Canada Immigration Levels Plan 2023-2025 Is All Set to Be Disclosed!
Tumblr media
The government of Canada has finally released its long-awaited immigration plan for the next three years. The plan, which was first hinted at in early 2020, is designed to help Canada recover from the Covid-19 pandemic and welcome a record number of new immigrants in the coming years.
Under the new plan, Canada will welcome up to 1.2 million new immigrants between 2023 and 2025. This is a significant increase from the current annual target of 3,30,000 and is likely to put Canada on track to becoming one of the world’s top immigration destinations.
Plans call for Canada to try to accept 465,000 additional immigrants in 2023, 485,000 in 2024, and 500,000 in 2025. 82,880 immigrants will be accepted through Express Entry in 2023, 109,020 immigrants in 2024, and 114,000 immigrants in 2025.
The plan includes a number of measures to attract skilled workers, including a new points-based system that will give preference to applicants with in-demand skills. The government also plans to invest $1.5 billion over the next three years to help newcomers settle in Canada and find employment.
The release of the immigration plan comes as Canada prepares to host the world’s largest virtual immigration summit, which is being held online this week. The summit will bring together leaders from around the world to discuss how to attract and welcome more immigrants.
With the release of the new immigration plan, Canada is once again open for business and ready to welcome the world’s best and brightest. If you’re thinking of making a move to Canada, now is the time to start planning your journey.

The government has said that the increase is necessary to help address some of the challenges that Canada is facing, such as an aging population and a shrinking workforce. They also believe that immigrants bring valuable skills and perspectives that can help contribute to the country’s success.
The government has been clear that they want to welcome people from all over the world, and they have set a target of welcoming people from every continent. They also want to make sure that the mix of immigrants is diverse so that no one group feels unwelcome or underserved.
The plan is still being finalized, but the government has indicated that they will be announcing more details soon. In the meantime, if you are interested in immigrating to Canada, be sure to contact our Canadian Immigration Consulting Company in Surrey BC for all the latest news and updates!
The new plan is a response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting decrease in immigration. The government is hoping that by releasing the plan early, they will be able to encourage more people to immigrate to Canada.

Things Biden and the Democrats did, this week #17
May 3-10 2024
Vice President Harris announced 5.5 billion dollars to build affordable housing and address homelessness. The grants will go to 1,200 communities across all 50 states, DC and Puerto Rico. 1.3 billion will go to HUD's HOME program which builds, buys, and rehabs affordable housing for rent or ownership. 3.3 billion is headed to Community Development Block Grants which supports housing as well as homeless services, and expanding economic opportunities. Remaining funds focus on building housing for extremely low- and very low-income households, Housing for people struggling with HIV/AIDS, transitional housing for those with substance-use disorder, and money to support homeless shelters and homeless prevention programs.
At the 3rd meeting of the Los Angeles Declaration group in Guatemala Security of State Blinken announced $578 million in new US aid to Latin America. The Los Angeles Declaration is a partnership between the US and 20 other nations in the Americas to address immigration, combat human trafficking, and support economic development and improved quality of life for people in poor nations in the Americas. The bulk of the aid, over $400 million will go to humanitarian assistance to the Venezuelan people. Inside of Venezuela over 7 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance due to decades of political and economic instability. Over 7 million more have been forced to flee the country and live in poverty across the Americas. The aid will help Venezuelans both inside and outside of Venezuela.
The Department of Energy lead an effort to get the G7 to agree to phase out coal by the early 2030s. The G7 is a collection of the 7 largest Industrial economies on Earth, the US, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, and Italy. To avoid catastrophic climate change the International Energy Agency believes coal needs to be phased out by 2035. However this has been a sticking point with the G7 since 1/3rd of Japan and 1/4th of Germany's energy comes from Coal. This agreement to phase out represents a major breakthrough and the US plans to press for even wider agreement on the issue at the G20 meeting in November.
President Biden announced a major investment deal in Racine, Wisconsin, site of the failed Trump Foxconn deal. In 2018 then President Trump visited Racine and declared the planned Foxconn plant "the eighth wonder of the world.". However the promised 13,000 jobs never materialized and the Taiwan based Foxconn after bulldozing 100s of homes and farms decided not to build. President Biden inked a deal with Microsoft for the land formally given to Foxconn which will bring 2,000 new jobs to Racine to help replace the 1,000 job losses during Trump's Presidency in the community.
200 tribal governments and the US territories of American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, published climate action plans. The plans were paid for by the Biden Administration as part of a 5 billion dollar Climate Pollution Reduction Grants program. The federal government is supporting all 50 states, territories, DC, and tribal governments to draft climate action plans, which will be used to apply for more than 4 billion dollars in grants to help turn plans into reality
As part of marking Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), the Biden Administration announced a number of action aimed at combating antisemitism and supporting the Jewish Community. This included $400 million in new funding for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program. The Program has supported Synagogues and Jewish Community Centers with security improvements like bullet proof windows and trainings for staff in how to handle active shooter and hostage situations. The Department of Education issued guidance to all schools districts and federally funded colleges stressing that antisemitism is banned under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. These actions come as part of the Biden Administration's National Strategy To Counter Antisemitism, the first ever national strategy addressing the issue by any Administration.
USAID announced $220 million in additional humanitarian aid to Yemen. This new funding will bring US aid to Yemen over the last 10 years to nearly $6 billion. Currently 18 million Yemenis are estimated as needing humanitarian assistance, 9 million of them children, and the UN believes nearly 14 million face imminent risk of famine. The US remains the single largest donor nation to humanitarian relief in Yemen.
The Department of Interior announced nearly $150 million to help communities fight drought. The funds will support 42 projects across 10 western states. This is part of the President's $8.3 billion dollar investment in the nations water infrastructure over the next 5 five years.

