The seasons played and still play a major role in understanding the zodiac signs. The western zodiac most are familiar with today originated from the northern hemisphere. Medieval Europe also played a big role in our understanding of the zodiac signs and their symbolisms and associations. Below is how Capricorn represents or connects back to the winter season.

Capricorn is connected to Winter and their season starts on the Winter Solstice. It's not too hard to see the association of winter in this sign with their reputation for being cold and rigid. Capricorn is associated with enjoying the fruits of labor or harvest. In the wintertime many cultures would dip into reserves. It can also be hard work to survive or thrive during this time period. Capricorn is known for having a practical, serious, or cold exterior but a lot of depth, romance, and care beneath that which can be reminiscent of a warm home or place to take refuge from the snow or blizzard. Full moon in Cancer (Dec. 26, 2023)

It's interesting that the day after Christmas -- when many of us will have spent/be spending time with our families -- we have a full moon in Cancer -- the sign most associated with the family.

For many of us, issues surrounding our past or families of origin will come front and center in a way we can't deny. This is a gift because it allows us to clearly acknowledge what it is we need to release and/or heal.
