What had happened to you on the Jedi Cruiser hadn’t been spoken about; neither you nor Rex could bear to bring it up. Rex felt incredibly guilty despite your reassurance and you, well, it wasn’t something you wanted to exactly re-live.
Ahsoka had gone her own way while Rex had vowed to save more of his brothers. You knew you probably should have gone with Ahsoka, but your heart belonged to Rex… You couldn’t leave him. You were currently hiding out in an abandoned house in the middle of a forest while Rex made a plan, an extremely detailed and thorough plan.
You looked around the dilapidating home until your eyes fixated on Rex who was, as usual, looking distressed. You stood up and made your way to his side. “Rex,” you whispered, placing your hand on his armoured shoulder. “Are you okay?”
His helmet rested on the table in front of him, leaving his face uncovered for you to see the emotion hiding beneath his eyes. Yet despite this, he still tried to lie to you. “I’m fine,” was all he said.
“You’re not fine,” you mumbled, wedging yourself between him and the table to gain his full undivided attention.
Rex let out a big sigh and looked into your eyes. “I’m sorry.”
You smiled at him, clearly confused. “What’re you sorry for?”
“You know exactly what I’m sorry for,” he sighed again.
You furrowed your eyebrows at him and bit your bottom lip. “Rex…” You mumbled. You pulled him into a bone crushing hug, your cheek pressed up against his plastoid armour plating.
“Don’t do that,” Rex growled lightly.
“Don’t do what?” You asked, pulling away from him assuming he meant the hug.
“Don’t pretend that what happened was okay,” his reply was shaky. “I hurt you Y/N, in a way I should protect you from!”
You could see he was getting frustrated, anger in his eyes as he thought back to what he had done. “I assume very few clones were immune to order 66,” you tried to comfort him, but weren’t exactly sure how.
“That doesn’t make what I did any better Y/N, and you know it.” You shook your head and stood on your tiptoes, trying your best to press your forehead against his comfortingly. “What are you doing?”
“What I should have done when we left that stupid cruiser,” you mumbled before pressing your lips to his softly. After a few seconds you pulled away, nervous to see the Clone Captain’s reaction, however you didn’t get a good look at his face as he pulled you back, kissing you passionately. Rex’s hands settled on your hips, nails digging into the fabric of your Jedi robes as he deepened the kiss. Without hesitation you kissed back, biting down on his bottom lip as you jumped up, sitting on the table behind you. You opened your legs, letting Rex settle between them as the kiss intensified. “Oh Rex,” you mumbled between his lips, hand reaching down to remove his codpiece, feeling his hardening cock against his blacks.
“Y/N…” He whispered, pulling away from your lips and looking down at you whilst breathing heavily. “I don’t think I can do this.”
“Why not?” You asked, tilting your head to the side.
“I can’t forget what I did,” Rex whispered, his eyes purposefully looking away from you. Your hands skillfully removed the rest of his armour as Rex breathed deeply, hitching slightly as you pulled down his blacks to his knees and finally freeing his cock. His tip was swollen and red, pre-cum dripping from his slit but still Rex didn’t look at you. You jumped off the table and got to your knees, sitting up and taking the head of his cock into your mouth, tasting the saltiness of his pre-cum on your tongue. Rex shivered, eyes finally casting down to you as a hand made its way to your hair, pushing your face further onto him. His cock hit the back of your throat, causing you to gag slightly and Rex immediately pulled you off of him. “I’m sorry,” he said quickly.
You couldn’t help but chuckle, “don’t be,” you said before finding his cock once more with your mouth. You licked the underside of his shaft, before taking him in again fully. You gagged again, but expertly continued your movements as you bobbed your head along his length, tongue poking out to wrap around his head. Another one of Rex’s hands fell to your hair, both of them now placed on the back of your head, somewhat guiding your movements.
After a few more moments of you essentially deepthroating him, Rex pulled out of your mouth with a silent pop and looked at you with wide eyes. “I was so close,” he mumbled before looking away, slight embarrassment on his face.
“That’s okay,” you smiled, wiping the drool from the corners of your mouth. You stood up slowly, peeling your Jedi robes off and getting completely naked for your Captain. When your clothes were in a pile by your feet, you jumped back onto the table and lay down so you were flat on your back. Spreading your legs, you exposed your dripping cunt to Rex who’s eyes were now trained on you with a hunger you hadn’t seen since that day. “Please Rex,” you begged, voice clearly pleading. You cupped your breasts and played with your puckering nipples before trailing a hand down to your clit. Your fingers strummed at the sensitive bundle of nerves before Rex viciously pulled your hand away.
You looked up at him confused until you felt his tip poking at your entrance. You nodded and Rex nodded back to you before slowly slipping inside of you. You both moaned loudly and Rex let his body collapse onto yours. His arms wrapped around your waist as his hips began to snap against yours gently, lovingly. Rex kissed your bare neck, breathing heavily against the crook as he tried to pace himself. He almost forgot how good you had felt. You wrapped your legs around Rex’s waist, forcing his cock inside of you at a deeper angle making you squirm slightly.
He pulled your body closer against his as his pace sped up, hips driving desperately into you. “Kriff,” he hissed, biting at the soft skin of your flesh on your neck to quieten the intensity of his moans.
Your back arched lightly as he hit that spongy spot inside, drilling into you now at a pace you didn’t even think was possible. “Rex!” You cried out, nails dragging down his back. “I’m gonna cum!”
“Cum for me baby,” Rex growled, teeth pulling at your neck and sending you over the edge. Your entire body lit up with pleasure as your legs went slack around his waist. Your clit was throbbing from the sheer force of your orgasm and beads of sweat were dripping down your temple. “Fuck, I’m gonna cum,” Rex spluttered as his hips stuttered against yours. Thick ropes of cum erupted from his slit and deep inside of you as he continued to fuck into you. “Take it all baby. Please,” he begged, his hips finally stilling against you. You nodded, breathing heavily. “I love you. I love you so much,” he blurted out.
Your eyes widened and your breath caught in your throat at his confession, but you were quick to reciprocate the feeling. “I love you too Rex.” He pulled away from your neck to press a chaste kiss to your lips, cock sliding out of you slowly. “I always have.”
“Same here,” he whispered against your lips. Rex’s hands slid from around your waist and came to cup your face. “You should get some rest. I still have a lot of planning to do.”
“I don’t want to sleep without you,” you grumbled, watching as Rex stood up and pulled his blacks back up his toned body.
“How about I cuddle you until you fall asleep?” Rex suggested. Your eyes lit up and you smiled wildly, nodding excitedly. “Come on then,” he chuckled.
“Let me get dressed first,” you smiled, picking your clothes up off the floor and quickly dressing yourself.
You followed Rex into the bedroom and climbed into the abandoned bed together. He was quick to place your head on his chest. The sound of his heartbeat was quick to lull you into a restful slumber, being in his arms just felt so right. “Goodnight, my sweet Jedi,” Rex whispered as he pressed a kiss on the top of your head.

being a comfort officer for the 501st had been a rollercoaster of a ride, but one you had enjoyed so far. the members of the 501st had all fallen for you, but there was somebody in particular who caught your attention: captain rex.
currently, rex's cock was in your mouth as he squirmed underneath you. his cock was so far in the back of your throat that you were gagging for air, however rex's delicious moans kept you from coming up. rex was completely at your mercy and you were loving every second of it. you see, rex was the only submissive member of the 501st in the bedroom. the captain would submit to you completely and without question. rex's love for you was pure and unfiltered and he told you that every time he saw you. but that was for another time. right now, you bobbed your head along rex's cock and revealed in the sounds he made. "oh maker, y/n," he groaned grasping your hair in his hands. "can't take it anymore, need to be inside of you."
you pulled off his cock with a 'pop' sound and nodded, a smirk gracing your lips. you loved it when he begged for you and he was so close to begging. you turned around and shimmied your pants down your legs until they pooled at your ankles, shaking your arse at him teasingly. rex could let out a slow moan as he reached for the plush of your arse. taking each cheek in either hand, he squeezed tightly as he admired the way you filled his palms. his cock was so hard, it was hot to the touch and beads of pre cum were now dripping down his shaft. you turned around again to look at rex, still smiling. "poor baby, do you need me?" you asked teasingly. rex's throat was dry and all's he could do was nod as he swallowed. you obliged, pushing him down onto your bed and crawling on top of him. you teased him by grinding your pussy against his thigh, coating it with your wetness that had accumulated just from sucking him off.
rex sighed and grasped your hips. "please," he begged.
you cocked an eyebrow at him. "you know better than 'please'," you smiled, still grinding against him.
"y/n, baby, i'm begging you," he pleaded. "i need you to ride me. i need it."
"good boy," you whispered before making your way up to his cock. you aligned it perfectly with your cunt and slowly lowered yourself down on top of him. you were being so slow, rex was desperate to thrust himself up into you to bottom out, but he knew better than that. the last time he did you had tied him to your bed post for hours and made him watch as you brought yourself to orgasm again and again. "maker, rex, you're throbbing."
"i wonder why," rex groaned as he rolled his eyes at you. you slapped him slightly, causing the captain to look at you with wide eyes.
"don't give me sass," you growled, before plonking yourself down on his last inch quickly.
"holy fuck," rex moaned out, throwing his head back.
you let out a chuckle and began to move your hips up and down, your pace agonisingly slow. "you like that pretty boy?" you whispered, bending down to give his lips a quick peck. rex nodded, eyes glossy and wide as he looked up at you. his eyes trailed down to your breasts, watching as they bounced with each bounce you did. it didn't take you long before you were quickening your pace, already bringing rex to orgasm. his eyes told you exactly what you wanted to know. "gonna cum rexy?" you asked cockily.
"y-yeah," he whimpered, fists grasping the sheets beneath him. you laughed and continued bouncing up and down, eager to make the clone captain cum in less than a minute. you made a few more movements with your hips before rex was a stuttering, moaning mess beneath you. "cumming y/n-" he screamed out, letting the others in his squad know you were fucking him senseless.
"my my," you whispered, slowing down as he came inside of you. "you made a mess pretty boy."
"'m sorry," he whimpered. rex's eyes were glued to where you were joined, watching as you lifted yourself up off his cock, his cum dribbling out of you.
"my eyes are up here," you snapped. rex's eyes shot up so he was looking at you directly in the eye. you were smiling sweetly at him now, watching as his face softened.
"sorry love," he mumbled. you bent down, eye-level with his cock and put it in your mouth once more. "w-what are - ah - you doing?"
"sensitive?" you choked, mouthful of his cock. he nodded in response. "oh i'm not done with you yet, captain," you purred.
boy, was rex in for a long night.

“Remember, they are your team, your family, and your friends,” Jedi Master Rig Nema told you in the elevator.
“Do I have to leave the hospital wing so soon?” you asked, shoulders slumped as you stared o the elevator floor.
“So soon?” Master Nema gave a silvery laugh, “it’s been years, and Kix asked for your transfer personally, which means they need more medical help. You’ll be doing a great service to many people.”
Taking a deep breath you nodded, meeting her eyes, “I know, Kix has been a great friend to me, I’m honoured that he’d request me, but…I just don’t know if I’ll fit in with them; I’m not a soldier, I’m not a hero, I’m not even a Jedi.”
“You don’t need to be,” Master Nema set a hand on your shoulder maternally, dipping down to talk to you as her species was much taller than the average human, “you just need to let them know that you are there to help in any way you can, respect and experience will get you far with Captain Rex.”
She encouraged a nod out of you, but you were still anxious, sad, and scared all at the same time, had you been a Jedi you knew you’d be scolded for it, but you weren’t so you felt every emotion as it hit you. You’d never been on a trooper cruiser, you’d never been in action, you’d never been off Coruscant, the whole experience was overwhelming. Everyone on board seemed to have a routine and you had no idea where you fit in. While you were looking around the hallway, trying to get a glimpse of open doorways, Master Nema repressed a chuckle at your childlike curiosity.
“Ah, Master Nema,” you straightened up and snapped your gaze forward at hearing the familiar voice.
A smile broke out across your face, “Kix!”
He greeted you with a wave as you approached, “always good to see you, Master.”
“Likewise, Kix,” Master Nema bowed, “I am honoured that you requested my…student.”
The pause stung, you knew what she wanted to say and you knew what you had wanted to hear. Padawan. It was something forever out of your reach. As much as you tried to push past the fact that you were now far too old to even be considered a Padawan, it was something you forever wanted.
“Well, I only wanted the best,” Kix tilted his head to subtly wink at you. It made you smile, Kix went through medical training with you, and even though his program was accelerated and he was sent off to the 501st, he still kept in contact with you, which you greatly appreciated.
“And the best you shall have,” Master Nema put a hand on your back, softly pushing you forward, “I know she will do great things.”
Now standing beside Kix, the sense of anxiety returned.
“I cannot stay long, and I understand you will be underway soon,” Master Nema stated, noting your furrowed brows, “I will always be in contact should you need me, but I have every faith you will be just fine.” Kix shifted, knowing that she was largely talking to you, but trying to avoid attachment at the same time. Sharing one last glance she nodded to you, “Goodbye,” Master Nema bowed to you respectfully, “and may the force be with you.”
You wanted to call out saying ‘Master, wait,’ but you never earned the privilege to call her such, all you could manage was, “and with you,” bowing likewise and watching her head for the elevator to take her back to the hangar floor. She’d be back at the Jedi temple and you’d be off somewhere unknown to you. It felt like your heart had lost a piece.
“It’s really great to see you again,” Kix suddenly spoke, snapping you out of your gaze.
“Oh, yeah, you too Kix,” you stumbled, trying not to show your teary eyes.
Kix noticed you swiftly lift your hand to wipe away some tears, but opted not to say anything, knowing we all deal with sadness in our own way, instead he offered some words that would cheer you up, “you’re not alone,” he placed a gentle hand to the top of your shoulder and gave you a most sincerely look, “follow me, I’ve got plenty of brothers I want you to meet.”
Nodding, you put on a smile and followed him a little way down the corridor until it opened up into a large common room. There were clones everywhere; it made you smile at how unique they all looked. It was so different from some of the reports that made them all sound the same. Tattoos, scars, haircuts, and armour modifications made practically all of them identifiable from each other. You took in the room, seeing a dartboard on the side of the wall with a group playing. “You couldn’t even hit a clanker if it was three feet in front of you,” one teased another who was losing at the game, “how on earth have you managed to survive this war?”
On the other side of the room, you saw one with his nose in a book and a handprint on his armour, while another with a 5 tattooed was trying to talk to him. Kix let you observe for a moment longer and amused himself at your facial expressions when observing their occupations.
“Aye, Kix’s back,” one called out, “let’s meet the new shiny-”
They all came to attention and just as fast halted, seeing your figure standing next to Kix. You wore an outfit that was somewhere between a Kaminoan nurse uniform and a Jedi’s undergarment. Mostly white, with hints of blue, the uniform had the signature Kaminoan half skirt and pants with a metal belt that hugged the curve of your hips tightly with a blue gem in the centre, while the top half resembled a Jedi’s under tunic, fitted everywhere except for the sleeves, which flared out at your wrists. It had been gifted to you in order to match the colours of your new squad, but it was still a uniform you were familiar with as it had hints indicating your medical status, but clearly, the clones weren’t familiar with it at least not on a female human figure.
You waited for someone to say something, eventually looking to Kix, who was still amused, now by his own brother’s reactions. Finally, Kix spoke, “alright, you gawkers,” he clapped his hands, but their expressions didn’t change, “this is our new squad nurse, I’ve worked with her several times before and she’s the best of the best, she trained with Jedi Master Rig Nema on Coruscant,” Kix glanced around, rolling his eyes, looking to you and winking, he added, “and she’s force sensitive, mind-reader, so watch your thoughts!” With that they all snapped to attention, looking at Kix with an anxious expression.
“No, no,” you lifted your hands, concerned with how worried they looked, “I’m not a Jedi, so I can’t do those kinds of things.” You were partially lying, but you wanted them to feel at ease around you, not constantly worrying that you were reading their deepest darkest thoughts.
“So, you’re from Coruscant, you’re force-sensitive, and you trained with a master, but you’re telling us you’re not a Jedi?”
“Easy Fives,” Kix said, turning to you, knowing your past, “you don’t have to tell them anything if you don’t want to.”
Thinking it over for a moment, you pushed your lips together, giving Kix a look that you were okay, he turned back to face the company, “I’m not a Jedi,” you started, “and I’m not from Coruscant either. I was identified as force sensitive when I was a very small child, I was taken to the Jedi Temple, but…I failed the entry tests; I was too scared, too emotional, and empathetic according to them. It weakened my connection with the force in the way the Jedi look for it, especially now with the war.”
“So why didn’t you get to go home?” the clone with a handprint on his chest plate asked with more sympathy in his voice than his counterpart.
Taking a deep breath, you began to feel a little more at ease as you told your story, “Master Nema felt that I could be of great assistance as a medic alongside her in the Jedi hospital wing. So, she let me stay, she trained me to be a nurse, how the force can be used as a kind of medicine, a detector, and an aid. Despite never being able to be a Jedi, I grew up in the temple, but I was never…well, that’s not very interesting, but that’s most of my story,” you concluded with a smile.
The clones took to you quickly, they began asking questions about your time on coruscant and of training in the Jedi medical wing. It made you happy that they were so interested.
“Ma’am have you ever worked on General Skywalker?” A clone asked, trying hide his smile.
“Oh yes,” you admitted, knowing he was their general, “let me tell you he’s a squirmer, I can’t get him to stay still for the life of me.”
The troops erupted with laguhter, which made you smile, feeling more and more a member of their family by the moment. After a few more questions, a command came over the intercom, Kix told you that you might want to find a seat, the cruiser was going into hyperdrive. You hadn’t even realised that it’d left the bay or the planet, which startled you a little. Nodding, you found a seat on the windowsill, you wanted to see first-hand what it looked like, having never been off-world.
