"Th-that's right. I've heard a lot about you from her, s-so it's good to meet you." While they were a little discouraged by not being that much taller than an actual child, they were impressed when they were told about her capabilities despite her young age. It was impressive, and it made them want to learn more about her and her methods.
They take a seat next to her, giving her a friendly smile. "I'm Chihiro Fujisaki, I hope that the two of us can get along." If nothing else, they hoped that they would be able to help her get even better somehow.

😷We ship Chihiro and Toko together partly because it's funny and partly because both of their horrible bigoted ass depictions being introduced in the same chapter warrants them needing to unionize for hostile writing conditions

Someone posted about how chihiro posts most often are about their gender or being trans (the op hcs them as trans too) and I AGREED- there’s SO MUCH MORE to chihiro than discourse or gender and I talked about that, using they/them pronouns for them, but got blocked because I hc chihiro as cis :(

J.S Anon here again, you can probably tell what kind of Reader I want for this one. Anyways would I be able to request an NSFW one? Maybe Despair and Hope hating reader silently giving Chihiro a blowjob underneath the table and being walked in on if that's alright!
HI AGAIN! I had a lot of trouble working the Junko’s sister and hope/despair hate into this, but I think I got it! Also, he’s a little OOC so take that as you will.
As always, all characters are 18+.
Title: Take This Longing
Pairings: Chihiro Fujisaki x Reader
WARNINGS: yandere themes, NSFW, NON-CON ORAL (m. receiving)
“Oh take this longing from my tongue
Whatever useless things these hands have done
Let me see your beauty broken down
Like you would do
For one you love”
From “Take This Longing” by Leonard Cohen
You blankly watched the number on the elevator’s display screen change as each floor passed you by. The numbers blinked with the same red as the light on your ankle monitor.
Not everyone could forgive an Enoshima, after all.
The elevator stopped near the top floor of the highrise and the doors opened, revealing an office bathed in the soft glow of a hundred monitors, lining the walls and desks. There were bookshelves haphazardly placed against the windows that made up the back wall, all half-way filled with technical manuals.
At the center of a ring of monitors was Chihiro Fujisaki, whose eyes flitted between displays with an intensity that didn’t match his sweet-looking exterior. As a member of the Future Foundation, Chihiro had grown taller over the years and had begun wearing pants instead of skirts (embracing his masculine side).
As he looked up at you, his heart skipped a beat. You, the sister of Junko Enoshima and Mukuro Ikusaba, yet a person that loathed both despair and hope, always brought a smile to his face.
He stood, smoothing out the front of his lab coat. You were punctual, as always, on the dot of the hour you were summoned. He admired that about you. He took a deep breath to steady himself.
“You wanted to see me?” your voice was deadpan as always.
“Yes, thank you for coming,” Chihiro gestured to a chair opposite his desk, “Please, take a seat.”
“I’d rather not,” you said simply, crossing your arms.
Chihiro nodded, swallowing thickly, “Alright, well… I’ve been working on something. A project for hope. Of course, you already knew that…”
You didn’t respond, just stood there blankly staring at him, waiting for him to continue.
“It’s an AI, one that can learn and evolve beyond the programming constraints of binary thinking. It’s designed to understand and feel, without falling into the traps that…” he swallowed again, not wanting to bring up the past that had led to you becoming an unwilling member of the Future Foundation, “...well, you know.”
“And you’re telling me this because…?” you sounded wary.
Chihiro’s fingers twitched nervously, “Because, you can help me test it. With your rejection of both hope and despair, we can make sure the AI can run without biases if needed.”
You shrugged, “I’m not allowed to turn down anything you guys ask, but what do you even get out of this?”
Chihiro’s heart hammered in his chest, “I… I admire you,” he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper, “Everything about you.”
You gave him a disgusted look, “I’m not interested in any of you hope-filled tree-huggers. Fuck off with that mushy-gushy shit.”
Chihiro’s heart shattered into a million pieces and tears filled his eyes. He felt a surge of anger, “Why can’t you just like hope? It’s such a good thing, how can you hate it?”
You shrugged again and turned away, “If that’s all, then I’ll take my leave.”
Chihiro suddenly had a thought. One that was awful, terrible, and so tempting.
“Suck me off,” he said, voice trembling. He couldn’t believe something so inappropriate had left his mouth. It had only ever done so in daydreams of the two of you together.
Where you were a willing participant.
You clearly couldn’t believe it either, “The hell’d you say?”
“Suck me off,” Chihiro demanded, voice stronger and clearer this time, “You can’t refuse a direct order from one of us, can you?”
“I’m- I’m not a sex toy!” you snapped, blood running to your cheeks. Despite your protest, you reluctantly got on your knees and crawled under his desk. He could hardly believe it when shaking hands unbuttoned and unzipped his pants, pulling his painfully hard cock out of his trousers.
It was bigger than you expected for such a delicate-looking man, and it was threatening-looking, with a pulsating vein down the side and pre beading at the tip. You hesitated for a moment, looking up at Chihiro’s face. He was staring down at you with a mix of desire and embarrassment, biting his lip as he watched you.
You took a deep breath and leaned forward, tentatively wrapping your lips around the head of his cock. It was warm and spongy, and very, very salty. You moved your head forward, taking as much of his impressively-sized member into your mouth as possible.
Chihiro let out a high-pitched moan as you started to move your head up and down, swirling your tongue around the tip of his cock. He grew harder and heavier in your mouth, his hips starting to thrust forward slightly as he lost himself in the sensation.
He thrust a little too hard and you gagged, pulling off the cock with a whine of pain. “Sorry, sweetheart,” he gasped, carding his hand through your hair, “I’ll be more careful- please keep going!”
You took him back into your mouth, sucking harder and beginning to bob your head up and down. Your hands reached up to cup his balls, gently massaging them as you continued to work his cock.
Chihiro let out a strangled moan as he felt the familiar tightness building in his groin. He couldn’t believe how good it felt. He felt like he’d died and gone to heaven, because having you on your knees for him, sucking his throbbing cock, was better than any fantasy he could have conjured up in that moment..
With one final thrust forward, he exploded into your mouth, cock pulsating as he filled it with his release. You swallowed it down, but the sheer volume of it spilled over onto your lips, leaving you looking more debauched than ever.
At that moment, the elevator doors opened, and Byakuya stepped into the room. “Fujisaki, I need those-” he stopped, absolutely horrified by the sight he was seeing.
Chihiro was sure he looked red-faced, with his spent cock hanging out of his pants and you, under his desk, white cum dripping down your chin.
“Disgusting,” Byakuya shuddered, shaking his head as he walked straight back into the elevator.
You looked borderline tearful until Chihiro placed his hand back in your hair, letting out a contented sigh, “You’re perfect, you know that?”
You stared at him blankly, as though you couldn’t believe what you had done, all emotion driven out of you.
Chihiro couldn’t wait until you did it again for him.
Maybe next time, he’d make you go all the way.