AITA for telling my friend that I'd rather die than to go to America?
(🪿🐢 -> for finding this post)
I (28x) live in a global south country with many problems, and I've always planned to apply for a PhD in a better country. Problem is, I need it to be fully funded (as in, the university will pay not only my tuition but also a salary) because I don't have the money to sustain myself—Even a simple meal could bankrupt my family. Therefore my options are limited. The country I'm aiming for has to A) have fully funded courses and B) easy access to getting citizenship.
All these considered, my two options are the USA and Canada. In truth, the USA is a better option, because Canada doesn't have that many good universities for my major, and the fund is usually lower than the USA. But I don't really want to go there for Visa reasons (it's very hard to get a Visa from here), for its health care system (I'm chronically ill and need medical attention every month at best) and for the general atmosphere.
Here's when I may have acted like an asshole.
I was venting to a friend (31x, American), bemoaning that I have few options and it might limit me. I let it slip that I could also consider the USA as an option, and they suddenly became too excited about this. They kept telling me to forget Canada, saying things like "there's no future in Canada" or "everyone there immigrates here anyways" which may have been true, but they weren't that important to me. I told them that I don't find America to be a suitable place for me, which made them act a bit defensive, saying that Canada isn't that different from America in many aspects, and then they threw this line at me: "America can't be worse than [where I live]."
While this is true, I don't think they have the right to say it like this. I got very angry, told them that I'd rather die than go to America and they live in delusion, what's the real difference between my country and theirs? Both are horrible in their own unique ways and I don't want to get out of a hole and into a well. They told me that I'm an asshole, acting all high and mighty, and haven't talked to me since. I told my brother about this, and he told me that I shouldn't disrespect anyone's country like this and I should've been more tactful about it.
So, people of Tumblr, AITA?
What are these acronyms?

lets turn this conversation back to asia lmao. i also find it interesting how these terms have shifted here in seasia. grew up pretty much understanding that asians that come here are immigrants while white people that come here are expats, even if the white people give up their citizenship. what i find interesting is that recently there has been a shift, rich people from other asian countries are also being labelled as "exapts" whether or not they plan to migrate back. however the racism still prevails - people who were completely fine with white expats are complaining and protesting about asian expats stealing their jobs. you'll never see a poor asian person get the expat treatment though, even if they are only here to make some money and go back in a few years. there's your nuance random commentor
exactly, like you'll never see an indonesian or filipino woman who comes to work as a maid in malaysia or singapore to make some money and go back in a few years being called an expat, she is always an "immigrant" but a wealthier person from south korea or japan doing white collar work may now be described as an "expat" much like westerners. like you said, white people who immigrate permanently and even take up citizenship are still called "expats" and not "immigrants" because the word "immigrant" has racial and class connotations. my mom is a white canadian who immigrated to malaysia and has had PR for 20+ years but she's only ever called an expat, not an immigrant. whereas my (malaysian indian) dad in canada has held canadian PR for 40+ years and he's only ever been called an immigrant, even though he had no intention of staying permanently.