You saw Coruscant as a little planet beneath the cruiser, for a few moments it just got smaller and smaller, until the stars stretched around you and blurred your vision of the planet, before turning into swirls of blue and black. Just like that, it was gone, you raised a hand to the window, a heavy exhale leaving you. You felt like a child leaving their mother for the first time, you knew you were stronger than this, but nothing could prepare you from leaving the only place you’d ever called home.
“You alright?” A voice asked behind you.
Turning in your makeshift seat on the windowsill, you looked up, “oh, yes, thank you,. . . um, Fives, was it?”
“That’s me,” he said proudly, sitting opposite from you, “so, never been away from home?” You nod in response, “well, don’t worry, we all kind of know what that’s like, with Kamino and all, but we manage and I bet you will too.”
“Thank you, Fives,” you tilt your head to rest it softly against the window watching the stars, there was a comfortable pause between the two of you, he already felt like a best friend, “hey Fives, how’d you all get your names if you don’t mind me asking?”
Setting his helmet down, he began to explain that it was just something all clones did before leaving Kamino, it was a way of having some individuality in the legion. He was kind enough to actually identify everyone in the room for you, sometimes he broke into a little story about why someone had that name, like Echo. Eventually, they realised what was going on and some came to personally introduce themselves to you.
“We should give you one!” a clone shouted out after Fives finished introducing you to everyone.
“But I already have a name,” you shrug, wondering why they’d suggest it.
“Yeah, but now you’re in the five-o’-first, you’re one of us,” Fives gave you a smirk that made you blush a little.
“Yeah, okay!” you agreed enthusiastically after they all chimed in reasons you should have one.
After a few good laughs about suggested names, they finally settled on one despite your hesitation and objection, they insisted that it suited you, so you complied. Asking if this was the ship you’d be on the majority of the time, you decided to familiarise yourself with the passages and rooms. Kix offered to take you to the medical bay a little later but could sense that you wanted some time alone to take everything in. Kix literally had to stop a group that offered to show you around.
The halls were big and bright, you liked how clear the instructions you’d received were; it was a whole layout of the ship, the only problem was that it was a tiny hologram picture projected from your wristlet. You’d never had one before, always familiar with a pad or screen, but since you were going to be on the ground and out in the field they needed a more compact version for you.
“Okay…,” you were staring down at the little projection, “so if I’m here…then I need to go- oof!”
You’d run right into the back of someone. Taking a step back, you were prepared to apologize profusely, mildly embarrassed that you hadn’t been watching where you were going, but the figure turned around and you went silent. He was a clone, but there was a presence you’d never felt before when you met his eyes.
“Careful there, girly,” his deep strong voice said softly and kindly.
“So-so sorry, sir,” you managed, “I’m not familiar with this layout and I’ve never been on a ship before.”
“Ah, a shiny aye?” Rex raised an eyebrow and smirked, it wasn’t condescending in fact it felt more flirtatious. You smiled slowly, trying to repress the blush rising, Rex chuckled, ‘a little flirting wasn’t a bad thing’ he told himself, assuming you were probably just being transported and he’d never see you again, “let me see where you’re headed, I’m sure I can help.”
Bringing your wrist in front of you, Rex moved beside you, examining the map, hand on his chin. You were distracted by his proximity, you not so subtly looked over to observe his profile. Although you’d seen it before, he was different and you couldn’t explain why. You softly smiled noticing his short blonde hair, a personal modification. You could also smell a signature cologne that was different from everyone else’s. As your eyes came back down you were noticing just how much of his neck was exposed without the helmet on. A smirk came across Rex’s lips, he shifted his eyes over to you for only a moment, returning to the hologram. “You really should work on keeping your eyes where they need to be,” Rex said, knowing it’d fluster you.
Lips parting with a shock at your own behaviour, you stared forward, uncertain how to respond, chest now rising and falling far more obviously than you wanted it to be. There was a burning blush on your cheeks that even you couldn’t repress.
Straightening back up, Rex pointed to a box on the projection, “you’re headed here, it’s the hangar bay, I assume you’ll find your transport there; we’ll be prepping for a mission soon, so I’m sure you’ll get your instructions for departure there. And if you need any more help before then…just find me.” Rex winked.
“Oh right- yes, of course, right,” you fumbled, still feeling embarrassed, “thank you so much, I- I will be sure to tell Captain Rex how helpful you were.”
Rex tilted his head amused as he watched you quickly walk away, shocked that you had no idea you were talking to Rex the entire time.
When you found your way to the hangar bay, you met up with Kix and the 501st. There was a routine squad check before you were sent on your mission. So, you fell in line with the rest of them once it was announced the Captian was present. You swallowed harshly, eyebrows furrowing up together, fiddling with your fingers behind your back as you stood amidst the rows of the 501st. Kix looked over to you with a subtle reassuring smile, to which you tried to convincingly returned, not wanting him to think any less of you just because you’d never seen action and that you were anxious that this Captain Rex would be like a drill sergeant because you were a “shiny” as they called it.
‘If only the clone I met earlier were the captain, he was so sweet and nice, and-’ Lost in your thoughts you stared down at the floor across from where you stood, biting the inside of your lip you questioned if this was the right call, if you were cut out for this, did any of them really like you, what if Rex– it was then that you realized you were the only one with your head down instead of snapped into attention. Looking up and to your left swiftly, you saw Rex making his way towards you, his signature Jaig eyes markings were far more intimidating than you imagined. You held your head high and tried to mimic the clones around you even though you stuck out like no tomorrow. Rex had been simply and quietly walking past them, but your throat tightened when he stopped a few paces after you and retrace his steps, walking backwards.
“What are you doing here?” Rex asked, placing his hands on his utility belt with commanding ease.
“Well, I’m,” you began, trying to read his expression, but it was nearly impossible with his helmet on, “I’m the squad’s nurse.”
“We already have a medic,” he countered, really asking for you to divulge more information.
“Yes, but-”
“I requested for her transfer, sir,” Kix joined in, still staring straight ahead as he spoke like his training encouraged, especially while speaking out of line, meanwhile you and Rex simultaneously looked over to the clone defending you.
“Why?” Rex questioned, his tone not mad, nor upset, he was just looking for an honest answer.
“I need the extra hands, and she has abilities none of us have which are most beneficial medically,” Kix continued, “she’s the best I’ve ever seen, sir, and I have confidence she’ll save many lives.”
Rex slowly tilted his head to meet your gaze which was switching between the two men in uniform eagerly, “I see. I trust your judgement Kix,” the Captain concluded.
You released a breath you’d been holding but sharply inhaled when Rex moved to stand directly in front of you. Straightening up once again, you looked up, an anxious look still across your face. Rex lifted his hands and removed his helmet, tucking it under his forearm and holding it against his side. You met his eyes; jaw nearly dropping, lips parting and eyes widening, you recognized him immediately. Blinking you waited, knowing that if you spoke it’d be “out of line,” as he outranked you and he hadn’t asked you another question. You panicked thinking how disrespectful you’d been not to address him as Captain easier in the hallway.
“Welcome to the Five-o-first,” Rex gave a half-smile, lifting his hand to shake yours.
Staring down at his open hand, a soft smile spread across your face. Happily, you brought your hand to meet his, and glanced up, truly meeting his gaze again, your smile caused your eyes to squint a little as you spoke through it, “thank you…Captain, I’m glad to be in such company.”
Rex’s expression softened, and the tough, firm Captain attitude briefly faded, his face relaxed when he looked at you. In that moment, he didn’t treat you like another soldier, instead of a hard handshake, he automatically tilted your hand, his caressing yours from underneath, thumb pressed gently across your knuckles. He wasn’t sure where it came from or how he learned it, he’d only ever seen it when Anakin helped Senator Amidala down steep stairs, or out of a cruiser. Rex caught himself staring down at your hand in his, he carefully pulled his hand back from yours, not harshly, just suddenly, subtly shaking himself out of it, he looked at you once again.
“Well, yes, we should get…going,” he said, placing his helmet back on and continuing his inspection of troops.
You followed his path with your eyes, even leaning forward, head striking out from between the line of clones to watch him as far as you could.
“I think he liked you,” Kix playfully elbowed your arm as he looked down to you.
Leaning back into proper position, you smiled to yourself for more than one reason, before answering, “you think so?”
“I’d say,” another voice chimed in from your other side, it was Fives, he was one clone down from you and there was a slight amusement in his tone, “I’ve never seen the captain so stunned.”
“Stunned?” You lifted an eyebrow pondering that word, “oh, then I’m not so sure-”
“Trust us,” Echo, who was directly beside you, placed a reassuring hand on your shoulder, “we mean it in a good way; I’ve never seen him look at someone the way he looked at you, so take that as a good omen.”
Nodding to them, you could tell the line had been dismissed as Jesse came over to your little group from where he stood across the aisle, “See, not so scary, is he? What’d he say to you?”
While you and Kix began explaining the encounter to a few more clones who joined the conversation, Fives and Echo were waved over by Rex. As they left, it caught your attention; looking over your shoulder, you saw Rex standing with arms crossed, staring straight at you. His gaze made you quickly look forward once again despite the fact that his helmet was on, it felt strong.
“Sir?” Fives and Echo said in time, nodding to their superior.
Rex hesitated before pulling his stare away from you, “what do you know about her?” he asked them, not particular about who answered.
Fives exchanged a look with Echo and began, “well, she’s force sensitive-”
“A Jedi?” Rex interrupted with a frustrated tone, already drawing assumptions that you were undercover and they left him out of the plan.
“No, sir,” Echo hastened, “they identified her, but…she didn’t pass the entry exams when she was a child.”
“Ah,” was all that came from beneath Rex’s helmet.
“She trained under Jedi Master Doctor Rig Nema for her medical training though,” Fives added, “so who knows what tricks she might’ve still picked up. Could be quite useful in battle.”
“I’m not making her fight in our battle,” Rex said plainly.
“She’s coming with us though, isn’t she?” Echo asked, momentarily confused.
“She is,” Rex nodded, “but she chose the life of a medic, she’s a healer, not a soldier.”
“But Kix-”
“Is one of us,” Rex finished Fives’ thought for him. Seeing the troopers’ confusion, he removed his helmet to talk to them face-to-face, in a quieter tone he explained, “Kix is our brother, he was born and bred for battle, then he was medically trained. She’s not a soldier, she has abilities we don’t understand, but that doesn’t mean she should be forced to use them in war, she wasn’t trained like the generals,” Rex looked between the two, “understood?”
Fives and Echo again exchanged a look, now understanding what he meant as they looked over to you, bright eyes filled with an eagerness to learn about the trooper lifestyle, but an innocence that was soon going to be lost to war.
“Yes, sir,” they responded.
“Good,” Rex nodded, ending the discussion, about to put his helmet on when Fives coughed to grab his attention.
“What- uh, what do you think of her, Sir?”
Echo gave an eye roll, not impressed with Fives’ attempt at subtlety.
“What do I think of her?” Rex repeated, raising an unamused eyebrow. He knew what they were asking, but for now, he wanted to avoid the feeling that had stayed in the pit of his stomach since he first saw you.
“Well, all the men have given her a nickname so she feels a bit more like one of us,” Fives continued, “they decided on Angel,” Fives glanced to Echo when he noticed Rex staring in your direction again, “they picked it because she’s been so nice to us all, and she’s a nurse, so healing and all, and well maybe…” he paused, “some of them fancy she looks like one, you know from the moon of Iego?”
There was a part of Rex that was amused by the fact that his men were already falling for you and a part that related. Rex wasn’t sure what it was about you, but the gravity you had seemed to pull him in immediately. Everything in his life had been accelerated, his age, his training, his entrance into the war, he began to wonder if his emotions were too.
“I ‘s’ppose it does,” Rex smiled.

Never again (Rex X female reader one shot)
Tumblr media
Word count: 2478
((You and Rex met early during the clone wars. Soon things turned romantic between the two of you. You were off world when order 66 happened. Panicking to find Rex, clone force 99 finds you, and having grown close to Echo, you went with them. When Rex unexpectedly shows up at Cid bar you nearly break at seeing him))
   "Twenty cases of those mantell mix things?! How long have those two been doing that?" Echo's loud voice carried as the four of us filed out of Cid's office into the narrow hall way.
   "I have surmised they have been partaking in this recreational activity for several rotations now". Tech configured, eyes never leaving his datapad.
You shrugged. "It's become a thing they do together after every mission".
Echo grumbled. "A costly one". He did have a point. Hunter wasn't too happy about it either from his narrowed brows and slightly clenched jaw. It was bad enough we owed Cid for basic rations, but now we owed her for this? You sighed.
Wrecker was just treating Omega to a harmless and delicious treat, but unfortunately that treat was racking up credits on your tab. That was exactly what you were trying to avoid.
Hunter let out a deep sigh. "I'll talk to them".
You knew how much he didn't enjoy seeing Omega upset, but maybe he could compromise with her. A way for her to still have the after mission snack while owing Cid a bit less. Frankly though, would you ever owe Cid less?
At this rate, it was doubtful.
Sounds of blaster fire and some sort of crash coming from the bar had your immediate attention. Hunter was the first of you to race ahead to the noises. You and Echo were not far behind, riding his heels. Reaching the bar all of you watched as the remaining species fled from the scene. Only individual left was a hooded figure, gripping on tightly to a singular blaster. The source of said blaster shots.
Something about his demeanor and cloaked face felt known to you. But you couldn't place it. Until your scanning gaze fell to his forearm armor.
White and and blue.
Your breathing paused. Unable to register what you were truly seeing.
It couldn't be.
It was not possible.
But it all became real when the hidden figure reached up and pulled back his hood. Revealing his familiar face to you.
You were stunned at the sight before you. At the person standing mere feet from you.
    "Rex". Hunter said surprised. He was just as shocked to see him here as the rest of you were.
You on the other hand forgot how to breath. Your eyes froze on his figure. Eyes roaming him up and down repeatedly to make sure that he was not a hallucination. A well of emotions came rushing into you. Like someone had punched you in the gut.
He was alive.
Rex was actually alive. Tears were beginning to swell in the corners of your eyes as you racked your brain for anything. But nothing.
Everything had left your head at just seeing him standing here. At the way he was looking at you. Surprised was not how he felt. No. If anything he was beyond thrilled to see you.
The second your name and where to find you left the sisters lips he plotted his course. He had to see you. Take you in his arms and never let you go. His chest rose and fell in rapidly succession at your presence.
It was as if everything and everyone around you two had faded into the backyard and you were the only two in existence. Just you and Rex. Your beating heart picked up speed the longer you stared at one another. The way he was looking at you. That smile painted across his lips, maker that smile. If not for the shock, you were certain your knees would buckle and give out from under you.
Even the way his essence was calling out to you. Beckoning you towards him.
You were hesitant, however.
Tech's earlier statements about the inhibitor chips coming to the front of your thoughts. Bracing yourself and taking a deep breath you pushed past Hunter.
Inch by inch you moved closer. Searching his face for proof that he wasn't here to hurt you, any of you. For any indication that he hadn't turned. All the while he continued to stare at you with that look that made your heart flutter and ache so desperately.
Being this close to him, even on edge, force, was he still himself. Still your Rex.
   "Starglow". The unshed tears filling your eyes, broke open. You instantly knew.
This was him.
Your Rex.
He wasn't going to hurt you. Not now. Not ever. Because of this you leapt into his awaiting arms. Crashing your body against his and tightly securing your arms around his neck. His arms found your waist and pulled you close. Orange blossoms. Oh how he had missed that smell of yours. How he had missed the feel of you.
    "Rex". Your voice cracked as you spoke his name for the first time out loud, in several rotations. "Y-your here".
   "I am mesh'la". He choked back his own sob. "And maker I've missed you". So had you. So much that it had ached like a festering wound. Neither of you dared nor wanted to pull away, but you did, reluctantly so.
You grasped his face between your hands, studying it closely. His piercing brown eyes staring into your green ones. How the came alive underneath the dim gray and blue lights of the bar.
The texture of his dirty blonde stubble underneath your fingers. The scratchy nature of how it felt. The barely visuals scars etched into his skin. The way his lips framed his face so beautifully. You had missed him. And you didn't know just how much until he was mere inches from your face. From your lips.
Both of you were aware of it. How you both longed to touch one another. Close the distance the feel the warmth of the others lips. Rex's eyes were the ones to make the first move. Gliding over how lush they appeared. Parted just so. And with the simple action of your tongue running over them in anticipation that's all it took for him to break.
Lips collided with yours in a desperate plea. Fighting to feel, to touch the other after thinking one another dead. The mere sensation of his lips molding into yours sent your body into overdrive. You always lost yourself in his kiss. In his embrace. No one else made you feel as alive as Rex did.
That smile of his, you knew the one, that gave you butterflies. And when it would change into a smirk, may the force have mercy on you. You heart couldn't take it. His infectious laughter that would echo off the walls of whatever environment he was in. Usually caused by one of his fellow 501st members telling a dreadful joke. Who would have thought you'd lose all of that in the blink of an eye. Only for it turn up weeks later. Safe and sound.
Thankful you were that those memories didn't have to become mournful ones. Instead they could continue to exist as they were. Ones that held promises for the future.
It had been a grueling time not knowing. Waiting and waiting for any signs, but now it was over.
You Practically slumped into his chest as he just held you close to his heart. The steady beating of it the only sound that could kept you grounded in this instant. The cold surface of his armored platting on your cheek was a welcomed sensation.
You needed this. To feel his heartbeat. To know that he was real. That he was right here, in this moment. Nearly losing him almost destroyed you.
You let out a shaky breath. "I though I lost you, Rex". Tears slid down your cheeks. "I though my —you—" you couldn't even finish that sentence. Rex knowing the pain you went through, as it was the same pain he experienced. He tightened his arms around you, nestling his head in the crock of your neck.
