Princess Kate’s new ‘ballbuster’ private secretary quit before she even started work
March 26, 2023
By Kaiser Kate Middleton, Royals
Last December, we learned that the Princess of Wales’s private secretary had “quit” months beforehand. That private secretary was Hannah Cockburn-Logie, and she was with Kate starting in May 2020. She oversaw a lot of Kate’s Early Years busy-work. Kate then went without a private secretary for months, because (big surprise) she does f–k all and her staffers get unbelievably bored. Then, in February, there was suddenly a big push – Kate hired someone named Alison Corfield, who was then described as “loud” and a “ballbuster.” Corfield never started work in Kensington Palace. She opted to keep her job with Jamie Oliver. Ouch. Interestingly enough, the Telegraph got the exclusive on this, only they changed the headline after (presumably) a bitching out from Kensington Palace. The headline went from “Princess of Wales’s new private secretary rejects job, opting to stay with Jamie Oliver” to “Princess of Wales’s new private secretary rejects job to ‘stay under the radar’.” Guess Kate didn’t want to sound like she came up short compared to Jamie Oliver? Or maybe Kate doesn’t want to sound like she also can’t keep staff longer than a minute.
The “straight talking” PR guru hired as the Princess of Wales’s new private secretary has opted to stay with chef Jamie Oliver rather than take up the role, The Telegraph can reveal.
Alison Corfield, 51, is understood to have been uncomfortable with the prospect oqqf having such a high-profile position and decided instead to remain under the radar.
The mother of three, a branding and marketing expert, has worked with Oliver for eight years. A source said: “She loves the work and is an integral member of the campaigning team. She decided she just wanted to keep her head down and get on with the job she knows so well in the background. She didn’t want the publicity that comes with working at that level for such a well-known institution.”
The decision means that Kensington Palace aides have had to return to the drawing board in their search for the ideal candidate who will play a large part in shaping the Princess’s role.
[From The Telegraph]
The bar is in hell: “Kensington Palace aides have had to return to the drawing board in their search for the ideal candidate who will play a large part in shaping the Princess’s role.” She’s 41 years old and she’s been married to William for almost twelve years. Kate shouldn’t need a staffer to “play a large part” in SHAPING her role. It should have already been “shaped” years ago. We heard, endlessly, for years and years that Kate was preparing to be Princess of Wales and queen consort, that she was so keen to finally do and be something and… nothing ever came of it. She’s Princess of Wales and she’s still dependent on hiring some private secretary who will – through sheer force of will? – suddenly make all of the lazy, incompetent pieces fit together.
Speaking of, Kensington Palace’s editing elves couldn’t make Kate sound like an educated, competent woman in her 40s discussing her life’s work. This is Kate speaking to Iceland Foods’ Richard Walker about “the science” behind Early Years. Walker even says, directly, that people are really struggling financially and Kate just breezes past that, like it would never f–king occur to her to use her position and use this time and effort to… help out struggling families. It’s insane. I have to ask again, and I know I’m a broken record about this, but Jesus H., you guys: how is she not embarrassed? Are palace staffers embarrassed about this?? I guess they are, because Alison Corfield took one look at this sh-tshow and noped out of there in a hurry.

I got bored and decided to take a walk down memory lane. This blog post is from January of 2011. The original article which is being referenced has apparently been scrubbed but it came from People Magazine. It seems like a lot of older coverage of the Walses is gone now.
It’s interesting to see how little the talking points about Kate’s royal work have changed. This quote from a palace source: “Catherine wants time, once she is a member of the Royal Family, to come to a decision about what she wants to do. She wants to decide what her own interests are and develop those over time.” I feel like we’ve seen some version of this quote rephrased and reissued at least biannually for the last 12 years. And the quotes from the palace about the Early Years initiative almost feel like a bookend to this one.
This talking point made sense in 2011, and you can tell based on the comment section that most people were giving her the benefit of the doubt. However, the tone of the blog post is too harsh imo and it veers into sexist territory a bit. Especially because this was so early on, we didn’t have 10 years of keen baiting from Kensington Palace to color our opinions.  I think it was a bit much for the author to write that Kate won’t have anything to do if she doesn’t get knocked up right away. Still it’s interesting to reflect on early coverage of Kate’s royal work now that she’s rolling out a new initiative.

kaiser from celebitchy dot com has posted misogynist trash about the Cambridge family for years, particularly Kate. Should we start with mocking her privacy lawsuit in 2012? Or saying her HG pregnancies were laziness?
And if you don't: please remember your are writing about a families with small children, one of which are private citizens, not royals. If you so protective of the Sussexes, stop writing BS about the Cambs. GOT IT?
Kaiser, how do you know more about the royals from rural VA than a London-based journalist.
oh and finally: Valentine Low (if anyone, over all other reporters) has the receipts tyvm. he reported that bullying story and checked with the sussexes' lawyers multiple times before publication - no lawsuits. keep in mind the times is the uk's wsj or wapo. so yeah. maybe pay $$$ for that subscription now.

