“We’ve been in this fucking store for three hours,” Jason groaned to Y/N as they watched Harley and Ivy order the staff around. Turns out Bruce had shut the store down for the day so Y/N and Jason could have their outfits for the Gala selected without interruption. All remaining staff present signed papers not to spread the information and then were left at the mercy of Harley and Ivy.
Every dress and suit that the staff showed the women were either too dramatic (Plain white? She’s not getting married), not dramatic enough (Oh, so now she’s merely going to the Oscars?), too sparkly (what? Was Y/N a Vegas show-girl now?), too poufy (She’s not in a Disney movie, moron), not modest enough (hun, we’re all for wearing what you want, but this is a Gala, there are standards), or too modest (She’s a gorgeous young woman, not a fucking Nun). Harley and Ivy always had something to critique about the dresses, and don’t even get them started on the suits. The women had decided that Jason and Y/N must wear matching outfits, and because the dress hadn’t been picked yet, the suits were all met with an icy glare.
“Now, I’ll say this one more time for you, doll,” Harley smiled sweetly with a deathly glare in her eyes, clapping her hands and leaning into the worker’s face. He was a tall, bulging man, but cowered in fear at Harley, who was half his size and standing on a seat to make eye contact. “This ain’t any plain ole gala here, we need a show-fucking-stopper of a dress, not this cheap crap that you’re prancing around us, not the tacky shit, the best shit, the high-quality shit – you hear me?”
“Yes, Ms Quinn,” the man nodded furiously, “right away, Ms Quinn.”
“Good, now scamper and don’t come back till you got the best fucking dress for our girl, kay?”
“Yes, Ms Quinn, right away, Ms Quinn,” the man disappeared quickly.
“Now, darling, that was a little harsh, don’t you think,” Ivy scolded her partner lightly, tilting her head and pursing her lips with her arms folded as Harley climbed down from the chair, huffing and popping out her hip.
“Y/N deserves nothing but the best,” Harley said, sticking her chin up and strutting to look at shoes for Y/N.
“Give the dresses a chance,” Ivy rubbed her temples, “Y/N hasn’t even tried a single one on.”
“Yeah, Auntie Harley, they might look different on,” Y/N nodded.
“If I don’t like it, it ain’t going on your body, babes,” Harley cocked her eyebrows as she lifted one shoe up, a sleek black shoe with dagger heels.
“Good thing she likes me then,” Jason whispered into Y/N’s ear, causing her to burst into giggles and smack his chest.
“I heard that lover boy,” Harley lifted her eyes to glare at Jason.
“Am I wrong, though?” Jason flashed a classic grin at Harley, who rolled her eyes and chuckled before gliding past him to look at bags, ruffling his hair in the process. Jason frowned and tried to fix his hair quickly.
“Not completely, lover boy,” Harley said, studying a bag and showing it to Ivy, who squinted then nodded in approval, “but we can still take it all back. Remember that!”
“Yes, mam.”
_____--
Saying that the office of Bruce Wayne was grand was an understatement. Spectacular, extraordinary, antique, majestic, and so much more. It was the only room which Y/N hadn’t been in. Part of her felt as though she was intruding. She still felt a little like an imposter, really. It hadn’t even been a month, and Bruce had altered his will to say that Y/N was his main heir. Obviously, he left a little something for Alfred, who would still be employed for the Wayne Family, now that there was one. Dick Grayson had some money left for him, and a car, one which he loved as a young boy and first came to Wayne Manor. Jason, of course, also had a small inheritance lined up for him, and a position waiting at Wayne Enterprises. Selina was left something as well, but Y/N held to gain the most. CEO, a vast fortune, lord knows how many houses and cars and bottles of wine and anything else which wasn’t left to anyone else – it was all hers. When she was made public, Y/N would be one of the most envious people on the planet, part of the 1%. It was terrifying, to say the least. She was going to go from someone the world didn’t give two shits about, a daughter of a single mother who had a criminal record, to someone who would have people sharing everything about her to the world, the daughter of Bruce Wayne, future CEO of Wayne Enterprises. Bruce adored her. He looked at her with pride and joy. She was already the apple of his eye. When Bruce asked if Y/N wanted to see his office, she agreed. It was strange being in a room that was going to be hers one day, one which was her father’s, and her grandfather’s, and great-grandfathers.
“So… Dad…” Y/N said as she walked around the room, looking at everything. There were bookshelves which stretched up to the ceiling, all filled with leather-bound books. “What kinda work do you do in here?”
“Go over statistics, read reports, things like that,” Bruce explained, “we’ll go into more and more detail about this later. Right now, I just wanted to show you it. You don’t have to stress about the CEO stuff yet, I’ll talk you through everything and show you the ropes.”
“Thanks, Dad.”
“It’s not a problem, my dear,” Bruce stroked his daughter’s hair. “So, wanna see the Batcave?”
“Hell yes, Dad!”
Bruce chuckled and grabbed a book off of the self and opening it to reveal it was hollow inside with a small remote. Grabbing the remote out, he moved Y/N to face the empty fireplace. There was a mischievous smile on the older man’s face and a twinkle in his eye as he pointed it and pressed the button. The fireplace pulled back inside itself, and a secret hole underneath it was revealed. Y/N stared and walked forward to see the descending staircase.
“Down we go!” Bruce said behind Y/N.
___-
“And this is where Alfred oversees everything when Jason and I are in the field,” Bruce showed Y/N the computer set-up. There were seven monitors in a mixture of on a desk and mounted on the wall, and three keyboards, but one mouse. All the screens as the Bat Symbol on the screen, slowly spinning around.
“This is a cool set-up, Dad” Y/N let out a low impressed whistle. “The most advanced thing I’ve got is my night-vision goggles.”
“Well, we can give you an upgrade if you want,” Bruce offered, appearing a little sheepish, wondering if he had crossed a line. Bruce was trying so hard to find the balance between fun and protective, worrying about being either too careless or too overbearing. Selina seemed to have it down perfectly, but she had 19 years to learn, Bruce had about 19 days as a father. It wasn’t something you could pick up in a YouTube video. Bruce had to learn it himself. He gave Alfred a lot of credit now as he realised the sudden lurch in the man’s life to care for another living creature, protect and love them. Bruce had no idea how Alfred managed.
“I’d love that, Dad,” Y/N turned to Bruce with a grin on her face, thrilled at the suggestion.
“Why do you keep saying that?” Bruce asked curiously, “calling me ‘Dad’?”
“Oh,” Y/N blushed and looked down as her face fell, “sorry, does it bother you? It’s just… I’ve spent near-on twenty years never being able to call someone ‘Dad’, and now I have you here… I guess… I just want to make up for lost time,” she confessed, “If it bothers you, I’ll stop.”
“No, no,” Bruce shook his head as he met Y/N’s eyes. “I like it,” he said, “it feels… right… hearing you say ‘Dad’. It’s nice.”
“I’m glad… Dad,” Y/N smiled as she hugged her father. “It’s nice to be able to say it finally.”
“It’s nice to hear it,” Bruce whispered into her hair before pressing a fatherly kiss on her forehead. “You’re a remarkable young woman, and I’m so proud to say you are my daughter.”
“I love you, Dad,” Y/N said quietly.
“I love you too, my dear,” Bruce assured her before wrapping her into his arms.
_--
Selina painted Y/N’s toenails while Y/N painted her own fingers. They had both decided on painting them a glittery red colour. As Selina slowly moved the brush over her nails, Y/N wiggled her toes with a giggle, earning a stern look from her mother.
“We don’t want these messed up now, do we, Kitten?” Selina tutted, but smiling afterwards with a small chuckle.
“Alright, alright, sorry,” Y/N laughed, “we should do your nails afterwards,” she said, “I’ve got a lovely shimmery black that would go amazing with your dress!”
“Not tonight though, kitten, we need to let your nails dry before even thinking about mine.”
“Fine,” Y/N nodded, “what about jewellery?” she asked, “what jewellery are you wearing?”
“Nothing dramatic,” Selina said, “gold chain necklace, earrings and maybe a bracelet. I just want it to be subtle, yet elegant.”
Y/N smiled. Subtle, yet elegant – that was Selina Kyle through and though. She never needed to wear giant jewellery or puffed up dresses to catch the attention of an entire room, no, all Selina had to do was smile faintly and hold her head up high, that was all it took for heads to turn and face Selina. She was enchanting, breath-taking, ethereal – Selina Kyle could rival Aphrodite herself as most beautiful. She was beautiful inside and out. She loved and cared about people. She was a good mother, a tender heart, regardless of criminal activities. Selina Kyle was a good person, and that was rare, not just in Gotham, but in the world.
“You’ll be the most beautiful person in attendance, Mama.”
“Thank you, Kitten,” Selina stroked Y/N’s hair, “that’s very kind of you. You will look marvellous as well, Baby, I’ve seen your dress. It’s breath-taking, like you.”
“What are you girls chatting about?” Jason asked leaning in the doorway with a cheeky grin, his eyes entirely on Y/N.
“The gala,” Selina said as she finished up Y/N’s nails and closed up the nail polish, putting it away, “our dresses and stuff like that.”
“Yeah, Y/N is going to look stunning,” Jason grinned.
“How’d you know?” Y/N chuckled as she blew on her nails. “Auntie Harley and Auntie Ivy won’t let you see my dress.”
“It’s like you’re getting married,” Selina teased, causing both Jason and Y/N to blush and look at each other.
“I know because you’re stunning even now,” Jason said. Y/N scoffed. Right now? Well, she was in giant sweatpants, with an equally large shirt that was old and worn out, even a few holes were visible. Her hair was soaking wet, and she had no make-up, showing the acne scars and blackheads on her skin. Y/N couldn’t help but feel insecure. Selina assured her that they could get the scars to fade with the right serum, which they had already found, in fact, they were less prominent than they were a few months ago. With a charcoal peel-off mask, the blackheads would lessen too, but Selina always told her daughter that she was a beautiful young woman, and she was, Y/N was aware of her looks. She was like her mother, but she was still only human, and even the most beautiful humans were insecure. “I mean it,” Jason told Y/N when seeing her facial expression, “you’re stunning.”
“He’s right,” Selina sang as she walked out the room, brushing by Jason, “remember, door open.”
“Yes, mum,” Y/N sighed as Selina waved and disappeared down the hallway.
“She really thinks we’d do that with them in the house?” Jason cocked an eyebrow.
“Considering that you make an innuendo in front of my aunties when we were dress shopping, I can’t blame her.”
“SHE KNOWS ABOUT THAT!?”
“The Sirens are like sisters, Tweety Bird, they tell each other everything.”
“Oh, God…”
“Just be glad she didn’t tell my father,” Y/N laughed at Jason’s already pale expression, which worsened at the thought of Bruce knowing what he said about being on Y/N’s body.
“He doesn’t know, right?”
“The Sirens aren’t stupid, Jace, they know that Bruce would lock me in a tower, Rapunzel-Style, if they told him that.”
“Thank fuck for that,” Jason groaned as he collapsed on Y/N’s bed, right by her feet.
“Hey, don’t ruin my nails with your floppy body!”
“Floppy?” Jason lifted his head, “I ain’t floppy, Kitty Cat, I’m a fucking Greek statue! Perfectly chiselled.”
“Well, there is one small unflattering thing about Greek statues, Jason…”
“You and I both know nothing about me is small,” Jason said, leaning over and kissing Y/N, cupping her face. Y//N leaned into the kiss, eyes closed and carefully placed her hand on his wrist, trying not to ruin her nails. Jason, through the kiss, knew this and chucking against her lips.
“Don’t make me get the spray bottle,” came a voice from the door, causing Jason and Y/N to pull apart quickly to see Ivy and Harley standing there, narrowing their eyes at Jason. Harley made an ‘I’m watching you’ gesture while Ivy folded her arms, tutting and shaking her head, “fucking bunny-rabbits you are.”
“Shouldn’t you be looking after Bud and Lou?” Y/N sighed as she shifted back from Jason.
“They’re at the groomers,” Harley shrugged.
“What groomer handles Hyenas?!” Jason frowned.
“One who has very high rates, trust me,” Ivy rolled her eyes and huffed.
“They look so cute,” Harley clapped her hands wildly, “they come out with matching bows, and they get given a little goodie bag.”
“We’re going to go pick them up now, so behave you two,” Ivy warned, pointing a sharp finger at them before she and Harley disappeared from sight.
“Well, that was embarrassing…”
“They’re gone now though,” Jason grinned.
“No chance are we picking up where we left off,” Y/N scolded, “anyway, Mum and Dad gave us rules, and we need to stick to them.”
“Fine, fine,” Jason chuckled as he stood up and pulled a small box from his pocket. “I’ll do what I originally came here to do then.”
“If you get down on one knee, Jason Todd, I might just faint.”
“Not yet, Kitty Cat, but one day,” he winked as he opened the box and handed it to Y/N. He presented to her the contents inside the box. A pair of earrings. They were silver, it seemed, and hanging off of the silver, like a precious mermaid tear, was matching white pearls that glistened in the light of her room.
“Oh, Jason, you didn’t,” Y/N gasped as she carefully took the box from his hands and looked at the pearl earrings. She looked from the earrings to Jason and then back to the earrings before looking at Jason again.
“I wanted to get you something for the Gala, and since I’m not allowed to see your dress yet, I’d go for something classic and beautiful, like you,” Jason said gently, stroking her wrist, so not to ruin her nails which her still drying.
“Jason…”
“No, don’t, I know what you’re going to say that it’s too much, but it isn’t, it really isn’t.”
“I don’t know what to say,” Y/N smiled.
“You don’t have to say anything.”
“Thank you, Tweety Bird,” Y/N kissed Jason’s cheek, “I love them. They’ll look really good with my dress.”
“And they’ll look gorgeous on you, Kitty Cat.”
“God, you’re such a charmer aren’t you,” she teased.
“Well, when I’ve got such a beautiful girl here, how can I resist?”