Feeling his arms around you, like a warm protective blanket you started to relax. The muscles in your body becoming less tense, Knowing that he was safe. That he was right in front of you.
His own muscles started to calm. Like a fleeting flame. He didn't have to worry or fret over searching for you anymore. He had found you.
As crazy as it sounded he would have gotten on his knees and physically thanked the force, to the stars and back again that he had you back.
He let out his own unsteady exhale. "I know".
He did not want to pull away from you, but like you he had the overwhelming urge to see your face. See all the marks and impressions he hadn't seen it what felt like a lifetime.
Needing something to anchor him, he sought out the one thing that could. You.
It was always you.
Bringing you closer, he touched his forehead to yours. Kissing you was so very intimate, but this. This was too. At least between the two of you.
"I'm here now, riduuar and I don't plan on going anywhere". He promised.
You shook your head, confused. "I don't understand. How—wh-what happened?"
Thousands of questions twisted around inside your head. How did this all happen? Why did it happen? Could no one have seen what had transpired? It was encompassing. Paired with Rex bring here. By the maker you were finally feeling the affects of todays mission catching up with you.
"I'll explain everything". He promised, seeing how exhausted you were becoming. "But right now, I just want to hold you". You simple nodded.
You wanted answers and you were certain that he'd tell you everything later, but right now his request, you could and would fulfill-it. As easy as breathing.
"Thank the f-force your safe". You whispered against his chest plate.
He ran his gloved fingers through your hair. Committing every moment he'd done this before to memory.
Kissing you was absolutely his favorite thing, without a doubt. But this. This was a close second. Something about it soothed him. Made any tense or stressful situation better.
Too engrossed in one another aura's, basking in it, you had forgotten that you had an audience. An audience that was rendered speechless by the affections exchanged between you and the now ex captain of the 501st Battalion.
All expect the ex arc trooper standing off to the side. Who had known the full extent and lengths of Rex's and yours relationship. He was present there that day. One of only a few who were witnesses to the pledge you both proclaimed.
It was undeniable, the love you two shared with each other. No doubt in Echo's mind that the both of you were meant to be together.
Wrecker was the first of the group to speak. "W-what...did I miss something?!"
Tech was the next one to speak, offering up an explanation, "Technically no. By my calculations Rex and Y/N have been in a committed romantic relationship for a standard 368 days".
His much larger brother simply stared at him in confusion.
"A standard year, Wrecker". Echo quickly explained. Understanding he formed an 'O' shape with his lips.
You and Rex both shook your heads. "Longer". Tech blinked. "It's actually been 2 standard years since we told one another how we felt". You locked eyes with Rex, your continued smile everything to him in that moment.
The Captain nodded. "It's been one since we said I do". That had their full attention.
Hunter took a step towards you. "Y-your married?"
You nodded. "Yes. Off record though. Only a few were able to know". You gestured to the former arc trooper. "Echo being one of them".
The Sergeant turned his eyes to the newest member of the group. "You were there?"
"Me and a few others were the only ones". He replied to which Hunter nodded. Satisfied. Knowing the full extent of the reprimand the Captain would receive if the Council found out the truth. That he was married to a princess.
The consequences for such an act could have cost him his position. Or worse. His life. Thus a secret their relationship needed to be. Unfortunately.
"Well then uhh congratulations to you both". Hunter replied, rubbing the back of his neck.
You nodded in acknowledgment to Hunter. When you thought you had lost Rex, he was the one to step up and comfort you. Reassuring you that you'd be okay. Even if in that moment you didn't feel as though you would.
All of them really made you feel welcomed. After all they were the ones who stumbled across you. Ushering you to come with them. Saying that they could protect you and guarantee your safety. You accepted. Thank the maker you had. If not, then maybe you would have never seen Rex again. And that left a bitter taste on your tongue.
"Thank you". You said at the same time as Rex slipped his hand into yours.
Love was a concept that Rex never thought was possible for him. He never dreamed of having it because it was instilled in him early on that clones were bred with one singular purpose. To fight for the Galactic Army of the Republic. Never had the thought nor idea of finding someone, in that regard, crossed his mind.
Until you came into his life. Changing everything for the better.
"Your here". You whispered into him. You were still in disbelief. Tears streaming down your cheeks like an endless river. Rex lifted his gloved fingers to swipe away your tears, that affectionate grin warming your body. "Your really here".
He was real, yet you still couldn't wrap your head around it, but that wasn't important. All that mattered was him. What this meant for you. For the life you promised to build together that day overlooking the lake when you swore an oath through vows. When you both said 'I do'.
"I am". He replied again. This time the power in which he uttered it, caused your body to shake. The weight those two words held. What they signified.
"I love you". Was your quick response. Even if Rex knew it deep down in his soul, to hear it again from your lips made him so beyond happy.
Another kiss found it's way to your lips. "I love you too".
Smiling, you pressed in closer to his chest. Wanting to be close to him for as long as physically possible. Rex was your everything. Your best friend. Your lifeline. To him, you were his entire world. All roads led you back to one another.
Determined he was that the force weld it so. And as far as the Captain was certain he wouldn't allow you to be parted from him ever again. Not while there was still blood flowing through his veins.

"You know, I don't think I've ever been in Skyguy's quarters before. Have you?"
That one little question from Ahsoka, Anakin's padawan, made my heart stop in my chest. I'd been in Anakin's quarters many, many times, the most recent being just last night when we fell asleep curled up on his couch together. But because of the Jedi, I couldn't admit that I was dating Anakin. It was our most carefully kept secret. So, I shook my head.
"I probably have at some point, I've known him so long," I said, being very careful to sound casual. "But I don't remember the last time, or for what."
"I bet he's a mess," Ahsoka chimed, skipping along next to me without a care in the world. I smiled a little, despite how tired I was.
Anakin, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, and I were shipping out from Coruscant after a brief stint back here. Anakin had left early this morning, along with Captain Rex and a few other key members of the 501st, to start getting things back in order. As a result, I'd had to wake up even brighter and earlier to get back to my own quarters before Rex showed up to leave with Anakin. Now, because Anakin had forgotten his datapad, I had to go all the way back to his quarters a few hours later to get it for him.
"He's definitely a mess," I grumbled. To be fair, I'd probably qualify too. But still.
We pushed open the door to his room, and Ahsoka stepped through without a moment's hesitation. Anakin had said he'd left his datapad on the bedside table, so that's where I headed while Ahsoka looked around the living room.
I sighed heavily when I got into the bedroom and found it exactly where he'd said it'd be. Exactly where he'd left it last night, after we'd moved from the couch to the bed in a sleep-haze and watched a few short holos on it before passing out again. I tucked it into my bag, then headed back into the living room.
"Y/N! Look at this!"
I found Ahsoka standing just behind the couch in the living room, waving a t-shirt around in the air. A second later I had a heart attack as I realized it was mine, my favorite casual shirt, that I'd ditched last night in favor of stealing some of Anakin's clothes that also qualified as favorites.
I gave a noncommittal hm, trying to figure out how best to respond and not look incredibly, immediately suspicious, but Ahsoka quickly latched on to my initial response.
"Do you even know what this means?"
I tried not to let the irritation or panic show on my face. "Uh... Anakin's a mess?"
"No! There's no way this is his, he hates this band."
I swore, loudly, in my head. I was going to kill my boyfriend for forgetting his stupid datapad the next time I saw him.
"It means that Skyguy had somebody in here with him! Y/N, what if he's dating somebody?"
"Wow, Ahsoka, that's... wow."
"I wonder who it could be?" she said, talking to herself more than me. She turned away and started pacing the room, my t-shirt held tight in her hand. I tried to think of something, anything, to get out of this situation, but my mind kept drawing a blank. "I mean, who could he have brought into the temple without someone noticing? It's not like other Jedi make a habit of losing clothes in each other's rooms..."
I stood frozen in the doorway to the bedroom, using every ounce of strength and training I'd ever received to keep my expression neutral. There had to be a way out of this, some way to get Ahsoka to drop it and move on-
"Master Kenobi!"
My head snapped up, my heartbeat jumping to lightning speed at Ahsoka's words. Sure enough, Obi-Wan stood in the door with his hands on his hips, watching the two of us.
"What are the two of you doing in here?" he asked. "We're supposed to be leaving in a few minutes."
"Anakin... forgot his datapad..." I said weakly, holding up the object in question. He looked from that, to me and the obvious unease I must've been radiating through the force, to Ahsoka, still holding my shirt in the air. A smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
"I see that. And what do you have, young Padawan?"
"I found this shirt in here," she said, holding it out to him. "I think Master Skywalker might have been... with someone."
Obi-Wan walked over to Ahsoka and pretended to inspect the shirt, stroking his beard and giving a thoughtful 'hm'. The whole time, I focused all my energy on projecting the loudest "NO!" possible at him through the force. He must've heard it, but he was clearly ignoring it.
"Well, that's an easy answer. It belongs to Y/N."
The words were out of his mouth faster than I could stop him. I used the force to grab a pillow off of Anakin's bed and hurled it at Obi-Wan, which he annoyingly ducked. Ahsoka looked between the two of us, mouth open in shock.
"WHAT?"
"They've been dating for quite some time now."
Ahsoka whirled on me. "You and Skyguy told Obi-Wan and not me?"
"They didn't tell me," Obi-Wan continued, jumping in before my brain could unfreeze enough for an answer. I just stared between him and Ahsoka, mouth gaping like a fish. "They're just terrible at hiding it. I caught the two of them kissing behind a column in the Temple when we got back here a few weeks ago."
Ahsoka stared at Obi-Wan in shock, and he looked back, his arms crossed. I finally managed to shake myself out of it, the horror wearing off a little faster than when Obi-Wan had caught me and Anakin. I sighed, walking past both of my friends on my way to the door.
"We might not be as good at hiding it as we want to be, but the two of you are still the only two who know besides Padmé and the 501st, so... do us a favor and keep it to yourselves. And sorry we didn't tell you earlier, Soki."
I didn't miss the look Ahsoka and Obi-Wan exchanged as I passed them, instead choosing to ignore it. We were supposed to be leaving in ten minutes, after all, and now that I had Anakin's datapad there was no reason for me to wait around any longer.
"Do you want me to bring your shirt?"
I froze on the threshold at Ahsoka's question, grimacing. I didn't need to turn around to see Kenboi's smirk. I cleared my throat.
"Yes please, Ahsoka. Thank you."
"Sure thing."
Her tone was teasing, and I knew Anakin and I were going to be hearing about this almost nonstop from his young Padawan. I guess we'd deserve it, since we were apparently much worse at keeping secrets than we thought we were, but still. I wanted to get on board the ship with Anakin as soon as possible so I wouldn't have to take the brunt of the teasing alone.

Wait (Commander Wolffe x Jedi Reader)
Tumblr media
Warning: Angst, Mentions of Death, and PTSD. Words: 2.5k Pronouns used: She/Her - No psychically description given Period: Ranges from Clone Wars to Rebels. Mentions Order 66.
Execute Order 66. The three words that ended the war, almost annihilated the Jedi Order and spelled the true doom of the Republic. It was the order that turned millions of clones across the galaxy from free thinkers to robotic killers, human droids. The order forced the clones to turn on their friends in the Jedi and murder them under the guise they were protecting the republic, a republic that no longer existed. It was the order that sealed their fates and traumatized every clone apart of it, far more than anything than being on the front lines of the war could have thrown at them.
For Wolffe, the worst was yet to come. He'd gotten away from the Empire after breaking free from the inhibitor chip control, he couldn't say for sure what had broken its grasp on his mind, one minute the part of himself created as part of the Sith Lord's plan was in control, he was in the back seat screaming for it to stop, fighting to stop what he was seeing. And the next he was in control, the voice repeating Good Soldiers Follow Orders had ceased, the dream-like state had faded, and the bubble had burst. Reality had hit him far worse than anything he had seen on the battlefield.
But nothing could have prepared him for the overwhelming feelings of guilt, regret, and the crushing loss that hit him like a ton of bricks, just hours after he had settled with the relief of being free. Even now Wolffe couldn't tell you which of the three feelings was worse. The guilt was overpowering the best of time, but it was what motivated him to help the band of Rebels when they needed help taking Lothal back from Imperial control. He had to make up for his past doings, he had to make those mistakes right, no matter the cost to himself.
The regret for the things he wished to have done differently were things that constantly plagued him, the little things he should have done differently. Like being kinder to the shinnies when they came off the line, or telling Comet well done after a difficult job being completed. The missed opportunities to tell each of his brothers how much they meant to him, especially the ones who survived the war, but suffered a far worse fate. He truly did regret a lot of things, among them was not telling (Y/N) he loved her one last time, and not being able to truly save her from her broken mind.
By far the loss was the worst part of it all. Waking up from the chip's control to find the Republic was gone and he had helped to bring about its doom. To discover the Jedi Order had been destroyed, and he as well as his brothers had been the reason for it, the unwilling executioners that were forced to turn on and betray their friends and loved ones, only to further the revenge plot the now Emperor had been working from the shadows to see finished. The loss of Plo had hurt, knowing his last thoughts were questioning what was happening as his loyal troopers turned on him and shot him out of the sky, but the loss of his brothers was something else.
Those who got away from the Empire were met with two fates. Either they were left to fend for themselves in a galaxy that despised them and blamed them for what happened or they were hunted down and recaptured by those working in the Advanced Science Division. Either way, fate had cruelty in store for them. Either way, more trauma awaited.
Wolffe's fate after abandoning the empire was to be hunted down, as was Gregor's when he got away, and eventually those a part of the enhanced unit Clone Force 99, when their value to the Empire was truly discovered. At first, the battle-worn commander had gone out there alone, with one purpose. Find his beloved Jedi Knight, (Y/N) (Y/L/N). He'd heard the rumors of her survival, the stories on the lower levels of Coruscant of civvies taking pity on an injured Jedi, matching her description, they'd helped her flee the core world, to somewhere in the outer rim, and a few senators had aided in her escape.
Eventually, he found her, working with Rex to sow the seeds of what would eventually become the rebellion that fought against the Empire. A rebellion built on hope and sacrifice for a better future. A future she'd never get to see. Like with him, fate was cruel to (Y/N). It would answer her question about what truly happened to her best friend Anakin Skywalker in the worst way possible. A fate no one would ask for and was arguably worse than his own.
"What's wrong with him?" asked Zeb, gesturing towards the old mismatched-eyed Commander. Wolffe appeared to be staring off into space, not paying any attention to what was going on around him. Rex and Gregor had turned to their brother shortly after, Gregor noticing he held on to (Y/N)'s duel-bladed lightsaber, while Rex took notice of the hologram alight in front of Wolffe. The Jedi Knight and once hero of the republic who had stolen his heart. Both men knew Wolffe had lost his way when (Y/N) had been taken from him the first time, but he hadn't been the same since he had lost her for the second and final time.
"Give him time, he'll be okay" replied Rex, a sigh escaping him as he remembered (Y/N). She'd taken many secrets to her grave, unbeknownst to the Captain of the 501st, one of them she kept to protect him. The truth on who Vader truly was. "Sometimes the past gets to him, what the empire did and took away still haunts him. He's never gotten past losing the woman he loved" he worded, recalling when Clone Force 99, or the Bad Batch as they preferred finally found where Dr. Hemlock was stationed, when they infiltrated the base, hoping to find both Omega and Crosshair.
What they discovered was terrible, to say the least. Clones that once served the republic strapped down onto tables, tortured, tormented, and forced to suffer all in the name of science. Some were in tanks, others were left to die a slow and likely painful death. Others had been incorporated into Phase 1 of the Death Trooper program, to which the constant torture would have been far kinder. Among those rescued that day were Crosshair, Omega, Tech who had survived his fall, Cody, Wolffe, and Comet. Despite the best efforts, both Cody and Comet passed on shortly after returning to Pabu.
"That's (Y/N)" whispered Kanan, upon glancing to the hologram. She was one of the few Jedi the people of the Empire hadn't forgotten, remembered along with Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Plo Koon, Yoda, and Mace Windu. She was supposedly killed during Order 66 but eventually reappeared, being captured and taken Nur, nobody truly knows what happened to her there. For months many theorised she'd been killed by Vader or one of the inquisitors after being tortured for information.
In reality, the constant torment and suffering had done something far worse, it had broken her mind and shattered her will to continue fighting until she found strength in the dark side. Until she had willingly joined the inquisitors as the First Sister, second only to the Grand Inquisitor. She wasn't sent out to hunt very often, but when she was she never failed. More often than not (Y/N) was the one whom Vader called upon when he needed assistance with his mission to destroy what remained of the Jedi.
"Where is she now?" asked Ezra, not quite putting two and two together, or catching on to what haunted Wolffe every waking moment. Rex and Gregor could only share a common glance, knowing losing her once was bad enough for Wolffe, but twice was nothing less than cruel. Even when he'd spared her more suffering.
"Gone" grumbled Wolffe, his voice resembling that of a growl upon the memories he tried so hard to bury over the years came back. How his heart sank when he was rescued, learning (Y/N) hadn't been found since both of them had been captured. His refusal to give up hope had paid off, but it hadn't lasted long. When he was reunited with her, her once pretty eyes were the orange/red of the Sith, her mind twisted by the dark side and all she had learned to rely on was constant suffering. Her mind had become so twisted she no longer knew the difference between good and bad, and no longer recognized herself.
"When she was captured, the empire corrupted her mind via torture. She became an inquisitor" voiced Rex, recalling Wolffe's refusal to believe she couldn't be saved as others stated. Instead, he tracked her wherever she went, and became a thorn in her side even at the risk of his own life. When the opportunity arose to capture her again, he took it. Bringing her aboard the ship, he, Rex, and Gregor shared at the time, determination alight in his mismatched eyes, he was going to save her and help her heal, he wasn't going to fail her again.
