TTTE AU: Cockade the Actor

Recently, I’ve been playing around with an au!Diesel 10 that fits into a more RWS-type world. Known as D810, or Cockade, he isn’t villainous or bigoted against steam engines. This is in part because he noticed a growing disdain for diesel-hydraulics such as him, thus realizing he wasn’t in too dissimilar of a boat.

Where most of his class didn’t survive, Cockade did. He was a warm, affable engine who endeared himself to many people. He was also something many of his siblings weren’t: a minor celebrity.

Ever since a background appearance in a local commercial, Cockade wanted to be an actor. He pushed to appear in more commercials, instructional tapes, and TV episodes B.R. used to drum up good PR. These amounted to only several seconds of screen time apiece, but he loved it. He loved becoming a character, embodying part of a story. He thought it could help him work toward the silver screen.

And eagle-eyed rail fans recognized him in all his roles. He developed a small following that advocated on his behalf, working to get him — and at his urging, as many of his siblings as possible — preserved.

He never lost his passion for acting, nor his dream of a “big break.” So when the producers of a project called Thomas & The Magic Railroad came knocking, he all but threw himself at them.

His heritage railway loaned him out to the producers, who gave him his character’s — Diesel 10’s — livery and excavator claw. His enthusiasm and flair for dramatics proved infectious on set. He had only one serious hiccup: he tried method acting.

He didn’t mean any harm by it. He only wanted to try out a new technique; he wanted his first ever film performance to be his best and most convincing. But for all his good intentions, acting like his villainous character 24/7 got on everyone’s nerves.

Thomas, playing himself in the film, got fed up. “Do you want to ‘method act’ some bent buffers, too? I can help you with that.”

Cockade stared at him. “What?”

“The script calls for it, doesn’t it?”

“But that’s — oh. Ohhh.”

It was the wake-up call Cockade needed. Embarrassed, he apologized for his behavior and saved his acting for the cameras.

While still somewhat miffed at first, Thomas softened after Cockade helped him through some stage fright without any judgement. Cockade respected Thomas’ tenacity and sense of responsibility in turn. The two had a similar sense of humor, making each other laugh between takes and teasing the others.

He and Thomas also became close to Sarah, a recent custom-built engine cast as Lady. She gave as good as she got with their teasing, while also becoming interested in the technical aspects of film production and writing. Her perspective on something in the script was always fresh and helpful (even if it was critical).

The engines playing Splatter and Dodge — who didn’t have names of their own, and liked their characters’ names enough to adopt them — came out of their shells at everyone’s encouragement. They loved to ad-lib scenes with Cockade, and they contemplated going into improv comedy once their work was done with TATMR.

A good time was had by all. Cockade felt very satisfied with himself and the overall production, delighting in having so many new friends and connections in show business.

And then the film bombed at the box office.

These days, Cockade says it was a valuable lesson: there’s a lot of moving parts to a film production, and nothing can be perfect. You can only do your best with the part you have. What matters is that you had fun and you gained more experience.

It took him some time to absorb this lesson, though. He wondered if he could’ve done something more, if he could’ve helped. He feared this was the end of his career.

“I’ve been working towards this my entire life,” he said late one night. “I had plan, a vision, of my career. This was my chance at the big time. And now that I’ve had a taste of it, it’s all up in smoke.”

Sarah nudged him. “You read the books, yeah? Look at how many times Mr. Number One over there messed up. He’s still doing alright.”

Thomas only rolled his eyes a little. “My foul-ups did me a world of good, actually. I wouldn’t be famous if those stories didn’t get out.”

“Besides, so what if that’s it for your career or whatever?” Splatter asked. “You’ve been at the bottom.”

“S’not so bad down there. You’ll have us, for one,” Dodge said, grinning. “And if you went up that incline before, you can do it again.”

“…I can,” Cockade said after a pause. “Thanks to all of you.”

In the end, lots of people still liked his performance as Diesel 10. At his request, his heritage railway put him back into D10’s livery for “Day Out With Thomas” events. He auditioned and got to act in other, smaller productions. While typecast as a villain for some time, he considered that a small price to keep doing what he loved.

He still visits Sodor every now and then, both as himself and as Diesel 10. Thomas is always happy to see him. They often chat about how Sarah’s doing as a railway consultant in television writing. Other times, they listen together to Splatter & Dodge’s latest improv comedy podcast released online.

Cockade’s big break didn’t go as he imagined it, but that’s alright. He doesn’t need the glitz and glamour of Hollywood anymore to have a fulfilling career. To him, the fulfillment comes from the wonderful people he meets along the way.

“And failure is never forever,” he tells people, smiling. “It’s always an opportunity — if you let it be one.”

Some people think Gordon is younger because Scotsman calls him “little brother”. I know the dialogue between the two brothers can be misleading to some new TTTE fans, but Gordon is actually older than the Flying Scotsman, because he is a LNER class A1 Pacific and Scotsman is a LNER class A3 Pacific.

