For a while, there's no sound from the other side of the door, and you start to wonder if he's even home. You decide to knock once more:

Knock, knock, knock.

Just then, you hear footsteps, and the door suddenly swings open, revealing a tired Xiao. He seems to have just woken up, and he looks surprised to see you. He mumbles softly, "[Name]?"

You didn't know what came over you when you suddenly slapped him and blurted out, “You asshole!" He looked at you in surprise and confusion before taking you inside his apartment.

"[Name], come on, let's talk," he sighed as he closed the door. The one thing that immediately caught your attention the moment you entered was the luggage at the side of the couch.

"So, you're leaving?" you scoffed. "[Name], let me explain," he said as he tried to get closer to you.

"No, Xiao, what are you even trying to do?" you snapped at him.

"You told me you'd make it up to me, and then suddenly I come home, and all your things are gone, and I find out you're leaving," you said, angry.

"[Name], please, just let me explain," he said softly. "Just listen to what I have to say, okay?" he added.

You were still angry, but you wanted answers, so you let him continue.

"I'm leaving the country," he said, "but not to come back to the states. I'm visiting my mom," he revealed. "Hu Tao's mom divorced my dad, and she's coming with me and my sister to see my mom," he explained.

"I don't believe you," you replied, glaring at him.

Just then, you felt your phone buzz in your pocket. Annoyed, you took out your phone to check who it was.

"You believe me now?" he said, a small smile on his face. "Well, you could've still told me instead of just leaving," you replied, still slightly annoyed.

He pulled you closer to him as he gently took you in his arms. "I know," he mumbled, "but Hu Tao's mom was very strict about not telling anyone about it since she doesn't want my dad to find out," he explained.

"Did you really think I would leave you again?" he smiled. "I already made that mistake."

"So, are we okay now?" he asked.

In Hindsight 📹 Ch. 09: "ping pong"

You feel a tap on your shoulder just as you claimed your change from the student who was running the stand you were buying from just now. You turn your back to see Kuni awkwardly standing behind you, stiffly waving — you look behind him and see who you assumed to be his friends. One was face palming, one was trying to stifle a giggle, another was calmly observing and the last was probably cheering behind Kunikuzushi.

"Kuni! I didn't know you went to stuff like this?" You greet with a smile, holding your snack and phone in one hand while the other rested on your hip.

He scratches his purple locks, "Yeah, I was kinda dragged here but I guess it's a nice change. Oh yeah— um, my friends were wondering if you wanted to join us explore the fair. I believe the twins are running a few things as committee members and Xinyan is kind of busy."

His words would've been drowned out by the crowd's chatter if you weren't standing so close to him. "Woah, you actually know my friends' schedules by heart." You joke, patting his shoulder as if to tell him good job.

"Actually, yeah. It's kinda boring not hanging out with anyone," you pout slightly. "Are you sure you don't mind me coming along? I don't wanna intrude on anything."

Kuni's face shifts and shakes his head no, chuckling awkwardly. "It's fine. After all, they were the ones who quite forcefully asked me to invite you. Those losers behind me? Yeah. That's them."

You peer behind him once more to see 4 people conversing (you think, maybe they were trying to act natural which you laugh at their attempts).

"Auhm... sure! I just have to leave you guys for a bit before 8pm since I have to assist something for the concert." You say, walking to their table.

Everyone exchanges greetings and introductions, Ajax and Venti send a few weird smug looks between you and Kuni but you assume it's just in their personalities. You swoon for sometime over meeting Venti in person, you've heard of him a few times in the industry and frankly, his songs were addicting. You spend the rest of the day playing the game booths with them. At some point, you receive Kunikuzushi's prize from the ping pong cup game ran by Hu Tao and Yanfei from the Humanities department — it was a medium-sized penguin plush that seized your heart the moment you laid your eyes on it.

When 7:50 pm strikes, you say your rushed goodbyes to the group and make your way to the backstage of the venue. It was time to do your role for the fair's concert. Your excuse from earlier was a cover for your actual job for tonight:

...which was to perform in front of the university for the first time ever as a performing artist.

