─── 𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐔𝐄 .
# with roronoa zoro.
roronoa zoro had a bounty of over one billion berries for his head — and prided himself in it. particularly, out of all of his crimes, you thought that his most heinous one yet had been to dress himself that fine while you were not around to see it.
⎰ & suggestive. mdni. thirsting over wano!zoro. reunion after whole cake. implied fem!reader. no y/n used. i need this man carnally. no spoilers!
W.C: 1.7K
Tumblr media
the whole cake island incident had taken less than a week to be solved, and yet, it felt as though you had spent an entire decade and more into that miserable and forsaken place. upon approaching the location where the rest of your crew was stationed at — with your stupid swordsman you so yearned to reunite with — you foolishly believed that the coast was clear.
one single hour with him was all you hoped for. hell, ten minutes would have been enough for the time being. but as so it seemed, fate was a sadistic worm that threw battle after battle onto your lap, against foes stronger than you would have wished for, and whose mere existence was enough to divide the crew for yet longer periods of time.
glimpses of him were what you had been offered amidst that never-ending nightmare, and seas be merciful, wasn’t he a luxury meal course.
you had been praying to whoever listened for a mere opportunity to get that man alone, and at last, the deity of couple-who-spent-two-years-apart-and-now-can’t-keep-it-together-for-more-than-a-week — or something like that — was merciful enough to grant you that desperate wish.
zoro had snatched you by the waist once the opportunity seemed fit enough, and that monument of a man dug his calloused fingers so deep into your figure that it threatened to leave bruises longer-lasting than the ones you received at whole cake. his lips brushed near your earlobe, before traveling lower; chests pressed against one another as he whispered lustful-filled promises amidst small confessions of how much he had missed you.
and oh, hell knew those words were more than reciprocal. unfortunately, your tongue seemed to weigh more than a hundred sea kings as your fingers gripped the hems of his kimono, lips half-parted while your eyes drowned in the sight of him.
at your lack of action, zoro froze. he was an experienced man — so long as the subject involved alcohol or sword-fighting or your detailed schedule. the love matter? he was as proficient in it as he was in differentiating north from south. zoro moved his face from where it was buried in your neck, a tinge of uncertainty shown in his glance.
the silence lingered as zoro’s face scrunched in concentration, gears turning inside his head as the poor and clueless man attempted to understand whatever thought was going through in yours.
“if you want to speak about what happened during the time we were apart—” he began, seemingly planning on taking a step back and further from your body.
you tugged at the kimono and pressed him to your figure, a lonesome finger trailing down the bare skin of his chest, losing itself under the fabric of his clothing. you felt him shudder due to your touch, though your mouth remained sealed and you were sure your eyes were as wide as the four seas. zoro’s own hands were hesitant. there he was — the terrifyingly strong swordsman, the one who’d be the strongest, the one whose name was uttered in fear — completely vulnerable at the palm of your hand.
you wanted to swallow him whole.
“do i need to kill—” he spoke again, and you shushed the attempt yet again. as much as you valued his immediate instinct to eliminate whoever had dared to bring you pain, that was anything but the time for such declarations.
zoro’s grip regained its usual strength as he became more impatient, his words coming out with an edge as sharp as the swords sheathed and carried at his hip. “what is it, woman?!”
“was this given to you?”
he blinked, dumbfounded. “huh?”
“the kimono, zoro. was this given or borrowed?”
the swordsman rolled his eye as he, once again, pressed your chest flush against his, returning his ministrations to your neck once he was sure that nothing was amiss.
“why does it matter?” he rasped against your sensible skin.
as much as you wished to surrender entirely to that sinful mouth, a glimpse of the dark green of the cape he wore made you push his shoulders. your eyes were transfixed, unable to tear themselves from his appearance.
“of course it matters! i need to know whether or not i’ll need to bother stealing them once we leave this place,” you answered, eyes so focused in his chest you failed to notice the darkening of his glance.
zoro’s usual attires consisted of overused pants, the green haramaki that was close to infusing itself with his skin, and — if he felt the need, which was rare — a plain coat or t-shirt. the instances in which your lover dressed himself with such fine clothing were rare. truth be told, the entire crew was more well-dressed in an hour in wano than in an entire month in the sunny. the lack of money was far more common than you would’ve wished, and zoro himself refused to waste his slim fair share of berries and gold with — at least to him — vain and useless things such as new clothes.
hence why you were planning on robbing at least two entire wardrobes worth of those kimonos. the absolute urge to have him like that was gnawing at your insides. you wished for nothing but to have your arms around him for the entire day, acting as though an insistent pendant dangling from his neck and clinging to his chest due to the sweat from battles.
your mind trailed on, wondering if that pirate-surgeon would’ve been able to perform such a feat.
“keep wearing that, at all times,” you punctuated, allowing his hand to raise your thigh to the height of his hip. “you don’t bathe whatsoever, so it won’t be hard.”
he grinned against the skin of your exposed collarbone. “liked it that much?”
you hummed your agreement. zoro pressed your back against the nearest solid surface and opened your legs for further access to where you needed him most. the pair of you had half-an-hour of privacy — if not less — and he clearly didn’t mean to lose those precious minutes with meaningless gestures and words. zoro tossed the cape on the ground and started to undo the knot that kept his kimono shut.
you stopped him in the spot. “nuh-huh.”
“the hell you mean nuh-huh?” he bit back.
“clothes on.”
“how am i supposed to fuck you with shit on?”
you craned your neck to the side, offering him a clear glimpse of the wickedness gleaming in your eyes. “you’ll figure it out. unless you’re not up for the challenge. i’ll understand if you’re feeling like backing out. maybe someone more flexible would’ve—”
he wrapped both of your legs around his waist, supporting your entire weight with the arm placed under you. he moved and aimed for a distinct position, and you blinked a bit surprised at his decision. zoro had suspended you midair, with neither a wall nor a table to aid him. a gasp of delight and awe passed through your lips as zoro’s clothed thigh roughly rubbed itself against your arousal.
a calloused finger guided your chin up with roughness, adjusting your eyesight to his face.
“me,” rough voice wielded in a monosyllabic command whose further intentions he was sure you would understand.
the trance upon the first glance of that set of clothes — and the sinful thoughts thereafter — managed to distract you from the fact that you and zoro had been apart for almost three weeks. and for an instance you had forgotten that the yearning fed by distance was reciprocated. that zoro had been just as eager to have you in his arms as you were to be drowned in the sea of his lust.
that brief pledge — me, look at me — had such a meaning hidden underneath, that for a second you felt the urge to cradle his face in your hands, if only to caress the man beyond the demon with the care he ever so longed for.
most pirates sailed around the seas with postures and expressions that nearly seemed to shout “sex for free”. to them, the act itself conducted with strangers was but another trivial aspect of adventure; an adrenaline-filled activity not to be taken seriously. to zoro, sex symbolized the deepest shade of intimacy. an instance where he laid himself bare to you. not in the sense of nakedness — for he couldn’t care less for the sight of his body beyond the physical strength required to wield his swords and protect his crewmates —, but rather in the act of offering you his soul on a silver platter.
he was not a man of words. his devotion was made explicit through the manner with which he served you. zoro thought himself a wretched creature at your service, meant to protect and please. there was no space available for the hesitation born from the thought of vulnerability. sex was the act of tearing his skin apart with his own blade in order to offer you a warm solace within the walls of his heart. it was a sacred transaction where you were the worshiped deity; the ground beneath your feet the altar he knelt upon. and one should treat the object of their faith with the utmost respect.
yet, due to the scarce time unmatching the accumulated desire, zoro wasn’t given the chance to adore you properly. hence the reasoning of such a request.
a heartwarming action, truly. but your eyes were attracted to the way that stupid kimono hugged his frame, offering a scarce glimpse of his chest — only enough to leave space for imagination. both a curse and a blessing was bestowed upon you.
zoro turned your chin towards him yet again, a vein nearly popping on his forehead, wearing an expression you’ve grown to know too well. “eyes on me.”
you grinned. perhaps your stupidest decision yet. “are you jealous of a kimono?”
that taunt was his undoing.
“up for the challenge,” zoro echoed, tone dead, pupil blown. “clothes on.”
zoro flexes the muscles of his thigh, his entire expression brightening up with wickedness as his other hand reaches for your clothed arousal. “let’s test that, huh?”
“i need my legs to fight!” you suddenly felt the urge to remind him.
he grinned like a devil. “you’ll figure it out.”

Zoro has always had a nose for alcohol. It’s how he’s always able to find it whenever the cook finds new hiding spots—
Used to. Used to find new hiding spots. He’s not their cook anymore.
But he’s got a nose like a bloodhound for alcohol, which is how he ended up here, at what looks like an abandoned shrine to a god he doesn’t believe in, on the outskirts of Wano.
It’s easy enough to dig up a floorboard and find a veritable treasure trove of sealed bottles filled with purple liquid. Saké of some kind, surely.
If it’s good enough for some god, it’s good enough for him. The nap he takes after the first bottle, though, is… vivid.
The cook is there. Why is the cook there? Fuck him. But Zoro watches as he paces. He’s in some ridiculous getup with a cape.
And suddenly, in the way dreams often go, they’re in the Sunny. And Zoro is watching the cook embrace HIMSELF. Another Zoro. He’s got him in a death grip so strong Zoro himself can almost feel it, watching as he is from a distance.
But then the Zoro he’s watching us pushing Sanji off of him, and drawing his swords, and yelling something about betrayal and disloyalty, and Zoro sure does agree with THAT.
He watches as Sanji steps back, hands up, placating, and that Zoro growls and lunges at him.
When Zoro wakes up, he vows to forget about Sanji and move on. He’s gone, and no useless dream is going to bring him back.
He lives his day as a ronin as is the plan, but returns to his secret stash of saké at night. It’s good, free and plentiful.
And the next night his dream is just as vivid.
It’s the Merry this time. The Sanji in his dream has his hair parted the old way, and there’s a young Zoro with both his eyes, still. Zoro growls in disgust. Again with the cook?
It’s night in the dream and they’re on the deck,
Sanji’s got a hand laid gently over young Zoro’s, and with the other he’s pointing out a school of glowing fish. Zoro has a vague memory of the real moment, but not of the hand over his.
Then Sanji leans over and KISSES young Zoro, which— okay. So this is one of THOSE dreams.
The ones full of longing that Zoro’s worked to squash.
But he watches his younger self kiss back, and get everything Zoro never got. He’s bitter, looking at them.
And then young Zoro is pushing him off, and yelling. That he’s a liar and a traitor and royalty playing at pirates.
Zoro’s really not sure about where that last part is coming from. But he watches the horror wash across Sanji’s face and something inside of him twinges a little. He hears a whispered “I didn’t want this,” but it’s covered by the sharp sound of swords drawn, and then nothing.
Zoro doesn’t return for the saké for two more nights. He has no dreams.
When he returns, sips, and sleeps, he finds himself in the Baratie.
He really doesn’t remember much of the place, so the details of it now surprise him. The whole crew is there, even Brook, all except Sanji
When he appears, from the back, he looks haggard. Exhausted. Sopping wet. He’s wearing a waiter’s uniform, and has none of the bravado Zoro remembers from the Baratie.
“Your favorites?” He asks, sounding almost hopeful. “Sea king curry? Mikans? Cotton candy?”
He’s met with silence, everyone stopping what they’re doing. Luffy breaks it. “Why would we want anything YOU make?” He asks. “A failure like you doesn’t even deserve to serve the future pirate king.”
Zoro, watching from his table in the back, sees the way Sanji breaks.
He shrinks in on himself. “Please,” he says. “I’ll do better.”
“You couldn’t even keep them safe,” says a voice Zoro recognizes as his own, sitting among them. “You left Luffy to starve.”
“N-no,” Sanji trembles. “Please, I couldn’t— I had to keep everyone safe—“
Zoro can’t listen to any more of this. He stands, chair scraping the floor loudly.
Sanji’s eyes snap to him. Not the him at the table, but HIM.
As the dream fades out, Zoro finds himself glued in place under the weight of that shocked stare.
He thinks there might be something wrong with the saké.
But, after one night without it, his curiosity gets the best of him.
The dream is in a castle, imposing stone walls and dark lighting. Sanji is there, in front of a mirror, his face covered in purple and green bruises.
He’s playing with gold cuffs around his wrists.
Zoro steps up, out of the shadows, and Sanji sees him in the mirror. His eyes are red and swollen.
“Mosshead,” he breathes. His breath hitches and he swipes at his face with the heel of his palm. “Fuck. I’m sorry.”
Zoro doesn’t say anything. He’s used to another Zoro being here for this part.
“I know you won’t forgive me,” Sanji says. “If— when I come back. I know even in my dreams it’s too late. But I need you to know I loved you.”
“Loved?” Zoro questions.
“Love,” Sanji chokes out. “Love. Fuck. Always will, at this rate. Just— When I see you again, when we meet in Wano— please don’t pretend you forgive me when you don’t. I can’t— it feels like every dream I have you love me before you hate me and I can’t take that again. Please don’t even give me hope. I know this was unforgivable.”
“Why’d you do it, then?” Zoro asks. This is a dream and can offer no real answers, but he still craves them.
Sanji sobs, both hands on his face now. The bracelets rattle. “They said they had Zeff,” he says.
“They— you weren’t at Zou! They could’ve easily destroyed everyone there and I wouldn’t have been able to stop it! I just— I wasn’t supposed to live this long. I wasn’t supposed to live this WELL. I can’t keep being selfish.”
Zoro scoffs. “Shut up,” he says, and Sanji flinches.
“Just fucking get back here or whatever. I don’t care about your excuses anymore. I’ll be waiting.”
He turns to leave, and as he does, a pink haired girl with curly eyebrows runs into the room and says something about Luffy. Fucking weird dream.
Zoro wakes up, and he doesn’t drink the saké again.
When he sees Sanji, it feels like it’s been a lifetime. The kimono he’s wearing is bright and his smile mirrors it.
Then Sanji turns and catches sight of Zoro and his smile dims.
Zoro feels angry all over again.
What was WITH all those fucking dreams?
He ignores him as long as he can, until they’re together on the edge of a forest and Sanji’s sleeves roll up just enough that Zoro catches sight of two red rings, fading into brown, around his wrists.
How…
“Cook,” Zoro says.
Sanji looks to him. He looks almost… scared. “What, dumbass?”
Zoro thinks about the cape with the silly outfit and the cuffs. He pauses. “Do you have a— sister? Pink hair?”
Sanji looks BEWILDERED. “…yes?” He asks. “Is— has she been here?”
Not physically, Zoro thinks.
Zoro takes a moment to recontextualize every dream he’s had since getting to Wano.
“Cook,” he says. Slower.
Sanji grits his teeth. “What,” he says. “Whatever you want to say, just spit it out.”
Zoro’s not sure what he wants to say. He wants to say many things.
Things like “I don’t forgive you for leaving” and “you betrayed us” and “you betrayed ME”. But also now things like “what were those first two dreams? The ones with us?” And “did you stop having those dreams after I stopped” and “was it worth it” and “did you want to come home”
What he settles on is, “Is it all finished?”
And maybe that was the worst possible question in the most vague way, but Sanji takes a moment and then nods, the motion a little jerk-y. “Yeah,” he says. “I’m— it’s finished.”
“Good,” Zoro says. He steps up to him and Sanji flinches
Somehow, more than anything else, THAT is what convinces Zoro that the dreams were shared. That they were Sanji from the beginning.
He ignores the flinch. He grabs Sanji’s wrist, avoiding the fading bruise, and squeezes to the edge of too tight.
“You were a fucking idiot.”
Sanji goes to draw back but Zoro tugs him closer. “You were a fucking idiot and I did hate you for it. But I. Don’t.”
Sanji freezes. He stares at the grass between them.
“Don’t leave again,” Zoro says. “I don’t hate you. Don’t leave again.”
There’s tears on Sanji’s face that Zoro won’t mention. “Okay,” he says. “Shitty swordsman. Don’t get full of yourself.”
But he leans forward. Hesitantly. Like a child waiting to be reprimanded. And when Zoro doesn’t, Sanji’s head lands on his shoulder.a
And Zoro doesn’t mention the tear tracks on his kimono or the way Sanji shakes apart in front of him.
And Sanji doesn’t mention that Zoro doesn’t let go of his wrist.
And maybe it’s a reoccurring problem, that neither of them mention things often enough.
But today—
Today and tonight, it works in their favor.
And when all this is over, no one else mentions is when they hold hands over the railing of the Sunny and watch the glowing fish pass by.

