Re:vale - 2D☆STAR Vol.5 interview
Tumblr media
Please note that I am not a professional translator and I'm only doing this to share the side materials to those who cannot access them, if you notice any mistakes please let me know nicely. Enjoy!
This magazine has been released in November 2016 aka before part 3!
Interviewer: Thank you so much for your hard work with the shooting and outfit change! Pleased to work with you for this interview.
Interviewer: It's been a little while, but congratulations on the success of your 5th anniversary live performance at the Zero Arena inaugural event!
Momo: Thank you very much!
Yuki: Thank you.
Interviewer: Your live concert was very exciting. Could you please share your honest thoughts?
Yuki: It was our honor as Re:vale to be chosen to perform in such a special place like Zero Arena.
Yuki: I'm grateful to all the staff who worked hard to make the show a success, to TRIGGER and IDOLiSH7 for their support and their performances, and to all the fans who came to see us.
Yuki: I’m sincerely glad that Momo and I worked so hard together.
Yuki: Right, Momo?
Momo: Yeah!
Momo: I'm really grateful too! I want to thank each and every one of them as loudly as I can!
Yuki: We’re also glad we were able to cover a Zero song as planned.
Momo: And the exclusive one-night shuffle units with TRIGGER and IDOLiSH7 were super exciting too!
Interviewer: Speaking of TRIGGER and IDOLiSH7, they did perform a medley of Re:vale songs, how did you decide on that?
Momo: Actually they didn’t inform us about that, it was a complete surprise!
Yuki: It sure was.
Yuki: We were as surprised as the audience, if not more.
Momo: I almost cried even though we were about to perform!
Yuki: You mean you were actually crying.
Momo: Come on, Yuki, don't reveal Momo-chan's secrets so casually!
Yuki: Fufu. My bad.
Interviewer: I see. Thank you for sharing that precious memory with us!
Interviewer: Allow me to change the topic, could you share your thoughts on this cover photoshoot?
Momo: The shoot was so much fun! There was Re:vale spray-painted on the set which was very exciting!
Yuki: It was. The letters weren't very visible in the end because we stood in front of them, but it was nice to have a set specifically dedicated to us.
Momo: And the outfits exuded our adult charms thanks to the casual jackets and hats, don’t you think!?
Momo: Right, Yuki?
Yuki: Fufu. For me at least. Momo didn't give off much of an adult vibe.
Momo: Huh!? That's not true! I was oozing with charm, right!?
Interviewer: Yes! You both looked wonderful.
Interviewer: The theme of this issue is "Secret Talk with Close Friends", so please tell us about a moment where you felt grateful for having a partner.
Yuki: I'm not good at socializing or livening up the mood, so Momo's ability to make everyone around him happy helps me out a lot.
Momo: I'm happy, but you say that all the time~ Tell me something new!
Yuki: Then show us your example, Momo.
Momo: For me, it's Yuki's cooking!
Momo: I'm really happy that he makes dishes with meat just for me since he doesn’t even eat it! I can really feel your love!
Yuki: Hmm, I see what you mean.
Yuki: Then, during our indie days when Momo and I were still living together in poverty, Momo never got mad at me even when I was getting fired from my part time jobs. I’d love to thank you for that.
Yuki: Thank you.
Momo: You went back in time out of nowhere!?
Yuki: It's about how grateful I am to you ever since we started working together.
Momo: Here it is! Yuki's handsome comment!
Momo: You're in such high spirits today, you’re making my heart flutter!
Yuki: Fufu. Sorry for always being so handsome.
Interviewer: Since we’re already at it, is there anything you'd like to tell your partner?
Momo: Yuki, there's still a confession you haven’t told me yet, right!?
Yuki: Why does it have to be a confession?
Momo: Because we're on the cover, so it's a great opportunity!
Momo: Please give me a warm confession that will convey our relationship to those who don’t know about Re:vale!
Yuki: Wait. Don't ask me to do things outside my expertise out of nowhere.
Momo: No way... I've always trusted you, Yuki... Was I just a game to you...!?
Yuki: No, not in the slightest.
Momo: If you don't share that special confession, Momo-chan might not recover...
Yuki: Ahh, are we doing this?
Momo: Momo-chan might not recover...
Yuki: Alright...
Yuki: "Until the end of the world, you’re the one and only partner for me in the universe." …*chuckles*
Momo: Yuki, you’ll ruin everything if you laugh at the end!
Yuki: I tried my best, so cut me some slack.
Interviewer: Thank you for the passionate messages!
Momo: Actually, TRIGGER’s Gaku came up with this line for me.
Yuki: The Number One most desired Man is also handsome on the inside, isn’t he?
Momo: I respect him for being able to churn out a dramatic line like that without any shame, even though he’s our junior!
Yuki: That’s right. No matter how many times I say it, it doesn't sound as manly as when he does.
Momo: You'll sound good if you don't laugh halfway through, Yuki!
Interviewer: Now onto the next question. Where do you see Re:vale in 10 years?
Yuki: I'll be 36, Momo will be 35, and it'll be Re:vale's 15th anniversary in ten years.
Momo: I'll work hard so that Yuki doesn't replace me with a younger guy!
Yuki: Hey, don’t say something that might cause misunderstandings.
Momo: Because I'm working on anti-aging!
Yuki: You’ll still be my partner even ten years from now, right? I’m looking forward to working with you more, Momo.
Momo: Yeah! Looking forward to it too, Yuki!
Momo: If I can still be with you and Re:vale in ten years then that's enough to make me happy!
Yuki: Thank you, Momo. I’ll be happy too.
Momo: I’m gonna be a bit greedy, but I’ll also be super happy if all our fans continue supporting us in ten years like they do now!
Yuki: Fufu. Indeed.
Interviewer: Lastly, please share a message for your fans who continue to support you.
Momo: I hope everyone enjoys the cover issue featuring Re:vale.
Momo: We were able to be on the cover of the magazine and succeed in the inaugural performance thanks to everyone's support! Thank you!
Momo: You have plenty of choices with so many charming idols featured in the magazine, including TRIGGER and IDOLiSH7, but please continue to support Re:vale!
Yuki: We were able to achieve all of this, from the magazine cover to the inaugural performance, all thanks to our fans who believed in Momo and I and kept supporting us.
Yuki: We will continue to do our best to keep offering the best Re:vale, so please continue supporting us.
The End

'The Language of Flowers' and Heartbreak: How Amanda Lehan Canto Isn't Letting Us Rest During This Season of Love - NME
There are certain times wherein an artist truly surprises their audience - it happened when Beyonce suddenly released her self-titled album with no rollout or announcement, it happened with Frank Ocean's Blonde, and it happened with Fall Out Boy's sudden return from their hiatus with Save Rock & Roll, but truly nothing could prepare both music critics and casual listeners than a breakup album being released on Valentine's Day. It was definitely a risky move, but it's a risky move that greatly paid off when Amanda Lehan Canto's The Language of Flowers immediately shot up in the Billboard charts on its first week. Hailing from the indie pop band FTC, Lehan-Canto reminds their fans to expect the unexpected by delivering a languid folk album about the one that got away. Filled with Lehan-Canto's soothing melodies and simple but effective production, The Language of Flowers speaks of a relationship crumbling apart but the love still remaining.
