summary: you put a blanket over your sleeping girlfriend, who wakes up and teases you about acting like you're married...

catherine and you had a date night planned, but after training all day, your girlfriend fell asleep before you could even arrive at her place. when you did, you found her asleep at her desk, her head resting on her paperwork. 

you just smiled softly, watching your girlfriend sleep soundly. she must've been so exhausted to fall asleep in a place like this, so you decided you wouldn't try to wake her. you quietly sneaked past her, grabbing the blanket from her bed and putting it over her. 

you were about to quietly leave her room again, when you heard her tired voice behind you. 

"you've put a blanket over me? what are we, an old married couple~?"

you chuckled softly and turned around, seeing catherine struggling to keep her eyes open as she looked up at you. 

"maybe one day~"

you teased back and pressed a kiss onto her head. 

"mmh, that does sound nice…"

catherine mumbled, before her eyes slowly fell shut again and she drifted asleep once more.

Re about Cat :

In Nopes she complains because her dad asks her to lend CoS troops, instead of asking Dimitri or Rhea herself...

But unless Count Charon is as dumb as Leopold, he knows pretty well Cat isn't the one who can lend him Church soldiers.

Of course Fodlan dgaf about non students characters, especially if they are affiliated to the Church, but I wondered, maybe Count Charon didn't want to ask Rhea herself to lend him some troops because he has a strange relationship with her -

Rhea is, after all, the one who welcomed his daughter when she was hunted by the Kingdom and the reason she's alive, Dad!Charon, whatever was his position during the "Cassandra hunt" wasn't the one who protected his daughter, Rhea was.

Maybe he feels already to indebted to her to even ask her, in person, for more soldiers?

As for Dimitri...

I always found it disappointing how both game never explored more Cat's backstory, ffs if Faerghus was "feudal uwu", the Crown (even if it was during Rufus' regency) ordered Cat's death, she was branded a traitor and someone who commited regicide ffs.

What was happening with House Charon at that time, were they happily going to give their daughter to the crown, when Catherine was the presumptive major crested heir, to have her executed? When the entire Kingdom branded her a traitor and had her name besmirched, was House Charon totes okay with, you know, the accusations that their precious heir participated in the plot to kill Lambert?

Lonato throws a fit because Christophe was executed by the Church, but Lonato is only Rowe's bannerman - Charon is one of the major Houses in the Kingdom, wouldn't they have thrown a "larger" fit if the crown wanted to execute their heir??

Or maybe that could fell in the larger "the Kingdom was in chaos" thing - House Charon might have been "this" close to rebel against the Crown ?

In a way, it might explain why Garreg Mach wasn't visited by the Kingdom's forces asking Rhea to hand Cassandra over if the crown's forces had to cross Charon territory to reach Garreg Mach...

So in with this BG, it would make perfect sense why Count Charon wouldn't ask Dimitri for more soldiers (granted we're talking about Church soldiers?) - Charon is still a loyal bannerman who fights for Faerghus, but his trust in the crown would have been severed, and it's up to Dimitri to rebuild that bond.

On Rhea's birthday, Catherine pulls out all the stops to make sure she feels loved.

Five of Cups & FE3H

The Five of Cups showcases the mess that is left over after a huge upheaval. As usual, the Five card in the minor arcana shows us the worst-case scenario of the suit, and for Cups, it’s the loss of friendships and emotional well-being. The Five of Cups can reference intergenerational trauma, or consequences that spill beyond what one thought they could affect. However, a glimmer of hope prevails, as two cups remain unspilled, reminding us that not all is lost even when it appears that way. 

For me, Seteth’s loss of Flayn and his wife encapsulates the mood of this card. Due to his own carelessness, he lost the two people he cared about the most, and likely watched their blood spill. This event had a great impact on him, as he left Rhea to tend to the continent by herself and retreated to watch over Flayn. 

However, not all is lost, and he does find a way back to Garreg Mach to both support Rhea and to give Flayn a second chance at life, giving him an opportunity to be thankful for the cups that remain in his life.

In retrospect, I think Catherine might also be a good fit for this card, as she lost Christophe and her entire Kingdom connections. So do with that knowledge what you will.

Pumpkin carving with the Church of Seiros

Last year, I posted some pumpkin carving with the Blue Lions head canons for Halloween, so let’s do the church characters this time. Note that I already included Gilbert with the Lions, so he’s not in this one.

Alois: Goes about this with great enthusiasm. His carvings are a bit crooked and not all that scary, but somehow still a hit with the kids.

Catherine: Knows of similar traditions from Charon territory and starts out very enthusiastic, but quickly grows agitated when it turns out using a knife for carving pumpkins requires more finesse than using one for fighting. On the bright side, lugging heavy gourds around was a good strength workout.

Cyril: Initially refuses to partake because he is too busy, until Rhea tells him to abandon his tasks for the rest of the day and just enjoy the carving. He is INSANELY good at it, having spent much of his time at House Goneril chopping and peeling vegetables. He makes a bunch of scary wyvern face pumpkins.

Flayn: Easily the most excited person in the room about this entire project, but can’t finish a single pumpkin without Seteth trying to “assist” and “prevent her from cutting herself”… which eventually leads to Flayn cutting herself. After that, she focuses on preparing other decorations and encouraging the rest of the group.

Hanneman: Absolutely not one for the carving, but has an opinion on everybody else’s work (and most of the time, he’s at least technically right). Wants to commission Shamir to put at least one crest symbol on a pumpkin, but by the time he decides which one he wants, all the pumpkins have been carved.

Manuela: Is also not one for the carving, until Catherine jokingly suggests she should just think of the gourd as a suitor that spurned her. The ensuing rage leads to some genuinely scary looking creations.

Seteth: Doesn’t want to carve one himself, but insists on mentoring Flayn until she ends up cutting herself. When she demands that he finish her pumpkin for her then, Seteth accepts and actually gets the task done somewhat competently. He is the one who insisted that the carving be done at the very last minute, so the next morning the pumpkins can still be turned into soup, rather than being thrown onto the compost pile.

Shamir: Efficiency made flesh. She carves more pumpkins than anybody else, mostly depicting spiders and their webs, and pulls off tricks with a knife that make Gilbert and Cyril look on in awe. She considers it good dexterity training.

Bonus: Rhea: Even though this event was her idea, it takes the combined encouragement of the Flayn, Manuela and Byleth to make her partake. She turns out to be quite good with a knife and somewhat unpredictable with her carvings—half of them err on the site of cuteness, the other half are downright terrifying. The kids love them all equally and that’s good enough for her. Though she won’t admit it to anyone but Byleth and Flayn, joining in on such a mundane, quaint little tradition was one of the most fun things she did all year.