Here is the story of the Doncaster brothers in my AU.

The beginning of the two brothers isn’t trouble free. Gordon was a prototype built beside LNER class A1/1 Great Northern and constantly being harassed and threatened to be scrapped by younger siblings, due to prototypes are considered “defective”. As time went on, he acknowledged that taking the matter to his fists and buffers was the only way to deal with his brattish younger siblings, he knew that he could rely on no one but himself.

When Scotsman was built, Gordon saw the fact that Scotsman is being looked down on by the other siblings as well. Before Scotman had made his name by becoming the first official steam locomotive to reach a speed of 100 mph, Gordon had taken care of Scotty and changed his way of doing things – from using violence to solve his own problems … to solving both of their problems. Eventually that proved to be effective ... for some reason.

As time elapsed,  Scotsman became more and more famous, Gordon still loved him with all his heart and cherished his achievements, but at the same time he can’t help feeling jealous and pitying himself for not achieving anything like Scotsman did. After Scotsman got the Flying Scotsman Express service he had a major esteem boost and flaunted about it in front of Gordon. Little did he know that it was rubbing salt in the wound because Gordon had been neglected by their designer for years and never been put into service on the mainland. It was the final straw that broke Gordon’s defence against his unsatisfaction of Scotsman’s pride and they had an argument because of it. After the unhappy incident, they did not talk to each other for a week, until Sir Nigel Gresley informed Scotsman one day that Gordon was purchased by the North Western Railway, and before he went away, he left Scotsman an apology note for snapping at him. Knowing this, Scotsman regretted that he never apologized or said goodbye to Gordon, but he was too late.

The two brothers did not meet each other again until the day that Gordon heard the tragic news that all his siblings had been scrapped on the mainland. Despite never liked some of his siblings, he felt sympathetic for them, since they had looked up to him at one point. Scotsman visited Gordon to give him a bit of comfort and of course, apologized for the fight they had years ago (...and you know the rest *wink wink*)

Welp, not everything can be sorted out in one day. Some toxic elements in their relationship still last … you know, Brothers will be Brothers.

Headcanons:

Proud, arrogant, boastful and strong. But he's secretly a softie and is extremely to his friends. Over time, his soft side really began to show.

Loves pulling the Express and being competitive.

His human age is 47 while his actual age is 102.

He is an Asexual Gay man.

Kinda hates to admit his mistakes but he's working on being more humble.

Since Edward is a lot more chaotic in this AU, Gordon is really the only one keeping the Steam Team together.

Jesus Christ, how many siblings did Gordon used to have?!?!

Gordon was very close with Pretty Polly and Scotsman when he was young and so hearing about all of his siblings die except for Scotsman was very heartbreaking.

"I am an Express Engine, I don't go slow!"

Scot likes to call Gordon "Little brother" just to piss him off because Gordon is actually Scotsman's older brother.

Has a massive crush on BoCo and they managed to become fiancés. Unfortunately, that also means he has to take care of the bastards-I mean bees.

Loves classical music and plays the piano. Is a God at it.

Likes anything that tastes like blueberry.

Is the tallest in the Steam Team.

When he came to Sodor, he was quiet since he had a speech impediment, was very shy, curious and liked to stay out of trouble. And like he said, he also used to be green. Redward was the complete opposite, leading to some really funny interactions with the two.

Knows ASL because he used it as a way of communicating when he was green.

Toby is his best friend and they're always seen together. They're so close to each other that they both became each other's wingman when they went out to their first date with their partners.

Will kill and die for his adopted daughter, Emily.

He is Henry's half-brother.

An massive Ace Attorney fan. Has played all of the games and watched the animated series. His favorite character is probably Miles Edgeworth.

Does not know the meaning of "casual wear" He will show up on a date WEARING A FANCY ASS SUIT.

🚂Introductory Post!🚂

Greetings TTTE fandom! You may have seen me around as @electricfied-wolf, but from now on, all of my TTTE related posting/reblogs will be directed here! This is a sideblog, my main account is @itsorcatime, and here's some information about me!

First and foremost, I am a minor (Above 14) so if interacting with someone under 18 makes you uncomfortable, feel free to steer clear of me. I won't take it personally! Boundaries are important after all.

You can call me Wolf! My pronouns are they/them and she/her, but I heavily prefer they/them.

I am fairly new to TTTE, trying to watch it all but my mixed up self has decided I'm just going to watch the episodes in no particular order, so I might get things mixed up here and there. My favorite character atm is Hiro! (If that wasn't obvious enough already lol)

I am not an overtly negative or toxic person. I tend to see the good in a lot of things that most do not, everything can have potential if you dig deep enough. I also believe that people should be allowed to like what they like without people hijacking their posts just to tell them that their interest sucks. That being said-

I am a genuine fan of All Engines Go and will not tolerate hateful behavior about it on my blog. You are allowed to have your own opinions about it and are allowed to hate it, but when you enter my personal space and converse with me, you need to at least keep that hatred to yourself. When you go onto the blog of someone who enjoys something you don't just to tell them how much you hate the thing they love, you're just being an asshole. You have your own blog for a reason, post about how much you dislike it there.