"I always described it as a love letter disguised as a breakup album when I was writing it all down," Lehan-Canto tells us in a quick interview. "I wanted to tell a story of how love is present even after something ends; it's a bittersweet thing, but then again, most things in life are." Though this is her first solo album, The Language of Flowers definitely doesn't feel like an album for a first breakup; rather, it's dedicated to your most memorable breakup, the one that'll latch inside your heart. Songs like New York and I'll Wear Your Ring reveal the 'quiet acceptance' stage of a breakup, while Night Shift and Slow Dancing In A Burning Room confess something more sorrowful. We don't know who this album is dedicated to - or if it's dedicated to someone at all (rumors of the mystery subject either being The Chosen's Shayne Topp or fellow bandmate Kimmy Jimenez were immediately debunked as soon as the album was released, though fans are speculating it has something to do with Lehan-Canto unfollowing Angela Giarratana - member of the underground pop trio Lets Do This - on all her socials.) All we know is that fans better give Amanda flowers and chocolates in the next FTC tour. The Language of Flowers is proof that Lehan-Canto has what it takes to break out of the saturated indie scene with heartwrenching lyrics and a soulful sound, and we can't wait to see how she uses her songwriting prowess in her next solo (or FTC) album.

yikes. you should try to get to know Louis.
he was always an oasis/green day guy, into indie brit rock.
not surprised a larrie is looking down at him, but still. the way you people think so little of him, as if his taste and choices dont matter unless they're exactly like harry.
I just need to understand. Do you think Louis have chosen this indie kind of music style to support his laddy image?
I very much think it’s actually the music style Louis likes and he’s finally confident and free enough to make the music he really wants? It’s not a secret to anyone that he wasn’t a big fan of the first 1D albums and he did what he could to get their music in another direction.
Yes the music style goes well with his laddy bro image, but I doubt that he chose the music style because of that.
Hello, anon (yes, these two asks are from the same anon)
First of all, "he was always a oasis/green day guy" is simply not true and i'm pretty tired of this attempt at rewriting history. If you go back and actually look at the evidence and what Louis has said himself you will see that.
Jay said that Louis was obsessed with S club 7 from a young age. On Louis' own bebo account he had a list of his favourite artists and bands. Do you remember which one's he mentioned? I do. He was in a band the Rogue which did covers of hit songs. Do you know which songs they performed? Songs like I got a feeling by the Black eyes peas. Louis is also into musicals, he played Danny in Grease and has mentioned that his favourite movie is Grease and his favourite song from Grease is Hopelessly devoted to you. He's got a tattoo of a Nickleback song, he and H went to the same the Script concert. His guilty pleasure music is Abba. He covered Look after you by the Fray and didn’t sing anything Oasis, britpop or indie at his xft auditions.
He has mentioned being a Green day fan, but there is zero evidence from 1991-2020 (ish) that Louis has ever been into britpop. I can buy that he was a casual fan (like 99% of the british population in the 90's.). But this "Oasis is my inspiration, i've always been a massive fan" thing? That's a narrative they've created recently, to match his change in image and sound. He's never had an Oasis poster in his bedroom, or worn an Oasis t-shirt. He's never been to an Oasis concert. He was 4 years old when Wonderwall came out. I honestly think he's more of a 00's music kid than 90's, because that's what all the evidence suggests.
I think that Louis and his team felt he needed to find himself as an artist and find his sound. Who is Louis Tomlinson the artist? The pop world is hard to compete in, and i think he gave up trying to make it in that genre (with that note he posted about redefining what success means to him). He also needs to appear straight and like a lad that's into women, and he's northern, so his label probably suggested that he'd lean into his northern, common lad, chavvy style roots and northern common lad music. They probably suggested he'd go back to the 90's glory days of northern, common lad music and replicate that. It's something he is able to do, it doesn’t feel foreign to him and like pretending, and i don't think he dislikes the music.
I think Louis music style is still very much pop, with elements of indie, punk rock and alt. Music. But it's still too pop to be classified as something else. Matt Vines can say that Louis is indie and has always been indie with his full chest. That won't ever make it true. You can’t rewrite history.

Beginning with their first episode airing on April 12, 2019, JTBC's SUPERBAND would take sixty male contestants from the indie scene to create their own band in the live finale. The series is composed of fourteen total episodes and concluded on July 12, 2019, with an average of 3% viewership in South Korea. In the end, the top five placements were HOPPIPOLLA, DEATH VALLEY, LUCY, PURPLE RAIN, and MONÉ. The competition was further split into introduction performances, one-on-one battles, two semi-finals, and the live finale with judging by Yoon Jongshin, Yoon Sang, Nell's Kim Jongwan, Linkin Park's Joe Hahn, and AKMU's Lee Suhyun. Superband was met with mixed responses with positives for allowing indie artists to show off their talent for the world and negative ones based on fans not being able to vote until round four, poor judging, and lack of female artists.
THE SOUND OF DEATH VALLEY.
THE MEMBERS OF DEATH VALLEY.
Tumblr media
SAWYER LEE ( 1999 ), born as Lee Siyul, is a musician and producer hailing from Chicago, Illinois, United States and currently signed under Superbloom Media. In 2019, he made his first public appearance on Superband and would place second as DEATH VALLEY's leader, pianist, and vocalist.
KO SEUNGMIN ( 1999 ) is a musician and teacher from Seoul, South Korea. After the unofficial "disbandment" of DEATH VALLEY—where he was the drummer—he would become a secondary music teacher to fall back on. As of 2022, he signed with JYP's Studio J and debuted as the drummer of DOGFIGHT.
YOON TAEYUN ( 2000 ) is a musician and member of SAFETY ZONE, which still remains independent to this day. He competed on Superband with his members, however, they were all eliminated before the semi-finals. Taeyun would join DEATH VALLEY as their bassist and one of their lead producers.
OLIVER SONG ( 2001 ) is a member of the idol band PLASTIC FLOWERS, serving as their guitarist and lead vocalist, and calls Boston, Massachusetts his hometown. He is currently signed under Superbloom Media and has risen alongside his original members to become one of the best selling bands in the industry.
THE OLIVER SONG EXPERIENCE ... INTRODUCTION — ROUND THREE.
Coming into Superband, no one knew who OLIVER SONG was. Plastic Flowers was still struggling to sell 1,000 copies of their new albums and the band had just wrapped on promotions for Hypocreep just the month before. On April 12, Oliver would be introduced to the public as one of the vocalists on Superband with his cover of Fleetwood Mac's BIG LOVE, from their fourteenth studio album TANGO IN THE NIGHT. Though he impressed judges with his fingerpicking and vocals, they would complain the cover did not go "far enough" as his own rendition of such an iconic song. With just his voice and a guitar, the judges were also surprised by his attention to the cameras and basic stage presence. It was noted early into his critiques that not only had he debuted as a member of PLASTIC FLOWERS, but he was the YOUNGEST CONTESTANT as well.
This would also begin the small feud he had with Linkin Park's JOE HAHN as he wanted to push Oliver to his true potential throughout the competition. LEE SUHYUN enjoyed his performance the most and they actually remain close friends outside of Superband. According to the judges, his nerves got in the way of what would have been a great performance and Oliver needed to work on that for future rounds. Despite this, Oliver was chosen as a FRONTMAN for the first round of performances.