Chapter 12
UH OH
SEE HERE FOR GENERAL WARNINGS AND FIC SUMMARY
Some pre-chapter notes:
trying to move away from writing toko like chunsoft and adding more to her character (she's traumatized she wants to be loved but she's going about it in the worst way) but in the end none of her actions are condoned. she's fucked up still sorry but written in a more sympathetic light i hope?
syo WILL be in this fic but i do my best to make her hand-wavy explanation ambiguous (fuck whatever canon says about 'textbook split personality' btw)
@moonlighttogami and @tokiwigiwi :)
Content warning tags: implication of stalking/blackmail, Toko-expected creepiness, use of violence, character death
< previous - from start - next >
He’s not sure how much time passes when the door opens again.
“Finally,” He huffs, not bothering to turn. “Took you long enough. Honestly, how long does it take-”
He halts, as the intruder steps into the room, and quickly clicks his handbook shut. These weren’t Makoto’s footsteps. And - he surreptitiously covers his nose - that wasn’t Makoto’s smell. But he knows whose it was.
“...Toko. What do you want.” He turns and glares at the girl who has intruded on his space. She fidgets where she stands, a thin shadow of dark purple. The smell of her has grown stronger over the past few weeks, and hangs around her like a miasma.
“M-master Byakuya…”
He feels a full-bodied shiver of disgust run over his skin. “Don’t call me that.”
She ignores him, and carries on. “A-about last night…”
Right. To be completely honest, he was hoping that he had scared her enough the night before to make her leave him alone entirely. But he’s not surprised either; if she had the nerve to blatantly try and look at his secret, it wasn’t surprising that she had the boldness to try and confront him like this.
“What about last night.” He says stiffly, and she jumps as if shocked.
“I-I know about your eyes!” She blurts at last. “A-and, I know Ch-Chihiro knows it too…I, I heard you t-talking about it i-in the b-bathhouse last night…”
He feels his lip curling, revolted. Of course she had eavesdropped; she was quickly proving to be one of the more annoying stalkers he’d ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The number of people who were aware of his condition was also rapidly increasing against his will. At this point he might as well do the same as Fujisaki and announce it out loud.
Fukawa continues in her irritating stutter. “A-and…y-your envelope…” He freezes immediately, suddenly latching on to her every word.
“What did it say?” He demands, and she flinches - shivers? - arms crossing over her torso.
“I-if I t-tell you, y-you won’t w-want anything to d-do with m-me anymore…” She mutters, seemingly to herself, and he feels another wave of revulsion roll over him.
“Out with it. I already want nothing to do with you, but if you don’t speak up now-”
What will he do? He tries to come up with a threat that can hold actual weight, but they all sound pathetic, even to himself. If only Makoto were here, he could at least get him to chase her away…how long does it take to talk to three people, anyways?
Ironically, it’s Fukawa who saves him from having to think of something. “I-I know you’re r-really mad at m-me for r-reading your secret last night,” She continues, and she’s swaying slightly, as if drunk. “U-um, I-I promise n-not to t-tell anyone! About your eyes, o-or your envelope…a-and, I’ll t-tell you mine, t-too.”
“I’m not interested.” He says flatly. “Tell me what was written in my envelope. Now.”
She shakes her head instead. “I-I know th-there’s no way for you t-to have r-read yours yet, right? S-so only I know!” The light catches on her spectacles, and it gives the illusion of two, illuminated orbs on her face. “W-which makes me m-more special than M-Makoto, or Chihiro, right?”
She sounds deranged. Her voice is pitched with desperation, and she’s breathing heavily. She takes a step closer. “I-I know all your s-secrets, and once y-you know mine…s-so you can r-rely on me, m-more than Makoto, o-or Chihiro?” Another step, and the floorboard creaks. “I-I’ll do better than th-them! And, and I can accept you f-for all your secrets, s-so, you don’t n-need them, I promise!”
“Stay back.” He snaps, shifting backwards. The revulsion was curdling, mixing with fear, and crawling down his back like something physical, like the vile, unwanted sensation of fingernails, tickling over his skin. He hates this irrational panic - she was just a girl, and a pathetic one at that - but here he was, shying away anyways, unable to discern her next move, her intentions. “I’m warning you-”
She lurches forward, and he takes an inadvertent step back. His back meets the bookshelf; he was trapped. “S-so don’t get scared,” She says, though these words really only have the opposite effect on him. “D-do you remember the news, a few y-years back? A-about Genocider S-Syo?”
Genocider Syo? The name sounds familiar, but it takes him a moment to place where he’s heard it before. It was a few years before he enrolled at Hope’s Peak, while in transit to some social gathering or another; Pennyworth had left the car radio tuned to the local news.
“The serial killer?” He asks aloud, as he subtly searches the shelves behind him, trying to find something to use as a weapon. The tip of his index finger catches on the spine of a large, plastic-bound copy of some textbook or another, and he leverages it slowly out of the shelf, feeling sweat beginning to slicken its cover.
She nods eagerly, her braids bouncing. “I-I knew you’d kn-know about it,” She sounds relieved, somehow, voice breathless. “Y-you know, th-the first place Syo turned up was the town w-where I was b-born…i-it was my f-first crush that was the f-first victim, y’know?”
It clicks together quickly for him. The radio announcer had described bloody and ugly scenes of murder, the displayed corpses of young men and boys, all attributed to a mysterious killer with a penchant for stabbing their victims. And now standing before him was a clearly-deranged, unwell girl, well-known for her romance novels, and apparently obsessed with him.
“I-it’s okay!” She says hurriedly, as he presses himself closer to the shelf. “Sh-she only c-comes out when I-I’m really t-tired, o-or if I see b-blood…b-but, I c-can control her! I am controlling her, I promise!” She steps forward again, and this close, he can see the sickly flush on her face, the shine of sweat - tears? - down her cheeks. “I’ve b-been working s-so hard, s-so she won’t h-hurt anyone again…so it’s o-okay! I c-can be good! See?” She hiccups slightly, she must be crying. He can’t imagine why. “S-so now we can be equal, r-right?!”
She staggers towards him again, and he reacts before he can even think twice about it, yanking the book from its shelf and swinging blindly. The edge catches her across the face, whipping it sharply to the side with a sickly crack and a squeal - there’s a crest of blood, splattering up the length of the book, he can feel a few warm drops splash his hand, the skin crawling where it landed - and she crashes against the shelves with a shriek, stumbling.
“Why?!” She wails, hands shooting to her face. She sounds genuinely distraught, and she shakes as she scrubs at her nose with her palms. “I-I told you m-my biggest secret, a-and I kn-know yours…w-why won’t you tr-trust me?!”
“Trust you?!” He laughs, mirthless and a little frenzied, pitched wildly with his thudding heart. “You repulse me.” He steps forward now, book still clutched in his shaking hand. “Why would I ever trust a murderer in a killing game?”
She flinches as if his words were more physical blows, stumbling away from him and knocking against the shelf. A few books rain down, thudding open on the floor. “I-It’s not me,” She babbles, clutching at her head. “S-Syo - she’s j-just s-someone else, she’s in m-me, b-but I can c-control her, I p-promise - sh-she’s not me, she’s not me, she’s not!”
