My hcs for torch!! I do not know why im so attached to him but!!! I am!!
✿︎ ginger. I don't care about the 1 pic we have of him, he's a ginger.
✿︎ mmm he's southern in my mind, grew up a proper cowboy.
✿︎ he's an absolute angel usually. At first glance everyone else on the team is all big and scary and he's an honest to god puppy.
✿︎ the roles do absolutely reverse though. Torch can be terrifying and the others can be sweethearts.
✿︎ he's the demolitions expert
✿︎ he’s got freckles all over, they are gorg
✿︎ he's such an asshole but in a lovingly teasing way
✿︎ he's tall. Tallest on the team (beat rorke by like 1 inch.)
✿︎ he would love logan. No idea why but they would be besties.
✿︎ he's such a sweetheart. Chill, friendly, etc. but he will absolutely tear someone to shreds for ppl he likes.
✿︎ brutal in the field, like horrifically so
✿︎ chronic stomach issues warrior

riddian “grim” poe and chris “torch” greene hc's bc why not
torch was navy. grim was a marine
torch got his call sign when he was a young LT and crashed too hard on a landing, his landing gear burst into flames (he's a pilot)
grim was just a ghostly lookin mf. that and his recruit class thought it was fitting since his name was straight outta gothic literature. (like bruh. RIDDIAN. POE??) but what got him GRIM was the scythe tattoo on his pec
torch was the same age as merrick. grim was younger but still older than ajax
their personalities were the complete opposite of their callsigns; torch was quiet and reserved, extremely off-putting while grim was more social and didn't shut up
grim gave the vibes of that one uncle who pays you 20bucks to say the f word in front of your dad
it was common amongst the ghosts that grim and kick would be leading the daily "bullshit" rants
grim was MARSOC before viper. torch was a SEAL pilot
grim got along best with ajax and keegan bc the marines STICK TOGETHER. OORAH. but he always made it his mission to annoy the absolute FUCK out of the neptune and torch (who were the brooding pilots)
torch and merrick actually got along the best. being SEALs n all
grim was corpsmen certified while torch ACTUALLY WAS a corpsman
torch had so many qualifications under his belt the rest of the ghosts wondered how tf he did it
torch was actually their exfil and chopper guy. his plane was shot down when he tried to reach ajax (the mission that got ajax captured)
grim was doing recon in fed territory but rorke had already had a hit on him so.. yeah. (lets just say grim got the worst treatment)
(yk when ajax got fucked up for flipping off the fed soldiers? well that was also grim but 10x worse)
torch was an east coast fuck. grim was from the PNW.

Another entry in Round 2 of our polling endeavor to discover the greatest Marvel casting choice of all time.
There is still a day left on the agents of shield poll but it seems set in stone that Chloe Bennett will win. If someone comes in and snags a win I’ll add them to the next round!
The first 2 polls for round 2 are still accepting votes and I very much implore you to partake (I’ve been informed by a statistician that the more votes we get means it is considered more accurate).

Am I the only person who thinks Amber Heard would make a fantastic Wonder Woman too?
She's got that "classical beauty" look (she was determined to have one of the world's most beautiful faces according to the "golden ratio" used by the Ancient Greeks, though obviously this is a culturally subjective standard of beauty).
A short-hand descriptor of Diana's character might be "compassionate warrior". Amber Heard is noted both for her fierceness, and for her activism. Many who have met her or worked with her noted how kind she was.
She worked as a representative of the UN for a time. Wonder Woman, of course, is a diplomat and ambassador.
She has experience in action roles and with DC specifically.
She and Diana are both queer women.
One of Wonder Woman's powers is exposing liars (the lasso of truth).
I honestly feel like Amber would barely have to even act- she could just walk into the studio and be her best self. And yeah, she's already played a DC character- but if Chris Evans can be both the Human Torch and Captain America, and Ryan Reynolds can be both Green Lantern and Deadpool, then why not?
She also looks great as a brunette:
Of course DC/WB treated her awfully, and would likely not cast her in the future. But that's simply studio fuckery, not an actual reason why she'd be unsuited to the role.
My only real objection is that I'd kind of like to see Diana played by someone of Ossetian heritage (per Wikipedia, the ethnic group most closely-related to the ancient Sarmatians, who's female warriors likely inspired tales of Amazons). But then, the DC Amazons have only the most tangential connections to actual history to begin with, and are also portrayed as a multi-ethnic society.

