in Gangotrī i screamed for the Lord (excerpt) | the Monsoon One and the pilgrim | téa nicolae
(..) my cheeks, full in lilies my mind, anointed by the half-moon bathing the Śivling
i walked and walked and walked hungry for a glimpse of your feet
at crossroads my torturous One of Monsoon devised a game:
i felt his lips hovering on my hair, hands, and eyelids yet when i turned my mouth to claim my longing i could only kiss a devious scent of lotus
the empty air and a devious scent of lotus
after ten, twenty thirty turns and one hundred and eight hot tears the mountain road came to a halt
you, nowhere to be found. only a devious scent of lotus.
a perfume so deceitful that when the milky ocean was churned in the first aeon the asuras did not taste nectar for they chose not the elixir but the conch streaming it instead
last crossroads in sight, i screamed
ENOUGH. MY LORD, IT IS ENOUGH.
TEAR MY CENTER WED MY NAVEL
DO NOT HIDE FROM ME.
Gangā sizzled as your lotus scent filled my nostrils maddened, i looked around for You, when, a whisper:
𝒊𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒉𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒔.

A revered temple, it is dedicated to Dhari Devi (a form of Goddess Kali), who is considered to be the guardian deity of Uttarakhand and is worshipped as the protector of the Char Dhams. According to mythology, a severe flood once washed away a temple and the idol of Dhari Devi was trapped against a rock near the Dharo village. The local residents claim to have heard wails and a divine voice directed them to install the idol there.
Local lore also has it that the idol of the deity changes appearance throughout the day – a girl child in the morning, a young woman in the afternoon and an old woman in the evening.
It is said that Goddess Dhari Devi has two parts. Her body’s upper half appeared at Dhari Devi temple while her lower half appeared at Kalimath temple, where she is worshipped as Maa Kali. According to the legend, Dhari Devi’s idol can’t be kept under any roof. So, that portion is always kept open towards the sky.
The temple is located between Srinagar and Rudraprayag on the banks of River Alaknanda and can be reached by a one-km cement pathway.

However, planning the perfect Chardham Yatra can be overwhelming, especially with so many packages available. In this complete guide, we’ll help you choose the best Chardham Yatra Package for 2024, ensuring a seamless and enriching pilgrimage experience.
1. Know Your Priorities
Before diving into the sea of travel options, it’s crucial to understand your specific needs. Ask yourself the following questions:
Are you looking for a budget-friendly or luxury package?
How many days can you dedicate to the yatra?
Do you prefer a guided tour, or do you want a more independent journey?
Would you like helicopter services, especially for hard-to-reach sites like Kedarnath?

Different operators offer varying inclusions. Look for packages that provide:
Comfortable accommodations (near the temples or scenic spots)
Convenient transportation (private cabs or buses)
Meal options (often vegetarian, keeping in mind the yatra’s spiritual nature)
Experienced guides or local coordinators
Medical assistance, if needed
The more comprehensive the package, the better your experience will be, especially in the remote and challenging terrain of the Chardham sites.

Some travel agencies, like haridwartourtrip, offer customized itineraries for Chardham Yatra, allowing you to tailor the trip based on your preferences. Whether you want to spend extra days at a specific shrine or include additional activities such as visiting nearby attractions, customized options give you more flexibility in shaping your pilgrimage.
5. Plan Your Travel Dates Early
Chardham Yatra has a limited season, typically from April to November, depending on weather conditions. Since the demand for packages increases during peak season, booking early is key to securing the best deals. Planning ahead also helps you get prime accommodation and reduces last-minute hassles.
6. Read Reviews and Testimonials