Any queerphobia of any kind is also not tolerated on my blog. If you do not accept trans people/aces or aros, and so on and so forth, just block me so that we never have to see each other.

My hyperfixations switch on a dime at times, I am very heavily obsessed with trains and all media containing them at the moment, but I have no idea how long this interest will last. If I post less or not at all, I'm probably just moving onto another interest! But for now the trains are here to stay.

Tags for my ttte AUs!

Life On Sodor- A model/cgi series au which combines the two a bit more seamlessly (and includes the magic railroad!) as well as expands upon the characters and includes ships I am partial to as well as relationship hcs I enjoy. Basically a canon divergent au, or in other words:

Children of Sodor- An All Engines Go au that's similar to LOS, but has a little bit more of Mystery as to where the kids came from and if there will ever be more. Explores the idea of the AEG kiddos being the first machine children to exist, lots of cute family dynamics but definitely also includes some angsty content bc I'm a sucker for tragedy.

On The Horizon- A crossover between TTTE (specifically my own version so ig it's more of a crossover using Life On Sodor) and The Owl House. Luz, King, Hunter, and Willow are all transported to Sodor when they're all very young and end up being raised there, unaware of their birthplaces (except Hunter that is) and just having a good time. Meanwhile, Eda has been in turmoil over her adopted son having disappeared, she has an alliance with Raine and Darius in which they are attempting to dismantle the coven system. Eda wants the emperor dead, convinced that he has King.

Beasts of Sodor- Lady the magical steam engine is infected suddenly by a strange sickness that causes her to take on a beastly form. It's untraceable in origin, but she manages to spread it to Gordon and Diesel 10...and slowly, through various (not always intentional) ways, the disease begins to affect all locomotives.

Mattel decided to write him out of the show despite him being the first of Rev. Awdry's Characters

At one point some of the writers thought about writing ove lr his character and replacing him with a pink or blue engine named alice. so that was close call number one. edwards exploit was said to be bad representation of everything edwards character amounted to be. In all engines go edward only ever appears alongside henry (who also doesn't have a voice actor or referred to with his name) edward has no voice actor and thimas refers to him as ""that engine"". like what the frick frack. in bwba edward leaves tidmouth sheds ""temporarily"" because james crashed through it. in the end when the shed is fixed philip persuads him to stay in wellsworth with him, edward is removed from the main storyline (along with henry) and replaced with two new female engines. that's some toxic feminism right there. in the merchandise side of things a lot of edward toys have also been discontinued. his master tack toy was discontinued. his magnet toy was discontinued. and there is only one version of his mini left. his pocket engine was also discontinued. edward is slowly being erased from the franchise and it is so very berry sad because in actuality he's one of the best fucking characters.

The series basically erased him from the main team and replaced him with a female engine so the company that owns the show can say ""Hey look, we have female engines so we have female representation in our show. Now buy toys of these new engines"". They got rid of the first engine that made this show possible with a bland engine with no personality. Then they canceled the show the same season as his removal so removing him was pointless.

Propaganda:

Edward is just an old fella who wants to help everyone. He was first engine to ever be made by the creator of the series. He is fan favorite and many people were angry at his removal.

tbh a lot of the main steam team was massacred. a lot of character in ttte in general were massacred! every character in the show should be on the roster lmfao.

21+ roleplayer here

I am a 2002 baby, 2000s baby and kid, and a 2010s kid. During the early 2000s, I fell in love with a series called Thomas the Tank Engine. When I watched "Hero of  the Rails", I feel in love with the cgi version. Today, I still have a love for the TTTE series.

I am seeking people who would be interested in doing a TTTE roleplay. As I will only be roleplaying as human OC (who is not part of universe), you are welcome to roleplay any and all canon characters. 

I would love to explore the interactions and relationships between the humans and trains and other sentient vehicles more. 

Roleplaying

I can do semi, literate, and novella. Though I make an effort to do novella more.

Correct punctuation, grammar, and spelling are important. If you are in need of help of one more of these things, I will assist you.