It sounds vaguely like some dramatized description of a split personality, though Byakuya had never heard of any such disorder that matched Fukawa’s apparently extreme case. Whatever the girl had going on would probably warrant its own DSM volume, but he wasn’t particularly interested in that. “I don’t care if she’s a ghost that’s possessing you or a secret twin taking your place. I want nothing to do with either of you.”
“B-but-”
“Get out.” He snarls, chest heaving. “If I hear anything - anything - on my condition, I will make you wish you were dead.” She doesn’t move, and he feels his teeth clench enough to creak. “I said, OUT.”
She darts, stumbling and stepping through one of the piles of boxes on the floor, completely breaking through the lid. Whatever was inside it stays looped around her ankle as she kicks the lid off, and clicks against the floor as she sprints away, her sobs fading as she goes.
___
For safety, he blocks off the door to the library with the chair, jamming it beneath the handles.
Then, he waits for Makoto, pacing, agitated. Really, how long could it take to accompany one person to talk to three people? His clock in his handbook stated that hardly an hour had passed since Makoto first left, and ten minutes since he sent Fukawa away. Surely, he had to be coming back eventually?
Not that there was anything keeping Byakuya in the library, other than his own uncertainty regarding his safety. Considering that he knew Fukawa’s alternate identity, and her apparent infatuation with him, it would be foolish to make the trek back to his room alone.
He stops pacing, frustration and restlessness boiling over. And returns to the files, shuffling through them, handbook held aloft to read the names printed on the edge of each folder, ignoring the ones that clatter to the ground after he shoves them haphazardly back. Finally, he comes across the one he's looking for, and slides it out of the shelf.
The front of it is stamped with the title in silver: ‘The Murder Cases of Genocider Syo: Top Secret’. He flips it open.
The text is interspersed with images of the victims before and after their unfortunate encounters with Fukawa. He can’t make much out about them, other than the fact that all the murder scenes seemed similar enough; photos of pale bodies, stretched out as if crucified, splattered with blood. Their faces, which must have been twisted with agony, are merely dark smudges.
“...As with the other cases, at the scene of the crime the word ‘BLOODLUST’ was written with the victim’s blood,” Alter Ego reads aloud. “The scissors used in the murder were apparently custom-made, with every pair left at each murder scene seeming to be of the same material and construction…”
How vile. He flips through the pages (one of which is annoyingly wrinkled, and furthermore, smudged with dirt), reading through the victim's descriptions. There was a sort of morbid curiosity that drew him to read further, even as his stomach turned with the knowledge that he could end up like one of these men; pinned like a butterfly for the killer to admire and laud over.
He snaps the file shut at last, feeling nauseous, and sinks down with his back against the shelf, suddenly exhausted - the adrenaline from Fukawa’s confrontation is gone, leaving behind a bone-deep fatigue. Sluggishly, he categorizes what he knows:
One: Fukawa was also Genocider Syo, a notorious serial killer who targeted young men.
Two: Fukawa both knew he was blind, and the contents of his envelope. He reaches into his pocket and feels for it, the paper now crinkled and warped. He still can’t bring himself to try and use Alter Ego to read its contents, but so long as Fukawa knew…there was little he could do about it.
That brought him to three: Fukawa was apparently obsessed with him. That was clear from the start, but he underestimated how dangerous her infatuation was. What she wanted from him was, apparently, some kind of romanticized relationship, if her mutterings about mutually sharing secrets and calling him ‘master’ was anything to go by, but nothing that could possibly be built on equal footing. Not if she was trying to leverage the envelope’s contents and his blindness against him.
He pauses at that. Did Fukawa know he was capable of using Alter Ego through his handbook to read? If she did, then there was no point in her trying to hold it over him. But then that meant she might try to manipulate him in other ways, the most simplest being blackmail. For that, he’d need to silence her…
And to do that, I would need to kill.
He drums his fingers against the hardwood floor. It’d be hard, but he could do it. She was already fixated on him, it should be easy enough to lure her somewhere and take care of her, either with a blunt-force weapon or strangulation - stabbing was too messy with the blood splatter - but the real difficulty then was how to conceal his tracks.
He thinks for a moment of Maizono, and how she had swapped rooms with Makoto solely for this intention. He thought her foolish then, but in hindsight, it really was an impressive display of quick thinking…though, it wasn’t one that he could copy.
What if he did it in a shared space? In one of the empty classrooms? People hardly went into these rooms, and it’d be harder to pin down the culprit. But he’d have to be fast about it, and careful; anyone who sees him or Fukawa entering that space, or leaving it, could easily identify him as the suspect. It’d have to happen at night.
But, she’s also smarter than she looks… He rubs at his temples now, frowning. She might see the similarities between this and Maizono’s attempt, and realize it’s a trap. I can’t risk that. It’d be easier if I could easily pin it on someone, but the amount of people who might be stupid or willing enough to let themselves be used…
The list was very short. Makoto, who was already a non-option. Yamada, who was too closely allied with Celeste to be trusted. Hagakure, who was too paranoid to be easily led into anything anyways...
And Chihiro.
He’s suddenly struck with the realization that if he succeeds, the others die. It would not be just one person’s blood on his hands, it would be multiple, including those he chooses not to directly involve. He hesitates, for an instant - and then lowers his hands slowly, a sense of defeat settling over him.
He’s already failed before he even started. This game could only have one winner, and if he could not fully commit himself to that role and accept the consequences of it, then he was never a real competitor to begin with. Circles within circles. He was back to the start.
Frustration isn’t something he’s unfamiliar with, but it’s been a long time since he’s felt so overwhelmed with it, as he tilts his head back, knocking it against the shelf as he stares blankly at the brown fog of the ceiling. And then slams a fist against the floor, hissing venomous, ugly curses under his breath. If only he had his eyes, again - he wouldn’t need to be so concerned with such things, wouldn’t need to waver - and yet.
Where the hell is Makoto? He thinks numbly, exhausted with it all. He was sick of being left with nothing but his nerves, and how long did it take to talk to just three people anyways?
Thump, thump, thump.
A rhythmic banging snaps him out of his thoughts. For a moment, he thinks it’s coming from the door, and clumsily pushes himself up, while fumbling for something, anything, to use as a weapon - his hands find the hard, stiff cover of a case file, still on the floor - and stares down the door, waiting for someone to break through it-
But nothing. The chair that’s stuck under the doorknob hasn’t even budged, from what he can tell. The banging continues, and he realizes it sounds more like hammering than knocking. It wasn’t even against the library door.
Construction? Hagakure did mention hearing construction sounds earlier. Was Monokuma building something again?
The sound ends, replaced by footsteps approaching his door. He tenses, taking a step back, but a moment later, the footsteps patter down the hall and away, fading out of earshot.
He stays where he is for a long moment, caught between terror and curiosity. Curiosity wins out, and he steps slowly to the door, hesitating once more with one hand on the chair.
