WIP WEDNESDAY
This is a snippet from chapter 36 of TBBW, a very very rough draft - I haven't done much for this chapter because I'm obvi focusing on editing. However, I'm sure you'll still find it exciting - and a hint to where the fic's plot is taking us next.
Klaus eyed the new girl standing in the Lockwood study, watching as she perused the family’s various collectables and ornaments decorating the room, admiring a painting which Klaus thought rather tacky that was hung over the fireplace. There was a scent about her, tainting the entire room, wet fur and damp earth - a werewolf. Interesting.
“You’re a new face,” he commented, making her jump. She hadn’t noticed he was there.
To give her credit, she recovered quickly, spinning around to face him, taking in his appearance with a sharp eye. Klaus let her look, stepping further into the room, his hands behind his back.
“And I take it from your accent you’re an old one,” she pointed her finger at him, tilting her head in question. “Klaus?”
He smiled down at the floor, amused by her valiant attempt to hide her fear. Unfortunately, her jumping heartbeat gave her away.
“My reputation precedes me. Hopefully not all bad.”
She curled up her lip in obvious disgust. “A little bad. Mostly repulsive.”
His smile dropped, no longer amused at all. He couldn’t work out if her disrespect was foolishness or arrogance.
“So you’re a friend of Tyler’s-” he continued, walking closer towards her, eyes narrowed. “That’s strange. He’s never mentioned you.”
The girl clamped her mouth shut, suddenly with little to say. And that was when Klaus heard his name being said, far away at the other end of the house, by a voice whose cadence he recognised instantly: Caroline.
“You’re kidding me? Klaus?”
Klaus turned his head slightly, frowning as he listened in more intently. He could practically hear the wince in Tyler’s response.
“Yeah, and I really don’t want to piss him off so…You should go to the party. I’ll be fine here.”
“But I’d rather hang with you,” he heard Caroline reply, so tentative and so very hopeful.
Regardless, Tyler shot her down.
“Trust me, I am no fun right now.”
Why would Tyler turn her away? The petty, vindictive boy Tyler was, no doubt he’d jump at the chance to have Caroline on his arm while Klaus was in the house. A childish fuck you, since he couldn’t turn the hybrids protecting him away. So why say no? His mother was out, so she wouldn’t intrude, he was alone in the house except for-
Klaus’ gaze fell back on the new girl, looking at her in a new light. Suddenly, her presence took on an entirely different meaning, one that Klaus didn’t like at all.
“And I think I know why,” Klaus continued, shooting her a smile that was all teeth.
“Okay. Well, I’ll see you later then?”
“Yeah, I’ll call you,”
“Yeah, okay.”
Klaus felt his hands clench behind his back, an anger settling his chest at sheer disappointment and hesitance he heard in Caroline’s voice, like she had done something wrong. The nerve of this boy-
“Tell me…” he trailed off, pointedly looking at the girl.
“Hayley,” she answered quickly.
“Hayley,” Klaus echoed, beginning to circle around her. “Tell me, Hayley, how did you and Tyler meet?”
She shifted her weight to one side, folding her arms around her chest. Defensive. “I ran with the pack he sought help from.”
“To break my sire bond?” Klaus asked, her face confirming his suspicions. He waved the panicked look in her eyes away. “Yes, I know all about that. So, you are one of the Outcast then.”
Hayley frowned, shaking her head in confusion and looking rather impatient, as if he was rambling nonsense. “Outcast?”
“Werewolves like yourself and Tyler: descendants of the same wolves that stabbed their brethren in the back for a chance of mercy. Doomed to forever wander in aimless, disjointed  packs,” he explained, stopping behind her, forcing her to turn to face him. His mouth curled into a sneer of his own. “Traitorous little things.”
She scoffed, smiling a little. “I literally have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“No. You wouldn’t,” Klaus drawled, tilting his head again, in that wolf-like way. Her smile fell. “Allow me to enlighten you,” he continued, pointing a finger at her, “You see, werewolves like you, like the others I made my hybrids - they know not of our nature. Instead of making a stand, staying to fight against the vampires and witches alike - your ancestors ran and hid. And in hiding, they failed to teach their children the ways of our kind. The traditions, the knowledge, the culture. All was lost until they were so far from what they are, they believe their wolf is a curse. Outcast. Alone. Forgotten.”
“Lycanthropy is a curse.”
Klaus grinned. “Is it?”
Her eyes narrowed, taking a step back from him, clearly ill at ease with what he had just said. “What would you know of our histories? You’re more vampire than wolf, I know that at least.”
“My father is what we call an Alpha of Alphas. A King,” he said, closing the distance between them, not allowing her to escape. “Do you know what that makes me, Hayley?”
“Am I supposed to say Prince Charming?” she sneered, all disgust and foolish defiance.
Something dangerous settled in Klaus’ gaze, violent and spiteful.
“Werewolves follow power. They do not follow weak Kings.” His hand shot out, enclosing around her throat and lifting her up by the neck. His eyes bled black and gold, veins crawling across his cheeks. “Do I look weak to you?” he growled out through sharp fangs.
“No,” Hayley choked out, fingers scrambling at the hand holding her throat.
“Then tread more carefully then, because unlike my father, I am not prone to mercy," he snarled in her ear, tightening his fingers around her throat for emphasis. "And learn to curb your tongue or you will find yourself without it,” he said, almost as an after thought, before letting her go. She dropped to the floor, gasping in lungfuls of air and curling over, coughing. Klaus cocked his head, his expression suddenly serene once more. He looked almost bored. When she looked up at him with wide, frightened eyes, he raised a brow, gesturing to the door impatiently. “Go.”
