Tips & tricks for students on how to remember their lessons !!
Tumblr media
There will be two categories for this and they are as follows:
·memorization-type subjects
·problem-solving subjects
Just like subjects AP (Social Studies or History) and English, they have a lot of information that needs to be revised. With that said, my first tip is to:
1) Review this details DAILY.
The more you review, the less you forget. You'll do better on exams if you review regularly. Even just around 10 minutes of your time everyday, go over your notes and read them for a bit. Afterward, test yourself if you memorize and understand it.
2) Read OUT LOUD.
Studies have shown that you are more likely to remember something if you read it out loud. Reading aloud is a simple and effective skill to add to your studying memory. Reading aloud can improve memory and place them in long-term recall.
3) VISUALIZE the information. (Best for Social Studies & Visual Learners)
This is a skill where you visualize the events of the past, and feel like you are in that position. By using this method, you should be able to comprehend everything your teacher says in class
☆ Problem-solving subjects!
These subjects include a lot of formulas that you need to master, just like Mathematics and Computer Science. Thus, my first piece of advice is to:
1) Practice solving EVERYDAY.
Just like the first tip of the first category, the more you practice the formulas, the better and more confident will be. Five practice problems everyday, and you'll be able to master this.
2) BREAK the material down into small pieces.
It’s easier to process and remember information if you break it up into small parts. Instead of trying to memorize an entire chapter of your textbook full of equations +
focus on one short section or key piece of information at a time.
3) EXPLAIN the material to someone else.
Teaching is one of the best ways to learn. To be able to explain something, you must be able to understand it yourself. You have to express the material in a way that is clear and understandable to another person, and doing so can +
help you absorb and understand the material better.

6.3.21 | It’s my third day since recovering from some serious dehydration. Was I supposed to have this coffee today? Maybe not 🤦‍♀️ but I poured myself a little bit in order to get through work tonight! ☕️

21/10/20 // 22.15
This isn’t even a post and I don’t have an excuse except that I am suffering and tired and this week has killed me off so I don’t want to revise anymore so after work I had a meeting and then did some crochet. Look at my cute shades of yarn!
Quarantine fall study challenge: outfit of the day!
This is literally the worst day for this to fall on, I always wear scrubs on wednesdays because I’m covering the ward. Literally any other day and I would’ve been in a cute autumnal workwear outfit, but today was a scrubs day. Also yes I know my hair needs cutting it hasn’t been done since jan 2019 and I need to chop it all off but I also like it long. Also ignore the huge piles of clothes plz I am a state
Studyblr community challenge: tag someone who you think works really hard and deserves appreciation!
@cancerbiophd has just GOT A PHD so I count that as working super hard and I’m super impressed, and I hope you’re proud of everything you’ve achieved 💕 Julia also gives amazing advice and is generally amazing so do give her a follow!!

Finally back in lab! There will definitely be a learning curve as I get used to the new sanitation/scheduling protocols, plus planning experiments is trickier now that everything takes longer to ship but I'm excited 😄 it feels good to be making concrete progress on my thesis project

- Last day of summer means chillin at the lake with my friends (and getting a bad sunburn) ☀️ No filter needed on these beautiful pictures.
- I devoured the book Beartown by Fredrik Backman. I wasn't sure if I would like it, but I loved A Man Called Ove so I gave it a chance. The characters in the book felt so real and the author touched on themes of community, family, sports culture, and feminism. Def a must read!! Now I'm trying to finish all my library books before I get busy w classes.
- Received a scholarship from my uni for getting good grades last year!! Every little bit helps and I was able to get the highest scholarship amount because I improved my average so much last year.
- I helped my little brother move into his new place, so I'm feeling a bit sad and nostalgic. I'm staying at home for school and he's a few hours away. He's starting a degree in Criminology and I am sooo proud of him for finding something he likes and being excited to learn! I've always been the nerdy sibling who loves school and I know it's been hard for him to find a field of study/career that excites him in the same way. I may show my passion in more obvious ways, but that's why school and learning is great: there's something for everyone to learn and get excited about.
- I am pumped for the semester! I just browsed through my reminders tag and wrote up a start of the semester pep talk to send to my friends tomorrow. I am going to be Amazing this semester! I am going to be Stressed as well, but each year I learn more about myself and managing whatever life throws at me. I am going to take care of myself so I can be the best I can be, take on opportunities with vigour, and work hard on what I can control!! I am allowed to (and should) be proud of myself. I can't wait to learn more and create more knowledge by conducting research (how cool is that?!!)