But before he can even do anything, the air is pierced by a blood-curdling scream, and he throws the chair away, yanking the door open-
Only to be met with the sight of Chihiro Fujisaki’s corpse.

"Hm...I wonder if for Halloween I should hack into the school's computers a little...nothing too scary, but a little shocking..."
Seems the little programmer is lost in their own little world as they try to figure out what would be a good idea for a Halloween prank.

Can you do a thirst with a dom chihiro fujisaki and a sub male s/o?
Tumblr media
“Heheheh, you look so cute under me~”
Your eyes, blurry with tears, looked up at Chihiro as he straddled your hips. But, you could feel them subconsciously rolling into the back of your head as he rubbed his ass against your dick.
“Mmm~ your still so hard, even after my teasing.”
You let out a whine as you felt him speed up, grinding even harder. The pain and pleasure pulsed through your veins, clouding your mind. You could barely speak coherently or even think at all.
Your shaky hands gripped onto his thighs, desperately rutting against him. Fuck, if only he didn’t tease you all day! You still felt so pent up.
“Heheh! You’re so desperate~ here, I’ll give you something better.”
Just as your crunched up eyes blinked open, you felt your dick poke against something warm and wet.
“Ch-chihi- Ackkk!~”
Without a single warning, Chihiro slammed his body down on your cock, enveloping your body in another shot of euphoria. And what made it worst is he just kept going. Up and down. Over and over. It was way too fast for you!
“P-ple- ahh!!~ please, so-slow- agh! Down!!~”
“Aww, really? You know how long I’ve been waiting to be filled by you? It’s not fair. I think I’m just going to ride you until I’m satisfied, okay?”

the chihiro fujisaki gender debate and transandrophobia
i saw another user post about their experience with transandrophobia in relation to headcanons of fictional characters and chihiro came up, so while it isn't the most important discussion point of transandrophobia i thought it could be interesting and useful to show how lateral aggression in the trans community often spills over to other communities which are barely trans related at all.
i will be using they/them pronouns for chihiro in this post since, as becomes clear later, there is no one single correct pronoun for them, so i am trying to keep it as neutral as possible.
this is also a long post, so for the sake of casual scrollers i'll get into it under the cut. i've also added bolding in places, mostly for easier reading for neurodivergent people rather than emphasis.
who is chihiro fujisaki?
spoilers for danganronpa: trigger happy havoc ch 2.
for those who aren't a part of the fandom, chihiro fujisaki is a character from the first game of the danganronpa series, a visual novel game series in which high schoolers are locked in a school and forced to murder one another in order to escape.
for the first part of the game, chihiro is referred to solely with she/her pronouns, because they present femininely and other characters assume them to be a girl. however, in the second chapter they are murdered and during their trial it is revealed that they were, quote unquote, "actually" a boy the whole time. it is said in the game (from secondary sources) that chihiro was bullied for being "weak" as a boy, so they decided to begin presenting as a girl to escape the bullying. however, as their secret was about to be revealed due to a plan of the organiser of the killing game, they decided that they would no longer accept their weakness, and went to the person they perceived as strongest and most "masculine" for help, mondo oowada. however, mondo was insecure in his own masculinity, and despite possessing physical strength held many regrets and feelings of weakness on the inside. chihiro's willingness to change and strength in that respect, in reaction to the idea of an awful secret of theirs being outed, scared mondo, as he was incredibly ashamed of his and reacted with fear to the idea. in a fit of retaliatory anger, he killed chihiro.
-----------------------------
okay, so what's the controversy here?
as chihiro died, and their secret was only revealed to their classmates posthumously, chihiro's canon gender is unknown. many transfems have claimed that chihiro was written solely as a transmisogynistic trope, so cannot be headcanoned as anything other than transfeminine, as this is a "reclaimation" of that trope. however, another portion of the fandom perceived chihiro as simply a cis male crossdresser, and have argued against saying they can only be called transfeminine. another, smaller portion of the fandom headcanons chihiro as transmasculine, along with others who see them as transneutral (nonbinary, agender, genderfluid, etc).
let's break these viewpoints down.
(for the sake of relevancy, i will be omitting the view of people who believe chihiro to be nonbinary in this post solely because they are rarely involved in the discourse. indeed, many people who do not want to be involved at all choose this viewpoint as it is rarely contested and is seen by all sides as a sort of middle ground, so one can escape harassment for their headcanons in this way. yes, there's harassment.)
-----------------------------
the cis male crossdresser theory
how the story goes according to this theory:
exactly as told above. chihiro was a cis crossdresser who presented femininely because they did not want to face their own perceived "weakness." the information given during the trial was accurate and chihiro was correctly gendered.
reasons for this theory:
can be perceived as a commentary on the effect of toxic masculinity and strict gender roles (this includes mondo's reaction
can be a comfort to gender-non-conforming people as well as a commentary on their lack of acceptance in general society
is what i personally think that the danganronpa writers were attempting to show as a message in the first place, a pertinent issue in japan (see "why isn't chihiro's character inherently transmisogynistic?")
-----------------------------
the transfeminine theory
how the story goes according to this theory:
chihiro fujisaki was a transfeminine person. they discovered this before the game and began presenting in a manner which made them feel happier. however, when there was a threat of them being outed as trans to their classmates, they went to see mondo. the next part can be perceived either as them wishing to detransition as a way to "improve" (yikes), or them telling mondo that they wanted to live their authentic self when the secrets were revealed, perhaps hoping for support and/or protection after explaining their gender. mondo reacted unfavourably which resulted in chihiro's death. during the trial chihiro was repeatedly misgendered after their "true gender" was revealed.
reasons for this theory:
can be a comfort to transfeminine people to know chihiro is like them, despite bad writing
can feel upset about chihiro's writing which they perceived as transphobic and therefore want to reclaim the character in a positive manner
chihiro's experiences can be highly relatable to transfeminine people (eg. fear of being outed, being bullied for living authentically, etc)
-----------------------------
the transmasculine theory
how the story goes according to this theory:
chihiro fujisaki was a transmasculine person who was presenting in a way that made them feel comfortable. however, they experienced bullying which meant they had to detransition. they were uncomfortable presenting this femininely but felt they had to because they could not find acceptance as a boy. however, when there was a threat of them being outed as trans to their classmates, they feared the previous ridicule and went to see mondo for help on how they could present more masculinely and be more true to themself. mondo reacted unfavourably which resulted in chihiro's death. during the trial chihiro was referred to using masculine (their assumed preferred) pronouns once it was revealed they were a boy.
reasons for this theory:
can be a comfort to transmasculine people to know chihiro is like them, despite bad writing
can act as a commentary on toxic masculinity and strict gender roles, in a similar manner to the cis crossdresser theory
chihiro's experiences can be highly relatable to transmasculine people (fear of being outed, being bullied for living authentically, detransitioning, etc)
-----------------------------
where does transandrophobia come into this?
since transfems have claimed chihiro's character was written to be a transmisogynistic trope, anyone who thinks of them as anything other than transfeminine (+ nonbinary, due to the fact that nonbinary people CAN be transfeminine) is immediately shouted down. this includes believers of the cis male crossdresser theory, but also notably includes transmascs who saw themselves in chihiro. some of the ones i've been told while headcanoning chihiro as transmasc include "it's incredibly disrespectful to think of chihiro as afab at all," "headcanoning them as anything but transfeminine is transmisogynistic" "sit down and stop talking over transfems" "typical transmascs making everything about them."
as usual in the transandrophobia debate, a pretty large proportion of the people telling me this were "tmes." and that's where i got my very first taste of transandrophobia, where i wasn't allowed to relate to a character i liked, i wasn't allowed to think they were like me, because i "had enough representation" and "shouldn't be taking things away from transfems."
i'd understand this if the writer had straight out said chihiro's transfem. the thing is... chihiro doesn't have a canon gender. hell, they don't even have a canon agab.
