honestly the scene from b.ojack h.orseman where he apologizes to his former friend on his deathbed and said friend tells him that he isn't getting his forgiveness or closure and that he KNOWS that this apology is only a matter of vanity and b.ojack making himself feel better for the shitty thing he did? altered my brain chemistry

a letter to technoblade
hi. my name is ryland, but my friends usually just call me rylie or snail. i’ve been following your content since january of 2020. your skyblock videos helped me a lot in the aftermath of escaping a group of really toxic people who i thought were my friends.
i found you through jschlatt. the highlight video for you two playing together and winning minecraft monday was not only funny and entertaining to watch, but also filled my heart with so much joy.
i practically live in your merch. i wear it every day (hell, i’m wearing my 10 mil hoodie right now as i’m typing this). i have all your plushies. they stay in my bed with me. as embarrassing as this is to admit, i’m afraid of the dark. having them there kinda makes feel like you were there with me, as if you were protecting me, and i feel safer falling asleep.
i will never forget all that you’ve done for me, from inspiring me to pick up writing again, to making wonderful friends, to starting this blog.
i can’t even imagine what it was like for you, knowing that you were dying but keeping a smile your face the entire time. assuring us that you would be okay. that you’d make it out of this, even though you knew you most likely wouldn’t. the amount of love and admiration you had for your community was felt every single day. i know i felt it, even if i was just writing silly wish-fulfillment fanfiction.
knowing you, you’re probably getting ready the fight whatever force it is that controls the afterlife right now. i wish you luck. i know you can do it.
it still hasn’t really hit me yet. i had a lot of trouble sleeping last night. but that’s okay. i know i’ll be okay. because i know that you’ll be right there, right by my side, just like always have.
thank you for everything, techno. i love you. i miss you.

I feel so much for Technoblade’s family and friends right now. I lost someone to cancer as a kid so I’ve been through that and…it sucks
So much.
I do know though, it does get better, the pain never truly goes away, but it lessens, and the best things you can do is to look back on the good times, push yourself into a hobby or something if you need a distraction, talk to people.
Everyone, make sure to take care of yourselves, talk to people if you need to. I won’t say it’s gonna get better soon, because grieving takes time, but it will eventually.

Death penalty anon again, thanks for answering that so nicely and giving tons of links. I felt like an idiot asking so the explanation was really helpful ♥️ (you don't have to post this)
I'm glad you asked and I'm glad you took the time to read my reply. Asking questions is good!! If you want more info, I suggest you check out the following:
John Oliver talking about execution on Last Week Tonight
Death Penalty Action Linktree
And individual cases:
Melissa Lucio, (there is a documentary on Netflix as well!) Was recently taken off death row. She was sentenced to execution after an accident resulted in the death of her daughter.
Pervis Payne, was recently removed from death row. He has an intellectual disability which made it unconstitutional to execute him. He is innocent as well.
Paul Hildwin (tw for cancer) was on death row for 35 years.
Kosoul Chanthakoummane is currently an innocent person on death row who may be executed this month! The family of the victim in this case is against his execution and believes that he is innocent as well.

Cliffs’ notes version of my Helen Wick:
She used to be a hitman, stopped when she got pregnant with Melina
She and John met on a contract and things fell into place from there
While Helen did get cancer, it wasn’t terminal. She had a big target on her back from a particularly powerful client since she turned down a contract from them. She had to hide from John to keep them both safe. And he didn’t know.
Helen often tries to leave hints that she’s alive, but John keeps missing them bc of all the shit he’s going through

okay I definitely need to know more about wanderection shit (please)
Julia!!! <3 Ok so, I don't know if this will be disappointing or not, but it's basically a vague Louis-centric canon-compliantish exes to lovers thing that I am using to pour all my conflicting feelings about this place that I've had since end 2013 basically.
Excerpt, cw for drug ment:
He’s got money, he’s got more freedom that a nine to six job would give him, he doesn’t really need dreams. He's got a mum that succumbed to cancer and a sister that succumbed to money, and a hole where Harry used to be. He’s got dreams crushed so much that they became finely milled like the powders he snorts when he parties. He’s got a jaded exterior to help protect him from the shit world he’s in. He doesn’t like to think about the future anymore.
It's still very vague, and it's mostly because I'm using it as a way to unload, but yeah!!

(cancer mention) genuine question: why isn’t there a cure for cancer yet? it’s not a rare disease, it’s not a new disease, and with how many charities and research funds there are there can’t possibly be a funding issue either. how close are we to a cure? and what’s the holdup?
hi, that's actually a v good question! you see, one of the biggest problems with cancer is that it's actually not a single disease. it's an umbrella term we use for a heterogeneous group of genetic diseases that have a few common characteristics:
uncontrolled proliferation (cell replication)
invasion into other tissues and angiogenesis (growth of new blood vessels)
metastasis (secondary cancer)
rapid cell division without differentiation (basically the cells divide, but don't have the time to develop their tissue-specific functions and structure)
immortal cells independent from the surrounding tissue
and the reason for these characteristics is basically damage to your DNA - either your tumour suppressor genes get deactivated, or your proto-oncogenes mutate, making them promote cancerous cell growth. in any case, there isn't a foreign "enemy" to target like we do with diseases caused by bacteria or even a virus. we can't just prescribe an antibiotic or get vaccinated, because the "enemy" we're trying to destroy is a bunch of human cells. and we can't just go ham with that bc that'd kill the patient, which would kinda be counter productive, as you can imagine.
another thing that makes this whole ordeal finicky is the fact that we a) still have so much to learn about the inner mechanics of human DNA and b) messing with it is both risky and morally questionable in many cases. each mutation may have a different cause, different consequences, and may manifest differently in each individual. plus, we obviously can't just freely experiment on people and cause them ever more suffering. that's why our current best bet is surgery (when possible and needed) and targeted radiation or chemo. with chemo, however, the huge problem is the fact that we simply cannot avoid poisoning the healthy cells in the process.
there's so much more to this, but i think these are the basics, the most common misconception is, i find, that people don't know/realise that cancer isn't a single disease attacking all these different organs and tissues, but rather a wide range of diseases, manifesting in different ways and quite often being very hard to catch at an early stage.

CW Cancer ment. . . Here's another creepy creature from my D&D game that I based off Silent Hill monsters! This one is basically the same creature as from the games with a few minor tweaks for interesting D&D combat. This abomination is a sack of flesh that inflates with air and spews forth rotted air when punctured, poisoning it's attacker. #art #monster #horror #dnd #dungeonsanddragons #silenthill #bodyhorror #creature https://www.instagram.com/p/B2c2Wholsr3/?igshid=1ihjtugw7hkur