Teaming with pianist SAWYER LEE, bassist SHIN DURI, and drummer JEONG ILSEONG, he was demoted to just vocalist and found it difficult to perform without something in his hands. They went with a cover of Nirvana this time, choosing HEART-SHAPED BOX to showcase their individual talents. However, the song was met with less than stellar reviews because the group lacked synergy and lost to their rivals, who performed a cover of TVXQ's hit MIROTIC. All the members were considered for elimination and sadly, Duri and Ilseong were let go by the judges. They have since gone on to create other bands and are relatively successful despite their short run. However, this loss messed with Oliver's confidence moving forward and this would give him the UNDERDOG edit for the rest of the season. It was obvious that the judges and production liked Oliver, but without him proving his worth, they struggled to keep his momentum in the first few episodes.
Poppies were sad to see Oliver have very little confidence throughout the beginning of Superband and many have stated they cannot watch before episode 7. For the second round, Oliver was chosen as a surprise by drummer PARK YEONGJIN to join himself, YANG JIWAN, KIM HAJIN, and ISAAC HONG in a cover of Lorde's ROYALS. According to Yeongjin, this would be the only time that they could work together and he wanted to test the dynamic. Going against the now iconic An Seongjin team with their original composition of F=MA, Gwyn was nervous but his team had something up their sleeves. From their initial composition with Yeongjin's now iconic, "the two that sing" before calling both Isaac and Gwyn as their vocalists, this team was different.
There was the initial worry that finding a middle ground was going to be impossible for the five musicians as seen in the confessionals. Oliver was still surprised even when being interviewed and apologies were given by Park Yeongjin as a joke to the vocalists. Though not much was seen from the initial practices, the five members quickly came together to formulate the perfect arrogant with Oliver being told to sing "arrogantly" by his teammates. From the first moments of their performance, everyone was shocked to see this new, darker side of Isaac and Oliver as they shared the stage in a duet. For this performance, Oliver showed off his abilities on the keyboard and other instruments to provide the perfect sound when he was not singing. The most iconic part was the bridge as Isaac and Oliver provided harmonization and belted to the gods as their instrumental counterparts highlighted their own talents, with the last minute going viral with fans.
According to the judges, this performance was the ultimate reversal. Gwyn was even given the opportunity to shout out his bandmates when stating that he had done rock and roll with their previous releases and was surprisingly more confident than in the previous stages. He was successful in making the judges his fans from this performance as they enjoyed seeing a more confident side of the idol. Nell's Kim Jongwan and Mystic Entertainment's Yoon Jongshin became his biggest supporter from this moment. With two iconic performances, this could have gone either way and thankfully, the judges voted 2:3 in favor of Royals, securing their first win.
Coming off their win with Royals, Park Yeongjin decided to KEEP his lineup for a second performance of THE TIME OF MY LIFE from Dirty Dancing. Unlike the previous round, it was less shocking when they decided to stick together. However, they struggled when choosing a song as the expectations were already high for the group. Utilizing the same positions as before, Oliver remained the second vocalist, keyboardist, and synthesizer. He also had to give some 'dance' lessons to Isaac Hong for the performance, bringing them much closer as the 'brothers' of Superband. Another successful performance, they won against Shin Hyeongbin's team 4:1.
THE FORMATION OF DEATH VALLEY ... ROUND FOUR — SEMI FINALS.
After the third round, the bands could reshuffle for the last time before creating their respective bands. Having proved himself competent enough to stand against Isaac Hong, Oliver was a popular choice for those desperate to make it to the last few episodes. However, he had already made promises to SAWYER and they just needed to find two more partners—a bassist and a drummer. The pair had made a pack after Oliver's second win in that last episode and wanted to show the judges that they could work well together. They went for the overlooked options as neither TAEYUN nor SEUNGMIN had been a part of a winning team but seemed interested in making the same type of music as them. Within the first twenty minutes, they were the second group to finish choosing members. Many were surprised by the lineup considering how popular both Sawyer and Oliver were, but they had a plan forming in the background.
In the fourth round, Sawyer's team would release one last cover of OSASIS'S CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA, which was met with stellar reviews from the judges. Oliver was much more relaxed and confident on stage, especially now that he had his guitar back in hand. Seeing how Isaac's freedom on stage was taken positively, Oliver let go as he swung the microphone around and did some stupid dances. Rather than focusing on keeping what made Champagne Supernova iconic in the first place, Sawyer and his team would put a few of their own touches on the song and just have fun being on stage. his welcomed change awarded the band with 453 points, tying them with LEE JUHYEOK and the future members of LUCY for second place. The judging panel complimented their composition, calling it something they had not seen yet and Oliver's newfound confidence. It was even advised that they stick together by Yoon Jongshin as they had found something great together.
With compliments like that, they formed DEATH VALLEY in the 12th episode of Superband. No one was surprised to see this lineup when they all met together before the performances. As their first live performance with an actual audience, SEUNGMIN was worried that about impressing the fans as they were all struggled with confidence throughout the show.
They presented their first original composition in the form of FARTHER AND FARTHER, a ballad about longing and memories. In their critiques, YOON SANG stated that seeing this newfound freedom from both OLIVER and SAWYER was amazing compared to the first round. While the song was met with great feedback from both judges and fans, there was no overtaking LUCY with CRY BIRD. Death Valley, however, did take SECOND PLACE with 7,410 votes.
OUR PAGE was definitely a Plastic Flowers reject and Poppies were quick to notice after the episode aired. Despite this, they earned almost a perfect score from the live audience and secured FIRST PLACE with 7,470 points, with HOPPIPOLLA not far behind them. With the two having very similar performances that showcased a new side of their bands, it made many confused as to what the audience and judges were looking for. They were given, once again positive feedback from the judges, however, they were given the challenge to make something more exciting. While these songs were good, none of them seemed like lead singles for their first album and Joe Hahn wanted to see that from the quartet in their next performance as it was the last stage. If they could make something lead single-worthy, they would have no problem winning.
SECOND PLACE IS THE FIRST LOSER ... THE LIVE FINALE.
Taking the advice of Joe Hahn to heart, the members of Death Valley got to work on their next song. For leader Siyul, it would make no sense for the group to prepare a cover this late into the game and need to come up with something brand new. They took similar themes from OUR PAGE and transformed them for TAKE MY HAND, a promise to their new fans and breaking away from the fear that had held onto them throughout the entire competition. They kept with their FLOWER BOY aesthetic and fought hard against their competitors, however, OLIVER struggles with his in-ear caused some weird sections as he attempted to shove the device back into his ear to hear the music, which was clocked by both judges and the audience. Death Valley ended up ranking SECOND OVERALL in the competition, earning 27,389 votes total.
THE AFTERMATH ... WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Following the end of Superband, each other members went their separate ways. OLIVER returned to Plastic Flowers and his popularity during Superband brought the first wave of new fans to the band. He has since become the creative lead of the team along with debuting as a soloist in March of 2023. SAWYER followed close behind Gwyn and signed with Superbloom Media as a songwriter and producer. The pair often collaborate, as seen with Burnout Syndrome. Sawyer currently has no plans of debuting solo or in another band at the current moment. SEUNGMIN returned to his college program and recently earned his teaching license in South Korea! Though he went back to his original band, he wanted to complete his degree to have something to lean back on as DOGFIGHT struggled to gain relevance. Finally, TAEYUN went back to SAFETY ZONE, which remains an independent artist to this day and tries to release music consistently.
DEATH VALLEY would, of course, reunite not long after filming ended for the SUPERBAND TOUR, where the top five bands all reconnected. It was a bittersweet time for their fans and they promised to come back soon, which never did happen. With the FIVE-YEAR anniversary of Superband happening in 2024, the members have teased the potential for a reunion and even their own album. Given how busy each member is, it's not surprising that nothing has been set in stone but they promise something will come!