"She's one of them?" accused Zeb, recalling his encounters with the pests known as Inquisitors. Although he'd admit he didn't know who they were before, just that they were out hunting for his friends, his family in Kanan and Ezra. Thrust they were his enemy.
"Was" corrected Rex, not taking any notice when Zeb fell into silence and Sabine glanced to Kanan and Ezra, seeing their surprise upon hearing one could stop being an inquisitor. "Wolffe refused to give up on (Y/N). When he had the chance to get her away from the Empire he took it, we tried for months to help her, and it worked for a time until it became clear they wouldn't let her go" he added, shivering at the memory of Vader hunting them, of the villages and towns he burnt and the innocents who were slain just to get to her.
"They killed her" guessed Sabine, not seeing any other fate that could have been waiting for the former Jedi Knight. Although the Mandalorian could only assume her death if it was at the hands of the empire, wouldn't have been quick. They would have seen her as a threat to them, those who rebelled against their iron fist rule would have seen her as a beckon of hope.
"No, I did" growled Wolffe, standing briefly before slumping back into his chair again. (Y/N)'s lightsaber tightly in his grasp, the only thing he truly had left of her now. A stray tear slid down his cheek upon remembering the day burnt into his memory. The four of them were on the run, looking for a way to lose Vader, and the Inquisitors hunting them, looking for a way to get off the planet. When it became clear they had no way out, when they became cornered, (Y/N) fought Vader and the Inquisitors off for as long as she could, all but ordering Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor to go.
But Wolffe had refused to leave, he couldn't bear to lose her again, lose another he loved. So he stayed at her side until she used her power to push him away. Speaking the haunting words of I Love You beforehand. The moment the former Commander of the 104th Battalion realized the inquisitors intended to turn her to the dark side again, he made the hardest choice. Once again he aimed his blaster, but this time at (Y/N), he closed mismatched eyes and pulled the trigger. He saved her from further torment, assured she would finally be at peace, but at the cost of shattering his own heart and being forced to live without her.
"It was the only way to save her" whispered Wolffe, knowing she was still with him. He felt her there during the moments when his PTSD got the better of him. He felt her hand on his shoulder and could swear sometimes he heard her voice willing him to continue his fight. He sensed her there during the toughest moments when he struggled with the past.
"That's why you went into hiding" commented Ezra, figuring the trio of clones hadn't just decided to "retire" due to their accelerated aging. They were among some of the best battle-tested minds there was. The rebellion needed them to survive, but it was becoming clear at least Wolffe needed a reason to fight. He'd lost his will the day he had to kill (Y/N) to save her from repeating the cruelty of being broken and twisted again until she lost herself once more.
"We know (Y/N) would have taken the opportunity to stick it to the empire if she was here" laughed Gregor, his golden eyes glued to the hologram of the Jedi Knight in question. To the hologram of the friend waiting for them. "She was a fighter, a shining light of hope we needed during the darkest days of the war. Let's not let her down now by sitting by and doing nothing"
"So you'll fight with us" questioned Zeb
"Yup" replied Gregor. "It's about time we remembered who we are, right Wolffe?" he added, nudging Wolffe who had since stood, the old Commander didn't pay much attention though, instead looking to the back door of the old walker. Where he could have sworn he'd seen a figure bathed in a blue glow standing. Where he saw (Y/N) standing, nodding with a proud grin, as if she was finally answering his call to see her again. As if she was encouraging them to fight for something they chose to believe in rather than something forced upon them like the Republic and Empire.
"You see her right?" asked Wolffe, too afraid to look away in case she disappeared again. Rex only offered a small soft smile upon seeing (Y/N), a guiding angel for them to follow, as she had been once before in what felt like a lifetime ago. A life that seemed far less complicated than the one they had now. Back then they were soldiers created to fight a war, to sacrifice. Now they were relics of the same past as the Jedi and the Republic. They survived the horrors the empire threw at them, abandoned and left to fend for themselves, broken and forgotten by the galaxy around them.
But now, it was time to rise and fight once again. Remind the Emperor why clones were created in the first place and remind him why they were better than the conscripted troopers he relied on to defend the weakening empire. This time they weren't going to be soldiers of the republic, commanders in a war they didn't choose. They would be beacons of hope amidst the shadow the empire cast across the galaxy, they were going to fight and sacrifice for a cause they chose to fight for.

Jango told Arla that Rex and Cody were her kids. She doesn't remember them, but then again, she doesn't remember a lot of things these days.
She's trying to include them in her life anyway.

Just an idea i was rolling around last night in the throes of my insomnia.
Imagine: A Jedi resting with their men after a particularly hard battle. It’s late and the Jedi went back to save one squad. They’re struggling to understand why their Jedi felt they were important enough to be saved when they fell behind. Their Jedi gives them this explanation:
Sir, I still don’t understand why you came back for us. We’re made to be expendable, nothing more than numbers.”
“Not to me. Look at the stars. Looking at them right now they don’t seem extraordinary, correct? At first glance they all look the same, serving the same purpose, nothing special about a bunch of identical stars. No one would miss it if a single star burned out. But that’s not true. Those stars aren’t identical, not really. Once you look at them, really look at them, you see how unique they are. Some are huge suns, warming the planets of a system. Others are smaller, contributing to constellations. Some burn fiery hot and wild while others are cooler and steady. No two stars burn the same and the loss of one of them will always impact those around it. A sun burns out and a whole system is gone. A constellation is incomplete when it is missing even just one of its contributors. When a star dies, those around it are left with the empty void. They try to compensate for the loss but it’s never quite the same. It will always be a little less brilliant with one missing. And what happens when it’s more than one? First one star, then the next, and then the next. It won’t be long before the sky is dark, empty, and lonely; no light to guide our way.
That is why I came back for your squad trooper. You and your brothers are stars, appearing identical at first glance but each and every one of you is, bright, warm, beautifully unique and unquestionably important. The loss of even one trooper leaves us incomplete, coping with the emptiness their absence brings, the loneliness of a brother no longer by our side, a system plunged into darkness, and the surrounding stars trying to compensate for the light they’ve lost in their fallen brother. You’re neither expendable or just numbers, to me or to your brothers and I will always come back for you.”

It wasn’t far till dawn; the dark sky no longer sucked in everything surrounding it into darkness, taking on a new, bright blue color, and the bustling of Coruscant slowly rose again as the early risers of the city began the day. Rex’s brain was wired strictly to wake up at 0600; but at 0640, he barely stirred beside her, even when she began to slowly detach herself from his grasp.
The night before was filled with something rough and desperate, a love that was only reserved for when they were truly, completely alone. Then, he let himself lose just an ounce of control; tugged at her hair, gripped her wrists, buck into her core almost rabidly. It wasn’t much, but it was the most he ever let down. And she knew damn well and treasured it greatly.
But now, after the harshness of last night, was something else entirely; tender and loving. With his grasp as he slept, he was grateful; thanked her over and over again endlessly for her presence in his life, the fact that he could go to her apartment and come home to such a gift. He could never thank her or express his gratitude enough.
Possibly that's why he gripped her wrist when she tried to slip out of bed.
She gasped softly, and his eye, still half closed, opened completely and met hers. Her hair was not as neatly brushed back as she liked it, no thanks to his hands. Only wearing panties and the top of his blacks, the soft skin of her thighs looked so delectable under the soft light of dawn.
“I thought you were asleep,” She rasped out, voice hoarse. He grinned, very softly, only a fragment of the happiness he felt in her presence, and shook his head. Half of his face was still buried in a pillow.
“Why’d you think you could sneak out?” He asked her. She raised an eyebrow, slightly bewildered.
“I’m just going to turn off the lights.” She gestured toward the bathroom. Just as they left it when they fell asleep, the bright yellow lights in the bathroom peeked through the door.  Under the door to the hallway, he could see light pouring through as well.
Rex grumbled, pouting a little just to entice her. She knew how strict she was about turning off the lights; paying the electric and water bills in a city like Coruscant wasn’t easy. She must’ve been itching the second she noticed to quickly sneak out, turn off the lights, and return to Rex in bed. But he was finding it difficult to have her leave that long, especially when he was getting deployed that afternoon.  He didn't want to waste any second not in her presence, not in her arms; frankly, he did 't know how long he'd be gone for, how long a holopic will the the only way he could see her smile; he wanted to savor every single moment possible.
“It’ll be quickm I swear,” She said, and slipped out before trying to tug her wrist away from him. She managed to free her wrist from his grasp, but he rolled closer to where she walked too, outstretching an arm to her.
“Quick is too long,” He complained; while she huffed, he only smirked and leaned the top of his body off the bed, wrapping his arms around her torso and pulling her back into the bed.
“Rex!” She squealed out, giggling as his arms wrapped tightly around her, keeping her in place on his lap as he kissed her neck insistently. His hands moved up, coming to softly cup the side of her breasts, and she sighed softly, her body falling victim to his touches.
She could feel the smirk that formed when she relaxed.
“So I guess you’re staying.”
She gasped, realizing the little plan he initiated, and shoved herself off of him. Limp, he fell backward, his back colliding with the bed as his mouth fell open.
“C’mon!”
“You tricked me,” She retorted, crossing her arms over her chest. This only caused his eyes to drift downward to where her breasts pushed together, and she scoffed and dropped her arms, stomping her foot lightly. “Whatever. I’ll be back.” And with an accusing finger pointed at his smug face, she turned around quickly and went to turn off all the lights around the apartment.
Rex sighed and let his head roll backward. As his eyes fluttered closed, he drifted away, trying to focus only on the sound of her distant footsteps and humming. A small smile crept up on his face; he relaxed a bit more even, practically sinking into the mattress.
He didn’t know how much time had passed, but by the time he was fully up again, he could hear the sizzling of something over the stove in the other room. With a heave, he pushed himself off the bed and walked into her kitchen, seeing her prode at a pancake on a pan. Rex groaned and dipped down, taking heavy steps before he wrapped his arms loosely around her waist. His lips formed a petty, cute little pout when they found a spot to rest on the side of her neck.
“You lied,” he said once he finished kissing over a little bruise he left the night before.
She hummed, faux confusion laced in.
“You didn't come back to bed.”
She sighed, dropping the utensil onto the pan, and covered his hands with her own, sloppily interlacing their fingers.
“You were out like a light by the time I came back”
“What time is it now?”
She hesitated. But eventually, the words slipped out meekly.
“0900”
Rex just managed to suppress any large reaction, and instead decided to pinch at the soft skin of her thigh ever so slightly. She squealed.
“Why didn’t you wake me?” He interrogated, his chin coming to rest on her shoulder. It rose and fell as she shrugged, looking the other way guiltily.
“Looked like you needed the sleep,” She commented, moving the pancake around aimlessly. “Would you grab a plate for me, please?”
“Of course, cyare,” He said, rather cheekily, but still did it immediately at her request. Not once did his other hand move from where it rested on her stomach while he did the job; he was firmly pressed against her back, with no plans of moving any time soon. She lifted the pan and slid the pancake onto the plate he held out for her, going to grab the bowl of batter to pour another.
“Thank you, cyare,” She mimicked the pet name he always endearingly called her. He couldn't see her face very well, but he just managed to catch the way her lips tilted upward cheekily. The rest he could fill in himself in his mind.
“Why are you so relentless about that name?”
“I’m not!” She defended herself. “I just think it’s really cute, you know? How you call me that” She turned her head around to face him. A little smile just managed to creep up, and it spread to his infectiously.
“Hm, you love it.” He finished the sentence with a soft kiss on her neck, and as she flipped the pancake onto the uncooked side. She didn’t disagree, not even close. But she didn’t respond either; she hummed along to a tune, a tune they had heard the night before and danced to when she dragged him onto the floor at 79’s, practically on her knees begging for just one song. He didn’t say no to her, how could he? But what they did wasn’t really dancing. It was more of Rex slowly rocking himself back and forth his two heels while she took the lead, and even that just turned into a shameless grind surrounded by a crowd of his brothers and their own companions. But the song that soundtracked the moment had been engraved in his head, quite quickly for such a short period of time. He remembered it well when she began to hum the tune, rather sloppily.
It felt like an eternity she took making the pancakes, until finally when Rex had begun to doze off in the crook of her neck, she turned around in his arms. Her hands met at the back of his neck, pressing him closer to her frame.
“I wanted to treat you,” She added. When he flashed her a sly skeptical look, she shrugged defensively. “I don’t know how long you’ll be gone for.”
That was the comment that almost had Rex get lost in his thoughts again. That same dreaded feeling that plagued him when he was away from her, anticipating that every day out in battle could be his last. She saw the shift in his eyes, and she quickly changed the subject, coming up to stroke his cheek.
“You treat me so well, I felt a little guilty.”
He seemed perplexed. Eyes still glued to hers, he gripped onto the backs of her thighs, swiftly lifting her up and moving them toward the counter, sitting her atop it beside the two fresh plates of pancakes.
“Why would you think that?” He asked her. Gingerly, his chin tilted up and he softly placed a lingering, groggy morning kiss on her lips. She seemed to be more awake than he was; she reciprocated enthusiastically.
“You treat me better than the universe ever did.”
Her chin dipped down and she hid her sweet little grin. He firmly lifted her head up to catch the smile.
“I’m serious, cyare,” His hands came to cup her cheeks, softly stroking the eyebags hanging under her eyes, trying to smooth them out under the pads of his thumbs. She appreciated the sentiment, but it was hard to imagine it would do any repairing.
“I know,” She said softly, dipping down and kissing his nose, so incredibly soft. “I know you think that.”
Rex huffed, before going in with his hands, taking off a piece of one of the pancakes and popping it into his mouth. As he chewed, he shook his head in disapproval. And with a rough swallow, he finished his thought, so assured in what he was saying.
“And I know it's true.”

undercover - captain rex
Request: nope Pairing:  captain rex x reader (reader has long hair) Summary:  you're sent undercover to get an important data stick from a separatist leader Warnings:  mentions of blood, injuries Word count:  1.8K A/N: give me PINING rex he needs to be YEARNING. love me a pixel man. enjoy reading!
it's an easy mission. a very important one, but it seemed rather easy. anakin's briefing was short as well.
one of the separatist leaders had a data stick with important information about a few new secret bases. they thought it was so important, that the separatist kept the data stick on him at all times.
which is where you came in.
there was a popular summer festival coming up on the separatist's home planet. your job was to go there, have fun, talk with the separatist and steal the data stick.
to avoid attracting too much attention, only anakin and captain rex accompanied you. the three of you arrived via public shuttle, dressed in civilian clothes.
you had traveled to the festival and separated once you got closer.
and now anakin and rex are hiding on the edge of a mountain ridge, looking out over the festival terrain, waiting for you to show up.
rex is glad he's not wearing his full armour for once, because the planet is extremely hot.
'general.' says rex after a while. 'isn't she going to stand out? they're going to notice a jedi general attending a festival.'
while they'd all worn civilian clothes while traveling, your clothes had still resembled jedi robes a little. you claimed you felt more comfortable that way. and if rex could recognise them as "kind of jedi robes", then surely the festival crowd could recognise it as well?
'well, then it's a good thing she won't look like a jedi general.' says anakin.
as if on cue, you enter the festival. rex looks at you through his scope, and anakin was right. you don't look like a jedi general. you look like a girl who is excited to have a good time at a festival. and you had changed your outfit.
you're now wearing a blue skirt that reaches your calves, and it's fluttering in the hot summer breeze. a tight fitting black top and a pair of comfortable shoes finish up your outfit. no jedi robes, no armour. but what catches rex off guard is your hair.
normally, you wear it tied up in several buns or braids, saying it was annoying if it got in your face all the time. after all, you're moving around a lot during battle. but you wouldn't cut if off, you loved your long hair.
now it flows freely down your shoulders and back, and it moves in the wind and shines in the sunlight.
rex knows you're off limits. you're a general, he's a captain. you could be thrown out of the order, he could be removed from duty - or worse.
so he's kept his mouth shut all this time.
but seeing you like this, no armour or weapons or a concentrated frown on your face. your hair and skirt moving in the wind. rex has never had to hold himself back so much. to stop himself from staring at you so many times.
meanwhile, more and more people have joined the festival terrain and the music has gotten louder.
anakin and rex keep an eye on you as you dance and laugh and have a good time in the valley below. they watch you as you approach the separatist leader and laugh this jokes and touch his arm, pulling him to the dance floor.
it sparks a flame of jealousy in rex's chest. that separatist leader with his girl.
no, not his girl.
a respected general of the GAR. one of his superior officers. who is now on an important undercover mission.
still, rex doesn't like watching you and the separatist leader.
after a while, the separatist leader has had enough of the dancing, and orders a few drinks. you sit with him and talk, leaning in close as you're listening to him.
because rex had been watching you so closely, he notices the exact moment when you swipe the data stick from him.
but you don't leave immediately, that would have been suspicious. a couple more minutes pass before you get up and head back to the dance floor. without the separatist this time.
just as rex is looking at you slowly making your way to the exit, the separatist yells out that someone has stolen something from him. anakin and rex hear how he shouts for a girl in a blue skirt.
given that your cover is blown, you give up trying to blend in with the crowd. you run away from the festival as fast as you can, heading towards the meeting point anakin told you to go to if things went wrong.
it's still hot, and within minutes you're sweaty and out of breath as you make your way up to the mountain ridge. but you won't tell yourself to slow down til you've put enough distance between yourself and the festival.
you're running uphill and just as you round the corner of a large boulder, you smack into something solid. before you can defend yourself, a pair of hands grabs your shoulders to stop you.
you look up into anakin's familiar eyes.
'got it.' you say, still out of breath, handing him the data stick. 'let's get out of here.'
you start to move past anakin, but you're stopped again. this time, by rex.
'general, your leg.' he says.
you look down and see your blue skirt is stained with red. you frown. in the crowd and while you were running away, you hadn't noticed you got hit by something. so it probably wasn't too bad.