"but there was that weird bit with kyoko where she felt their, uh, genitals when they were dead to discover their "true gender" !!" well, unless kyoko decided to be even more invasive about it (god was that bit intensely uncomfortable as a trans person in the first place), well... packers exist. it's entirely possible they could have been wearing one to make themself a tiny bit more comfortable.
but honestly ?? at the end of the day, all of this is speculation. all the information we received about chihiro was after their death, so they never had the chance to talk about their gender themself. and speculation is fine !! but attacking people based on it ?? yikes. (for anyone bringing up the new dr game, that isn't canon because... all the characters are meeting including dead ones and they're all at the beach. it's an extended beach episode.)
-----------------------------
why isn't chihiro's character inherently transmisogynistic?
let's talk what i think danganronpa was trying to do with chihiro. with evidence.
japanese culture and its influence
(i am not japanese and do not live in japan, japanese people please correct me if i have made any mistakes. /srs)
danganronpa was made by a japanese company, for japanese people. so of course it's influenced by japanese cultural norms. japan isn't a particularly progressive country in terms of lgbtq+ acceptance. gay marriage is still illegal, there isn't much representation for lgbtq+ people in general, and most importantly, there are strict gender roles which, if not conformed to by someone, can quickly lead to the bullying and casting out of that person.
while chihiro's story may seem confusing to western viewers, for this reason it is far more relevant to japanese viewers. the concept of being trans is also far less shown/explained in japan due to widespread lgbtq+ prejudice. (not to say it's amazing in western countries, just that afaik it's more widespread in japan.) so japanese viewers are more likely to see a simple crossdresser whereas western viewers are more likely to see a trans person.
another cultural difference is pronouns. in the english version, many trans people may have found it jarring when the characters immediately switched to he/him pronouns when told chihiro was "really" a boy. however, in the japanese version this didn't happen. how?
well, in japanese, gendered terms are used far more often by the person themself than other people. japanese pronouns are mostly gender neutral, and other terms are used to express gender: eg. the word "boku," meaning "i/me" has masculine connotations and is often used by men or other masculine presenting people. so it was entirely possible to conduct the whole trial without using gendered pronouns for chihiro. which is what happened. however, this isn't a thing in english, so the translators had to make a choice, and they chose he/him pronouns.
the transmisogynistic slur
i hear "chihiro was called a transmisogynistic slur" a lot in this discourse recently, and i've scoured the games and anime for any sign of it, and no dice. however, i have found this panel from the manga adaptation.
Tumblr media
let's break this down. the top male character, hifumi yamada, uses a word which is offensive towards transfems in reference to chihiro. it refers to a trope in which a female character turns out to "really" be a male. one can see easily how this continues the transphobia towards transfems.
before we go on i'd like to clarify i'm not defending the use of this word. it shouldn't be in here, but it is.
however, it's not too hard to figure out why it is there, and it isn't necessarily because of blatant, purposeful transphobia. the trope this word refers to is a common one in anime. hifumi is the ultimate fanfiction writer, and he's proven to be very knowledgeable on the subject of anime. it's pretty likely that he's come across this trope at some point, which causes him to use the word. while insensitive, it's in character.
additionally, this isn't a well-known slur. if he'd dropped the t slur in there this conversation would be over, because that's clear transphobia. i knew the t slur wasn't okay even before i knew i was trans. but the word actually used i only learned was offensive much further into my journey into the trans community. also? this slur also targets actual crossdressers, which is likely what they were getting at.
also, monokuma (the black and white bear in the lower panel) immediately complains about the use of the word. he condones murder (because. it's a killing game) but not this. that, in my opinion, shows that this was never intended as transphobic. the handling is, of course, iffy and therefore can be and is often interpreted as offensive, but it isn't a blatant attempt to spread hate. i'm not here to defend the makers of danganronpa by the way (they're already very questionable in other ways) but it's important to make this clear.
-----------------------------
conclusion
the chihiro gender debate isn't small in the danganronpa community. it's calmed down a little, yes, but it's still very difficult to talk about chihiro without hitting into some of it, so much so that most chihiro-related posts have a warning at the bottom not to start discourse. and it disappoints me. a character of uncertain gender? which gnc and trans people alike are able to relate to? they could've been wonderful, a connection between us all. but, instead, people tried to force their views on each other, claim them as canon, and all chihiro is remembered for in the fandom is fights and blowouts. dnis saying dni if you think they're trans, dni if you think they aren't.
why does it matter? why do people need an absolutely canon view? why is it that a boy dressing as a girl is decided to be inherently transfem, and girls dressing as boys are decided to be the same? why is there such massive pushback on ALL trans people finding comfort in a character whose experiences they may relate to? why?
the chihiro gender discourse may not be a high profile case of the lack of transunitism and unity between trans and gnc people. it's not the most important. but it was my first taste of it, and it did colour my life for a while. it's time for change, not just within this comparatively small discourse space, but the trans community in general.
(thank you if you read all of this, by the way. it's very much appreciated /g)

Parallel Worlds are REAL!
[Future Foundation Chairpersons Office, 17:16pm]
Tumblr media
Yes. It would be fine to come in for an inspection, but I implore you to bring security with you.
*Chihiro speaks to an important man over the phone.
Tumblr media
Because I’m telling you right now, if anyone told you that the Future Foundation was the safest place right now, then you’d be wrong. We’re still dealing with Zetsubou and we’re understaffed.
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Yes, yes, we’ve got temporary workers from the Kisaragi Foundation on site right now. They’ve been-
*FZZZT!*
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
...!
*Chihiro’s phone call with the inspector is cut off, as does every other device in his room.
Tumblr media
What the-!?
*He starts trying to type and activate the machines, but to no avail. Everything’s gone dark.
Tumblr media
Alter Ego!?
*Not even Alter Ego responds.
Tumblr media
It can’t be...is it a...?
*BANG!*
Tumblr media
CHIHIRO!
Tumblr media
Mondo!
*Mondo suddenly bursts into the room.
Tumblr media
Dude, are you alright!?
Tumblr media
Y-Yes, I’m perfectly fine. What happened?
Tumblr media
It’s a blackout. It happened just now, complete outta nowhere. Taka told me to come check up on you while he and your old man try an’ fix the problem.