I’m going to sound like a hater but I’m disappointed. That could’ve been better. 31% of the set list was 1d/covers. I cannot believe that nc, wdbhg, dmd had a place but jho did not. How much input does he have on which songs will make the list? His fans have already proven they’ll be there for him so I’m having trouble understanding why he made this step back. Let 1dead stay dead. Festivals are a great opportunity for gp to get to know HIS music. It’s not the time to keep reminding and re-in forcing that he’s that boy bander. I wish that he stops playing it safe at the next festivals. Someone remind him that FITF is the success it was because he took a chance on himself and made the music he wanted to make. I’m sorry for the rant. Please delete if you want. Lastly, 7 and chemical also need to go.
Hi, anon. Unfortunately, i missed the live except for the last two songs but i think he did sing jho (at least it was there on the setlist). I get you, anon. I'm tired of the covers as well 😔. I know it's a festival therefore he prefers upbeat songs and songs that he mastered and is the most comfortable performing (bc why else is 7 even there? If you must do an "indie" cover at least choose 505 which is much more popular to the gp 🤷‍♀️ ). But four covers out of which THREE are from 1D is so very excessive. And It's not even about sending a message that he's now a solo artist with 2 solo albums, it's simply bc he has so many better songs that showcase what a phenomenal artist and incredible talent he is better than all those covers combined. Sooo many (all) fitf songs that could do a much better and easier job at making these strangers fall in love with his music are missing. Like hello headline and hoth would be crazy like honestly THE perfect introduction an artist can hope for. I know if i were at a festival/ concert and witnessed that hoth bridge insanity live i would look up that artist the moment he left the stage. And headline is such a fun song it's perfect for festivals. Those are just two examples, I could go on bc fitf is 10/10 album. Honestly i can understand him giving a nod to his 1D days by covering ONE of their songs and MAYBE ONE indie cover (or whatever the genre, just another artist's other than 1D) but no more. I can't help but feel like he's missing on opportunities here with the setlist that he's chosen. Although to be fair to him, it IS a very good setlist just not using his discography to its full potential

VIDEO | The audience screamed from excitement! Alika and Käärijä surprised the crowd at the concert of Slovenian Eurovision band Joker Out
Tumblr media
On Tuesday the crowd in Helitehas was hyped up by the band Joker Out, that represented Slovenia in last years Eurovision. In addition to Balkan musicians, Alika and Finnish sensation Käärijä made the crowd move their hips.
Slovenian hit band Joker out represented their country in Eurovision last year with the song "Carpe Diem". The band made it to the final and gave Slovenia the 21st spot. Surprisingly, the song claimed the 35th spot on the Raadio 2 Aastahit (Hit of the year) foreign songs leaderboard.
On Tuesday the 5th of March the band performed in Estonia for the first time, and it was the third concert in their ongoing "See You Soon" European tour. The concert in Tallinn was filled with surprises and exciting artists featured throughout the evening - Alika and Käärijä.
A visitor to the party said that the long line for the best viewing spots was already unusual. Half an hour before the doors opened the line was tens of meters long and by the time the doors opened the line was twice as long.
A majority of the audience was made up by young people. Additionally, there was many Finnish fans in the audience, who had already gone to the band's concert in Finland in the beginning of March, and who did not find it a hassle to go to the Tallinn concert as well.
Surprising Eurovision artists
The band offered many surprises to the audience that had showed up. The first of those was a really touching and heartwarming song for Estonians. Someone in the audience sent an Estonian flag to the stage and when Bojan, the soloist, had put it on his shoulders like an athlete the group who had sent the flag started singing the song "Eestlane olen ja eestlaseks jään" ("I am Estonian and I will remain Estonian" [Translator's note: patriotic protest song from the Estonian Singing Revolution]), and the remaining audience soon joined in.
There were even more surprises. In the middle of the concert the band suddenly invited Alika Milova to the stage, who represented Estonia in the big Eurovision song contest last year. The beloved Eurovision artist came on stage, waved at the audience happily, and to the joy of the audience performed her known hit song "Bridges".
The last surprise arrived when Joker Out were clapped back onto the stage after the last song for an encore. Suddenly the lights turned green and soloist Bojan started singing "Cha cha cha" by the sensation of last years Eurovision - Käärijä. A moment later Käärijä himself walked onto stage and together they sang the rest of the song while the enthralled audience screeched.
Opener chosen by lottery
The band's local opener was chosen using the fairy godmother method. Before the tour they announced on their social media that fans should name some lesser-known bands in their country that should perform as the openers for Joker Out's concert, and then they chose their opener using a raffle. For the Tallinn concert, luck was on the side of indie band Tidi&Bande.
Additionally, the Slovenian band had their own opener with them from Ireland, who talked freely and happily with the audience and among other things told an amusing story of how he ended up touring Europe with Joker Out. "One day me and my friend decided to go drink Guinness that is made there. My friend said okay and added that he will be bringing a few of his friends from Slovenia along," the Irish musician explained. After this meeting he was asked to join and sing together with the band in Europe.
Joker Out band was constantly receiving cries of joy. The majority of the audience knew all the lyrics of the songs and they sang along, the audience also knew all the lyrics to their newest song "Everybody's Waiting", that only came out in February.
Exciting tradition
It has become tradition at the band's concerts that Joker Out will let a few people in the audience sing a part of their song "Umazane Misli". There's a ritual that has developed around this song: first a sign with text is made in the style of "Can I sing part of "Umazane Misli"?" and then the sign is held up during the concert at the right time. It is sung in either Slovenian or they have prepared a version in the language of their own country, which is then performed. Rumour has it, that the tradition started when at an earlier concert they spontaneously let someone sing the song. Now singing it is tradition or even a mandatory and long awaited part of the concert.

100 Albums To Understand Muse - Part 10 [STYLE Series #004 - Muse (August 2010)]
Tumblr media
THE POLICE Synchronicity (1983) A trio formation, the overwhelming technique of each member, and the coexistence of experimentalism and stadium-rock dynamism that mastered various types of music……. The final album by a band with much in common with Muse. Sting's (vo, b) charisma shines through on such classics as ‘I Wish I Was Staring’, ‘Synchronicity’ and ‘King of Pain’. -S
PRIMUS Pork Soda (1993) One of the bands that the Muse members were crazy about when they first started playing in bands. The trio formed in California and featured a progressive style of playing that could be described as bizarre and perverse. The heart of the band is Les Claypool's bass, which is pushed to the forefront, and his blurred vocals. This album was released in 1993, and was their first album to be released. -K
QUEEN A Night At The Opera (1975) Unique guitar sound, multiple recordings, theatrical elements……. Queen's influence on Muse has been enormous, but the amount of inspiration from this masterpiece is immeasurable. Without the five-part drama ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘United States of Eurasia’ might never have been born. ‘Seaside Rendezvous’ was also the title of their triumphant return to Teignmouth in 2009. -S
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE Songs For The Deaf (2002) Third album by the band led by Josh Homme, the underground watchdog of the US indie world. The sound of this album is extremely toxic, produced by Josh, who has a wide range of contacts in punk and alternative metal, and has invited a number of strong guests. Matthew was also hit by this poison when he was working on Muse's fourth album, and for a while he listed them as his favourites. - J
RADIOHEAD The Bends (1995) When the band [Muse] debuted in 1999, their predecessors were compared to them in many ways. The reason why I say I prefer this album to OK Computer, which was a masterpiece at the time, is probably because of its emphasis on melody and dynamism. This is Radiohead's most straightforward and intense rock work. Many emo bands in the USA are fans of this album. -K
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Rage Against The Machine (1992) The first album from the band led by Tom Morello, whom guitarist Matthew worships as a god. Matthew is fascinated by Tom, an idea man who can create strange trick sounds with little more than cheap equipment. He has been open about his influences since the beginning of his career. The second Muse album in particular is full of Rage-derived phrases. -J
RAY CHARLES The Genius Hits The Road (1960) Matthew was first introduced to the piano as a child by listening to Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder, and listening to this might certainly make you want to play. This is one of Ray's ‘Genius’ series, which straddles the line between jazz, pop and R&B, and features a wide variety of songs such as ‘Ganbare Jack’ and ‘My Heart's Georgia’. -S
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991) A masterpiece from the band, a deep and muscular refinement of a unique sound that blends funk, hard rock, hip-hop and blues. Overwhelming technique, rich individuality and Anthony's genius as a poet are stunning. Matthew and Dom saw them at the Reading festival in 1994 and were impressed. In 1999, they were chosen to front the band. -S

Niall Horan, who has been traveling through Europe for just over a month with the first leg of his world tour , presented The Show: Live On Tour last night at the Wizink Center in Madrid . The last time he set foot in the capital of Spain was in 2018, with the Flicker World Tour. On that occasion, La Riviera hosted the Irishman's concert; a room of 2,000 people that was nothing like the more than 80,000 (in Wembley, for example) that he was able to gather during his time in One Direction.