 Parler
Parler is a U.S based news based, micro blogging social networking service app which was launched in August 2018 by its founder John Matze.
It is being ardently promoted by political conservatives in America who tout it as alternative to Twitter which they believe is strifling free speech.
Parler is multilingual just like it's arch rival Twitter, it has it's headquarters situated in Henderson, Nevada US.
Parler currently has about 5 million users world wide, and has been downloaded over 1 million times on the Google play store, it has been touted as the fasted growing microblogging site of 2020.
The promoters of Parler say parler is unique in the sense that it's a commenting platform that's not biased, promotes free speech and solidly focused on protecting users right.
They say that parler enables its users create their own community and enjoy contents and news in real time while applying moderation tools to filter contents, they say it empowers users to control their social media experience and be a verified member of the community.
Leon Rife, a parler user wrote this about parler on the internet;"Super easy to use, whipped right through registration page, so i can't understand how others seems to be having a problem with it. I've been using this app for about a month, as well as Twitter and really enjoy parler as the superior app for content and expression...great app and great platform.
Another parler user, Tom lane said the app is wonderful for open self expression, "if you're looking for a Twitter alternative, this is it..."
The oops about the app especially for Nigerian users is that unlike Twitter, Parler requires your valid means of identification for you to be verified, unverified users may have their experience limited as people who don't like what you posted or commented can label you as a robot which may earn you some unpalatable repercussions.
Can parler displace or even stand neck to neck with Twitter? Only time shall tell

Triller
Triller is owned by the owner of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg, it was founded on December 5th,2015, but was retooled, reactivated, reinvigorated and updated on August 5th 2020, in what analysts see as an attempt to rival tiktok.
Triller is a video creation application where an Android phone owner who downloads the app can produce own music videos using the songs that are available in the music library. Triller is a video creation app which also works as a social media platform in various ways.
Thanks to the current situation of tiktok in the face of US president Trump's threat of banning it, Triller is blazing the trails in the hope of catching up with tiktok and even overtaking it.
Triller says it is not seeking to rival tiktok, afterall it is older than tiktok, as it was founded in 2015 while tiktok was founded in 2017, instead it sees itself as the "adult version of tiktok", matured tiktok so to say.
It is available on Android's Google play store, it is 43.93 Mb app as against 58.98Mb making it a darling of users with low end smartphone.
Triller has 120 million downloads as against tiktok's 1 billion downloads, but it's known to have a growth than tiktok.
Trump campaign, snoop Doggy, Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, Eminem and other celebrators have opened triller accounts as triller continuous to cash in on tiktok's China connection backlash.
Promoters of Triller say that Triller enables users to show off their unique talents.
If you know tiktok and you know Triller, if you see Tiktok you see Triller because Trillion is a copycat with advanced modifications. It remain whether American's Triller can beat China's Tiktok in China's home field of copycating.

*****
The office was quiet but that's why you liked it this early. You slipped into your office and quietly shut the door.
Solitude was hard to come by these days. Someone always wanted something from you. Your father wanted you to push boundaries, your sister wanted you to find a social life, your coworkers–employees, now–wanted you to guide them into the future. Everyone wanted something from you and it didn't leave much left.
But early in the morning, before everyone else came to the office? You loved those moments. It was quiet and peaceful, just you and your paperwork as the sun slowly started to filter in through the large windows that surrounded your office.
Alpha testing on the sims was almost complete. Marco's very detailed memos told you that things were headed in the right direction. You were extraordinarily excited for what was next.
This was what was going to put Y/L/N on the map. Maybe even overtake the competition completely.
Unbidden a quick image of Logan came to mind but you shook your head. Three weeks. It's been three weeks; surely you'd stop thinking about him at some point?
Taking down Delos wasn't personal for you the way it was for your dad. He hated James Delos and the thought of trampling them into the ground made him strive for more. You tried to explain that leaving you in the lab would achieve that quicker, but he wouldn't hear it.
"You're my daughter, a Y/L/N, not a scientist."
Like you couldn't be both. Like your degrees cared what last name was written on them.
A new memo was in your inbox so you opened it up. Marco often sent more updates than needed, but you didn't mind. This was the only way you could follow the progression it seemed.
Project Janus:
We seem to have hit a snare. The sims are incredibly lifelike until we try to spawn them. Each one has a different and yet similar reaction and ultimately fails. We don't have the right coding yet.
Marco
Dammit. This wasn't how it was supposed to go at all. Without the exact right coding, the sims would never be enough and never leave alpha testing.
It wasn't that you thought you could do it better than they could. Your people were some of the best in the world. You just wished you were still down there getting your hands dirty.
But maybe there was a different way for you to get your hands dirty.
You opened a drawer and fished out a card that you had slipped under the black metal pen box. The card was high quality; the type of card stock that would come apart almost more like cloth than paper. On the front in neat black type was one name and phone number.
James Delos
You tapped the card on the top of your desk as you thought through your next step. Your dad would kill you. Your sister would disown you.
But Y/L/N would succeed.
Without another thought, you picked up your desk phone and dialed. A soft voice answered, his secretary explaining that Mr Delos doesn't accept calls before a certain time.
"He'll want to take this call," you offered with more confidence than you felt. "Tell him this is Y/N Y/L/N and I'd like to have a chat."
------
The meeting was at a working lunch. James Delos had told you that he was going to send one of his shareholders out to meet with you. It would keep some of the heat off of both your companies until it could be determined if it was going to work or not.
You weren't sure which shareholder you'd be meeting with until you saw the man entering the restaurant.
Shareholder? More like future son in law. William Wyatt had a foot in the door, sure, but by securing a marriage to Juliet Delos, he was making himself indispensable. And apparently it was working because James trusted him with matters that directly affected Delos Inc.
William headed in your direction, a far cry from the cutthroat businessman you expected to join you. You almost wondered if James Delos was taking you seriously at all.
"Ah, Miss Y/L/N," he greeted as he go to your side, offering his hand to you when you stood to greet him. "It's a pleasure to finally put a face to a name."
You gave a tight lipped smile as both of you sat down again. The waiter came over to take your orders, a bored look on her face as she did. You ordered a salad and a water, something light since you had a feeling that this wasn't going to be a very productive meeting, but you came up short when William mentioned someone else was coming.
"My associate will be joining us in a moment," he offered with a smile.
An associate of William's? Another shareholder perhaps? You tried to hide your frown.
James Delos should have just told you that he wasn't interested. This was just ridiculous.
"Ah. There he is," William said as he looked up at the entrance.
You followed his gaze and immediately choked on your tongue. Somehow it didn't occur to you that Logan might come. You hadn't thought the universe could be that cruel.
He was looking at his phone so he hadn't noticed you yet. Part of you wondered if you could slip away without being noticed. William was trying to flag down Logan without causing too much a ruckus and you were trying to sink into your chair.
When Logan did look up, he noticed William's awkward movements first. Then his eyes went to you. And the immediate flash of recognition made you wish you could have slipped away before he looked. There was a heat in his eyes that you didn’t mistake as anything other than displeasure at seeing you after you ditched him three weeks ago.
"Better late than never," William muttered as Logan approached.
Logan heard the words and his eyes landed on you once more. His eyebrow raised as he moved to sit next to William.
"Better late than never," he repeated as he settled in to his seat. He didn't offer you his hand or introduce himself.
He didn't need to.
"Uh," William said uncertainly as he looked between the two of you. "Y/N, this is Logan Delos. Logan, this is Y/N Y/L/N."
His eyes narrowed a bit at your name, but that was the only reaction you got. He slung his arm over the small wall that sat behind their chairs, gesturing with his freehand to you.
“You requested this meeting, Miss Y/L/N,” he said, drawing your last name out a few extra syllables.
“So I did,” you said under your breath. “As I explained to Mr Delos–”
“My father,” Logan said with a pointed look that hopefully William missed.
“–I have a proposition for Delos Inc,” you continued as if he hadn’t interrupted. “My company will soon be launching a new product. As you may know, Y/L/N is more prominent on the east coast. Out here we are still making our bones.”
“You’ve done pretty well for yourself,” William said as he leaned in a bit, pressing his forearms against the table. “Y/L/N rivals Delos Inc in some of the virtual reality aspects that you’ve developed.”
Logan shifted as if he was uncomfortable with William mentioning that. You smiled politely and moved on without addressing that part. It wouldn’t serve your purpose to put them on the defensive right then.
“The product that we’re launching could use a foothold here on the west coast,” you continued, but Logan cut in before you could say anything else.
“How much?” At your startled look, he shrugged his shoulder and gave you a small smirk. “It’s obvious that you’re asking Delos to invest. A fifty-fifty split before the launch?”
“Seventy-five, twenty-five. We’re not looking for a venture capitalist, just a foothold. Y/L/N and Delos Inc rub elbows a little bit and then when it comes time to launch, the company has a good enough reputation to build from.”
William nodded his head as if it made perfect sense. He turned to look at Logan, his eyebrows drawing together as he looked at his associate. Logan looked positively unimpressed.
“What would your father say about you getting in bed with the enemy?”
It hit too close to home. Heat started to trickle up your neck and you forced yourself to stay composed.
“I’m not a board member or a shareholder, Mr Delos; I’m the CEO. I make the decisions that I think are best for my company and I don’t need to ask permission to do something.”
It was a low blow and by the glare you received, you knew the blow landed. He sat up a bit straighter, his eyes darting off to the side. You could see mental calculations going before he cleared his throat. He nudged William and drew his attention to a woman that was standing near one of the other tables.
“Isn’t that Claudia? One of Juliet’s bridesmaids?” At William’s nod, Logan nudged him again. “You should go say hello. The wedding is coming up and you’ll need to make nice with the sorority sisters.”
Reluctantly, William excused himself before he made his way over to the woman. You watched him retreat because it felt safer than staring at the man in front of you.
“I’m going to be honest,” he said lowly, “but getting involved with your company makes me a little apprehensive. If you can’t be trusted to keep your word on some things, why should I believe you now?”
Payback for your earlier jab. You turned and met his eyes, forcing yourself not to get lost in the darkness.
“I didn’t go with you because I found out you are a Delos. I’m not interested in mixing business with pleasure,” you said simply with a shrug, picking up your water to sip at it before you continued. “I’m completely dedicated to my company. I wouldn’t do anything to put it in jeopardy.”
He cocked his head as he stared at you, obviously weighing your words. Finally he reached out for a drink that you hadn’t even noticed be delivered to the table.
“What’s this product that you want us to invest in?”
You pulled your clutch up and removed a thin USB thumbdrive. You let it rest in your palm for a moment before you looked back at Logan.
“It’s called project Orpheus. It’s an interface system, direct and three dimensional. This,” you said as you held up the thumbdrive, “is the censored version of our research thus far. It’s all copyrighted, so I can allow you to see it, but only if you’re serious about investing. I’m not out here to play games.”
Logan, who had teetered between intrigue and disinterest in you since he had arrived, finally showed a new emotion: respect. He glanced over to where poor William seemed to be getting an earful from a woman with too much enthusiasm. Then he looked back at you.
Had you thought the feeling you’d felt with those black eyes on you had been a fluke? Brought on by alcohol and being in a new place and the lack of any connection as the attractive man seduced you with a few looks and a few honeyed words? You felt like you were being lit on fire from the inside as he stared at you right now.
“I’ll make my recommendation to my father based on what your Orpheus shows us,” he said as he held his hand out. “The potential in investing with Y/L/N will outweigh any scuff ups from us being rivals.”
That’s what you were counting on. You dropped the thumbdrive in his palm but you weren’t quick enough to pull your hand away before his brushed yours.
One touch and you were ready to throw the whole plan to hell.
“You boys can stay and enjoy lunch on my company,” you said as you stood up, grabbing your clutch once more. “My number is on the drive so have one of your people give us a call if you decide to go through with it. The thumbdrive is set to wipe itself in twelve hours and will corrupt if copied, so try not to screw me over.”
He smirked as he leaned back in his seat, his drink hanging from his fingers.
“I think I’ve learned my lesson from trying to screw you,” he said with a raised eyebrow.
Yup, you weren’t going to address that. Instead you turned and left the restaurant, not even waiting to say goodbye to William.
Hopefully your little gambit worked. Otherwise your racing heart was for nothing.
------
“I’ve got those schematics you were looking for this morning,” Marco said as he came into your office, putting them down on the table. “Why were you looking at Orpheus? That project has been ready for launch for months.”
“I pitched an investment to Delos Inc,” you admitted, not willing to lie just then.
Marco looked absolutely stunned.
“To Delos? But they are your rivals. Your father–”
“Trusts me to do what I have to.”
He gave you a nod before he settled down in the chair across from you. He still looked a little apprehensive, but you saw something else there. He didn’t wait long before mentioning it.
“Why would you pitch Orpheus for investment? It’s fully funded and, like I said, ready for launch already.”
You tapped a finger against the schematics he had brought you.
“Because Janus isn’t ready. We can’t launch Janus without something under our belt already, even if it was one hundred percent ready. Orpheus is small enough that we can launch it with Delos as an investor and then anything that follows has the immediate step up.”
The realization came over his face and he grinned at you.
“And we can transfer our funds from Orpheus to Janus since it’ll be made up by Delos. And once Janus is ready, we can piggyback off the success from Orpheus.”
You smirked and leaned forward a bit.
“I pitched twenty five but honestly? If they give us ten percent, we’ll be over budget for Janus and Orpheus. All I have to do is make Orpheus last long enough to get Janus out of beta testing and we’ll be golden.”
You’d thought this through quite a lot. You still couldn’t believe how close you were to having it come true. Marco was staring at you with such admiration that you felt a little uncomfortable, but you allowed yourself a moment to bask anyways.
This was why your dad put you in this position. You’d do anything you had to to make Y/L/N successful. And if it gave you one up on Delos Inc, where was the harm in that?

