Secrets of a Living Room that Seduce You
Your living room is a place where you can have fun-times with family and friends. The space deserves a comfortable sofa, to add more balance to the room, some contrasting textures, accent walls and more to spruce up the entire room. When you add wood furniture and other natural elements you can create a sense of warmth that pulls people in.
Your Sofa – a modest yet effective New London furniture
Irrespective of the kind of interior décor you add to your home atmosphere, your sofa remains the star of the show. The style and color of your sofa shall set the tone for the entire room and create a positive first impression. So, choose your sofa keeping in mind the kind of aura you want to pool in your living room.
With Neutrals add Contrast
Black, grey, beige neutrals are all in the rage these days, however, you must make sure to spice up things to make your living room feel rich and welcoming. For instance, you can tone down your white walls with a caramel leather recliner and a mixture of light and dark colors for various elements in the town.
Pool in the natural elements
No matter how modern or minimalistic way we go about, there is always a space to add materials like cotton, stone, leather, metal and glass that can go a long way in adding an inviting feel to the room. Find your mattress outlet in Connecticut here. Choose the right fit for your bed.

Advantages of Purchasing Good Quality Living Room Furnishings
The cost of furnishing your home is significant. Avoid the temptation to furnish your home all at once by taking the time to choose the appropriate styles and brands. Keep your pace so you can select high-end, luxurious furniture that is both timeless and multifunctional. This blog contains several excellent arguments for why you should spend money on well-made, high-quality living room furniture in Massachusetts.
Furniture that is Long-Lasting
The contrast between the high-quality furniture and the less priced furniture is immense. For instance, kitchen tables must handle breakfasts, homework, crafts, coloring, and much more. A table made of higher-quality materials, such as solid wood, will last years of heavy use, but one made of lower-quality materials, such as particle board, may only last a few years before needing to be replaced. A higher quality item from living room furniture stores in Massachusetts can survive more wear and tear, but you will usually wind up spending more money over time. Real quality things, like contemporary luxury bedroom sets, may endure a lifetime.
Customers prize individuality, and specially made furniture frequently comes in small quantities. You can be sure that very few living rooms will include the same luxury coffee table if you spend money on one with an artistic influence, like the cocktail table! Distinctive things let your individual style stand out.
Homeowners can modify their living environment to suit their personal interests and styles by adding distinctive furniture design components. Spend time finding the distinctive furniture pieces you adore; they'll contain sentimental worth and grow to be valued items you cherish for many years.
The fact that luxury furniture products are available in a wide range of sizes and shapes is one of their biggest benefits.

Okay, guys, this is weird. It's clearly a red barn, but it has a castle turret (ok, it's a silo, but it's like a barn castle). This is not a barndominium, it's a bastle. Built in 1995 in Castlewood, SD, it has 6bds, 5ba, and outbuildings. The house is 15,000sq.ft, and comes out to only $29/sq.ft. at $430K. I was not expecting the interior- I was expecting rustic. Check it out.
Tumblr media
Very plain, unassuming entrance. Cheap Home Depot Door.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, then, bam! Gray brick with a fireplace, stairs, walls with interior windows, and balconies. Where the hell am I?
Tumblr media
The other side of the great room has plain white walls, a big open balcony, and what looks like brick walls set into the railing specifically for the display of heads. I also see brick columns, beams and a brick wall on the far end above, plus stairs to a lower level. So much going on.
Tumblr media
Basically, where there's a railing, there's just an open space for a game room, TV room, etc.
Tumblr media
Oh, wow, from this view, there's a marble wall. I have never seen windows w/faux marble shutters, notice the barn doors, as well.
Tumblr media
One must wonder who designed this masterpiece. It sure is complex. On the right it looks like 3 steps going up to what, a window and small hallway? There's also a door on the right, and door above.
Tumblr media
Here's a view from the balcony area. I guess we can also call it a mezzanine.
Tumblr media
Back downstairs, we're in the kitchen. I'm not impressed. Don't like the cabinets or the layout.
Tumblr media
Then, here's a way oversized dining room. Note the little shelf above- it has a tiny railing.
Tumblr media
I'm gonna say that this is a giant family room off the dining room, and it took me a minute to realize that the "island" in the middle is a hot tub.
Tumblr media
So, this must've been a game room. Note the rectangular decorative wall by the pool table.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then over here there's a TV room that looks like it was decorated by Meemaw and Papaw. I have to say that I hate the furniture- it doesn't go with the funkiness of the house.
Tumblr media
It looks like there are patterns on the walls, like wheat stalks going up the stairs.
Tumblr media
Wallpaper or some kind of decorative panels up here. There's so much space.
Tumblr media
Here's a dark bedroom. The ceiling and walls are so weird.
Tumblr media
This large bedroom looks like it's in the silo/turret.
Tumblr media
The shape of the ceiling up here is interesting. I don't know what this is- maybe some kind of storage area.
Tumblr media
There's a 2 car garage with a large attached barn.
Tumblr media
Plus, another very large building attached to the barn.
Tumblr media
It's some sort of workshop.
Tumblr media
The white building is a whole 'nother house w/3bds, 1ba. Remember, it's only $29 per sq. ft., so it's a lot for the money.
Tumblr media
And, this L-shaped building is another huge barn/work space. This could be someone's empire.
Tumblr media
Wow, it's big.
Tumblr media
2.84 acres of land.

Love in Oklahoma - Javier ‘Javi’ x F! reader
prompt: javi and his girl bought a small farm in Oklahoma, reworked it and adopted little nancy!
TW: mentions of injury, implications of smut
i saw @tempesttamers make a post about seeing anthony ramos with nancy and they needed a javi fic who has a miniature cow named nancy lol. it was such a cute idea, so thanks for that!
Tumblr media
Whenever it wasn’t tornado season down in Oklahoma, the excitement was buzzing for the next one. Everyone round the bonfire of another cheap motel, all the storm chasers would gather and share stories of chasing a twister or two, the failures, close calls, successes… reminiscing the adrenaline high everyone felt in their own way.
But you and Javi had no place to stay apart from those motels. Your homes were far away from the southwest, and though storm season was over, Javi still needed to do a lot of research and analytics for storm patterns, their paths, conditions, humidity levels and even sometimes forecasts. Storm Par was busy all year.