My Main Ships (in the AU)
Figure I’ll list the ships in my AU. Some of them are what the tender youth would call ““problematic.”” I see them as ‘compelling’, ‘having actual stakes,’ and having challenging conflicts beyond ‘will they love meee in this coffeeshop?’. Many of these people canon and OC have been with this AU since its inception and serve up the many themes found in it. Yes, some of them overlap as I'm team let people grow and have experiences/multiship. Nemesis/Jill The bread and butter of this AU. Full of complication as to why each proceeded with *dramatic handwave* this. A lot of unhealthy coping with their mutual and separate traumas (other than you know that whole trying to kill each other biz). Also, fun toying with that human/monster divide and how intimacy is wildly different between the other in monstrous ways. Is by far the most complicated ship. Gets very unsettlingly trippy with that 'mental connection' they have these days. Nemesis/Zeus(OC) I was apparently doing monstery brocon/twincest before it had a name (also lol myth shout out)? In seriousness, this is one of the most toxic ships in the AU because the two essentially are what happens when abuse travels down the line leading to unhealthy copes. It just happens to be between two highly dangerous monsters who both lack the concept of what family much less consent is (or even orientation; neither gets what that is, gender is 'what humans need us to be') while raised in horrible captivity, with one very out of his damn mind. Also noting that this AU doesn't deal in 'perfect' victims. Chris/Sheva A tragic pair that came to be out of Chris cheating on Jill out of loneliness and the distance Jill’s trauma caused. Things resolved where these two became an item (with Jill’s blessing even) but the vibe of Chris settling won't leave Sheva along with the torch for Jill Chris denies is there. He loves Sheva, he truly does, but that feeling for Jill is there, and Sheva, despite it all, hurts from that fact (never mind the guilt of at one time being the other woman). Ada/Carlos The spicy bi panic of two free spirits who know who they are and what they are about. Meeting up by ‘chance’ or rather by ‘plan’ as what are the odds of a spy and a guy for hire meeting up at the same places? They clearly run in similar circles but the attraction and fun of having a good time is there. Funny enough, one of my most healthiest of ships.
Shana(OC)/Jessica(OC) My too wholesome to live lesbian ship. One is a BSAA ‘green’ who after years of taking jobs under the table fighting BOW, can work on the up and up to fund her wife’s MS treatments. Aside from some of Shana’s work history (and the depths she’d go to save her wife), these two are just deeply in love with each other. Bonus round: Not as featured but part of the AU *lore* Brad/Gwen(OC) The secret between them – Brad hooking up with a too young Gwen and ending up with a love child – was what resulted in Brad living in fear of doing more wrong to her and his son, Tomas. Secretly paid money and cared for them at her request as Gwen didn’t want all their lives destroyed. Was it right? No, but this dynamic worked until someone found out using it to blackmail him into leaving Alpha Team behind at Spencer Mansion for hours. Trent(OC)/Gwen(OC) Trent and Gwen found themselves teen parents with the arrival of Tomas (he didn’t know Tomas wasn’t his). Trent was defeated by the prospect of his plans in the military being derailed and turned to drinking. He loved Gwen and Tomas but was prone to flirting when not sober. Gwen, hardworking and from the ‘wrong side the tracks’ sees herself as pragmatic and tried to manage the situation she found herself in with all the foibles of a teen that grew up too fast. Working jobs with a fake ID, she fought for her little family and cared for Trent and Gwen but held resentment to him not being reliable hence her staying out late and drunkenly hooking up with Brad. Tomas was her whole world and would crawl through hell for her son. Trent and Gwen are a hot mess that had Raccoon not happened would have probably either got their shit together or broken up. Ghandon(OC)/Tracey(OC) The put upon Nurse that actually cared for her ‘sons’ the NE-Ts: she read to them, talked to them like ‘people’, was a true ‘parent’ to them, watched as they gained more and more of a personality as the parasites learned. She had to ‘compete’ with Simon Ghandon’s attentions towards them who were not even remotely wholesome, to the point she played into the man’s delusions to gain the boys some respite. It, unfortunately, only worked for so long. Ghandon(OC)/His ‘boys’(OCs + Nemesis) Man with a God Complex + closeted + given complete control over 4 powerful BOW units. What could possibly go wrong? This is the main reason Nemesis has rage issues, control issues, lacks boundaries/has no idea of consent (other than not being human, so it’d been hard to grasp such a human-based concept anyway), and despises humans. Is one of the reasons (next to Nemesis) Zeus has really borked ideas on ‘love.’ This ship bracket is not just toxic, but hellish. Wesker/Jill Started as a side fling (not sexual but sexualized) feeding into Jill’s secret masochist tendencies (because no one was out about such things in the era of DADT and Anita Hill) that turns into a plot to manipulate her actions like with Brad and Barry. He intentionally knew the fallout would cause tension between her and Chris; then 5 happened. Oh boy did RE5 happen. Let’s just say he fucked her up mentally, emotionally and physically and continues to after his ‘death.’ Wesker is to Jill as Ghandon is to Nemesis. Wesker/Excella The Regional Director high on her own supply (and coke and wine) and the manipulative bioterrorist who plays along to get what he wants- what could possibly go wrong? Game playing was afoot, especially with her known jealousy toward the puppet, err Jill.