Supergirl and Queerbaiting
Kara Danvers and Lena Luthor are endgame. At least, that’s what the majority of fans of these two believe. Supporters of Kara and Lena, aka Supercorp, have been arguing for them to get together since season 2, but the writers seem to insist that they are just friends, even as they continue to write scenes that mirror other popular tv show couples. This results in queerbaiting.
Queerbaiting, a media tactic that hints at a queer relationship to attract LGBT viewers, has become a rising issue in the past 10 years, with shows like Supernatural, Sherlock, Teen Wolf, Once Upon a Time, The 100, and Rizzoli & Isles contributing to the problem [x]. Afierra from Hypable wrote an article on the issue of queerbaiting within Supergirl, illustrating how the queerbaiting on Supergirl is so strong that even non-LGBT fans can pick up on it.
I want to illustrate how queerbaiting negatively impacts the LGBT fan community. Based on a majority of fan comments found on Tumblr, many fans are ecstatic about the idea of Kara and Lena’s relationship developing into a romantic one [x]. The reason so many fans are fairly positive about the progression of Supercorp’s relationship is that a show previously accused of queerbaiting, The Legend of Korra, revealed in the series finale that the two characters that were used for the “queerbaiting” actually ended up together [x]. This gives many fans of Kara and Lena hope that the two will get together romantically someday on the show.
Comparing Lena and Kara’s relationship to other canon couples from other TV shows demonstrates how the show writers of Supergirl have continued to ‘string along’ the LGBT fans, resulting in fans being extremely displeased and let down. Additionally, with mental health issues being a higher risk for LGBT youth, it is important to look at the negative effects of queerbaiting as it may exacerbate the already alarming state of mental health of LGBT fans.
Evidence of Queerbaiting within Supergirl
Since the introduction of Lena Luthor at the beginning of season 2, “fans of their “relationship” began to emerge, mostly due to the natural chemistry between the two actresses” [x]. There are countless gifs of the flirtatious nature of their relationship. Another gif illustrates how Kara made the same face when James Olsen spoke, whom she was interested in romantically, as when Lena Luthor spoke to her, resulting in hope that Lena will become a love interest for Kara [x].
However, Supergirl is now on its fifth season, and there is no evidence - besides the hope from fans - that Kara and Lena will get together romantically. However, there is speculation that Supercorp will happen as within the Arrowverse shows the main characters have their one and only since the first few seasons of the show - Oliver met Felicity in season one, Iris has been on the show since day one, and Sara met Ava in the third season of Legends and their relationship is still going strong. Besides Lena, her sister, and her father figure, there is no other character that has been on the show for very long; in fact, most of the cast for the fifth season was introduced last season. Additionally, Kara and Lena are portrayed in typical superhero tropes that parallel other shows like Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and even from past shows that depict Superman and Lois Lane [x].
The biggest parallels that fans of Supercorp make is with Superman and Lois Lane, like Kara hovering outside Lena’s window [x]. Another parallel was drawn between Supergirl and The Legend of Korra, where both Kara and Korra are incredibly powerful beings who have an intense love of food, and Asami and Lena are both brilliant women who have an engineering background and have strayed from their families’ beliefs [x]. Asami and Lena have done whatever they could to protect Korra/Kara, and have both inherited their families’ companies, becoming the CEO [x]. Not to mention that both Korra and Asami dated the same man, Mako, at different points during the show, while Kara and Lena both dated the same man, James, at different points during the show. This gives fans of Supercorp hope that Kara and Lena’s relationship will develop into a romantic one, as Supergirl and The Legend of Korra are both very similar shows and Korra and Asami from Legend of Korra ended up together in the end.
All of this - the parallels between other couples from other shows as well as romantically inclined scenes between Kara and Lena - have given fans a base for their belief that the show writers of Supergirl are actively queerbaiting, in which they purposely make the scenes between Kara and Lena somewhat romantic in order to draw in an LGBT audience. At this point, the queerbaiting has become so strong “it’s no longer just Kara and Lena fans who are interpreting their interactions as amorous. People who are completely indifferent to the pair or don’t even watch the show are recognizing what’s happening” [x].
For over three years, Supercorp fans have been queerbaited by the show writers of Supergirl, and this constant queerbaiting affects the LGBT fans because there isn’t a belief that “it’s just a matter of time” but that they must hold dear and take whatever scraps they are given. The fans want and hope that Supercorp will happen, but there isn’t any fan that is 100% sure that Kara and Lena will end up together like fans of heterosexual couples. This lack of certainty that LGBT fans exhibit is based on the history of LGBT portrayal within the media. The lack of portrayal of LGBT fans in the past, as well as a history of queerbaiting from a multitude of popular shows, results in LGBT fans’ low confidence in seeing themselves represented on screen.
Research that Supports the Negative Effects of Queerbaiting
LGBT fans have only just begun to see a spark of more LGBT centered shows and movies within the past few years, but there are also many shows which have queerbaited their LGBT audience. For instance, The 100, while giving its audience a lesbian “relationship” between Clarke and Lexa, \they had a total of two romantic scenes in which Lexa was killed off the show right after the last romantic scene of the two. A majority of the fans were outraged due to the Bury Your Gays (BYG) trope, where a character who is revealed to have a queer identity is then shortly killed off the show because the “BYG trope punishes these characters by erasing them from the narrative entirely if the depiction indeed goes beyond subtext to include acknowledged queer identity” [x]. Both queerbaiting and the BYG trope is harmful to the LGBT fan community as fans see themselves in these characters, and when those characters are pushed into an opposite-sex relationship or their sexuality is limited to subtext, it implies to the LGBT fan community that their sexuality should never be acted on and they should always remain hidden. More than 70% of LGBT youth have reported “feeling sad or helpless for at least two weeks in the past year” [x], and with popular media utilizing queerbaiting within their shows, it doesn’t help the already despondent LGBT youth. Therefore, “both queerbaiting and BYG…  punish queer audiences by the suggestion (or even promise) of quality LGBTQ representation, only to have their hopes dashed” [x].
In season five of Supergirl, the queerbaiting has reached a whole new level in that the fans don’t even need to reach to find hidden implications of a romantic nature between Kara and Lena. But throughout these Supercorp scenes, there are always reaffirming their friendship status. By the writers reaffirming Kara and Lena’s relationship as “just friends” and then at the same time playing into the romantic tropes between Kara and Lena, it gives the LGBT fan less confidence to believe that they will get to see the happily ever after they crave because, in the past, many relationships they believed had the potential to be something more was written off as “just friends” or the characters that were confirmed queer were then killed off. This implies to the LGBT fan community that having a happy ending isn’t for queer characters and therefore, not for their queer audience either.
The LGBT youth fan community is already struggling with mental illness and a sense of identity due to having to hide their true selves or be unable to acknowledge it because of still prevalent homophobia, so many will turn to media as a distraction or even as a way to gain hope for their own future. But when so many shows are debased to queerbaiting, the hope these fans have for their future becomes further diminished with lack of representation, and will negatively affect the LGBT fan audience to believe that nothing will come out of their hopes and beliefs of two characters getting together romantically.
Conclusion
From the analysis of the evidence above, it’s becoming more obvious that the Supergirl writers are actively queerbaiting their audience to the point that LGBT fans aren’t the only ones noticing it. As discussed previously, queerbaiting negatively affects LGBT youth as it diminishes their hope for a better future, further outcasts them within society, and lowers their self-confidence. Therefore, with a popular show that is so clearly queerbaiting its audience, it further drives the previous negative points of this issue because it's now seen by all types of audience members that the LGBT fans aren’t worth the happy ending they seek within popular media.
Producers and writers of popular media need to understand the detrimental effects of queerbaiting the LGBT fan community. Therefore, more action will be taken by fans if they feel that Supergirl has wronged them in the lack of representation between Kara and Lena.
Therefore, the writers of Supergirl need to either stop blatantly queerbaiting their audience or allow for Kara and Lena’s relationship to develop into what many fans have already vied for: Supercorp. If the writers continue to walk the path they’re currently on, fans will become outraged and the ratings of their show will come down. So, for the benefit of Supergirl, the fans’ happiness and mental stability, stop with Supercorp and queerbaiting.