My one prediction for Arlecchino

She won't surpass Hu Tao-- at best she'll be toe to toe with Hu Tao if not a little bit less powerful than her.

It's been 3~4 years since her release and I don't think there's been anyone who surpassed her when it comes to being a pyro DPS much less a pyro polearm DPS plus she has a HP drain thing going on, so unless Arlecchino has a cost similar to Hu Tao or more I don't think hoyoverse will make a pyro DPS that beats good ol hu in terms of power.

Besides, Hu Tao has JP Megumin's VA and CH Kiana's VA and knowing Hoyoverse with their HI3 expys either in voice or appearance they'll probably make those expy's stronk.

And if I'm wrong? I will pull for Arlecchino then, mark my words!

*squints at windblume ch.3 in "started playing in 3.3"* I've no care for the hexaedron nor Alice, I only know her from teyvat travel guide and she was such a jerk in the Mondstadt edition. Also I have neither Albedo nor Klee so thank goodness I read up on them beforehand I guess

on the other hand I do find it very funny that Venti getting along with everyone everywhere (xinqiu, kazuha, xinyan, hu tao, yae miko, etc) also extends to those who hold violent intent towards him djdjd (though they really don't explain why the hexagon challenged Venti in particular out of all the archons...or when, bc Venti isn't easily found to posit a challenge to, nor known for his martial prowess if it was purely the hexhocuspocus' arrogance talking. Hope this is a plot thread that they will adress in the future but honestly getting a bit tired of seeing so many threads hanging—ik we're only halfway through the story but still. And NOT a fan of lore being locked behind a time-limited event)

That's not a recent player problem. The Hexenzirkel have never come up in the story before. They've only been mentioned in passing in some character voice lines and bios.

The only thing we knew about them was that they're a bunch of witches who sometimes study the Irminsul, and Alice and Mona's master and Albedo's creator were among them.

Note how this event directly confirms that the group itself is utterly irrelevant. Scarlett thought they were a secret council who can change the course of history, but in fact they're just some randos who happen to include three+ immortals. The entire thing is just spruced up but ultimately pointless pedantry to explain how certain future characters know each other. I'm fairly sure that the writers just thought the aesthetic of a witches' tea party was cool but had no actual use for this idea, so it's just set dressing, basically.

I'll list the members here, because it's easy to lose track... because all these characters are utterly unknown to us:

1) A is Alice, Klee's mom, "One who would never lie". Her amazing feats include killing a whole bunch of eternally cursed people in gruesome ways, cursing a man to only speak by repeating what is said to him while trying to cure his stutter, abandoning her young child and refusing to visit despite having time to screw around endlessly, damaging a location that is both historically significant and has a strong personal importance to others because it "didn't look old enough," and various other nonsense.

2) B is Barbeloth, Mona's master.

3) R is Rhinedottir, "A flower that is not of this world". She is Albedo's creator. But she also created the rifthounds and Durin, and 500 years ago, her (Gold's) monsters ravaged the world.

4) N is Nicole, "Guide who will never get lost". She's the one who speaks to the Traveler at the end of Scaramouche's thing. This entire event probably exists to facilitate her upcoming presence.

5) J is I. Ivanovna, the one who went back home (presumably to Snezhnaya) to get married. She's had many successors, of whom Scarlett is the latest, but Alice refused to acknowledge any of them. Probably irrelevant, since she's succeeded by a bunch of NPCs.

6) M is Andersdotter, "A legend that never ends". She's a human author who wrote the popular fairytale "The Boar Princess"

The thing I can't puzzle out is which one of them killed her lover when he grew old. By elimination, it seems to be Alice? It's not Gold, it's not woman Hans Christian Andersen, it's not Mona's master or J, so it has to be Alice, Nicole, or a secret other member, since this might not be all of them.

In regard to them challenging Barbatos, it's because this is a Mondstadt event and the writers wanted to have Venti involved. Aside from that, I guess it's to show their human arrogation ARROGANCE.

I can guarantee this doesn't matter at all, so you don't need to keep track of it.