It is also true that, six years ago, Niall took his first steps alone. He had to not so much start from scratch, but rather be cautious, tread carefully and test the waters. Build his own identity apart from the boyband that had given him everything (without forgetting his origins).
His good work led him to publish a second studio album Heartbreak Weather, whose concert series – under the name Nice To Meet Ya Tour – was suspended due to Covid-19. Fortunately, the pandemic passed and the singer continued making music... until publishing The Show , his most recent album.
And with said album, the artist returned yesterday, March 23, to a large venue and, of course, to meet again with the fans of our country, specifically, close to 17,000. With the lineup sold out for several months, Niall took to the stage to show that he is made to be a frontman and exude talent, sense of humor and charisma.
After having Tommy Lefroy as the opening act , the indie rock duo formed by Tessa Mouzourakis and Wyntel Bethel, it was the turn of THE SHOW in capital letters. An interlude composed of classics by Fleetwood Mac, Queen, ABBA (and even La Macarena by Los del Río) gave a clue about the musical theater setting of the 70s that had been chosen for this tour, as well as livened up the wait until nine at night, the time when the lights went out to raise the imposing beige curtain that occupied most of the stage.
The screens on the sides introduced the leader and his band, as well as welcoming the audience, who immediately expressed their enthusiasm with shouts and flashes . "Buenas noche, Madrid" gave rise to Nice to meet now, a song that started a two and a half hour long performance. They followed a mashup of Small talk with a version of Edge of seventeen , by Stevie Nicks; She's on the loose and On a night like tonight.
After these four songs, Niall greeted his audience: "Hello, Madrid. Welcome to The Show live on Tour, baby. Thank you for selling out at this venue . Are you ready to have the best fucking night of your lives? Come on, Spain! " he exclaimed. Next, he sat down at the piano to perform the song titled from his third album, The Show.
The rhythm, interrupted by the native language
Since We're Alone, Heartbreak Weather and Black and White heated up the atmosphere enough to delay for a few minutes the acoustic block that Mullingar had prepared. The singer and three of his musicians formed a circle on the catwalk that brought him a little closer to the fans in the front rows - a privileged position that some had achieved by sacrificing four nights spending the night at the doors of Wizink - to sing Science , This Town and You could start a Cult.
However, the constant cheers and ovations he received prevented for a moment from transforming the hectic atmosphere of that space into a calmer one . "Tranquilo, tranquilo," the host said in perfect Spanish. Some words that only provoked more applause and the unison chorus of a compliment that he still didn't know... until now. Despite being a great fan of our language, Niall was not familiar with the word "guapo" and, when he discovered what it means, he wanted to return the compliment. "You guys are beautiful [...] And you are very good singers," he said in English.
This would not be the only moment in which the normal rhythm of the concert would be interrupted. Horan's eyes fell on a banner, which said: "We sing you La Macarena and you dance ." And as an idol he owes himself to his audience, said and done. The young man dared to cross his arms and move his hips three times in a row, to the madness and amusement of those present.
The 'One Direction infection' is still valid
Songs like Heaven, Everywhere, Paper Houses, Meltdown, Still, Save My Life and Slow Hands —as a final culmination—completed the setlist, which differed in a couple of songs compared to the previous date in Assago (Italy), so just two days before. Before playing Mirrors , Niall revealed that he composed it in 2016 when he saw a girl crying in a cafe while on the phone. "Many times we are so busy with ourselves that we do not realize the lives that pass us by, nor what can happen to them ," he said, so it occurred to him to invent a story with this situation as the protagonist.
And, despite the fact that that year was the same year in which One Direction made their separation effective (after the publication of Made in the AM ), the truth is that the British boyband is still alive, very alive. Horan not only remembered the last time he set foot in Spain with the formation with which he achieved global stardom, "the Vicente Calderón stadium, in 2014", he also wanted to thank the loyalty and affection received after all these years . "You are incredible. Thank you for coming to see me. That this is my job will never cease to surprise me, and I will never get tired of giving concerts. I hope to continue doing it for a long time," he reiterated several times, visibly excited.
For this reason, he did not hesitate to perform Night Changes, an anthem not only for the directioners or for Niall, but also for Louis and Harry, who have also included it in their respective concerts. Nor did he hesitate to print his name on a T-shirt for the merchandising of Take Me Home , the second album whose cover shows the five members surrounding and climbing a London telephone booth. "Of course I'll sign it for you," she said, and madness broke out in the room.

you should be hoping sm doesn't pull on DJJ the same crap they pulled on CBX instead of asking why a fan would want them to leave the company. LSM was literally a money launderer.... the good music will follow an idol no matter where they go if they are talented. so you shouldn't be worried if jaedo leaves sm. if you are a fan, you need to be by their side, not sm's. what if sm doesn't pay them too? if sm was scamming CBX out of their money you don't think they are doing to other artists? if i remember correctly LSM was hoarding all the wayv money for himself 😭
I'm not on SM's side, I don't work for them, and I'm not a company stan.
I'm also a freelancer, a person who prefers financial instability to working for a company and following someone else's rules. Never lasted more than a year in an institution.
You, fans who cry your faves need to leave their company this instant, are very naive and detached from reality. Many of you don't even yet pay taxes or feed a family.
Good music doesn't follow nice idols. If it was so, the talented yt singers and indie artists would have showered the world with bangers and got money from their talents. Instead of singing covers in local bars and their tiny yt channels. Somehow it is "factory produced" pop-stars and rappers instead who get famous.
There is no "dating app" for producers. You need to know people, have connections, or be the one everyone sends their demos to. It was hated by the fans Chris Lee who travelled around the globe and collected all those European and American producers. It is SM's money and reputation that makes aspiring Korean producers send them their tracks in hopes of being chosen.
There are very few songwriters among idols. Even fewer idols who can be a manager or a CEO. There are more than 3 hundred idol companies in Korea, and only 5 or 7 are really successful. Even Pledis with self-producing 17, an idol group second only to BTS in popularity, was bought by Hybe (i.e. they had to sell themselves otherwise they couldn't continue).