'I'm fine.' you say. 'I hardly feel it, let's just get out of here quickly while we still have a head start .'
anakin eyes the amount of blood on your skirt, then looks behind you at the festival.
'no, you'll lose more blood and slow us down.' he says. 'rex, bind her leg. quickly.'
'yes, sir.' says rex.
'it's fine.' you say.
'rex, bind her leg. that's an order.' says anakin, with a slightly playful look in his eyes. you all know rex won't refuse a direct order from his general.
rex looks at you. 'sorry general. general's orders.' he says.
'what if I outrank anakin?' you say.
'do you?' says rex.
'rex.' says anakin, a little more firmly this time.
rex clears his throat and steps closer to you, then crouches down. he pulls out a knife and looks up at you.
'I'll need to cut a piece of your skirt so I can use it to bind your leg.' he says.
'yeah, go ahead.' you say.
rex carefully cuts a strip of fabric from the bottom of your skirt, then puts his knife away. he briefly looks up at you and silently asks permission before he slides your skirt upwards, til it reaches just above the cut on your thigh.
'hold it there, please.' he says.
you take a hold of your skirt and your other hand comes down to rest on rex's shoulder for balance as you take the weight off of your injured leg.
as you feel rex's gloved fingers on your thigh, you clench your teeth to keep yourself from looking down at him. you're fully aware anakin is standing right next to you, keeping an eye on the path in case separatists would show up. you wished anakin wasn't here.
you feel how rex wraps the piece of fabric around your thigh.
'this is going to hurt.' rex warns.
'I can-'
you're cut off by rex pulling the knot tight and a sharp pain shoots through your leg.
on instinct, you groan rex's name, your fingers digging into his shoulder. rex tries to ignore you saying his name like that, and focuses on securing the piece of fabric in place.
rex gives the knot a small tug, and when it stays in place, he stands again. your hand falls from his shoulder and you drop your skirt, which is now knee length instead of reaching your calves.
'thanks.' you say.
rex nods. 'you're welcome.'
'we need to move.' says anakin. 'they would have heard that if they were close.'
you nod and the three of you start your way back to the shuttle bay. rex occasionally helps you climb over rocks, to make sure you don't put more pressure on your injured leg.
when you get to the shuttle, you quickly board it and take a seat near the back of the craft. anakin takes off his jacket so you can wrap it around your waist, hiding the biggest part of your blood stained skirt.
the way back to anakin's flagship isn't that long, but you start to get tired nonetheless. it's probably due to the blood loss, you think. you know if you close your eyes, it's a bad sign, so you stay awake by focusing on rex's presence next to you. you can feel his shoulder against yours.
when you get to anakin's ship, he goes to inform the other jedi masters the mission was a success while rex escorts you to medbay.
one of your arms is over his shoulder while his other arm is around your waist, given that your energy has drained since running away from the festival.
'thanks.' you say, as you and rex walk though the halls of the ship.
'for what?' says rex.
'being a literal shoulder to lean on.'
'you would have done the same for me, general.'
'you know I prefer it if you call me by my name, rex.'
'and you know I call superior officers by their rank, general.'
maybe it's the blood loss. or the dizziness. or the fact rex is so close. whatever the case, you get a sudden burst of courage.
'is that all I am to you? a superior officer?' you say.
you feel rex briefly stiffen besides you.
'for the sake of my rank, yes.' he says.
you feel anxiety and regret growing in your stomach and think of something to say to change the subject, but rex speaks again. softer, this time.
'for the sake of who I am without this armour and the rank of captain, you're more than just a superior officer, y/n.' he says.
you smile as rex walks you through the doors of medbay.
'I'm glad to hear that.' you say.
rex gently places you on a bed and calls over the chief medical officer. he smiles at you.
'sorry your skirt got ruined.' he says. 'I... liked it.'
'of course you do, it's the color of the 501st.' you say.
rex raises his eyebrows. 'is that why you picked blue?'
you shrug. 'I figured it would look great next to the blue of your armour.'
before rex can answer, the chief medical officer arrives at your bed.
'we'll talk about the mission later, captain.' you say to him, with a quick wink, as the medical officer examines your leg.
rex smiles briefly and nods at you. 'certainly, general.'

Warnings: feelings, fluff, mentions of war, use of Y/N, fmc, mentions of loss, intimate moment, jealousy, cheeky Rex, anger, a bit angsty maybe??

“Stop it, Fives”, I laughed while we were walking through the barracks of the cruiser.
“Maybe you should stop telling these stupid stories”, he answered while he nudged his elbow in my ribs.
I told Fives about how I first met Obi-Wan and Anakin the other day and that I almost punched Anakin in the face. Anakin was just so kricking rude and something inside of me liked the idea of punching him right into his face. To wash away that stupid grin of his.
“I can’t believe you almost punched him.”
“So do I. In that moment I also weren’t able to think that he would become one of my best friends”, I smirked back at him.
Fives put his arm around my shoulder, lowered his head to mine as if he wanted to tell me a secret, but before he could say a word we walked around a corner and standing right there was Captain Rex. Arms crossed and with a stoic face. A deep furrow was in between his eyebrows as he glared at us.
“Hey Rex”, I greeted him. Trying to get him into a better mood, but it quiet didn’t work. It didn’t work even a tiny bit. It just seemed like his mood was getting badder.
“You alright?” Rex didn’t look at me he was just glaring daggers into Fives who gulped and nervously put his weight from one foot to the other. What got into him?
“The General wants to talk with you”, was all he said more towards Fives, than me, but I knew I was meant.
“I’ll go to him in a few minutes.”
“He wants to speak with you now.”
“But I speak with Fives now.”
Now, finally, Rex was looking at me. His amber eyes bored into mine while his gaze was as cold as ice. His jaw tightened, “I don’t think General Skywalker cares much about that.”
I sighed while rolling my eyes at him. “Then we don’t let him wait.”
The Captain nodded tense while Fives took his arm from my shoulders so I was able to walk away.
“We’re hanging out later again?” I smiled apologetically towards Fives who answered with a simple nod. Sending me a little smile lastly.
While I walked away from the two of them I heard Rex starting to talk. I didn’t understand what they said but also didn’t lend this a second thought. This simply wasn’t my business.
“So what did you wanted to talk to me about?” When I arrived at the control centre I saw Anakin standing with his back towards me, looking out of the large windows which just showed that we were currently in hyperspace. Stars passed us by and were only a glimpse of light.
He turned around eyebrows raised, “I didn’t want to talk with you. Who said that?”
Rex, for kriffings sake.
I clenched one of my hands into a fist while murmuring swears.
“I guess I just misunderstood them.”
Anakin nodded. His forehead was still furrowed and confusion looked right from his eyes into mine. He felt through the force that I was lying, but that didn’t matter to me right now. First I had to kill my Captain for that stupid move of his.
“I’ll have to go.”
“I’m not going stop you”, Anakin agreed with arms held upwards. “Do what you can’t help doing.”
I rushed out of the control centre. Feeling the confused looks right in my back. Rex wherever you were, you weren’t safe. And I was pretty sure he knew that and just waited for me to find him.
Seconds later, I was still running through the cruiser, I reached out to him through my com and the force. But I couldn’t find him. My emotions were too strong and I wasn’t able to control myself.
“Rex here.”
“Where the kriff are you?”, bursted it out of me. So much for a Jedi having his emotions under control.
“In my room. Where else should I be?”
“Wait there. I’m coming.”
I ended the call, before he was able to reply, just to speed up even more.
Within seconds I was at the barracks of the clones and in front of Rex’s door. I didn’t wasted anymore time and bumped right into it. Once I’ve got some breath.
“How may I help you, General?” Rex asked politely. The Captain sat on his desk. Calm and without any kind of rush. He knew exactly why I was here. In this condition. The sparkle in his eyes told me. Betrayed him.
“You’re in a bad state, trooper.” I called out. The little smirk on his lips growing. Rex loved every second of it. Of my undivided attention.
“Would you mind explaining, General?” He stood up from his chair to walk right in front of me. Chest almost touching mine. If one of us would take a deep breath in, we would feel each other. I would touch him. Not just through the force and his breath on my forehead, also him in his physical form. I wanted to take this step forward. Hold his hand and let go, feel his body, but so easily I wouldn’t let him win this little war. For that, I was way too proud.
The Captain looked down at me with widened pupils and a growing grin on his lips. He waited for me to say something again. And he knew exactly what he did to me. If he was a Jedi it was easy to explain why he knew what I was feeling, because he felt it through the force. But he wasn’t one of us he just knew me that well. Which should scare me, that I’d let him get this close to me, but I didn’t. And maybe that was exactly my fault.
“If I remember right, you told a bit ago that Skywalker wanted to talk to me, but he did in fact, didn’t say that.”
Rex acted shocked, “That’s my mistake, General. May I misunderstood him.”
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms while I was turning around to end this conversation. I was done with it.
“What is that with Fives and you?” The mood in his room changed drastically from one moment to another. The air felt different than before. Was he-.
“Wait, are you jealous?” I turned around to look back at him, hiding a smirk.
Rex’s jaw tightened and so did his fists on either side of his body. He clenched and unclenched them, but didn’t answer me. Although his body language was answer enough. For that I didn’t need the force.
Slowly I putted my hand on his cheek and he leaned into my touch. I caressed his cheek as Rex liked it. I couldn’t believe that he thought I was able to have something with Fives, one of his brothers, when he stood right here in front of me. Perfectly and absolutely breath taking. Rex and I matched and I was 100 percent sure that I would never feel around anybody else the way I did with him. Rex was mine and I was his.
“How would I be able to have a relationship, like ours, with Fives when you’re right here? In all your glory and shiny armour”, I chuckled. His breath hitched while he putted his arm around me. To finally slim the gap between us. I couldn’t quite feel his body through the plastid armour, but being so close to him and feeling his chest rising and falling was enough for me. I was used to his armour and it also made him even hotter.
“I don’t know”, he muttered not able to lock his eyes with mine. “It’s just the way you act around each other. He makes you laugh and I think that you’re not enjoying my company as much as his.”
My eyes widened in disbelief. Had I really made him feel that way? Obviously it wasn’t on purpose, but we could figure it out if we talked about it. And luckily we did.
“I’m sorry that I made you feel this way. Rex, I’m enjoying you around me as much as Fives. I like it even more when I’m with you. Fives is just a good friend of mine, but you mean more to me. You’re my best friend, but most importantly you’re my boyfriend, secretly, but still my boyfriend.”
Rex relaxed visibly. “So I’m your boyfriend?”, he grinned from one ear to another. Oh kriff what had I put myself into? It was the first time I’ve ever said it out loud. Admitted it.
“Yes, unless you don’t want to be it.”
Quickly he shook his head. Grin still on his lips, before he moistened them with his tongue. “I’m a lucky trooper am I?”
“The luckiest of all”, I blushed.
Then he leaned down to me to close the gap fully and kiss me. Kissed me so I’d never wanted to kiss somebody else.

Rex offered his hand to you as you stepped off the supplies ship, it had a bit more of a drop compared to the usual assault transports. Shifting your medic bag to your hip, you placed your hand in Rex’s and took the big step, which was more like a jump for you; Rex stabilised you as your feet met the planet’s surface.
“Thanks,” you smile, Rex meeting you with a smirk and a nod, before heading to unload the cargo.
You and Rex had been assigned to deliver supplies cargo to an orphanage on a planet the Republic was occupying for ease of passage through the system. General Skywalker opted to send just the two of you in order to avoid appearing as if the Republic was establishing forces on the planet. Rex only agreed since there was no sign of Separatists in the system and it was a mercy mission. You on the other hand were excited that you and Rex would get a mission alone and that the General trusted you.
When you landed, you had set down away from the orphanage, as to not stir up attention around the area, but there was quickly a plethora of children swarming towards your ship, predominantly interested in the fancy transport as well as Rex in his shiny armour and signature clone helmet. They gathered around him and stared.
“Are you a clone?” A bright-eyed child craned their neck to look up at Rex’s helmet.
“Do you have a face? Or are you all actually droids?” Another questions him, crossing their little arms over their chest.
“I wanna be a soldier,” a little Ithorian said, his translator humming as he spoke.
“You can’t be one, stupid, they’re manufactured,” a Weequay nudged his friend.
“Alright, settle down now, younglings,” Rex began, “yes, I’m a clone, yes I have a face, no I’m not a droid,” Rex methodically took off his helmet and held it at his side, between his forearm and his torso, “see? And it’s not being a clone that makes a good soldier, it’s the spirit. Now, where’s the orphanage supervisor?”
The children were stunned and star-struck with Rex, you weren’t certain any of them were going to move, but soon after he asked a question, they all rushed to be the first one to answer, bouncing up and down, some waving their arms for him to follow them, one Duro girl even tugging at his uniform.
“He left before you got here when he- when he,” The Duro girl bounced, tugging at Rex to make sure she had his attention, “when he saw your ship enter the atmosphere he left but said he’d be back soon!!”
“Alright, alright,” Rex spread his hands out, “Angel?” He looked back to find you simply waiting, enjoying just observing him interact with the kids. For once he was the one feeling out of his league and you were feeling a bit more at home; a lot of kids came through the hospital wing and you were nurturing by nature, so they didn’t scare you; as for Rex his tone was practically a plea for you not to leave him alone with the knee-highs.
“Right behind you, Captain,” you lifted the hand you’d been using to cover your growing smile, signalling where you were for him.
All the kids instantly stopped, turning back to stare at you for the first time, until one finally asked, “wait- you’re a clone too?”
“Oh, no, I’m just the medic,” you admit with a kind smile, “but I am a part of the 501st Legion,” you said proudly, glancing over to Rex who was absolutely beaming with pride as you spoke those words. Once again, the children stared up in silence, glancing between you and Rex, back and forth, no doubt formulating their own ideas.
“Can I carry your helmet?” A young Torgruta asked breaking the silence, pointing with her whole arm extended towards where it rested in Rex’s possession.
“Ah. . .,” Rex hesitated, but at least he’d had some experience with her species, so he felt a little more at ease, “sure.”
Handing over the helmet the kids all ran towards the orphanage, some trying to take it from the Togruta, but when she hissed and showed her teeth, still some missing, they backed off. Rex shook his head with a furrowed brow, placed his hands on his hips and let out a deep exhale as if he’d just made it out of a near-death experience. Turning his head when he heard you giggle, he dropped his hands, before crossing them over his chest.
“Did I miss something?” He asks, knowing fully well you’re most likely laughing at him.
“No,” you press your lips together, looking over at him, disposition shifting from amused to a subtlety longing, “it’s nothing. . ., it’s just nice to see you get a taste of normalcy amidst the war. I’ve never seen you with kids before, and I think it’s sweet.”
Your gaze lingers on each other, but soon you’re drawn to a child waving you both down under the archway of the orphanage. Flashing Rex a genuine smile, eyes soft, you squeeze your shoulder up and tilt your head, “you think you’ll survive this one, Captain?”
Rex hesitates to answer, still caught in your previous comment, but he soon returns to his normal self, “not without you, and I still have a feeling this might be the hardest mercy mission yet.”
You laugh at his sarcasm, before taking steps in stride with Rex towards the orphanage. When you arrive, Rex has to duck to enter the small archway. It’s surprisingly small for a whole orphanage, but the children seem to be perfectly comfortable, each having their own part of the open room to themselves. There are drawings taped to the wall, each from a torn piece of paper that the kids had to share. All the toys looked generations older than them, and their stuffed animals had multiple patches. Glancing at Rex, you knit your eyebrows together; they needed this more than either of you imagined. Their spirits were so joyful, you would have never guessed.
“My-my name’s Luka,” a small Tholothian boy tugs at your uniform sleeve.
“Why hello, Luka,” you kneel down.
“You’re- you’re very pretty,” he stutters and you hear Rex chuckle behind you, “would you like to see my drawings?”
“Of course I would,” you answer with a smile, standing and letting him take your hand, pulling you towards his makeshift room, which is really a bed against a wall between two others just like it, but his space is filled with drawings, chalk, and crayons.
Rex makes himself busy with stacking the supply boxes from the ship to the centre of the orphanage. Every time he leaves the orphanage there’s a trail of little ones right on his heel, the Togruta with his helmet never far behind in the crowd of children asking him questions.
“Have you fought in lots of battles?” a child asks, skipping to keep up with Rex’s stride.
“Um, yes, I’ve fought in a good amount,” Rex admits, not wanting to get into too much detail of what he’s seen in them.
“Did you even kill somebody?” the Duro girl questions.
“Of course he has!” the Weequay answers for Rex, who’s busy shaking his head and picking up another box, carefully turning around, watching his step to avoid stepping on any toes with how close the kids were to him.
“Well, how would you know?” The Duro raised her voice.
“Because-” the Weequay began, raising his tone to match hers.
Although Rex could hear them, his attention was immediately drawn elsewhere; he set the cargo back on the transport.
“Wait, wait,” Rex bent down, placing his arms in front of the children; he paused, glancing around like a Nexu hunting, “let me see that, lil’ one.”
Rex carefully reached out for his helmet, staying hunkered down as he flipped his scope down with two fingers, surveying the horizon. It was too quiet, except for a very distinct distant buzzing; it sounded like a pack of hornets. Immediately, Rex collected the little ones behind him and started telling them to head back towards the orphanage, luckily they all obeyed and managed to keep a pretty good pace. Rex could have easily passed them when he turned to run himself, but he kept his pace slower in order to cover their six from the oncoming danger.
Meanwhile, you and Luka were busy admiring his artworks; Luka proudly set them all in your lap as he stood on his bed and unpinned them from the wall. Soon all you could hear was Rex in the distance yelling something inaudible from so far away. Luka perked up at the sound, causing you to speak a response, in order to put him at ease.