How to Run a Startup Remotely: Tips for Hiring, Managing & Scaling
For traditional founders and team leaders, the idea of running a completely remote business is fraught with anxiety. Yes, there’s an opportunity to lower overheads and recruit from anywhere, but is it really worth it at the expense of growing a cohesive brand culture under one (literal, physical) roof?
Tumblr media
Many businesses have had to find out quickly if remote working works for them (for obvious 2020 reasons), but lots of successful startups recognized the benefits long before a pandemic forced their hand. Companies like Buffer, Mozilla, and Zapier have blazed a trail when it comes to WFH, while tech giants Twitter and Google are now offering their staff the opportunity to work remotely forever.
So, how do they make it work?
As we’ll discover in this post, there are few key elements to getting it right, namely in the hiring, growing, and managing stages. And woven throughout are the three non-negotiable core principles of remote working:
Trust
Communication
Collaboration
Without further ado, here are our best tips to grow your startup remotely and build a culture from wherever your people are.
1. Hiring remotely: Spot and recruit talent quickly
The best thing about growing your startup remotely is that you’re not limited to your local talent pool. You can cast your net far and wide to find the best people for your situation, no matter where in the world they’re based.
Yet, while the choice of applicants is undoubtedly larger, the goal of hiring for a remote job isn’t all that different from hiring in-person. Ultimately, you’re still being tasked with spotting, vetting, and interviewing talent — you’re just doing it entirely online.
Tumblr media
Let’s take a look at how to do this effectively.
How to Identify Talent for Your Startup
The aim of any recruitment drive (short-term or long-term, online or off) is to find and hire people you can trust.
But doing this remotely for a fast-growing startup introduces an element of time pressure. You can’t always stick an ad up on social media and wait for an influx of applicants. Sometimes you need to go out there and find the right candidate yourself, fast.
The good news is, there are a number of digital platforms designed for this. Websites like Upwork, Fiverr and others are solid options for low-skilled, one-off, or short-term needs. You can usually find a verified freelancer for simple graphic design, data-entry, or copywriting tasks on these sites with very little fuss.
Hiring remotely for high-skilled, core team roles, on the other hand, requires a slightly different approach. There’s more risk involved when building your team, rather than simply delegating smaller tasks to hourly freelancers. You need to ensure that anyone you’re adding to your payroll has the right mix of skills, personality, and culture fit to hit the ground running – otherwise, you’re back to square one.
Beyond the conventional freelance or contractor hiring sites, new platforms are starting up and changing the game by handling the burden of due diligence and filtering out anyone who doesn’t fit your needs and profile. They’re bringing in things like strict vetting, using technical assessments, video interviews, and reference checks. This reduces the amount of time and energy you spend on assessing the suitability – or credibility – of a candidate, and means that you can hire smarter, quicker.
Here are a few more resources to help when recruiting and retaining remote employees:
How to attract, hire and retain remote employees via Workable
Hiring remotely is the new reality. Here’s how to do it with speed via Fast Company
3 mistakes not to make when hiring remote employees via The Muse
2. Growing remotely: Implement the right tools and processes
Speaking at a Google Startups panel, Sid Sijbrandij, co-founder and CEO of GitLab said that entropy is lower for remote startups. Why? Because everything is written down.
“There is less shoulder tapping. Days are more predictable,” according to Sid.
So, to grow your startup remotely without disruption, you need to nail those processes. Write everything down. And remember, communication is key here.
Repeat: Communication is key
As we’ve mentioned, along with trust, communication and collaboration are non-negotiables when it comes to effective remote working. You need transparent communication processes to enable effective collaboration. You also need buy-in from your team; every single one of them must grasp the importance of regular contact with their co-workers.
It’s, therefore, a good idea to start each day with a team check-in.
Just as you would have a stand-up meeting or a scrum in the office, jumping onto a video call first thing gives you a chance to address questions and concerns, ensures that everyone knows what they’re doing, and gives your team the chance to see and speak to one another. This also keeps siloes from forming, or individuals becoming lonely or disenfranchised.
Over and above this, you should also run regular, company-wide meetings (monthly or quarterly) to keep everyone in the loop regarding overall progress and provide opportunities for internal feedback.
Choose and use the right remote management tools
To get your remote team up-to-speed and communicating like pros, you need to provide them with the right set of tools.
At a minimum, this should include:
Company email for formal communication.
Slack or Teams to power day-to-day internal messaging.
Zoom or Google Meet for quality, reliable video calls.
Dropbox or Google Drive for cloud file storage and collaboration.
Trello or Notion for task allocation and project management.
Once you’ve selected your preferred remote tool stack, you need to build it into your onboarding process, familiarizing each new hire with the ins and outs of each platform.
3. Managing remotely: You’re learning all the time
Managing a remote team is not without its challenges. And perhaps the most significant of those is the fact that you don’t get as much in-person face-to-face time with your employees.
Sure, you can hop on a video call, but it can still be difficult to pick up on subtle emotional cues and changes in body language that you might spot if you were sitting in the same room. This means you could miss out on identifying the employees who need your help the most.
Tumblr media
To guard against this, you need to ensure that your employees are motivated by meaningful work, that they know that you care about them (professionally and personally), and that they have an avenue through which to express concerns, ask questions, and offer feedback.
Motivation is mission-critical
Here’s the truth: Bored People Quit.
It’s up to you to make things non-boring. And the best thing about working in a startup, in general, is that each person has a very specialized, significant role geared towards growth. Everyone can see that what they’re doing is having an impact.
This has to remain true even when you’re growing your startup remotely. Every single employee should have visibility (and be visible) as you pursue your next growth milestone. They cannot be allowed to work in a silo, wondering if what they’re doing really matters.
Publicly celebrate success
A continuation of the last point, to keep your startup team motivated, you can’t let an individual or group win slip under the radar without a bit of fanfare — especially when you’re working remotely.
Something as simple as a public congratulations (with all your favorite Emojis and Gifs) on your general Slack channel will quickly draw attention to good work and those responsible. You could even spring for some perks to make things extra special.
Tumblr media
WordStream recognizes and celebrates employees who embody our core values each month at our all-hands meeting
Plus, publicly celebrating success shows that you’re paying attention (employees feel valued) and that you truly care. Same goes for highlighting important milestones in your employees’ personal lives. Give shout outs for birthdays, charity work, family events; prove that you’re interested in more than their work performance.
Do regular performance reviews
Regular performance reviews are a staple of every successful business, but they take on extra significance when you’re growing a remote startup.
Once you’ve set expectations and clarified what success looks like, a remote performance review provides a designated, structured touchpoint for each employee to reflect on their role, their performance, and look ahead to their next period’s goals and objectives. What’s more, performance reviews offer a platform for your employee to share concerns or provide you with honest feedback on how you’re doing.
This formal one-to-one is conducive to a healthy remote working environment, but it shouldn’t be the only opportunity for dialogue. Try to schedule regular, informal meetings to check-in frequently over a (virtual) coffee — this will give you the chance to catch any minor issues early before they mushroom into real problems.
The bottom line: To succeed remotely, lead by example
If you’re going to succeed in growing your startup remotely, you can’t just pay lip service to the core principles of remote working. You need to eat, sleep and breathe communication, collaboration, and trust – putting them into practice at every opportunity.
Of course, there’s a balance to be struck. You need to trust that your employees can work autonomously, but you can’t be so hands-off that they feel abandoned. And you need to ensure that lines of communication remain open, but you shouldn’t micromanage and insert yourself into every conversation or collaboration.
In short, you need to lead by example, showing your employees how it’s done. Remember, trust is earned. “Do as I say, not as I do” simply won’t cut it in the world of remote working.