I like it when the media media-s
In my old line of work, it’s a two-way swinging door.  We watched the tone and we followed it until it was time to swing the door back.
1) Celebitchy is the first gossip outlet to have the balls to say it: Gigi Paris is building a name for herself on the back of Glen Powell (and Sweeney). I would have taken it further and done a “who is Gigi Paris” smiley hit piece but I was a lot meaner back then. I've mellowed but not enough to not call shenanigans.
2) Another global hollywooding blog noted, “While the reason for Glen and Gigi’s alleged split remains unclear, it appears the actor, 34, and model, 30, went their separate ways a few months ago after a four year relationship.” So somebody finally noticed everything ended after Thanksgiving and that the reconciliation happened just before the Golden Globes and lasted for just under a month, give or take.
3) I wonder if anyone noticed and/or will start talking about the soft launch-style photos Paris had in her insta stories while in NYC and Miami last month of her with a man’s hand on a martini and the like while Powell was off working in Australia. Just saying.
4) I don’t doubt we’ll see Sweeney and her 39YO fiancee (who she has been with since she was 20 and her was 35) all over the Met Gala carpet flashing that ring. It is the politically astute move to hype up that she is taken. Do I buy that she is still with him? Ask me again after next Saturday and keep your eyes peeled around the last week of May.
5) Powell’s refusal to even get into the trenches on this is probably one of the smartest things I’ve seen an up-and-comer do in many years. He is in a no-win ditch here without a ladder to get out of it - he can’t risk setting Paris off again by clapping back but he also couldn’t avoid Sweeney because CinemaCon. So his choice to go to Oklahoma to work on his next project, and for him AND HIS FAMILY to keep following the ex-GF for the moment is the right course of action. It gives my successors absolutely sweet FA to run with and it neutralizes Paris because after that IG video, she basically wrote herself out of the story and anything further comes across as (more) petty ax-grinding.
Final comment: when Deux Moi and others start the slow backpedal and move to claiming “showmance” or “FWB”, you know this is the start of a climb-down. Gigi should be V E R Y careful with what she posts on the IG going forward. The media does not like to be played like that by anyone below a D on the list.