Hocus pocus, bring into focus Alistair Chronnus issue three!! Are you excited to meet The Lord of Light and see what true magic looks like? Then you're in the right place! Here's Warlock Warriors Wounded!
Page One:
Panel one, top half of page:
All the warlocks sit around a table in the middle of the common room. Gerard sits at the head of the table. On his left is Barry, Lisa and Chris. On his right is Persephone, Eli and Alistair. Barry is reading, Persephone and Eli are talking, Lisa and Chris are playing with Greg on the table, and Alistair is sitting nervously.
Gerard: "Ok everyone! Listen up!"
Panel two, bottom half of page:
Barry puts his book down and roles his eyes. All the colour leaves Persephone's face. Eli wrinkles his nose in disgust. Lisa looks shocked, all her hair suddenly standing on end, lightning arcing through it. Chris recoils away from Gerard. Alistair and Greg look confused.
Gerard: "Tonight's the last day before classes. Meaning it's the day of the big feast. Meaning we have to eat in the main hall tonight."
Page Two:
Panel one, top left sixth of page:
Alistair decides to vocalize his confusion.
Alistair: "What's wrong with the great hall?"
Panel two, top right sixth of page:
Barry looks at Alistair with a very stern, serious expression on his face.
Barry: "The great hall isn't the problem..."
Panel three, middle left sixth of page:
Lisa nervously fixes her hair.
Lisa: "It's the people."
Panel four, middle right sixth of page:
Chris sinks into himself, looking up nervously.
Chris: "The sorcerers don't really like us much."
Panel five, bottom left sixth of page:
Eli shakes his head, disapprovingly.
Eli: "The witches are particularly nasty to Persephone."
Panel six, bottom right sixth of page:
Persephone looks away, nervously, holding her witch hat in her hands.
Page Three:
Panel one, top third of page:
Gerard jumps up, slamming both hands on the table. Everyone turns to look at him.
Gerard: "They're not going to push us around this year. I won't let them. Barry? Eli? I might need a little help."
Panel two, middle left sixth of page:
Barry gives a solemn nod.
Panel three, middle right sixth of page:
Eli dramatically throws his hand into the center of the table.
Eli: "And you have my axe..."
Panel four, bottom third of page:
Gerard sits back down, giving the rest of the table a reassuring smile that seems to ease them all slightly.
Gerard: "Don't worry! No one can get through the three of us!"
Page Four:
Panel one, full page:
Alistair walks into the main hall, Greg in his jacket pocket, both staring with awe. Stone pillars reach into the ceiling, suspended at least a hundred meters above them. Flickering torches bathe everything in a warm, orange light. Ahead of them are three giant wood tables with elegant chairs and dozens of people at each table.
Page Five:
Panel one, top third of page:
Gerard points at a small wooden table in a dark corner of the hall, just barely big enough to sit the seven of them. They have shaky wooden stools to sit on.
Gerard: "Here's our table."
Panel two, middle third of page:
Eli smirks at Alistair.
Eli: "Glamorous, isn't it?"
Panel three, bottom third of page:
A man in flowing green robes approaches the table, Smiling a snarky grin. He has dark brown hair, the colour of an oak tree's bark, reaching down to his shoulders. Persephone hides behind Eli.
Man: "Well, well, well. If it isn't the little witchy wannabe."
Eli: "@#$& off Ren."