 I require communication, and would like to have (a) partner(s) that truly engage and share in the creation of roleplay. Some to fangirl/fan boy/fan with, talk about  aesthetics/pinboards, have detailed roleplay planning and world building, analysis, and more.

fuck you to all the people who say "but he doesn't look diseased"

because I don't look diseased either. that's the fucking beauty of invisible illness, and to say someone can't be diseased just because they don't look like they are is fucked up.

because you know what? Henry's story is very relatable to me, with the way my invisible illness is affecting my life, and then I see people say "but he doesn't look diseased" "it's just a dietary requirement", and it fucking stings. Welsh coal is essentially medicine; because he wasn't allergic to normal coal or anything; he could use it. He just suffered for it because it wasn't enough. It wasn't enough to keep him moving properly, and others around him failed to understand it. He needed the Welsh coal the same way I need my meds for my body to process food and make sure I get protein/energy/everything that comes from food, because for me eating is not enough, even if I don't have any allergies. At the height of the illness, before I got meds, I struggled moving too, because I had literally no "fuel". And people told me to just exercise more (TTTE fans, does that not sound familiar?).

So yeah, tell me again how he isn't diseased because he doesn't look like he is.

and to the "But trains can't be diseased" people; it's a fucking fictional character. a lot of other competitors species don't even fucking exist, so they too wouldn't be able to be diseased in the real world. But Henry is a damn good allegory for invisible illness/disability so don't you fucking disrespect him.

also, grow the fuck up, and focus on cheering for your damn characters in the reblogs instead of putting down us and our character, because it really says a lot more about you and them than us and Henry.

(and if you need to put him down so much to elevate your characters, then maybe that really aren't so superior, just a thought)

The year seemed to fly past them, it didn’t really feel like a whole 2 years passed by. There was a brief period where the railway temporarily closed due to the virus and all of them had to stay in the sheds for a long while.

But that didn’t matter right now, it was back to work and much to their delight, trips to the mainland would at least be semi-frequent this time around and everything was (mostly) back to normal.

the holiday season was nearing and someone had the suggestion of hanging lights on the engines like they do in heritage railways for the night.

“The lights should be the same Splendid red as i am!” James bragged as the workmen started getting the string lights.

“James i don’t think red is such a nice colour when you put it on lights.” Emily mentioned

but besides that they were all excited for the festivities to come this month, though there were some that who questioned this light show business.

“Why the lights?” asked Henry as they started attaching the blue and pink string lights.

“Because it’s the holiday Henry! Some of the heritage railways and even ones outside Britain are doing it and since we’re getting into the holiday i thought it’d be nice for us to get in on it as well.” the workmen stated.

Henry didn’t question further.

and then he Did question further since the crew decided to put the string lights while he was pulling the kipper.

For special crimble (as Scotsman tends to call Christmas/the holidays and he doesn’t know why) trains he can understand the putting on little glowy decorations, but for regular freight duty? How and Why does he need to put light up decorations while on Freight duty?

“I can’t believe they’d let me wear these silly lights while pulling the Kipper!” Henry complained to the No. 2 blue engine.

“Well i think you look very pretty with them.” Edward commented with a smile.

"Thank you but i'm not sure if i like them." Henry huffed, his cheeks tinted red.

"It'll only be for a night or so Henry." Edward tried to reassure.

but Henry didn't really think so.

The first trip with having lights tied to him went smoothly at first. He was rather miffed about the fact that there had to be lights stringed to the Kipper freight.

some of the Sprinters had called him a Christmas Tree and to some degree he agreed.

Well even if he IS an engine who likes trees he doesn't Literally want to be a tree!

"You look ready for a rave party Henry!" laughed Juniper, aka LMS Stanier 45305.

"Shut it Juniper." Henry snapped, but the class 5 simply smirked as she steamed away.

Many people and rail enthusiasts had their phones at the ready and their cameras on their tripods for taking pictures.

Specifically, any headcanons of the Sodor Engines interacting with the internet, or the internet in general?

For some reason, I’d imagine that podcasts and the like are popular among vehicles in general.

That is a question that I've been working on for some time - because I'm workshopping my own Tornado headcanon (and boy oh boy does she use the internet a lot) - but I have some ideas for the Sodor engines as well: 

Henry is probably the most "plugged in" engine on the island, weirdly enough. One of his drivers gave him an iPod back in the early 2000s, and kindly preloaded it with a bunch of torrented music.

 BTW, that works because all the engines are now equipped with automatic train warning systems, and the little on-board computer has a USB port - as a nice side effect it allows music players to work with the engines in the same way as bone-conducting headphones do. The computer also acts as some kind of computer interface, which I am not going to explain how that works because Jesus Christ I don’t know how it does either.  

 Henry has managed to upgrade his iPod a few times since thanks to hand-me-down units from NWR staff, so he eventually got his buffers on a wifi-enabled iPod Touch and now downloads new music from the station wifi. He does listen to podcasts, but as every other engine will tell you, you could show Henry ten thousand new and exciting songs from the best artists in the world, and his top ten played songs are still going to be Genesis, Phil Collins, and Yes. Bear considers it a win that he managed to convince Henry to regularly listen to Rush after a mere twenty years of convincing. 

