'Teasing the fans' - Harry Collett x poc! non-binary! reader
Tumblr media
Synopsis: You and Harry explain the premise of your upcoming movie and your characters while teasing the fans.
Rating: PG-13
Warning(s): mentions of swearing
(the interview questions are bold)
Swords & Spirits' Y/n L/n & Harry Collett talk Swords, Spirits, and Character Dynamics | Explain This | Esquire
"Hi! I'm Y/n L/n."
"Hello, I'm Harry Collett."
"And Esquire asked us to explain some things."
"Some things?"
"Yes. Some thin- things about our movie, Swords & Spirits."
"That's better."
"Oh hush."
"If you could change one thing about your character, what would it be?"
You take a minute, thinking hard about your answer, "I would change the fact that Z uses their parents' death as an excuse for their attitude. Sometimes it was valid and other times, it was just too much and it got so fucking annoying. I won't say much but Z will take you through an emotional rollercoaster. Haz?"
"I would change Icarus' nothing. Icarus, to me, is a pretty stable characters. He sticks to his morals and holds Z accountable which is much needed. Yeah, Icarus is fine. He's also more emotionally aware than Z and he also a damn good best friend."
"He reminds me of Percy Jackson."
"Really?"
"Yeah. 'cause Percy's fatal flaw is loyalty and there are moments where Icarus' loyalty to Z is sometimes deadly."
"Yeah. Yeah, I can see that."
"Describe Icarus and Z's dynamic as if you were explaining it to a 5-year old."
"Ha! I don't know if I can do that."
"Ok, ok. Here's how it'll start: Z and Icarus are best friends. But sometimes they get closer than that."
"I can hear my niece going, "like mommy and daddy?" and I will not answer that."
"What would you say?"
"I would just say that they are best friends and leave it at that, besides why is a 5-year old watching it anyways."
"Fair point."
"How was it, fighting with actual weapons?"
"It took a while to get used to. The swords in House of The Dragon... there's a real one for scene stills and when we're filming, the one I had was made from aluminum, I believe. It was really hard to learn archery 'cause Icarus also has a bow and arrow, and I had to learn within a week so, I had a limited amount of experience and teaching."
"It was cool but, I hated the fact that I couldn't get a butterfly knife."
"You wanted a butterfly knife?"
"Yes! They said that a butterfly knife is too detailed to make a prop of and I couldn't use a real one for obvious reasons. Even though I know all of the precautions and how to safely use it."
You stick your tongue out to the camera.
"Explain the progression of your characters' relationship."
"Icarus and Z are best friends."
"Childhood besties, and they are very close mainly due to their mothers' friendship. Their moms were soul-swords during their time as active duty in the Society of Swords."
"Z and Icarus are also soul-swords. Z is the one that gets them into trouble, and Icarus either goes along with it or tries to reel Z back in."
"And then, they are relieved of their duty after they disregard direct orders. Losing your sigil is painful and you can feel the connection breaking. Icarus and Z never really had to tell each other what they were feeling because the other already knew."
"But now, they lost that soul connection. They don't know what to do with themselves. As the film progresses, they get to connect more naturally and feelings are caught."
"My favorite scene that shows the interpretation of them is when Mrs. Kennedy, Icarus' mother, tells them who they're named after. Icarus and Z start to reevaluate their feelings for each other. As for, do they become a couple or not? You just have to watch and find out."
"Is there any tension between Icarus and Z?"
"Yes, but you have to really analyze them. At first glance, it seems like they're just being besties but, they do have their moments."
"There's this one scene that's actually a flashback. Icarus and Z's first kiss and afterwards, you can see the moment where Icarus falls. Z, however, is a bit more complex. They spend more time training and plotting revenge on the High Table so, dating is like the last thing on their mind."
"But who knows? Maybe? maybe not?"

Posting a compilation of replies to Fandom Problem #5796.
Anon:
"Don't you think that minors would be more polite if..." No. No I don't. I was a minor in fandom. I also grew up at the dawn of the internet age and had internet safety pounded into my head from the age of 10 onward. If I interacted online at all outside of viewing and reading, I knew better than to be an asshole, because the internet has always been an adult sphere. I saw other minors get well deserved internet smackdowns for acting stupid online. If the kids are in actual kids spaces, then fine, leave them alone, that's their space. If they're on Xitter or Tumblr.com or A03 and acting the fool? No. You're in an adult space, interacting with adults, and those adults aren't there to cater to or coddle you. Which media the adult in question happens to like is irrelevant. You came into our spaces and started throwing a shit fit because you, a minor, didn't like what you, a minor, saw in our, adults, adult spaces. Most of the time we don't care if you're being cringe and having fun. Go, have fun, be cringe be free all that. Some kids are great and here to learn and have fun and are able to actually read the fandom room and know how to act like a respectable human while also having a good time. But if you're being antagonistic and hateful because you literally just are not mature enough to handle/comprehend what's going on in the space, then you don't need to be in the space at worst. At best, sit down, hush, and learn rather than running at the mouth about how you hate x y z thing because eww icky or you think it's problematic to your current pet social issue that doesn't even have anything to do with it. Kids are some of the biggest natural bullies out there. Kids being assholes to each other isn't just a trope, it's why secondary school/highschool was hell for so many people. Adults aren't all assholes, we're just better at calling kids out on their bullshit and don't have the patience for the "but I'm a minor" nonsense. Being a minor doesn't mean you're free from consequences, but some of y'alls parents clearly never taught you that. They aren't puritans, they're being idiots because they literally have no concept of fandom history and are just parroting nonsense that's been spoon-fed to them by other idiots. And rather than question things like anyone with critical thinking skills should be doing they take it all at face value and believe their own poor understanding or lack thereof is gospel, and everyone suffers for it, including other minors who also don't know better.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anon:
Fandom isn't just for minors though. Adults are allowed to be in fandoms even if it is uncomfy to minors. Adults are allowed to make NSFW of fictional characters in fandom if they want to. If minors don't like it, they can just ignore it. If minors want to be respected, they should also respect adults in fandom spaces. Complaints like "adults shouldn't be here" or "you are an adult, go get a job instead!" does not make you any better.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anon:
I agree with this tbh. Like adults are the ones making things unsafe for minors in fandom spaces. YOU are the ones who approach minors unprompted. Minors are just minding their own business in fandom, then you all come along and bother everyone.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anon:
I agree with this post, cause like... the ones doing the most harassing are adults. I am a minor, and it makes me feel unsafe in fandom spaces. Especially when I see adults drawing nsfw of characters who are MINORS! aging them up does not excuse that gross and creepy behavior. Just stop and give us a space where we don't get pushed into a corner and called annoying. Leave our fandom spaces!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anon:
When I was 17 so technically a technically still a minor I would have to keep my age off of all my blogs and accounts because so many other minors have ruined being younger in a fandom space. Literally just having my age up affected my numbers and how seriously I was taken. Y’all are not innocent though stop playing victim there are valid reasons why people don’t like you. Tons of younger kids these days are entitled overly sensitive and somehow both pretentiously “woke” and super disrespectful at the same time. So yea saying this as someone with pretty recent memories of being a minor online so many of you are actually insane and people not feeling comfortable around you is completely valid especially when you’re typing stuff like this up as your best defense. Especially with darker or NSFW stuff you don’t have to look we aren’t shoving down your throat you chose to be here just look away.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anon:
I see people getting mad about Fandom Problem #5796, but that kind of is just proving the point? You all act like the minors are the biggest problem in fandom, but you are the ones constantly inserting yourselves and making it about you. I see adults say things like: - "Fandom wouldn't exist without adults." - "Who do you think created fandom? Not minors!" - "Minors wouldn't have content if it weren't for adults." All are ignorant of the idea that minors are the foundation to fandom. Fandom would not exist if it wasn't for minors being interested in it and starting groups for people to join. Often times, the best artists and writers in the fandoms are THE MINORS. Adults make the space uncomfortable by inserting themselves and putting NSFW fics and art of minor characters. Then they get pissy when a minor points out it makes them uncomfortable and go "stop invading our space!" You are the ones trying to push minors out when we just want to have fun! Just leave us alone! -A minor
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anon:
Of course, 5796 has a corollary: "To the minors who constantly complain about adults in fandom being mean to them: don't you think adults would be more polite to minors if said minors didn't make fun of them, didn't treat them like shit everywhere they went, didn't blame them for all the problems on the internet, didn't publicly shame them for minor social faux pas, didn't call them "pedophiles" for anything from liking an icky ship to saying two words to a minor in passing to just existing peacefully in a space where a child might theoretically be present, and didn't try to gatekeep them out of fandom spaces that were literally made by and for them?? And don't give me that "well we just want to be safe! 🥺" Bs. Because if that were in any way true, then y'all would be listening to the safety tips that the adults are giving you, not using them as a scapegoat for anything bad happening in fandom and generalizing them as these eeeevil predators who just hate children." It doesn't matter what your age is; if you refuse to behave in a given space, then you won't be welcome in that space.

in re your post about therapy speak and ship wars, i THINK i agree from what I do understand, but i also dont know what therapy speak means? I looked it up and got this definition "Therapy speak is a colloquial term that refers to the use of psychological, therapeutic, or mental health language in everyday conversation. It can include terms like "boundaries," "abuse," "psychopath," and "trauma"."
So would an example of such be, "X ship is better than Y ship because X ship respects each others boundaries, but in Y ship they're a psychopath"? And then you know probably some added death/doxxing threats cuz ship wars.
Either way, yeah, ship wars dumb af, I just am dumb af too so I don't know what the post means. I also, fortunately, don't encounter much of therapy speak in my fandom spaces or online in general (proven by the fact that I had to look it up) as I just talk to people that I know and avoid the For You pages (which, plot note, are very often not For Me) so I'm lucky to avoid stupid opinions.
Thanks for answering if you do choose to, I know that at least several of the replies/responses to that post are likely stupid af, so I hope that my stupid af question is at least stupid af in a different way :) If I somehow have the wrong definition feel free to just link me to something that explains it better, because regardless it seems like a useful term to know!
not a stupid question at all.
so in the context of that post, abusing therapy speak refers to people who misuse terms like "narcissist" and "bipolar disorder" and "gaslighting" to suit their own personal tastes.
say for example, a character is arrogant and kind of haughty. if you don't like that character because people ship him with the character you like to ship with someone else, you insist he's a "narcissist" when he's you know. just arrogant.
and you say he can't be with her, because he's a narcissist and he has problems. that's problematic.
or say there's a female character you hate for having genuine human reactions to traumatic things. you'd say well I don't like her because she lets her obvious bpd hurt people instead of trying to fix her issues, she's so messy :(
and then if someone lies to another character, say their enemy, because they're fucking enemies, then you'd say oh he GASLIGHTS him, how could you guys ship this??? toxic ship???
so that's what that post refers to.
therapy speak as a whole, by definition, is fine because PTSD and depression and trauma do exist.
but in certain spaces, especially Twitter and TikTok and Tumblr of course, it's been weaponized as a tool to harass people who are fans of characters or ships that they themselves do not like.
which is ridiculous.
like you can say you don't like a ship without feeling the need to diagnose the two characters with whatever fun term your gen z therapist tossed at you that week.
you can say oh I simply do not like this character instead of oh he has an obvious mental illness and that's why I don't like him.
or you know.
he's a terrible representative of (insert illness) and that's why I don't like him-
bitch, we used to just not like things.
now it's like... oh this character is a psychopath.
let me read you a Wikipedia page on dsm-5 and explain that my personal preference is morally correct while yours is amoral.
that's why that post meant.

It feels like they lacked closure to be fair. Personally I don't ship them anymore, maybe the young versions though. But I do believe they need another meet up atleast.
I apologize, I probably didn't make myself clear. I ship Criston and Rhaenyra in fanfiction.
Show canon, with all due respect to any who disagrees with the following opinion. is dogshit. Every pairing depicted is inferior to GRRM's version or depictions you find in literal fanfiction I've read on the internet.
The writing is both biased and idiotic. Logic and emotional causality (x feels this way about y because of z) is thrown completely out the window for the writers to tell their own incompetent version of a story where emotional complexity is replaced with black-and-white emotional handholding where you're told what to feel and think.
This includes Criston's fallout with Rhaenyra. Instead of respecting his humanity and acknowledging Rhaenyra's betrayal of his trust, and vice versa, the writers paint him as villainous for respecting his own sexual autonomy and not wanting to be her side piece, feeling conflicted about breaking his vows (which in his own words is all he has to his name - and he's right, that's unfortunately the world he lives in), and for being bitter with Rhaenyra, instead of using these themes to explore what could've been exquisite character-and-political drama.
Everything about the show's so dumbed down for the masses that I honestly elect to ignore the show completely except when it comes to criticizing it, because goodness does it deserve to be criticized.