Did people always pick apart the wales marriage or did it happen when Meghan and harry got together and started being clingy? I remember seeing something on twitter from their documentary that said 70 percent of the hate tweets were from 83 accounts and I feel like someone needs to do that when it comes to the waleses because how does a tweet taken out of context get thousands of likes automatically?🙄
I really don't know, you'd have to find someone who's been a part of the fandom longer than I have. I ended up here accidentally when I went hunting to find out if I was the only one who had a bad feeling about Meg lol
oho, buckle up ladies. They've been picking apart the Wales marriage since 1pm on April 30, 2011. From 2011 - 2015ish, it was done on certain corners of the internet, like Kaiser's section of Celebitchy, and most people didn't pay any attention to it because it was such a tinhatty conversation.
The game changed in 2016ish, after Charlotte was born.
First, Charles's and Andrew's marriages imploded after the births of their second child with the blame falling on the women. These people basically said that why should Kate be any different and started going after her. There's a period of time after Charlotte was born, in late 2015 or early 2016, when Kate suddenly dropped a ton of weight, which these people interpreted to mean as there were problems in the Cambridge marriage that caused enormous stress for Kate and speculated that she stopped eating/kept working out. This chunk of time also overlaps with a period of time where Kate had some engagements with Ben Ainslie in which they were flirty and friendly with each other.
These bloggers/this section of the internet decided that William had cheated on Kate 2015/2016ish, Kate's overnight weight loss was due to stress from his cheating, and she retaliated by having a brief fling with Ben Ainslie. Elizabeth caught wind of this and forced the Cambridges into marital counseling because the monarchy couldn't survive another divorce. (One of these bloggers who believed and perpetuated this is now rather quite popular and is now considered one of the experts here on royal tumblr. I disagree with her take on this and stopped following her because of it.)
This section of the internet also believes that Kate would only forgive William for his cheating if he gave her another baby, which is how Louis came to be. It's very possible that this is the true origin story of the Rose Rumor since we know that Meghan was paying attention to the royal blogs when she was dating Harry.
Second, the other gamechanger in 2016 was, of course as we know, Meghan. Her fans brought a ton of toxicity to the royal fandom that was kind of a "safer in numbers" mentality where people like Kaiser who openly hated Kate and these other blogs who openly picked on the Cambridge marriage (like the bloggers who speculated about the 2015/2016 years) were enabled to speak out more, and more loudly, about the problems they perceived in the then-Cambridge marriage and Kate as a person.
So the "Kate haters" were now speaking as a louder group, which caused the "Kate defenders" to start speaking up and everything kept escalating to where it soon broke out into a fandom war with everyone choosing sides:
Anti-Kate because they wanted to marry William.
Anti-Meghan because they wanted to marry Harry.
Neutral but they're openly misogynistic and sexist about hating Kate.
Neutral but they really hate Meghan because they're closet racists.
Harry stans
Meghan stans (Sussex Squad)
Pro-William/Cambridge because he's the future king.
Anti-Harkles because they're not William and Kate.
Anti-Cambridges because they're not sharing with Meghan and Harry.
Diana stans
Kate stans (who I think are now called Wales Wailers)
The actual neutral middle who's just here for jewels and clothes.
Formerly "actual neutral middle" blogs who had hinky feelings about Meghan.
People with no interest in the BRF
People with no interest in the Cambridges or Sussexes
To answer anon's question about how a tweet could be wildly taken out of context for thousands of likes -- it's because of the fandom war and all these different sides.
IMO, the fandom war was never really resolved. Everyone mostly keeps to their "side" of royal tumblr now. Every once in a while a couple of them clash but it ends quickly and then everyone goes back to their corners. I think the pandemic, the lockdowns, and the lack of royal content because of lockdowns caused a lot of bloggers to chill out on Wales v Harkles - they either left royal-watching all together or found a new "thing" to focus on instead. (I have a theory about this but it's controversial.)
anon thank you so much for writing this all out! you're a real gem, and please give us your theory!!! i'd love to hear it
(i read it while i was eating dinner which is why i'm posting it so quick after the last ask, i already know what they said lol)

The investigation into Duchess Meghan ‘looks like a PR exercise to muddy the waters’
June 22, 2022
By Kaiser
The Sunday Times was the first outlet to report on Buckingham Palace “burying” their report on the bullying claims against the Duchess of Sussex. Something curious happened following the Times story though – very little follow-up reporting. Considering the wall-to-wall reporting on “Meghan is a bully, we promise” last year, and considering the monthly follow-ups repeating all of those anonymous claims, you would think that the Daily Mail, the Sun and the Mirror would all have extensive follow-up reporting on the Sunday Times story, right? You would think that royal reporters would call up their Kensington Palace contacts and get new statements about how the poor bullying victims feel about BP refusing to publicly call out their “bully.” That hasn’t happened. Curious. Newsweek did a follow-up story though. Newsweek spoke to Graham Smith, who is the head of Republic (the British anti-monarchy group).
The palace has not commented on the story but the suggestion led to fans of the duchess circulating the theory it was keqpt quiet because it exonerated Meghan. Another possibility is that the palace wanted to avoid re-igniting trans-Atlantic warfare with the Sussexes.
Graham Smith, chief executive of the anti-Monarchy campaign group Republic, told Newsweek there should be transparency.
“There’s an issue here which is whether the outcome may have been that it was all stirred up to distract from the Oprah interview, which was speculated at the time, so some openness would be helpful,” he said. “Also, have they bothered to look into the accusations of racism that came out of the Oprah interview? I think the answer is no. The whole thing looks like a PR exercise to muddy the waters and put them in the clear over the allegations that Meghan set out.”
[From Newsweek]
That’s a good point and I wish I had made it – considering the splashy announcement about the “bullying investigation” made just before the Oprah interview aired, surely the palace would also want to clarify some sh-t about Meghan’s accusations of racism? I guess not. Those accusations of racism were ignored, just as Meghan was ignored when she repeatedly sought help from the institution (the same institution which was actively trying to drive her to suicide).
Not to mention, the many incidents and stories about other royals and their attitudes towards staff. Prince Andrew treating Buckingham Palace household staffers like garbage, Prince William screaming at staffers, Prince Charles’s senior staff being racially abusive, etc. No splashy HR investigations for any of that.