Tumblr media
Where are they? I might go ask dad if he needs help.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aren’t you done yet!? The longer we’re dark, the longer Zetsubou have time to breach our security!
Tumblr media
Hngh...
Tumblr media
Well, we do have Sakura and Munakata looking for the source, but at this rate, the entire day will be wasted.
Tumblr media
Hey, knock it off! I’m a programmer, not an electrician! Dealing with blackouts isn’t exactly my specialty...
Tumblr media
Ngh! Let me try it then!
Tumblr media
Back off Taka. Stop bugging him.
Tumblr media
Ah! Chairman!
*Chihiro and Mondo arrive.
Tumblr media
Move over. Let me take a look at the system.
*With a remote laptop, Chihiro plugs into the system and starts to scan the network for any anomalies. Taichi sits beside him looking for things he might miss.
Tumblr media
Ah! There!
Tumblr media
Hm?
*Mondo, Bandai and Taka all lean in to look at the screen.
Tumblr media
Wassup?
Tumblr media
It looks like the database was fried. Possibly the result of an Electromagnetic Pulse of some kind.
Tumblr media
You mean someone planted an EMP?
Tumblr media
Is it even possible that Zetsubou have an EMP powerful enough to render the Foundation useless? Why wouldn’t they use it before!?
*The door to the security room opens again, and more people step inside.
Tumblr media
Everyone, calm down. We have found the source of the problem.
Tumblr media
Sakura!
*Sakura, alongside Munakata, steps back into the room. Munakata has a tight grip on someone.
Tumblr media
Ack! Hey!
Tumblr media
Munakata. Don’t be so rough with him.
Tumblr media
My apologies. But after the scare he just put us all through, I don’t think he deserves the nice treatment.
*Munakata shoves Uchui forward.
Tumblr media
Oof! Ngh...
Tumblr media
*sigh* Where’s the fissure?
Tumblr media
Huh? It’s...here...
Tumblr media
Hm...
Tumblr media
May I borrow your laptop for a second? Don’t worry, I won’t touch anything I’m not supposed to.
*Chihiro and Taichi scoot over, as Uchui starts to type into Chihiro’s computer. He then goes over to the wires, pulls them out of the system and then plugs them back in again. He goes back to the computer to type a few more things, and once he does.
*KCHHHRR!*
Tumblr media
Ah!
Tumblr media
The lights are back.
Tumblr media
Does that mean the blackout’s been fixed?
Tumblr media
It should be. I mean, that usually works.
Tumblr media
How’d you know to do that Kamui?
Tumblr media
Uchui.
Tumblr media
Ah, shit, sorry.
Tumblr media
No problem. This was my fault, so you’ve got nothing to be sorry for.
Tumblr media
You mean YOU caused the blackout?
Tumblr media
Not on purpose, believe me.
Tumblr media
Munakata and I traced the blackout to Uchui’s lab. He was tinkering with a machine in his lab, and it accidently released an Electromagnetic Pulse.
Tumblr media
You’re lucky it was an accident, or else I would’ve thrown you right down the high security cell with Komaeda.
Tumblr media
...!
Tumblr media
Munakata. I’m the one who makes that call, not you.
Tumblr media
...My apologies, Mr Chihiro Fujisaki.
Tumblr media
Yeah, but...as Sakura said, this isn’t the first time that a machine I’ve made has emitted this kind of pulse. However, said pulse is usually small enough that it only effects my lab.
Tumblr media
So...I apologize for the scare. Really, I can’t begin to express how sorry I am.
Tumblr media
Having such a stupid coincidence happen now of all times...
Tumblr media
Hm...
Tumblr media
Uchui. Do you think you could take me to your lab?
Tumblr media
Huh!?
Tumblr media
I’d like to see what you’ve been up to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wow...!
*Uchui takes Chihiro to his lab. When they arrive, Chihiro sees the machine that Uchui was experimenting on. It’s a small platform with two satellites or needles pointed at each other.
Tumblr media
Are you saying that THIS little thing is what caused the blackout?
Tumblr media
That it is. But of course, I’ve turned it off. I would give a demonstration, but...I don’t want to bring the system down again until I know it’s safe.
Tumblr media
You’re not planning on taking this off my hands, are you?
Tumblr media
No. Even though it caused us a minor setback, I don’t think anyone would know how to handle the machine better than you.
Tumblr media
...Say, would you mind telling me how it works?
Tumblr media
Huh? Y-You mean you’d be willing to listen to me?
Tumblr media
Of course. I’m curious to know what it does.
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
A-Alright, well...it’s not often that people ASK me how my studies work.
Tumblr media
To put it simply, I’m trying to develop a large-scale version of this device. If I do...
Tumblr media
then there’s a chance that I might be able to discover how to travel to different universes!
Tumblr media
R-Really?
Tumblr media
It’s always been a topic that I’m interested in, but ever since Shuichi and the others showed up in our world, I KNOW it’s possible. I’ve been eternally curious about the world that they come from, so I’ve been searching for a way to go there myself. And maybe even beyond that!
Tumblr media
Have you ever heard of the Large Hadron Collider?
Tumblr media
Yes. To my knowledge, it’s the largest and most powerful particle accelerator in the world.
Tumblr media
Exactly. The LHC circulates beams of protons that travel in opposite directions, near the speed of light, and bashes them together. Hence the name “collider.”
Tumblr media
And you’re trying to replicate that? Because you think it will give you the power to travel to other parallel universes, multiverses or alternate realities?
Tumblr media
Actually, in terms of quantum mechanics, though people tend to see parallel universes, multiverses and alternate realities as three names for the same thing...They’re actually three completely different things.
Tumblr media
See, Shuichi, Kaede, Kaito and the other kids are from an alternate reality, because our timelines SHARE events. They’re just portrayed in a different way.
Tumblr media
For example, your Killing Game still happened in their world, and you still existed there, but you weren’t a real person. Just a fictional character. That’s an alternate version of you, but it’s still you. It’s still Chihiro Fujisaki.
Tumblr media
Picture this too. The power of infinity dictates that there’s a world out there, where Makoto Naegi wasn’t the hero who ended the first killing game, but YOU were. That’s an alternate reality where you survived, and became the Ultimate Hope of the Future Foundation instead of him. But it’s not like that’s a different you. It is STILL you.
Tumblr media
That’s...really hard to imagine.
Tumblr media
However, that’s the difference. In a parallel universe, you DON’T exist, because that world would have completely different life and history than ours.
*Uchui suddenly goes over to the side and grabs a whiteboard. He flips it over to show a diagram.
Tumblr media
Oh, you had a diagram prepared?
Tumblr media
I have this written down just in case I ever have to explain the science behind it to anyone...Not that I typically ever do.
Tumblr media
Do...people not like hearing you talk about this?
Tumblr media
Usually they get bored. My own family was always opposed to me discussing such a hypothetical form of science.
Tumblr media
The only one who’s ever heard me out and taken a genuine interest in my ideas is...well, Kuripa.
