No context or query is given to frame what the cards say as the posts are reading samples and not personal instruction. The result is sometimes humorous, sometimes serious, and usually surprising. If you feel like it, could you elaborate on how learning playing cards as playing cards made you a better tarot reader?

The system I use for playing cards uses a few specific techniques I hadn't seen for tarot before.

This includes things like using the numbers on the card to gauge intensity (a 10 representing great gains/growth, while a 3 represents small or minor growth, for example). Or that the color of a card (red/black) determines whether it is a good or bad outcome. For example, if you draw three red cards that's a great outcome, but if you draw two red cards and one black card, that's a good start but things go bad at the end.

Translating these techniques over to tarot, you can get very in-depth readings that have nothing to do with the picture of the card. If you draw a three, a five, and a nine, we would say that the situation starts out mildly but grows in intensity as we reach the end.

And by assigning portents to the elemental suits, we can read the suits of the cards to quickly predict outcomes.

I started making posts about it but it's such a clunky concept to explain that it's probably better suited for a book.

But the real assistance for me is that it makes it a lot harder to get "lost" inside of tarot spreads. If you consider that the numbers and elements of the cards provide a framework for energies, intensities, and outcomes, the pictures/book meanings only need to come in at the end to explain nuance and details. This makes it a lot easier to determine which meanings are applicable, because the numbers/elements have already given huge context to what is going on.

Hi there! I’m learning cartomancy and I have a question: is it possible to get reversed cards like with tarot cards? The deck I’m using has pictures on them (of Alphonse Mucha’s work; I love the art nouveau movement ☺️) and I drew an upside down queen of hearts.

Hey~ I’m sure there probably is a method out there for reversed cards in cartomancy but I don’t know anyone who personally uses it. My deck, and a lot of others are double sided, making it very difficult to use a reversed method. Every reader is different and if you feel like reversed cards are like that for a reason, then definitely go for it. Judging by the card you drew, I’d assume it would represent something like: repressed emotions, infidelity, being caught up in oneself, etc. I looked into it for you and found this link, hopefully it helps!

Okay, kid. I’m going to give you some advice with this one, if that’s cool. I’ve been in similar situations in my life and, honestly, most often you’re going to fuck something up whether you mean to or not. I think that you should talk to D, but maybe not come on so strong. (no that coming on strong is bad, just, he might jump back from it.) Once, not too long ago, when I was still in highschool, I was really into this one guy and I would do readings on almost everything I did about him. It wasn’t good. It got to a point that I was more upset and frantic over the whole situation and it was eating me from the inside out, so, I basically walked up to this guy, (VERY southern and christian white male, ironically), and told him that I had really liked him for a while and told him about some of the readings and all that shit.Little me came in head first into that shit and ended up frightening my crush and breaking apart some good friendships. It was rough, I shit you not. I’, going to tell you this bluntly, you most likely will not get the response that you hope for with this fellow, but trying is good. I do think things with you and D with work out if you play your cards right. I don’t want you to think you’re doing anything wrong or you’re going to fuck everything up, ‘cause you’re not. You’ll be okay, dude. I can’t promise anything, but I’ve got a feeling that you’ll get something positive out of this.