This time he is partnering with an other software guy called Kelechi MMONU. I am sure you will love using MailConversio.
MailConversio Review – What Are The Best Features?
Social growth elements that include: twitter post preview, Instagram post preview, TikTok post preview, Facebook post preview, blog post preview, and link in post preview. You can easily integrate any of these elements of social growth into your email campaign.
Interactive elements: with these you can quickly insert interactive elements to help your customers engage with their audience and get better feedback from them. These include: google map, forms/questionnaires, polls/votes/surveys, social badges, footer signatures and feedback bars.
Conversion elements are designed to make ’email readers’ click through and act immediately. These include YouTube video previews, video previews, autoplay customizations, custom gifs, progress bars and countdown timers.
The best part is that these elements can be integrated into more than 30 autoresponders and can also be easily integrated into email service providers such as Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook and Yahoo.
Mailconversio is cloud based. Nothing you need to download, instal or update. Plays on any device at any time.
Create as many personalized emails as you want with zero restrictions.
With free commercial rights, you can use the software to sell emails to others without any upgrades needed to do so.
MailConversio Review – How To Use This Software?
Let’s take a look a look into the dashboard view of MailConversio.
Now, let’s create a “New Tool”. Either you can pick any one of the elements or search and pick one. Note: you have over 20 conversion elements inside MailConversio.
I am just naming the campaign as “SPS Reviews Demo” and then pasting an example YouTube URL over there. Also i am putting a “Redirect URL”. It can be anything (may be an offer).
I am prefer to choose “Perdonalization” turned on.
Choose a play button. It will show according to the tool type of campaign type. This one is based on YouTube video URL so it display to choose a play button.
There are over 30 top email marketing platforms codes can be generated with MailConversio.
I am choosing Sendiio as my mailing platform. So that MailConversio will generate a HTML code to that specific platform.
After choosing the mailing platfom, the code will be generated. Just copy to clipboard.
Go ahead and paste your HTML code into your favorite autoresponder. Mine is Sendiio. That’s it.
Take a look into the analytics if you want to know more about your campaign. How many clicks you received and so on.
Is MailConversio Worth Buying?
From all that has been said, the value proposition is quite clear as it solves a real pressing and costly problem. If we come from the angle of sending email campaigns without conversions and sales, we are looking at paying hundreds of dollars to AR companies without any return on investment. It’s a complete waste of money.
But let’s not take it that far, if you were to hire a freelancer/solo ads expert to build your list, you could easily be charged $1k to $5k but there’s still a bad part! As you run your campaigns day after day, you continue to pay recurring fees to autoresponder companies without any conversion.
So you see the true value of the problem that this software solves? To be fair, I’m going to say that Mailconversio is worth $297 a month. But if you add an Email Writer app that opens up a real opportunity for every user, then MailConversio is worth $497-$997 per month.
With that said, you are also gonna get a special Email Mastery Training specifically for MailConversio customers. Increase profits and generate more leads. This 7 module video training teaches users how to dominate in email marketing.
Building your list with valuable content
Content planning
Presenting your lead magnet
Creating opt in forms and landing pages
Thank you pages
Automated emails
Traffic and promotion
Now, I can confidently say that this software is definitely worth the investment of paying $37 to $47 one-time.

MailConversio Review -My Final Thoughts
Before I give my final thoughts, which I think are already obvious, I would like to say one or two things about the product creator and the product vendor.
First, ifiok Nk is ceo snapilabs inc., a fast-growing software company responsible for a number of bestseller software platforms and real-life solutions (just like mailconversio).
Snapilabs has a full-time team of developers and support staff, which is why they have an unmatched reputation in customer support and software maintenance.
Some of the software platforms of this serial creator are contentburger, socicake, designbundle, uduala, convertproof and a host of others.
He partnered with Kelechi Mmonu for this launch, who created a kickass product-mailconversio. He brought the product to ifiok nk and used it and saw its opening, engagement & sales tripled. They want you to use it now too.
So on this note, I’m going to say; mailconversio is a timely solution and I highly recommend it. Without a doubt, I can give it a five-star review, anything other than “bias!” ”. You can go ahead and secure your access, your investment is safe and sound, cheers!

14 Best Hotel Social Media Marketing Tips to Help Increase Bookings (with examples)
Tumblr media
The hotel and hospitality industry in the early 2000s is far different from what it is now, with the advances of technology and social media marketing, the way we market to customers has changed.
For instants, 68% of guests want to speed up the check-in process by using their smartphones. And 90% of Instagram users follow a business on Instagram and have the disposable income to make purchases.
Using social media effectively can not only help to solidify your hotel's brand presence but drive a steady stream of income and bookings your way. Hotel brands can no longer ignore that customers are expecting them to be social media and tech-savvy in this fast-paced world.
Today I'll be showing you 15 best hotel social media marketing tips to increase bookings.
1. Create a Social Media Marketing Plan
For you to master your hotel's social media, you'll need to create a social media plan. A poorly planned social media campaign can leave the wrong impression on customers and potential followers. Not to mention, it could mean losing money instead of making it.
A good social media marketing plan has a clear goal and objective. Trying to achieve too many things at once will only confuse. You can choose the following goals for your next social media marketing plan:
Get feedback from customers
Building email marketing lists
Increasing website traffic
Improving overall brand engagement
Directly driving sales
Increasing product purchases
If you’re still not sure how to put together a goal for a social media marketing plan you can download this free 11-step template: social media marketing plan. It's filled with all the things you need to plan for your hotel social media marketing strategy effectively.
2. Set Key Performance Indicators
Once you have your marketing plan and goals in place, it's time to select your KPI's (Key Performance Indicators). KPI's help you to measure your social media marketing efforts; this includes clicks, shares, likes, comments, profile visits, and bookings.
Here are a few more examples of social media KPI's you can use for your social media marketing plan:
Tumblr media
For example, if you want to increase engagement, your KPI could be to increase comments on your social media pages. When posting on social media, make a note of which post has the most comments and make a note of the content so that you can replicate that effect.
Hotel Example: The Beekman Hotel
Tumblr media
3. Update Your Hotel's Social Media Profiles
If you currently have social media platforms, then it's time for you to update them. Nothing turns customers away faster than outdated information on your social media profiles.
Here are three effortless ways you can update your social media profiles with examples from Moxy Hotel:
1. Update your display image or profile picture: Most people will see your profile picture before they recognize your username. Choose from your hotel's logo, CEO, or an employee representative to be the face of your social media profile.
Tumblr media
2. Add a description to your bio: Think of your social media bio as an elevator pitch to convince your followers to book a stay at your hotel. Here's a free guide on how to write every kind of social media bio.
Tumblr media
3. Add your contact information: Remember to add your website and contact information on your social media pages. You want to make it as easy as possible for customers to reach out to you online.
Tumblr media
4. Manage and Increase Bookings with Your Social Media Platforms
Platforms like Facebook and Instagram now allow you to incorporate booking software and apps to your profile to make your customer's booking journey seamless.
All Facebook business profiles now come with CTA's (Call to Actions). You can add the following call-to-action buttons to your business account on Instagram:
Book: Book an appointment.
Reserve: Make a reservation at a restaurant.
Get Tickets: Get tickets for an event.
You can also add a booking feature on Instagram as well. You can add Instagram approved third-party apps like Appointments by Square, Appointy, GenBook, GetSquire, Gettimely, GlossGenius, Gopanache, MyTime, Eventbrite, and more.
To learn how to add a CTA button on your Instagram profile, check out Schedulicity video below:

5. Use Instagram to Build a Community for Your Hotel
The selfie inspired platform has turned into a multi-billion dollar platform for business, brand awareness, and community building. It doesn't matter if your hotel is a large corporate chain or a local business. Instagram is a must if you plan to master social media marketing.
Here are some reasons why adding Instagram to your social media toolbox:
More than one in ten users are using Instagram specifically to shop or find new products.
Around 81% of people use Instagram to help research products and services.
200 million Instagram users visit at least one business profile daily.
When it comes to Instagram, it's all about content, engagement, and value proposition. Nothing else matters. Popular brands increase in followers because they follow these three key aspects, along with adding their brand's personality in the mix.
Hotel Example: Refinery Hotel
Tumblr media
It would help if you also thought about adding content to Instagram stories. Approximately 62% of people say they have become more interested in a brand or product after seeing it in Stories.

6. Use Pinterest to Drive Hotel Bookings
Pinterest is another social media platform that hotels should consider using to market their brand. Compared to Instagram and Facebook, high-income and educated US households are twice as likely to use Pinterest as low-income and less educated US households.
Not to mention 90% of weekly users use Pinterest to make purchase decisions, so if you're looking for customers who are willing to pay your prices regardless of the cost.
Making Pinterest is a worthy social media investment.
Hotel Example: Langham Hotel's
Tumblr media
Keep in mind that it is all about the long game, unlike other social media platforms where you'd see instant results, Pinterest’s growth and impact happens over time.
Pinterest is, after all, a medium; all pins must have a link associated with it so that users can learn more about your hotel or products. This is perfect for driving traffic to your hotel's website or blog.

7.Use Facebook Ads to Drive Traffic to Your Website
Facebook may not be as youthful as Instagram, but Facebook ads are still one of the best ways to increase sales and conversions. An average Facebook user clicks on 11 ads per month.
The key is to send people to specific pages of your website rather than using ads to drive direct traffic to your site.
You'll have a better change converting viewers into customers when your ad, message, CTA, and landing page has to have a specific message.
Tumblr media
Here are some examples of high converting Facebook ads for hotels and travel.
8. Invest in Apps and Editing Tools to Create Amazing Content
Social media users have become accustomed to seeing quality content from brands. To keep up, you'll have to invest in some editing tools to make your social media content more appealing.
Merely taking a picture and posting it isn't enough anymore. You have to add a little bit of magic to show your content at its best.
Here are some social media apps you should start investing in to edit your content:
Best Social Media Apps for Video
1. VSCO
Tumblr media
Available: for Android & IOS
VSCO is a personal favorite for influencers looking for filters and editing tools for images to post on their feed. Did you know they also offer video editing features for Instagram stories as well?
2.Filmmaker Pro
Tumblr media
Available: for IOS
This app is made for anyone who wants to edit videos a bit more technical than iMovie or Clips. Once you've uploaded your video to the app, you can edit videos in landscape (16:9), portrait (9:16) (Instagram story size), and square (1:1) (Instagram feed). You're not limited to videos. You can also edit photos for your Instagram stories.
3. InShot
Tumblr media
Available: for Android & iOS
This app allows you to place your video in different ratios so you can easily resize, crop, or take your design further and use a colored background, built-in templates, or photo collages to make your video pop on Instagram.
Best Social Media Apps for Pictures
1. Canva
Tumblr media
Available: Desktop, Andriod & iOS
This tool is a personal favorite of mine when it comes to creating content and Instagram stories for Wishpond's own Instagram.
Canva allows you to create graphics, videos, and GIFs, all tailored for your Instagram story. Choose from several beautiful templates with an easy-to-use editor to drag, drop, filter, and design your Instagram story as you like.
2. Adobe Spark Post
Tumblr media
Anything Adobe puts its name on either has a steep learning curve, is a creative's go-to, is a gateway to exceptional content or all of the above.
That being said, if you're looking for something a bit more technical to get all the little details right, Adobe Spark Post is your app. It allows you to add not just filters but effects, sizing, coloring, and editing tools on par with Photoshop and Lightroom. You can also convert photos into GIFs or videos ready to upload to your Instagram stories.
3. Unfold
Tumblr media
Available: iOS or Android
Unfold has been on the rise since 2017 and has been named by Refinery 29 as "the must use Instagram story app."
9. Partner with Other Brands for Co-Promotions
A co-promotion is when two brands combine marketing efforts to promote each other's services. Reach out the businesses or brands in your area that compliment your hotel's brand and host a co-promotion campaign.
Your co-promotion could be with a local spa, travel agency, or theme park, where you provide your services at a discounted price to attract customers to book a stay.
Once you found a business to work with, start promoting your offer on social media, in ads, and even offline.
Here are some more creative hotel promotion ideas you can try.
10. Show Off Customer Reviews & Testimonials on Social Media
First impressions begin online, and what customers find about you through search and comments can make or break that impression. For customers who have never experienced your hotel, it's important to show off your best customer reviews and testimonials to persuade them to choose you over your competitors.
Dimensional Research found that 90% of respondents who recalled reading online reviews claimed that positive online reviews influenced buying decisions, while 86 % said negative online reviews influenced buying decisions.
Hotel Example: The William Vale Hotel
Tumblr media
When it comes to customer reviews on social media here are three key tips you should follow:
Ask for it: If you want to get the ball rolling, ask customers to leave reviews during or as they're about to check out from your hotel. You can also send a follow-up email to remind customers just in case it slipped their minds.
Monitor and regulate it: Take the time to check-in and read reviews, don't make the assumptions that it'll always be good. You want to check your social media mentions as well. Never be the last to know what your online community is saying about your hotel.
Don't ignore negative reviews: Some negative reviews come from impossible to please customers, while others are from customers you can learn from and find ways to improve your hotel. After all, no resort or hotel is genuinely perfect. There may be departments or workflows that need to change that you might not be well aware of when you're busy with other projects.
11. Host a Giveaway on Social Media
Giveaways do more for your hotel than they do for the winners. It's one of the top ten best ways to grow your following and increase brand awareness. Instagram accounts that hold contests grow their followers 70% faster on average compared to accounts who don't have contests and giveaways added to their social media strategy.
Giveaways give you a chance to engage and learn about your customers if done right.
The best time to host a giveaway is to capitalize on holidays and seasons. If a holiday is coming up, you can create a giveaway targeted towards people looking for gifts or prizes.
Holidays come a lot sooner than you think, by October you have your hands full with Thanksgiving, Halloween, Black Friday and Christmas.
Need help with your next contest ?
Book a free call to learn how our team of contest experts can help you create a high converting Facebook contest today.
Here are three things to consider when hosting your hotel's giveaway:
1. Use a striking image for your contest post
You need to use a powerful image to grab people's attention and be curious enough to read your post and enter. You can use the tools I mentioned earlier, like Canva or Venngage, to create a giveaway post.
Tumblr media
2. Set a start and end date for your giveaway.
The best duration for your campaign is 25 days to 60 days. This gives your giveaway enough time for followers to find, share, and enter for their chance to win. You should also place the date you'll be announcing the winner of your giveaway. Stating this in your caption allows contestants to know when to check your social media profile along with their own for any good or bad news.
Tumblr media
3. Have detailed and clear entry rules and methods.
Leave no stone unturned. You need to make your rules fool-proof, to protect you from an angry contestant's remarks or legal challenges. Each social media platform has its own rules and guidelines for hosting contests or giveaways, mainly Facebook and Instagram. Read them carefully and add their disclaimers in your caption.