why into the spiderverse flows so well
originally this is just a generic post about me listing why i think ITSV is better than ATSV in many departments despite many ppl claiming otherwise. one of the aspects i want to touch on is how well scenes flow into one another in ITSV so i went about analyzing how each scene does so. there are lots of scenes, so this became a post of its own.
It’s genuinely impressive how every scene, and I mean EVERY scene except one, flows into the next one smoothly
(I divided these scenes pretty arbitrarily, some of them are bigger sequences combining multiple scenes. so take the scene numbering and naming with a grain of salt.)
0. the bonkers spiderverse intro. the continuous build up of tension thru multiverse visuals and tense music is channeled into chris pine’s narration “all right let’s do this one last time”.
1. chris pine’s spiderman origin story. it ends with peter parker saying “there’s only one spiderman, and you are looking at him”. we immediately cut to miles morales drawing, showing that peter parker is about to be proven wrong.
2. miles going to school part one. this sequence actually contains 3 sub-sequences (miles getting ready at home, miles greeting his old school mates, miles slapping stickers everywhere). it ends with miles tripping and forced to ride his dad jefferson’s car.
3. miles going to school part two -- aka the dad talk. the sub-sequences include jefferson trying to bond with miles and the argument about the new school. it ends with miles forced to say ‘i love you dad’ in front of everyone and getting laughed at when he entered the school.
4. the school day scene. building off the tension of not fitting in and getting laughed at, miles is overwhelmed by school work. it ends with miles being late to his physics class.
5. the physics class scene. it goes beyond miles meeting gwen in class. he’s assigned an essay by his physics teacher. it ends with him stressing over the essay and heading out to see uncle aaron.
6. at uncle aaron’s place scene. sub-sequences include miles getting there, and miles and aaron talking about his day at school. it ends with aaron taking miles to a place to ‘throw up’ his art to help him relax.
7. underground graffiti scene. sub-sequences include getting to the graffiti place and miles painting. it ends with miles getting bitten by spider 42. he starts noticing changes in his body the next day.
8. the spiderman ‘puberty’ scene. it contains 2 sub-sequences (miles noticing changes and running into gwen, miles escaping from security), and both parts are comedy gold. it ends with miles accidentally reading ganke’s spiderman comics and questioning if there could be 2 spidermen. he needs answers so he goes looking for them in the place where he’s bitten.
9. finding spider 42 scene. self-explanatory. it ends with miles spider sense tingling and guiding him towards where chris pine’s spiderman and green goblin are fighting.
10. spiderman vs green goblin scene. it ends with miles falling in the collider facility and spiderman saving him.
11. a meet between two spidermen scene. it ends with spiderman swinging into action once again to stop the collider and prowler stopping him.
12. spiderman vs prowler scene. it ends with kingpin activating collider.
13. the collider explosion. it ends with spiderman seriously injured.
14. the death of spiderman scene. 2 sub-sequences (spiderman passing the torch to miles and kingpin killing spiderman). it ends with prowler going after miles.
15. escape from prowler scene. it ends with miles running home.
16. the morales family scene. it ends with spiderman’s death being broadcast.
17. remembering spiderman scene. it lasts for the entire of ‘scared of the dark’ song. it ends with miles thinking the city is counting on him as the new spiderman so he goes to train his power.
18. the training scene. it ends with miles falling and breaking the goober. miles feels he’s failed chris pine’s spiderman and he goes to his grave.
19. the graveyard scene. it ends with miles venom striking peter b parker.
20. peter b parker’s origin story. a little interlude.
21. ‘catch the s train’ chase. my favorite fucking sequence of the movie hands down. everything i want from an action scene. it ends with miles escaping the pdny with an unconscious peter.
22. a meet between two spidermen reprised. it ends with peter agreeing to show miles the ropes, but first...
23. the burger scene. it ends with the two heading out to alchemax.
24. the alchemax heist. it ends with spider-gwen saving the day (not to mention her origin story) and kingpin fuming and having a ...
25. penclick flashback. it ends with him questioning doc ock.
26. doc ock and kingpin argues. we cut to see our hero trio heading back on hudson valley explorer.
27. gwen and miles bonding on the explorer. it ends with them at aunt may’s place
(the transition from 27 to 28 is definitely the weakest one imo since there wasn’t any buildup to it)
28. peter and aunt may reunite. it ends with them entering chris pine’s spiderman’s spidercave.
29. the trio admires the spidercave. it ends with them meeting peni parker, spider-ham and spider-noir.
30. the secondary trio’s origin stories. it ends with the spider people arguing who’s gonna shut down the collider and ...
31. miles trying to prove he has what it takes to turn off the collider. it ends with him feeling powerless and left.
32. miles walking to uncle aaron’s place and his parents worrying about him. it ends with miles leaving a note to aaron.
33. hiding from prowler. and dropping the big reveal.
34. running away from prowler. it ends with miles running back to aunt may’s place to meet up with others. but he was followed.
35. spider folk vs sinister five(?). it ends with uncle aaron’s death.
36. everyone comforts miles. it ends with ganke entering and passing out.
37. peter telling miles he’s not ready. it ends with miles feeling down and jefferson shows up to talk
38. the dad talk reprised. it ends with miles having renewed faith in himself
39. the leap of faith. second best sequence, single best frame of the movie with miles rising into the cityscape.
40. spider folk infiltrating kingpin’s facility. it ends with them getting ambushed and miles turning the tide.
41. spider folk defeat the villains. it ends with them gaining control of the collider.
42. the spider folk bid farewell. it ends with peter taking a leap of faith and miles going toe to toe with kingpin.
43. miles vs kingpin. it ends with miles winning and collider exploding.
44. miles talk to his dad. it ends with miles being acknowledged as spiderman by the people.
45. miles spiderman sequence.
there you have it. almost every ITSV scene has a logical connection with what comes before and after. this is why the movie flows so well and its pacing is so good.

