me: oh, i’ve got it!
me: *crochets the same exact baby blanket just in a different stitch*

Made a blankie with the 'blanket stitch' and although it's not really my fav looking, it will be great for a lil babby, it'll be even nicer and softer after I wash it with my baby-friendly softener 🥰
I think the border is really cute so far as well, might weave some white ribbon thru it after it's built up a lil bit more, or maybe do a pink accent?? idk, it's all learning, I'll try a c2c blanket next I think

There was a sale of Bernat Baby Blanket yarn in the Dappled ombres so I bought 3 skeins of 4 colors and the last skein of the blue. The aqua blanket is a diagonal granny stitch, the pink is the classic granny stitch, the yellow is a C2C (corner-to-corner) stitch, and the purple is a simple V stitch. They all have a single crochet stitch in however many rows needed to get the blankets to a similar size. The void photo-bombing is my youngest boy, Wilson. The blue blanket is in the Alpine stitch, which I love love love! Especially in the fluffy blanket, chenille, and velvet yarns. The duck I made with leftover purple yarn to test out a newly bought pattern for a commission from my husband's coworker. I'm planning to make more coordinating ducks for the other 3 blankets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I finished this blanket during a weekend trip up to NY with a side trip to CT with my mother to visit family. We drove, so I had a lot of time on my hands to work on this. I included a close up of the yarn so you can see the colors better. My mom so loved the yarn too, I gave her the reminder of the last skein. She's got plans now. The yarn, which is acrylic medium weight, has been in my hoard since A.C. Moore closed. I'm trying to use up some yarn before buying any more.

I have another one almost done in blue, aqua, and lime green also Bernat Baby Blanket yarn. It's not done yet since I need to sew another liner in the shape of a ball and stuff it with polyfil to make it machine washer friendly. The pattern is from Moogly's squish line and can be found on her blog and YouTube channel.
Give me a sec and I'll share photos of the two projects on my hook currently. I just learned there's a 10 image limit per post.😆
holy fucking hell babe. All of these are so goddamn gorgeous and the octopus?? to die for. seriously never let anyone tell you that you're not making art cause goddamn

Re: the crafting asks, 1, 3, and 9? 😄
Hiiiii!! Thank you for asking!! ^_^
1. do you knit, crochet, macramé, sew, etc?
So, I mainly crochet and spin, knit (a little), have cross stitched (might again ((there‘s one project in the back of my mind for friends that I shall get into at some point)) ), darn and mend (a little), and lately the nålbinding bug has got me so that‘s what‘s mostly on the front of my mind.
3. when did you begin crafting?
When I was a kid, my one grandma always had these coloured cross stitch cardboards to fill with stitchcrosses ready at hand, and i did those. Around 2011(-ish?) I got back into cross stitch, and even made a bunch of patterns for myself to stitch.
I learned how to make friendship bracelets in a summer camp as a mid-90s teenager and this had its own intense spiral back in the days xD
As a twenty-something my other grandma taught me knitting basics.
But it wasn‘t until summer 2013 that things got more intense again and I taught myself how to crochet when i was pregananant with Kid 1.
Spinning joined the club around 2021, I think?
And 2024, after ca. 5 years of occasionally trying with a lot of question marks, nålbinding finally began to make sense.
9. what are you working on right now?
Okay, so.
There are WIPs in my closet i haven‘t touched in years. We‘re not talking about them rn, okay?! Here are the projects that I have worked on here and there in the last 2 months:
the baby blanket for my nephew (who will turn 3 this year 🤣🙈) - C2C crochet (which proves once more that the more I have to count, the lower is the probability of finishing a project.. o_O)
Tumblr media
* the dragon‘s tail scarf I started last January as a "keep my hands busy during lectures/VCs" - crochet
Tumblr media
the Harlekin Shawl i started 2 years ago - crochet
Tumblr media
a bottle cozy for Kid 1 - nålbinding, Korgen stitch
Tumblr media
this cowl/neck and shoulder warmer in Finnish 2+3 F2
Tumblr media
What I desperately WANT to start on is a nålbinding book cozy for the Lord of the Rings hardcover book i recently splurged on!
Yeah, so that's it so far ^_^
Thank you for making me ramble a little and letting me share 😁💕

Got a new set of circular knitting needles today. Wanted to test one of them out. So I cast on a C2C knit, cause those always grow so fast on needles! But here is the thing… I make baby blankets. It’s just what I do. So what skein if yarn do I pull out for this test drive of knitting needles? The most ridiculous to wash yarn, that’s what. Specially for a baby blanket. But I have no interest in making anything else… so… let’s see how this hand wash only, lay flat to dry, ball of softness holds up!
(This will definitely end up being like a decorative baby blanket. The kind you include in pictures, not the kind you actually use for a baby…)

I'm about 98% done with a baby blanket for my cousin and his wife, who just welcomed their first baby earlier this week.
I just need to sew in the ends and give it a good wash and block and it'll be ready to go.
Tumblr media
Just a basic C2C pattern of rainbow stripes alternating with a variegated gray, and then a border of single crochet around of every color. It's about 28 inches square. Perfect size for a car seat blankie.