12. Partner with Lifestyle or Travel Influencers
Influencer marketing is one of the top marketing trends brands should be used to supercharge their marketing. Influencer marketing is predicted to be worth $15-20 billion by 2022.
London blogger and influencer Eva often post about her travel adventures. When she visited the Ruby Lucy Hotel & Bar, she posted a full review of her stay, endorsing the hotel to her 44k followers.
When you work with an influencer, you're promoting your products and services to a wider audience, instead of the followers already committed to your hotel, you'll tap into thousands of new each influencer has to offer you.
Hotels work best with travel or lifestyle influencers rather than influencers from other niches. Travel influencer's followers are already engaged to learn the latest spots and locations they can visit for themselves.
With the right influencer, you can start a long-term partnership to grow your outreach continually. Here are some detailed guides to master influencer marketing:

13. Post Consistently by Scheduling Your Social Media Content
As you grow your hotel's social media marketing, you'll begin to see that posting consistently will do you more good than posting now and then. Social media users want routines, and once they know you'll be posting daily or once a week, they'll expect it from you going forward.
Set a routine for your followers so they can anticipate your post. That's why you'll need to schedule your content. Scheduling your content once a month gives you free time to check in on your social media once a week and worry about other things, it'll also allow you to post consistently.
Here are the best social media scheduling tools and platforms for your hotel:
Buffer
Tumblr media
CrowdFire
Tumblr media
Hootsuite
Tumblr media
Sprout Social
Tumblr media
14. Do a Social Media Audit
Once you've set your social media goals, posted content, and engaged with your followers, it's time for you to do a social media audit.
A social media audit allows you to take a look at your results if you've met your KPI's and what actions you'll continue to use to get to your main goal. You want to make sure that you track these five metrics to track your hotel's lead generation. Try to do a social media audit monthly or quarterly, too soon, and you won't give your content enough time to gather results.
At the end of the day, you want your social media ROI (Return on Investments) to be greater than the cost it takes to run ads, pay influencers and social media tools.
Download this free Social Media Checklist (with a free template) to track your social media growth and keep good marketing habits!
Summary
Growing your hotel's social media presence and followers will take time and work. No number of ads or shortcuts can help you to develop a massive following. The key is to be consistent and create engaging content.

wanna one as your fanboys
requested by my fav woojin stan anon lol
Tumblr media
have a gif of your man btw lol
a reverse au where instead of them being your idols, you’re being their idols.
a/n: i did some editing on minhyun’s bc this man ain’t quiet,,, he’s literally the loudest out of nu’est smh
jisung:
MEMES. Jisung would be the one fan who’d be turning you into a living meme. Even if you already were a living meme, he’d make you into an even funnier one. Plenty of screenshots of your cute derp faces would be sent to his friends often as reactions, due to the fact that he couldn’t react to their messages in real life. Sometimes, if he were ever feeling especially hilarious, he’d message you on Instagram with a meme he made of you captioned, “notice me unnie/oppa, please!” You’d view his profile when you were looking through your incredibly filled DMs, and you’d laugh loudly at the sight of his clearly male feed. If he met you in real life, he’d spend his time making you laugh with puns and funny faces the entire time, since it was short lived and he wanted to do anything to make it last.
Tumblr media
sungwoon:
Sungwoon admired you so, s o much, and no one could blame him, because he believed you were perfect. You were the juniors of his buddies, Kai and Taemin, and at one point, he was jealous that they were under the same company as you were. “So, like, when is your CEO gonna let me into the building to let me see (y/n) - I mean, your group members?” He’d ask them every once in a while. Sungwoon would also be singing along to your parts in your latest hit single while he was with his group of friends as if it weren’t obvious enough that he liked you. Once they finally obliged to him meeting you, his ears would heat up once he saw you, like they typically did when he was embarrassed. You would probably also hear some small voice cracks every now and then while talking to him, but probably because he was tired and flustered, which didn’t exactly click in his agenda. Oh well - you called him adorably handsome, and that’s all that matters.
Tumblr media
minhyun:
There were two sides to his fanboy, the fanboy where he’d be smiling to himself when he hears your name on the streets or something, and the fanboy where he’s jumping around the house and happily screaming your new song. Neighbours of his wouldn’t be surprised when they hear his loud voice on the other side of the wall. Minhyun also seems like someone who enjoys making covers of your songs. He was pleased to think that your songs, your angelic voice matched with his light and thin tone extremely well. People who followed him were also your fans and they enjoyed his covers when he occasionally posted them, but the most important thing here is that they literally begged Minhyun to do a (y/n) selca day thing because they thought the two of you looked great together. After crying to himself, ranting to Dongho about it (”they’re like me to you, bro, they aren’t gonna let me live”), and disagreeing with his followers for the longest time, he would post it. And, not gonna be lying here, they were right - the amount of visual in that relationship would be incredible.
Tumblr media
seongwoo:
Similarly to Jisung, he’d express his love through memes and other funny things. He’d probably be the type who has a spam account on Instagram where he posts crack videos that he made of you and photos of you making hearts captioned, “have I ever mentioned how much I f u c k i n g love (y/n) because I LOVE (Y/N) SO MUCH”. Probably also in the comments section of your music videos with the most original comments, including jokes and gags without forgetting to mention how great you looked and how wonderful you sounded. Seongwoo would never hesitate to start jamming out to your songs if they ever came on in public, hitting some of the dance moves smoothly while shopping for clothes. He’d draw some attention to the other shoppers, and he’d be hoping the slightest bit that you were there watching him dance as well.
Tumblr media
jaehwan:
I don’t know why (lol), but Jaehwan seems like a proud member of stan twitter. Sometimes, he’d be really soft and post acoustic covers of your songs which would cause an uproar in the fandom. He’d smirk once he saw the amount of reposts there were on Twitter itself, as well as seeing his covers on Instagram and Tumblr. Other times, he’d be shitposting just as much as Seongwoo would be. Heck, Jaehwan and Seongwoo would probably be partners in crime, making the dankest memes possible and making other users vote for which meme is better. Jaehwan’s probably also the type to ship himself with you, saying things like, “look at that. Just look at it, Ong, (y/n) and I would be the ultimate visual couple. Ultimate visual, vocal, flute playing couple. No, shut up, I don’t care if (y/n) plays the clarinet. Our children would inherit our talent and beauty and they’d be fucking legends just like (y/n) was.”
Tumblr media
daniel:
As we all know, Daniel loves dancing to Signal, so he loves dancing to your songs as well. Like his husband #ongnielisscience Seongwoo, hearing any of your big hits in public means a celebratory dancing spree, no matter what he was doing at the time. At the vet for his cats? He’d be doing the hand movements in the waiting room. Just woke up from a coma? Playing your music gets him back into daily routine immediately. Preparing dinner with his family? He’d be shuffling down the counter to the upbeat melody. Asides from that, he would seems like the type of person to think about your ideal type every once in a while - he thought about how he would make a good boyfriend to you. Of course, he was smart enough to keep his daydreaming to himself; that is, until he meets you in person and just falls for you even harder.
Tumblr media
jihoon:
I can honestly imagine Jihoon being your classmate while you’re an idol. He’d admire you from afar while you were with your close friends, he would feel jealous once someone else came over to talk to you about your popularity. He looked up to you greatly and quietly listened to your music both in his free time and, often times, during class. If he was feeling rather ambitious that day, he’d casually start talking to you about your music and your group members if the solo game wasn’t the the thing for you. “Ah, yeah, you know your friend, (group member name i literally can’t think of a name on the spot)?” He’d ask while trying his hardest not to freak out over the fact that he was talking to a celebrity, his idol, to be much more specific. “Yeah. What, do you like them? Wanna meet them someday?” You replied jokingly. He chortled at your statement, mainly because they weren’t the one he liked, but you were.
Tumblr media
woojin:
Super big throwback to his cover of BoA’s Only One, there would be low quality footage of Woojin dancing to your song jokingly. Once that circulated around, he’d be an embarrassed mess thinking about how you could’ve been watching the video at that moment. Spoiler alert: you were, and you thought it was absolutely adorable. You even reposted it with the caption “thank you, my fans, for such great content” or some shit and Woojin would be bawling his eyes out like, “I’ve won, but at what cost?” (uh jokes aside,,,) He would upload a proper dance cover and blow literally everyone away, including you. His smooth dancing and his ability to hit every move with precision made you question yourself on your dancing skills. (ok but i’m sure you’d be a great dancer <33) When you reposted that cover of his, he would bawl again, but this time, he shed some happy tears instead.
Tumblr media
jinyoung:
From the looks of his Kyulkyung fanboy days, Jinyoung seems like someone who’d defend their idols to a certain extent. If he encounters a troll among your Instagram feed, he’d definitely call them out with a bit of insult, and it’d be brought to your attention. He probably also runs a fan account where he posts photos of you and captions them with cheesy love quotes; not to the point where it’s Seongwoo or Jaehwan-level shit posting, but a regular fanpage that posts fan taken photos as well as performances on music shows and, sometimes, fancams. He’d be thrilled to hear that you and/or your group were coming to his town, but once someone brought it up, he’d act all shy and deny any notions of wanting to meet you. However, on his breaks, he’d go and see you in person, his heart beating quickly when he saw you - all while being the shy boy he was.
also, you’d probably be like, “aw, your head is so smoL I’M CRYIN” and he’d fall over tbh
Tumblr media
daehwi:
Daehwi would be the type of fan who would have a fanpage for you, much like his best friend Jinyoung. He’d be the main source of all the girlfriend/boyfriend!(y/n) aus because he honestly thinks that those are the absolute cutest, and he’d make them just as fluffy as possible while trying his best to be accurate at the same time. If you were in a group, he would make compilations of basically anything you were known for, whether it be your evil maknae schemes or your lovely singing parts. If he ever went to a fan sign, he’d be a smiling the mess the whole time once it was his turn to meet you. “Ah, I was so excited to meet you,” he would tell you, his natural overflowing aegyo making you feel all bubbly inside as you have a nice casual conversation with him. You probably ended your meeting with a hug from him as you told him, “come to our next fanmeet,” and he probably melted into a pile of gush inside.
Tumblr media
guanlin:
Guanlin would be the quiet yet ambitious fan of yours. Much like Minhyun, he wouldn’t shove his love for you in everyone’s faces, but he’d be much more obvious with those close to him. “(y/n)’s really soft in this performance? Jihoon hyung, look at how wonderful (y/n)’s rapping is. Seonho, look, (y/n)’s just as cute as you are.” Every once in a while, he’d go and binge watch your funny videos, giving himself a huge laugh (which may or may not scare his hyungs). Just like any other of his idols, Guanlin looks up to you greatly. You inspired him to do better at his own talents, and if you were to ever find out about this, you’d be amazed on how fast his improvement rate was. Needless to say, he had a little celebrity crush on you for a lot of reasons, from your lovely personality to your fans to your charismatic presence on stage.