All of this is to say: I agree with you completely. They lacked closure and then some, and show canon Crisnyra is plain awful, simply because it doesn't even exist anymore. Which hurts because Milly's Rhaenyra with Cole had some of the sweetest scenes I ever saw on television. They were ADORABLE.
Yet Cole isn't anything more than an enemy of Rhaenyra now. Not once do we see her even think of what could've been or see so much as split-second look of regret or guilt or pain in Criston's direction - or the other way around. Hell, it doesn't even have to be positive - have them fucking curse each other out, but do it because they're hurt! Because they're human beings and gave a shit about each other and now they hate each other because they feel betrayed!
Instead we have Modern White-Woman Power Fantasy for mainstream TV audiences to Self-Insert and Ser Incel. Rhaenyra is now above feeling angry in any way that can be ugly (she should have bit Daemon's head off for Blood and Cheese, or ordered it herself in revenge for Luke), and Criston exists to be hated.
But honestly, if I went by the show, I would lose all motivation to write for this world and these characters. That's how boring I find it. And I certainly won't hold out hope for a meet up between them, much less a satisfying one. And that honestly depressed me to think about...
Oh well, guess I'll write my fanfics instead😊

Lari, I apologize in advance, but I really want to add to the discussion of writers supporting writers, because it makes my blood boil sometimes, lol, and I'm sorry if this gets long, and if i sound like a bitch but....
Okay, first off, interaction is important, period! Doesn't matter if you have no followers, if you are a writer with a few followers, or a writer with a lot of followers interaction is important, in every sense! And writers with a lot of followers should be VERY aware of that, because once upon a time, they were a smaller blog too, wishing for people to interact with their works.
Writers especially feed on the interaction, and especially seeing people's thoughts and opinions on their works, and that's where the comments and reblogs come into play!
One thing, that apparently, some big blogs seem to either forget, or not give a sh*t about anymore, because they are just too big now. People are interacting with their works, so they've made it, right? Wrong, because once again, your readers, and their interaction with your works made you big! So, instead of being high and mighty, return the favor by boosting the works you liked reading, written by smaller blogs! (Side note, I'm not hating on anyone, calling anyone out specifically, or etc. But I was a writer in another fandom once, and it was much the same, and it grated on my nerves then, and it's grating on my nerves now)
I was a writer that only used to like, when I was running my old blog, but on this one, reblog, reblog, reblog. Doesn't matter that I don't have a huge number of followers that can benefit from recs, I'm supporting the writer, and to me, that's the most important.
On the mutuals matter, I think you said it right. My works might not be my mutuals cup of tea, or theirs might not be mine. One thing i wanna add here, even if I have mutuals, who's works I don't read because x, y, z, every once in a while I'd reblog a work of theirs and be like "check out this person's works, they write great (character) fics". To me that's just a way to boost your moots, and who knows, maybe someone that follows you actually likes their works.
On indirectly being asked to read their stuff, I think there's nothing wrong with that, BUT! Like you said, if I'm going to support you, I'd expect you to support me too. It's not hard. I myself have asked others to read my works (on my old blog), but I've made sure to interact with them via asks, read and interact with their works, before and after asking! And not because I want to be transactional or anything, but because I genuinely enjoy their works, and asking them to read mine, yes, it might boost me up, but i just want to hear what some of my favorite writers think about something I've written. Later, those same people became my mutuals and I loved that we lifted each other up!
Finally, if some people aren't comfortable interacting, that's completely and totally fine!  What I wrote is for the writers, that honestly should know how tumblr and the community works, well enough to know that boosting people and interacting with people makes for a greater overall experience!
And to the anon that started this whole thing (if they are even reading this, lol), continue being supportive and interesting with the blogs you love, and the works you enjoy! If you still want to read the works of the writers you talked about, be a silent reader, lol. Like you said, they're doing fine! Devote your time and energy and interact with the people that will support you back, and are sweet and kind to you! And, be the person you are now, supportive, because it seems some writers tend to lose sight of where they came from when they grow, and to the ones that don't, you rock!
Again, I'm so sorry for this being so long, lol🥴 (also, if I'm being too bitchy, feel free to ignore and delete this, lol)
Tumblr media
i dont even have anything to add you said it perfectly
i love that you mentioned the transaction part because YEAH its not about being a transaction or anything of the sort, its about being reciprocal, and treating others works like you want yours to be treated
i genuinely love reading and helping so i dont mind at all when people ask for me to do that, i just feel like that if you enjoy either my fics enough for that, i should be seeing you reblogging or commenting my fics and the people (really, people, it happens quite frequently) i mentioned just never ever ever reblogged or commented on any of it 😭
i honestly thought i was exaggerating it but it seems its been happening to a lot of writers so
please, writers (especially if you complain about comments and reblogs)
be reciprocal

Lore Olympus is a lot like Twilight. There's Edward and Hades, two immortal beings eons older than their love interests and only actually like the idea they crafted in their heads about them, they're broody "sad bois" with no flaws who hate everyone ever and they're loaded as shit. Then there's Bella and Persephone, two unsympathetic, annoying, underaged, stronger-than-even-the-strongest-character, self-insert mary sues that everyone is in love with. X plot contradicts Y plot, Z plot is completely forgotten and the writing is just plain terrible. The main characters barely know one another and they're rushing to get married. They're both unbelievably racist, classist, have big bads that end up really not being a big deal like, at all, and the creator thinks they're the greatest thing since sliced bread. I have a separate tangent just about the vampires tbh. But then, there's their fandoms.
The Twilight fandom (or what remains of it) is more than aware that their chosen media sucks. They laugh at it, roast ReNameMe, write significantly better fanfiction than canon ever did, come up with fun theories, talk about how bad Bella and Edward are for eachother, simp for Charlie, and hear each other out on what they have to say. As far as I've seen, there aren't really any "antis" because everyone kind of just mutually love-hates Twilight. But the Lore Olympus fandom is so insanely different? They lose their minds if you so much as breathe wrong in H&P's direction, they think it's the most romantic thing in the world, and that it's accurate mythology? The slightest indication that Lore Olympus isn't good makes them froth at the mouth like a rabid dog and you get attacked from all directions by every stan in a hundred mile radius?
It's insane to me how two pieces of media that are so similar in their most basic form can have such dramatically different fandoms. Anyway Twilight stans are cool and LO stans need to chill the fuck out. Media can suck ass and people can enjoy it while criticizing it, the universe isn't going to collapse because someone doesn't like your chosen brain rot.
