to go to bed. So, to sum it up, I want conversational games, the audience involved sometimes, and you'd be rewarded for winning them.

If this is weird feel free to ignore (and this is not really an ask there is just no anonymous way to send this in) but. I literally can't imagine Devildom without IK now? Even if IK isn't there in a major way, whenever I throw OCs into the Devildom they are usually the second group of humans thrown into the exchange program (with IK and Solomon being the first group). One is most often a sorcerer in training that is more bluff than power and has no idea why he's there but self-delegated himself to protecting the second human, usually my 'considered non powered for whatever reason' human. More often they just sort of know IK exists but are too intimidated by Lucifer and Co. to try and approach. They usually live in Purgatory Hall, though Cocytus Hall is also sometimes used because of Nightbringer. My most 'infringes on IK's existence' was a time when the normal human was IK's half sister from the mom, and her relationship with IK ranged from 'IK is tolerating you' to 'IK does not understand why you are jealous of her' (the half sister also did not have a great relationship with their mom so would get jealous that IK's dad seemed to love her). I then feel a strange guilt for infringing on your idea too much so I just?? Drop this particular OC on and off? Final random ramble thought, I use the name Yuukiran a lot for the non-powered OC because it combines three MCs from various games.

your ocs sound cool too!! absolutely don't hold back on my account, keep thinking about them, keep rotating them in your mind microwave - it's the best part about creating silly little guys! the idea of ik's mother having a child again later in life (when she feels more ready to), but having the whole situation with ik and her dad sort of Haunting her through being a parent... now that's some prime impending-therapy-for-mother-issues material. i can see ik sort of half-heartedly trying to befriend her, but depending on how receptive the half-sister is she might prefer to keep her distance, especially given her own emotional baggage in regards to their mum

also i always think about this when the notion of a second exchange year comes up so i've definitely mentioned it before, but just the idea of diavolo proposing it like "the first one went so well, let's do it again, deepen our ties between realms!!" and satan stares at him like "your first ever non-magic human visitor died"

maybe another reason your sorcerer-in-training feels the need to protect the non-magic student is because they spoke to solomon and he was like "yeah the year went great, you'll make friends that'll be there for you forever! oh by the way, take care of your other human, because my one literally died and it kind of destroyed her for a bit and jsyk watching that sort of thing destroys you a little bit too. it does build character though! anyway, have fun!!!!!"

So I've spoken before about how one of (and probably the) main reasons writing Model Citizens always takes me so so long is because I have my own guilty-pleasure for making deeply branched but otherwise inconsequential conversations.

And I thought, for funsies and as a preview of the new part of the interview, I'd show you a little what I mean.

If you like to go in completely blind, then all good, it's under the read more. But I chose a part of the next update that is pretty much entirely devoid of anything plot relevant, and is one of the points that is only used for building your character, your relationship with Yolanda, and your relationship with others.

(I'm using a test file for this, so some choices you'll see, like divorcee-relevant things, are hidden because I skipped through a bunch of previous stuff to get to here.)

So as I mentioned way back before, for the next part of the update I wanted to add some questions that are otherwise inconsequential but provide you a basis to change your relationship with Yolanda so that you can get better or different responses in the more meaningful questions.

Enter the opinions questions.

But like, my brain goes, wouldn't it be fun to hide little things in here? Not even just plot things, but just little conversation branches to get to know people.

And, my brain continues, it would be far more fun if even inconsequential questions can lead to interesting conversation paths. It makes them actually worthwhile, and not just time-wasters.

So, we click on "today's fashion trends".

So of course, you click on it, you get a little stuff, but oh boy it doesn't end there. It's MC building time. How does your MC respond to this otherwise irrelevant little subject? I think it's fun to think about. Makes your character feel more alive. More involved.

Like, maybe your MC doesn't really like fashion itself, but they are the type that likes seeing other people get passionate. That's cool! I like that. I want to write that. I'll include an option for that.

And Yolanda is the type of person who also likes to see people passionate about things! So if the MC expresses that same inclination, she'll want to know more about them as well.

But, I realize, maybe the reader feels this is dragging on away from the subject at hand. Ok. I'll put in an option to go back, end the conversation here.

But otherwise-- while this MC might like hearing other people talk about it, what if they're the type to not be so honest about their own hobbies, or maybe they're concerned about their standing with Yolanda, and want to try and impress her, and think lying about their interests will do that?

Or, maybe they are really, genuinely excited to say something that they're interested in. Oh, what could an MC be interested in?

Well, I could list a bunch of things but... what if I added things that could be relevant to the conversation at hand?

For example-- what if the MC shared an interest with their Ex? Raf liked baking, so if they choose that and he was their Ex...

Or Lucy was big on being active, and if the MC liked to exercise with her...

... but Yolanda's sister also likes to knit and sew! So what if they shared a hobby with her? Yolanda would respond well to that.

So this otherwise small, inconsequential little tangent also builds a bit more character, both of the MC and, potentially, their relationship to others!

I find writing and hiding these little nuggets of world and character building a lot of fun. It's one of my favorite parts of writing interactive fiction, honestly. So I always enjoy writing these kinds of branching character dialogues.

But, of course, this isn't the only one where this kind of conversation tree is hidden. Here's the one I'm currently working on:

For an MC who has 0 interest in fashion. Not even all the options are shown here, Raf and Lucy's are both missing because, like I said, I skipped through to show this part, haha.

Anyway, I find this fun, and I find the idea of it branching in these small ways a lot of fun too. It takes a damn long time to write through all the scenarios, but it's what I love about this format of writing.

Okay so get ready. This will be long.

1. How did I not know about you.. it's a honest to God sin.

2. I love your writing but above that I love your humor. From opening up the demo your personality kinda shown through and thank u for that cookie btw. Was delicious!!

3. Back to the writing Jesus.. how much writing you actually had to do. It was a huge demo. And that prologue setting the scene was very cool.

4. I love the dynamics in the MCs royal family. A dutiful MC yes stuck with responsibility as the crown heir while their siblings play yet still miss them. I like how you can be a very sweet older sibling and how for once the parents actually care. A king and queen that love their kids and although they have a house to represent still actually engage with their kids and not just ask them to put on a mask for the nobles. I love how different our siblings are. The Littlest one made me laugh lol

(Now I will say I didn't pass that damn speech Stat check and I have no clue how to. I tried everything so sorry insight there would be lovely)

I appreciated how a knowledgeable MC actually was useful and not just a smartass lording their intelligence over others. And how you can half pass the other stats lol

That whole festival/ball was a whole thing. And long with actual conversations with everyone I honestly can't wait to have those types of long conversations with the ROs when they show up.

What else was there... I also must admit I did miss a bit maybe during the leading up to the festival. Just because of the wall to wall text. I lack the ability to pay attention for tht long without engagement unfortunately so that could just Be a me thing 🤣 I hope you don't take that the wrong way.

But overall I think this is such a wonderful story. I have absolutely no fuckng clue where you are going with this and that's what intrigues me. And ooof I can't wait to meet the ROs. 😏😍