What will Verizon do with Tumblr? Brian Feldman asks the right questions:
The future of Tumblr is still an open question. The site is enormously popular among the coveted youth crowd — that’s partly why then-CEO Marissa Mayer paid $1 billion for the property in 2013 — but despite a user base near the size of Instagram’s, Tumblr never quite figured out how to make money at the level Facebook has led managers and shareholders to expect. For a long time, its founder and CEO David Karp was publicly against the idea of inserting ads into users’ timelines. (Other experiments in monetization, like premium options, never caught on: It’s tough to generate revenue when your most active user base is too young to have a steady income.) Even once the timeline became open to advertising, it was tough to find clients willing to brave the sometimes-porny waters of the Tumblr Dashboard. Since it joined Yahoo, the site has started displaying low-quality “chum”-style ads in between user posts on the Dashboard. Looked at from a bottom-line perspective, Tumblr is an also-ran like its parent company — a once-hot start-up that has eased into tech-industry irrelevance.
Looked at from another angle, however, Tumblr is among the most important sites online — a central hub of what is nebulously known as “internet culture.” Most recently, the site gave us Dat Boi, the unicycling frog, but Tumblr’s most famous legacy is probably the reaction GIF, which was popularized by Tumblr accounts like What Should We Call Me. Tumblr’s reblog structure, which created lengthy, publicly shared conversations between strangers, also helped popularize the concept of the Discourse, the internetwide conversation happening all at once. It is also the primary meeting place for fandoms of shows like Doctor Who and Supernatural, and films like the Marvel movies — some of the most aggressive fandoms are cultivated on Tumblr.
It is rare, but not at all unprecedented, for a site to reach Tumblr’s size, prominence, and level of influence and still be unable to build a sustainable business. Twitter steers a huge portion of online culture, and has become an essential water cooler and newswire for journalists, tech workers, and otaku Nazis, but still has trouble turning a profit. Twitter itself shuttered its service Vine after just four years, even though the six-second-video social network had created more ubiquitous catchphrases and viral videos than any other social network over the same period. Reddit, the so-called “front page of the internet,” has been unable to fully capitalize on its enormous audience and influence, even after being purchased by Condé Nast (which it then spun out again; Condé Nast is very careful to specify that it does notown Reddit, though its parent company Advance Publications is a majority stakeholder). 4chan, whatever else you might think of it, is probably the most influential single website of the last decade, but its owner Hiroyuki Nishimura has said he is likely to shut it down. Even YouTube, which is synonymous with online video, still has trouble with profitability. As late as last October, CEO Susan Wojcicki was saying that the site was still in “investment mode” and that there was “no timetable” for profitability.
[...]
(One of the great ironies of Twitter’s and Tumblr’s inability to make sustained profits is that Instagram and Facebook are both full of videos and posts screenshotted and stolen from their more productive, less wealthy rival platforms.)
But the truth is that running a platform for culture creation is, increasingly, a charity operation undertaken by larger companies. Servers are expensive, and advertisers would rather just throw money at Facebook than take a chance on your weird, problematic network. Generating and incubating internet culture has little market value in and of itself.
Which means Tumblr has to hope for patience and kindness from Verizon while it seeks a way to make money. It’s not an impossible task (though Verizon’s hope that Yahoo will be the content arm of a major advertising operation is not promising for the company). There are signs that the internet-culture machines are finding ways to make themselves sustainable: YouTube is not shutting down anytime soon, but pre-roll ads weren’t doing the job, and now it has a premium subscription service in order to collect revenue directly from users. The next hubs of internet culture will learn from the mistakes of the past decade, hopefully by doing one of two things: developing a way to collect revenue directly from its audience, like Twitch or Patreon allow now, or by eschewing the notion of a sustainable business at all. It can be easy, in the era of just a handful of megaplatforms, to forget that the internet used to be a much more decentralized place, where things went viral across disparate platforms and websites and forum threads, rather than within a single one.
All of this is running in parallel to a larger internet movement away from public spaces: group messaging, private forums, and chat rooms, ephemerality. The overall stumbles of building centralized hubs of internet culture mean that, going forward, content might soon be consumed not by one large audience on a single platform, but by thousands of smaller audiences across a variety of online spaces.
I’m betting that relatively quickly Verizon’s ‘ominously-named’ Oath group will either fuck up Tumblr in an attempt to wring advertising from it in some stupid way, or will spin it out.
The obvious way to make money from Tumblr has never actually been tried, and the company screwed up the most promising platform which was the way that tags used to work.
In a nutshell, imagine if the tag ‘college applications’ was sponsored by the US News and World Report’s annual survey on colleges, or ‘Football’ was sponsored by ESPN. They could tart up the tag page, and create all sorts of useful stats. Tumblr just has to figure out how to keep porn off the tag pages for non-porn subjects.
We’ll see.