 Mavis and Daisy listen to a very interesting program called The News, because as stated elsewhere, they invest a shitload of money and need to be on top of things. Thomas and Percy wish that Daisy would use headphones or something similar to that, instead of listening to Bloomberg TV at loud volumes in the middle of the night. Toby frankly doesn’t mind, as it’s very nice to be kept up-to-date on the outside world.  

In a move that surprises no-one, Bill and Ben have a podcast where they talk about whatever they think about at that moment - usually horse-racing, investing, and clay mining. As such, they have a wide audience, almost none of whom know that they’re that Bill and Ben, as their podcast is audio-only.  

 In an also unsurprising move, Edward and BoCo have been made very much aware that Bill and Ben have a podcast, but are still unsure as to what the hell a podcast is, despite being frequent guests on it.  

Of the main line diesels, only Bear has shown any real interest in the internet, and was immediately put in charge of the Amazon Alexa when a unit was installed in the diesel shed. He also has an iPod that he got for Christmas a few years back. (The NWR has a very good personal  electronics recycling program called give it to Henry, he’ll make use it.)  

Bear does listen to podcasts as well as music, but his choices are so insufferably boring that even Henry refuses to listen to them. (I don’t really listen to podcasts - despite making one - so insert the most boring podcast you can think of here.) 

 As for other internet uses... 

Gordon is very up-to-date on the newest social media trends - somehow - but only really cares when he is involved. He won’t admit it, but he’s been trying to figure out how to work a camera/selfie stick for some time so he can start up his own Instagram account. So far he has been unsuccessful, but one day he will manage it. 

 James has had an ongoing feud with his own Wikipedia page for about a decade now. The article sourced most of its information about his construction off of some out-of-print book about the L&Y. The book in question is accurate about James’ class, but not James himself - as he was a prototype engine. There’s no other primary sources available, so the very dedicated Wikipedia mod who created the page won’t change it - no matter how much James complains that he was there! He knows what happened! 

Every now and again a TTTE fan blog/tumblr will make a post about hypothetical “ships” of the Sodor engines. Most of the time it’s shipping the core characters like Gordon and Henry, much to Gordon’s bafflement and Henry’s amusement! 

Only one blog (a ttte fan tumblr by the curious name of @mean-scarlet-deceiver  ) has gotten it right. Henry actually reached out to congratulate this blogger, but was unfortunately mistaken for a very dedicated roleplay account.  

James is very annoyed by these blogs, as they have never once correctly guessed who he is “shipped” with! He has tried several times to be seen in public with Delta, but these events have never gone as planned - the “best” instance is when Edward rolled by at exactly the wrong moment, leading to months of speculation that JamesxEdward was the ship to look out for! 

Thomas, being a generally oblivious sort of engine, was totally unaware of the online fan community around the TV show until he started getting actively harassed by vloggers and Instagrammers in the early 2010s. He’s fine with it now, but it was a deeply unusual experience for most of 2012.  

Toby has developed an unexpectedly popular following on social media following his collab with Stormzy. His official twitter is huge now, with over a million followers, even if he has no idea what to do with it. He posts rarely, but usually manages to make an incredible post when he does.

No-one is sure who told Oliver what a “fan-production” is, but if you manage to get ahold of him for any period of time and ask him nicely, he will lend his voice to your TTTE fan-project, so long as it isn’t about [INSERT TERRIBLE SOCIAL/POLITICAL VIEW(S) HERE]. This means that he has 100% voiced dramatic readings of NSFW Fanfics before, which is always an absolute riot to spring on people unannounced.

There is a series of slice-of-life TTTE fanfics on Ao3 that have been written with such accuracy and innate railway knowledge that people are sure it was written by a Sodor engine, but nobody knows which one.

The Culdee Fell Railway has very active Instagram, Twitter and YouTube accounts, with all of the engines and coaches showing up regularly. It’s about the closest any of the railways on Sodor have come to what those outside the UK would call “normal locomotive social media”.

The Skarloey Railway has social media accounts too, but they don’t really feature the engines in any meaningful way, instead being used as a normal service announcements page.  

 The SR is a real working railway that doesn’t rely on tourism money as much as the others do, so they get a bit of a pass here.  

 The Arlesdale Railway has Twitter and YouTube, which didn’t usually get a lot of hits until 2020, when Ivan and Amanda Farrier started badgering the staff to make some videos just to alleviate some boredom. So far the most popular videos on the channel are a front-mounted camera video of the entire line slow-tv style, Bert explaining how steam engines work, and a video of Mike complaining about Justin Bieber for a solid half-hour.  

 That’s about it as far as Sodor goes, but before we’re done, I want to take a moment to talk about Tornado, because I have some fun ideas for her... 

First of all, we need to establish that Tornado is very young. Her construction only started in late 90′s, and she was steamed to life in 2000, putting her firmly into the “Zoomer” category. Add in the fact that she was built by a bunch of old men who didn’t really know how to treat a new engine, and she was raised much more like a human than a locomotive - I’ll get to this much more in the proper Tornado Headcanon post, but what this means here is that when social media started being a thing in the mid-to-late 2000′s, the people at the A1 Trust decided that they needed a young person to run things like Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace... and, well, Tornado was the youngest person in the trust by a large margin.