Since he dragged you from your own job in the city down to Tornado Alley, you felt like you belonged down there, among the wheat fields, cheap food, thick humid air and wide skies; you and Javi would stargaze at times, and they seemed brighter down there for two reasons. One, there was no pollution for them to shy away behind and two, Javi was there - the man who seemed to make everything brighter.
So rather than stay basically homeless, Javi saved up some money and bought a little house with a farm. Barely half the size of a football field, it was selling for pretty cheap, so you Javi bought it for the two of you.
It wasn’t grand, but you two loved it very much. A small, simple, two story farmhouse with a porch, wide and welcoming, its wooden steps leading up to the red-brick house. Inside, it was definitely in need of some handiwork, but it was inviting nonetheless. After all, blank walls are nothing but a canvas to store potential. Dark stained wooden floorboards run throughout, giving it a rustic elegance. Though scuffed by generations of footsteps, they were very well polished. The kitchen, an open wide space, the heart of the home, had a traditional water pump basin and sink. You grinned when you saw it, turning to Javi who raised his eyebrows in shock and chuckled quietly, shaking his head in amusement. The sink sat beneath a window with a picturesque view of the backyard. White wooden cabinets adorned the walls, giving the kitchen its own light. Though the house was partially furnished, providing you with a large, rectangular dining table, some vintage pantry cabinets, and some sturdy chairs the previous owners left behind.
The second floor was led by some creaking wooden steps, and after climbing the short flight, you were met with a master bedroom with a large window overlooking the front yard, connected to a bathroom with checkered floor tiles, one of your new favourite things. They had a normal tap unlike the kitchen basin downstairs, and large mirror with some storage units and a shower. The other room, another bedroom, was smaller in comparison, but still had a window and a large bookshelf covering one whole wall. The other bathroom, almost as large as a room itself, was spacious, with two sinks, a rainshower, and bathtub.
Needless to say, you two fell in love with the house.
Once you two moved in, you both started to rework the place a little. Javi invited some close friends from Storm par and you invited Kate and the Tornado Wranglers to held paint the walls. Once that was done, everyone went out for dinner at a local diner, letting the stench of fresh paint air out. 2 weeks of relentless reworking went by, the crew made everything a lot faster; the house was homely, cozy, inviting. A bit of a contrast to the two city people you two were, but all the hard work made it all the more impressive. All your old stuff was shifted in, the crew helping you move all the heavy furniture, then left you two to do your own thing. Once everything was furnished, you both fell asleep on your shared bed upstairs, holding each other close.
After a day of rest, you both spent from sunrise to sunset out on the farm. Javi drove you to the farmer’s market, finding people who sold nearly mature crops with the purpose of repotting. You both bought 3 tomato plants - one in each colour: purple, red and yellow - 2 cucumbers, some Napa cabbage, romaine lettuce, arugula, some raspberry and blueberry shrubs. Once back the sun was high, you both slathered some sunscreen on and spent hours outside, repotting everything into the fertile southwestern soil.
The Tornado Wranglers came over for housewarming, bearing gifts; Kate bought you a pot of flowers, with her own recipe for a fertilizer which wasn’t damaging. Tyler brought a handmade sign saying ‘Not our first farmhouse!’ with the ‘Not’ crossed out in red paint. You accepted it with a laugh, and Javi just rolled his eyes playfully. Boone bought you both a vintage polaroid camera, and you had the idea of taking a photo of everyone who visited this house, and sticking it on the wall near the entrance, as a cute little housewarming idea. Lily brought some food, her famous enchiladas. Dani bought you two a weighted blanket and a toolbox, knowing how handy that can get. Dexter bought you two some encyclopedias and books you two would definitely enjoy. Everyone shared laughs and jokes and memories over dinner, and you both realized how this farmhouse really changed your lives.
You both started living a new life together, which contrasted everything before.
You always had a knack for baking and cooking, but only did so occasionally, because you could always buy bread from the supermarket, and you were busy. Now that you had joined Storm Par (once you cornered Javi and Scott into finding ethical investors) you both worked from home, giving you a lot of time for each other, and equally important, yourselves. Now, not a weekend went by when you went on a baking spree, pulling in Javi to help you out leading to flour fights, stolen chaste kisses where he’d lift you onto the counter, and everything in between. You baked sourdough, focaccia, dinner rolls, peanut butter cookies, muffins with fresh blueberries from the yard.
Javi rarely ate breakfast, mostly because he was too lazy or never had the will to eat anything shitty anyways, so every morning he’d be blessed with a platter of fresh herbed butter on sourdough toast, free range eggs from some chickens you both bought, and crispy organic bacon. Now, he claims breakfast is his second favourite meal, and when you ask what comes first, he just gives you a knowing look, which ends up with him getting flicked on the forehead.
All in all, your lives had changed for the better, but it was only about to get even better.
As you both drove back from the farmer’s market one evening, you saw a little curled up black and white creature on the side of the road
“Hey, baby, look..” you pointed over, and his eyes followed yours.
“Is that-” he slammed the breaks, rushing out of the car, you following behind.
It was a baby cow, or a miniature one, and its leg had a horrible gash on it.
“Its owners probably ditched her, pool gal…” He said softly, stroking the calf’s head when he found no ear tag on her.
You and Javi shared a look, and a silent communication went between you two. You needed to help her out.
You rushed over to your trunk, pouring out some milk and giving her some sustenance in the hopes of earning her trust. After carefully lifting her, making sure she didn’t thrash around, Javi put her in the backseat after you put a blanket down. You sat with her, the animals’ head resting in your lap. You drove a little way out of town for a vet, and after a quick checkup, you were given some ointment, and since the calf was abandoned, you both decided to keep it.
“Come on, Nancy” Javi said soothingly, carrying calf back into the car.
“Nancy?” you chuckled “We’re naming her already?”
