what AI app/program do you use for the Gilded Constellations art?

Well, it hasn't been only one, I've actually used a couple of different apps/resources to make all the art for GC so far.

For these kinds of images, and this one I've only recently discovered, it's Bing's image creator. It's free, and it does exactly what you ask of it. It's also incredibly good at doing its job. Although I wish it had a feature that allowed me to change specific things from one picture in particular, but I end up doing that in post-production either way (on these images I made Sirius and Lily's lips smaller, changed Remus' hair colour and gave him some more bruises).

For the character looks and casting, I've used Talkie most of the time, it's a CharBot App, but it lets you create art with the bot creation tool, and I absolutely love the styles it comes up with. (But if you actually want to chat with bots, then go to Character.ai their bots are much more clever).

And lastly, I've been toying with Midjourney too, now this one isn't free, it's like 10 USD a month. And with this one, I've made these pictures. It's incredibly good at hyper-realistic stuff and aesthetic backgrounds, but it's kinda bad at following instructions in comparison to Bing or Dall·E-3. For example, I will ask for a dog and a fox in the same picture and it would straight up forget the dog altogether. Still, I like the aesthetic stuff I can create with it, it's easier than scrolling through Pinterest for hours trying to find the right thing to use a header.

Disclaimer: I know the position of some people against AI art. I understand your point of view and I know it's a very delicate subject for artists. I love art, in all shapes and forms and if I had the resources to do it, I would 100% commission artists to draw every single one of my headers (I have commissioned artists in the past before), but guys, I don't have nearly half as much money to do that, and I've always dreamed of getting fanart of my works. This is my way to fulfil the dream with my own AI-made fanart. It's insane to see my characters come to life like they do in these pictures, it brings me joy. And I'm sorry if it makes you uncomfortable, but I see potential in AI, not just in image creating, but in other apps like chatbots, music bots, photo editing bots and even chat gpt. And it might be because I'm a geek, but I want to use these new, incredible tools, in the most ethical way possible, which is why I always use disclaimers.

Barns of the TCT

On the Camino it was the old doors that asked the questions and let you imagine the stories of days gone by. On the TCT it was wooden barns that played a similar role. These barns are the statues of some of the original settlers of Canada and represent the lives and hard work of the settlers of the country. You might say that the character of the Trans Canada Trail was shown off in the beautiful old barns.

RÉ: That’s right, everyone, we’ve got a very special guest today! All the way from the front, it’s General Anakin Skywalker!

AUDIENCE: [applauds wildly]

SKYWALKER: [walks out, looking bashful and a bit overwhelmed] 

RÉ: Welcome, General Skywalker! It’s so good to have you here.

SKYWALKER: Thank you, Raché. I’m . . . surprised to be here. 

RÉ: So are we! 

AUDIENCE: [laughs]

RÉ: It’s not every day we have a general on the show. But it’s our audience who helps us select our celebrity guests, with their nominations. And there were just so many nominations that came in for you!

SKYWALKER: A lot of those came from my men. When they told me what they had done, they said it would be good for morale. And really, I didn’t want to disappoint them.

RÉ: [laughs along with the audience] Well, either way, you’re here now! What are you going to cook for us, General?

SKYWALKER: I thought I would do a bantha stew. This is something I like to cook for my w--for my men after a battle. So--so we start with this cut of bantha. We all know that bantha is pretty tough, so it takes time to make this stew. But you’ll get something really mouth-watering after that time. 

RÉ: Definitely! So you’ve got your bantha. What else? 

SKYWALKER: I like to chop the bantha and then brown it, in some oil. 

RÉ: Good old EVOO! 

SKYWALKER: [smiles at her] Yes. [shows the camera the sizzling meat] Doesn’t that look good already?

AUDIENCE: [claps]

SKYWALKER: So while that’s browning, I want to prepare the other stew ingredients. I chop whatever vegetables I have on hand. Potatoes, charbote roots, celonslay--anything works. 

RÉ: Any kind of root vegetable would work great in this recipe. 

SKYWALKER: Yes, Raché. I put all the vegetables in this pot, where there’s some bantha stock already simmering. And now I add in the chopped bantha cubes. 