Reader x Law: Wano-Pre-Raid on Onigashima
Authors note: Been watching Wano and these characters just inspire lots during this arc. Feel free to comment! Criticism is accepted in order to help my writing. Feel free to offer suggestions or more fic ideas! Next I’m working on some monster trio and Law drabbles I think, but other ideas are accepted and appreciated. Let me know your thoughts below. I know I want just 5 minutes alone with this man, as I know others feel the same, here it is. Thanks! I watch the English version where the Starwhats call Law, Traffy.
Law isn’t Traffy to you.
Features: Law
Summary: Law has just returned from being captured by Drake and Hawkins. Luffy sends you to see if Law and his crew are still down for the raid on the night of the Fire Festival. Law is interested in more than just the raid…
Warnings: Minors DNI, NSFW, Smut, fluff, Vaginal sex, fingering, ass/pussy slapping, pet names, “good girl”, Dom Law, teasing, I don’t own these characters
You and your crewmates, the Strawhats, are preparing outfits and hanging out at Kuri beach the night before the raid on Onigashima. Law, having escaped imprisonment by Hawkins and Drake, has rounded up his crew and is camping on his submarine nearby. You and your crewmates knew Law had been captured and had heard from some of the Heart Pirates he had come back in rough shape. You and the rest of the crew were now discussing who was going to touch base with the Heart pirates and reiterate the new plan to them.
“I’m going to go check in with Traffy and make sure he and his crew are still ready for tomorrow. Sanji, can I have a snack when I get back?” Luffy asks as he begins to walk toward the Polar Tang.
“You just ate! No you can’t have a snack!” Sanji yells.
Luffy’s stomach growls. You look over at the Polar Tang, knowing Law was back safely with his crew caused a soft smile to form across your face. You had only known him briefly as a result of the alliance formed between your crews. You couldn’t help, but like the mysteriously passionate and jaded captain of the Heart Pirates. Your crew had driven him insane during your partnership, but you knew what you accomplished at Dressrosa had made it worth it to him. You couldn’t believe that the raid tomorrow could mean the end of it, the end of seeing him. You frowned slightly and shook your head, as you returned to examine the outfit you had picked out.
“Luffy if you go you’ll just make Traffy angry! He’s been through a lot, let someone else go.” Nami urged.
“What do you mean? Traffy and I are friends!” Luffy yelled back, stopping in his tracks.
“Send Y/N. Traffy has rarely gotten annoyed with her our whole journey together. He’ll be honest with her.” Robin says, looking at you with a soft chuckle.
“But I wanted to see Traffy!” Luffy yells.
“You’ll see him tomorrow. He needs his rest, Let Y/N go.” Robin reinstructs.
“Fine. Y/N. Go check in on Traffy and his crew, make sure they are still ready for tomorrow.” Luffy says to you sternly.
You finish the twirl you started to do in the yellow, kunichi dress you had picked out for the battle tomorrow. You turned your head and looked at your captain with furrowed eyebrows.
“Why me?” You asked.
“That’s an order.” Luffy said with a commanding look.
Nami and Robin look at one another devilishly, then look back at you. You raise an eyebrow at them, then roll your eyes and begin walking towards the Polar Tang. At the polar tang you find Bepo, Shachi and Penguin outside on the submarine's deck.
“Hey, my crew sent me over to check on Law. They wanted to make sure you all were still good for the raid tomorrow?” You asked as you rubbed the back of your head nervously.
“Yes, we are still in! We want to find out who ruined the original plan, everyone keeps blaming us and our captain! We aren’t going to let him down like that ever again! ” Bepo says as he clenches his fists and takes a step forward.
“Yeah!” Penguin and Shachi say in unison after Bepo’s words.
“I’m glad to hear it.” You reply to them with a soft supportive smile. “Where’s Law? How is he?”
“He’s in his quarters tending to his..” His voice breaks a moment as he looks down in shame. “To his wounds and getting cleaned up.” Penguin says.
“My Captain asked me to check in with him, do you think that would be okay?” You ask, biting your lip.
You knew from how passionate his crew was, he must have been through something tough while captured.
“I’ll take you to him, this way.” Bepo replies.
“Thank you!” You say with a large grin.
You follow Bepo through the door of the Polar Tang. Shachi and Penguin swoon at you in your kunichi outfit as you walk away from them. Bepo leads you down a long hallway and eventually stops at a door on the right side of the hall.
“This is it.” Bepo says as he raises his paw to start to knock on the door. “Ugh… Captain…”
“What is it?” You hear a muffled deep, gravely voice speak from the other side of the door.
You gasp as you notice the anger in his voice. You knew you shouldn’t have come. Bepo nervously rubs the fur behind his ears.
“You have a visitor. One of the Strawhats is here to check in on you.”
“Tell Strawhat to go away.” Law replies sternly through the closed door again.
“Umm… it’s not Strawhat, just one of his crew.”
You swallow hard and decide to try to help Bepo out. Bepo sighs beside you.
“Law, it’s Y/N.” You say after taking a deep breath.
“Fine. Come in.”
You were shocked at his quick willingness to allow you to enter his private quarters. You turn the door handle and look over at Bepo, nodding at him as you push the door open. You walk in and shut the door behind you. Law sits on the floor, leaning against his bed in his kimono. He rests his arms across his knees bent in front of him. He’s covered in dried blood and staring at the wall. You blink a few times as you look at him. Taking a deep breath, you move to kneel down next to him.
“Law… Are you okay?” You ask shakily as you stare at him.
His eyes darted toward you, then returned to looking at the wall in front of him. You and Law had grown somewhat close during his alliance with the Strawhat crew. You liked talking medicine with him, since you were a former nurse. You hadn’t seen him since Zou as you had gone with Luffy to get Sanji back from Whole Cake Island. Meanwhile, he had gone straight to Wano with the rest of your crew.
You knew you cared about him more than the rest of your crew did and in a different way. You couldn’t imagine him ever feeling the same way, but you had feelings for him. You knew it was crazy, having a crush on the captain of another crew, but you couldn’t help how he made you feel. He made you feel safe, smart, and valuable. Not that your crew didn’t, but he did so in a different way and you enjoyed his company. You’d never leave your crew, but you knew when this alliance was over, you’d miss Law. All you could do was help him with his wounds now and do as your captain ordered, make sure he was still onboard for the raid tomorrow.
“Y/N.” He gives you a side glance then crosses his arms and looks at the floor in front of him. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” You say with a soft smile. You gently lean forward to touch his bloodied cheek. “You on the other hand…” You start to say as you reach for the basin of water he had prepared beside him and one of the clean folded towels.
You dip the folded towel in the water and ring it out. Gently, you press the warmed cloth to a cut on his forehead. He winces a bit as you apply some pressure to it. He sighs at the heat from the cloth and the tenderness of your care.
“I’m fine.” He says. “Just a few bumps and bruises. I’ll be ready for tomorrow.” He adds as he reaches up for your hand holding the cloth.
The sensation of his hand touching yours sent a jolt through your body. Your heart began to beat faster and a warmth began to grow inside your chest. Law took the cloth from your hand and used it to wipe the rest of the dried blood from his face. You reached for another cloth and prepared it to hand to him. He sat quietly focused on his task, then his eyes fell back upon your face. His eyebrows were furrowed as he stared at you with an intensity that only made the heat in your chest rise.
“Law.” You reply as you furrow your eyebrows back at him in confusion. “What is it?”
He grunts and clenches his teeth, directing his gaze back to his hands. He takes a deep breath, then looks at you with a side glance again. He tosses the cloth in his hand back into the basin, then he reaches for the cloth in yours. He takes the cloth in from your hand and tosses it in the basin as well. He stands up and sits at the edge of his bed, returning his gaze to you with a sigh.
“I’m glad you’re okay, Law. When I heard you had gone to rescue your crew… and gave yourself up for them… I was…” Your eyes begin to water as you speak. “Bepo was so worried.” You say as you shake your head and look down at your hands, to hide your watering eyes.
“Why do you call me Law while the rest of your crew calls me that stupid nickname?” Law urges as he looks at you without turning his head.
You look up at Law in confusion and twist your lips as you think of a response to the sudden subject change.
“Oh. Um. I guess it’s well, I know you hate the nickname,I ’d rather call you something else, something you like. You say, placing your palms on your thighs, tucking your head down, so Law can’t see your blush.
“Like what?” He asks, giving you another side glance, then looking back in front of him.
“I don’t know, Traf?” You say looking up with a surprised grin.
“Okay.” He says not to make eye contact with you.
“Okay?”
“I’m glad you’re okay. I was worried about you.” He says with a blush he doesn’t try to hide.“But, this alliance ends after the battle with Kaido tomorrow.” he adds with his earlier sternness returning to his voice.
His blush makes your blush grow, but your eyes begin to glisten at the idea of the two of your parting ways. Your thoughts begin to flood with panic, had Law just blushed at you, had he just flirted with you? The man sitting before you had just risked his life for his crew, and after tomorrow night, you may never see him again. You decided it was now or never. You look at him and take a deep breath.
You lunge forward and wrap your arms around his neck, pulling yourself towards him in a tight embrace. His eyes widen, his breath catches in his throat, and his hat falls from his head at your jarring lunge. You bury your head into his neck and breathe him in. It takes a moment due to shock, but his chest relaxes against yours and his arms wrap around your waist, pulling you in closer to him. You sit there for a few seconds, wrapped in one anothers embrace. After a bit, he pushes away from you and his eyes meet yours. Your hands sink down his muscular, tattooed chest as you try to guess what could be going through his mind. Your eyes flicker to his lips a moment, then returns to his gray orbs, you hoped he would realize the permission you were giving him.
Suddenly, his soft, dry lips are hitting yours. Law is rough at first like he thinks the moment is fleeting and you’ll realize you’ve made a mistake. Your hands slither back up to embrace his neck to which his body relaxes against yours, pulling you in closer to him. Your fingers begin to rifle through his dark messy hair. Gently his tongue pushes against your lips, asking for permission to enter. As you grant it, your left hand falls to feel his chest, catching on the lining of his kimono, pulling it to hang loose off his chest. Your hand caresses his naked, tattooed pec.
Law slowly drags away from your lips and begins meticulously kissing down your neck. At your collarbone, you feel his teeth dig into you, forcing a moan from your lips.
“Traf..”
He pulls away and looks at you devilishly, raising his eyebrow in question. You nod back. His tattooed hands wrap around your waist and lift you to straddle his right leg. His warm chapped lips return to press against your plump red ones. You push the kimono off his shoulders, and move to twirl your fingers in his messy dark locks. He begins to pull at the tie of your kimono. Your lips separate as his gaze falls upon your chest. Your lips begin to caress at and nibble his pierced ear. As the kimono falls off your skin, Law stares in awe at your well endowed chest. A moan escapes his lips as you bite and suck harder near his piercings. He moves his right hand from your waist to caress your breasts, gently twisting your right bud. You moan in his ear and move your chest closer to his, seeking out more friction on your sensitive buds. He drops his hand from your breasts back to your waist and begins sucking and nipping at your nipples. Your hips begin to rock against his thigh in delight, while he licks away at your sensitive buds. He chuckles with pleasure against your breast as your hands fall from hair to his back. Your fingertips curl into his toned shoulders, leaving scratch marks as he bites again at your nipple.
“Traf… need you.” you whine.
He smirks, pulling away from his feast on your breasts to look you in the eye. He slides his hands down your waist to your folds. You lean forward, connecting your chests, hoping to find some friction like he had just been giving you with his tongue. He chuckles as his tattooed hand runs through your folds, causing you to throw your head back.
“Law!”
“No underwear. Thought so…and so wet. You’re such a slut for me.” He says with a wider smirk.
Your hands slide across his toned back to his chest. Tracing the lines of his large heart tattoo, you find his hardened length beginning to twitch beneath his kimono. Your fingers grasp at it above the fabric as your gaze falls back on his.
He stares at you blankly with his half lidded eyes, fingers circling your clit. Your hips rock faster against his thigh. His grip tightens on your waist as his lips fall upon your ear. Pulling him closer by grabbing his shoulders, your head falls back with a moan. His thumb drops to trace your entrance while two of his other fingers continue to circle your clit.
“You move when you’re told, make noise when you’re told, and cum when you’re told, got it, princess?”
His hand moves faster against your clit as he finishes his instructions. You bite your lip, trying to restrain a moan and look him in the eye. He wraps his arms back around you and lifts you from his lap, to lay flat on the bed behind you. Your kimono falls to the floor at the foot of the bed as Law moves you. You now rest on his bed completely naked and he looks on at you with a satisfied gaze. You raise your knees and begin rubbing your hands up and down your thighs. Law moves to sit between them. He places his left hand on your hip and his right on your clit. His kimono still rests at his waist.
“Law…need”
He slaps your folds. You stifle a moan.
“I thought you were going to be a good girl and do as you were told?”
He begins tracing your entrance with his left hand and using his right thumb to trace the alphabet on your clit. Your toes lift off the ground as he dips his tattooed fingers “E” and “A” into you.
“Say my name.”
“Law.”
“No.”
“Traf.”
“All of it.”
“Trafalgar Law” you say, still trying to stifle a moan as his fingers begin to pound in and out of you.
His fingers begin curling to hit your spot. His hand moves from your clit to bring one of your breasts and nipples to his mouth. Heat begins to build in your stomach.
“Traf I’m going to.”
“Not until I say.” He says sternly, licking at your bud.
He begins quickly slamming your spot faster with his curled fingers. You grip at his hair and grit your teeth. You feel a smile form on his lips against your breast.
“Now.” He says as he bites your breast and moves his thumb back down to play with your clit. His thumb returning to circle your clit sends you over the edge.
“LAAAWWW.” You call in ecstasy as your juices spill out all over his Death tattooed fingers.
You breathe heavily and hear the whoosh of his kimono as he pulls it off and strips his briefs. You sit up on your elbows to get a better look, a smile growing across your lips.
“Now, prove to me you’re a good girl and take me.”
You nod. He gets back on the ground and lays on top of you. Your arms wrap around his back and pull him closer to you. His lips press against yours as his hardened length pushes against your abdomen. Your hand begins to caress his length, but he slaps it away, grabbing it himself to line it up with your entrance.
He begins moving his length up and down your entrance, causing your hips to buck with need. His mouth drops from your lips to bite at your nipples. You moan in response.
“Remember who is in charge here. Otherwise I’ll have to tease you longer.” He says with a smug grin.
You nod and as your hips begin to buck against his. One of your hands wrapped in his dark locks while the other scratches at his back with need.
“You look so tight. Can’t wait to feel you around me. Are you ready to be a good girl and take me?”
You nod, pulling his lips back to yours. He gently begins to enter you with just his tip at first. You moan and clench around him. He grunts. As you relax with him beginning to inch inside you, he slowly begins to push more into you. Once in, he stops moving to let you adjust. Your head falls back and you pant at the feeling of fullness within you. Law kisses your neck and begins to slowly pull his length in and out of you, using your waist as a guide.
“So tight. Look how well you’re taking me. Now be a good girl and handle your pounding.” He says sternly.
You nod against his cheek. His grip tightens and he begins thrusting harder to slam against your cervix. After seeing you tolerate this, he gradually picks up his pace. His lips fall back against yours, while one of his hands dances from your hip to your clit, where it starts moving in circles again. As he starts working your clit with his fingers you feel the heat beginning to rise again in your abdomen.
“I’m close. You’ve been such a good girl for me, so I’ll let you decide, where should I cum?”
“I’---in-inside… Want to feel you finish in me.”
“Good girl.” He says moving his hands back to your hips, so he can slam into you harder.
His gaze falls upon your face where your eyes are beginning to cross and water. You lift your legs to wrap around him to take him deeper. His balls are slapping against your entrance.
Law reaches a hand up and twists one of your swollen nipples, that combined with another deep slam and your juices are pouring out all over his hard length.
“TRAFALGAR.” You moan as your body shakes around his length.
He moves in and out through your ecstasy and after a few more thrusts you feel his length quiver inside you. His juices begin to drip out your core and down your thighs. You pant as Law moans quietly. His eyes fall back upon yours as he raises a hand to move your hair out of your face. His lips gently press against yours once more before he falls down to lay beside you. After a few seconds of panting he puts his arm around you and pulls you into his chest. You tuck your head into his shoulder and wrap your arms around his torso.
“If we die fighting Kaido, at least I can die happy now.” You say breathily.
“We can’t die. I have some other things I would like to try… with you…” Law says between pants.
“Whatever you say, Traffy.” You reply with a soft smile as you lift your lips to his.
The two of you lay there for a bit chatting and laughing.
“I should probably head back soon.” The crew may be wondering where I am.
You roll off his chest and begin crawling out of his bed. You reach for your dress at the base of his bed, but before you can pick it up, arms are wrapped around your waist pulling you back in.
“Let them wonder.”
“Thank goodness my dress isn’t ruined.” You start to say as he kisses down your neck. “Maybe I can stay for a bit longer, but only if you show me your outfit for tomorrow.”
You knew Law cared about what he looked like, so after trying clothes on with your own crew, you were curious what he would choose for the big battle. He rolled his eyes at you, then got out of bed. He rifles through his closet and grabs a shirt and some pants then steps into his bathroom to pee and change. You talk to him about his future plans while he changes. When he steps out, you visibly gasp and you can’t speak. His signature spotted pants and a yellow dress shirt. Who knew such a simple outfit could leave you speechless. Maybe it was the fact it highlighted his lean build or that he only wore two buttons of his shirt buttoned to show off his tattoos. Maybe it was the fact you knew now what lay underneath. You jump to your knees and begin reaching for the shirt buttons.
“Okay, I’m glad I had some warning. I know we should rest because tomorrow is a big day, but I’m now going to need you the rest of the night… maybe well into the morning.” You nervously spit out as you finish the last button and push the shirt from his shoulders, heading for the buttons of his jeans next.
Law’s smug grin returns as he grabs your hands in one of his. He uses his free hand to lift your chin and bring your lips to his.
“Slow down, tiger. Remember who is in charge here. It’s nice to see you needy for me this quickly. May have to find a way to drag this battle out, so we can get some more time together.”
You nod against his lips and pull him back on top of you on the bed.
“Or just join our crew, they already think of you as a member.” You say laughing mildly against his lips.
“You’ve seen what I do for a good girl, seems like it’s time to show you what I do for a bad one…” Law says as he slaps your ass.