^^^^^ I'm admittedly not that familiar with twilight or it's fandom. so not much I can add to this.

daenerys, sansa, and arya are all so incredible, they’re so amazing, compassionate, kind, intelligent, and strong. i love all three of them so much and i honestly think that after some initial tensions they’ll all get along really well. the show did them all dirty, but they’re all incredible characters who deserve better. if grrm ever finishes the book i’m 100% positive they’re endings will be vastly different from the show.
In my universe, Sansa and Arya are Daenerys's right and left hand counsel. Arya does the ground work. She mixes with the common folk and finds out what's really happening and what they really need. Diplomat Sansa tests the noble waters, and says, "Okay, if we do X, we need to be careful not to do Y, because that will piss off House Z." They're the dream team that can save Westeros, but all you petty bitches want them to hate each other and want the ending all dark and doomy. Fuckin nerds, go take a walk in the park.

Whenever someone either says it loud, or posts in a comment section: "You can't ship them for X, Y, or Z reason," it makes me want to laugh until I pass out from the lack of oxygen.
Ships are (usually) between fictional characters. Who gaf if if they don't interact much? If they genuinely hate each other? If one of them canonically isn't into the other's gender? If the only reason why they're shipped is because people think they look aesthetically pleasing next to one another? That's not going to stop fanfiction writers, and rule 63 exists for a reason.
It's okay if certain things aren't your cup of tea, but that doesn't mean a person gets to dictate what types of ships people like.

I'm not starting a "ship war" with you, I promise
If your rebuttal to me is "you say you hate X and that he's an abuser but you ship him with Y instead of Z" fair, but consider:
SJM has left me with the slimmest pickings and my number 1 ship of almost every woman in the series is to go live their own life with little to no interaction with these men
My number 2 ships are almost all throuples and friends to lovers types. People that are actually nice to each other. So don't read 2 posts and think you know me.
And, hear me out, it is perhaps better only marginally to ship someone with someone else who hasn't abused them.
For Example.
I hate Cassian. I think he's a bitch who acts like an Incel and I am a stern Nessian anti. He abuses Nesta. I don't care that they're mates or that it's canon or that she forgives his actions. I don't care. I scroll past all their content and no matter how much I like the author I don't read their endgame fics - no matter what redemption is promised.
But Cassian in Lussian? Or Feyssian? Or with an Illyrian OC - is actually so interesting to me.
These things can exist at the same time.
And lastly, as always, me saying I prefer Rhysand x Amren or Elain to be alone as a garden witch or Nesta x Tamlin or Feyre and Lucien and Cassian to be a poly ship - literally none of that matters. If that's not for you, cool, scroll.
If you wanna talk about it, as long as you're civil I'm always willing to chat no matter how much we disagree.
But calling me names over fictional characters whose only real defining characteristics are their aesthetics, trauma porn backstory and their 2 personality traits is a waste of your time and mine.

happy wincest wednesday💖, today i give you the challenge of naming the 3 episodes that would be the hardest to write first time wincest for. and why. if you feel like explaining.
oooooooooooh coming out swinging with a tough one, okay, I see how we're playing this evening:
well the problem with who I am as a person is that I take anything like that as a Writing Challenge and start going, immediately, well but what if you did x y or z. But I will take it in the spirit meant and also not include any episodes where they're not in the same state or whatever bc that's cheating. So!
8.02 What's Up Tiger Mommy
Why? First of all, ooooh boy this episode. I mean, yeesh. Second: while I think you could go for first time wincest in the previous episode even with the immediate fight that ensues, this where we really start to lean into the episodes where we see how Off the boys are. They're getting along (mostly) in a superficial way but there's a real distance. Sam's defensive; Dean's pissed. At the same time, they're not stressed enough -- for real first time when they aren't in a 'liking each other' period, they need some breaking point moment that makes the transgression feasible. This episode doesn't have it. It does have a whole lot of 'arithmetic is the same thing as intelligence,' though!
9.13 The Purge
Why? Sam's cruel but he's not cruel, and even at his nadir of self-loathing there's a place beyond which I don't think Dean can go. Sam says some SHIT in this ep and Dean takes it because Dean's been taking these beatings as his due, but that last argument is a full-on evisceration, and for the characters to be in-character I just... can't see them taking that step, not then. Even if you did it where, idk, Dean got super shithoused drunk and decided Sam can't hate me any more than he does, can he? Let's see if he cares if I break this last boundary, I can't see Sam going for it. He'd be more likely to push Dean off in a sad/vaguely pitying way and tell him he was drunk. Up to you if it counts as first time, but there are some times that penises just shouldn't get involved, imo.
12.06 Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox
Why? It could happen immediately before, with Dean's radiating delight about killing Hitler (he killed Hitler! imagine Sam's eyerolling fondness!), and it could happen immediately after with Dean comforting Sam after Lucifer reveals his whole omnicidal maniac plan via Jesse's Girl Guy, but that weird blah of a funeral episode seems like a weird spot for me. First of all, way too many people around who know who they are, and who really know who they are. Plus, even if you want to be generous to the ep, its mood is (necessarily) elegiac and strange. They're seen as legends, not as people. Then of course their mother unfortunately shows, and in all the confusion of saving each other and her there's just no elbow room. And even in the space afterward once they've finally ditched her, after whatever breakfast of bacon and awkwardness, I feel like that space just isn't available. They've been too reminded of the social aspect of who they are and for good first time I feel like you need the isolation provided by a world of two. Get back to your lonely bunker, boys, and boink there.

X, Y, & Z!
lol hey just remembered that i had these from dec 19th lol i think i was just so mentally unwell at the time that i couldn't actually process the fact that i had asks and was capable of answering them even tho i literally reblogged the ask game lol anyways was going through my drafts and saw this and i'm MUCH better now so i went through and found the game and imma do it now <3
x - a trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.
hahhaahhaha character with an inferiority complex learning/being told that they're enough on their own/when those characters get in character content made of them ijuhygtfguiouygf because a lot of times they get misinterpreted or ignored </3 also. hanahaki <3
y - what are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?