RÉ: It already smells amazing. 

SKYWALKER: [gives her a smile] Just wait until we add the herbs. Since I’m not on the front right now, I can use what I like best: rosemary, garlic, onions, and cayenne. 

AUDIENCE: [ooohs in surprise] 

RÉ: Cayenne?!? Wow, this stew’s gonna have a kick!

SKYWALKER: I really like spicy, flavorful food. Also, if I have one tip to share with everyone: whatever amount of garlic a recipe calls for, double it, at least. 

RÉ: You all know how much I love garlic!

AUDIENCE: [laughs and claps]

SKYWALKER: So I put the rosemary sprigs right in, and add the cayenne. You’ll want to chop the onions, and mince the garlic. [demonstrates, neatly chopping and mincing]

RÉ: You could be a professional chef!

SKYWALKER: [blushes] I just--really like to cook for people. 

AUDIENCE: [awwwwws]

RÉ: [smiles] What next?

SKYWALKER: Well, with all the meat, the vegetables, and the herbs, I just let the stew simmer for a few hours at least. I’ll check on the pot, to see if the bantha has become tender, and once it does, it’s time to eat.

RÉ: [brings out another pot] This version has been simmering since this morning, so let’s try it! [ladles out a bowl for herself and for Anakin, then moves the pot so a crew member can start dishing up stew for the audience]

SKYWALKER: [watches Raché try it]

RÉ: Oooh, the cayenne really elevates this! It takes your standard comfort food and makes it into something special. 

SKYWALKER: [smiles widely] 

CAMERA: [shows reaction shots of the audience enjoying the stew]

SKYWALKER: I’m glad you’re all enjoying it!

Day 6 - Sharbot Lake to Perth - 42 km

Trail: Mostly flat

Last night I stayed at the Charbot Lake Inn. It's on the lake with beautiful views, a dock, kayaks, and a BBQ. I cooked my own steak for dinner. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. There is a pub next door, but it was closed. I tried to stay at the Rock Hill B&B, but it was full. Both are recommended.

I stopped to take a picture of this turtle and immediately noticed that the air was filled with sounds. The marsh was alive with the sounds of bullfrogs croaking, birds chirping, the pecking of woodpeckers, the flutter of ducks. I saw flowers, bees pollinating flowers, birds flying in all directions, and trees that have died and fallen, creating a very creative landscape. I have been riding through marshes every day of my ride and only today did I notice this beauty. I need to slow down and smell the roses. Apparently something I forgot when I lost my sense of smell.

I noticed a lot of markings along the trail. I finally concluded that it must be turtle nesting time and that the trailside mounds were nests. That would explain the turtles along the trail. Also interesting was the fact that turtles climb up a steep hill about 10 m to the location of the nest.

The trip was only 42 km but there were no restaurants between Charbot Lake & Perth so I packed a second breakfast and snacks.

The trail was good today and once I reached the start of the Tay-Havelock Trail (about 15 km from Charbot Lake) the trail became much better. The trail wandered past lake after lake with the odd marsh and wooded area. Definitely lots of opportunity to cool off on a hot day. Interesting sites included a deer on the trail, a giant beaver dam and a number of 100+ year old wooden barns.

Perth is a quaint little town with beautiful old stone buildings, parks, a coffee roastery, a couple craft breweries and some cool restaurants. There's even an opportunity to splurge at the Parkside Spa + Salon.

Tomorrow is Day 7 of my journey and it will be my day of rest.

FFxivWrite2018 Prompt 6: Beginnings

Teenagers kiss in this one. It’s entirely unerotic, don’t worry. There’s also violence and homophobia from the young and stupid.

“Given it up, filthy pirate! We’ve got you outnumbered and surrounded! You’re no match for the Twin Adders’ finest!” The taller of two elezen boys shouts his threat out while the pair close in on their target, each wielding training lances a bit bigger than they can truly manage. “Surrender now and you’ll get a fair trial and a swift execution!” The pale youth they were shouting at’s grin spreads ever wider through the process, it was her third favorite part of the game after all.