The events that happened on Whole Cake Island were imbedded into your bones; and while everyone mostly came out unscathed physically – the scars were still there. Even now that things were finally settled in Wano – people free of Kaido, the down time brought back the pain. Moreso with everything that happened while liberating Oden’s people, emotional things had piled up. So, as the crew relaxed for the first time in what seems like a very long time, you feel uneasy. It had been day three of celebrating and taking a long-awaited breath, your family, your crew were sitting around a fire drinking. Luffy was having the time of his life and he deserved nothing less; his bright smile was felt among the group as everyone recounted their version of things. Each person’s experience was different but oh, how grateful everyone was to be back together.
“You’re quiet.”
Robin nudged you gently and you gave her a small smile. You couldn’t bring anything to the surface, words were tangled on the tip of your tongue until a warm blanket fell over your shoulders; looking up to see Sanji standing over you. He asked if you wanted another helping of miso soup, but you said no, turning back to Robin. You could sense his hesitation, but then he walked away. Guilt riddled your body and Robin took notice, asking if you’d like to go for a walk. Music was playing from afar, crowds of people were walking around, conversing, getting drunk off joy as you stood up from your seat. Chopper asked where you were going, but you gave him a smile and said for a walk – giving him the blanket to keep warm.  Robin and you walked away from the celebration toward the empty streets of the Flower Capital. Passing the Heart Pirates captain, Zoro, and Sanji – the latter giving you a quick glance before going back to pouring drinks for the three of them. You walked quietly next to Robin until the music dulled and you could speak freely without anyone listening. The sound of celebration filled your heart but now things were stable…feelings were reappearing like ghosts in a mad man’s mind.
The two of you stopped in front of a clothing shop and you glanced at your reflection; the dark green kimono looked lovely on you. Robin appeared at your side and smiled softly. “So, is it Sanji?”
When is it not, is what you want to say but you just touch your face and stare at the woman looking back at you. “It’s everything I supposed, but yeah, it’s Sanji.”
Robin was the only person who you confined in about the cook, the prince, your friend. She was a good listener and most times, great at giving advice but after getting Sanji back there had been no room for secrets and talks. You had been so hurt when Nami had recounted the way Sanji had fought with Luffy and her anger made you angry. Then you were terrified of losing him for good – Big Mom, Pudding, his family. They all wanted him, but they never deserved him.
And he was willing to go along with it and that had made you furious because he had done it for all of you.
“I-I can’t get passed it, Robin.” Tears formed in your eyes, facing her with an anguished expression. She sighed and touched your shoulder, telling you it was all going to be okay. That everyone was back together, and things would go back to the way it was, but you refused to believe it. “I just keep thinking what ifs – what if we didn’t get to him? What if he had gone through with the marriage?”
The words felt wrong coming out of your mouth because your faith in Luffy was of the highest peak, but you were just human, who was in love with a man who was too afraid to see what he deserved. “Luffy would have never let that happen. You all were never leaving without Sanji.”
Robin’s words were true, but it didn’t change the fact that Sanji and you hadn’t said much to each other since arriving at Wano with Luffy, Nami and the others from Whole Cake Island. You had wished then that you had gone ahead with Zoro and the other half the group to Wano instead of staying to rescue Sanji. Maybe then you would have been saved the pain of witnessing Sanji in such a devasting state. You remembered the way his voice stuttered when Luffy and him were speaking through the mirror dimension, asking if you were with the rescue group.
“Is she there with you guys? Is she okay.”
Nami glanced at you and when you shook your head no, she understood. “She’s not here right now, but she’s fine.”
“Oh.” He sounded disappointment but you walked away, unbale to listen to Nami chastised the man for hurting Luffy, for hurting her. You knew how devastated she was when Sanji left the crew, but her devastation was different from yours. Your heart broke that day, and it still hadn’t been mended.
“You should talk to him.”
“Maybe. We should get back to the celebration, I mean – we helped free Wano.”
Robin studied your face for a moment but when you smiled, she knew it was genuine and she chuckled when your arm looped around hers. The two of you walked back to the party but you stopped next to Law and Zoro, Sanji nowhere in sight. Giving Robin a knowing look, you asked the two men if they were inclined to share a drink or two. Law blushed and you laughed, patting him lightly on the shoulder. Zoro handed over the bottle at his side and you didn’t wait for a glass. The three watched as you chugged down half of the bottle and Zoro grinned with pride when you exhaled, wiping a hand over your mouth. Holding the bottle to Robin, who declined, you handed it to Law.
“I have something to confess, fellas.” The men looked at you curiously as you twirled in your kimono. “I cannot wait to put on a pair of pants.”
Your movement brought out the smallest of laughs from the doctor of the group and your eyes gave a quick scan around for Sanji – who was found flirting with a gorgeous brunette in a fancier kimono than yours and confliction rose from your toes. He deserved happiness and real affection…even if it wasn’t from you. This single moment turned something off in you and your eyes glazed, locked onto Law. He caught your stare and looked away nervously, but he offered up the bottle, and you knew he would be yours. Even if just for the night. Just for relief. And he was.
The two of you drank well into the night, and sometime between exchanging battle stories and a proper introduction to his crew – you two ended up alone near a small fire. Your hands moved up against the flames and he removed his brown jittoku, placing it around your shoulders. Thanking him, you asked when he and his crew were leaving. Law sighed deeply. “In a few days, we need to regroup. We’re going to need some supplies. Maybe stick around to make sure everything is settled, but I guess your captain took care of that.”
“It was a group effort,” you offered a smile and Law…smiled back.
Heat, not from the fire, rose to your face and you quietly asked if he’d like to take a walk. He turned red, looked toward his crew but then said yes. He rose from his seat and held out a hand, you took it and when he pulled you up – your hand fell to his chest. “Only for tonight…”
He understood. “Let’s not waste time then.”
You laughed then and told him you wanted to get another bottle from Zoro, who had been hoarding them all night. He agreed and said he was going to let his crew know he’d be back…
“In the morning,” you advised, holding back a smile as his face turned maroon. Watching as he walked away, you laughed at how technical and cool he could be. Wrapping his jittoku around your chest, you made your way to your family. It seemed they all had gathered back around the same fire from earlier and Luffy grinned, shouting your name as you approached. Making a beeline to Zoro, you touched his shoulder and asked if he had any more bottles left. He grimaced but handed over a full bottle. Nami asked where you got the jittoku from and when you said Law, everyone’s eyes, including Sanji’s moved to you. Robin looked the most amused. Laughing nervously, you held up the bottle. “We’re celebrating, aren’t we? How about one last toast for the night? Just between us.”
This turned everyone’s attention from your newest and shortest flame, to Usopp handing out sake cups. Zoro passed around a bottle, and everyone poured a healthy helping. Laughter and jokes were traded, and tears formed in your eyes when Luffy stood up. Your chin quivered as everyone listened to him express his gratitude for the best crew he could ever ask for. When he held out his cup, each one of you stood up. Zoro nudged you playfully but as everyone cheered and toasted, Sanji’s eyes met yours. He looked devastatingly handsome in the light of the fire, surrounded by the sounds of familial warmth and all you wanted to do was go to him, but you couldn’t. Instead, you smiled, and he smiled back – and in that moment, it felt enough.
At least he was happy.
Drinking up the sake, you laughed when Luffy accidentally spilled some into the fire prompting Nami to yell at him. An argument over nothing broke out between Zoro and Sanji, while Franky laughed and laughed and as everyone was distracted, you slipped away. Only looking back to get a look at your family, not expecting anyone to be looking but Sanji was. He must have stopped fighting with Zoro because he stood in front of the fire, facing your direction, cigarette hanging from his lips. He was feet away, but it felt like miles and when Law’s hand came down onto your shoulder – Sanji didn’t look away, but you did. You turned to Law with the bottle of ale, and he smiled, asking if you were ready for that walk.
“I’ve never been more ready.”
Maybe it was your imagination or intuition or hope, but you could feel Sanji’s eyes baring down into your back but when Law slipped his hand around yours – you pushed away any thoughts of the cook and left them behind with the celebration. The music grew softer as Law and you walked back into the town, talking quietly about everything that had gone on. You asked how he was feeling physically, and he confessed he was very tired. You mentioned the inn that had been offered to house the crew and he agreed to go to it. He held your hand, like a nervous gentleman, the entire time and when you led him upstairs to your room – the two of you wasted no time. As soon as the door was closed behind him, he took off his hat and pulled you to him. His hands fell to your waist and when you kissed him, both your bodies melted.
How long had it been since you were touched?
Too long.
Law kissed you softly, hand under your chin as he led you backwards toward the bed. Your knees hit the edge and he slowly unraveled his jittoku that you wore, then the silk kimono. Your nerves faded into excitement, moving down onto the bed, his body on top of yours. Moonlight shined through the small window next to the bed and when he moved further into you – there was nothing in your mind but the man above you.