“Yeah” Javi said with a chuckle “I like Nancy” he smiled, petting the calf’s head
“So do I” You said after a moment of thought. “Let’s get going”
Once everyone was back home, you brought out a wheelbarrow, and Javi put Nancy in there, the both of you gently bringing her to the barn. Once she was settled on a pile of hay, Javi gently tied her neck to a pole, making sure it wasn’t cutting anything off. You brought a bottle of milk with you, feeding her as her big black eyes got drowsier.
“Can I sleep here with her?” Javi asked you with concern.
“In the barn?” you laughed “Seriously?”
“I’m dead serious, (name)” Javi said, a look of determination you couldn’t fight.
“Alright, let me get the limoncello candle” you said in fake annoyance. Javi smiled, and called out.
“Love you, baby!”
Once you came back with the lit limoncello candle to ward off any bugs, setting it in the corner, you brought some sleeping bags and a bottle of water and milk, for you two and Nancy.
“I’m sleeping here with you” You said, handing him a sleeping bag.
“You don’t have to..” Javi said softly, never taking his eyes off Nancy as he stoked her head, tracing the blotches of black on her cream fur.
“I want to” you reassured, settling into the sleeping bag. “G’night, Javi” you murmured after giving him a sweet peck on the lips.
“Love you” he said, watching you over his shoulder as you settled in for the night.
“Love you too” you yawned “You know, if you changed your mind-”
“No” He interrupted you stubbornly “I’m staying here with Nancy” He reinforced.
“Whatever you say, baby” you chuckled, closing your own droopy eyes. “Make sure to actually catch some sleep”
“Yeah, I will. I promise” He nodded. “Goodnight, (name), I love you”
“Love you too, Jalapeño” you chuckled “Goodnight”
Javi chuckled at the nickname you loved using, and watched as you fell asleep. He looked over at a now asleep Nancy and smiled. He was so happy he bought this little home with you. He looked over at you again, then crawled over, unzipping the sleeping bag.
“Javier….” you whined “I was falling asleep!”
“Hold on just a second, baby..” He unzipped the sleeping bag, detached the zippers on his own one, and attached the two bags together and crawled inside, zipping it back up.
“Now we can cuddle!” he grinned, and you shook your head with a chuckle, burying your head in his chest and wrapping your arms around his torso.
“Okay, now really goodnight.” you murmured with mock annoyance.
“Yeah, really” He chuckled, nodding. “Goodnight, love”.
And with that, you both fell asleep in the barn, in each other’s arms, alongside your new companion. Javi dreamt of your lives progressing in this little farmhouse, filling it up with kids, maybe a German Shepherd… ironically, the house did have a white picket fence too, which made everything all the more cliche. But he didn’t care how much of a sap he was around you - since you seemed to love it anyway. Your lives had gotten so much.. lovelier.
If anything, you both found more love here, in Oklahoma.

Steve and Billy furniture shopping for their first apartment and Billy keeps measuring the kitchen tables heights and like pushing on them to test their strength and Steves like what are you doing? and billy, as he finds the right table, just licks his teeth and says i guess youll have to find out
Billy hadn't been picky about any of the other furniture in their new place.
He barely voiced on opinion on the bedframe, and only picked one second-hand couch over another because he said it had better ass feel. He didn't care which chairs they got for the dining room (mismatched ones) or that the dresser for their bedroom was the ugliest shade of babyshit yellow ever seen by human eyes.
But for some fucking reason, he cared way too much about the goddamn dining room table.
"Billy, this one's fine." Sure, it was a little flimsy. Definitely not real solid wood, but that was good. That was within their budget. It sat eight people and would be perfect for DnD campaigns, what more could they ask for?
"We just need to keep looking. It's not right."
Steve rolled his eyes.
"We've been to every single thrift store within a twenty-mile radius, this one is fine."
Billy pressed on the table again, shoving it around. It scraped against the floor, causing several people to whip their heads around to see who made the horrible screeching.
Steve was fucking mortified.
"God, if you don't like this one, then let's just go."
"Hang on, shithead." Billy rounded the table, pressing against the next one in the same way. He was standing at the head of it, feeling how high it came up against his thigh, pushing and knocking on it. "I like this one."
Yeah. The expensive one. The one that says it's solid oak and costs four times as much as the other one.
"Billy, no."
"No, Stevie. This is it. This is the one." And he looked Steve dead in the eye, and thrust his hips ever so slightly against the table. "This'll do nicely."
"What do you even mean by that? What are you doing?"
He looked Steve up and down, checking him out in that insatiable way that always makes Steve a little bit hard and a little bit sweaty.
"You'll have to find out."
He grinned at Steve, licking over his teeth, and moving past him to flag down an employee, shoulder-checking Steve on his way past because he knows Steve likes being knocked around a little bit.
-
Billy was nearly attacking him the second they heaved the table up the two flights of stairs, and wrestled it through the doorway into their apartment.
It was two bedroom, with cheap laminate floors throughout. It didn't have AC, the shower was a joke, and the kitchen was minuscule, but it was all theirs.
The had decided the smaller bedroom would be a good dining space. It was right off the main living area, with large double doors. Steve had been hoping for a space to bring their friends over. To cook for them and have game nights.
And apparently, Billy had been hoping for this.
"Bend over the table."
Steve grabbed a fistful of blond hair, tugging Billy back to glare at him.
"You absolute psycho! Did you seriously make us buy a giant table we can't afford, just so you can fuck me on it?"
Billy narrowed his eyes.
"Oh, please. Like you don't have some little housewife fantasy. Making me dinner and setting the table all nice. Letting me fuck you while our food gets cold."
"That was one roleplay."
Steve rolled his eyes as hard as he could.
And bent over the table.

I want sugar daddy submas but a date with emmet. I feel like after a fancy lunch. They went to buy luxury furniture. And emmet asks the reader to decorate their house or room in ways that she wants it to be. And when the reader is choosing what sofa goes best in the living room (or her room) Emmett is just imaging all the kinds of things he can do with you on that sofa (and whether that sofa is good for sexy time.) when looking at all the mirror he just thinks about how he can f you in front of the mirror and see all the angle
Anon, I am so unbelievably sorry that this took so long to answer, but it has been eating at my brain for the entire time it's been sitting in my inbox and I really wanted to get it right. I hope what I finally came up was worth the wait!