How many projects do you typically keep going at once? Today I am actively working on 4, and it is modification central over here. Project no. 1 is my Tern Tunic Dress from @madebyhaileybaileybackup which I am modifying to be seamless, both because I hate sewing seams if I can find a way around it, and because on my last frogging I realized it would be both easier to test the fit and make more sense since I am going to be color blocking to use what I have of this yarn, which is in three different colors. Project no. 2 is a second Lachlann Baby Set, so far the bottom of the jacket which I have modified to also be seamless, by @jen_hagan_design in pink and the 12 month size on commission (meaning it gets extra attention during the day). Project no. 3 is a C2C blanket I started yesterday on a whim when I went to @michaelsstores to use a rewards voucher. Loving the colors, already regretting all the ends I’ve given myself to weave. And project no. 4 is some small drawstring bags that are going much faster than all the other projects. That video is the first step in making the drawstring portion. [Image Description: 4 slides, each showing 1 of the projects mentioned. Slide 1- A long strip of dark teal crochet lays on a light blue desk with a silver and purple crochet hook. Slide 2- A long strip of pink and white cabled knitting lays on a light blue desk. Slide 3- A corner of a corner to corner crochet blanket in neon blue and green lays on a couch with many yarn ends hanging from it all over. Slide 4- Video of a strip of black fabric which has been folded in half being sewn on a sewing machine.] #Crochet #Knitting #MadeByHaileyBaileyMAL #TernTunicDress #JenHaganDesigns #LachlannBabySet #C2CCrochetBlanket #MadeWithMichaels #Sewing #FiberArtist #CommissionsOpen #EtsySeller https://www.instagram.com/p/CqG-paHP9Os/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

10 Free Crochet Snowflake Patterns
The patterns of crochet snowflakes delight the imagination, and they are such a magical motif. Every individual is different from the others; they are just like the fingerprint of nature. When you follow a crochet pattern, the snowflake you try to make might look like others. That does not make them less delightful, as you will see when you peruse these designs. This roundup includes various crochet snowflake design patterns for simple motifs. You can add them to other projects, string them into garlands, add them to gift bags, or also use them as ornaments. In addition to particular snowflake motifs, we have included a few accessory patterns that consolidate snowflakes into their design.

Granny Snowflake Crochet Pattern in the Frame

This pattern also shows you exactly how to stitch it into the middle of a 4″ ring. This uplift the design and makes it into chic decor.
Crochet Snowflake-free Pattern
This free snowflake pattern is based on the hexagon shape. Although it’s not a granny hexagon, it allows you to learn a new method to build that crochet motif. Once you have the elemental hexagon, you will easily keep adding to it to make the spiked edges of a six-sided snowflake.
Thread Crochet Snowflake-free Pattern
Thread crochet makes some lacy snowflakes that look like doilies inspire them. On the designer’s Ravelry page, you will see that this is one of three free snowflake patterns of crochet. Beaded Crochet Snowflake Pattern
This beaded pattern of crochet snowflakes is one in a set of three. The small version is easy enough for beginners, and it’s made with single crochet stitches. The medium and large sizes are more challenging than other sizes. Also, this pattern comes with detailed instructions to add beads or to crystalize the yarn. From this one, you can learn a lot of things about how to crochet a snowflake.
Crochet Snowflake Square Free Pattern
This is a textural crochet snowflake motif worked in a square shape. This design lets you easily mix and match it with other squares to create beautiful shawls, scarves, and Afghans. Also, this pattern relies on post-stitches to make the design. Plus, to classic post stitches, you will also learn some new techniques.
Crochet Snowflake Afghan Pattern
This is a corner-to-corner crochet afghan. If you have yet to learn that procedure, it’s the best one for working blankets and one worth learning. The trick here is to use strategic, smart color changes to create the snowflake pattern. Also, this pattern shows you how to do that. After making it, you can also frame this and make a wonderful snowflake wall art.
Crochet Snowflake Scarf with Pockets
This c2c crochet technique can be used to make scarves patterns, which is something you can learn from this pattern. This scarf crochet pattern stands out above the pack because it consolidates pockets into the design. The pockets are embellished with snowflakes. Also, this is the ultimate wintry accessory to keep you cute and warm.
Crochet Snowflake Shawl Pattern
Snowflakes can be such an elegant motif for winter accessories. As we can see with this shawl pattern, this shawl uses bold colors to put a twist on the classic design of snowflake.