OH! my number one secondhand fandom is wwdts thanks to @chasvchalilah <3 i have my Guy (colin robinson) and i feel like i basically know the whole plot thanks to shira and her incredible patience for all my questions and her kindness in telling me like. literally everything lol actually this reminds me i think the colin post shira tagged me in is in my drafts and that i actually forgot to reblog it. hm. gonna go find it after i post this lol also csm because grace watched it and i know it's not really a show that i'd like so i'm living it vicariously through them and moth and the other csm moots <3
z - just ramble about something fan-related, go go go! (Prompts optional but encouraged.)
ah this is dangerous omg okay oh gosh okay what do i choose okay so this is a very random thing to rant about, but it's fan-related so. but i lowkey hate in chatfics how writers always give characters different contact names. more often than not, i look at them and say "they would never choose that name" / "they would never name that person that" / "they would throw a fit if their name got changed to that" and like. it's just so irritating. i honestly think most blorbos would just call each other by their names in their contacts like. and if you're going to give them "silly" names (bc most times they just... aren't even funny to me personally), they don't even specify who is who! most of the time, i see them say something MAYBE at either the beginning or end of the first chapter and then usually never again even if the characters start changing each other's names! so it's just hard to keep up. i actually love chatfics and think they're such a cool idea and a great creative writing exercise, but they HAVE to be done right because they can go poorly/ooc SO quickly. not all characters use correct grammar, but some do. some will use capitalization and punctuation while others don't. some characters will use emojis or send memes and recite memes, OTHERS WON'T and you NEED to be able to figure this stuff out. also it is SO unrealistic for all the characters to constantly trauma dump because half these characters refuse to "show weakness" or don't know How to talk to people about what's wrong. oH AND ALSO not all characters are so unhinged in chatfics my God the way people write certain characters in how they text and what they text is so icky because it's just too unhinged we gotta stop giving characters that treatment ugh uh anyways also kenji is underused in the show and underrated by fans. there should be more kenji content. also unpopular opinion, but kenji is a more interesting character than chuuya and how does chuuya have like... 20k more fics in the chuuya tag than kenji has in his own tag? nothing against chuuya - i like him! i do! but why is he treated more like a main character than kenji:( maybe i'm just sad bc kenji is my favorite and barely has ANY content. there are SO few kenji-centric fics out there and a lot of them also are kenji & chuuya friendship which... admittedly, i LOVE but i feel like there's more kenji & chuuya than kenji & the ada members which is so sad??? also he deserves better in the show! smh he wasn't even in the s5 trailer (neither were junichiro and naomi ugh so upset about that) like pls. let everyone treat kenji more like an important member of the team bC HE IS😭

In this era of media adaptations and everything being a continuing IP rather than new concepts, I think it's really important for people to remember what that means.
When say, a TV show adapts a book series, you see a lot of complaints that "it's not true to the books/original! It's just fanfic!!" and, y'all, I hate to break it to you, but that's WHAT FANFIC IS.
It's a story written off of an existing story with existing characters and existing settings that the new author can tweak and alter as they see fit to help them tell the story they're writing. ALL stories written off of existing IPs are going to do this by virtue of the fact that they aren't a word-for-word copy of the starting point.
When new writers come onto comic book characters. When comic characters are put into different runs written by someone other than the og creator of the character. When comics are adapted to screen. When the same character is put in a different show. When books are turned into a tv show or movie. When a new story is written in an existing world to create an expanded universe.
ALL these things are 'fanfic' - or at least, operate under the same rules as fanfic. A new author coming on to write for a comic character is putting their own spin on them - they're switching up some aspects of the character, their setting, maybe even expanding/changing what their powers can do. Just because they don't copy exactly what the first author did (which would be impossible to do), doesn't mean that their interpretation of the character is 'wrong'. It just means it's different.
It's ok to like one characterization/story better than another - but that doesn't mean all the others are bad/wrong. It means they're different.
People are so precious with what they view to be the original and 'correct' version of things that even when the original author THEMSELVES alter things/expand on things, people complain that it's not the 'real' story and this new version 'doesn't count' or 'doesn't actually get the characters like you do'. [see: Star Wars and the Percy Jackson Disney show]
Fandom is a great thing, but I think sometimes people get so entrenched in their own favorite headcanon or version of the character/events/setting or analyze the hell out of a sentence the author meant nothing deeper by (by the author's own admission), and become so certain that their interpretation is the true way we need to view it and if you don't agree, you're bad and wrong and quite possibly cancel-worthy and if the new adaptation doesn't interpret the character/setting/dynamic the way they have decided it needs to be, then it's not a 'faithful' adaptation and therefore it's bad.
Authors grow and change and (usually) get better at their craft the more they write. They might look at a character they wrote 20 years ago and say 'wow, I had a lot of incorrect assumptions about x,y, or z/ I didn't do as much research as I should have/ this story structure wasn't thought through as much as I would think it through now, and given the chance, I'd like to fix some of the mistakes I think I made story/character wise if the story is going to be re-released in another format.' If you attached your own identity to one of the things the author is now changing, it can hurt, it can feel like a personal attack, but in the end, that version of events/of the character still exists and you can go back to them.
Growth and change is not a bad thing. Trying something new is not a bad thing. It's ok to prefer your interpretation of the 'og' material, but just...idk, realize that it is physically impossible for the person adapting the og material to adapt it EXACTLY like you've headcanoned it because, well, they're not you.
I guess what I'm really saying is that every single person is going to interpret a story in their own way. They're each going to see a different 'most important' thing in it. They're each going to attach themselves to a different aspect (real or interpreted) of the character/story. They're each going to see a different part as 'you can't change this' or 'this is saying 'x' but I think doing it 'y' way will get 'x' across better' - and YOU might not agree that whatever it was was saying 'x' and so 'y' way won't work for what YOU viewed the og scene was saying because you thought the og scene was saying 'm' NOT 'x'! (that got convoluted, sorry)
So when you see a continuation of an IP you love and it's not a carbon copy of the 'original', take a deep breath, remember that these are all just stories, everyone writing them are individuals, and you can dislike the new interpretation OR you can like the new interpretation better than the og one. It doesn't mean someone 'did it wrong' or that one or the other shouldn't exist. It's all ok.
Let John Constantine do flashy magic. Let Matt Murdock be a devout Catholic. Let Percy, Annabeth, and Grover not fall face-first into the most obvious traps. Let Lan Mandragoran show some emotion. Let Luke Skywalker struggle with finding his way after Return of the Jedi. Let Jesper and Wylan get together immediately instead of having a slow burn.
Do you have to like all these interpretations? No. But learn to be able to critique them for what they are - an interpretation you don't like - rather than an objective 'that's not what it's supposed to be'.

SHIPPING INFO // ANSWER THE FOLLOWING FOR YOUR MUSE SO PEOPLE KNOW HOW SHIPPING WORKS ON YOUR BLOG. Tagged by: @witchcraftandburialdirt (❤) Tagging: I have no idea whose been tagged or not HERHW
WHAT IS YOUR OTP FOR YOUR CHARACTER?