Luxuries
Summery: Emmet takes you furniture shopping for the twin's summer house. Certain unspoken presumptions and misunderstandings in your relationship with the twins come to light. A little angst with a happy ending 💕
Pairings: Sugar Daddy!Emmet x Reader (GN), Implied Sugar Daddy!Ingo x Reader
Warnings: 18+ content (Minors Begone!), Sugar Daddy-esque relationship (and the consequences and implications of such), smut, dirty fantasies, personal and financial insecurities.
After a wonderful morning of trying on clothes and being spoiled to death by Ingo, Emmet meets both of you at a small diner. You’ve never even heard of this place but the atmosphere here is incredibly cozy.
The whole interior is a beautiful, solid hardwood, and each covered table is set up against a curtained window that lets in the light. The booths, far from the cheap vinyl you're used to in diners, are instead actual loveseats made with real leather. The tile floor below you is a lovely dark green, which makes the isle in between tables look like an emerald sea.
“I didn’t think you’d like a place like this. It’s very vintage.” And fancy. You think. This is like no diner you've ever been to.
“That’s because it’s been in business for nearly a century.” Ingo says as he takes the seat across from you, “We’ve been coming here since we first started at Gear Station.”
He sets a small bag under the table. It contains a wonderfully soft cardigan you'd found on a sale rack on your way out of the tailor's. Its price tag could have fed you for two weeks, but Ingo insisted on buying it for you anyway.
It's absurd to feel weird over a cardigan, you tell yourself, especially when it was the cheapest thing bought for you today. You put on a brave face at the tailor’s, mostly because there was someone else already there, but you’re really not used to having so much money to use on whatever you want.
Maybe that was it. The rest of the beautiful, beautiful clothes could be excused as a business expense, like a uniform for a job. But the cardigan, that was for you only. There was no getting around that.
Emmet's voice startles you out of your thoughts, and all of a sudden you're back in the diner.
“Yup yup! This building used to be the dining carriage on the luxury cross-regional line.” Emmet explains, sliding in next to you. His whole expression is aglow with happiness. You’ve come to understand that different smiles mean different things with him. This one shines with warmth. “They have done a lot of work to preserve and recreate as much as they can. These are even the same kind of chairs and tables they used back then!”
“I never even knew this was here…” You take a moment to marvel at the intricate wallpaper and polished wooden walls and try very hard not to think about how much has already been spent today.
“It’s a real gem, don’t you think?” Ingo’s eyes are sparkling. He looks so happy just to share this with you. “Everything here is wonderful as well. Please take a look at the menu and order whatever you’d like. It’s on us.”
~~~
If the twin’s choice of lunch surprised you, Emmet’s choice of where to take you on a date shocks you even more.
“Is this… a furniture store?”
“Mhmm!” Emmet watches your expression carefully. “I know it is unusual. But I want your help picking out some pieces for my and Ingo’s summer house. We have to host a bunch of parties this year. You’ll be spending a lot of time there with us and we want you to be comfortable.”
To his credit, Emmet doesn’t mention a thing about wanting to buy furniture for your place. He’s never been inside (truthfully, he doesn’t even know where you live), but judging from what Elesa’s told him about your lifestyle, it could probably use something nicer. And he would love to give it to you.
“But shouldn’t Ingo be here for that too?”
“Hmmmm, no. We have verrry similar tastes. And we both trust your sense of style, so he agreed to let us go together.”
“Oh. Okay then.” You still look unsure, but Emmet doesn’t seem to notice. He takes you by the hand and your heart flutters inside your chest.
“Full steam ahead!”
~~~
Calling the store massive is an understatement. Even in a city like Nimbasa, you've never seen anything like this.
It's like a labyrinth in here. Every way you turn is a new room full of a setup of furniture. Some of them are kitchens with huge sinks and granite countertops. Others are elaborate dining rooms with tables set for fifty. The ones Emmet most wants to explore are the living rooms.
Maybe this can be a good opportunity to get to know him after all. While browsing a whole wall full of chairs, you ask about his decorating style and preferences.
"Ingo and I like a modern look. It fits with our professional image, so it’s good for places we have to host in." His expression seems reserved, despite his smile.
You think back to how much they loved the old, vintage dining car, and wonder if sticking to a modern 'professional image' can be joined with what they actually like in practice.
Your eyes scan over the chairs, and you find a dark brown, almost black leather piece toward the center. It's traditional, in that the upholstery is very classic, but the lines are crisp and sharp, modern. You don't think it would look out of place in either scenario. You point it out.
"What about that one?"
Emmet brings a hand to his chin, considering, silent. You're worried you may have made a mistake until he quite suddenly turns around and marches across the room. He stops in front of a matched pair of very modern, round side tables, one black and one white, accented with marble tops and gold trim.
"A pair of those chairs with these tables could fill a nook by one of the windows." He says. "Verrry nice. An excellent combination!"
"That would be so cozy! It would be a nice place to sit and talk for a while." You say, excited that he's on board. "A rug under them all would help mark the space as its own little area.”
"Yes!" He puts a hand on your shoulder. “Let's mark these down and remember to look at rugs later. For now, couches."
~~~
There are almost as many couches in this place as there are chairs.
At one point, Emmet grabs your hand and pulls you down onto a loveseat with him to test it out. It's very comfy. Comfier still with you cuddled up under his arm.
Across from you both is a mirror on a large wall. It’s beautiful, with golden leaves and flowers surrounding the frame. In it, Emmet can see you curled into his side. He sees your reflection turn and gaze up at him. The look in your eyes is like he hung the stars. He wants you to always look at him like that.
How easy would it be, to turn his head and kiss you? His lips would fit against yours perfectly. He’s thought about it so many times already. In the dead of night. In the quiet morning. In the dull monotony of the work day. He wonders how you would react. Would you swoon against him, melt into him like he was made for you? His hand has already found its way to your waist. One quick tug, and you'd fall right into his lap - where you belong.
You'd sigh as his lips ghost their way down your neck. He'd trail kisses across your shoulders like rain. You’d gasp at the rough texture of his sideburns against your sweet, soft skin. He’d nip, maybe even bite. Ingo had gotten you those clothes in black… he’d have to mark you in other ways. In places only he could see.
