Northern Gaza in ‘full-blown famine’, UN food agency chief says

‘It’s horror’: World Food Programme head calls for immediate ceasefire and ‘unfettered access’ into besieged territory.

Northern Gaza is experiencing a “full-blown famine”, the head of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has said, and warned that it is “moving its way south”.

In an interview with NBC News set to air on Sunday, Cindy McCain said that her remarks are based on what the WFP has seen and experienced on the ground. UN officials and aid agencies have for months warned of such a scenario.

“It’s horror. It’s so hard to look at and it’s so hard to hear,” McCain told the US broadcaster’s Meet the Press programme.

“What we are asking for and what we continually ask for is a ceasefire and the ability to have unfettered access, to get in safe through the various ports and gate crossings,” she said, according to a video clip of the interview.

On Saturday, a delegation from Palestinian group Hamas was in Egypt to continue negotiations on a ceasefire amid an uptick in international pressure for a deal to be reached.

Hamas’s spokesman Osama Hamdan said there had been “some forward steps”.

Yet Israel has threatened to launch its ground invasion of Rafah in the southernmost tip of the enclave, which is home to more than 1.4 million displaced Palestinians who have fled the Israeli military’s relentless bombardment in other parts of the Gaza Strip.

Israel has severely restricted the entry of critical humanitarian supplies into Gaza despite warnings from its allies and the United Nations of a looming famine in parts of the Palestinian territory. Its military has also repeatedly attacked and killed Palestinian civilians waiting to collect aid in the Strip.

This week it reopened the Beit Hanoon (Erez) crossing into northern Gaza, but Israeli settlers attacked two aid convoys sent by Jordan. The UN has said the amounts remain insufficient to meet the vast and growing needs of Gaza’s starving population.

The UN-backed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification has previously warned that more than 70 percent of Gaza’s 2.3 million population is facing “catastrophic hunger” any time between mid-March and May.

On Saturday, Gaza’s Ministry of Health said at least 34,654 Palestinians have been killed and 77,908 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7.

I no longer live in the UK. I was one of the many European migrant workers that left because of Brexit. The environment was hostile, the whole settlement scheme was giving dejavú of the Windrush scandal. Residency was now dependent on work visas, citizenship no longer attainable.

If you still live in the UK do your utmost to keep the tories out. Jacob Rees Mogg does not have your best interest at heart, his businesses are not even located in the UK. Boris Johnson got his French passport while he was pushing for Brexit. They’ve trashed the country to let you living in rubbles while they have a escape route.

Finally making a timeliness design-guide for Geno from ec-4o.verse! (Just a wip tho)

#spot!drawn #ec 4o!geno #he goes through a progression in this au unlike a lot of the others #because at one time he was more of a 'Sans' style guy until his setting and circumstances changed him for the worse #far left is pre-war when he's just a programming upstart. i mean he's a boss monster so he's been *programming* for years and years #but he's doing his own project as a volunteer on the side and that's where his real prowess comes from. he programs ecto (robot) AIs!#in this part of the design he's very casual and relaxed and it also features A.Z.! AZ is his first breakthrough because he's an #ultra-realistic ai with no magic infused who was supposed to be used to study mental illnesses in children w/o putting real kids in harsh #environments. but he kept A.Z. as he was the 'prototype' and now Geno monitors him and makes sure his programs function right while also #lowkey highkey raising AZ because he got attached #of course then there's mid-war which is technically also a bit before the war but technicalities don't count.#Geno is a talented programmer. the government (for Nefarious Plans) blackmail him into working at one of their facilities on new updates #for Ectos nation-wide. he doesn't exactly have a choice but he's far too deep in by the time he really understands what the new #protocols are for. then there's Post-war where he's sustained a lot of injuries and takes on his final 'Geno' appearance #at this point he's just trying to survive in the apocalypic wastes and finish what he started (cleaning the aftermath of the war)#but yeagg #the silly #(the government took his robot son but it's okay. he gets two mentally unstable boyfriends and reunites with AZ eventually)

"do i want to do art as a career or a hobby" life's most difficult question that plagues me every second of every day to be Honest

#i feel like part of the reason i went oh ill keep it as a hobby is because i didn't feel like i was Good enough to do it professionally. but #i will only become Good enough if i actually put the time and energy into learning anatomy and everything else and treating it as a full #time programme of study.#which is difficult alongside my accounting degree that i don't fully care about.ohwell #to be honest i will literally have the whole summer to draw so i guess it's fine tbh #i might get really serious and try to follow a vague plan/schedule of devoting x hours a week to anatomy and stuff #i just hate how limited i am right now like i know my art isnt bad but im so lacking in so many areas #well who give a shit...i got plany of time.#i think i will stick out this degree and then consider where to go from there...#i think i do feel too unready for a “career” of any kind so even if i COULD enjoy doing art as a job e.g. comics or children's books i thin #it would probably be better all round to slowly work my way towards it in many years time

this person doesn't even particularly seem to understand what IQ tests have to do with eugenics (though I totally would get what they are trying to say here if the other examples would make any sense at all), but someone claiming that the MBTI test and the HOGWARTS HOUSE TEST were designed to group people into hierarchies so we can kill or eradicate certain groups has got to be the most insane thing ive read this morning

thinking about frangipani and ylang ylang... what's the story there

#like it's the craziest lore in the ppgw programme #when were they born. how were they named. what are their stories.#why would annie name her children that #why does annie have children when i personally feel like it doesn't fit #okay but actually #someone in the discord came up with a really cool headcanon that i may possibly integrate into my views #which is that frangipani and ylang ylang are actually her cats #and annie's just that type of person who calls her cats her children without any hint of irony #because those are much better names for cats than for real human babies #and it feels like it fits her character better. like she doesn't seem like a mother of two? i just don't vibe with it?#whereas i could see her as someone who treats her cats like they're her children #this does leave a few questions #like why she thought they would also be in the audience with her husband #and why her email address is still greatfunmum #so those are why i haven't fully accepted it yet #but also both of those can be justified by. she's really REALLY dedicated to the idea of her cats as her children.#anyway it's food for thought