28. and also 29 and 30 bc lol what
Thanks for asking dear! :*
28  What is the coolest name that you would never name a real human child?
This is actually super hard! There are a couple of international names I really like but wouldn’t name my child if it were to grow up in Germany because people would pronounce it in a weird way. Also I’m kind of in love with Tamina for a girl. I wouldn’t even say I’d never name a real child like that but I’d at least be hesitant to act out my opera nerdism that way (it’s the female form of Tamino from Mozart’s “Zauberflöte” (magic flute)).
29  What fish scares you the most?
Eels! I’m super scared of snakes so eels are not exactly my thing...
30 How do you feel about snails?
Uhh... kinda... indifferent? I loved to collect the shells (please note that the german translation is literally “slug house”) as a kid, but in the city I live now I don’t even know when i last encountered a snail...
WEIRD ASKS!

i was tagged by @cancerbiophd thank you julia i love youuuu!!!
You can call me: emma or em!
I’d describe myself as: practical, creative, witty, loyal, a perfectionist
Fictional character(s) that I identify with or am fond of: oh boy i really identify w jyn erso’s attitude and general fury HOWEVER i also really relate to miss jemma simmons’ enthusiasm and passion for science
Three random facts about me:
1. my little sister used to call me “squirrel” when we were younger but for the life of me i cant remember why
2. i am trying to learn german because i’d like to live in germany someday
3. the longest romantic relationship i’ve ever been in was in high school and lasted roughly 24 hours
Something little about my appearance that I kind of like: my eyes are medium brown but they look really pretty in the sun ;u;
An outfit that makes me feel powerful: a good sweater with some high waisted jeans!!
An object that is special to me: i wear a necklace almost every day that has a charm in the shape of the big dipper constellation on it, and my little sister has one with the little dipper and we wear them when we miss each other. it’s become almost a comfort object to me!!
A compliment (or two, or three) about me that made me feel warm inside: being complimented on my writing or drawing!!
Something I love about myself: i am kind. i am quite sarcastic but i do my best to use it to make people laugh rather than hurt their feelings
Something I love about someone else: this boy i’m lowkey in l*ve with sneezes whenever he gets into direct sunlight and god if it isn’t the BEST thing ive ever seen in my whole life
Something I’d love to buy for someone else: either pay off my parents’ mortgage or buy them their dream home to retire in!!! they’ve done so much for me that i really hope i can do this for them someday
Something I’d love to buy for myself: an ipad pro that i can use to take notes and to draw with!!
Three things that make me happy right now:

3. wolf 359 honestly makes me so happy whenevr i think about it....my heart is full
Something I’m looking forward to: my mom’s coming to visit me in grad school in 1.5 weeks!!!!!!!
Something I enjoyed recently: i listened to the first episode of the beef and dairy network podcast when i was cleaning my apt and it made me laugh SO hard
Song(s) stuck in my head recently: phoebe bridgers’ cover of “friday i’m in love” is so.....IT’S SO
I watched this, maybe you’d like it too: i feel like most people have already seen the netflix series dark but it is so so good and atmospheric.......
Something adorable I came across recently:  this article about rats being taught to drive tiny cars for froot loops.......wholesome
If you wanted to know me better, you should check out these things: probably my “/e” or “/grad stuff” tags!
Something I can/will do to take care of myself or make things more positive for me in the coming days: as SOON as i finish my second exam for the week on friday evening im cracking open a bottle of wine and listening to all seven episodes of the zero hours podcast and no one can stop me
I’ll tag: @gemsofthegalaxy @baenakinskywalker @lesbianromanticism @dreadwater @enigma731 @daishannigans @ladytharen and tbh anyone else who wants to do it <3

January Studyblr Challenge: Day 7
January Studyblr Challenge by @delstudiess
1.7.19: Studyblr Community
I want to use this prompt to give a shout out to some of my favorite studyblrs who deserve a big thank you for all they contribute to our community!
@emmastudies
Emma is one of the first studyblrs people follow, mostly because she’s adorable, friendly, and everything she posts and makes is aesthetically beautiful and handy.
@studyquill
Jasmine posts some of the most useful information and advice I’ve seen anyone give in the community and her handwriting is to die for!
@cancerbiophd
Julia was incredibly helpful to me back when I was just applying to PhD programs and getting started in the one I chose. She’s helpful and kind to everyone and she’s gorgeous as well, with her wedding pictures being more than enough evidence (congrats btw!!).
@eintsein
No one makes graphics (or insanely beautiful infographics) like Josephene. She’s so talented and creative, and she’s even a brilliant student at Cornell!
@nerdastically
Ewa makes the most lovely icons, and does so many requests from others in the community for them. She’s also got gorgeous notes, and gets bonus points for being in a band as well.
A big shout out to all of you for all of the lovely things you do for studyblr!

Types of Microorganisms
Four major categories of microorganisms cause infection in humans: bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.
Bacteria : Bacteria are by far the most common infection-causing microorganisms; several hundred species can cause disease in humans and can live and be transported through air, water, food, soil, body tissues and fluids, and inanimate objects. Viruses: Viruses consist primarily of nucleic acid and therefore must enter living cells in order to reproduce; common virus families include rhinoviruses (causes the common cold), hepatitis, herpes, and human immuno deficency virus. Fungi: Fungi includes yeast and molds; Candida albicans is a yeast considered to be normal flora in the human vagina. Parasites; Parasites live on other living organisms; they include protozoa such as the one that causes malaria, helminths (worms), and arthropods (fleas , mites )