Sorry but who is The Mighty Fall about…
I think The Mighty Fall is about Ashlee, I have accidentally stumbled into a large volume of Insane Wentzlee Marriage Lore during writing my unhinged bandom manifestos
I thought it was initially about Ryan because it says the "12 steps in Malibu" thing and TYV were founded in Topanga which is near Malibu and Ryan did Alcoholic’s Anonymous, however I thoroughly investigated this and became convinced it was 100% about Ashlee.
“Bel Air” is in LA and “Bel Air baby” basically means rich girl probably, Ashlee moved to LA when she was 15 and was a child star so obviously there’s money happening there.
It was rumored Ashlee was an alcoholic hence the “12 steps in Malibu” thing. Center passages Malibu is a famous luxury rehab center.
Ashlee was supposedly caught on camera drunk in inappropriate situations, including yelling at someone in a McDonald’s in Canada or something, and supposedly according to gossip outlets (Huffpost, celebitchy, daily star, etc), she and Pete were fighting over this in court because of the custody thing.
At one point she allegedly started an altercation with Michelle Trachtenberg over Pete and was like drunk and yelling and gave him a lap dance or something, and it got reported by gossip outlets they got in a fight outside of Angels and Kings at some birthday thing or something.
One article speculating on Ashlee’s excessive drinking was by “MTV News Staff.” Hmmmm.
ANYWAY, the “gutter” thing I think is interesting because it’s pretty widely speculated their relationship was a little questionable as she gave birth like 7 months after they got married and her dad was a pastor, and had not been exclusive for very long before that— from what I can gather in very blunt, rude, and brief terms, it seems like Pete was a casual fan that got famous and got her pregnant.
The “coming clean” thing, Pete is notoriously possessive, delusional and paranoid so it doesn’t matter if she cheated or didn’t or whatever, but there were incredibly vague rumors she cheated. And also that he cheated on her. Someone who was NOT “MTV News Staff”, but appears to have written for MTV, appears to have said she cheated at one point but it’s gone now. Which is. Again. Hmmmm.
It also got reported that she would leave him voicemails or something which ties into the phone call aspect of the song. They also stayed friends which makes sense in the context of that verse. “Don’t call unless you’re dying” seems like an ex-spouse co-parent thing instead of a regular ex.
The “addict/a dick girl, addicted to you” and “screws missing” line— it was getting reported by gossip outlets that she filed for divorce due to his “erratic behavior” and (less reputably reported) his pill abuse.
Granted all of that is Big Sean’s verse, but whatever haha
Also they both went from like tabloid darlings to punchlines in a matter of months, hence “The Mighty Fall” haha