“Now what do you imagine Captain Rex has gotten himself into this-“
Your gentle tone was paused when you saw the look of terrified children running your way, followed by Rex with one blaster in hand, coming towards the orphanage at full speed. You furrowed your brows and tried to listen harder for the order coming from your captain.
“Cover- take cover- bombs!” Rex yelled and you managed to hear from across the large room. Turning to Luka, you shielded him, grabbing him as gently as you could in such as rush. taking him completely in your arms and hunkering down.
You looked up to see where the rest of the children were, but they hadn’t even made it into the orphanage yet. Rex was yelling out your location into his comlink. Your heart raced so fast, you were certain Luka could feel it with how tightly you were holding him. A near panic came over you when you felt the first bomb hit, thankfully a miss. But no matter, it was enough force to shake the planet’s surface and start to disrupt the stability.
Staring to where Rex was, he was now headed into the orphanage, children gathered in one place, and he was on his way to you, arm extended to the full length, Rex spread his fingers, reaching for your extended arm, but you had to pull it back to shield Luka as you felt the ground beneath you give way, the planet had split right between the two of you, and the last things you heard was Rex calling your name as you closed your eyes, cradled Luka, and then— it all went black–
Opening your eyes in quick blinks, there was complete darkness surrounding you. Your lungs stung and your whole body ached, but instinctively you were feeling what was last in your arms. Exhaling no matter how much it hurt, you were beyond thankful Luka was still near you. You felt his hands curled into fists at the collar of your uniform, he had clung to you for dear life. Hearing his little cough was one of the best sounds at the moment, and you rested your head back down on the rock underneath you. The planet’s surface broke and you assumed you were underneath the orphanage, but your mind wondered what happened to the other kids, to Rex.
“Angel!” Rex’s voice called, it sounded muffled and distant.
“Rex?” You groaned, not wanting to move, but knowing you needed to. It wasn’t as easy as you thought it was going to be. There were rocks toppled onto you. Once you shovelled enough off of you to stand hunched over, then you gently pulled Luka out of the rubble. Reaching into your medic bag still strapped to your side, you clicked on a flashlight. Surveying your surroundings you weren’t met with much diversity. Just rock, rock, and a little more rock.
“Rex?” You yelled tapping again on a random rock that seemed to be acting as a barrier. A few moments passed, and doubt crept into your mind, before hearing his voice call your name again, “yeah,” you sighed, before swallowing, trying to remain calm, “I’m okay- I’m with Luka.”
“My arm really hurts,” you heard Luka begin to sniffle behind you.
Directing your attention to him, you knelt to get down on his level, examining the injury, “we’ve got a broken arm, definitely broken,” you admitted, “so I’ll need you to stay very still while I place it and give you something for the pain, Luka, can you do that?”
Your voice was gentle and encouraging, never doubting. Luka nods bravely, despite his scared eyes telling you a whole different story, “this is really scary,” he suddenly speaks, eyes brimming with tears.
“I know, but we’re gonna be okay, I promise” you place a soft hand on his shoulder, “c’mon, we’re going to find Captain Rex.”
Luka nods, wiping away his few tears with the back of his curled up hands as you pick him up, carrying him on your hip. You look around with the flashlight guiding and notice there’s a distinct path parallelling the wall that Rex was calling at you from behind. You announced that you were following the path, and waited to see if Rex would respond, but you didn’t want to linger too long.
Thankfully he answered, “Okay, I’ll find you,” he responded, “stay safe.”
Relaxing from his proximity to the wall, he closed his eyes, sending a prayer up to the stars that you’d be okay after all.
“Mr. Rex?” A small voice called out, “what should we do now?”
Turning around, he surveyed the rest of the kids, they were terrified. They didn’t deserve this.
“Okay…well, if we stay in one place, we might…,” Rex looked down at all the little faces staring back up at him, and opted to choose his words more carefully, “we might find the air getting a little more stuffy.”
“They’re stealing our air?” one little girl gasped, horrified, “why would they steal our air?”
“Stop taking so much of it then,” the Weequay corrected, genuinely upset.
Rex held out his hands to ward off any infighting, but as he stepped between the two, the little Duro, with bright ruby eyes met him. For a moment Rex just stared down, luckily the child could only see the helmet, not the eye roll Rex gave behind it as he anticipated more talking and less silence, despite his oxygen comment.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Rex, sir,” the little one chimed in cheerfully, “I can hold my breath for three whole minutes.”
Sighing, Rex watched the Duro take a deep breath and close their eyes tightly as if somehow that would help their lungs; they lasted all of about thirty seconds, at best. But when they glanced up, Rex couldn’t help but feel he should be encouraging, especially in a time like this. These kids had no idea what their futures would be, half of them didn’t even know where they came from, and now it was up to him to make sure they had a future, no matter what.
“That’s…great, kid, really great,” Rex’s tone was almost believable, but there was mild sarcasm, “keep it up.”
The Duro smiled and kept repeatedly holding her breath for a few seconds and letting it go, taking a deep breath, and repeating the process.
“Alright, cadets,” Rex said by a habit, “I need everyone to follow me, single file and no fighting; we’re going to reconnect with Luka and Agnel and-”
“Do you love her?” the Togruta blinked widely.
“Yeah, do you?” the Ithorian boy seconded excitedly.
Rex tensed, there was a light feeling in his stomach, as if someone had turned off the gravity inside.
“Ah, well, she’s-” Rex started, squeezing his gloved hand closed while he tried to think of an answer quick, he didn’t trust kids, he knew that they repeated everything no matter who it was in front of, so he gave the truth in a different way, “I love that she’s my medic.” He even winced under his helmet at the pathetic attempt, when the kids all stared at him, not entirely satisfied with his answer, Rex just cleared his throat and changed the topic, “now let’s move out.”
Luckily there was a path on their side as well and it seemed to parallel yours. It wasn’t terribly long, but to Rex, it felt like forever, between his worry over you and the children’s constant chatter and voice fluctuations. As for you and Luka, the pain had subsided after the medicine you gave him and it was relatively quiet. Until the kid’s voices became clearer and clearer.
“Aura?” Luka spoke quietly, a smile growing on his face, “that’s Aura, she’s my best friend!” He bounced in your arms, pointing toward the wall.
You smiled back and went up to the wall, “Rex?” You tapped hard, “Rex? Can you hear us?”
“We hear you!” A choir of little voices chimed.
“I think the rubble is thinner here,” you called out, but were met with silence.
“Stand back, at least a few feet,” Rex instructed.
You did as he said, taking extra pacing just in case. You set Luka down and covered him; your back facing towards the sudden, but small blast that caused the wall to scatter into smaller rubble. Looking over your shoulder, you blinked rapidly at the smoke and Luka coughed. Standing, you went towards the explosion cautiously, trying to see if it had worked.
A familiar figure stepped through the division.
“Rex,” you exhaled his name, the relief of actually seeing him alive and okay washed over you; closing your eyes as he brought you into the tightest hug he’d given you yet. You reached your arms around his neck, slipping your hand just high enough to actually touch his skin where the helmet made a gap as he dipped down.
“We’re all okay,” Rex answered your silent question.
“Okay, good, okay,” you stayed in his arms, all the worry hitting you at once, what if you’d lost him, what if Luka hadn’t made it, what if you never found him?
“How’s the lil’ one?” Rex asked quietly, hoping to keep it between you and him.
“He’s doing good, but I can’t heal it completely down here,” you admit, pulling away from him, keeping your hands against his biceps, “who could have done this?”
“I have my ideas,” Rex says confidently, “but I think we should probably hold off that conversation.”
“Do you love Mr. Rex?” a familiar voice piped up, making Rex sigh; you looked around him to see inquiring eyes.
You met Rex’s eyes, or at least you looked to the slit in his helmet, before getting distracted, “wait-what is she doing?”
“She’s holding her breath, I told her to keep it up,” Rex shrugged, not entirely sure why he’d kept encouraging it other than to get some silence from one of them.
“You keep encouraging that, and I think we might see a Duro turn a whole new shade of blue,” you perked an eyebrow, silently commenting on his encouragement tactics, before turning serious, “do you think the tunnels go somewhere safe? Is it worth the risk?”
“I can’t be certain of anything right now, I tried to get our location back up to the General, but I think it’s worth a shot to try and get out on our own,” Rex said, “I’ve still got blasters and you’ve got the first aid kit, I think it’s our best chance…with cooperation,” Rex groaned, hearing another match startup behind him.
Shaking your head, it amazed you how Rex could command legions amidst battle, but a handful of kids completely took him down. You agreed and picked Luka back up, carrying him as the medicine made him feel weak. Rex lead the group and you brought up the back, making sure everyone was accounted for at each turn and tunnel change. You weren’t sure how long you walked, but you tried to keep everyone’s spirits up when they questioned anything. The last thing you wanted was for the kids to begin worrying.
“Mr. Rex, sir,” the little Rodian girl, named Aura, called out, waiting until Rex turned to face her to continue, “sir, I’m so tired, sir.”
Rex sighed, shoulders falling, but quickly reminded himself they were not troopers, they were children. He looked around as if to find any sign of the time, but it was pitch black save the handheld flashlight you had and his helmet’s light. You, in the meantime, made your way to the front, Luka still settled on your hip. Rex automatically raised a hand, offering it to you, and leaving it as something to hold onto just in case the ground was rocky or the planet had another aftershock wave.
“Sleeping on the job,” Rex commented in a soft tone, clicking off his helmet light, seeing the child you were holding fast asleep, his little head resting on your shoulder, and arms clasped, now more loosely than before, around your neck, “and I’m not even sure if we should be sleeping.”
“I know it’s hard to tell what time it is,” you agreed, “but I’d guess it’s night, or about to be,” Rex gave a familiar head tilt that told you to go on, “well, these kids have been raised here, which means their internal clocks are probably our best sign of the time at the moment. When they’re tired, hungry, everything.”
Looking back to the group, Rex saw a few rubbing their eyes, while others gave yawns, some even leaning against the walls.
“You’re right,” Rex nodded, “I’ll scout a little further, you head back to the cove we passed, it’s probably the safest bet; start finding places soft enough to sleep, with what we’ve got that is.”
Rex’s tone sank into a pessimistic tone at the end of his sentence as he looked around once more; you placed your free hand on his chest plate, bringing his attention back to you “we’ve got each other, that’ll be enough.”
You smiled your best, and Rex nodded again, before gently tapping the small of your back and clicking his helmet light back on while he scouted.
“Okay everybody,” you announced, “we’re headed back to the cove to get some sleep!”
A very tired “yay” could be heard by Rex as he made his way further ahead. When he came back to the cove himself, he found all the kids asleep, sprawled out on the ground. Rex looked over to your body, which you had taken to making as small as you could in a corner. He knew you were trying to put the kids first, giving them as much comfortable space as possible in the close quarters, but this was different. After all the kids had fallen asleep you had gone silent, near radio silent. Rex practically tiptoed around the sleeping little ones, which wasn’t an easy task since he could hardly stand upright in the small space. Meanwhile, huddled into a little ball your knees were tucked into your chest, arms wrapped around them, chin resting against your forearm.
Rex turned his blaster to stun before holstering it and joining you on the floor, “how you holding up?”
You took a deep breath, shakily; you wanted to answer, but no words came. A little disappointed in yourself, you turned to Rex with tear lined eyes, hoping he’d understand simply by that.
“I know,” Rex’s tone immediately shifted from a commander asking his soldier how they were to someone who cared deeply.
He scootched a little closer, and naturally, you leaned into him, letting go of your knees you brought your hands up to hug yourself, resting your head against his shoulder. It was a comfort having Rex so close, you finally felt safe. It was hard to keep a front up, given that this was your first experience like this since leaving Coruscant and if you were honest you were pretty scared. But at the same time, you didn’t want to scare the kids— the emotions were pulling you two ways, and being near Rex seemed to calm the mental tug-of-war for now. It no longer made you nervous or timid to be close to Rex, after your long night at 79’s talking through your emotions a bit more, you felt at home when you were with him.
Taking a deep breath in, you spoke in a low voice just in case the kids could hear despite being asleep, “we’re gonna be okay,” you tilted your head back to look up at Rex, eyebrows knit together, “right?”
Seeing two stray tears chase each other down your cheek simultaneously, Rex met your eyes. He didn’t want to lie to you, but he wasn’t entirely certain of anything either.
Using the back of his hand to wipe away your tears, he began, “we’ll get through this together; I promise..”
You nod slowly, taking a deep breath and exhaling again, in an attempt to calm yourself, “who do you think did this?”
Rex took a deep inhale, thinking over his hypothesis, “well, I wouldn’t put it past Dooku to bomb an orphanage.”
“But why?” you asked absolutely appalled and filled with emotion, another tear running down your skin, “they’re just kids.”
“My best guess is the Separatists heard that the 501st was coming, Dooku assumed General Skywalker would be on the grounds along with three battalions at least, so he paid off the orphanage director to give up the location and time of our arrival, that’s why he left the orphanage when he was our ships enter the atmosphere,” Rex concluded, looking over to you, who hadn’t stopped staring while listening, Rex managed a smirk, “unfortunately for him, he only got us, and he missed at that.”
You shook your head, “they’ve been through so much,” you look to the kids, “they lost a place they thought could be home, they were betrayed by someone they looked up to, it’s just not fair.”
“No,” Rex began, not looking to the kids, but still at you, “it’s not fair. But it’s my job to make sure every single person gets out, and that’s exactly what I plan on doing.”
“Let me help, just tell me how- tell me what to do,” you glance back to your Captain.
“For now, I want you to rest, as much as you can,” he tells you in a soft tone, “I need you sharp and healthy, more than you know, Ang’.” Rex runs a finger along your jawline, before pressing his forehead to yours.
“Sir, yes, sir,” you close your eyes, exhaling.
That was the last thing you remember, before turning onto your side and falling asleep. You woke up to the gentle shoving of Aura at your shoulder. Waking up swiftly, slightly startled, thinking the worst had happened, you looked over your shoulder to find Rex at your back and the rest of the kids all starting to stir. It must be morning, you thought to yourself going off their clocks.
“Aura,” you took her hand in yours, “what is it?”
“Luka’s not feeling well,” she sounded in a near panic. “Okay,” you nodded picking up your medic bag and following her to where you had settled Luka the night before. She was right, he looked much worse. He had a running fever and was still tired, his arm turning to terrible bruising. You began digging for more medicine when Rex appeared at your side.
“We’re not looking too good, we really need to get to the surface,” you spoke without looking up from Luka, “he needs higher doses; doses that I don’t have on me.”
“Alright, everybody up?” Rex turned and called; for the most part, he was met with enthusiastic spirits again, except for Luka and Aura, and a few who didn’t want to keep walking. Their little feet were tired and the constant darkness of being underground scared them, but they tried their best.
It didn’t take long for everyone to get on their feet and moving again. Once more you held the back of the line, now with Aura holding tightly onto your medic bag that rested at your hip while you carried Luka carefully. Rex led the group.
 “Are you married?” the Togruta asked him cheerfully.
“No,” Rex responded shortly, looking right and left at a split in the tunnels, deciding which path looked safer.
“Do you want to be?” she pushed innocently.
“Maybe, someday,” Rex took the middle ground again.
“Would you marry Angel?” she continued.
Rex sighed deeply, hating how blunt children could be.
“I’d marry her, she’s nice,” the Ithorian twiddled his fingers.
“I’d marry you,” the Togruta said to Rex a little louder than expected, causing it to echo through the tunnel.
“Thanks,” Rex shook his head, not sure what to say to that information, “any other questions?” He asked more sarcastically and rhetorically.
“I have a question,” the Weequay raised his hand, “are we actually going somewhere? I think we’re lost.”
You instantly felt sad, knowing that Rex was doing everything he could, you also knew that neither of you really knew where to go; you’d never been to the planet before and you didn’t exactly plan on getting stuck under the surface of it. Otherwise, you absolutely would have asked Echo for all the maps he could find for research.
“I don’t think we’ll ever see sunlight again,” the Duro girl panicked.
“Can’t we just force our way out?” the Weequay punched the air repeatedly with a determined look.
“That’d cave us in, dummy,” the Duro corrected, putting her little hands on her hip.
“Force- wait…wait,” Rex pauses, halting all the kids, and you follow suit, looking to the front of the line. Rex makes his way back to you, “I need to talk to you, I have an idea.”
“Okay?” you furrow your eyebrows, wondering what kind of plan he had in mind since it was obvious he wanted to talk to you alone.
Setting Luka onto the floor gently, Aura right by his side, Rex instructed them to stay put as he took your hand suddenly, leading you only a few paces away. He removed his helmet, letting you know it was serious.
“I have a plan, but it all depends on you,” he started and you grew wary, but you let him continue, “you are- you’re force sensitive-”
“Rex-” you dropped your arms, looking away.
“Hear me out, hear me out,” he gently placed his hand on your side, keeping you in front of him; taking a deep breath you looked back to him, “I think that you could use the force to get us out of here.”
“Rex…that was a long time ago,” you hugged yourself, looking to the ground away from him for a moment, before continuing, new anxiety to your tone, “and I failed. I failed those kinds of tests that require moving things. I couldn’t do it for the council-”
“I know, I know,” Rex says softly, sliding his hands down your arms, comfortingly, seeing that you were beginning to feel the past pressing down on you, “but…that was for the Jedi council, doesn’t the force thrive in all things?” he gives you a look of encouragement, like a captain assuring his soldier that they can make it, but so much more intimate, “your force didn’t intend you to be a general, or a Jedi, your force is for healing, helping, and saving lives, this is your calling, if this works it could save all their lives. And I know you can do this.”
You opened your mouth to protest but closed your lips. “There is…one thing I remember,” you meet his eyes, “ I’m not familiar with his force, but maybe, maybe, I could reach the General.”
“A maybe from you is more than enough for me,” Rex said, nodding until you joined him and gave a soft ‘okay.’
You returned to the children, checking on Luka first; you felt his pain heightening through the force. Stroking his forehead, you took a deep breath and moved to the front of the line, Rex right behind you.