I should state here that in the rest of the world, locomotives are on the internet at roughly the same level as humans are, so there’s plenty of equipment to connect a phone/computer/camera to an engine - being English, the A1 Trust didn’t know how common it was, but they managed to get it up and running just the same.

 So Tornado has very quickly become attuned to the internet, just like any other teenager would. (yes, let’s let that settle into our minds for a moment - Tornado is barely old enough to drink in the US!) Quite naturally that means that she knows social media inside and out, and is actually quite a proficient social media manager for the trust, managing all of their social pages. More than one person who has complained about the trust on twitter has unknowingly been complaining to Tornado herself! 

 “On the internet, nobody knows that you’re a dog Engine”. 

 Tornado has her own personal social media accounts too, but most/all of the time she gets mistaken for a very dedicated role-player, as the general perception of British Locomotives is that they don’t tweet. This has resulted in some amazing reactions from podcast hosts (because, as you might expect, Tornado is very knowledgeable about steam traction in the 21st century, and tweets about it often, so train podcasts want to talk to her) when she gets invited onto video calls, turns on her webcam, and is met with screams from people who suddenly realize that her profile picture is accurate.  

 By far the best instance of this is when she was invited onto a video call with a railfan podcast. She was at the NRM at the time and managed to convince them to let her use their Skype setup. A wide-angle lens was needed because she was on the turntable in the Great Hall, so that podcast quickly got sidetracked when her webcam was turned on and revealed Tornado, with Mallard, Evening Star, City of Truro, and Green Arrow visible behind her. Whatever the original topic was quickly got thrown out in favor of a 2-hour Q&A with some of the most famous engines in the UK.

Okie Okie Sorry About that I got really Excited there, Because my other art and post either got little likes + Reblogs or Noun of them stuff, And This? I didn't really expect to get this much likes and some reblogs on my Mavis x Rosie Art ;;v;;.

I'm a user who post a lot of My Art for the most part, sometimes shitpost and Personal stuff(Not all, Since I rather not reveal most of them and Will for the most part, keep things a Secret. I'm very protective towards my Life and History, So NEVER EVER! ask me questions such as my age, my real name, or even asking me to do a face reveal -.-, So Please Don't  ask me those type of personal questions~). As of Recently I've been getting a Tons of likes, Some Reblogs, on my Recent Art and Honestly I can't Thank you all enough. Like I said from the started I haven't get too much likes on any post form my other stuff for a very long time. Before I made this account I was once formerly using keixblade, Reason why I didn't uses Account anymore because I felt like I need a new Fresh Start of my blog and Things have been changing over the Years so That's why I decided to make a new blog and you know after making a new blog I've been starting to post again, such as my previous art, older post, welcoming myself, and I started to finally reblog for the first time which I haven't done in my old previous account. After that, I checked out my favorite artist, have plans to follow them soon. I don't usually post at the weeks but I'll definitely try my best to post my stuff at the weekends, You know Saturday, Sunday, But Sometimes Friday, I might be able to sometime post on the week of I had the free time to do so.

Story Time~! Before I made this Account and During Late March 2021, when I started to have some interest in TTTE for the first time, I looked up at some websites to research on the series and watched abit of Episodes about it(Thanks to Steve' Reviews Tugs, Thomas for PS1(Highly Recommend you all check it out if you had the JP PlayStation or an Emulator ;), and a Fan Animation That I won't tell because I'll talk about this in the Future, it's that one Fan Animation that I'll give a review on soon it's a pretty controversial one 😅 Yeah you know Exactly Why I'm Talking about, So DON'T Bash on me for this) So far It's Interesting, For the most part I Mostly got some Thomas info from the Wiki, Reddit, and Tumblr as well. When I did got to Tumblr, I check out some of the TTTE Art Most of them that I came across from my experience are really good :) But out of all the artist in the site? One Actually caught my interest and decided to check their blog out, their art is Beautiful and how amazing their Humanized Version of TTTE style is. And that blog I'm talking about is none other than @asktrio516, I always looked up to them, so much so that this was before when I started to come back to tumblr to started fresh. This blog gave me so much nostalgic feelings for some reason, not because of Thomas But Because of the human Version of these Characters, In Fact? This isn't my First Time That I look up to an artist for their art and for their humanized version form Another Show I'll take about soon(I Even alot of Fanart of this person's Human Version of these Characters, Again will make a separate post about it). So 2 months after Getting into Thomas for real, I saw the asktrio516 blog posting the Official Ships in their blog, Obviously I was very Excited when I saw it and In Fact? I Actually Loved Most of these Pairing that is Featured in this posted(Stay Tuned for the next post ;))). After reading the post, I saw one Pairing that Interested me and it was Mavis × Rosie, I always have this feeling that ngl? I always see them being together and wish they can have some Screen Time Together(Yes I know What's Going on but we don't Talk about that Disaster...yet....😤.....Damnit just God Damn You Mattle). So For A while? I've actually been planning on making an Mavis and Rosie Drawing in Emma's TTTE Human Designs. So it only took a quite for a while to get there, Reason I didn't do this sooner because of work, I had to help with my Friend, and I was very nervous yet shy at doing Mavis and Rosie being together at first. Thankfully with enough confidences and encouragement? In August, I ask the asktrio516 admin on Instagram if I can Asked something on tumblr, Fortunately they respond with yes(Honestly I was so Happy About It 😁) so at the same month, That's where I officially got my new Tumblr Account since I felt like my old Account is a bit dated and This is where I also have the confidence to ask the asktrio516 admin if I can draw Mavis with Rosie being together(Since Again they mentioned of having interested of doing this ship) and That's how the story goes c:.