Look at Jessi. She is very talented, she is good at variety, she knows a lot of people in the industry, she writes her own songs, and she struggles non-stop. She was scummed by one of the people who she hired, an orginiser for her concerts in Europe.
Look at Kang Daniel. He was and stays one of the most popular idols in Korea, he is a phenomenon. He opened his own company, he works like a horse on tv programmes to promote himself. And even his album sales started to go down.
2019: 500,134 copies sold
2020: 603,961 copies sold
2021: 320,114 copies sold
2022: 404,261 copies sold
2023: 171,552 copies sold
Where is Chungha?
I'm not saying it is impossible to become famous on your own, or that staying with one's company is always the best choice. No. It's business. Both sides use each other. Being a part of a big company has its downsides. Being independant or a part of a small company also has its downsides. SM is not strong in acting area, so leaving it as an actor (D.O.) or musical actor (Kyuhyun) makes sense. When it comes to idol music though?
You mentioned CBX.
On June 3, Ten Asia announced that Baekhyun has established his own company called "I&B100" and founded it on June 23 of last year before the issue of renewal contracts with SM was raised. Baekhyun will continue to work "separately and together" with SM through his own label during the contract renewal period. On June 19, SM and the three members announced that both parties had resolved their differences over contract dispute and the members had decided to stay with the agency.
Why the talented and super famous Exo members "resolved" their differences instead of leaving the hateful company? Because they are not stupid. They fought for their rights and improved their terms, but they still need SM's resources, the money that participation in Exo will bring. Baek's company is a production company. He can safely run it, make trial tests, learn the craft. And only later, when everything is running smoothly, when he gained reputation and trust, he can go into real independant sailing.
OK. Doyoung or Jaehyun leaves SM today. Where will they go? JYP? YG? The most famous and successul current soloists are Taeyeon, Baekhyun, Taemin (SM/Kakao), IU (Kakao), BTS guys and PSY. PSY has his own company, but Jessi left him, Hyuna left him, his boy group released only one EP and dissapeared. He is a bad producer and CEO, apparently.
Open their own companies? Doyoung didn't even finish school. He wants to be a CEO one day and he will. However, right now he has neither the capital, neither the fame to pull it off. Everything he gained was through SM. It is not enough to find a good song. You need investors who will pay for your MVs, you need album distributors and streaming platforms, you need PR managers who will look for tv-appearence opportunities and BA deals. You need translators and editors for YT content. Will Doyoung find them all on the street? With tens of years of experience under their belt?
NCT got their own centre. The right way for Doyoung is not to leave SM, but seize this centre, get producing and creative control over it, get all the executives under his thumb.
Different idols suit different companies. Soyeon wouldn't be given the free reign over her group in SM. It's because Cube failed with CLC, they risked it and tried to trust her talent of a producer. G-Dragon wouldn't become G-Dragon in SM either. And 17 became self-producing because Pledis was postponing their debut, didn't have money. On the other hand, Taeyong wouldn't have become Taeyong outside of SM. If Soyeon is a dandelion capable of growing through concrete. He is a capricious rose in need of a glasshouse.
SM is a company built by its artists as much as by the staff behind the scene. The older idols walked for newer idols to run. Taemin had to fight for the right to have more influence on the production side of his albums. Key fought for his vision. Kai invested his own resources. Seulgi and Taeyong? Practically produced their first albums. Shinee, even 127 gave out snacks to their first fans to slowly build a fanbase. Riize sold their single 1mln+ and are on top of brandrep after half a year after the debut.
Compare Hansol and Sungchan. One left. One stayed. Where are they now?

so, about those hand jumper playlists
Went down a little rabbit hole the other day with the author of Hand Jumper's playlists on Spotify. There's one for each member of Cell 4, and a private playlist for Butcher that @binnieceo kindly linked for me. Each one is exactly 6 songs long (except the Butcher one). I haven't listened to Min's yet.
First impressions: The lyrics of each song fit HJ so well. This isn't just music that kind of fits the vibe of each character; the first song on Sayeon's playlist stunned me.
Looking back at a face Barely recognize you But the eyes are a shade Of the same perfect blue I watched you change into someone new Saw it all degrade into déjà vu Who are you? Perfect blue
Because Sayeon's eyes turn blue when she uses her powers?? Same with Samin?? And time powers... DEJA VU???????? ok joking aside. There's no doubt in my mind that this song is about Sayeon's and Samin's metamorphoses, and more generally, about their relationship. There are other moments in Sayeon's playlist specifically that were really perfect.
But geez, my second big thought is that these playlists are REALLY DEPRESSING. I'm a basic pop/indie bitch so maybe I'm just not used to how downer alt rock/grunge is, which Sleepacross is clearly a fan of. But even Iseul's playlist, which is the most upbeat of the four by a wide margin, has some really sad lyrics. They don't bode well for his character arc.
I'm really tempted to do some little write ups on these. 6 songs/playlist is super small, like my character playlists are 40 songs long on average, but I think that's because each song was really purposefully chosen. Ryujin's playlist is both really interesting and kind of gay.

Part 1. The reason Han Sohee awaits with trembling heart
Tumblr media
Q. The products in this Omega pictorial were chosen in gold colors that suit the Christmas season.
No wonder. Gold is emerging these days. I didn't wear a watch because my wrists were so thin, but I became interested in watches as I became involved with Omega. Especially after Omega gave me a watch that suits me, I started wearing it.
Q. You have really thin wrists.
That's right. If you do this (raises arms), you can't see the strap.(laughs) That's why I often wear them on top of my clothes. Among the watches I wore today, I liked the Constellation gold watch I wore on top of my clothes the most.
Q. That's true, there will be plenty of cars with clothes on. Before coming here, I really enjoyed reading Sohee's blog post. You write really well. Not only was there no inscription, but there were traces of efforts made to make it easier for the reader to understand.
That's...It wasn't easy. Whenever I write a blog, I repeat, "Write and delete", "Write and delete". I write down all the things I want to say, but I delete some because I don't need them and I'm afraid it might be confusing to read. I'm afraid it might be confusing to read neat and compact texts as much as possible. That's because I'm worried that (fans) will get bored if I talk too long. Let’s compete on quality rather than quantity of writing. That's how I feel
Q. It's also a kind attitude toward others.
From this year on, I didn't want my feelings to be passed on to my fans while writing. When I was in trouble, when I was happy, and when I was writing, I wanted my feelings at that time not to be revealed in the writing as much as possible. I want to relieve you as much as possible from worrying about me so you don't have to worry about showing your sad or difficult feelings.
Q. Almost every post has more than 4500 comments. The response has already exceeded the limit of 9900, so the count has stopped. I've never seen such a reactive blog before.
(Laughs) I’ve been doing it for a long time. I started blogging even before I debuted. I still feel more comfortable talking through blogs than through Instagram.
Tumblr media
Q. I even thought that the taste of music and movies posted on the blog was similar to me. Mogwai, Fiest, Cooks are the music that indie music fans have listened to among the so-called Generation X. I wonder how you got that taste.
Oh really? Nirvana, Radiohead, and Oasis were the first things that I started listening to music consciously when I was in middle school. It started from there and went as far as Feist and Mogwai.
Q. By the way…I listened to those songs in real time when I was in middle school. When I was in my second year of middle school, the second album of Radiohead was just released as a new album. It's amazing that Sohee and I are more than 10 years apart.