“What do you need me to do?” Rex asked.
“Just…,” you rubbed your arms as you hugged yourself again, feeling just as nervous as you had been before the Jedi Council, “keep the kids back, I don’t know if this will work or what will happen so…”
“I’m right behind you in you need me,” Rex assured you, taking steps back, “kids, gather up behind me.”
Looking around you found a wall of rock straight ahead, placing a hand on it you closed your eyes and began what you remembered.
“I am one with the force,...and the force is with me,” you whispered, softly repeating the phrase, until your voice faded and you were only mouthing the words, speaking them through your thoughts–
“You’re certain this was the final location Rex gave you, General?” Admiral Yularen questioned through the comlink.
“I’m positive,” Anakin knelt down to touch the surface of the ruined orphanage.
“How did this happen?” Fives exclaimed.
“Separatists,” Anakin answered.
“There’s little chance anyone could have survived this,” Kix admitted, voice sounding broken; he believed he’d lost his captain and his best friend in the same day, “I suggest…we start looking through the rubble since they’re probably–.”
Anakin stood to his full height, waving a handout, indicating a request for silence, “Fives, Kix, Echo, follow me,” he suddenly spoke, taking off into a sprint.
The troops gave a confused look to each other as they were sprinting away from the orphanage site and into the bleak dusty desert. Still, they trusted their General and followed. Finally, Anakin stopped.
“I don’t- this, it’s-,” he stuttered, looking around, lightsaber still swinging at his side, he looked just as confused as his men.
“Sir?” Echo questioned.
“It’s- I can’t explain it, but stand back, all of you,” he then spoke to himself, “here’s hoping this works…”
“What is she doing?” Aura asked Rex, “is she okay?”
“Shh, we must be very quiet,” Rex gently whispered, noticing how hard you were concentrating. It almost appeared painful, your hand began shaking, and so did the pebbles around you; taking a few steps forward, he called your name questioningly, but there was no reply. When he tried again it seemed to jolt you out of a trance.
“I am one with the….with me,” you whispered, eyes rolling backwards, as you stumbled back from the wall, “force with me.”
Rex rushed forward by instinct, catching you as you fell back into his arms. A collective cry from the children came about, but Rex most distinctly heard Luka call your name through his tears. The kids gathered around Rex, who held you across his arms. Looking to the ceiling, Rex spotted a cave in.
“Back- back-” was all he could manage, moving back to where he had previously been waiting while you tried to centre yourself with the force. His body covered yours for protection and the kids were ducked down into little curled figures while the roof came down. When Rex opened his eyes all he could see was dust. “Captain!” Anakin Skywalker’s voice finally broke through, before he turned to a member of the 501st, “Kix, get my Captain out of there!”
Kix dropped and propelled line down and immediately made his way down with an even bigger medic bag in hand. Taking strides to get to Rex as quickly as he could, Kix brought out a harness clip, indicating that he was going to take Rex up with him.
“No, no,” Rex groaned, still holding you in his arms, “her first, that’s an order, Kix.”
“Yes, sir,” Kix didn’t hesitate to listen, happy to see you even though you weren’t looking your best.
Rex gently supports your head as you’re exchanged into Kix’s arms. Rex’s touch lingers as Kix begins to attach the harness for support. Despite being unconscious, Rex swore he saw your fingers pry apart in an attempt to reach out for him.
“The kids!” You jolt awake, heart racing. Your wide eyes quickly closing at the bright light of the room you found yourself in. Two days underground really did a number on your eye adjustment. Putting your hands over your eyes, you breathe heavily,  a little startled at the sensation, you wondered if there was something wrong with you.
“Easy, you can rest now,” General Skywalker placed a hand compassionately on your shoulder as he comes into focus, your eyes adjust to the bright light.
Swallowing, you glance down at your hands, before snapping back to attention, “Rex- the kids-”
Anakin smiles to himself, “they’re all safe; the kids are at a temporary orphanage right here on Coruscant, in fact Luka can’t wait for you to visit; as for Rex…” Anakin’s gaze went beyond you and you followed, turning to find Rex standing at attention beside your bed, still in armour and all, “he hasn’t left your side.”
A quiet pause falls across the room, before Anakin cleared his throat, “Rex, I’ll see you as soon as you feel fit again,” Anakin nodded, turning to you again, “good work soldier.”
“Thank you,” you smile widely, having never heard those words before now.
Watching Anakin leave, you bit your bottom lip, slowly turning your head to look up at Rex.
“Well, you were right, we made it,” you tried to laugh a little, as he sat at the edge of the hospital bed.
“No, you were right,” Rex sets his helmet aside, before facing you completely. You tilt your head with a questioning look, it was his idea for you to use the force to connect with Anakin. Rex looks down at your slightly bruised hands, taking them both in his gently, “we had each other, and that was enough.”
You feel a familiar blush creep up your neck, turns out you weren't totally past getting flustered around him, “yeah, but you’re the one who hasn’t left my side.”
Rex chuckled, seeing your smile and eye brighten a little, but made sure you knew he was heartfeltly serious when he said, “and I don’t plan to.”

I want you (Rex x female reader) one shot
Tumblr media
Never written a Rex one shot before so hopefully it’s not too bad. And yeah I started off kinda angsty😅 sorry
Warning: doubts her worth reader, brief mentions of unwanted flirting, minor hints of suggestive activity towards the end.
Word count: 3388
((Medic for the clones has had a crush on rex for a while now, but doesn't want to tell him for fear of rejection or Rex losing his post. Fives comes in with a minor injury and pushes/ teases her about telling him the truth))
Being a medic for the republic had its ups and downs. But you wouldn't have traded it for anything. You loved your job. Getting to put your endless knowledge of medicine to good use thrilled you, but that usually came with a price. It was difficult to watch so many clones that you had grown friendly with, end up in the med bay or on the operating table. Frankly the latter had been less frequent as of late and that brought you a wave of relief.
   You had a hunch, however that several of the boys, especially from the 501st were purposely injuring themselves just to see you. The idea had crossed your mind before, especially after how many times Fives and Jessie had came to see you. They had become repeat visitors. After a while you paid no mind to. You rather enjoyed their company. That was until on multiple occasions Rex would accompany them.
    You and the captain had grown closer over several rotations and you found a comfort in his presence. He was a good solider and had a kind soul. Would stand up for you when a newbie would question your skill sets or try to flirt with you when you visible uncomfortable. He would always greet you when he returned.
   It had all started when after being deeply wounded on a mission. He blamed himself for what had happened. You being you and seeing what the clones would go through, you eased his pain both physically and emotionally. Telling him that none of it was his fault. That he did everything that he could. He seemed to relax at your words, a genuine smile crossing his lips. One that sent sparks down your body.
   After that Rex would visit you whenever he could or needed someone to talk to. It would be about anything. Dealing with Fives endless pranks or the struggles of war. You just listened. Letting him vent his frustrations or worries. You always looked forward to seeing him. So much so it started to become the highlight of your week.
Along the way you started to realize it when Fives spotted it out. You had feelings for Rex. It was so gradually that you hadn't realized it until someone made you aware of it. And now it was all you could think about. It made sense. Lately his presence made you nervous. Butterflies would form in your stomach when he came around. And when his hand would brush your shoulder you felt warm. But you knew you couldn't tell him.
    Not when it could mean the stripping of his rank or position. No, you wouldn't do that to him. Not when he worked so hard, sacrificed so much to get where he was.
Besides you weren't worth the risk.
You knew that.
   Fives and Jessie thought otherwise. And they made it a habit to tell you every chance they got. Today was no different. Both he and Echo had managed to get themselves into a fight in the cafeteria over a simple disagreement according to the calmer of the two.
    "It was his fault". Fives grumbled as I looked over his bruised cheek. The purple hue was beginning to set in, but with a bacta patch he'd be healed in no time.
    "Are you sure?" You teased lightly.
Fives scoffed as you gently placed the patch on his cheek. Echo chuckled beside his fellow brother and rolled his eyes, then crossed his arms over his chest plate.
    "You provoked him, Fives".
     "He was asking for it". He voice had a tint of malice to it.
You glanced up at Echo, searching for answers. He shook his head. Whatever had happened in the mess hall had clearly set Fives off.
   "Rex would have let him have it too". He muttered the last part, just loud enough that you could hear it. And it certainly caught your attention. It was rare for the captain to get into fights. Most of them were usually over which clone had made a unwelcome pass at you.
    "Fives". Echo warned him.
     "What happened?" You paid no attention to Echo's warning. You had a hunch what had set the arc trooper off.
    "Newbie couldn't keep his snide comments about you to himself". He growled protectively. You signed.
    "He's not the first one to do so and he's probably not going to be the last".
Out of the corner of your eyes you could see his fist and jaw clench. You hated seeing him upset, just as much as he and the others hated how some of their fellow brothers saw and treated you. Hated that so many of them only saw you as something they wanted to get with. Like you were a personal score for them if they managed to get you back in their barracks.
    It unnerved you at times, but unfortunately you had gotten used to it. Though most of the 501st wished you hadn't. They despised the comments that were made. Fives, Echo, and Jessie, especially Rex were enraged by it.
To them you were a friend. A companion. Someone that would listen when they needed a softer touch and you enjoyed it. And that's all you needed. Their thoughts and opinions of you were the ones that truly mattered to you.
    "If Rex was there he would have put that shiny in his place". He grinned, hitting his fist together.
   "Ow". He groaned at his still very much injured arm.
   "How many times have I told you, take it easy". You reminded him, your hands on your hips.
Fives smirked and before he could answer Echo beat him to it, "Have you met him?"
You smiled and nodded. "I have".
    "Hey I'm right here!" He scoffed, playfully. "I take offense to that". You rolled your eyes. Leave it to Five to play up the dramatics. He moved his arm in his ball socket, adjusting it to see how much movement he would have until it fully healed in several weeks time. It was his next comment that threw you off. "Well either way they and everyone else better watch out. No one messes with Rex's girl".
    "I'm not his girl". You were quick to correct him while your cheeks stained a light pink. Betraying you.
    "But you could be". He suggested. You shook your head, trying to ignore him.
   "No I can't".
His gaze snapped to your figure, a brow raised. "Why not? You clearly like him and all of us can painfully see that the captain likes you back". He was quick to respond.
You could not entertain the notion that Rex might potentially like you back. There was just no way. The idea seemed laughable. For starters he was a clone and they took an oath to forgo all romantic relationships. Or at least some of them had. It was quite well known that dozens of them had minor flings here and there. A few even had long standing partners, but still. Rex didn't seem like the type to do so.
And more importantly he was the captain of the 501st.
Out of your rank.
You sighed. "For starters you all are not allowed to have those kind of relationships".
    "Yet we do". He smirked.
You sat your hands on the counter, gripping it firmly, and faced away from him. "And Rex is a captain.". You turned your head to the side. "I'm just a simple medic. He deserves someone more on his level".
     "That's bullshit!" Fives sudden raised voice startled you as did his figure looming over you.
    "It isn't!" You replied just as confidently.
You startled yourself with your tone. You never usually raised your voice at them. Fives was taken a back by it. You quickly looked away from them both. With your next statement you tried to De-escalate the situation.
    "I will not entertain such a fantasy when I know where it leads". Tears pricked at the corners of your eyes. Your quickly wiped them away. "And I will not risk Rex losing his command nor his position. He's worked too hard for it".
Fives saw the hurt flash in your eyes and sighed. "He has, but I know the captain. We both do". He pointed towards Echo, who was giving me a sympathetic glance.
"He's right".
      "He cares about you and I-"
     "Fives, Echo". All three of you turned to see Jessie geared up, standing in the doorway. No doubt prepared up for a new mission. After all they had to ready at a moments notice.
    "General Skywalker needs our assistance on Aurora. Let's move it". You gestured to the friendly face.
    "You better go".
Echo reached for his helmet and walked away from the awkwardness that was forming, but not before flashing you a kind smile. Fives just stayed in place. He was so sure he had crossed a line by pushing you, but you placed a hand on his arm.
     "It's okay".
Whether he believed you or not he couldn't linger to find out. He was needed elsewhere and you were not going to hold him back. You were just a simple medic after all.
~~~
You weren't sure how long you had been working on the pile of paperwork, but it must have been late. You stretched your body out from the hunched over position it had been in. A yawn escaped your lips and you knew that it was time to turn in for the night.
A knocking sound pulled your attention to the doorway. Your eyes slightly widened at the armored figure of your distress standing at the entrance to your work station. What was he doing here? Especially at this late hour.
You opened your mouth to ask him that exact question but halted when you noticed his somber expression. Something was visibly wrong. He pressed the button, closing the door behind him and slowly strode towards you.
   This was not the first time you had seen the captain like this, however something about the look in his eyes this time spoke to you that this was something else. A thought that had been eating away at him and he wanted to get it off his chest. And like always you would be here to listen.
    "Rex?" You managed to get out. Your voice taking on a softer tone.
You usually only used it when he was overwhelmed. Under pressure. Lately it had been coming out more often as the war raged on. Rex needed a gentle reminder that what he was fighting for mattered. Other times he said he enjoyed the sound of your voice. It helped to relax him. If you could give him slight pockets of peace, that focused his mind out there on the front lines then you would continue to do. Even if his off handed compliments sent your heart aflame.
     "Fives told me what happened".
You felt your breathing hitch. You swallowed nervously. He took in your silence and when you didn't answer him, he called your name gently. When he reached your space his breath hitched in his throat at your watery eyes. He saw you quickly rub them away. He reached out his hand with the intention to touch it to yours and grip it between his. He wanted to know the feeling of your hands tangling together with his. He just wanted to touch you in a way that was more then a mere pat or brush.
   But he was holding back, afraid that you wouldn't feel that way about him. Those fears vanished the minute Fives told him how you felt. How you saw yourself in comparison to him. He was over the moon that you cared for him just as much as he did.
But he hated how you viewed yourself. You were a gorgeous to him. Enchanting even. The way your blue eyes glistened when they caught the light or how your smile lite up a room. To say he was under your spell was an understatement. And it took everything in him not to tell you.
    "Why didn't you tell me?"
You knew he was going to ask that. He had all the answers, but he wanted to hear it straight from your lips.
You bit back another wave of tears that were threatening to slip out. "I-I didn't....I didn't think you'd feel the same way". You choked out.
Didn't think he'd feel the same way? He nearly scoffed at your answer. How could he not care for you?
Yes, you were beautiful. There was no denying that. But it was your kind spirit and heart that he came to love. Your endless compassion to the hardships of war. The way you were able to sooth him after a difficult day. He sought you out not just for someone to talk to but because he liked being in your presence. You were calming to him. And he just wanted you to know all of it as badly as he wanted to crash his lips into yours.
    "Don't feel the same way? How could you think that I wouldn't?"
You froze.
Then you snapped your eyes to met his muscular form.  "What?"
He took a step forward, hoping that he hadn't scared you off with his words. "I care about you".
Startled by his words as you were you shook your head.
Tears streamed down your cheeks. "You can't- we can't. Rex you could lose your status as captain!"
Rex moved closer. "I don't care". He stated firm like it was an order.
And he meant it. Knowing that you felt the same about him, he was not going to let you slip through his fingers. Again you shook your head, hugging yourself and avoiding his intense gaze. He should have cared. He should have walked away. You should have walked away.
     "Rex, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I cost you everything-"
Rex grabbed her chin in the crock of his rough gloved finger and angled it up to face him. You met his brown eyes. He dipped his face lower, stopping mere inches from yours. Your noses nearly touching. Your breath caught in your throat from such close proximity. He too was surprised by his sudden closeness to you, but this is what he wanted. And he now knew you wanted it too.
    "I want you". He whispered so delicately, but with such a force you thought your body would melt. Scarlet painted your cheeks. Seeing the reaction you had to his words made him smirk.
You couldn't believe what he just spoke to you. What he confessed to you.
An impossible fantasy that had lived in your head for many cycles was coming true before your very eyes. But you were weary of it. It seemed too good to be true. And you had to have known that. Had to remind yourself of it.
    "Rex..." your voice trailed off just as Rex touched his hand to your cheek, gently caressing it. Warmth seeped into your whole body at the simple touch. You felt you would come undone from that sensation alone.
    "I know what I'm risking and I don't care. I want this". His lips hovered over yours. "I want you"
     In a fraction of a minute Rex's demeanor had changed from one of frustration to one of needing. Begging. He was pleading with you to chose him and you desperately wanted to. There was an ache in you. A desire to be his. You wanted it so badly. To give yourself over to him. But the risk was so great.
Rex closed his other hand around your lower back, bringing you even closer to him. Your body hitting the chest section of his battle stained armor. His warm eyes stared into you. It was like he had you under a trance. The very same that had him when he stared at you. You couldn't look away from them and you didn't want to. Neither could he.
   The logical side of you was screaming at you to push him away. Tell you that you couldn't do this and that the risk was too great.
But the other side of you. The one that wanted him was stronger. More powerful. A shining thought to contrast the doubt within you.
    "But-"
    "Your worth the risk mesh'la. Believe me".
Again your cheeks turned a deep shade of red. You had heard Mandalorian terms of endearment before, but hearing it directed at you was another story. And seeing how it made you blush intensely caused the caption to smile successfully to himself.
You couldn't deny the magnetic pull you felt towards him. Neither could he. Nor could he ignore how inviting your lips looked as his gaze slid to them. You watched him with such anticipation. The feeling of them on yours was a dream you had thought about many times and now it seemed that it was becoming a reality.
He dipped his head lower, enough for your noses to brush and that simple light graze heated your skin. His lips hovered even closer until they didn't.
When his lips brushed over, then collided onto yours, It was like a moth drawn to a flame. And like a moth you were bewitched by his lips. They felt so good, so right, against your own. Rex knew it too. He pushed deeper, wanting to taste them so feverishly on his. Wanted your taste to coat the very surface.