Thomas In Name Only

Okay, you know how I posted a thing yesterday talking about “Season 25″ of TTTE?

It got worse.

Is everyone cool now? Good. Let’s talk about this. Even if you don’t want to read the rant under the handy “Keep Reading,” please reblog this post and share this article with every fan of the show you are in contact with. With what was revealed, it is almost guaranteed that Thomas will not see 100 if something doesn’t change for the better and soon.

Apologies for the length of the following rant, but I think this all needs to be addressed. If you make it through, I encourage you to reblog and add anything I missed. From what I’ve seen, the man who spoke doesn’t know anything about Thomas or what makes it tick.

To set the stage, this was a conference call arranged to talk about the new series. This was in the form of an interview with a Mr. Campbell Bryer, who will be one of the show’s directors on Nelvana’s side. While we did not get any new visuals, we got a mountain of information. And, once I read through it, I was glad we didn’t get any visuals.

First off, let’s make the tone of the show clear. This is a reboot, plain and simple. The stories will be more about the engines playing than doing their jobs. There will be little to no railway realism whatsoever, even less than the recent seasons have been showing. From what I am understanding, the engines will have little to no responsibilities and will be free to do whatever they choose.

I also want to mention how much of the heritage they are intentionally stripping away. As we all know, Sodor is located off the coast of England, Barrow-in-Furness specifically. However, in this new iteration of the show, Sodor’s location will not be mentioned, and characters who speak will likely not have an English accent. This is a grave insult to the history of this series, which started in England. EVERYTHING about Sodor and its history has been incorporated into British history. Even the name “Sodor” comes from a British bishop!

Not only does this remove the history, but it also cuts off an essential aspect of the engines themselves. A lot of the original and most popular engines are BRITISH locomotives. As an example, Gordon is an A0, the prototype to the A 1/3. His only surviving sibling, Flying Scotsman, was the first engine recorded at 100 mph. To strip the island’s location is to deny the heritage of the characters we know and love.

While we’re on the subject of characters, the line up of characters is looking likely to change. The article mentions that we are likely to see more focus on the childlike characters, like Thomas and Percy, and even less focus than currently on older, more mature engines. Who does this rule out? I can think of three engines on the standard gauge lines right now.

Edward - Edward is the classic example of the mentor character. In most of the stories and episodes he is featured in, he approaches things with a level head and a fair bit of logic. He will likely completely disappear.

Duck - Duck typically thinks things through logically, like Edward, though he gets into more scrapes than the blue tender engine. It’s safe to say that Duck will be relegated to cameo appearances if he doesn’t disappear altogether.

Henry - Henry’s been on thin ice for a while now. While he’s not typically portrayed as wise, he could be considered the more level headed of the Tender Trio of Henry, Gordon, and James. With this, Henry has a real chance of never being seen again.

With this revelation, I have to wonder about the Skarloey Railway’s fate, where many of the engines are more on the mature side. I have a feeling that any railway that is not standard gauge will also disappear.

This brings us to another aspect of Sundrian life. What about the humans? The short answer is that they will become nonexistent. To start, the engines will be moving without any assistance of crews. This completely removes an aspect that has been seen throughout the show’s run, even if the existence of an engine’s crew was downplayed in certain eras. In general, humans will not have a forward role, meaning we also lose out on essential functions such as stationmaster, guard, and signalman.

The only exception is, of course, Sir Topham Hatt. As we currently know him, he is the leader of the railway and a father figure to the engines on Sodor, doling out praise and punishment as needed. However, in this new series, Sir Topham Hatt is relegated to the role of a joke, despite supposedly still being in charge. The article describes him as “really flustered and all over the place,” nothing like what we would expect.

With the mature engines leaving and Sir Topham Hatt reduced to an idiot, who will take charge of the engines and fill in a father figure’s role? Well, that would fall to Gordon, of course!

No, I’m serious. Stop laughing.