She didn’t need telling twice.

Welcome home (Ghost x Soap)
When visiting home for Christmas, Soap tells his family about Ghost for the first time.
Chapter 36 excerpt of Don't Let Me Go.
(context Eileen - mother; Fiona - cousin)
Soap filled the pot with water and turned the burner on. As he slid the lid on and placed the pot on the stovetop, he could feel his mother’s hot gaze digging into his back.
“What about you, John?” she asked. “Anyone in your life right now?”
Ghost’s face immediately entered his mind and he failed horribly to hide a smile.
Fiona’s eyes widened and her mouth dropped open silently.
“Oh my gosh!” Eileen exclaimed heartily with a clap. “There is! That’s a smitten smile if I’ve ever seen one.”
There was no point in trying to deny it – he had given himself away and there was no turning back. Soap stopped trying to suppress the smile and let is spread widely across his face. He turned away from the stove, leaning up against the counter.
“Yeah, there is, mum…” Soap trailed off, happy memories filling his mind.
Eileen was silent for a second, staring at him expectedly. “Well… C’mon! What are they like?”
Soap walked around the breakfast bar countertop, pulled out one of the white barstools tucked underneath, and sat down. He searched his brain for the right words. He wasn’t sure something at simple as words could give justice to how he felt.
“Very smart,” he said. “Incredibly skilled. But also kind-hearted and gentle. He makes me feel safe.”
Eileen smiled warmly with a small tilt to her head as she listened to Soap speak. “That’s amazing to hear, love. What’s his name?”
“Simon.”
The single word flowed out of his mouth easily, filling him with joy and excitement.
“And he makes you happy?”
Soap carefully considered this before answering. He considered what true happiness meant or how it should feel like. All the memories of Ghost softly caressing his face and pressing his lips against Soap’s ran through his mind, making his heart squeeze lightly. He felt like he couldn’t ever get enough of Ghost’s eyes or kisses.
“Yeah,” Soap said softly, “he does.”
“Then that’s all I care about. As far as I’m concerned, he’s already a part of the family in my eyes!”
Soap chuckled.
Out of the corner of this eye, he caught Fiona frowning at him, no doubt upset she hadn’t been told about this earlier. Soap accepted that he was going to get an earful later about keeping this from her.
Suddenly, a devious smile spread on her face. “And why isn’t Simon here today?” Fiona asked pointedly.
Eileen’s face shifted like she finally remembered she hadn’t asked that question yet.  “Yeah, why didn’t you invite him?”
Soap raised his hands defensively. “I did! But he couldn’t make it. He had…other obligations.”
“Alright well… we’ll see him next time?”
Soap didn’t feel very confident in that. “Maybe. Hopefully.” He turned to his mum, speaking more confidently. “You know we could turn this around on you two as well? Start asking you about your love life.”
“John!” Eileen said with a scolding tone. “Now that’s inappropriate…”
“Jesus Christ…” Soap mumbled, rolling his eyes as Fiona snickered.

I just finished reading through The Big Bad Wolf and have loved it. I can’t wait for more!! Any updates or news?
Hi! So happy to hear you loved it! ❤️✨
I'm currently in the process of editing/rewriting TBBW right now! I've also outlined chapter 36 and started writing some of the dialogue, but I'm hesitant to start writing it in its entirety because I feel like I'm going to end up changing a lot of TBBW and want it all up to date before I fully commit my attention to the next chapter. I'm not changing anything plot-line wise, but I am making tweaks to the lore, character development, etc. It's still the same story, but now that the first 35 chapters are written, I find I'm going back and adding bits that you'd normally see in 'filler' episodes. Anything and everything that develops characters, relationships or lore - or even just there simply because I find it fun and enjoyable. I keep reminding myself that writing these first 35 chapters was me stuffing sand into buckets and now, with time to edit, I can finally make the sandcastles: carve turrets and staircases, mount flags and add seashells, adding every scrap of detail that will ultimately make this story come alive.
For example, chapter 5 on its own, has 6.5K of entirely NEW unseen content added to it so far (it's not posted yet, nor are any other edits for TBBW, so don't get too excited). And that's not counting the scene between Sam and Kiera on the phone, which has been re-written completely for the most part. There is also at least one more new scene I still want to write. If the chapter gets too long, it might mean splitting it in two and re-organising the chapters again, like I did for chapter 11 and 12 a while ago when I edited them.
Chapter 5, I hope, is an outlier and most chapters won't have as much done to them. Chapter 1 is edited and finished, yet its mostly the same except for grammar corrections. Though Chapter 2 has a deeper insight into Klaus' mindset - particularly his pure dislike for doppelgangers - purely because it's fun for me, as well as highlighting the development of his character between The Little Wolf and the start of TBBW. There's also going to be an extra canon forwood scene at the end of that chapter, as I want to develop them more, in preparation for when I destroy the relationship in the future chapters after 35. But who nows - all the chapters centered around the Mikaelson Ball I'm eyeing hungrily, my mind whizzing with a few ideas on how I might expand on them a little bit. I also want to focus more on the hybrids, which until now I've kinda ignored.
I know it may be a little disappointing, to hear the next chapter update is a long way off yet. But I don't want to rush this. I want to savour it, every single second. And who knows, by the time you get chapter 36, you won't just be getting a 20k chapter - you'll be getting a 50k bonus update of brand new content as well, sprinkled throughout the first 35 chapters. The word count is going to be over 400k by the time I update the next chapter, probably closer to 450k, I'm almost sure of it.
I can't promise when the next chapter will arrive, but I can promise this:
It will be worth the wait.