Emmet thinks of his hand slipping across your neck to give a gentle squeeze. You’d shudder in his arms and your eyes would slip closed. His hand would slide down across your chest. Lower. Lower. He feels you breathe against him. The fluttering of your heartbeat. Lower. To the waist of your pants. He’d stop, rubbing his thumb against the line where clothing meets skin, until your hand wraps around his and shows him exactly what you want.
He’d look up from where he sucks dark bruises onto your shoulder. Silver eyes blown dark with lust would meet yours through the reflection. You’d watch yourself become the very image of desperation as he worked you. You would see how he took you apart piece by piece and built you back together with only his touch. The jerking of your hips against his hand. The friction driving you to a squirming mess against him. You’d be laid out before him in the mirror like a feast.
"Emmet..." Your voice is like honey to his ears. A voice on the breeze that whispers, begs for more. He’d give you anything. Everything. "Emmet..."
"Emmet, are you there?"
He snaps out of his trance. Just like that, the dream is gone. He's back in the furniture store with you sitting next to him.
"I am Emmet. I was lost on a train of thought. What were you saying?"
“This chair is nice, but I don’t know about the color. I wanted to know what you think.”
“I think we should get this mirror.”
“The mirror?” You look baffled, and turn to make a face at your reflection. It doesn’t really seem like his style, “Why?”
“I like the view I’m seeing in it.”
~~~
Emmet circles a huge sectional. It’s been presented with a luxurious, dark grey fabric. His hands sweep across the back and he notes that even the top is cushioned. There’s so much room, he could fuck you in a different position on it every day for a month and still have opportunities for more. The prospect has merit…
He shakes himself out of it. Any more daydreaming, and you’ll start to get worried about him. Besides, as much as he wants it to be, your relationship isn’t like that with them. Not yet.
“What about this couch?” He asks as you take a seat. You bounce as you plop down, and his fingers tighten indistinguishably on the upholstery.
Its humiliating for you to think about how this couch wouldn't even fit in your apartment. It’s lovely, really. And very nice to sit on. It's even softer than your bed! But it’s far too big for your little studio, (if you could even call a space so small a studio. You’re pretty sure Elesa's closet is bigger than your apartment).
“It’s really comfy! Will it work in your summer house?”
“It might be a little small…” He thinks aloud, coming around the side to drop next to you. Emmet leans back, putting his feet up onto the ottoman in front. “We could add a few more sections to it. It would look nice in the conversation pit. Or…”
He turns to you with a look on his face that’s clearly trying to be nonchalant.
“We could always get it for your place.”
You nearly choke. “My place?” You look away, trying to control your expression. There’s no way that would work. It couldn’t even fit it through the door. You try to keep your voice measured, throw in a small laugh, “I don’t know about that…”
“If you do not like it, there are lots of other things here. We could always find something else.”
Emmet says it like buying something like this for you is nothing. And for him, maybe it is. It occurs to you that you don’t really know much about their lives at all, or how well off they actually are. Maybe they really did go through life not even thinking about what it cost them.
Meanwhile, your funds have been so low that you haven’t even thought about replacing the ratty old futon you’ve had since college. There are a million other things that you’re more concerned about than your comfort - like fixing your car, or paying off your school debts, or how until recently, you struggled to afford just surviving from one month to another.
“Um.. maybe. Why don’t we take a look in the next room.”
Anything to get away from this couch.
~~~
Emmet’s warm smile has fallen. His lips are pursed and there’s a furrow in his brow, like how he looks when trying to come up with battle strategies. You pick at your cuticles. Silence stretches out in between you two like an impassible river. Emmet has always been quieter than his brother, but it’s never been like this before.
“You said you have a conversation pit in your summer home?” You ask, trying to kickstart the conversation again. He’d also said you’d be spending time there, so… “When will I get to visit?”
And you pray the answer is still soon.
Some tension seems to leave him as he answers, “We usually host two parties for the season. Ingo and I would love you to be there for both,”
“I’d like that!” You answer, a little too quickly. But he seems to take it well. He almost looks relieved, and that comforts you as well.
Once you’ve broken the ice, conversation flows easily between you two once more. In fact, you’re both doing really well together! Your chatter is lighthearted, sometimes even boldly teasing, and though you have to hustle to keep up with his long legs and purposeful stride, you find he keeps looking toward you, like he wants to make sure you’re still with him. It’s endearing.
Until he tries to buy you another couch. Another wave of shame crests over you – it’s so powerful that you can’t think of what to do or how to save this moment without losing it. And it was going so well, too!
“Emmet, please stop. I’m sorry, but I don’t think you should buy this.”
“What, why?” He seems baffled, like he can’t figure out what you mean, “Is the color wrong? You shouldn’t worry. We can get it redone to fit your tastes.”
“I- no. That’s not- I just wouldn’t be comfortable with it.”
“But… it’s very comfortable?” Emmet looks confused, “The cushions are plenty soft. You just said so.”
“No, no. I mean, I don’t feel comfortable with you buying something like this for me!”
"But that’s why we're here. You deserve to be comfortable."
He pauses for a moment, as if struck by something.
"Are you not comfortable? With Ingo and I buying you things?"
You pause. Today has been a lot, with Ingo taking you to such a fancy, expensive tailor and Emmet wanting to buy you all of this new furniture. It’s so much money. More than you’ve ever had to spend on your own. But truthfully, it’s nice too. To be able to look at something and not have to worry about what it cost. To just decide you can have it, no matter what it was.
And it was nice, SO nice, to have people who wanted to give it to you.
"It's been really nice. But…" You sit down on the nearest couch, eyes facing downward as you try to put together the words to express how you’re feeling without choking.
But at what cost? You’re not naive. You know that this relationship is transactional. Every debt will have to be paid eventually. Once it’s all wrung up, what will the price on your shoulders be?
You’re scared that soon the spell will be broken. The debt collector will come knocking and demand something you can’t give. What will you do then, stuck with a price you can’t bear to pay and no way to back out? It’s terrifying. Would Ingo and Emmet do that to you? You’ve known them long enough to think that they probably wouldn’t, but how can you really be sure? How can you be sure of anything?