Tumblr’s Unclear Future Shows That There’s No Money in Internet Culture
See on Scoop.it - Knowmads, Infocology of the future
Tumblr media
Earlier this month, Verizon completed its acquisition of Yahoo, incorporating the internet-portal pioneer’s slate of brands under a new umbrella corporation named, ominously, Oath. Among those Yahoo brands is the website Tumblr, a blog-based social network that you either know well to the point of obsession, or find completely incomprehensible. As Verizon completed its acquisition, a number of Tumblr employees, as well as those at other Verizon-owned properties, like the Huffington Post, were laid off. Fleksy’s AI keyboard is getting a store to put mini apps at chatters’ fingertips
New Post has been published on http://www.readersforum.tk/fleksys-ai-keyboard-is-getting-a-store-to-put-mini-apps-at-chatters-fingertips/
Fleksy’s AI keyboard is getting a store to put mini apps at chatters’ fingertips
Remember Fleksy? The customizable Android keyboard app has a new trick up its sleeve: It’s adding a store where users can find and add lightweight third party apps to enhance their typing experience.
Right now it’s launched a taster, preloading a selection of ‘mini apps’ into the keyboard — some from very familiar brand names, some a little less so — so users can start to see how it works.
The first in-keyboard apps are Yelp (local services search); Skyscanner (flight search); Giphy (animated Gif search); GifNote (music Gifs; launching for U.S. users only for rights reasons); Vlipsy (reaction video clips); and Emogi (stickers) — with “many more” branded apps slated as coming in the next few months.
They’re not saying exactly what other brands are coming but there are plenty of familiar logos to be spotted in their press materials — from Spotify to Uber to JustEat to Tripadvisor to PayPal and more…
The full keyboard store itself — which will let users find and add and/or delete apps — will be launching at the end of this month.
The latest version of the Fleksy app can be downloaded for free via the Play Store.
Mini apps made for messaging
The core idea for these mini apps (aka Fleksyapps) is to offer lightweight additions designed to serve the messaging use case.
Say, for example, you’re chatting about where to eat and a friend suggests sushi. The Yelp Fleksyapp might pop up a contextual suggestion for a nearby Japanese restaurant that can be shared directly into the conversation — thereby saving time by doing away with the need for someone to cut out of the chat, switch apps, find some relevant info and cut and paste it back into the chat.
Fleksyapps are intended to be helpful shortcuts that keep the conversation flowing. They also of course put brands back into the conversation.
“We couldn’t be more excited to bring the power of the world’s popular songs with GIFs, videos and photos to the new Fleksyapps platform,” says Gifnote co-founder, John vanSuchtelen, in a supporting statement.
Fleksy’s mini apps appear above the Qwerty keyboard — in much the same space as a next-word prediction. The user can scroll through the app stack (each a tiny branded circle until tapped on to expand) and choose one to interact with. It’s similar to the micro apps lodged in Apple’s iMessage but on Android where iMessage isn’t… The team also plans for Fleksy to support a much wider range of branded apps — hence the Fleksyapps store.
In-keyboard apps is not a new concept for the dev team behind Fleksy; an earlier keyboard app of theirs (called ThingThing) offered micro apps they built themselves as a tool to extend its utility.
But now they’re hoping to garner backing and buy in from third party brands excited about the exposure and reach they could gain by being where users spend the most device time: The keyboard.
“Think of it a bit like the iMessage equivalent but on Android across any app. Or the WeChat mini program but inside the keyboard, available everywhere — not only in one app,” CEO Olivier Plante tells TechCrunch. “That’s a problem of messaging apps these days. All of them are verticals but the keyboard is horizontal. So that’s the benefit for those brands. And the user will have the ability to move them around, add some, to remove some, to explore, to discover.”
“The brands that want to join our platform they have the option of being preloaded by default. The analogy is that by default on the home screen of a phone you are by default in our keyboard. And moving forward you’ll be able to have a membership — you’re becoming a ‘brand member’ of the Fleksyapps platform, and you can have your brand inside the keyboard,” he adds.
The first clutch of Fleksyapps were developed jointly, with the team working with the brands in question. But Plante says they’re planning to launch a tool in future so brands will be able to put together their own apps — in as little as just a few hours.
“We’re opening this array of functionalities and there’s a lot of verticals possible,” he continues. “In the future months we will embed new capabilities for the platform — new type of apps. You can think about professional apps, or cloud apps. Accessing your files from different types of clouds. You have the weather vertical. You have ecommerce vertical. You have so many verticals.
“What you have on the app store today will be reflected into the Fleksyappstore. But really with the focus of messaging and being useful in messaging. So it’s not the full app that we want to bring in — it’s really the core functionality of this app.”
The Yelp Fleksyapp, for example, only includes the ability to see nearby places and search for and share places. So it’s intentionally stripped down. “The core benefit for the brand is it gives them the ability to extend their reach,” says Plante. “We don’t want to compete with the app, per se, we just want to bring these types of app providers inside the messenger on Android across any app.”
On the user side, the main advantage he touts is “it’s really, really fast — fleshing that out to: “It’s very lightweight, it’s very, very fast and we want to become the fastest access to content across any app.”
youtube
Users of Fleksyapps don’t need to have the full app installed because the keyboard plugs directly into the API of each branded service. So they get core functionality in bite-sized form without a requirement to download the full app. (Of course they can if they wish.)
So Plante also notes the approach has benefits vis-a-vis data consumption — which could be an advantage in emerging markets where smartphone users’ choices may be hard-ruled by the costs of data and/or connectivity limits.
“For those types of users it gives them an ability to access content but in a very light way — where the app itself, loading the app, loading all the content inside the app can be megabits. In Fleksy you’re talking about kilobits,” he says.
Privacy-sensitive next app suggestions
While baking a bunch of third party apps into a keyboard might sound like a privacy nightmare, the dev team behind Fleksy have been careful to make sure users remain in control.
To wit: Also on board is an AI keyboard assistant (called Fleksynext) — aka “a neural deep learning engine” — which Plante says can detect the context, intention and sentiment of conversations in order to offer “very useful” app suggestions as the chat flows.
The idea is the AI supports the substance of the chat by offering useful functionality from whatever pick and mix of apps are available. Plante refers to these AI-powered ‘next app’ suggestions as “pops”.
And — crucially, from a privacy point of view — the Fleksynext suggestion engine operates locally, on device.
That means no conversation data is sent out of the keyboard. Indeed, Plante says nothing the user types in the keyboard itself is shared with brands (including suggestions that pop up but get ignored). So there’s no risk — as with some other keyboard apps — of users being continually strip-mined for personal data to profile them as they type.
That said, if the user chooses to interact with a Fleksyapp (or its suggestive pop) they are then interacting with a third party’s API. So the usual tracking caveats apply.
“We interact with the web so there’s tracking everywhere,” admits Plante. “But, per se, there’s not specific sensitive data that is shared suddenly with someone. It is not related with the service itself — with the Fleksy app.”
The key point is that the keyboard user gets to choose which apps they want to use and which they don’t. So they can choose which third parties they want to share their plans and intentions with and which they don’t.
“We’re not interesting in making this an advertising platform where the advertiser decides everything,” emphasizes Plante. “We want this to be really close to the user. So the user decides. My intentions. My sentiment. What I type decides. And that is really our goal. The user is able to power it. He can tap on the suggestion or ignore it. And then if he taps on it it’s a very good quality conversion because the user really wants to access restaurants nearby or explore flights for escaping his daily routine… or transfer money. That could be another use-case for instance.”
They won’t be selling brands a guaranteed number of conversions, either.
That’s clearly very important because — to win over users — Fleksynext suggestions will need to feel telepathically useful, rather than irritating, misfired nag. Though the risk of that seems low given how Fleksy users can customize the keyboard apps to only see stuff that’s useful to them.
“In a sense we’re starting reshape a bit how advertising is seen by putting the user in the center,” suggests Plante. “And giving them a useful means of accessing content. This is the original vision and we’ve been very loyal to that — and we think it can reshape the landscape.”
“When you look into five years from now, the smartphone we have will be really, really powerful — so why process things in the cloud? When you can process things on the phone. That’s what we are betting on: Processing everything on the phone,” he adds.
When the full store launches users will be able to add and delete (any) apps — included preloads. So they will be in the driving seat. (We asked Plante to a confirm the user will be able to delete all apps, including any pre-loadeds and he said yes. So if you take him at his word Fleksy will not be cutting any deals with OEMs or carriers to indelibly preload certain Fleksyapps. Or, to put it another way, crapware baked into the keyboard is most definitely not plan.)
Depending on what other Fleksyapps launch in future a Fleksy keyboard user could choose to add, for example, a search service like DuckDuckGo or France’s Qwant to power a pro-privacy alternative to using Google search in the keyboard. Or they could choose Google.
Again the point is the choice is theirs.
Scaling a keyboard into a platform
The idea of keyboard-as-platform offers at least the possibility of reintroducing the choice and variety of smartphone app stores back before the cynical tricks of attention-harvesting tech giants used their network effects and platform power to throttle the app economy.
The Android keyboard space was also a fertile experiment ground in years past. But it’s now dominated by Google’s Gboard and Microsoft-acquired Swiftkey. Which makes Fleksy the plucky upstart gunning to scale an independent alternative that’s not owned by big tech and is open to any third party that wants to join its mini apps party.
“It will be Bing search for Swiftkey, it will be Google search for Gboard, it will be Google Music, it will be YouTube. But on our side we can have YouTube, we can also have… other services that exist for video. The same way with pictures and the same way for file-sharing and drive. So you have Google Drive but you have Dropbox, you have OneDrive, there’s a lot of services in the cloud. And we want to be the platform that has them all, basically,” says Plante.
The original founding team of the Fleksy keyboard was acqui-hired by Pinterest back in 2016, leaving the keyboard app itself to languish with minimal updates. Then two years ago Barcelona-based keyboard app maker, ThingThing, stepped in to take over development.
Plante confirms it’s since fully acquired the Fleksy keyboard technology itself — providing a solid foundation for the keyboard-as-platform business it’s now hoping to scale with the launch of Fleksyapps.
Talking of scale, he tells us the startup is in the process of raising a multi-million Series A — aiming to close this summer. (ThingThing last took in $800,000 via equity crowdfunding last fall.)
The team’s investor pitch is the keyboard offers perhaps the only viable conduit left on mobile to reset the playing field for brands by offering a route to cut through tech giant walled gardens and get where users are spending most of their time and attention: i.e. typing and sharing stuff with their friends in private one-to-one and group chats.
That means the keyboard-as-platform has the potential to get brands of all stripes back in front of users — by embedding innovative, entertaining and helpful bite-sized utility where it can prove its worth and amass social currency on the dominant messaging platforms people use.
The next step for the rebooted Fleksy team is of course building scale by acquiring users for a keyboard which, as of half a year ago, only had around 1M active users from pure downloads.
Its strategy on this front is to target Android device makers to preload Fleksy as the default keyboard.
ThingThing’s business model is a revenue share on any suggestions the keyboard converts, which it argues represent valuable leads for brands — given the level of contextual intention. It is also intending to charge brands that want to be preloaded on the Fleksy keyboard by default.
Again, though, a revenue share model requires substantial scale to work. Not least because brands will need to see evidence of scale to buy into the Fleksyapps’ vision.
Plante isn’t disclosing active users of the Fleksy keyboard right now. But says he’s confident they’re on track to hit 30M-35M active users this year — on account of around ten deals he says are in the pipeline with device makers to preload Fleksy’s keyboard. (Palm was an early example, as we reported last year.)
The carrot for OEMs to join the Fleksyapps party is they’re cutting them in on the revenue share from user interactions with branded keyboard apps — playing to device makers’ needs to find ways to boost famously tight hardware margins.
“The fact that the keyboard can monetize and provide value to the phone brands — this is really massive for them,” argues Plante. “The phone brands can expect revenue flowing in their bank account because we give the brands distribution and the handset manufacturer will make money and we will make money.”
It’s a smart approach, and one that’s essentially only possible because Google’s own Gboard keyboard doesn’t come preloaded on the majority of Android devices. (Exceptions include its own Pixel brand devices.) So — unusually for a core phone app on Android — there’s a bit of an open door where the keyboard sits, instead of the usual preloaded Google wares. And that’s an opportunity.
Markets wise, ThingThing is targeting OEMs in all global regions with its Fleksy pitch — barring China (which Plante readily admits it too complex for a small startup to sensibly try jumping at).
Apps vs tech giants
In its stamping ground of Europe there are warm regulatory winds blowing too: An European Commission antitrust intervention last year saw Google hit with a $5BN fine over anti-competitive practices attached to its Android platform — forcing the company to change local licensing terms.
That antirust decision means mobile makers finally have the chance to unbundle Google apps from devices they sell in the region.
Which translates into growing opportunities for OEMs to rethink their Android strategies. Even as Google remains under pressure not to get in the way by force feeding any more of its wares.
Really, a key component of this shift is that device makers are being told to think, to look around and see what else is out there. For the first time there looks to be a viable chance to profit off of Android without having to preload everything Google wants.
“For us it’s a super good sign,” says Plante of the Commission decision. “Every monopolistic situation is a problem. And the market needs to be fragmented. Because if not we’re just going to lose innovation. And right now Europe — and I see good progress for the US as well — are trying to dismantle the imposed power of those big guys. For the simple evolution of human being and technology and the future of us.”
“I think good things can happen,” he adds. “We’re in talks with handset manufacturers who are coming into Europe and they want to be the most respectful of the market. And with us they have this reassurance that you have a good partner that ensures there’s a revenue stream, there’s a business model behind it, there’s really a strong use-case for users.
“We can finally be where we always wanted to be: A choice, an alternative. But having Google imposing its way since start — and making sure that all the direct competition of Google is just a side, I think governments have now seen the problem. And we’re a winner of course because we’re a keyboard.”
But what about iOS? Plante says the team has plans to bring what they’re building with Fleksy to Apple’s mobile platform too, in time. But for now they’re fully focusing efforts on Android — to push for scale and execute on their vision of staking their claim to be the independent keyboard platform.
Apple has supported third party keyboards on iOS for years. Unfortunately, though, the experience isn’t great — with a flaky toggle to switch away from the default Apple keyboard, combined with heavy system warnings about the risks of using third party keyboards.
Meanwhile the default iOS keyboard ‘just works’ — and users have loads of extra features baked by default into Apple’s native messaging app, iMessage.
Clearly alternative keyboards have found it all but impossible to build any kind of scale in that iOS pincer.
“iOS is coming later because we need to focus on these distribution deals and we need to focus on the brands coming into the platform. And that’s why iOS right now we’re really focusing for later. What we can say is it will come later,” says Plante, adding: “Apple limits a lot keyboards. You can see it with other keyboard companies. It’s the same. The update cycle for iOS keyboard is really, really, really slow.”
Plus, of course, Fleksy being preloaded as a default keyboard on — the team hopes — millions of Android devices is a much more scalable proposition vs just being another downloadable app languishing invisibly on the side lines of another tech giant’s platform.