Because I have so many muses I'll only say the ships I do really enjoy between them. There's a lot of ships I really like, but the only real otps I have are:
- Danny and Robin: They're single shipped in a few au's public and private just because they're both so connected and have so much development. Egg's been a joy to help develop Danny further and letting me explore just how awful he is as a person despite how goofy he is as a character. I'm really excited to treat his modern verse like he's in Roseville and the parody paper dragging up emotions he thought he killed a long time ago. - Tarhos and Haru: How much can I say about these two without writing a novel? I'm a slut for found family and healthy explorations of trauma and these two really are just that. Of course they have their tragic verses like Tarhos's main verse (Haru's medieval) where they're both seen as animals to varying degrees and they don't get a happy ending. Modern they do, but I also enjoy the whole cosmic "You and I are always destined to meet" thing they have going on especially with Tarhos's fallen angel and Haru's primordial verse. They just have me by the throat-
HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?
I'm honestly of the opinion that if it's not predatory like someone clearly more mature who only likes "young" x, y or z it's fine. I write a few older muses, I write muses that are well beyond human comprehension in age, but age gaps happen it's not really something people actively think about. The largest age gap I have in a ship is 12 years between Haruko and Tarhos, but that's fine.
HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY ARE CONSIDERED NSFW?
I think once the kissing starts getting too handsy is when I typically put it under cut. I like writing smut, but I know it's not everyone's favorite thing so I try to be considerate of dash and tag it appropriately.
ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?
I'm pretty selective and I think I'm pretty open about that? I like muse chemistry, I like things that I can build off of and write effectively. Even if it's something extremely silly I genuinely prefer to " and relationships that aren't just "oh they're both hot throw them at each other". I've also had really bad interactions in the past that have put me off of cishet ships, so it's harder for me to get into those especially with my muses.
WHO ARE OTHER CHARACTERS YOU SHIP YOUR CHARACTER WITH?
- Ghost Myers: I can't even really explain why I like this one so much. It's so goofy and stupid and charming. I write it mainly on discord now and days, but I enjoy it so much. It's either absurdly sweet for two horrible people to be together or just so fucking stupid and non-serious. There is no in between. It's fun. - Tarhos and Vittorio: How long can you spend time with someone who embodies the ideals you hate just out of sheer ignorance alone, but when he touches you you can't help, but melt. How many times can he excitedly talk about philosophy and history, both things you were never of the privilege to even think about studying before you start to get annoyed, but then he starts talking about a better place where you to can be together and you can't help, but fall in love again. But... as things get messier and messier the first person to ever start treating you like a person starts to become someone you hate and loathe to be around and you know from the way he touches you and speaks so softly it's one-sided. Why doesn't he hate you like you hate him? That's what I love about that ship- beaming t4t propaganda directly into your head
DOES ONE HAVE TO ASK TO SHIP WITH YOU?
Yes!! Please ask!! I have muses that are extremely flirty like Aita and Luanne to an extent, so I'd like it if people asked. Communication is something very important to me as a person.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SHIP IN YOUR CURRENT FANDOM?
Tarhos and Vittorio- do not look at me do not perceive me I am a slut for divorce eras.
FINALLY, HOW DOES ONE SHIP WITH YOU?
Literally just ask if you think there's chemistry, the worst I'll say is no, but in all likelihood I'll just say "Let's feel it out", I try to be as open as possible and mutuals can dm me for my discord since I know how awful tumblr ims are.

💮💮Heyyy, I have a really annoying pet peeve in romance fanfiction and wanted to know your opinion.
So I really hate it when the author goes like "x characher was in love with y character" despite them not even being friends?!?
And then they continue on to say that how x character was jealous and insecure about z character (who is presumably a hot person).
Although I don't see it as impossible, I dislike it when the pacing is too fast like, how can you be in love with someone who your not even friends with. You don't even know the person on a surface level basis, like how???
And from my understanding of love, it stems from feelings of trust, deep understanding and such, it seems like the author is describing a crush but framing it as love just cause they were too lazy to go in depth about how they were strangers to friend to pining idiots to lovers u know?
And I'm not saying all fics should go into every little detail about x and ys relationship, but at least make them friend (so the reader does the imagining) or just take the easy route and go x just had a crush. Idk am I just too sensitive abt these thing?
Alo remember to drink water and eat, our favourite author needs to stay healthy
_ stay safe, flower anon💮💮
YOOOO WE ARE ON THE SAME BIG BRAIN WAVELENGTH WHEN IT COMES TO PET PEEVES
i think this, in part, stems from romanticizing... romance, if that makes sense. as in, being enamored with the tropes of love/romance/falling in love/heavily cliched "love at first sight" premises, etc. when most of what we see in popular media just... isn't realistic or even relatable to the average person who has been in love
you can have a CRUSH on someone if you don't know them well. you can have immediate sexual or physical attraction to a complete stranger (i mean, that's what porn is, right?), you might even feel jealousy over this person being around others (this one is a toxic trait linked heavily with insecurity and immaturity, in general), etc.
but no, i don't believe in any kind of "love at first sight" mantra that many fics and headcanons unfortunately fall into because it's bullshit and not real lol. it's one thing i guess to... write about 😍😍😍 this fairytale-esque idea of just KNOWING you're in love with this person you barely know. maybe the "mysterious stranger" appeal is in there somewhere, or the "they're so cool/unapproachable/popular that i'd never have a chance, so i'll just fantasize an imaginary version of them in my head that seems like my perfect match in every way and then project that onto the REAL character/person who might not really act like that at all, destroying the fantasy"
y'know, like that!
the horrible pacing is also annoying. i mean... there's a reason my fic is fucking 500k words at this point and uhhh for 3/4 of that, "love" was not in the mix. this is kiiiiinda why scenarios where they start off as just barely knowing each other or friends-of-friends or polite coworkers or something tosses me for a loop when all of a sudden things go from 3 to 99 really fucking quickly with like, zero buildup or anticipation.