Emmet carefully sits across from you, patiently waiting for your next words.
“I don’t know why you’re both… It’s all so much, and I don’t know what you’re expecting from me in exchange for all of this.” Your expression is worried, almost scared.
Emmet feels his veins turn to ice. He suddenly feels like how he did as a child, making a rookie mistake in a battle and finding out how quickly and badly things could backfire on him. This was the last impression he or Ingo ever wanted to give.
"We are not buying you things because we want something from you. We wanted to do this for you because we like seeing you happy. You should have nice things." Your eyes are watery. He pulls a handkerchief from his pocket and offers it to you. “We only want you to be happy. Is that hard to believe?”
Emmet knows now that the game is almost up. The three of you are going to have to sit down and talk about your relationship – it’s all too quickly growing out of the convenient agreement it started as and into something more. They want to give you more, but Emmet realizes that they shouldn’t have assumed you’d just accept without talking it through first. You were so much more than what you could give to them. Yet somewhere along the way he and Ingo had both failed to consider how you might make assumptions about their intentions.
And then there’s the matter of their attraction to you. Emmet likes you. Wants you. They both do. But they can’t stand the idea of you thinking they’re buying you. Love that is an obligation is not what they want. It is so much more than that for them.
“I am Emmet. And I am sorry. I should have known it was too much to offer.” He says as you wipe your eyes. “I am serious though. Neither Ingo or I would ever expect anything like that.”
“I-” You take a deep breath, “Thank you. I’m sorry too. I should have told you how I was feeling sooner.”
Emmet reaches out and takes your hand in his. This time, you don’t pull away.
“Do you think we could start our date over?” He asks. You look at him and know that if you said no right now, he would take you home and everything would still be okay. “What if we just did something fun together instead? The amusement park is still open.”
You laugh through the last of your tears. “I’d like that. Can we ride the ferris wheel?”
He rubs a thumb over your knuckles.
“That sounds perfect.”
Call of Duty || Coraline AU || Part 2
Tumblr media
Running away to start a new chapter and escape the troubles of your past, you find yourself in a darker predicament than you had hoped for.
Coraline with a twist. And COD men. Obviously.
PT.1 / PT.3
Tumblr media
The sound of the microwave beeping in the background pulled you from your thoughts, snapping you away from the daze you had towards the ceiling. Despite it being night time, you could still faintly hear the sound of that damned circus music playing from the neighbor above, and you hated to admit it, but it was already driving you a bit mad.
Your visit to the market was deemed half successful. Were the foods in there considered fresh? No, most definitely not. But you had no room to be picky, and you were starving.
Pulling the mess of a dinner out of the microwave, you sat in the rickety chair that the dining room had provided you when you were initially told of the house being furnished. It creaked under your weight, and you grimaced at how fragile the old legs felt beneath you. The moment you sat and began reluctantly feasting on the cheap meal, the music from upstairs stopped, leaving you in a house full of deafening silence.
It felt almost… eerie, though you weren’t sure why. You quickly found you hated the silence, and would’ve much preferred to hear that god awful circus music from the crazed neighbor above you. The silence allowed you to really take in the dreadful state of the house, and just how strange it felt to be alone.
This is good, you thought to yourself. Alone is good. This is better than before.
And truth be told, even though it was incredibly foreign, it was better than before.
The screaming. The fights. The bruises. The fear.
Stop thinking about that.
You quickly finished up your dinner, tossing the plastic tray into the garbage. One good look at the place from where you stood in the kitchen was enough to have you wincing at how unkempt everything was. Dust littered every surface, the floor caked with old dirt and grime, and some of the furniture was still covered up in weak attempts of protective bags that seemed to prove useless the more you looked at them.
Maybe cleaning would do you some good. Take your mind off of the weird neighbors and strange aura the house swarmed you with.
Tumblr media
“What the fuck?” you mumbled to yourself as you kneeled in front of the wall of the living room, staring hard at the old wallpaper.
Though the wall was covered, there was a shape formed underneath it, as if covered up and hidden away so nobody would be able to see it. But you certainly saw it in the midst of your cleaning session. How could you not? It was practically staring you in the face, begging for you to tear it apart and peek beneath.
Standing up to enter the kitchen, you scrambled through the many janky drawers before finding one filled with all sorts of gadgets. The weirdest part was how many keys were tossed carelessly inside, in all different shapes and colors. Who the hell needed this many keys?
Finding a box cutter shoved in the back of the drawer, you returned to the living room. With a soft clank of the box cutter being released, you cut into the wallpaper and carefully cut around the edge of the covered square. It cut open easily, and when you tore away the wallpaper, you were surprised to see a door. A rather small one, but a door nonetheless.
You tried pressing it, tried tugging on it from the small crevices and cracks, but it wouldn’t budge. Gliding your finger along the old wood, you noticed a tiny keyhole on the left of the door.
God, it could be any of those keys in that drawer.
Returning to the kitchen yet again, you shuffled through the array of keys. Most looked normal, and after a few moments, you almost gave up – but as if the universe was finally being a bit nice to you, one key stood out in particular.
Black, old, and on the end, a shape of a button. It was unlike all of the other keys, and it seemed to call out to you, saying pick me, pick me!
When you grasped hold of the key and made your way back to the mysterious door in the living area, you entered the key into the hole. Taking a deep breath and mentally preparing yourself for a swarm of rats to leap out from behind the door (just your luck), you turned the key. To your surprise, that little button key was the right one after all. The small door unlocked, and as if moving on its own, slowly urged itself open.
Curiosity got the best of you, and you grabbed the edge of the door to tug it the rest of the way open.
“You’ve gotta be kidding me,” you breathed out in disappointment when you saw nothing but brick covering up the hole. On the bright side, it wasn’t rats. On the not so bright side, it was very anticlimactic.
Sighing, you shut the door and locked it, securing it tight and returned the key to its original home in the kitchen drawer. With nothing left to do but swallow down your impending loneliness, you headed straight for bed upstairs, willing the clouds in your foggy mind away as well as that stupid little door downstairs.
Tumblr media
“Evenin’, bonnie!” A voice called out from above you as you strolled along the side of the house. Glancing up, you noticed a new man standing on his small, metal patio, beaming down at you with a grin so big he might as well have been a damn cheshire cat. “You’re the new one they told me about. Caroline, yes?”