Clinking glasses, boisterous laughter and sounds of revelry filled the air. The kingdom of Wano was celebrating the end of Kaido’s reign and of the ill-famed prophecy coming to fruition after two long decades. As always, your crew was in the centre of the limelight. Luffy was predictably surrounded by piles of empty plates on one side and plates loaded with food on the other. Ussopp and Chopper were merry-making, Robin, Nami and Franky were engaged in conversation with Yamato-kun and Tsuru-san, Brook was playing with some children and you couldn’t see Sanji anywhere. Probably escorting some damsel in distress somewhere, was your best bet. And in a corner of the room, surrounded by Kin’e’mon, Duke Dogstorm and Cat Viper was Zoro – all of them going through barrels of sake like running water. With the burden of Kaido off everyone’s shoulders, everyone felt lighter, freer. So why was there a heaviness in your heart?
You excused yourself from the people around you and you went outside the room to take a deep breath. Maybe looking at the stars would remind you again how insignificant your troubles were. You chastised yourself for feeling the way you did when there were people that had lost their loved ones in the war and in the years preceding it, and once again you wished that matters of the heart could be reigned over by logic. You’d carried a thing of sake with you and there were strains of faint music coming in from somewhere and so you took unladylike sips while staring up at the stars in the sky, willing all other thoughts out of your brain.
“Oi, what are you doing out here?,” a familiar gruff voice rang out behind you. Jolted out of your thoughts and nearly choking on the sake, your eyes widened as you turned around to find Zoro. However, before you could get a word in, he spoke again, and your chest felt heavy again.
“Shitty-cook was looking for you.” Oh. It was probably too much to have expected Zoro to notice your absence and come find out in the middle of a banquet with free-flowing sake. You should’ve known better.
As if right on cue, another familiar voice filled with half-hearted anger and pure annoyance called out from a distance. “Oi Marimo, where the hell have you been? Hiyori-chan’s been looking for you all night, how dare you keep a lady waiting?” Your heart lurched again hearing Hiyori’s name and as Zoro turned around to face Sanji, Sanji spotted you. His tone changed immediately as he called out to you this time, sweetly and with no trace of earlier frustration, “Hellooo YN-chan, didn’t see you there! Are you enjoying the party? Was mosshead over here, bothering you?”
“Haaa?!”
You let out a little laugh and a wave, with a smile you hoped was convincing enough, the same time as Zoro let out an accusatory curse.
“Hey, Sanji! I’m alright thanks, I was looking for you actually. Can I have a cigarette?”
“Of course, anything for you!” Sanji trips over himself trying to get out his pack of cigarettes and insists on lighting it for you. Having completed it, he turns around to see Zoro still standing there, staring at the two of you. “You stupid Marimo, didn’t I tell you Hiyori-chan’s waiting for you? Don’t you have any manners? I can’t believe she would pick you over me. She’s the most beautiful woman in the whole country, why would she even want a brute like you?! Don’t keep her waiting, you ill-mannered animal!” Sanji all but kicks Zoro, as if sending him flying to Hiyori’s feet might make up for however long she’s been waiting. For a second it looks like Zoro and Sanji are going to butt heads for the nth time but Zoro simply twists his face into a scowl, decides against it and walks off, grumbling under his breath. You turn back to rest your elbows on the parapet as you watch the smoke billow away into the night sky.
“So, Zoro and Hiyori, huh?,” you say with a little laugh.
Sanji lets out a scoff, takes a drag as if to compose himself, and then speaks, “Can you believe it?”
You don’t answer him and the two of you finish your cigarettes in silence afterwards. You offer Sanji your remaining sake and he graciously accepts. The two of you walk back to the banquet hall and instinctively your eyes scan the room for Zoro – he is nowhere to be found. And then, cautiously and against your best interests, you scan the room for Hiyori – she is nowhere to be found either. You can feel the bile rising in your chest as you scan the room a third time, this time for signs of either of them, but nothing. Putting two plus two together, you walk into the room with a heavier heart than you’d left. Walking over to the banquet table, you grab two bottles of sake and go join the group nearest to you. Chopper was putting chopsticks up his nose and the entire group was in splits – it was easy to pretend you were having fun too.
Back on the ship, you try your best to give Zoro as wide a berth as possible and hope it goes unnoticed. In your defense, it’s nothing obvious – it’s not like you’re walking the other way when you see him. You didn’t really want to either. Your heart might have been hurting but even then, you couldn’t deny how good he looked doing push-ups on the deck of the Sunny. Well into his 500’s, brazenly shirtless, and sweat glistening like molten gold on his brown skin in the sunlight. Had you not been bothered about giving him some space, you likely would’ve been staring at him shamelessly and Robin would’ve passed a cheeky comment about flies going into your open mouth. With a heavy sigh, and a slightly heavier heart, you go back to the book you were reading.
Days pass like this, with you toeing a thin line doing your best to keep your distance while trying to not make it obvious to anyone. This was just a passing crush and from past experience you’d learned that the best, and probably only way, to deal with it was to bide your time and let it fade away on its own. You only wondered how long it would take this time, because there was a limit to the pangs of pain you could tolerate.
You were sitting in the crow’s nest, knees to your chest and cradling the book you were reading when a movement drew your attention to the door. Zoro walked in with weights and set them down on the floor next to you.
“Should I- do you need the room?” you asked getting ready to get up, hoping simultaneously he’d say yes and no to appease the two splits your heart was in.
“Stay,” he grunted under his breath and he turned around and began setting up his equipment.
Long ago the two of you had come to an agreement to tolerate, and allow, only each other in this little sacred space the two of you had managed to create for yourselves on the Sunny. You reading in silence while Zoro worked out nearby was a near-natural occurrence for the two of you and naturally it often led to small talk, casual conversation and eventually playful banter. You’d spent nights up here on watch, drinking from the secret alcohol stash that Zoro and you had hidden away underneath the floorboards. The more you thought about all the memories you have of the two of you in the room where you were, the more the awkwardness of the present moment was stifling, closing in your heart and squeezing it in desperation. It was too far gone now, there was no escape. If you left now, it would make it even more obvious so all you could hope for was that Zoro hadn’t noticed anything out of the ordinary. Although with the way you’d tried to leave earlier… Zoro was an idiot but unfortunately, the bastard could be observant when he wanted to. It was all you could do to stare into the book in your hands, boring your eyes into the words on the page and registering none of them.
Wordlessly you slid back into place, watching him curiously as he arranged the weights on the racks with his back to you. Thanks to your efforts, you had never been alone with him ever since you’d left Wano. You’d made it a point to always stay on the deck, with others in company and sight, to prevent yourself from the exact situation that you were in right now. You knew Zoro liked to train in the crow’s nest, but it was also your favourite place to read a book for similar reasons – it was quiet and far away from the chaos that the deck was almost always prone to.
Speaking of the devil, Zoro's voice cuts through the room, “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?”
“Dunno, you’ve seemed a little out of it ever since we left Wano.”
“What do you mean?”
“You know, we haven’t- you haven’t come up to the crow’s nest to read or anything,”
“Oh.” Your heart flutters a little at the fact that he noticed, but the rational part of your brain shuts it down. That’s what a friend does. He cares about you, just not the way you do about him. “I uh- I wanted to give you some space.”
It was Zoro’s turn to look confused. “Hah? Why?”
“I thought you might need some time to get over….” your voice dies down as the confusion in Zoro’s eyes increases. “Get over what?” The pure obliviousness almost makes you question yourself but for the sake of your sanity, you decide to press on. “Over Okiku-san?” you say softly. You see his eyes soften at the mention of her name.
“Oh. Yeah, I visited her grave with Kin’e’mon before we left.” You nodded understandingly. “If that’s what you’re worried about, I’m fine.”
“Do you miss her?”
“Miss her? I only knew her for a week.”
“Then… do you miss Hiyori-san?”
“Haaah?! How do you know about that? Did someone tell you? I bet it was Brook he has awful fucking timing. Just like that morning….” Zoro grumbled under his breath.
Your heart sinks a little as you recall he’s referring to the night that they slept together. You remember feeling devastated when Brook was telling you and Nami and you had to do everything in your power to act like it was scandalizing gossip and not like it felt like your heart was like a rock dropping rapidly into the sea. And it was happening again.
“No one told me, I just… guessed. I’m sorry,” you say softly, trying to stop tears from falling.
“What for?”
“It must suck to leave someone you love behind.” A pause and then you offered honestly, “I don’t know if I could do it.”
“Who did I leave behind?”
“Hiyori-san?”
You could see the gears in his brain turning as he tried to put the pieces together, “And who do I love?”
“Hiyori-san….?”
“Where the hell did you get that from?!”
“From you?!" Zoro continued to stare at you like you were spouting nonsense and so you added in your defense, "I thought she confessed to you on the night of the banquet!”
“She did,” but before you could say anything Zoro spoke again, "But I turned her down.”
“Oh. So it was Okiku-chan then?”
“Haaa?! Where are you getting any of this from?! You’ve been acting strangely ever since we left Wano and now you keep fuckin’ talking about me being with people I haven’t ever thought about that way. Do you think I’m like ero-cook over there, who falls in love with every single girl he meets? Is that really what you think of me?”
“No,” you whisper, tears threatening to spill any moment now. You’d never seen Zoro this annoyed, and never at you. Zoro turns around and starts putting his weights back, his back to you. “Forget it, I just wanted to see if you’re okay but I don’t know what’s wrong with you.”
Your heart sank to your knees and all the arguments you'd been using to not confess to him suddenly fell away. All that was left was your need to explain to Zoro that you'd never meant to piss him off, only to try and know who he liked because you liked him. You spoke before you realized you were doing it, and before you knew it the words had already left your wobbly lips in a shaky whisper.
“Zoro, I’m sorry. I like you.”
Hearing your trembling voice, Zoro turned around and walked over to stand a few steps away from you. You could feel his eyes on you and you’re sure he had questions, but you were also sure there were tears in your eyes; and so you were staring holes into the ground because the last thing you wanted now was for Zoro to see you cry.
Zoro’s voice was softer when he spoke, “I like you too. Are you alright? You know you can talk to me if something’s bothering you, right?” He didn’t know what was going on and your sudden change in behaviour only confused him even further.
Incredulous, you looked up to face him, brimming tears now forgotten. You wondered if you should let it pass since your tortured confession was wildly misunderstood by the swordsman who really had moss for brains at times but now that you’d come out and said it, you figured you might as well get it over and done with. It had taken you months to get this far, and the part of you that was sick playing pretend just wanted to let it all go to flames and see where the pieces fell in the aftermath. You weren’t sure if you could handle another day of acting like Zoro was just a friend to you and another night of going to bed wondering what it would be like if you had the courage to tell him how you felt.
“Zoro no, I like you," gathering courage you started tentatively with a shaky breath and hoped that this time the confession would go through. "I was, I was upset because Brook told us about Hiyori and you and then Luffy told us about Okiku-san and then she died the night of the fight and then- it was all a lot to process and- and I was jealous. And hurt. And I didn’t know how to handle it so I thought avoiding you would help because I didn’t know what else to do. I’m sorry, please don’t be mad at me.”
Your voice went back to a wobbly whisper by the end, and so you missed the way Zoro was looking at you. You’d looked up briefly at some point during your long-winded defense but you'd gone back to the comfort of staring at the ground, talking about this was hard enough. Was it because you'd seen the way Zoro's eyes had widened? Possibly, but you were shaking with nervousness and there was only so much you could admit to on a day when all you were planning to do was finish your book, really. Hearing you talk, his expression had gone through shock, mild distaste at hearing you thought he liked Okiku which immediately changed to a smirk as soon as he heard you say you were jealous. Right now, there was only half a smirk on his face because he was fighting a smile that was threatening to show up.
“Stupid woman, why didn’t you tell me?”
“What?”
“That you liked me." Your head shot up at that and all you could do was stare wordlessly at him as he continued, each next word causing another heartbeat to miss, leaving you with an anxiousness you felt bubbling in the depths of your chest. "Could’ve avoided all these tears if you’d told me earlier. ‘Cause I like you too.”
Your eyes widened hearing him and all of a sudden your brain went blank. All the questions you had for him disappeared and all you could do was look at Zoro wordlessly as he continued to speak.
“I turned Hiyori down because I told her I like someone else, have liked, for a long time now. It’s you, dummy. I like you. Now, will you stop crying? You’re kinda ruining the moment here.”
He gently flicked your forehead and you smacked his arm out of reflex with an offended squawk. A grin broke out on Zoro’s face, “There we go, that’s my girl. Glad to have you back, princess.”
A watery smile made its way onto your face but you were still trying to process what you'd just heard.
“You turned down Hiyori-san… for me? She’s the oiran," your voice faltered as you re-realized the reality.
“Yeah, so?"
"She's the most beautiful girl in all of Wano."
"Yeah well, I think you're prettier." Your eyes widened at his words, tears long halted, as you looked up at him in awe. Like you couldn’t believe the moment you're in is real. Zoro's hands cup your face, his face inches away from yours, as he asks under his breath, "Can I- can I kiss you?"
You nod as if in a daze and you feel his lips on yours immediately afterwards, hungry and hot. His other hand grabs your waist and pulls you closer to him in a single jerk and then he digs his fingers into the skin of your waist, holding you so tight it would've hurt had you been focusing on that instead of drinking his gasps and little groans in. Breaking away from the kiss and looking into Zoro's eyes, you saw a searing look in there that would've buckled your knees had he not been holding you. Tiptoeing, you pressed a shorter, chaste kiss onto his lips and hoped Zoro could feel what you were trying to say: thank you, thank you.
Pulling away, you make yourself comfortable in Zoro's hold, looping your arms around his neck and when you speak there's a twinkle in your eyes, "So… you had a crush on me, huh? That's embarrassing."
"Oi! You said you liked me first!"
You throw your head back and laugh, because yeah he's got you there but you've got him now so you can't be a sore loser. Not today, anyway.
BONUS:
It's late at night and you're lying next to Zoro on the deck, staring up at the sky. The remainder of the day was spent skirting around each other, sharing furtive glances and shy smiles when others weren't looking. Telling others hadn't come up yet but you'd be lying if you said you hadn't been thinking about what this meant for the both of you. With that thought still lingering, you piped up.
"Soo, does this mean we're dating?"
"Nope."
"What?! Why not?" you cried out in indignation and propped yourself up on your elbows to turn to him, offense painted all over your face.
"You still have to ask me out," Zoro pointed out.
"I confessed to you!"
"Exactly, that's why you have to ask me out."
"You-" The logic didn't make any sense but you of all people knew it was futile to argue with Zoro when he'd made up his mind. So you lay back down with a sigh, "Fine. Fine. Roronoa Zoro, will you be my boyfriend?"
You turn to him after you finish your question, staring into his eyes with only a slight glare, loving annoyance pricking your tone but you both know it's harmless. Zoro matches your stare with his own and doesn't speak but leans in closer towards you to close the gap with a kiss he hopes answers your question: a resounding yes. But just in case you hadn't received the message, he mumbles it softly against your lips, "You have no idea how long I've been waiting to say yes."

Note
Horrible idea, but:
Marineford au, in which everyone survived. (At least on whitebeards side. Something Something Marco awakening his devil fruit after seeing his family die around him)
Happy end, right?
Exept that Ace is going through major Angst because A) realization that the family he loves would (and could) have died because of him and B) the uprise of people trying to assassinate him.
No matter where he goes, everyone knows who and (more importantly) whose son he is.
He is seen as the son of the devil, a demon that shouldn't have been born
There isn't a place in the world where he is safe, no matter how much his family tries .
This!
So here’s the thing. I have always seen Ace survives Marineford as having this problem. Everyone now knows who he is.
The government wants him dead. His bounty is going to sky rocket and while we normally see that as a good thing it’s not because of any feat he has done. He hasn’t earned his bounty. And that would hurt. He’s tried his whole life to separate himself from his father and now all of his accomplishments are forever over shadowed by his blood.
It’s also dangerous because his abilities are now over stated (to the general public and other crews) we see in the show how people react to Luffy and the crews different bounties and how much they are treated like a threat or a joke. If Ace’s bounty sky rockets because of his connection to Roger and not his skill the people coming after him are planning to take down someone of let’s say Kaido’s strength and Ace isn’t there. (We are seeing this with Buggy and Cross Guild in the cannon where Buggy’s strength doesn’t match his bounty. And while we are making memes out of it the man has to be stressed)
The Whitebeard’s can try to shield him but they aren’t what they used to be. Even if Whitebeard survives they got out by the skin of their teeth and the arrival of Shanks. While Marineford is them fighting on enemy territory with a mass disadvantage it’s still going to effect the reputation. And even if Whitebeard loved he’s not fighting fit and the world knows that. Marcos and the crew can probably repeal some people but can they full shield Ace the way they could before the war? No.
In fact it would probably be a constant struggle for the next two years. Maybe at some point Ace disappears for a while but in reality he’s met up with Rayleigh and Luffy and joined in on training up his Haki. (And spending time with his little brother)
By the time Luffy and crew are ready to hit the sea again, Ace’s life is in constant danger. And remains so until Wano. Wano where his baby brother beats the pants off of Kaido and becomes the new emperor of the sea. The new emperor of the sea who has a very public tigh to Ace and has already destroyed Enies Lobby to get back one crew member, successfully broke into and out of Impel Down leading a large prison break to Marineford where he publicly declared Ace his brother and fought to save him once already.
Now it’s not the Whitebeard name shielding Ace but Luffy’s. It’s not being the son of the King of the Pirates that gives him infamy but being the brother of the future king of the pirates Monkey D. Luffy. Even if Luffy doesn’t publicly declare Ace as under his protection you would have to be stupid not to understand that these two would go to war for one another.
Honestly Whitebeard’s statues probably got downgraded depending on how badly they got their butts handed to them in the first place. They might join up as part of the Strawhat grand fleet. Whitebeard just wants to protect his kids and at this point he’s old, injured and not what he used to be. It Strawhat has already shown his loyalty to those that are his and Ace is already his.
Of Whitebeard can’t make a run for King of the Pirates anymore. Can’t protect his children and territories he might as well through his hat in with the person he knows is going to take care of them. Someone so much like Roger’s who believes in freedom above all else. (Shanks would be his second choice but the man has to many of his own plans. And it’s kind of obvious that Shanks has through his hat (or his arm) into Luffy’s ring long ago)
Now that’s idea one but idea 2
But this is where we get to have some fun with abilities, timelines, and shenanigans. Because let’s say Marcos’s phenixes ability when awakened is not just to heal but to burn away trauma for the point he can revive someone. When did the revival happen? Because if this happened at Marineford the Whitebeard’s get a second wind and can probably pull out a win in the fight. But everyone knows they survived and who Ace is.
If he does it after the fight. After Ace dies in front of Luffy and Luffy is whisked away. After the Whitebeards retreat. Looking over the bodies and grieving the loss, Marco unlocks his ability. Receiving Ace, Whitebeard, and the others, now we have some shenanigans.
Because Luffy doesn’t know that Ace is alive and Ace doesn’t know Luffy is alive. Maybe Ace lost his fruit maybe home didn’t but we can tackle that later.
The Whitebeards are hanging low until they get their strength back. No one in the government knows they survived and that’s the way it needs to stay. Until Luffy shows back up at Marineford to honor Ace.
Ace sees the news paper and he thought Luffy had died. He knew Jinbei had taken him away from the battle but no one could tell him where Luffy went or if he had survived his injuries. He wants to rush to Luffy and make sure his brother is okay. Marco has to tell him to slow down. If he races out and the world realizes he survived before he’s back at full strength he will just get captured again. But Ace is stubborn about seeing Luffy and making sure he’s okay.
They know he went to Marineford with Rayleigh so they use some connections to find the old man. He’s not about to tell them where Luffy is until Ace reveals himself. He agrees to take just Ace to see Luffy. After a reunion filled with tears Ace decides that the best way to build back up his strength is to stay and train with Luffy.
Now fruit? Did they keep their abilities? They technically died. So either yes they kept them, they lost them, or Marco restored their body and powers but the fruit also exist outside of them so two people can now have that ability. (Meaning Sabo can still get the Mera Mera and Blackbeard still gets Whitebeard’s fruit.) this is helpful to keep the story moving but also reinforcing the lie that the Whitebeards died.
If this is the case Ace and Luffy train their Haki and abilities together for two years. When Luffy is finally ready to burst back o to the scene so is Ace. Stronger than ever.
Again maybe the Whitebeard’s eventually join the grand fleet. If the world thought they were dead they don’t have their statues as emperor crew anymore but they would be a lot stronger in this version.
In both versions they Whitebeard’s help out with Wano and Ace and Sabo get to reunite.