but its also people writing what they want for free on the internet that's, in most cases, completely self indulgent and less for us as content consumers and more as "i wanna write this thing" where real scenarios have little say (i have a *thing* against yandere/abuse/really imbalanced power dynamics/age gaps being romanticized and easily publicly accessible because it can and does give the wrong impression about certain situations that put irl people in danger. there's def those ppl out there who will see a stalking/obsession/controlling dynamic in a fic and think it would be awesome to have someone obsessed with them, some kind of dream come true... and like yes! those types of kinks do exist! and can happen SAFELY with CONSENTING ADULTS who are into that! but not everyone (esp minors, no offense, sorry) who stumble on this kind of thing might be able to distinguish between consenting kink and romanticizing abuse)
.... that got OFF TOPIC but its still important lkajsl;kfjaf ANYWAY-
yeah. basically, i agree and it's annoying lol but it's best to just don't read/block if you run into it and move onto things you DO enjoy reading
i did drink a lot of wooder today and i made a yummy creamy tuscan chicken recipe for dinner 😤
thanks flower anon 💮

I 100% agree about wanting more fanfic lists! I honestly think it's the best way to get a variety. Everybody has personal preferences, if someone, who mostly reads long, fluffy au Brio fic, is making recs, they're not likely to mention short, angsty, canon Brio (which is understandable and fair!) so ideally someone else, who does like those, would also do recs. I'm pretty sure I've read or at least tried the vast majority of Brio fics, but the recs often make me re-read the fic and author.
YAAASSSS!!! I mean like, okay, I v much get why people have issues with rec lists, and I def do not by any stretch endorse the idea that recs/rec lists should be considered anything other than one person sharing a think they liked, but to me a lot of the issues (the same fics/authors getting recced, feeling like awesome fics/authors are going unrecognized) can be solved by more reccing, not less. everyone’s got different taste and different stuff they look/read for and I am extremely pro sharing that.
Idk, I think about it like this: in a previous internet life I was a YA book blogger and I lived and died by recs from other bloggers whose taste and preferences I knew. I mean, you know, I’d check out a book bc the premise sounded interesting but literally the first thing I would do was go to Goodreads and look for a handful of people who tended to like the same books I did and see what they were saying about it bc that was the best way to get a good idea of if I wanted to give it a shot. Or, on the flip side, there were some people whose reviews I followed bc I knew we v much did not read for the same things so if they hated a book for X, Y and Z reasons, I was probs going to like it (one thing about book blogging is if you want to keep current, you do not have a lot of time to mess around, snap judgements are key but that’s a whole other thing and idk if it’s even relevant anymore bc that landscape has changed so much).
ANYWAY, the point is, I got in the habit and now I do the same thing with fic bc, tbh, I don’t have a ton of time to read, esp not when I’m actively writing which, with the exception of the last week or two, I’ve been doing p non-stop since I got here. All of which to say is, I am desperately in favor of fic recs for purely selfish reasons, I need them! Give them to me!!! Please!!!!!
That said, I uh, am v bad at returning the favor and I recognize that (I think I’ve made what? two rec lists for this fandom?) so I will try to do better to live by my own, idek what this is, moving on and here are 10 recs not really thematically linked by anything other than I’ve read them and loved them and don’t think I’ve put any of them on one of my rec lists yet (and if I have, my blog is a trainwreck I cannot be expected to remember what’s on it LET ME LIVE):
The Goodest Boy by EnsignDisaster
There’s a key turning in the lock and Buddy rushes over to greet his Master excited for her to meet his new friends. The door opens and he dances around Master’s feet rejoicing on the fact that she’s made it home. It's been literally forever.
“Hey Buddy what’s wrong? Need to go potty? Need to pee-pee?”
“Nah he’s good we took him out.”
Master does something very unMasterlike, she drops all the food she’d brought in on the ground and screams. It’s a non traditional avant garde type of hello…Buddy loves it. Mostly because while Master taps furiously on her small light box and sits tense in the corner opposite his new friend Buddy can lick up the egg smashed on the hardwood floor.
Buddy! The! Dog! POV! no further explanation necessary. Technically WIP, but it covers the whole pilot in a way that could be read as standalone (THOUGH THAT WOULD V MUCH GIVE ME A SAD though, when did the show forget the Bolands had a dog? so maybe that’s a tragic casualty of canon, idk)
May The Moon’s Silvery Beams by @pynkhues
Emma hums in agreement, and Rio turns her around to sit her on the counter, grabbing one of the older looking boxes of muesli while she kicks her legs out, heels bumping back against the counter, watching him. He gropes around the inside of the box, finally just opting to pull the plastic cereal bag out and peering inside. He can’t quite keep the grin off his face when he sees the wad of cash lining the bottom. This woman kills him, she really does.
Then there’s a little face peering up beside him, trying to peek into the box.
“What is it?” she asks, and he tilts the box sideways so she can see inside.
The upside to not getting here until s3 is that old fic is new to me! Huzzah!! Idk how many of y’all have already read this on but if you haven’t I highkey recommend. Extremely cute take on what if Emma woke up when Rio and came by to collect his/Beth’s/whoever's money during the shutdown. Cannot believe I’m reccing kidfic. Witchcraft!!!!!!
Maybe You’re My Fantasy by ohmisterjapan
He fucking loves the involuntary. It speaks to how he likes to unlock chaos and walk away. He's been called a control freak before and it felt like such a misunderstanding of him - he's all about self control but he doesn't want to control others. It's more that he enjoys revealing to them how little they can control themselves. It's more that he likes to stand still in the eye of someone else's storm and pick coldly through the wreckage.
Another oldie but a goodie. This fic is more like an extended character study (first chapter Rio POV, second chapter Beth) and I LIVE FOR THIS KIND OF SHIT. I really really really love the take on both characters, it really digs in and pulls out some nuances that made me sit and think about my own read of them and I love it.
A Shock Of Blue by mintletters16
“You don’t look very well. Would you… like me to get you a glass of water or something?”
Her voice is low but smooth, laced with a softness that cuts straight though to his core. Strawberry blonde locks fall gently just above the pair of magnets freezing him in place.
He can still feel the chaos tearing through his veins - emanating from the gold plated gun stuffed in his waistband - and suddenly he can’t be here anymore. Can’t meet this wide-eyed gaze that’s been locked on his for the past God-knows-how-long anymore.
Can’t see blue alive and concerned when he just left it cold and void somewhere in oblivion.
She’s looking at him like he’s on the brink of madness. He thinks maybe he is.
Apparently, it’s backlist rec day over here and I’m not sorry. This one is another technical WIP but the chapter works as a standalone (BUT if the author decided to return to it I WOULD NOT BE MAD). It’s a what if Beth and Rio met pre-canon and it works so!!! well!!!! The tension and fascination and build are all *chef’s kiss* plus the writing is gorgeous and lyrical and ugh, I love it.
for a moment we were strangers by openhearts
“We got stuff,” Rio motions with a nod to the backpack Beth hadn’t noticed when they arrived hanging on the back of one of the chairs at the island.