“My only crime is livin’ free of the tyranny of the law! Just ‘cus you’d rather lick boots than stand on your own ain’t any reason for me to turn myself in!” Though only in her fourteenth summer, the sea wolf was already a physically imposing creature. She towered over both her male ‘assailants’ and already had a frame broader than the elezen were ever likely to develop. That freakish size was no small part of why they were happy to let her always play the villain. Not that she minded, pirates were always the hero in her version of the story anyway. “Besides, I’m thinkin’ you might want to be careful with them words, if’n you don’t want your girl to be a head shorter.”

Reaching behind the tree she was standing so close too, the young roe pulls a fourth teen into the scene; an elezen girl in a dress far too nice to be playing out in the woods and her hands very loosely wrapped in rope in a mockery of being bound. “Ser Charbot! Please! You must save me!” Each word was given with a mockery of enthusiasm only fit to trick the likes of the young or foolish. Thankfully her audience was very much both. After all, they wanted to play ‘knights of the Adders’. “Don’t let her cut off my head! I need that!”

“Lady Shifant!” The boy was better at acting shocked, but admittedly he’d drug her into these games a bit less than happily. Anything to get her to spend less time just sitting around doing boring girl things. The tip of that blunted wooden lance points directly at the grinning sea wolf’s heart as she lays one of the heavy sticks she wields like swords at the elezen girl’s neck. “Forget the trial! You die this day, miscreant!” He and his cohort drop into stance to come charging in, but leave a window open for Brem to get in her retort first. Because that’s how it always works in the stories.

“A shame that the Adders will have to go recruit more lackies to replace you too! More wasted souls.” She’d gone mostly to script up to this point, but there was a thought crawling it’s way up from the back of her mind. A natural instinct against doing what’s expected offering it’s alternative. “Though a good pirate never turns down a chance for a token of good luck..” And with that she presses the sort of spectacularly terrible kiss one masters early. Truly an offense written in spit and tongue to anyone even passingly familiar with the art of smooching. Her partner was entirely too shocked by having kissed another girl to do anything about it, but ‘Ser Charbot’ was fuming.

“What in the FUCK Brem? THAT’S GROSS! GET OFF MY GIRLFRIEND!” His charge turns from a playing mockery to a true assault, driving the broad, blunt end of his lance right into the roe’s chest. The wind rushes out of her even before she lands on her back with a thud and a groan, not finding her footing nearly fast enough to stop the first elezen from leaping on her chest and raining fists down upon her. His girl is locked in a stunned state, but his friend at least came over and held Brem’s legs down to make sure his buddy didn’t get killed when she got free. “GIRLS DON’T KISS GIRLS IN GRIDANIA! YOU FUCKING LIMSAN FREAK!” Each word was paired with another slam of fist against the young woman’s head, never really making an opening for her to throw the boy off.

There’s several minutes of the tirade and beating before ‘Lady Shifant’ starts to pull at her date’s arm, pleading with him to stop ‘before he gets into big trouble’. Eventually either his temper starts to wane or her words break through, and he gives a parting spit onto the new bruised and bloodied face of the would-be pirate. “Next time you want to kiss a girl or pretend to be a man or whatever the fuck that was, go find you one of the poacher cat sluts and leave the good, upstanding girls of Gridania out of your perversions.” Apparently to make sure she laid a little while longer, he dropped a hard boot into the side of the roe’s ribs before the trio started off back to town, leaving the battered Brem laid out alone.

The young sea wolf’s swelling was going down a little now that it’d been a couple of days, but she was still spending almost all of her time in bed. She’d been scolded for fighting again, but seeing as she had clearly lost despite her claims otherwise, Pop had taken a bit easier on her than he would have otherwise. No grand punishments beyond being on popoto peeling duty for a week after she was feeling better. She was about to flop back over and go about plotting the extravagantly detailed revenge murder of two elezen boys when her father poked his head into her and her sisters’ room. “Brem, you’ve got company. It’s the Shifant girl, says she wants your help practice. Want me to send her away?” The pale girl’s eyes widen and she raises up swiftly in bed.

“No! No, Pop. Tell her I always got time to help.”