Gordon will be the father figure the other engines look up to. Gordon, the bully. Gordon, the snob. Gordon, the engine with one of the shortest fuses. Gordon, the engine that refuses to do work outside of what he prefers. Gordon, the engine who is known to harass engines (namely Henry) who are having problems. Gordon, an engine who is not known for being a role model, will be the father figure in this reboot.

One of the most significant causes of controversy in the latest few seasons of the show was the engines’ movement. While this was disorienting, the article promises that it will look tame compared to the reboot. We have been promised that not only will the engines twist and move similar to how they currently do, but those movements will be even more exaggerated than before. The engines will also be able to jump. Yes, you heard that right. Ant this is not described as small hops, no. The article mentions explicitly the engines turning while jumping. The only minuscule relief is the promise that the engines will not “use [their] wheels as hands.”

While those are the primary concerns, there’s more stake here. To start, this reboot will not have a narrator. Thomas’s stories began as bedtime stories to children and have had a storyteller in some shape or form throughout the show’s run. The series will also lean heavily on action and fun to convey stories, instead of the more action-and-consequence type of storytelling we see in the Railway Series and early seasons.

Probably the thing that is the most unforgivable to me is that they think this monstrosity will appeal to a “broader audience.” They say this as if older fans of the show haven’t been telling them for years what has or hasn’t been working well. We have posted and shared our concerns and they have either tossed them aside or did not take them into serious consideration. This is the worst I have ever seen Thomas, and this is saying something, considering the engines bouncing in the last couple of seasons made me feel PHYSICALLY ILL.

We can’t let this continue. If you have any method of contacting Mattel, utilize it. If you know someone who works at Mattel or Nelvana who might have any say in this, talk to them. Don’t directly attack, but bring up your concerns in a calm, rational manner and be willing to listen. If this new format does make it to air, don’t watch it, don’t buy any merchandise, and don’t go to Day Out With Thomas so Mattel can see just how much we are displeased with them. If this is the end for Thomas and the North Western Railway, we can at least say that we did just about everything we could.

And not only are we losing a beloved franchise, but we may also lose rail travel as we know it. I can’t speak for everyone, but I can easily look back and say that Thomas was my gateway into a lifelong love of rail transportation, especially steam engines. A lot of heritage railways rely on the Day Out With Thomas events to bring in visitors. If this franchise fails, they will eventually lose out on a significant amount of revenue. This will likely significantly hurt them and, while railways like Strasburg in Pennsylvania might be able to handle it, others may be forced to close down.

All I can say now is that it saddens me to see what has happened to the show that started a lifelong love of rail travel. I have to wonder what the Awdrys and Britt Alcroft have to say about this...

2019 Review / 2020 Plans

2019 was ... interesting, to say the least. I started getting into Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds and firmly established my favourite character from that series to be Jack Atlas, which also led to my favourite rarepair Coatshipping becoming a thing for me. I finally finished a series of pics (this is HUGE for me!) and started up yet more AUs.

Let’s go over things in a more simplified way:

January / February Got into 5Ds. Jack Atlas became my fav 5Ds character. Coatshipping, along with other 5Ds pairings, were added to my fav ship list. Finished Let’s Go Eevee, with that team being added to my list of gijinkas to design.

May Finished the series of pics with YGO characters and Spyro 1 Flight levels.

June Switched fandoms from Yu-Gi-Oh to Thomas the Tank Engine. The break from Yu-Gi-Oh was very much needed at the time as I’d hit an artblock. Started revealing more of my TTTE in University idea.

September Fell in love with the Empress from A Hat in Time. Like, I really really love her. 

October Switched back from TTTE to Yu-Gi-Oh. Took on a YGO version of Inktober called ‘Yugiotober’, created by @theyuugimutou​, and finished every prompt. It was a lot of fun, and I drew a lot of new characters! Spent the weekend (and Kaiba’s birthday) in London for the first time whilst attending Comic Con. I have a recap of what happened somewhere on my blog ... I think the Always AU started coming into fruition during this month.

November Bought and completed Pokémon Shield, adding yet another team to the list to gijinkify. Oleana became best girl. I’m not kidding. I freakin’ love every aspect about her. Also subtly defended Inteleon’s honour from haters of its design. I’m proud of this, OK?

December Third ‘Pridecember’ challenge accepted and completed. I won’t stop loving this pair! A YGO/Pokémon AU became a possibility, particularly due to my White 2 Yugi file, me finding my beloved Gigantamax Duraludon in-game and @lokziiviingaal​‘s lovely artwork featuring Dimensional Variants!

Plans for 2020? I’ve actually already covered them in this journal entry on deviantArt. I’ll link it here to repeat posting that lengthy journal all over again.

To summarise it, expect gijinkas of all my ‘mons, more YGO art and the start of my original series! Also expect a little bit less fan-art as I try to tone it down in order to focus more on my original series.