She swallows and turns back to the dishes, realizing Rio apparently means to sleep there , assuming the place isn’t bugged.  Or for some kind of cover story if it is.  She turns and fixes Rio with a narrow-eyed stare, studying his face, the corner of his jaw especially prominent from the angle she’s looking up at him.  He’s methodical about drying each dish and setting it back on the rack, maddeningly ignoring her hard stare, so when he goes to take the next plate from her hands she grips it tightly and gets his attention.
“Hey.”
“What you on about now?” he asks, irritated.
It gets her gut uneasy, how he’s just . . . there, settling in, in ways he never had before, no matter how nonchalantly he would let himself in through her locked doors.
“This is,” Beth tries, failing, to find words for it, “. . . it’s weird .”
This one takes place post 204 and Rio and Marcus end up spending a long weekend staying with Beth and Emma for reasons (that work, for the record, I’m just not trying to summarize rn) and it’s domestic and cute but honestly my fav part of it is how weirded out Beth is by how easily they slip into sync. The story does an excellent job balancing where they are in canon (uneasy post-sex truce) with a snapshot of what they could be if they got over themselves (HA! as if) and Beth is DEEPLY FREAKED which makes her slow slide into realizing she could maybe sort of kind of oh shit like it/him??? that much more satisfying.
Not So Careful by @bensonstablers
When he doesn’t answer, her eyes go to his but he’s too busy watching the letter opener which is still pressed against the back of his hand. Curiously, Beth runs it up his arm, careful not to press too hard, and smiles a little as he shivers. Pulling her leg up onto the bed, she shuffles closer to him before pressing the tip of the sword to his chest and slowly circling his left nipple with it, being sure not to get too close.
“You ain’t gotta be that careful.”
And when she lifts her eyes to meet his, he’s got that look. The one that always makes a lump form in her throat and for her to fall back into bed with him without a single thought of what they have to do that day. Only thing is, this time they’ve got nothing to do for the rest of the weekend and well, staying in bed the entire time had seemed like an appealing idea so she allows herself to give in a little to that look.
It makes me EXTREMELY SAD that knifeplay ranked so low on the kink survey so I’m gonna need y’all to check out this V V V EXCELLENT example of it and come back and tell me you’re sorry and you voted wrong. I am v reasonable what are you talking about.
love (where it wasn’t supposed to be) by @lilliloves
"You know what I can't stand?" Rio asks, stepping closer. It's a rhetorical question but he pauses for a second and watches Dean sniff, watches a bead of sweat trickle down his forehead, watches him shift on both his feet as he contemplates making a run for it.
"A guy who don’t realize how good he's got it." Rio continues, looking Dean up and down in disgust. "A guy that will literally fuck up a good thing just to get his dick wet."
"Yeah, well I can't stand a guy who can have anyone he wants but chooses the married woman he's not entitled to.” Dean shoots back. "And I really can't stand the fact that you're always in the room with us even when you aren't there."
And who brings him into the room Dean hmmmmm????? Jk, jk (or am I). In this one Rio catches Dean out on the town with another woman (bc of course he is) and tries to call him out but whoops! gets called out himself. I really love the like, idk, undercurrent of wistful regret in this fic. I love Dean straight up calling Rio out on his feelings (spoilers but there’s an exchange right after this one that made me straight up holler), and, you know, obvs I am here for Rio making Dean feel like an ass.
Hell Is Other People by makemanybraver
Rio: We're in Hell, Elizabeth! If you don't think you belong here, then repent! Don't fuck everyone in the room in hopes that you get to go out!
Beth: Why do I have to repent?!
Rio: Because you did some fucked up shit in your life, Elizabeth! You keep doing fucked up shit here, too! And you think you don't belong here!
Beth [screaming at the top of her lungs]: Because I don't!
This fic is existentially bonkers and I love it. It’s the kind of experimental format/homage/what have you kind of thing that I L O V E. Based on No Exit by Jean-Paul Sartre, Beth, Rio, and Fitzpatrick are stuck together in a room in hell for all eternity. What more do you need, honestly.
Working On Things by odenkirk
Unknown Hold up, Elizabeth. I'm really thinkin about you here.
Beth turned her face into the pillow, effectively suffocating herself for a moment, but thinking it was a good trade off for the way the cool silk of her pillowcase chilled her skin.
She lifted her head to glance at the still sleeping Dean before replying.
Beth I'm thinking about you too. But this can't happen.
She wanted him to know she wanted him, but she also thought that admitting she was already there would save Rio from trying to convince her. She wanted him, but morals had to win just once in a while.
YES this is technically Beth/Dean while also being Beth/Rio BUT it’s also sort of Rio/Dean and I am HERE FOR THE DIVERSITY OF SHIPPING leave me alone who asked you.
Five Times He Knew What She Was Thinking, and One Time He Didn't by JoeyLee
Aight, so tell ‘em I was hittin’ it. Said deliberately blunt, eyes locked on her face the whole time, just to see those blue eyes widen. She looked so shocked that he almost laughed, so he softened it teasingly just to keep her going. Oh, I’m sorry, sweetheart, tell ‘em we were makin’ love.
Then he just watched her, just watched her face, just fucking fascinated. Her lips were parted and her eyes were big as saucers, and…there it was. Before she could look away flustered, he watched the thought go through her mind. Him and her together.
He wondered what she was picturing or where. Them in the back seat, her bed, a motel?  Her on top or him from behind or his face between her legs?
Whatever it was, the blush started immediately, and he watched it bloom out from her cheeks to her hair. Then she was tearing her eyes away to gulp a little.  But it didn’t knock her down for long before she was looking back. And then, wait, was she actually asking him how to go about telling a fed they were fucking?
Okay this is another technical WIP but works as a standalone. I am absolutely fucking feral for character POV takes of canon scenes and this is a supremely excellent take on Rio POV of some notable scenes from the pilot through 204. Imo it brilliantly captures Rio’s voice and I love it a lot.
HEADS UP I am absolute shite at tracking ao3 to tumblr unless people have specifically told me someone’s ao3/tumblr name SO if you recognize any of the non-tumblr authors on please lmk so I can tag them and YES I recognize that I am asking y’all to do things for me throughout this entire post and I’M SORRY OKAY I’M A WHOLE ASS MESS LOVE YOU BYE