The Daughter's Return: Part 5
Parting Ways
Part 1 | Part 6 | Table of Contents | Read this on A03
Characters: Ace x reader WordCount: 3.1k CW: alcohol, drunk reader, one quick drunken kiss
Whitey’s arm around you made it a little difficult to start the day. You had been awake for thirty minutes now, but you couldn’t bring yourself to move in fear of waking her up. She had been kind enough to let you sleep with her last night, the last thing you wanted to do was interrupt her rest even more.
“Y/N?” Whitey’s groggy voice broke through the silence, and you felt her shift.
“Morning,” you replied. “Sleep well?”
“Surprisingly, yes.” Whitey laughed. “You’d think two people in this tiny bed would make it hard to sleep. But it wasn’t bad. But why’d you end up here anyway?”
“I spilled beer all over my bed.” You had been thinking of a lie since you woke up, and it came effortlessly now.
Whitey gave a laugh at that and sat up in the bed. “Believe it or not, I’m actually really glad that happened.”
“Oh yeah?” you gave her a perplexed look. “Why’s that?”
She gave a nervous laugh and rubbed at her face. It was clear she had something to tell you, but she seemed to be working up the courage to do so.
You sat up, concerned at alert. “Whitey? Everything okay?”
“I was going to tell you,” Whitey said. Her voice was thick, like she might start crying. “I swear I meant to tell you the moment you got back, but things started happening so fast.”
“Whitey, tell me,” you insisted. “What’s wrong?”
“Look, don’t be mad, okay?”
“Whitey. Tell me.”
“I’m getting my own ship,” she said. “Becoming a Subordinate Captain. A few of us are getting our own crews. I’ve got a group of about 20 people.”
Your mouth fell open in shock. You weren’t sure what you expected Whitey to tell you, but you it wasn’t this. The two of you had dreams when you were younger about having your own pirate crew, but you had grown out of those dreams. You had just assumed she had as well.
“When are you leaving?” you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
Tears welled in her eyes. “Three days. We’re supposed to land on an island with a shipyard, and pops is giving us ships to send us on our way.”
Three days. That was all you had left with her. Your chest ached at the thought of not seeing her every day again. You had missed her the most while you had been in Wano.
“I really want this,” she said. “Need this, even. I’ve been talking with pops about it for a month or two, but I told him I wanted to wait until you got back before I left.”
“Where will you go?” you asked. You could feel a lump rising in your throat.
“Pops assigned me to protect a few islands back in Paradise with Brew and Epoida, so we’ll-”
“Brew and Epoida are leaving too?” you asked. You couldn’t help it now, your eyes started to water.
Whitey’s eyes got wide as she realized what she had just done.
“So everyone is just leaving?” you asked, tears starting to spill out now. You wiped them away, angry at yourself for getting so emotional.
“A lot has changed since you left,” Whitey said softly. Her hand reached out to comfort you, but you smacked it away.
“But we swore to stick together!” you said. You could feel your face growing hot, the magma churning beneath your skin.
“You can come with us,” Whitey offered. “You can join my crew.”
“I can’t,” you squeaked out. Even if your best friends were leaving, your family was still aboard the Moby Dick. You couldn’t abandon them.
“Look, Y/N, I know you feel like you have an obligation to your dad, but loyalty-”
“You don’t know anything about loyalty, Whitey,” you hissed, jumping up from the bed and storming out of the room.
You weren’t sure where your feet were taking you until you were at his door. Your fist slammed against the wooden door as tears fell from your eyes. The door opened a few moments later, and you didn’t even try to make yourself look presentable.
What a poor sight you must’ve been to Portgas D. Ace. You were standing there, sniffling and sobbing. You were still in your pajamas and hadn’t even bothered to brush your hair. Tears were running down your cheeks, and your eyes had to be red and puffy at this point.
And yet, when Ace saw you, he only looked at you with concern. He quickly scanned your body, looking for any signs of injury.
“Are you okay?” he asked, scanning your face. “Did someone hurt you?”
“Did you know?” you choked out, wiping the tears from your cheeks.
“Know about what?” he asked.
“Whitey,” you sobbed.
Ace sighed, running his hand through his hair, and he shut the door behind you so you could cry in public.
“The division commanders voted on the subordinate captains about a month ago. I knew her name was on the list.”
“You knew she was leaving and you didn’t tell me.”
Ace’s face was full of pain. “It wasn’t my news to share.”
You punched his chest. You heard him gasp in surprise, but you didn’t care. You punched him again. You wanted him to fight back, to yell at you, to do something. But he just stood there and took it. So you punched him harder.
“Stop it.” Ace flinched as your punches grew hotter. But you were so angry, you couldn’t stop. You punched him again.
Ace grabbed your wrist. “Y/N, stop,” he said more firmly.
You used your free hand and kept punching his chest until he grabbed that one too. You started squirming, trying to fight him, until he pulled you into his chest and wrapped his arms around you tightly, holding you in an embrace.
You stopped fighting then, and he held you as you cried into his chest. His hand rubbed your back, trying to soothe you.
“It’s not fair,” you cried.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered. “It’ll be okay, I promise.”
You weren’t sure how long you stayed there, but you didn’t pull away until you had stopped crying and your breath had steadied.
You wiped any remnants of tears from your cheeks. “That was embarrassing,” you sniffled, your voice still thick.
“You’re allowed to be upset,” Ace said. He grabbed a tissue and held it out for you.
“I just don’t want her to go.” Your vision started to blur again, and you blinked a few times to clear your eyes.
“It’s been her dream for a long time.”
You sniffed and wiped your eyes with the tissue. Ace was right. Whitey had always wanted to be a captain, ever since she joined the Whitebeard Pirates 7 years ago.
“It’s not like you’ll never see her again,” Ace continued. “Pops has always worked closely with his subordinate captains. I’m sure she’ll still be around. And you can still talk to her on the transponder snail.”
“We should have a going away party,” you said softly.
“Try to say that with a little more enthusiasm, maybe?”
His comment made you laugh, and he smiled in return.
You sighed. “I need to apologize to her.”
“Probably.”
You turned to go find Whitey, already trying to think of what you’d say to her. As you opened the door, you realized you should say something else to Ace before you left.
“Ace?” You turned back to him as you walked out. “Thanks for letting me beat you up.”
Ace gave a cheeky smile. “Anytime, love.”
Love. That’s what he had called you. Love. You had left before he had a chance to see your reaction, but you could feel your body steaming, and the air smelled of burnt hair. Your burnt hair. He was a smooth bastard, and you hated that you loved it. But now wasn’t the time to focus on your stupid commander. You had to apologize to Whitey.
You found Whitey in your bunkhouse, packing up her things. When she realized it was you, she froze, trying to decide what she should say or do.
You decided for her. You rushed to her, wrapping her in a hug. “I’m sorry,” you said, blinking away fresh tears. “I’m so happy that you get to live your dream.”
“No, I’m sorry!” Whitey cried. “That was a really shitty way to tell you.”
“It’s okay, I promise.” you pulled away from her and wiped at your eyes. “I was just being selfish. God, I’m going to miss you, Whitey.”
“I’m going to miss you!” She was wiping tears from her own face as well. “I wish this was easier.”
“We’re going to have a goodbye party,” you said. “For you and all the other new subordinate captains.”
Whitey laughed and returned to packing her suitcase. “One of your parties is the last thing we need,” she said.
“I have two days to plan it.” You smiled mischievously. “Prepare yourself.”
“Y/N!” Whitey called after you as you bolted out the room. “Don’t go over the top!”
The next two days went by in a whirlwind. You spent your days begging and bargaining crew members for booze, ordering the chefs to make the most decadent meals, and hanging decorations you had made.
When a strategist plans a party, they think of everything. Which is why your parties were always so notorious for getting out of hand. You thought of drinking games, picked out the perfect musicians, and always had a backstock of alcohol. You hadn’t planned a party in years, but it’s clear that it’s reputation had lived on while you were gone.
As the sun was setting, the deck was so crowded with people that it was hard to move around. You were always touching someone, and it became almost claustrophobic to stand. You chose to leave the main deck area and headed towards the bow of the ship, trying desperately to escape the crowds. You found a spot where you could stand without touching someone else, and leaned against the railing to watch the sunset, enjoying your drinking.
“Hey!” Whitey called, stumbling over to you. She was already drunk, though that was partially your fault. One tankard of ale did a lot more to her than it did to you. “Come back to the party!”
“I will. Just enjoying the sunset for a moment.”
Whitey pouted. “You plan this whole big party and you’re not even enjoying yourself.”
You smirked, staring at the sea. If you looked at Whitey, you were fairly certian you would break out into tears. “Are you enjoying yourself?”
“Of course! But you should have fun too!”
It was kind of hard to enjoy yourself when your best friend was leaving. You had been diligent in pushing that fact out of your brain, but now as you watched the sunset, you realized this would be the last one you’d share with Whitey for a long time.
“Can we just be sad while we watch the sunset?” you asked, tears starting to rise.
Whitey wrapped her arm around you and leaned her head on your shoulder. “I’m kind of scared to be a captain,” she admitted, her eyes watching the sun slowly sink behind the water.
“New people, new horizons,” she said. “What if I make the wrong call? I won’t have Pops to back me up. It’s scary to think that I’m going to be alone.”
“You won’t be alone, though. You’ve got a lot of good, trustworthy people to back you up.”
“Yeah.” Whitey didn’t say anything more until the sun was almost gone from view. “You’ve got good people here too. Make sure you don’t isolate yourself. Do stuff with them. Have fun. Okay?”
“Alright.” You wiped the tears from your cheeks and finished off the rest of the ale in your tankard. “Let’s party.”
“Yeah!” Whitey cheered. She grabbed your hand and pulled you back to the party. People had seemed to spread out a bit more now, and it was easier to breathe and move around.
Shots of liquor were your least favorite way to get drunk, but it was the fastest. Still, you found yourself questioning the choices that led you to this moment, where you were lined up facing five large shot glasses of rum. You had already won the game once, and you could feel the alcohol starting to flow through your veins.
“Whitey, are you trying to make me puke?”
Whitey stuck her tongue out at you. “Did your time abroad soften you?” she taunted.
“Whitey-”
“Who will challenge her?!?” Whitey declared, holding up your arm as if you had just won a boxing match.
You looked around the crowd and found Ace and Marco, watching your predicament with smirks. You shook your head and mouthed “Save me” to them, but they only laughed at your misfortune.
“I’ll do it!” a voice called out, someone shuffling through the crowd.
“A challenger has appeared!” Whitey yelled, dropping your arm and allowing your to return to your station.
A young man appeared, one you didn’t recognize. If you had to guess, he was about your age, maybe a little older. He had red hair and piercing blue eyes that were full of rebellion and spunk. He was cocky too, because he looked at you and winked, and you almost looked away from him in embarrassment.
He was handsome, you had to admit. You weren’t sure how you had missed his presence since you had gotten back. He seemed a bit too over the top for your liking, but he was the kind of guy who would make a good drinking buddy.
“Uzzo,” he said, holding out his hand.
You took it, giving it a firm shake. You opened your mouth to introduce yourself, but he cut you off.
“Don’t worry, darling.” He brought your hand up to his lips and kissed your skin, shocking you into silence. “I know who you are.”
You quickly yanked your hand away, trying to push down the bubbling feeling you were getting in your stomach.
“You know the rules folks, first to finish all five shots wins!”
“What do I get if I win?” Uzzo asked, looking at you mischievously.
You rolled your eyes, tired of this long introduction. You wanted to get drunk already. “Bragging rights. Now get ready.”
Uzzo frowned, humming in disappointment. “How about a kiss instead?”
You laughed in his face. “Ask me again if you win.”
He smirked, satisfied with your response. You both readied yourself, and then looked to Whitey.
“Ready, Set, Go!” she cried, throwing her hand up in the air to start the race.
You were winning until the fourth cup. You heard Ace laugh from the crowd, and your concentration broke as your eyes searched for him. He was there, laughing with Marco. His arm was wrapped around a girl’s shoulder, and you could feel your stomach churning with envy at him being so close to someone else.
You barely started your fifth cup by the time Uzzo finished. He watched you down the fifth cup as the crowd cheered for his victory.
“So,” he said, watching you place down your last cup. “How about that-”
You didn’t wait for him to finish. You grabbed his shirt and pulled him across the table, your lips smashing into his. You could hear the crowd freeze mid applause, everyone surprised by your actions. But you made out with this stranger in front of a crowd, not caring who saw. A piece of you even hoped certain people would see you.
Blame it on alcohol, blame it on jealousy, blame it on wanting to wipe that smug look off his face. It didn’t matter why you did it. You didn’t even like it all that much. You had kissed several boys before this one. He wasn’t anything special.
You finally pulled away, and saw you had succeeded in your goal. His cocky grin was replaced with shocked, widened eyes. You could see the crowd watching you, and you resisted the urge to look over at Marco and Ace.
“Congrats on your win,” you said. You gave him a quick wink and turned and walked away without another word.
“Holy shit,” Uzzo murmured behind you, and the entire crowd erupted into cheers once more. At least you looked confident, even if you didn’t feel that way.
You went to find a keg of beer, needing to wash down all the rum you had just consumed. The ten double-shots you had just taken were starting to catch up. Fast.
“You are quite the graceful loser,” Marco said, taking your cup from your hand and filling it up at the keg.
“Marco! I haven’t seen you in forever!”
“It’s only been two days.”
You clutched your chest overdramatically. “So long. It’s been so painful.”
Marco chuckled. “You’re very drunk.”
You took your drink back from him, nodding enthusiastically. “Blame Whitey.”
“Looks like she’s having a good time at least,” Marco said, his eyes watching your friend. “You threw a good party.”
“Hey Marco, I couldn’t find-” Ace stopped talking when he realized you were standing with his fellow commander.
“Ace,” you said, your lip pouting out at his name.
“You take over keg duty, I’ll go look,” Marco said, quickly passing the spout to Ace and bolting away.
“Hey! Marco!” Ace called after him, but Marco was already gone.
There was an awkward silence that hung in the air. If you were sober, you would’ve let it hang there. But drunk you was a lot more chatty.
“Are you enjoying the party?” you asked, looking at Ace.
“It’s fine.”
“Just fine?! Rude!” you scoffed. “I worked hard on this party!”
“Then you should go enjoy it,” Ace snapped. “Don’t you have a boyfriend to entertain?”
“I don’t have a boyfriend.” You rubbed your tankard against your cheek, giggling. “Just booze.”
“Could’ve fooled me,” Ace mumbled, grabbing a guy's drink and refilling it for him.
Your eye twitched. “What’s your problem?”
“Nothing.” He was managing to look everywhere else on the ship but at you.
You scowled and stepped in front of him to block his view. You could feel your skin growing hot with your anger. “If you have a problem with-”
“Hey!” Marco cheered, and you turned to see him. “Come on! We're playing Commanders and Strategists up on the roof of the Captain’s Quarters!”
You squealed in excitement, already forgetting your squabble with Ace. Whitey’s reminder rang in your ears. You refused to isolate yourself. You had always loved Commanders and Strategists, so you took off towards the roof of the Captain’s Quarters, eager to see what kind of trouble you could get into next.