He snaked his hand down to your hip with the other cupped the back of your head, fingers digging into your hair. Fire swarmed to the places his hands held. The one on the back of your head was so comforting, yet forceful. While the other hand pressed at your hip was electrifying. Just like the kiss.
From the second he touched his lips to yours, both of you experienced such a euphoric high. Like a billon stars shining at once. It felt so good. It felt so right.
You didn't have much experience with kissing someone but he took the lead. Leading the two of you on this exhilarating dance of lips and his hands that roamed across your back, over your curves. And you let him. Let him grip your hips. Let him push you up against the wall. Leaving a burning trail of kisses down your neck, and making you feel disoriented.
He had a taste of you finally and did not want to let it go. But he couldn't indulge himself. Not in the way he wanted too. At least not in this moment. He wanted you, but wanted to ease into things with you. Wanted you to feel comfortable. He truly just wanted to give you the world. Because you deserved it. You always did.
You were the first to pull away, a bit dizzy from that whirlwind experience. But you didn't move away from him, no. You placed your hands on his chest piece, both of you catching your breath.
Your mind was still racing from the high.
    "That was-"
You nodded slowly. "Y-yeah".
It was then that you realized that you didn't care about the risk anymore. Yes, it would still sting if Rex had his rank stripped, but you wanted to give this a try. You wanted to be his. And him yours. He wanted that too. Now more then anything.
    "Say you'll be mine". His voice was as graceful as a whisper.
You did not hesitate to answer him, your mind fully made up.
    "Yes".
A/N: Minors get out of here! Just a little sub!Rex one shot. Thanks to the discord once again for inspiring me (you know who you all are). Also inspired by this (NSFW) post on Twitter: https://twitter.com/captainhoezer/status/1559664603805745155?s=20&t=vvGW6m0UPmPNVftPwFBDzw
You ran the silky blue cords through your fingers as Rex removed his armor. You were mildly surprised that your normally highly dominant captain had agreed to indulge your fantasy, but the passionate, darkening look in his eyes said it all: he loved you and would do anything for you if it made you happy.
“You sure about this, baby?” you asked, draping the cords around your shoulders and sitting on the edge of your bed, giving him one last chance to change his mind. “You don’t have to if you don’t want to.”
Rex dropped the last plate of his armor in a neat pile and pulled his blacks top over his head, baring his beautifully bronzed skin and burly upper body. He tossed his top aside and cupped your cheek, pressing a kiss to your hairline. “I’m sure, mesh’la,” he replied. His gorgeous honey eyes never left yours, and he bumped your nose playfully with his.
You nodded, biting your lip as his use of your nickname sparked excitement in your belly. “On your knees then, Captain.”
He smirked, stripping his bottoms and kneeling obediently before you. You lingered for a moment to admire his rippling muscles before taking the cords and artfully winding them around his arms and chest. He let out a small grunt as you bound his hands behind his back and adjusted the quick-release knot, leaving the tail end of the cord in his calloused hand.
“Pull this if you want out. The knot will come undone,” you whispered against his ear. “You have our safe word, too.” You trailed your lips down the tight tendons in his neck and delicately ran your hands over his restrained biceps. His skin was so deliciously warm and soft under the plush of your lips despite his many scars.
Rex shivered as your breath washed over his skin, and he flexed his arms experimentally under your touch. He leaned his head back and turned, nuzzling against you. “I’m yours to command tonight, mesh’la. You’re in charge.”
You grinned, quickly stripping off your top and pressing your bare breasts into his back. The deep groan he let out made warmth pool in your core. You loved all those husky sounds he always made. Your hands found their way around his sturdy waist to smooth over his hard stomach. His abs instinctively flexed under your hands, and he inhaled sharply as you brushed over the thin trail of dark blonde hair leading from his navel to his groin. He bucked his hips a little when your hand got closer to the base of his hardening cock, but you refused to touch him.
“Sit still and be a good boy, or I’ll drag this out longer,” you warned, retracting your hand.
“Yes, ma’am,” he replied, immediately stilling.
Coming around to his front and taking another cord, you wrapped it around his massive thighs, knees, and ankles to force him to stay in a kneeling position. You were sure to tie each finishing knot carefully, just in case he needed to be freed quickly. All the while, you traced the outlines of every muscle you could see lightly with your nails. He eased forward to kiss you, but you quickly turned your head away, letting him briefly catch your jawline instead.
“Ah-ah,” you scolded gently. “Behave yourself, Captain.”
A shudder ran through him and made his cock twitch at your words. Maybe he would like this after all. He was only semi-hard, but the sight of him reacting to your touch made your mouth water.
“Are you ever gonna touch me?” he asked curiously, raising his brows and giving you his best doe-eyes—fuck, you loved those beautiful eyes. He began tensing up in his bindings, his growing need quickly frustrating him.
“In due time, my love.” You checked the knots around his legs once more and stood before him, taking his chin in your hand. “Be patient.”
You stepped back and admired your handiwork. The lead captain of the 501st was entirely at your mercy, shifting slightly against the cords you had wound around his body. “You look good like this—all tied up and being such a good boy for me,” you praised, pulling your hair back and tying it up out of the way, never breaking eye contact with him. That alone was usually enough to excite him, and it had the desired effect. You ran your hands down over your breasts and your torso, grasping at your body to give him a little show.
“I want to see all of you, beautiful girl,” he said, clenching his teeth and referring to your still-covered lower half.
“Not until you ask nicely,” you said, wiggling your eyebrows at him and pressing your breasts together. You pinched your hardened nipples and whimpered quietly, licking your lips as you watched his thick cock grow harder, the head and veins flushed and swollen.
He let out a huff that came out more as a laugh, but he complied. “Can I see all of you, please?”
With a genial smile, you turned around slowly and crawled up onto your bed, bending over as you pulled your bottoms down over your ass. You heard him exhale slowly through his pursed lips behind you, clearly enjoying the view.
“You’re soaked, baby,” he sighed. He could see the darkened patch of wetness on your lacy panties—his favorite pair that you owned—wanting nothing more than to peel them off you with his teeth. “Fuck, you look so perfect. My perfect girl. Will you take those off?”
You ignored the request and turned back to face him, sitting on the edge of your bed. He had to earn it. Spreading your legs wide, you ran your fingers through your glistening folds and over your clit beneath your dark blue panties. You moaned as you watched his enraptured expression, unable to look away from you as you played with yourself.
“Oh, baby, please, don’t stop,” he whispered, begging you to continue.
You plunged a finger inside yourself and let out a small pleasured cry, exposing your neck. Every muscle in Rex’s body pushed against the cords as he lurched forward in vain, swearing under his breath, and his cock twitched as he flexed his core. A thin sheen of sweat broke out across his skin as his desperation began to show. He was close enough that all he had to do was lean forward a little further and he could have had your clit between his lips, but he knew better. He was behaving so well.
“Please, take those off, my love. Please, let me see you,” he groaned lustfully.
The weight of his gaze might as well have been holding you down, but you reached down and peeled your underwear off, baring your most intimate parts to his gaze. He licked his lips as his eyes flicked from your face to your dripping cunt, watching your reactions to your own stimulation.
A hint of embarrassment flushed your cheeks under his gaze, but it only spurred you on. You could feel yourself getting closer just from the intensity in his eyes. It both begged and ordered you to keep going, to keep making the beautiful sounds escaping your throat as you tilted your head back. You hit a particularly sensitive spot inside yourself and your other hand flew to your clit, rubbing quick circles around it.
Rex was breathing heavily now. He involuntarily shifted his hips forward as you added a second finger and moaned out his name. “That feels good doesn’t it, baby?” he murmured, smiling wryly as you nodded frantically. “I bet it does… I fucking bet it does.”
His cock was so hard it was painful, and he throbbed as he watched you pleasure yourself, thinking he had never seen a sight so gorgeous. He was so vexed that he was not allowed to touch you that his mind was screaming at him to free himself, but he also wanted to see how far he was willing to go.
“You wanna see me cum, Rex?” you asked, panting from your exertion. “I’m so close. If you’re good, I’ll let you taste me.”
“Make yourself cum, mesh’la,” he growled, “just like this. Force… Please, don’t stop. You’re so fucking hot.”
You could not have denied him even if you tried. A few more swipes of your clit and curling your fingers inside yourself and you were gone. You cried out as you arched your back up and bucked your hips into your hands, and you caught a glimpse of Rex’s face, making your core pulse even harder. He was staring at you slack-jawed and his bound shoulders hunched forward, pulling hard against the blue ropes. His cock was leaking precum now, too, unable to contain himself as you writhed under your own touch.
“You liked that, didn’t you, Captain?” you asked innocently as you came down from your high, continuing to finger fuck yourself slowly. It had been a small orgasm, but the squelching sound of your fingers through your soaked cunt was driving him mad.
“Let me taste you, my love,” he whined. “Please, let me taste you.”
“So needy,” you giggled as you sat up and dragged your fingers out of yourself. Holding your hand out to him, his tongue darted out and captured your fingers, sucking them deep into his mouth. You could not help but smile at the way he groaned as he lapped you up, cleaning you completely.
“You taste so good… so sweet… so fucking perfect.” He rocked back on his haunches, eyes never leaving your face.
“Such an obedient soldier,” you praised, running a knuckle down his cheek. “What do you want, Rex? You’re being so good for me.”
“Wanna make you cum on my tongue. Wanna hear you scream my name… Please, let me make you scream.”
You wrapped your hand around the back of his head, your hand running through his soft, buzzed blonde hair, and pulled him toward you. He needed no further incentive as he licked a long, languid stripe up through your aching cunt. You gasped and drew your legs up to rest your heels on your bed, spreading yourself open for him. The heat of his tongue fueled the tingling anticipation racing through you, making you throw your head back.
“Force, Rex…” you moaned. “Need your tongue in me… feels so good.”
His tongue immediately laved through your folds, exploring each one so thoroughly that it made your head swim. When he obediently pressed his tongue inside you, you curled your nails on his scalp. He leaned into your touch and bumped your clit with his nose, watching you carefully as your expression contorted in ecstasy.
You held him to your center as his lips encircled your clit, sucking and flicking you gently. Normally, he would have used his thick, long fingers to help bring you to your breaking point, but tonight was as much a test of his skills as of his willpower. Those golden-brown eyes peered up at you from beneath his heavy brows, and you felt yourself coming apart again.
“That’s it, Captain, right there,” you all but squeaked. “Yes… yes… y-yes… Rex, fuck! F—Ah! R-Rex!”
He latched onto your clit and moaned into you—the vibrations from his mouth pushing you over the edge again. The blissful, white-hot feeling crashed over you stronger this time. Your legs trembled and your chest heaved as he drank up your release like a man dying of thirst, collecting every drop on that skilled tongue and savoring it.
With shaky legs and still floating in the haze of your second orgasm, you shifted down to the floor and took his aching cock in your hand, pumping him slowly. His eyes drifted shut, and he almost choked as you stroked him.
“You deserve a reward for that,” you purred against his neck, maneuvering him back a bit to allow yourself more room to work. You methodically kissed down his chest and abdomen, sucking little marks into his tanned skin, making his hips twitch each time you did. He loved it when you left marks on his skin. He always wore them beneath his blacks like badges of honor, or like little reminders of how much he belonged to you as much as you belonged to him.
You smiled up at him briefly before finally wrapping your lips around the head of his cock, licking at the slit at his tip and tasting the precum still leaking from him. The strangled noise of both pain and pleasure he let out as you sucked on him made you want to take him further into your mouth. A single tear slipped from your eye as you relaxed your throat and took him as deeply as you could to coat him in your saliva. As you pulled off of him with a pop, you continued to grasp and twist your fist around his shaft, pressing your tongue to the sensitive vein running along the underside of him.
“You like my mouth on you, Captain?” you asked, enjoying the mischief glinting in his eyes. You did not wait for an answer before you drew him in deep again, hollowing your cheeks and swallowing around him. Fuck, he tasted so good—salty, but also sweet and slightly musky, like the delectable source of the essence of the way his skin always smelled.
Rex felt the vicious coiling tension building within himself as you worked his cock with your velvety mouth and hands. He had to bite his full bottom lip to keep from crying out, but he could not help the little grunts that escaped him as you bobbed up and down on him. You looked so perfect nestled between his bound thighs, massaging him with your tongue like your mouth was made for him alone. He felt himself rocket toward his climax as you took his balls in one hand and fondled them gently. “Agh… shit, mesh’la… if-if you keep doing t-that…”
You paused, releasing him from your mouth. The pained strain in his voice made you worry he had suddenly changed his mind. “Do you need me to stop?” you asked worriedly.
Rex squeezed his eyes shut but shook his head. Every muscle in his legs was flexing so hard that the smooth cords were digging into his skin and leaving reddening lines. “Just… just need a second…” he panted.
“How do you want me to make you cum, Captain?” you asked, waiting patiently for a response. You could see the conflict in his eyes as they fluttered open. You knew he loved cumming inside you, whether it be in your cunt or down your throat. Hell, you had even let him cum in your ass once. You wanted him to enjoy this as much as you were, so you were going to let him choose.
As he blinked at you, it looked like he was searching for the words you wanted to hear, but he was currently too overstimulated to find them. You were going to have to help him along.
“Ask me for whatever you want, baby,” you cooed, kissing your way back up his body. “Whatever you want. You’ve been so good.”
He rested his sweaty forehead against yours for a moment, swallowing and catching his breath. “Please… fuck yourself onto me,” he whispered.
You captured his perfect lips with yours, tasting yourself on his tongue as you grasped his tense shoulders and shifted to sit in his lap. His body spasmed under yours, struggling against the ropes as he wanted to pound into you. Part of you was so proud of him for his self-restraint. He could have freed himself at any point, but he was choosing not to.
You canted your hips and sank onto him in one fluid motion, making him moan into your mouth. The exquisite, frictionless stretch of your walls strangled his cock as you adjusted to his size, and you slowly started riding him.
Rex broke the kiss and attacked your neck and collar as you ground your hips down on him, biting and sucking your tender skin. Although tonight was about him following orders, you knew he would have eventually found his way around them. He knew you could not resist being kissed and caressed when he was buried so deep within you.
“Touch me, Rex,” you gasped as he licked at the little marks now littering your skin. He stopped to give you a questioning look as if still asking for your permission. Instead of giving him a verbal answer, you reached behind him and tugged the end of the rope still grasped in his hand. The silky cords immediately loosened and his freed hands flew to the curve of your ass, gripping your cheeks and helping you bounce on his cock.
“Fuck yes, my perfect girl. Let me give you my cock. Let me split you open,” he growled, pressing you down harder into his lap. You keened as he hit a spot so deep it nearly blinded you, holding you there as he throbbed. He took one of your hardened nipples into his mouth and sucked, cupping your other breast diligently.
You reached down and pulled at the other cords still binding his legs. They also came loose, allowing him to thrust into you properly. Now free from his bindings, his desperation took over. He managed to hike you into his arms and toss you back onto your bed, never slipping out of you. As he settled on top of you, his thrusts became relentless—his hips slamming into yours so hard that he had to hold you down by your waist to keep you from flying off the other edge of your bed.
“Feel so hot and wet around me. Never wanna leave you, ner cyar’ika. Need this perfect pussy to squeeze and suck the cum out of me. Wanna fill you to the fucking brim,” he rambled. “Can I do that, my love?”
“Stars, yes, Rex!” you cried, pleasured tears streaming down your cheeks. “Y-you fuck me so good. Make me cum for you again.”
He leaned over you, bracing himself next to your head. One hand still was gripping your hip hard enough to leave a bruise, and the other hand was twisting in your sheets as he lowered himself to your ear. “As you wish,” came his gravelly moan.
You cried out again as the sinful timbre of his voice vibrated through to your very core, and you locked your ankles behind his back as his thrusts became even more fervent. He fucked into you so roughly and precisely, dragging his cock through your soaked cunt so perfectly that you were beginning to see stars.
A deep growl rumbled from his chest as you raked your nails across his back, clinging to him as though your life depended on it. He was close, you could feel it. All the pent-up energy he had so dutifully contained was unleashed. You blindly wondered if he had ever fucked you this hard before. You craved this unbridled passion from him, and even though you had already cum twice, your thoughts were overtaken by the familiar hot coil growing tighter within you.
“You take my cock so well, my beautiful girl. Look what you do to me, making me need you. Can I… will you let me cum for you… Please?”
Your eyes rolled back as he was still asking for your permission. Even as he fucked you to within an inch of your sanity, he was still willing to play the role for you. “Yes, Rex… cum with me.”
He let go of your waist to rub circles around your clit and rolled his hips into yours, rutting his tip up against that hypersensitive spot deep within your clenching walls. He pressed you down with nearly his full weight, caging you in as your back arched and your cunt sucked him in deep, spasming, and fluttering around him. You cried out his name so loud you were sure the whole planet had heard you. He only lasted three more thrusts before he was erupting into you with a deep groan, painting your insides with thick white ribbons of his release.
You were both too exhausted to move very far, and you knew you had to clean up eventually, but he just felt so very good on top of you. He was still nestled between your thighs, and his head rested heavily on your chest. You reached out to run a finger along the reddened lines on his arms where the ropes had been, and he looked up at you with those big, golden doe-eyes.
“We need to do that again,” he whispered against your skin, pressing a kiss to one of your breasts and grinning.
You giggled breathlessly. “You really liked it that much?” you asked, surprised that he had taken the experience so well.
He rolled onto his side, slipping out of you carefully, and tucked you against his chest. You snuggled into the warmth of his overheated body, humming contentedly. He stroked his thumb gently down your cheek and settled his calloused hand against your neck, slotting his lips into yours. All of his residual passion gave way to a sweet, loving tenderness. Affectionately pressing his head to yours, he murmured, “I’ll take orders from you anytime you want.”