Come to think of it, there weren't that many friends who listened to music similar to mine. I think it was kind of unique. I had a temperament where I purposely didn't listen to other people go wild saying, "Good, good." There's a person like that. I'm a kid who always wears earphones at school and listens to music all day long.(laughs) That was me. I was interested in music when I was in school, but I also drew pictures. But to draw, you have to see a lot of things. I often watched music videos, exhibitions, and movies. I think I watched all the things that I could watch without any hesitation.
Q. No wonder...The latest movie you saw was "I loved you for a long time". I think you go to movie theaters often
That's right. I love going to art movie theaters alone and seeing actual exhibitions. These days, media art is very active, and there are cases where people enjoy works online first rather than seeing actual exhibitions. Still, I tend to go there myself to see the real thing as much as possible.
Q. While watching “I’ve Loved You for a Long Time,” you thought of something.
This is a story outside of movies, but I was worried that the number of people taking on the challenge of making such movies would gradually disappear. As science fiction and blockbuster movies become more and more dominant commercially, I worry that there will be no place for movies like “I’ve Loved You for a Long Time,” which make you feel heartbroken after watching them.
Q. Such stories often come up when interviewing filmmakers
I don't know the answer either. However, you won't be able to make a movie without thinking about consumers.
Q. That's right. What did you like best about the movie?
I loved Juliet's eyes, played by Kristin Scott Thomas. Even if she didn't say anything, the look in her eyes showed all the years she had gone through. Even if she was smiling, it felt like she was crying, and somehow her shadow felt darker than other people's. In fact, it may be a very unfriendly movie for some audiences.
Q. That's right. I can't help but wonder what the hell's wrong with Juliet until the movie is almost over.
But after the story was revealed, my heart was really filled with emotion.
Tumblr media
Q. Meanwhile, you also like hip musicians like DPR (Dream Perfect Regime)
That's right. I don't cover it. I just listen and watch everything
Q. But what's interesting is that you can feel the consistency of your tastes in the meantime.
I'm not sure about that either. I know for sure. My taste is firm. But if you ask me what my preference is, I don't know how to tell you. This may seem a bit nonsense, but I like things to be a bit ‘strict’.
Q. It's strict… It’s tough… What does it mean?
This is an abstract expression, but there's something I feel is a bit strict about. If you look at it broadly, it's minor, but that doesn't mean it's really minor. Nirvana, Radiohead, and Oasis were only minor among my peers, but they were actually artists who were at the peak of their era. But I can’t explain my taste in music in words.
Q. To guess what it means to be 'strict', I wonder if you're talking about the works that the makers were serious about.
I can say it's similar. I think it's easier to talk about it in a movie, and I like the movie when I feel crazy about something. For example, there are people who understand every scene logically while watching a movie, but for me, once I experience just one scene so strongly that it seems to pass through my body, I understand the intention of all other scenes. 〈I've Loved You for a Long Time〉 was like that, and Lars von Trier's 〈Melancholia〉 was also that kind of movie. It was a movie that I watched thinking, ‘What on earth are they trying to do?’, but after just one scene passed through me, I knew everything the director was trying to convey. Although I can't put into words what it all means.
Q. Is there a movie you want to recommend among the movies you've watched recently?
Among the ones I saw recently, I really liked “Detachment.” Adrien Brody plays the main character, a teacher. The movie clearly deals with a story about education. Through the eyes of a man and a human being, it shows quite directly how this ‘education’ affects the target person. While watching this movie, I liked the message that ultimately you and I can change depending on education and environment. Ultimately, it expands into a consilient message that I am just like you and you are just like me.
Q. Why haven't I seen the work yet?
Make sure you watch it. It's going to be fun.
Tumblr media
Q. Anyway, the long-awaited December has finally arrived. The highly anticipated work ‘Gyeongseong Creature’ will be released soon.
I wish it didn't come. To be honest, my mind is half and half right now. Half of my heart is that I can't wait to see December come, and half of my heart is that I'm so nervous and scared that I wish it wouldn't come.
Q. Do you get this nervous every time a work is released?
No, I don’t think so.
Q. Then...Is it because it's such a masterpiece?
That's not it either. Season 1 of ‘Gyeongseong Creature’ filmed when I was in my 20s. The first season, which was filmed about two years ago, is being released now. So I don't remember anything. I don't remember how I acted that scene, what expression I made, what senior Park Seojoon's acting was like, or even the story. It’s like waking up with amnesia and someone telling you, ‘This is a movie you shot two years ago, and it’s coming out soon.’ I think you'll probably get this kind of reaction when you see it. 'Eh? ‘I filmed this?’ (Laughs) Then you will fall into a state where neither subjective nor objective evaluation can be made. I don’t remember taking the picture, but what anyone can see is ‘me’.
Q. ah… I kind of understood what it felt like.
The only thing I can rely on at this point is the director and Seojoon senior.
Q. Like "D.P." and "Kingdom," there are some works that have been confirmed to produce season 2 before releasing season 1. They're all masterpieces.
Our work has also finished producing season 2, so it will be a masterpiece.
Q. You haven't seen the creators yet, have you?
I didn't see it. Actually, this was my first time standing in front of a green screen and doing chroma key photography. It wasn't easy at first. However, I actually experienced that situations where there were walls instead of people later made me less nervous and my imagination seemed to be more maximized.
Q. Sohee's character, Yoon Chaeok, has a unique job.
yes. She appears as a ‘Todukkun’ who is adept at finding people and never finds anyone she can’t find. It will probably be completely different from what we have shown so far.
Q. You know the fans waited for so long, right? There are so few works that have been released so far.
I know, I know. But there was no way.  I had to shoot all the time. (laughs)

IT'S TIME FOR ANOTHER MUSIC + HISTORY INFODUMP FROM YOURS TRULY
youtube
TigaPagi is an indie band from Indonesia whose music speaks historical events from our homeland. Their melodies are known to have a strong Sundanese feel, with strings that flows so gently akin to a harp, which makes their music so characteristically unique in our modern society.
"Roekmana's Repertoire" is a result of Tigapagi's seriousness and maturity in their artistic work. This can be seen from the changes they made to the old songs on this album. Their maturity is evident in the concept of adding a string section that cuts through almost all the songs, adding a grayish nuance, as if it is perfectly matched with the tone and delivery of the lyrics. In the lyrics department itself, it's not unfamiliar, from the era before the song "Menari" aired, Sigit, as Tigapagi's poet, tends to write lyrics with dark nuances in the form of metaphors, making them still beautiful to listen to. This is also a plus point that further strengthens their character.
The seemingly unending album tells the torturous events of G30SPKI or Gestapu (Gerakan September Tiga-Puluh) through the eyes of Roekmana. This gruesome historical movement took place on the 30th of September 1965, ending in October 1st 1965 following our second president's election.
A brief note about the choice of the name "Roekmana" reveals that it wasn't chosen randomly. According to their press release (written in the old spelling by Cholil Mahmud and A. Puri Handayani), Roekmana served as inspiration for Sigit Agung Pramudita (Vocal, acoustic guitar, bass, keyboard, theremin, backing vocals), as well as the two brothers, Eko Sakti Oktavianto (Acoustic guitar, piano, kecapi) and Prima Dian Febrianto (Acoustic guitar), in creating Tigapagi's music. Roekmana was a skilled guitar teacher known for playing Sundanese classical music. The album was titled after him and he became the central figure because of his significant influence on their music.