Note
thank you, you’re the best. I will keep it short.
I wrote this to someone because I disagree with shuggy being great story in canon. But I thought longer and it turned out into more thoughts. First I do enjoy shuggy. I like them more as brothers and I like crocbug more. But I do like shuggy art sometimes.
Most of the story of shuggy is buggy being constantly angry at shanks. Every scene is just him being bitter, while shanks is chill. He’s angry because he’s not like shanks and blames himself for it. But shanks can’t help with that. It’s not abusive but you know how some DC fan are saying how joker is not harley LI but her origin story? I think it’s shuggy. Shanks is buggy begging. The have this bond but it’s over and not useful. What is left is buggy obsession which has to end. It’s without shanks reaction.
And both of those characters have more interesting and impactful relationships with other characters around them. Mostly shanks. He has people around him that are not jealous of him and are EQUAL. And buggy been replaced I think on purpose. Benn Beckman is there to be this close support that buggy could never be. Mihawk is rival, like buggy was in younger years but he’s meaningful to challenge shanks with respect and push him forward. Both of them make shanks better and fill those roles buggy couldn’t.
Buggy is just starting his bonds. He now has cross guild. And we know they’re gonna be for buggy in the future.
What do you think? I read OP many times and I think it does make sense and that is how the story will go. But you can call me out if you disagree. I respect you.
Woah, this is a long one! I just want to say, firstly, that you are entitled to your interpretations of Shanks and Buggy's relationship. However, I think you are going about this in a strange way. A bond is not measured by its usefulness, and claiming that Buggy has been "replaced" shows that you are viewing their dynamic from a distanced, almost utilitarian perspective; this isn't wrong, per se, but you are talking about characters who are meant to be people. And most people are irrational, emotional creatures who don't view their friendships as something profitable or disadvantageous. Buggy cannot be replaced by anyone, because Buggy is not a role to be filled in Shanks' life. Buggy was always just Buggy to Shanks. They were not friends because they only saw each other as useful. I think their interactions during the Wano flashback show that pretty clearly.
To address your point about Shanks and Buggy not being equals, though, I think this is a topic Oda has intentionally laid out, as it directly relates to Buggy's narrative. Buggy is someone who yearns to be seen as an equal -- just look at his reaction in Marineford when Whitebeard addresses him. (The blush is so cute, lmao.)
Tumblr media
Buggy's insecurities are also the reason I believe he chose not to follow Shanks; my post here elaborates, but to sum it up neatly, Buggy immediately assumed he'd be working "under" Shanks, when Shanks only asked for Buggy to stay by his side. I truly think Shanks has always viewed Buggy as his equal -- it's just a matter of Buggy realizing that.
Tumblr media
At this point in the story, they are more balanced than ever: both emperors with massive influence, albeit in different ways. As Buggy says himself, they are "on equal footing again." So, when you say their relationship has been unequal in parts, I don't disagree -- but that's not a flaw. That's intentional. It's an explicit aspect of the way their dynamic is written. It's a major source of their miscommunication.
Tumblr media
Cross Guild is also currently a relationship in Buggy's life, but we don't exactly know where it's going. I would absolutely love it if Mihawk and Crocodile began to believe in Buggy and support him -- mostly because it would be hilarious -- but as of now, it is nowhere near a genuine bond. It is strictly business, and ironically, deeply unequal in terms of power dynamics. Buggy has only flipped the script on them recently, starting in chapter 1082, so we have to wait and see how that progresses.
At the end of the day, it's your opinion -- you can view Buggy's relationship with Shanks as uninteresting, and that's totally fine! But the lens with which you view their dynamic could use some adjusting. Your complaints stem from personal tastes, not fundamental problems with Shanks and Buggy's narrative.

A head pops up on the other side of Straw Hat; the last of the fading sunlight refracts off Roronoa’s earrings, winking at her. “Oh,” he says, sounding only mildly surprised to see her. “You’re here too.”
“What are you talking about? What’s going on?”
Roronoa grins. “Yeah. He does this.”
Nami props herself up a little higher on her already bruising elbow. Straw Hat’s got an arm wrapped around Roronoa, same as her, pinning him to his other side.
“Okay,” Nami says, feeling her third headache in as many hours beginning to creep up. “What is this?”
“How he sleeps, I guess. Been doing it since we started sailing together.”
“You’re joking.”
Roronoa shrugs.
“Well, how do we get him to let go?”
“Dunno. Haven’t figured that part out yet,” Roronoa says and then, because he’s no help at all, lays back down.

Sanji is carefully placing a cherry on top of the ice cream, his hands nimble, soft, almost—gentle. But all Zoro sees is the way the hems of his pants are still soaked in blood from an earlier skirmish with a marine ship, red seeping into the cracks on the floorboard, spattering across the kitchen floor in a slow drip, drip, drip.
Zoro stares, fascinated. He can’t bring himself to look away.

Sanji tilts his head back so that it rests against the dirty wall behind him. He’s still upright, somehow, through sheer stubbornness or spite. He doesn’t look like someone who only has tonight left to live. In fact, he looks sharp. There’s no better word for it. His expression is still as peaceable as it has been since he arrived, but watching him is like watching a knife slide out of its sheath. He is, abruptly, dangerous. A tool made for cutting.

Mihawk is terrifying before he is beautiful, but Shanks isn’t afraid of him, and Mihawk is so fucking pretty. The dim glow filtering in through the windows is beginning to tinge warm, reminding Shanks that they’re on borrowed time; he glances at the clock and decides. He reaches over before Mihawk can straighten and curls his fingers around the shell of his ear.
“Hey.”
Mihawk stills and looks at him from the corner of his eye, barely turning his head. The bottle is in his hand, and Shanks trails his fingers down Mihawk’s jaw to take the liquor from him and set it down on the table.

hi idk if anyone already asked about this I was wondering what are your thoughts on yandere poly Sanji and Luffy ?
Hello, hello, hello! Nah, I believe that you’re the first one to ask about the two of them together which is by no means a bad thing as I’m really happy that you did, dear!
Honestly I love the idea of Luffy and Sanji together as I’m a big LuSan shipper like I even have a fankid for them but at the same time, I love polyamourous straw hats (minus Chopper as he’s a baby) in general but we’ll save the polyamourous straw hats for another day when I feel more confident about writing them all together
For now! We’ll focus on Yandere Sanji and Yandere Luffy together in a nice happy polyamourous relationship with you!
Let’s get into it, shall we?
!-MINORS DO NOT INTERACT AT ALL-!
!-POTENTIAL TRIGGER WARNINGS-!
Kidnapping, Violence, Isolation, Forced Touches, Bathing with a Yandere, SPOILERS FOR WANO, Jealousy, Forced Intimacy
!-POTENTIAL TRIGGER WARNINGS-!
!-MINORS DO NOT INTERACT AT ALL-!
So honestly, the two of them together is bound to more than likely be quite chaotic no matter what kind of scenario you might be in like no matter the AU or if there even Yandere’s to be honest
You have Luffy’s chaotic nature that was probably the entire reason that you were snatched up so quickly and taken to the Thousand Sunny to be part of his crew
And then you have Sanji whose an all around gentlemen who was more than likely trying to subtly coerce you into joining the crew before Luffy just snatched you up like it was nobodies business and made you join
Honestly I don’t think that you’re ever going to get any quiet alone time with the two of them as if Sanji isn’t fawning over you and doing anything to make your life just the slightest bit more comfortable then Luffy is there wanting to play a game with you or do something fun in general
You’re never really able to have any quiet alone time and if you somehow manage to find a good hiding spot then it’s not going to last long as they both will be metaphorically ripping apart the ship looking for you until they either find you or a crew mate rats you out
When this happens, you’ll have Luffy’s arms wrapped you multiple times in a hug as he gleefully shouts “Found you!” while Sanji hangs off of you crying asking what he did wrong for you to run away from them like this
If you truly need some alone time though then you could ask Sanji for it, he’ll keep Luffy away from you the best that he can while you take a deep breath and try to enjoy some alone time but don’t expect much as Sanji will constantly be poking his head in to check on you and ask if you need absolutely anything
You can shout at him to leave you alone buh now Sanji looks heartbroken and Luffy is upset with you for making your other partner cry so now you get no alone time and you’re in trouble
In all honesty when it comes to punishing you for being bad then I can honestly imagine that Sanji is much more gentle with what he does like this man can barely bring himself to scold you
While Luffy on the other hand is more willing to punish you like if you’ve done something wrong like attempt to spike the crew’s food with something to give you a better chance at escape from them or made Sanji cry then that’s when he’ll punish you
He will shout at you for doing that and in all honesty, I feel like Luffy despite not being the smartest guy could make you feel absolutely awful for what you did
And if you continue to do stuff like this then I can’t say that you’re not going to wind up in some serious trouble like I’m talking physical punishment
Sanji would never allow Luffy to hurt you in any shape or form so don’t worry but what makes these punishments physical is that it’s basically being locked up in your shared room with them. No interaction with anyone but them
And if you don’t trying to escape after that then say hello to a chain that will keep you bound to their bed until you either have spent enough time in your punishment according to Sanji or until you have shown a genuine change in your behavior
You could try to trick them but I don’t see that going well for you as even if they fall for it, there’s always the chance that once you’re let out. Another member of the crew will point out that nothing has changed and boom!
Right back to punishment…
Also as well I can see like how they met you was probably through typical straw hat stuff like they arrive on an island, they find out there’s a problem typically consisting of corrupt marines or bad pirates then they wind up helping
Maybe like you were someone that the enemy took and is keeping like “Well aren’t you a pretty thing?” or “If anyone tries to fight us then this person is dead!!”
And the person who got them to help was like your friend or something, they showed Sanji and Luffy a picture of you and you know those moments where it’s like love at first sight? That’s what happens for Sanji at least while Luffy does feel drawn to you
After everything is said and done, that’s when they spend some time on the island just chilling and maybe partying too with the islanders as “Woo hoo!! The enemy is gone!! Yay!!” and all that
And it’s during this time is when they’d get closer to you, they’d spend time with you during the party like you’d laugh when Sanji kicks Luffy for stealing your food and when Luffy steals you away from his partner by grabbing you and zipping off
Both are clearly trying to spend as much time as they possibly can with you like it’s so obvious that it isn’t even funny but you don’t pay it any mind other than that you were just a hostage that they had to save and protect so they’re probably just trying to make sure you’re okay
You are correct on that part but you’re missing a few details like them wanting to keep you for themselves and take you on a high seas adventure with them to find the One Piece
If you don’t have any skills then that’s fine by them as Sanji won’t mind a little help in the kitchen now and again especially if it means that he gets to spend more time with you although he is just about doing everything for you
And besides Luffy could always do with another member of Pirate Royalty
So when they leave, that’s when Sanji tries to be all gentlemanly with you and offer you to join the Straw Hats like straight up trying to offer you his arm so you can come with them
If that doesn’t work and you say no then he’ll try to insist but trust me if Luffy gets impatient about you joining then that’s when he’ll swoop in and lift you over his shoulder to rush off
Probably while laughing too
Sanji is honestly the kind of Yandere as well to attempt to win your affections as he sees how you don’t accept his invitations for affection
So this man will definitely try and win you over in whatever way that he can like he is making all of your favorite foods and doing his absolute best to be as romantic as possible with you
Little loving gestures and things like that like he straight up memorizes your schedule to get everything ready for you before you need it like you’ll be heading to get cleaned up and he’ll already be there having drawn a bath
Probably offering to wash your back for you too
If you didn’t know any better then you would say that he wasn’t a Yandere but it’s hard to forget when on the occasion that he takes you off the ship with him, he tries and more than likely succeeds at cracking the skull of any man who speaks to you
If you didn’t hold him back or distract him then he might even take the life of any man who stares at you too long…
Luffy on the other hand probably acts like he already has your affection and love whole heartedly like he doesn’t even seem to realize that you’re fighting him whenever he wraps you up in a hug or tries to plant a messy kiss on the side of your face
He is wholeheartedly convinced that you love him and Sanji just like how they love you, you just don’t show it
Don’t get him wrong though as if you do try to leave them then he’s absolutely not okay with that, he’s still convinced that you love them but you need to be reminded to not leave them and you just need a reminder of where you belong which leads to the punishments
I don’t think Luffy would get too jealous if someone talked to you but he would try to butt into a conversation like throwing his arm around your shoulders in a seemingly playful manner or moving himself to be as in between you and your conversation partner
He will look so offended as well if you move him or remove his arm from you… He’ll also just put his arm right back around you or go right back to where he was
As for intimacy?
God, I wish you luck trying to take the both of them at once as they’re both incredibly strong Pirate men… Sanji won’t be too rough until he really starts getting into it but Luffy is rough enough to compensate
Aftercare is a thing, Sanji’s aftercare is definitely more traditional with cuddles and soft kisses. Probably a bath too but Luffy’s aftercare typically involves getting something good to eat
As for Intimacy in Gear 5? Imagine a giant sun god man with cartoon physics mashing two dolls together to make them have sex… That’s probably what some of it would be like
Other times though, I can imagine that Luffy has you on your knees next to Sanji who’s also on his knees and just licking Luffy’s cock looking totally peaceful with it too
Meanwhile you’re definitely not into this as these are your captors but if push comes to shove and Luffy notices that he isn’t getting as much love from you as he is Sanji
Then he might just shrink his cock down to manageable size and shove it down your throat with a “Stop ignoring me!”

Finding You
A/N: Guys I'm here and I'm so sorry I'm a week late with this. I got a new job after losing mine a few months ago so things have been hectic lately with my schedule. All I can say is sometimes adulting SUCKS but I love money so 😭🤑
A lovely reader on AO3 had helped me realise there was an anomaly with the timeline of how Y/N and Zoro meet and all so I went through it and I thought I would go through this:
Y/N's flashback of Zoro sleeping in the forest in Chapter 3 was when they were 15 so its actually 7 years ago and not 4 years ago. I've edited this and amended the story you tell Zoro slightly in Chapter 5 to correct this so my apologies for not finding this sooner. I wanted to show that she had a crush on him before they officially met after he rescued her in the alley. They then turn 16, graduate school and then Zoro asks her out. They date till 18, get engaged and marry at 19. Zoro disappears a few days after this and you spend the 2, almost 2 and a half years looking for him so he's 21 and your 21.
Its sometime after Wano and Egghead doesn't exist in this "dimension" when you find him in Chapter 1 so they're just cruising right now. I wanted to match the actual One Piece ages he was before and after timeskip.
I hope this has helped clarify if anyone else was confused of the timeline but please do enjoy this chapter. Because of my new job, I'll do my very post to work and post in a timely manner. Thank you for everyones patience and support with me.