There it was, that mix up in your name again, just like John had done the day before. Did everyone in the building know your name before you could even properly introduce it?
“It’s Coraline,” you corrected with a small frown, head tilted up to study him from where he was carelessly leaning over the railings. “You’re… Soap?”
“The one and only, Miss Caroline,” Soap confirmed cheekily, and if it were even possible, his smile only grew larger. “Though, there is only one of you, I suppose. Must be pretty special if Laswell let you move in to the place, aye?”
It was similar to what John had said to you yesterday, and it only festered your undying curiosity on what exactly seemed to be the issue with you moving in. Surely, nobody else had moved in before you because of how much cleaning needed to be done inside, right? Nobody but you was crazy enough to move into a place so old and rundown, with such… strange neighbors.
Your eyebrows furrowed as you stared at him, unsure of what to say. He tilted his head with that obnoxious grin on his face, unfazed by your confusion.
“Is there something wrong with my apartment here?” you finally asked, causing him to laugh loudly and shrug his shoulders. Not exactly the answer you were hoping for, but you didn’t expect anything different from a man who seemed so out of touch. A bit crazy, even.
“You tell me, Caroline. Do you think there’s something wrong with the place?”
“...No?”
“Then nothing’s wrong, lass. Quite the silly one, aren’t you?”
He was making your head hurt. If John and Gaz were strange, then Soap was even stranger.
“Right,” you muttered with a small huff, clearly not amused by his lack of explanation. “Well… it was nice meeting you, Soap. Suppose I’ll see you around.”
“‘Course, Miss Caroline.”
You didn’t even bother to correct him.
“And please, can you maybe tone it down with the music? It’s a bit much, you know.”
Soap grinned, all perfect teeth on display, and straightened himself up along the railings to rest his palms on them. He was a bit boyish in a way, and you couldn’t tell if it was creepy or perhaps you were just a bit too judgmental.
He hummed in response, but said nothing. You took that as your opportunity to leave, facing forward to continue your descent around the house in your eagerness to explore the land.
“I’ll turn down the music if you promise not to go through the little door, Miss Caroline,” he practically sang in amusement, and when you whipped your head back around to look up at him again, he was gone from the patio. All you heard was the sound of his door, as well as his faint snickering that disappeared as it shut behind him.
You stood there, dumbfounded, as you stared at the cracked wood of his door from where he resided upstairs. First, John knew your name. Now, Soap knew about the little door. Even worse, he somehow knew you had discovered it and made attempts to open it to peek inside.
You made a mental note to look for hidden cameras in your apartment when you returned from your exploration of the property.
Tumblr media
The land that surrounded the Pink Palace was certainly much more peaceful than the peculiar residents that lived there with you. Though the sky was still a gloomy gray that you knew you’d have to grow accustomed to, the light breeze and dark green of the trees was enough to be considered a pretty sight.
Walking along the dirt trail, the silence you had once dreaded the night before was now welcome. It allowed your fuzzy mind to take a break and simply enjoy the nature around you.
You lost track of how long you had spent along the path, but the pleasant quiet was broken by the snap of a branch behind you. Immediately, the hairs on the back of your neck stood up, and you whirled around without a single thought to see if somebody had been following you without your knowledge.
A faint meow was heard, and your eyebrows furrowed as you shifted your gaze to the ground where a small, black cat moseyed along the path in such a careless manner, as if it hadn’t given you a fright.
“Hi, kitty,” you greeted with a soft smile, crouching down to its level. It didn’t approach you and instead, stared. If you didn’t know any better, it seemed almost bored of you. “Ah. Not that friendly, huh?”
The cat sat on its haunches, making no effort to move towards you, but also didn’t attempt to leave. It simply sat there, yellow eyes boring into yours, lazily tilting its head at you. You tilted your head back, mirroring its actions. It was then you noticed a thin collar around its neck, name tag on display. You tilted your head some more, squinting in attempts to see it better without getting closer and scaring it off.
“Si,” you read aloud, humming in acknowledgement. “Alright, Si. Nice to meet you. I’ll be on my way, so don’t follow me, okay? I don’t have anything to feed you. Sorry, little guy.”
You stood from your crouched position, eyes lingering on the cat as his own eyes followed your movements. It felt as if he was studying you, and maybe even judging you if that was even possible for a cat.
The sky was beginning to darken in the slightest, so you knew it was safer to head on home, back to the Pink Palace. You just prayed you didn’t run into any of the neighbors on your way.
With a small nod to Si, you stepped past him and began your journey back to your home. The cat watched you go, eyes watching you disappear down the path before following far behind, completely unbeknownst to you.
The Columbia House, Sims 4 version
So, a while ago @codename-adler made a post asking people to drop their hcs for what the house in Columbia looks like, and since I was in the mood to play the Sims that day, I figured it would be a fun exercise to try and build what I picture in the game. It took me forever to finish it once I had figured out what I what I basically wanted it to look like, but here it is:
Tumblr media
Before sitting down to work on this I roughly scoured the books for what scant descriptions there are to be as accurate as possible, and this is what I found: There is a downstairs bathroom and it has a window (specifically between the shower and the sink), the twins' rooms are upstairs on opposite sides of the hall, Nicky is downstairs past the stairs (as seen from the living room), the living room and kitchen are connected, and there is both a living room and a den. Also there has been no mention of a formal dining room afaik but there is a table in the kitchen, so that is what I went with. Also no garage, just a driveway.