Tumblr media
And you I guess, assuming you’re not just humbling me.
Tumblr media
Well, I’m amazed we didn’t talk sooner. I’ve always liked ideas like theoretical and hypotheticals. I’m always intrigued whenever I realize just how vast the universe and beyond is.
Tumblr media
Anyway, I’m interrupting you. You were talking to me about alternate realities?
Tumblr media
Ah, yes, well.
*Uchui gestures to his diagram.
Tumblr media
The idea of alternate realities arises from the idea that deals with all the counterintuitive qualities of quantum mechanics. That idea is called the Many Worlds Theory...
Tumblr media
*Uchui talks to Chihiro for another 10 to 20 minutes until he finally concludes his presentation.
Tumblr media
S-So? How was that?
Tumblr media
Amazing! Really!
Tumblr media
A-Are you sure?
Tumblr media
No, I’m serious! That was really interesting.
Tumblr media
I do have just one question though. Let’s say that you really do develop a machine that allows you to travel to other worlds and realities?
Tumblr media
What, might I ask, would you do?
Tumblr media
I dunno. Rule over them as an evil intergalactic overlord or something?
Tumblr media
Hahaha! Even I can tell you’re joking.
Tumblr media
I only ask because...if you do find a way, does that mean that we can send those kids back to their own reality?
Tumblr media
Possibly make sure that they never come back?
Tumblr media
Why would I ever want to do that!?
Tumblr media
Shuichi and the others are far happier here than they ever would be in their own world! Their Killing Game might have been fictional, but they said themselves that they signed up for it because they couldn’t deal with how pathetic their lives were and how trash their society was.
Tumblr media
That place is it’s own special hell, and I would NEVER want them gone!
Tumblr media
Uchui, calm down. I wasn’t asking that because I want to be rid of them! After what Shuichi did for the Foundation, he’d be lucky we ever let him go!
Tumblr media
I was just thinking...should you succeed, do you maybe think that...
Tumblr media
Maybe...you can get rid of Tsumugi Shirogane for good?
Tumblr media
Oh...!
Tumblr media
I see...you want a way to get rid of Tsumugi Shirogane, but you don’t want to kill her...That’s why you asked.
Tumblr media
Sorry. I can’t believe I made such an assumption.
Tumblr media
It’s fine.
Tumblr media
Um...Chihiro?
Tumblr media
Ah. Yes dad?
Tumblr media
Sorry. It’s just that...Taka really needed to speak with you...But you were so into the discussion that I didn’t want to-
Tumblr media
A-Also, the governor who you were on the phone with is trying to call you back and-
Tumblr media
No, no, it’s alright. It was rude of me to take up so much of the chairman’s time.
Tumblr media
Right...I guess I’d better get back to work. This was a nice break though.
Tumblr media
Thank you so much for the conversation, Uchui.
*Chihiro begins to leave.
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
M-Mr Fujisaki!
Tumblr media
Yes?
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
I don’t know if it’s possible yet. But...
Tumblr media
I can definitely try to find a way.
Tumblr media
...Great. Catch you later then.
*Chihiro and Taichi leave.
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
...Ngh...
*Uchui goes over to the desk with his device, and reached into the drawer. After he makes sure that Chihiro and Taichi are out of eyeshot and earshot, he pulls out the TRUE cause of the blackout. A powerful, high-radius, yet tiny EMP that fits in his hand.
Tumblr media
Why of all people that I have to betray does it have to be one of the few people who genuinely give a damn about me?
Tumblr media
Well. It’s not like I told him any lies...Except for how the machine was what caused the blackout.
Tumblr media
Still, that was too close a shave. I CLEARLY miscalculated how powerful the blast should be...But I guess you learn more from your failures than you do your successes.
*Uchui puts the EMP and the rest of his equipment back into the drawer.
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Sending Shirogane back to the universe that she came from...Not a bad idea at all, Mr Fujisaki. I commend you for it.
Tumblr media
And I meant what I said...when I said I would never want to send Shuichi and his friends back to their own world.
Tumblr media
Especially not after the effort I went through to BRING them here in the first place...!

The Chihiro analysis maybe? That sounds excellent.
So this analysis will be going into two things. Why the male Fujisaki interpretation also has a good moral for trans/genderqueer folk and why Fujisaki's story ultimately is not about gender so equating it to gender discourse is a massive disservice to the chapter.
As I'll be talking about a male interpretation, I will be using he/him pronouns for Fujisaki. If this is something upsetting to you, then this is your warning to not read it. But I do reccomend it, as this is a moral I have not really seen the fandom ever talk about.
Let's start with a quick recap of the story from a male Fujisaki perspective.
Fujisaki was a boy who was bullied and harassed from a very young age for his appearance. Fujisaki is small, meek, and feminine. This led to a lot of bullying because of how he doesn't look like a real boy, and how he's just a weak pansy. As a result, Fujisaki thought it would be easier to present as a girl, since people thought he was one anyway and couldn't respect him as a boy. This way life became a lot easier if he just fit into how society deemed him. Not only did he lose the bullying but he got the added benefits of people being especially kind to him for being a cute girl.
Then cut to the KG. Around chapter 2 when faced with having his secret exposed, Fujisaki feels inspired to take matters into his own hands and be himself again. He wants to be strong and to feel strong, so that he can face the others and tell them who he really is.
Fujisaki however gets a bit misguided about his idealism of what being strong is here. He was told his entire life that he is not a real boy because he is WEAK. So Fujisaki interpreted this as PHYSICAL. It especially grew when he met Owada, the manliest guy in the cast who is absolutely physically strong.
Idolizing Owada, he meets with him to ask for training in order to feel like enough of a man that he can confidently tell the truth. This in turn triggers Owada, who kills him.
You may be wondering how this story could still be good for trans folk and genderqueer folks if Fujisaki is a cis male that was crossdressing. Simply put it. Its because of Fujisakis strength to go against what society has told him to present as. This is the whole reason that Owada gets angry enough to suddenly kill him, because mentally he is far weaker than Fujisaki.
Fujisaki decided to do something HARD. He decided he would present AS HE WANTS. It doesn't MATTER if Fujisaki is feminine. It doesn't matter if the world says he's too weak to be a real guy. What matters is that Fujisaki wants to respected as a guy, and he is willing to fight to get there.
That ABSOLUTELY is a good moral for trans folk, genderqueer folk, and even cis folk for the idealism of not conforming to gender roles if it doesn't make you happy.
Amd this is also why I think that watering down Fujisaki's story to gender discouse is a massive disservice. It isn't about if hes a boy or if shes a girl. Its about how he was willing to BE HIMSELF even if the world told him not to be. Its about how Fujisaki is MENTALLY STRONG and how he never even NEEDED to be physically strong. He just needed to be himself!
Thats why Owada is such an important part of this story. Because we are meant to perceive Fujisaki at first glace as weak, and Owada at first glance as strong (danganronpa at the end of the day is character tropes that go beyond their trope).
You DO NOT know what lies behind people. You don't. The ones you believe are weak may be strong and the ones you believe are strong may be weak.