Chapter Eight Previous Next “Zoro? You okay?”
“i-I have to go, m’sorry.”
That was the last thing he said to you a week ago in the Crows Nest. You had gone through every single possible reason for why he suddenly would switch up the way he did which left you nowhere near to a conclusive answer. You were sure you’d done absolutely nothing but at the same time doubted yourself and wondered if you had done something unconsciously.
Since then, he'd practically been living in the Crows Nest. He never ate in the galley anymore, never came on the deck to hang around with anyone and you weren’t even sure if he was sticking with his once a week baths. Every time you tried to seek him out, you noticed the hint of stress in his face and would walk away in the opposite direction. Thankfully you weren’t the only one who noticed the swordsman's strange behaviour.
“Marimo is really starting to piss me off, can you believe he’s making me bring his meals to him like I’m some waiter?!” Sanji spat with annoyance as he piled nourishment onto Zoro’s breakfast plate. You knew Zoro wouldn’t have asked Sanji for food, you just understood Sanjis code of ethics when it came to making sure that every member of the crew was properly fed and nourished. You appreciated him for it.
You were one of the few who remained in the galley after breakfast, sitting with Jinbe and Usopp who were finishing off their own meals. You’d leaned forward to sit your chin on your forearms as you traced the rim of your coffee cup with your finger caught in a net of progressive overthinking of the enigma that was your husband.
“Has he really not said anything?” Usopp asked Sanji, the cook turning to face them, the plate in his hand piled high in mostly eggs, sausages and toast.
“Not a word. I swear the algae on his heads really taken over his brain.” Sanji cursed before leaving the galley, chewing on his unlit cigarette.
“Isn’t this normal for Zoro? I mean he is pretty quiet.” Jinbe asked Usopp. Since Jinbe was the most recent crewmate to join Luffy and the crew before you, it was understandable he would ask. You would have agreed with Jinbe on the fact Zoro was quiet, however, you knew better than to mistake this for just his regular self.
“When something is bothering him, he shuts down. He avoids everyone, he won’t talk, he’ll just isolate. I just can’t figure out what's bothering him.” You grumbled out before lifting your cup to take a gulp of your coffee. Setting the cup down, you realised you couldn’t hear either of them talking anymore and turned to see them both staring at you with wide eyes.
“Has he really never done this in front of you guys?” You questioned the gaping pair with a raised brow slightly mocking their owlish stares back. Jinbe shook his head as expected whereas Usopp's gaze drifted off behind you in thought. You assumed he was revisiting his album of memories with the swordsman.
“Well…there was the time on Thriller Bark when he shut himself away to train but it wasn’t anything like this.” Usopp answered cautiously, his mouth slightly turned down in slight distress. This caught your attention and your heart filled with anxiety.
“What happened?” You asked, unconsciously frowning. Usopp's gaze refocused back to yours, adjusting himself uncomfortably in his seat as he seemed hesitant to retell the story. Nonetheless, he sighed before clearing his throat to speak.
“We were on Thriller Bark where we met Brook. Brook was stuck on his old crew's ship and he couldn’t leave because his shadow being taken by the ex-warlord Gecko Moria.”
“Brook has a shadow?” You asked in surprise trying to suppress a laugh. You valued Brook as a crew member despite his panties fetish. Thankfully Nami always stepped in after he asked to put him in his place.
“I don’t even know anymore, ANYWAYS ....we managed to defeat him but another ex-warlord named Kuma came for us.We don’t know what exactly happened because Kuma knocked us out but we know Zoro got really hurt. He was unconscious for a few days after that. I think at the time we underestimated them but knowing him, he blamed himself for not being strong enough.”
Usopp clarified, his tone laced with guilt. Your heart ached at the idea of Zoro being that severely injured to that extent. You knew he didn’t care as long as he met his goal in the end even if you did reprimand him on his mentality many times over the years you both dated. You had eventually accepted it and you didn’t want to stand in his way.
“Let's just give him space and see what happens.” You spoke assuringly to the two despite your chest hammering with the anxiety of unsurety.
One Week Later
Two weeks had passed since you last heard Zoro's voice. The patient person you were two weeks ago was buried deep inside and now your patience was wearing thin along with your paranoia running rampant. You couldn’t take the silence anymore and neither could the rest of the crew.
It was the afternoon and Nami had called everyone in for a crew meeting on deck, including Zoro who had unsuccessfully attempted to blend into the background. Your eyes has locked in on him from the moment you walked in and spotted green. You also saw the obvious attempt he made to avoid looking your way as he chose to focus his gaze on the wall behind Nami.
‘Just what was so interesting about the wall you fucker?’ You thought to yourself as you leaned back in your chair in observation.
“Right guys, I called this meeting in because I came across information that there's an island nearby rumoured to have a fuck ton of treasure. We gotta make a game plan.” Nami excitedly spoke, the berries practically beaming out of her eye sockets. Reluctantly, you took your eyes away from Zoro to focus on Nami.
For about an hour, she went over and planned in detail how to navigate the island, showing you and the others the maps and other sources of information from a book she read detailing the treasure and its history.
“I also decided that not all of us can go on the island so I’m picking Zoro and Y/N to stay behind on the ship.” Nami added. From the corner of your eye, you noticed Zoro stiffen before clearing his throat to speak up.
“I’m coming with you guys, have Sanji stay on the ship with Y/N.” Zoro spoke in a low, reserved manner clearly disguising his obvious discomfort towards you. It was the first time you’d heard his voice in two weeks but hearing the words he chose only had you gritting your teeth. You took a deep breath in and decided that at that moment you couldn’t take anymore.
He had drawn your last straw.
“Oh Y/N-chan, I’d love to-” You cut off Sanji as you stood up from your seat, the feet of the chair roughly scraping against the floor boards as you paced your steps towards Zoro to now stand strong in front of him. You felt the intense gaze of the others on you but ignored it, the anger you felt overpowered your rationality.
“Whats your fucking problem?” You spat out as you looked up at him.
This caught him off surprise. You could see he was trying to shift away from you but you weren’t going to allow him to get out of this. You moved in tandem with him whenever he attempted to get away from you only to have him give up and stay glued to the wall behind him.
“I ain’t got no problem-”
“Bullshit. You’ve been avoiding me for the past two weeks. In fact, you’ve been avoiding ALL of us.”
“You’re being dramatic.”
“No I’m fucking not.” You somehow got even closer, your chest practically touching his as you felt his body heat against you.
“She's really not Zoro, did something happen between you two?” Nami asked cautiously behind you.
“Did I do something?”
He could see you were frustrated with him and he could see he was only hurting you more than he wanted to.
‘I’m sorry….’ He thought as he looked at you, the guilt overwhelming him.
Whilst he didn’t appreciate the questioning from you and the heavy gazes of everyone, he will admit he had isolated himself from you. It wasn’t because you did anything to him personally and it wasn’t because he started rejecting your presence on the ship; by far you'd been patient with him by letting him be. The persistent questioning he got from the others, especially the shitty cook despite being appreciative of him bringing his meals to him only to be met with silence from him only fueled his guilt. Since the discovery of his feelings for you, he felt overwhelmed. Being around you distracted him. He felt the want to be with you but at the same time, his mind shielded him from you as if he was protecting himself from you. He prided himself in being strong minded and he felt frustrated with himself over how he could possibly feel this way when he prided himself in being strong minded. He could only theorise that this mental block with you had to do with the guy who’d wiped his memory.
‘Was his named Edward? Ethan? Whatever, it didn’t matter.’
He knew he was being a dick by staying away from you but he didn’t know what else to do. The moment he accepted his feelings for you, he’d also accepted what felt like an overwhelming burden in his stomach. He felt panic, a feeling he hadn’t felt in a long time. He left you in the Crows Nest, remembering the feeling of not being able to breathe. This was why Zoro did not do feelings; they were complicated.
“You didn’t do anyth-”
“Then why have you been avoiding me?” You persistently questioned, the frustration brimming in your eyes.
“I’m done with this, I’m leaving.” He felt his heart climbing up into his throat with you being so close to him.
“Oh no you don’t, you’re not getting out of this one.”
You made an impulse decision out of anger. With your free hand, you summoned a hole behind Zoro. You pictured the very island where you spent time training yourself with your devil fruit, knowing it was quiet and you wouldn’t be disturbed. The hole behind him had formed and Zoro had realised too late he was no longer leaning against solid and fell through the smoke of clouds that enveloped him.
You turned to the others who were gaping at you in shock. Even Luffy stayed glued to his seat with no attempt to jump through the cloud of smoke.
“I’ll bring him back tomorrow.” You huffed out before going through the hole yourself.
As you landed in the sand of the island, you looked up to see the hole you summoned. You then looked around to see your surroundings. The island hadn’t changed one bit; the wave of nostalgia hit as you breathed in the smell of the sand and sea, the lingering scent of greenery coming from the forest coming into the mix as well. If you looked around again, you’d be able to find the rock you carved the last date you were here before leaving to continue your search for Zoro.
You purposefully summoned the hole on the empty side of the island, choosing to leave the small population of habitants to the other side undisturbed. They were peaceful people and had even shared a few meals with you from time to time whenever a few of them found you exhausted from exertion after training. They knew you well and that you didn’t pose a threat, choosing to peacefully coexist with them.
Once closed, the anger still ever present in your system you looked around to spot Zoro sitting in the sand as he looked around taking his surroundings.
“Wh-where are-?”
“You gonna talk or what?” You aggressively asked.
Zoro was now angry. He didn’t want to fight with you, he just wanted to piece together his feelings and rebuild his courage to be around you. He wasn’t ready to face you and being here with you only made him feel worse.
He stood up from the sand and stomped over to stand over you, pushing the bile from his thumping heart back down his throat.
“What…the FUCK…were you thinking? Why would you do that? Do you realise without me there, you’ve put the others in danger? Take us back NOW.”
“First of all, step the fuck back and calm down. Second of all, they’ll be fine. Third of all, were not going anywhere until we sort whatever the fucks gone up your ass and died.” You said as you matched his energy.
“Fuck this, I’m out.” Zoro refused to admit anything. He couldn’t. He turned away from you and began walking.
“Roronoa Zoro, come back here now.” You ordered him as you followed behind.
“No. Piss off.” He called back as he continued stomping.
“Zoro, stop.” You shouted, your voice almost broke as your anger now turned into hurt.
“Leave me alone Y/N.”
“WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?” You now cried out. You couldn’t stop the tears and the lump in your throat as you stared at his back.
Zoro stopped at the sound of your voice breaking. He frowned at the thought of you upset, his heart ached but he couldn’t turn around.
“I’m not doing anything to you Y/N. I just need space.” He spoke regretfully before he continued walking again and turned left heading into the forest. You stood still as you watched him walk away.
“Fuck.” You whispered to yourself, taking your palm to rub against your forehead in frustration and then using the back of your hand to wipe your tears away. You hated crying, you’d always felt so weak. No matter how much you try to control it, the tears always win. You decided to sit, digging yourself further into the sand before leaning back to let it envelop you.
You breathed in, allowing yourself to take in the sound of the waves crashing against the damp sand. You didn’t realise how much you missed being back on land. You loved being on the Sunny, you really did but sometimes allowing yourself to be grounded for a bit always helped.
You let your hands moved with the sand, feeling the softness of it between your fingers. You clenched the sand into your palms finding the action soothing and allowing the anger you’d felt seep into each particle.
What were you going to do with Zoro?
————————————- ⚔️✨ ————————————
A few hours had passed and you found yourself waking up from a nap you had unconsciously taken. You noticed the sun was beginning to lower, you predicted you had a few hours left before nightfall. You sighed before getting up from the sand, swiping off the residue of sand that was left on your clothes and turned to face the direction Zoro left you from. You were grateful the island was small and you knew it  wouldn’t take you long to track down the lost swordsman.
As you were about to start walking, you felt a presence lurking near you. You stiffened before smiling and realising there was more than one and posed no danger.
“How long have you guys been there for?” You called out. You turned to find a small group of what you assumed were hunters gathering food. The group consisted of three men and one woman.
“Y/N, are you okay?” One of the male hunters asked.
“I’m fine don’t worry…you didn’t happen to see a green haired guy with three swords roaming around?” You queried. You didn’t know them personally but you assumed the few that did check in on you when you were training spread the word to the others of your existence.
“He’s sitting by the waterfall.” The female hunter softly answered. You nodded as you brought the memorised path to the area up into your mind to plan out your short walk.
“Thank you, don’t mind us. We’ll be gone tomorrow.” You promised before you began making your way to him. A short walk through the forest and your feet found you at the beginning of a small lake. As you continued, your eyes caught the waterfall and the blue hues of water falling over into the lake. You looked around and soon enough your eyes caught on a head of green hair. You frowned at his slouched demeanor, noticing his eye was lost in the water and in thought. You took a quick breath in before continuing your walk to now stand near the swordsman. You noticed his body stiffened as you felt your presence before slouching back, his eye not breaking out of his lost gaze.
“Zoro…I.”
“Don’t speak.”
Your mouth closed into a straight line, the words ‘I’m sorry’ stuck at the tip of your tongue. You felt like you stood for eternity but just a few short minutes later and you decided to find a seat on the grass near him. Your eyes followed his and soon enough you were also lost in the water with him. Apart from the sounds of the water crashing into the lake and the gentle calls from the birds in the trees, the angst between the both of you laid thick.
As you watched the water, you were reminded of how much you missed swimming and the ability to just float. You had thankfully never fallen into the ocean since obtaining your devil fruit but the thought of sinking struck fear in you. You missed the feeling of saltwater soaking into your skin, letting your fingertips wrinkle and allowing your mind to wonder and be free. Sure you were able to shower in non-sea water but it just wasn’t the same.
Time had passed and the sky had turned into a deep hue of orange indicating the end of daylight. The forest had begun to fill out with fireflies, adding to the ambiance and giving light to where you both sat. You knew you’d have to start a fire and look for food soon but you couldn’t find the will to do so yet.
You had decided to scoot closer to the edge of the lake, allowing yourself to indulge in the only closeness you can have to water.
“You ain’t plannin to jump in right?”
Hearing his voice shook you out of thought, you shook your head to answer his question.
Zoro had every right to be pissed at you but seeing the sadness in your face made him feel guilty for letting himself behave like a teenager for hours. This was his fault after all but admitted he let his pride get the better of him.
“Why’re you moping?”
“I’m not moping..I’m just remembering how much I enjoyed swimming and just being in the ocean.” You confessed, pouting and allowing yourself to lean on your hand.
“I thought you didn’t regret-”
“I don’t regret anything. I’m allowed to feel sad.” You snapped.
He allowed silence to fill the space between the both of you for a moment before he made an anxiety-consuming decision that would definitely change everything.
“You wanna go in?” Zoro softly asked.
You turned to face him, surprise evident in your face.
“That's impossible, I’ll just feel weak and sink.” You answered.
“Not if I’m holding you.” Zoro said.
“I thought you were avoiding me, now you wanna hold me?” You questioned back.
“Answer my question; you want to go in yes or no?” Zoro bit back with slight annoyance at you being argumentative.
You bit your lip to stop yourself from going into a tangent, turning to look back at the water before nodding.
From seeing your physical consent, Zoro stood up and began to strip. You visibly blushed and let your gaze turn away from him refusing to turn it into ogling. He brought himself into your line of vision as he walked forward and stepped into the water, waiting with his back turned to you at the edge to allow you privacy. You were able to see he was just left in his boxers. You stared for a bit before finding your brevity and beginning to strip until you were just in your underwear and bra. You walked a few steps forward until you stood just behind him but you hadn’t stepped in the water yet.
“Am I okay to pick you up?” Zoro cautiously asked, his back still facing you.
“y-Yeah you can.”
Zoro turned around, pushing back his raging heartbeat and ignoring the growing heat in his skin before scooping you into his arms bridal style and slowly walking back into the lake until he was halfway submerged. You relished in the warmth of his skin and you hadn’t realised just how much you missed his presence.
“If it gets too much for you, tell me and I’ll take you back.” Zoro’s voice almost broke. He was currently fighting back the blush that had threatened to consume his wholebeing as he avoided looking down at your naked body. It wasn’t like he hadn’t seen a naked woman before, heck Nami and Robin walked around the ship in practically nothing and it never once bothered him. Seeing you see this way; shy and almost vulnerable gave a completely different meaning to it. He couldn’t fathom anyone else seeing you like this and the mere idea of any man seeing you this way made his skin itch and his temper rise.
He hadn’t even allowed himself to be consumed in the lust-filled thoughts he had of you since his recent awakening of feelings he had for you. He felt too much respect for you to subject you to his internal needs. He didn’t even know if you both even consummated the marriage before he disappeared but refused to go down the tangent of thoughts surrounding it.
He slowly began to lower you into the water, allowing the flow of the water to cover your legs and your arms. You gasped at the sudden coolness of the water, immediately feeling the weakness of the ocean consume you. Rather than fighting the weakness, you allowed it to sit as you relished in the feeling of the cool water and Zoro’s body heat.
“You okay?”
“Thank you Zoro.” You quietly spoke, grateful to him.
His concern alone was enough for you to choke on a sob. You were overwhelmed.
“Why did you avoid me?” You weakly asked, allowing yourself to cry.
“M’sorry.” Zoro mumbled back as he bit the inside of his cheek.
“I don’t want a sorry…I want an answer.”
Zoro said nothing. He didn’t know how to confess his feelings to you. He couldn’t even begin to explain or know where to start with talking about what was wrong with him. Seeing you broken hurt him badly and he knew he couldn’t let this go on anymore.
‘Show her.’
A small voice in his head spoke. He frowned at the intrusion of the voice.
‘Show her how you feel.’
He looked down to see you looking back up at him. The yearning he felt to hold you closer, the want to be with you overtook him.
He decided to listen to the foreign voice, putting his anxiety to one side as he leaned forward and pressed his lips to yours in a chaste kiss.

