Macro shots of the mushrooms I'm growing right now. First image is blue oyster mushrooms, the other two are still-developing chestnut mushrooms.

Happy Mushroom Monday! 🍄
At a recent Deep Playa Campout event, I was fortunate enough to try a variety of mushrooms from PNW Mushrooms, and OH MY GOODNESS!!! Have you ever seen such pretty mushies!?
A huge thank you to William for gifting a bunch of us with these fantastical fungi. It was one of my highlights from that weekend, and such a nice treat. 😊
I highly recommend checking them out on their IG page HERE.
The pink oysters when fried taste like bacon. So good!

FOTD #133 : cinnamon cap! (hypholoma lateritium)
the cinnamon cap (also brick cap, chestnut mushroom, brick top, red woodlover or kuritake) is a mushroom-producing fungus in the family strophariaceae. it has been discovered in europe, the US & japan, but may even be more widespread :-)
the big question : can i bite it?? well, that depends !! in the US & japan, it is considered edible & choice. however, in europe is considered inedible - some even claiming it to be poisonous.

h. lateritium description :
"the cap is 3.5–10 cm in diameter, usually with a brick-red colouration in the centre and a paler margin. it is smooth, sometimes with red-brown flecks in the middle & sometimes with flaky veil remnants, which can easily be washed off in the rain, on the outside. the gills are crowded, starting yellowish and becoming greyish with age. the stipe is light yellow and darker below."

While their Japanese name does mean chestnut Goombas are meant to be based on Shitake Mushrooms. They are also from the Mushroom Kingdom and are traitors to the Mushroom Kingdom. They are referred to as Stalwart Mushroom Monsters in description for the Ground Soldier Constellation from Mario Party 9. In the Premiere Edition Super Mario Galaxy 2 Game Guide it calls them Mushrooms as well. In a New Super Mario Bros Wii card they are referred to as "fungal foes."

Stuff I bring home from the forest!
First picture has parasol mushrooms, poofball mushrooms and chanterelles in the blue tray.
Second picture is a bag of soil, chestnuts, acorns, a nice big bolete, chanterelles, and various purple mushrooms I thought were edible but turned out, nah.