Hi PMI! I think comments were turned off on your question about a Harry/ MM reading so I couldn't reply direct. NBC news in the US doesn't seem to be biting on this car chase story. They even went as far as interviewing the cab driver who picked them up from a police station and said there were a couple cars following but he didn't think it was anything at all. The news story was posted as "Car Chase?". Most people in the US don't care about them. I know for myself I was very supportive in the beginning when they announced they wanted to step away for their mental health. It was presented as we aren't going to be royal anymore and seemed they were going to attempt a quiet life outside of the public eye as much as they could. I thought good for them but they have done everything but be quiet. The NBC story commented on this as well. They have been very public since the exit. And what happened to not using the titles? It was in bold on a screen behind her head for the speech she gave. It's getting more and more ridiculous at this point. Anyway, with the news story scoffing at their car chase claims I would be curious how they feel about the American press not going in their favor? Or was it an intentional trick for monetary purposes or do they really believe their own story? I guess at least on harry's part. Is this mental illness, he's still playing out what happened to mom in his head even if that's not the reality before him or is he in on the manipulative side of things and using his mom's death as a launching point to make money? I hate to think so low of the guy but people do this all the time now so it's hard to discern when people are being genuine. They don't seem to have any kind of game plan though outside of pay us money for existing and showing up at public events. Basically, trying to be American royalty. Maybe this question is to personal for us to have permission to see but he's the one that claimed it was for mental health reasons and I supported him for that. I support anyone who says they are going to take a proactive step to removing something from their life that negatively impacts their mental health. But it just feels like they are intentionally engaging in these activities which makes ones empathy diminish. I see a reality TV show in the future.
Hi!
I cannot believe people still believe them. How? I went to Celebitchy for the comments but her stans are just the worst. One comment said they were British paps and they wanted to k*ll her just like they did with Diana. Seriously, this level of deranged mentality is not funny and very dangerous for everyone! Do we remember that she said "allegedly" that she is just a plane crash away from being Queen? This woman is sick.
It's very amazing that you were able to change your mind when you saw they don't want a quiet life and you questioned them. This is amazing. Unfortunately, many people feel if they change their minds or proven to be wrong that is the end of the world and don't see the opportunity to grow in it.
"And what happened to not using the titles?" Unfortunately, I think that was only about the HRH titles that they cannot use and marching the Sussex name. Do you remember their original plan was to sell Sussex merch, pens, socks and everything in the world? But yeah, this lifelong feminist is a nobody without her husband... She is indeed ridiculous but she and her minions don't care. They hate TBR but they cling to the title they give to her because of her marriage. Ladies and Gentlemen we are living in the Twilight Zone.
But no real organization or awards take her seriously. A few prominent people already said they would never work with her. They were not invited to the MET or the Oscars, no matter how they pushed this "We were invited but we are to famous, we don't want to distract..." I mean this woman was grinning in the middle of her "near fatal" car chase and I suppose to believe she passed on the MET gala? LOL.
Harry definitely has a serious mental illness, unsolved trauma but MM made it worse. On purpose. She is praying on this. Harry also has an ongoing security lawsuit in England so they needed a public event to prove they are not safe without security paid by the British taxpayers. Their arrogance is mindblowing. And the cherry on top is that they could recreate a Diana moment to draw parallels between her and them (MM).
"They don't seem to have any kind of game plan though outside of pay us money for existing and showing up at public events."
If you read, they (throughout Scoobie and Shola) demand a reaction, a statement from Buckingham Palace. That is their plan. Make BP react to everything. Anything. They have nothing without the BP connection meanwhile they are just thriving, living their lives as usual. I bet the new Wales media strategy made MM angry and annoyed.
"Basically, trying to be American royalty."
And this is the insane part because they could have been that. In my opinion, there is 2 type of American Royalty. One is the old money. Kennedy, Rockefeller, Vanderbilt etc, people you heard their names before but you don't really have an idea what they do, how they look because they are not for publicity. They already distanced themselves from MM.
The second type is the self-made, Hollywood, influencer types of "American royalty" who are very public, giving interviews, frequently photographed etc.
They already have this in Britain and they could have this in America, but they are greedy and stupid. MM wanted to rule a world, a society she knows nothing about. She made a laughing stock of herself. Catherine needed almost 20 years to achieve that. From a ridiculed middle-class girl to becoming the queen of British society. And just because she married the heir she didn't get this automatically. She needed to work hard for respect. And she is okay with this because she married for life to the man she loves deeply. She doesn't have to rush anything. MM on the other hand wants everything and wants it now. Because she doesn't love Harry, he is just a tool for her. That's why she will throw him away eventually.

Scoobie gave Kaiser on celebitchy and all the Sussex squad influencers an advance copy of his book according to Victoria Ward and the Telegraph also said he's kept the publisher in the far about his marketing strategy
I don’t understand his strategy either. The book doesn’t work as an attack on the royal family, or as a family biography, or as a commentary on current events. It doesn’t even work as a trashy gossip book, because there’s no revelations.
It’s just Omid’s opinion for hundreds of pages and no one cares about Omid Scobie’s opinion on anything. They want the dirt and he’s not even delivering on the dirt.

The weed farm thing is an invention from a blog called celebitchy, one of their bloggers hates Catherine to a disturbing degree. They invented the pot farm thing wholesale, and they've been flogging that theory for years... So we should find *someone* who reads Kate-Hate blogs and can get a blind item published, I wonder who that might be 👻

But Kate keeps winning tho... I mean... lmao

Wow, I'm surprised Lainey wrote about him at all. She hates him with a passion, for years now, ever since she saw him taking extra thongs at a gifting suite in Vegas. You should read anything she writes about him, if she directly writes about him, as dripping in sarcasm. (Which this is.)
Excuse me?!
Nancy how far back would I have to look at Lainey’s archive to find this story? Or do you remember the headline? I’ve never heard of this before 😂
For the record I really only ever read Lainey or Celebitchy when I’m mad at him because they don’t pull their punches.
This is something I only heard second hand years after it happened when I entered the fandom in 2016. Yeah, apparently in his early Hollywood years (I'm thinking the 2005-2007 period), she apparently saw him in a gifting suite at one of the big Vegas casinos during a special event weekend taking multiple pairs of women's thongs. This completely soured her attitude about him. I have no idea if this story is anywhere in her old archive, or deleted and now only survives as fandom folklore.
I used to love reading Celebitchy but haven't been there in ages.