Danny Phantom (Vivisection AU x King Phantom AU) + One Piece
I just like the idea of Danny joining the Strawhats and their adventures.
In this AU Danny won the right to the crown of the Infinity Realm after defeating Pariah, and for the start, he doesn’t want it. He is working with Clockwork and Frostbite to reach a compromise with the other big powers in the realm so Danny doesn’t need to inherit the crown. At this point, the big powers are divided between those who recognize and want Danny as the new king and those who want to be the new king.
At the same time on Earth, Danny is dealing with his parents and GIW new partnership and weapons. Along with the new Anti-Ecto Laws that declare him non-sentient. Bad press. Fighting and protecting ghost at the same time. Vlad being pain in the ass. Jazz leaving Amity Parks to college out of state (One of them needs to be able to fulfill their dreams). Past due homework assignments, feeling like an idiot, and the risk of not graduating High School with Sam and Tucker.
Then, his parents find out his secret, and the worst-case scenario happens. Soon enough he is tied to the operation table with his parents asking, what did you do to our son? He cries, begs, and screams that he is his son, but they refuse to believe him. Eventually, Maddie and Jack commit a mistake and he manages to escape. He flies through the Ghost Portal and eventually enters a natural portal that takes him to the One Piece universe.
He ends up joining the Strawhats after helping them in one of their adventures and realizing he truly has no idea of how to navigate this world. Danny has not a particular position in the crew but he is efficient enough in the fights. He enjoys not being in charge, he never liked the idea of being a leader.
The overall goal of Danny is to find a way back home, but over time he realizes he doesn’t want to go back. He still wants to see Sam, Tucker, Ellie, and Jazz but doesn’t want to return to how it was. He finally is free from ghost attacks, and the politics of the ghost zone. He knows he can’t be a normal teenager anymore but he can finally just be Danny.
Not the Hero of Amity Park
Not the Great One
Not the Future King of the Infinity Realm
Not a Monster who stole Danny’s body
Just Danny
He loves the Strawhats and they love him back. His obsession with protection is being fulfilled by fighting alongside the crew and slowly this world is becoming his home.
Thanks to his healer factor his wounds are healed, but the scar of his “operations” seems to not fade. He cannot transform no matter how much he wants it and is limited to using his powers in his human phase, which makes him considerably weaker. This doesn’t bother him until the incident in Sabody.
After the Sabody, Danny starts training to get back his ghost form and become stronger to protect his friends. The thing is that by transforming other ghosts can finally locate him, and his past starts to get closer to him.
Ellie is the one who finds Danny after Wano and explains everything that has happened after his disappearance. The thing is that while things are going well for Danny, things are going bad for everyone else. When Jazz learned what her parents did she almost killed them. The GIW has free reign to hunt and experiment on ghosts since Phantom's disappearance. The Infinity Realm wants to declare war on humanity for the crime of killing the future king and other ghosts. Amity Park has been declared a contingency zone. Tucker, Sam, Ellie, and Jazz had been searching like crazy for Danny while running from the government.
Danny is perplexed and reluctantly accepts to follow Ellie back to confront all the disasters in his old home. Of course, the Strawhats follow them right behind starting a new adventure of multiversal dimensions.

A Healing Fire
Fandom : One piece / Pairing : You x Ace / Genre : angst, hurt comfort, mild smut / Other : this one shot is 8K words and imo too long to post here, so I'm only posting 1575 words as a preview. The full fic is up on ao3 (click for the link). Feel free to start reading here to see if it intrigues you or directly read it all on ao3. Enjoy !
Summary : Working as a geisha in Wano can be quite an ordeal. Especially when one of Orochi's men demands you get fired due to your mistakes, going as far as to injure you. Luckily, Ace stumbles upon you, and takes it upon himself to see that you're well throughout your recovery. Which causes you to become (quite badly) attached to him as you discover parts of yourself through rash actions.
--------------------------------------
“I’m begging you, please stop!”
You shot a look of terror towards the glittering sword of the samurai standing before you. The other geishas, too frightened to speak up, recoiled in a corner of the room as they watched the silver blade in action. Your hands, raised to shield your face, felt an icy sensation followed by stinging and finally the feeling of warm liquid falling down your right arm. The shock of the impact made you lose balance and fall on the ground. You glanced up at the face of the furious man, tears blurring your vision.
“You useless woman!” he bellowed, “That should teach you a lesson. Now get out and never come back!” He pointed his sword towards your face, glaring as he did so, giving anyone in your position no choice in the matter whatsoever.
“But sir, you can’t possibly ask for one of our own to be fired?” A geisha intervened with a shaking voice.
Feeling a sense of superiority, he chuckled before replying, “I am one of Orochi’s samurai, that should be enough of a reason. I can decide who can and cannot stay in this pleasure house according to my taste.” He scanned the frightened geishas, who shrieked in response. “If anyone has any objection, please do come forward, I’ll ensure you meet the same fate as your friend over there.” His eyes returned to you, “If I ever see or hear that you still frequent this place or others, I’ll kill you.”
You looked over towards your friends and coworkers — who could no longer look you in the eyes as they shook their heads in accordance with the samurai’s wishes. Suppressing a sob, you grabbed your precious shamisen and fled the room. You ignored the few questionables eyes and inquiries, as you proceeded to the building’s exit.
The lively and bustling streets of the flower capital made you feel a sense of panic. Unless you found another brothel to work at – which you couldn’t – you would no longer be allowed to live here. In fact, without a place to stay you would go hungry, tired, weak and vulnerable. The anxiety of the current situation caused you to be lost in thoughts – not knowing where to go, you stood immobile and aghast on the street, as the blood from your wound stained your kimono.
“Are you alright?”
You looked up from the pair of feet that appeared in your field of vision. A man wearing nothing but a pair of shorts, an orange hat, with black hair and freckles looked at you with worry. He was without a doubt a foreigner. How he got in and what he was doing there, you preferred not to know, as he probably was involved with Kaido, even though he wasn’t wearing the usual uniform.
“Yes, thank you,” you gave him a curt bow, avoiding all eye contact whilst hoping he would drop it and let you go despite your disturbed expression.
“I can’t believe that when you’re bleeding quite heavily!”
Unwilling to get involved with a stranger, you kept your gaze to the ground, clutching your arm, as if to hide the wound. However, he, who refused to heed your body language, grabbed your uninjured arm and started leading the way.
You looked up at him bewildered, “What are you—?”
“You should come and meet our ship’s doctor! He’s really amazing and will take care of your wound in no time!”
Ship doctor? He wasn’t one of Kaido’s men then? Your panic increased tenfold, as this man – seemingly unwilling to let go of you – strutted the streets of Wano while continuously praising his ship’s doctor’s skills, unaffected by the stares and whispers of the locals.
“Who are you?” you puffed, at his quick walking pace.
“I’m Ace! A pirate.” He gave you a contagious smile, which you returned with a fearful one. Having your life spared, yet shamed, by a samurai, if word got out to Orochi that you were also involved with a foreign pirate who must’ve illegally entered the country, your head would roll for sure this time.
Ace led you to Kuri where you saw a sight that caused a knot to your stomach. Being confronted to poverty for the first time, you couldn’t help but lower your gaze, too ashamed to face the locals. Your chest started to feel heavy at the thought that this could possibly be your life from now on.
“We're here!” Ace gave you a glance before waving towards his crew. “Guys, I'm back!”
Multiple pirates wearing clothes you never laid eyes on simultaneously welcomed Ace back. The doctor was called quickly, and before you knew it you found yourself sitting on an uncomfortable rock with bandages subsiding the pain, and ointment to apply in upcoming days.
“So, tell us now how did a lady like you get injured?” Ace sat by your side, the other members of his crew looked at you in anticipation.
“Well,” You gave a quick glance towards your shamisen before telling the foreigners the full story. You were touched by their angry and upset faces, as they listened to your tale, feeling a sincere sense of compassion. A few of them muttered blasphemies about the Samurai and the Shogun's actions. Their fury somewhat felt personnal ; you never imagined strangers to care so much about someone such as yourself.
“This is quite a horrible thing you've been through today,” Ace said at the end of your explanations.
You gave him a polite smile, “Stuff like this is a daily occurrence in this country, I'm simply one of the unlucky ones.” You gave the crew a curt smile before avoiding their gaze.
“This country is in a worse state than we thought, Ace,” said Deuce
“Yeah,” Ace stared darkly towards the ground. The atmosphere, now silent, took a sour, heavy turn, where the pirates did nothing but arbor anger and frustration on their faces. The mood did nothing but reinforce your personal lament of your situation.
A cheery voice made itself heard despite the miasma surrounding everyone, as a child with purple hair and a green Kimono came into view. “Ace!” She waved towards the black haired man, “You're back!”
“Tama!” Ace stood up and went to welcome the little child. They seemed surprisingly close, and as he interacted with her, you couldn't help but notice how kindhearted he's been all this time – to you, to her, and probably to this village too. Your wary opinion of him changed, as you stared at his broad back, defining the lines of his exposed muscles and getting lost in the smile he gave the young girl. If it wasn't for him, you would've been at a loss ; the citizens of the Flower Capital did nothing but pretend they didn't notice but Ace, he was the only one who saw you, and extended a helping hand – though forcefully. The thought that you hadn't thanked him yet or even paid back the favor started bothering you .
You felt an intent gaze coming from one of the crew members, and quickly turned your head away, blushing in embarrassment. You hadn't realized that you were staring for a long time – and quite intensely too.
Clearing your throat, you stood up, cheeks still red, “I should probably get going.”
“What?” Ace finally looked in your direction.
Tama stared at you inquisitively, smiling, as she asked Ace who you were. He promptly answered her before returning his attention to you. “You're leaving?”
You were secretly pleased to see him somewhat surprised by your sudden leave. “I'm not from this village, I don't think I should overstay my welcome.” Plus they probably don't want an additional mouth to feed, you thought.
“Yeah, that makes sense, but where would you go?” Ace asked.
“Ringo,” you replied confidently – a safe place to hide from any prying eyes and Orochi's men along with the best way to put some distance between you and the samurai.
“Ringo huh…” Ace said.
“You've no idea where it is don't you?” Deuce said.
You chuckled, before grabbing your shamisen. “Thank you for your help today, I’ll get going now before it gets dark.” You gave the crowd a curt bow before placing your shamisen on your back and quickly walking in the opposite direction of the village.
“Wait, will you be alright on your own?” Ace loudly added, Tama had kept his attention away from you again, as she explained where and what Ringo consisted of.
Once again, you gave a bow as an answer and proceeded to disappear in the greenlife of nature. This is for the best, you thought. Even if they were good company, they were still foreigners – getting attached to them wouldn’t be any good. You promptly made your way to Ringo, thankful that no additional harm came your way. You arrived at night, feeling the cold of the region making its way to your bones, making you regret your decision. With poor vision, you wandered around until you found an abandoned cabin, which you reluctantly decided to call your new home, and settled down for the day. Now settled, you thought back on today’s peripeties : the loss of a job, a wounded limb, and the warm help Ace extended your way. You felt a fuzzy feeling in your stomach at the thought of the latter and decided to reminisce no more, letting the chime of the wind serve as your lullaby.

Survivor’s Guilt
based on some MESSED UP (i loved it) art i saw on here (like this and THIS that made me cry)
WC: 895
CW: death, suicidal thoughts, religious imagery (i HC law as a former catholic because of the nuns on Flevance idk)
-
Trafalgar D. Water Law learned very early on that everything and everyone he loved would eventually be ripped away from him, washed away like footprints in the sand by high tide.
He was born to live this checkered life, cursed by the middle initial forced upon him at birth. He had no choice, no say in the matter. They say the Clan of D were meant to bring the Dawn, to usher in a new age, but all Law wanted to bring about was some peace and quiet. Just for a single moment.
But that was apparently too much to ask for.
Law craved nothing more than the everlasting promise of death as he tripped over the still bodies of his friends and family, corpses piling up with every step he took, but he was urged on by a will not of his own. He had to keep going. He must keep going.
He trudged along reluctantly, day after day. Life wasn’t so cruel as to only deal him bad hands- no, they had the audacity to give him hope every once in a while. A light at the end of the tunnel before that tunnel caved in too.
Being saved by Cora-san, meeting Shachi, Penguin and Bepo on Swallow Island, forming the Heart Pirates, his tentative friendshi- alliance with Straw Hat and his crew. All these moments deluded him into believing that maybe, just maybe, he could dare to dream of a better life. A happy life, even.
Law didn’t have any lofty ambitions such as becoming King of the Pirates like his Worst Generation rivals, contrary to what others believed about him. What could a place called ‘Laughtale’ offer a man like him anyways? Up until recently, he lived for the singular purpose of fulfilling his savior’s wishes, but he couldn’t even do that right. For as many messes as he had to clean up for others, Law could argue he left behind more.
Left behind. The one thing he could count on being.
The hands that touched him all faded into a distant memory, specters that haunted him whenever he closed his eyes at night. They called out to him like a siren’s song, caressing his face as they asked why he wasn’t strong enough to save them. It was no wonder Law gave up on sleeping a long time ago.
He closed his eyes now, begging to the higher powers he no longer believed in to please, please, finally grant him this one mercy. Salty sea water flooded his lungs as his body lost all its’ capabilities, any energy he had left after facing Blackbeard sucked dry as he was dragged deeper below the surface. This was all his fault. Law should have known better than to have hope for the future, to have deluded himself into thinking things were finally going according to plan.
Damn that man in the Straw Hat for giving him something to believe in back in Wano. He should have known better. There was no God; that’s why the nuns of White Town were all dead.
In the depths of the murky water, faces began to appear behind his eyelids. The other school children, begging him to come with them to safety. His parents, love shining in their eyes as they reached out their hands. Lami, looking up at him with so much trust and adoration. Cora-san and his stupid, crooked smile.
‘Wait for me, I’m coming.’ Law thought as his body sunk lower and lower beneath the waves. He could finally go home, after all this time.
As the abyss called out to him, so did another voice.
“Captain! Captain, please! You can’t die!” It wailed.
Law was suddenly pulled back above the water, dragged by the collar of his shirt to safety. He wrenched his eyes shut even harder, refusing to open them and accept reality. He had been ready to rescind the borrowed time he’d been living on since Flevance if it meant never having to deal with the loss of his loved ones again. He coughed once, twice, expelling the foreign liquid from his body as a large paw pounded on his back repeatedly.
“Bepo.” Law groaned out miserably, recognizing the Mink’s cries anywhere.
“Bepo, we have to go back.” He pleaded pathetically, his desperation apparent. Law didn't have to open his eyes to know that they were the only ones here, wherever ‘here’ was. There was no use pretending to be strong anymore, for he no longer had a crew to be strong for.
“I’m not going back! Trust them, Captain!” The Polar Bear Mink refused Law’s orders outright.
It wasn’t that he didn’t trust his crew, it was that he didn’t trust the world. History was repeating itself as it always did.
Law threw himself backwards onto the sandy beach they’d washed up on, shrugging off Bepo’s attempts at comfort with more force than necessary. It was only a matter of time before he was dead too.
He should’ve known better than to let anyone in, to think for a second he could walk through life anything less than alone. He should have known better than to hope that this time, surely, he could be happy.
Once again, Trafalgar D. Water Law was alive while everyone around him faded into dust. After all, the weak don’t get to choose how they die, do they?
