so obv water dragons are prob immune to it just by virtue of being water flight (at least to a point) but otherwise like. do dragons get nitrogen narcosis. do they need to do decompression stops. not every dragon must be built for every environment and deep water is such an extreme one that like. are they also bound to the higher zones of the water

Did you hear about a clip of bones floating around? Someone said it was a persons spine but I cannot find it 😓
noo I did not! tbh I dont know too much information about it bc I haven't been on socials too much
but if it imploded would there be bones like that floating around? I feel like there wouldn't be bones like that around

Sorry. The submarine-like contraption used by the doomed let's-go-see-the-Titanic expedition was made of drainpipe? That Iron Lung sarcophagus of a vessel, which needs to descend about two and a half miles below the uncaring ocean, is made of drainpipe? Whatever happened to that thing is going to make the Byford Dolphin Accident look like a papercut, good god.

Hello, I read Exordia and the Baru Cormorant series because of you. I would like financial compensation as I now have Many Thoughts and am sad.
Just kidding they're great and everyone should go read them. Exordia did make me cry a lot though.
I went to one of Seth Dickinson's book signings, and in the q&a somebody asked him who would win: the Hive from Destiny or Exordia from Exordia. Instead of answering, he just gave a lengthy, gruesome explanation of the Byford Dolphin diving bell explosive decompression accident and then moved on to the next question.

VTM Character Concepts I am Compelled to Share Because My Brain Won’t Stop
Hey all! I’m back in my VTM bullshit with more character concepts. Apologies if this is a bit more curt/shorter than usual; I’m cranking this out on my work break 😅. But anyway, here ya go! TW for Thalassophobia and implied animal death.
1. A Lasombra saturation diver. If you don’t know what that is, just know that it involves going to the very deepest and pitch dark parts of the ocean. Probably the closest to the abyss on earth. And for Cain’s sake PLEASE don’t look into the Byford Dolphin Accident (which will probably come up if you look up saturation diving) if you are squeamish!
2. A Banu Haquim erotic dancer who uses their unnatural grace to their advantage. The Toreador aren’t the only ones with celerity or sex appeal, and the club serves as a wonderful place to mete out justice to handsy assholes while gathering intel.
3. A Malkavian with synesthesia so intense it’s borderline overwhelming. Oddly enough, the colors, sights and sounds they receive actually tend to be useful as they hint at the true nature of things.
4. A guide of a ghost tour that is known for producing paranormal encounters. Of course, since the guide is a Hecata, ghostly happenings are par for the course.
5. A Gangrel pet groomer who’s had to skip multiple towns after feeding on Fido a LITTLE too enthusiastically.
Hope you enjoy!

back in high school it was a funny prank on the level of blue waffle to tell someone there was a “previously-thought-to-be-mythical pygmy dolphin called the byford dolphin and that they just got photos of it and you should totally Google it” and that was my first introduction to 1) unfiltered gore on the internet and 2) the horrors of deep sea accidents

cw discussion of death from an industrial accident
google bard doesn't save your chatlogs so I can't show the full thing, but it ended up saying something really bizarre when I asked it about the byford dolphin disaster
This is so weird! it makes no sense as a thing to say! That's not resilience! but when i asked it about that it doubled down
Like it seems to be trying to argue that dying is a defense mechanism, and it kept saying things to that effect when i asked it more
i wonder how it even ended up doing this. I have to imagine a combination of
1. Trying to give a "balanced" take on anything you ask it about, even if that means putting a nonsensical positive spin at the end of a description of an industrial disaster
2. not being able to tell that what it said is pragmatically bizarre, so when asked it comes up with something that justifies why what it said makes sense.