THAT is what ch 2 is about. Its about two people and their mental strengths clashing with their outward appearance.
Of course, all interpretations of Fujisaki are valid. I am not saying you can't see her as a trans girl! But I see no point in attacking others when both are perfectly fine interpretations on a moral stand point. This goes for both sides.

Why Don’t You Love Me?
Chihiro x Reader during the Killing Game
Warning: Angst and sadness. I apologize in advance for what you’re about to read lmao
Tumblr media
He could feel his eyes watering as he read the note that he held in his shaky hands, the piece of paper threatening to fall. He read it, again and again, unable to comprehend its contents.
S/O is going to reveal your secret tonight.
It had just appeared under his door moments ago, after he’d come back from reading that horrid motive, revealing that Monokuma knew his secret. He didn’t see who slipped him the note, but at that point, it didn’t matter. How could they? After what they’ve been through together, this is the thanks he gets? He’d always thought that they’d made a pretty good team. That their relationship could withstand anything.
So why was a simple secret plausible enough to cause them to reveal something that he’d told them in confidence? It took courage to admit that he was a boy to them, to be vulnerable to them, to expose himself and his past to them and now it just seemed like it was all just...for nothing. All the memories of his past began to cloud his mind. The bullying, the teasing, the being made fun of, the crying in his bed at night wondering when it all would end...
No. He couldn’t go through it again. Not like this. He wasn’t strong enough, and he knew it. Any confidence that he had to work on himself, improve his mental health, and reveal his own secret to the world on his own terms was completely thrown out of the window, all because of that one note.
Throughout the day, he was weary of S/O’s advances towards him. After all, this was all obviously just some sick joke to them. Their hugs did nothing for him. Those soft, warm hands that he once longed to hold felt as cold as ice now. Every kiss between the two of you left a bitter taste in his mouth. Losing trust for the only person you’ve ever loved was definitely despair inducing, and yet, it’s not like Chihiro even tried to fight it.
Despair had already won.
“Chihiro Fujisaki!” S/O finally approached him at the top of a stairwell, frustrated with his distant nature throughout the day. “What’s gotten into you today? Where is the sweet boy that I’ve come to know and love? What’s happened to you?”
Damn, he couldn’t stop those tears from falling down his face, and he absolutely hated himself for it. Damn this killing game, damn this despair, damn it all to hell. “W-Why don’t you love me anymore?” He managed to choke out angrily, swallowing the lump that had formed in his throat. “What did I ever do t-to you? I loved you, I trusted you, and you’re willing to throw it all away for some dumb secret that you have?” He took a step towards them.
“Ch-Ch-Chihiro? What’s wrong with you? What the hell are you talking about?!” S/O accordingly took a step back, afraid of whatever it was their once sweet and loving boyfriend was talking about. You’ve never seen him this upset before, and it scared you.
“Acting as if you don’t know. Of course.” Chihiro pulled out the note from earlier, shoving it in their face. “Then explain this! Why do you want me to be unhappy so badly?” By now, he was desperately sobbing, almost unable to speak. S/O stood there, stunned, trying to process the note and what was going on. Through their silence, Chihiro was able to choke out one last sentence.
“What did I do wrong?”
S/O’s expression softened, and they began taking steps toward Chihiro. No wonder he acted like he hated you; he thought they hated him! Well, now was the time to set things right. S/O wrapped him in a tight embrace, calmly stroking his hair. He didn’t return the favor, instead sobbing in his hands.
“I’d never, ever reveal your secret if you didn’t want me to. I couldn’t do that to you, you know that. I love you too much.”
No. He couldn’t trust them anymore. He couldn’t trust anyone. Everyone was exactly the same. They all wanted to watch him crumble. They all wanted to walk all over him, like the doormat they thought he was. Not this time.
It all took place so suddenly. One minute, you were hugging him tightly, trying to calm him down, and the next, you were at the bottom of the stairs, a pool of blood starting to slowly form around your head. All Chihiro could do at that point was stare in silent horror, knees trembling and eyes wide.
What has he done?
The class trial moved slowly, at least to Chihiro. For the most part, he couldn’t pull together a sentence to contribute. With no obvious clues besides the note Kyoko had found beside the body, that was the only lead they had. It seemed nobody could figure out who wrote the message, or who it was for, until...
“This is getting painfully boring.” Byakuya frowned at the others. “It was me, you imbeciles. I wrote the message to S/O.”
“Byakuya... you wrote the message?” Makoto questioned. “But how did you know that she knew someone’s secret? More importantly, how did you know what the killer’s secret was?”
“Simple. She simply knew about their secret beforehand, I didn’t have to know anything about it.” An uncomfortable silence befell the room, as everyone slowly started to put the pieces together. It was something nobody wanted to say out loud, but it looked like the only possibility.
“Chihiro... it’s not you...is it?” Makoto squinted at Chihiro. All he could do is look down in shame, biting his lip.
“She’s not answering! Why is she not answering?!” Aoi demanded, making Byakuya scoff.
“It’s not obvious to you, yet? She’s the killer. She killed S/O in cold blood, all to protect some trivial secret she was keeping. How ridiculous.”
“Chihiro, please, say that you object to this!” Sakura butted in, not wanting to believe the ugly truth. “Tell us that he’s wrong.”
Chihiro took a deep breath. There was no getting out of it now. “You’re right. I’m the one who killed S/O. It was all my fault, a-and I shouldn’t have pushed them down the stairs...!” He clenched his fists, angry at himself for stooping so low. “All because...I wanted to keep my secret. But there’s not a secret in the world that was worth losing her life over. So... that’s why I feel the need to tell you all, right now. I...I’m a boy.”
“A...boy?” Aoi covered her mouth in surprise. Another uncomfortable silence fell upon the room, before Monokuma spoke up.
“Puhuhuhuhu! Well it seems you all have reached your conclusion, so now, it’s time to cast your votes!” As everyone sadly casted their votes, Chihiro got ready to accept his fate. “Everyone guessed correctly! The person who killed S/O is Chihiro Fujisaki!” He laughed, holding his stomach.
Chihiro turned to Byakuya, trying to wipe the tears about to spill from his eyes once again. “Byakuya...why would you write that note? Why would you do that?”
“In case you haven’t noticed, this is a game, and our objective is to survive. Feelings have no place in an environment such as this, and that’s what ultimately got her-- and soon, yourself-- killed.”
“B-But!”
“I also couldn’t just simply allow my secrets to be revealed to everyone in the world. The Togami name has a reputation to upkeep. All I did was plant the seed, and you carried out the rest.”
Chihiro was stunned. “O-Oh. I see.”
“Now then, I’ve prepared a very special punishment for Chihiro Fujisaki, the Ultimate Programmer!” Monokuma cheered. Chihiro turned to face everyone, a sad smile on his face.
“I’m sorry everyone. I’m sorry, S/O. I’m so, so sorry...”
“LET’S GIVE IT EVERYTHING WE’VE GOT! IIIIIIIT’S PUNISHMENT TIME!”