Unfortunately, (whether it's my lack of careful listening) the sound of our traditional flute (suling bambu) that was once inserted into some songs is now gone, replaced by the sound of a modern flute. Although it could have added to the strength of their musical character, I respect their decision on the change. I liken "Roekmana's Repertoire" to an oasis in the desert, successfully quenching the thirst and refreshing their long-awaiting fans who have been waiting for a full album from Tigapagi. And if this album was indeed made in the atmosphere of September 1965, then they have succeeded, both in terms of packaging and music.
Since this post is already long enough, I will share my analysis on each of "Roekmana's Repetoire"'s tracks and their single "Tidur Bersama" in separate posts starting next monday.

꒰ Band of Brother Characters Taste in Music ꒱
Dick Winters— Jazz music is his jam... I could see him enjoying Laufey or Nat King Cole
Lewis Nixon— Either has a similar taste to Winters or he's listening to alternative. Might listen to Lana Del Rey.
Ronald Speirs— Folk Rock... Think of Sedona by Houndmouth or maybe Not Dead Yet by Lord Huron.
Harry Welsh— Probably loves music from the 70s... You could catch him singing to Fleetwood mac or Carly Simon.
Carwood Lipton— he listens to all kinds of music... Old, new, um classical. if he likes it, he will listen to it.
Edward Shames— Klezmer or nigun; He's a mensch.
John Martin—Whatever the radio plays, he isn't picky. He just doesn't enjoy hard rock or certain country music(that's about beer & girls).
Floyd Talbert— It's giving Mac Demarco, TV Girl, Backseat Lovers, maybe Gorillaz.. I don't know if he's a red flag or not.
Bill Guarnere— Alternative Rock; I'm leaning towards Punk by Gorillaz. Though, if he were to have a guilty pleasure song it'd be Mamma Mia by Abba.
Joe Toye— I'm thinking Metal or heavier rock in general though he definitely has guilty pleasure songs. His favourite metal song is Dragula by Rob Zombie. The guilty pleasure song is definitely Brutal by Olivia Rodrigo. He also listens to Lana del Rey, Marina, and Paramore.
Don Malarkey— His favourite band is the strokes, trust me. He also enjoys The Libertines and Franz Ferdinand. Just trust me on this, okay?
Lynn Compton— Wasn't he kind of athletic? If so he definitely has a workout playlist that's full of either really hyper-feminine music or 90s rock.
Ralph Spina— He loves music from the 60s-70s... Southern Nights by Glen Campbell is one of his favourite songs.
Eugene Roe— @chaosklutz helped with this one; Jazz. I could imagine him listening to Let's call the whole thing off by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.
Babe Heffron—Indie pop or Indie rock... Hes an avid listener of lovejoy. He also listens to Hozier from time to time.
Shifty Powers— Folk... He's from Virginia but if I remember correctly it's a rural area. He definitely likes John Denver and The Oh Hellos.
Joseph Liebgott— Klezmer the folk music of Ashki Jews!! Example; Dona Dona by Nikitov. On the other hand, I could see him listening to alternative/indie like Blur or haim.
George Luz— Classic Rock or Indie Pop— Think talking heads or wallows. However, he definitely loves some cher songs and donna summers.
Bull Randleman— It's giving rock but not heavy... He's not like Toye or Guarnere. I'm thinking of Cheaptrick or maybe Aerosmith.
Skinny Sisk—Probably listens to a playlist that's a mixture of pop, rock, and rap. It's giving red flag.
Frank Perconte— He definitely listens to the fratellis and the maccabees... I mean they have a song called Toothpaste Kisses...
Warren Muck— he listens to anything but he tends to favour the 80s. He loves Come On Eileen but also 500 miles? He'd play that whilst in the car with Penkala and Malarkey.
Alex Penkala— Don't ask me why but I think he'd listen to new wave. Think Duran Duran, Blondie, or B-52s. He might listen to the ramones from time to time.
David Webster— Whilst studying Webster has definitely chosen classical as his go to. He's a big fan of Saint-Saens and Tchaikovsky. However, when listening to music on the radio he prefers something a bit more quiet... His taste clashes with Toye and Guarnere. Though, I could see him trying to act as if listening to the smiths is really underrated. As if they're some underground band.
Edward Tipper— I think he likes 60s pink Floyd... Like See Emily Play Pink Floyd. He might also enjoy The Beatles or The Stone Roses. Like Rock that borders being pop.

Can you help me explain what rads thought was gospel? And that algorithm thing what was that? Thank you!!
oof I'm not going to really do this justice, but the whole party line of this huge segment of fandom (which bleeds heavily into discourse in larrie circles without people really realizing it- people will accept certain things as fact and then use them to base arguments off of without realizing that those ideas are just things said without basis by people who also believe, for example, that Harry is actively working to sabotage Louis' career because he hates him) is that Louis is constantly fighting his label and team because they force him to do things (like for example the reason he talks about stunt stuff is because otherwise 'THEY' won't 'LET' him tour rather than, the choices and trade offs a closeted person makes to make it in the industry are complex and sometimes shitty) and that his label and team don't do the things they should to support him and that powerful people in the industry are actively working to sabotage his career to the extent of paying radio stations NOT to play his songs because he crossed people while in 1D. And so they are very protective of him, which is nice right like aren't we all, but specifically with an inflated sense of self importance-- we have to do promo for Louis because NO ONE ELSE WILL, his label doesn't do anything the only reason any of his releases have any success at all is fan projects (yes people seriously believe this)-- and with feeling sorry for him like POOR LOUIS HE IS SO OPRESSED BY THE POWERS THAT BE (and by Harry, lol) OUR POOR HELPLESS VICTIM BABY. Louis himself, in contrast, has spent the last few years repeating that he would rather people did not feel sorry for him in a way its hard not to feel is pointed, and telling us that he has chosen to do something other than chase number ones in a way that also feels pointed (especially that he would keep repeating that while occasionally also admitting that well... it would be all right if it happened! and making some efforts to see if he can make it happen without compromising what he wants to do), and we have seen firsthand all the things his label and team are doing (including A LOT of promo) and how well it is all working. But you still get folks who will say that he's lying, he's being made to say that stuff, that his team are lying- I literally saw a post saying that the head of BMG Italy was lying about the capacity of the Milan show, that it wasn't really 17k or whatever it was, to make it look like Louis was doing well when really his tour was flopping because BMG didn't want to do their job, or, something. IDEK. So when someone says 'wow look the algorithm put Louis on a spotify indie playlist!', maybe they just don't understand how spotify/promo/capitalism work and think that's how you get a new single on spotify playlists (it's not; your label/ team pay them) but just as likely they are coming from a place of, we know his team doesn't do promo (because some people on tumblr said so) so this must be how it got there!
In today’s article we learn tons about exactly what is being done behind the scenes, and we get Louis saying how he chose the people he works with and is happy with that choice and that it bothers him to be pitied. But I can tell you with certainty that at least one person will unfollow me for this, 3 others I don’t know about will block me, and nothing will change any more than it has at any other point over the last 3 years when he told us the same stuff :/  it’s always simpler to have a villain to be mad at when things happen that aren't what you want (Louis coming out, Louis being the biggest pop star in the world, whatever) after all

Rose Alaimo of New York has made her third full-length album, A Place to Go When You Need to Hide,” available to new and old fans. When you listen to the album, you will see why it has been chosen as the Album of the Week. With any luck, it will strike the same chord with all of you. The indie pop musician has also released the video for “Stars,” which is as lovely as the song itself. My…