Further I figured the house was pretty blandly suburban, probably a little older and smaller to make it cheap, so that is stylistically what I went with. The living room is open to the hallway and split level, half because of the age thing, and it also influenced the way I went about furnishing the house. I figured Nicky and the twins had probably sourced most of their furniture either from cheap stores (like ikea) or got older stuff for cheap from yard sales and the like, and otherwise I tried to capture an early 2000s vibe. So, here's the floorplan:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A more detailed house tour (and a lot of me rambling) below 👇
First the downstairs hallway. Not much to be said about it: There's a small console to the side for keys and mail and a mat by the door for shoes, plus some plants to make it look a little nicer. Imagine there are family pictures in the frames over the stairs. (I gotta say I do love love the retro vibes of the door though.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next up is the den. While half the reason the living room is open concept is the imagined age of the house, this room is the other half. Before I started this, I wasn't sure if there was a difference between a living room and a den, so when Neil heads to the den to sleep at the end of tfc I imagined him heading to some sort of living room space - and then thought it would be nice if there was a direct line of sight to the front door where Andrew was on the porch, keeping an eye on the others, so that Neil isn't fully removing himself from the small family moment they're all having. But since I wanted to be accurate I googled it, and turns out I'm wrong. However, since the den is at the front of the house you kind of have a view on the driveway from the recliners, so the hc is somewhat intact ;)
Also the octagonal shape of the room half killed me because it made the roof all weird and that influenced the upstairs bathroom and it was a whole thing. But I was looking around the game neighborhood for inspiration for the outside and saw this octagonal front room and fell in love, so I had do it. For the furniture it's canon that there are at least two recliners, and I imagined it to be this smaller secondary family room/computer room, hence the small, old TV and desk. The computer is probably a little older than would be realistic, but I couldn't bring myself to give them the imo even more unrealistic tower with a flatscreen monitor, so it is what it is. The Sims 4, despite not being that new, is pretty bad with 2000s era furniture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we have the infamous downstairs bathroom and the probably most detailed description of anything in the house. The window sits between the shower and the sink and is frosted. Unfortunately that isn't an option in the sims, so I put up some shades. But otherwise it's a pretty small and simple room.
Tumblr media
The living room was a lot of fun. I tried to make it colorful because I feel like Nicky would try to make it look cheerful, and it's also where we have some of the biggest mixing of aesthetics. On the one hand there's an old cabinet, but then we also have some Billy bookshelves and a very cluttered Lack coffee table (side note why tf do I know all of these Ikea names?) and the most 2000s standing lamp in the back (I swear we had one of these). The armchairs I feel like are something picked up from a yard sale while the couch is more new. The fireplace is original to the house. And then of course there is a hi-fi system in the back. In game that's just a record player, I think, but realistically they would have at the very least a cd and casette player on top of that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next is the kitchen, which in my original draft was included in the open living plan, but that felt too open, so I changed it to an archway (in addition to changing the layout some). The cabinets are very old, the fridge and stove very basic and clunky, and I feel like that sort of glass dining table is a very 2000s thing (although I may be wrong about that). Now looking at the screenshots I think the chairs might be a little too contemporary, but I'm not about to go back and change anything. It's a very yellow room, but it fits with the generall blue/green/yellow color scheme I mostly went for with the house. Cheerful but in a pretty inoffensive way. This room is also the only one where I used some CC, because I just had to have a wall phone and the Sims 4 just does not have older technology.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And for the last downstairs room we have Nicky's bedroom. This is one of my favorite rooms in the whole house, and it came together so easily once I had the bed picked out, it was really fun. This is the most color in all of the house, which I felt fits Nicky, and then I went for this sort of hybrid adult/teen aesthetic because he's sort of caught in that transition phase. On the one hand we have a cleaner look, a framed painting, centered bed, nothing too messy despite the loud colors, but then in the corner we just have the pride flag and some posters taped to the wall in a way that looks very leftovers from a teen/young adult phase. Also please imagine there is a picture of Erik in the photo frame in that corner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we're moving upstaris with a very uninspiring first look at the hallway. Nothing really here, a hall closet and a plant but otherwise not much effort put in here. I do wanna say that in reall life the measurements of the house would be a lot different and so this space would probably be smaller (i tried to make it so with the closet, but it still feels a little big)
Tumblr media
The upstairs bathroom(s) unfortunately suffered from the roof that sits around it, making it take up more space than I wanted it to. I think realistically it would all be one big room, with the laundry next to the showertub combo and the toilet beside the double sink, but because that would have been too little going on for the size the room would have taken up in game, I split it up into a separate toilet, laundry in the hallway extension, and then the bathroom with the tub and the double sink. I do like the decals in the toilet room, I think either those are leftover from previous owners of the house and Nicky refused to take them down or he put them up in order to make the room look a little less boring and the twins absolutely hate them. I also really like the brown color scheme of the tiles, it looks very old fashioned and I like that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And lastly the twins' bedrooms. First up, Aaron: I picked green and black for the color scheme and then the very light wood color that all of this very basic Ikea furniture comes in to lighten up the room somewhat. The layout is also very open, so that the black doesn't come across as too oppressive. Here we also again have like on the one hand some framed prints to seem a little more sophisticated mixed with just posters put up over the desk. I went with a gamer theme for those, which given the canon presence of a gaming console (not pictured in the living room) felt right. Like obviously it belongs to all of them, probably, but also if I had to pick who uses it the most that's Aaron. Also making these rooms I developed this hc that the beanbags in the dorm are just taken from the twins' rooms, so I made sure to give each of them one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And last but not least, probably my favorite room in the house because I'm biased af: Andrew. I legit got a little emotional furnishing this because I love him and it was so fun to imagine what his room would look like. The main color is obviously black, and the basic furniture is all the same as in Aaron's room, just in a black swatch. The whole thing imo teeters between cozy and overwhelming, and the layout certainly adds to that with the Kalax separating the room instead of being shoved to the side. But when I put the furniture down before moving it to its intended places I sort of just had it standing there and it felt right. I'm not sure if in actuality Andrew would dislike not being able to see the door or if he would prefer having an obstacle like that between the bed and door, but I do like the effect it creates. Then we got this punching bag which I also felt he probably would appreciate, and lastly in my head the red wall is because Nicky put his foot down on painting the whole room black and so Andrew picked the most aggressive, terrible red just to be contrarian (but it does match with some of the posters and the punching bag and everything). Also over both of the twins' beds is the closest the game has to glow in the dark stars, which I imagine Nicky put up and while they complain that they're not little kids they actually do love those a lot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally some close ups of some areas/details that I loved putting together:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that's it. This has been a long post so I hope you enjoyed the pictures and all of my thoughts. I had a lot of fun building this, anyway, and this is the Columbia house in my head now lol.