chris “torch” greene hcs BECAUSE WHY TF NOT
• preferred to be a co pilot for neptune. as he got older he started to realize being head wasnt what he wanted
• was often the one stitching any of the ghosts up since he had a very gentle hand
• always made it seem like grim was the BANE of his existence but he secretly adored the man
• called all of the ghosts “brother” even the youngest ones like keegan and ajax
• except grim. torch called grim “poe” or “ian” bc he liked to shorten names but ridi was just weird to him
• when any of the ghosts got a reprimand from rorke (pre pit) they would go to torch to just watch him work on the planes and/or practice medicine
•the mechanic of the team also
•nobody knows when or how he learned so much and got official certificates/qualification to practice his skills
•a running bet between the marines and kick that he was immortal so he had so much time to learn all of skills
•when the ghosts recovered his body, and buried it in ghosts matter, kick placed a hundred dollar bill in the trigger hole of his rifle and said to the ghost “you won. you weren’t immortal after all”
• the second ghost to die. grim being first, then torch, then ajax
• ajax and kick had a running bet that torch and grim were fucking when they saw grim in a navy hoodie that DEFINITELY wasnt merrick’s (since he was the only other SEAL on the team)
• keegan was his favorite bc he knew. to shut. the. fuck. up.
• with riddian and kick and then ajax, put them all together, they never did stfu (he enjoyed the noise and shit talking)
• for ghosts business he never had an official mask like the others, his flight helmet with the tinted visor did enough to conceal his identity. but he did have the under jaw of a skull painted on his helmet
•off duty he was always in a hoodie. and since STALKER didnt have official gear, he was always in his old navy hoodies
• had hardcore ankle and shoulder problems (after long missions he would limp around base bc his ankles would lock up)
• didnt speak to anybody for 2 weeks after recovering riddian’s body, for it was mutilated from torture and it burned his soul
• he wouldve LOVED riley bc he was a dog man

Your NYC Summer Beer Event Guide

Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start of summer and the slightly-more official start of beer drinking season, and if there’s one thing New York City knows, it’s hot fun in the summer sun. So, here’s a lineup of a few beer events coming up in the five boroughs as the weather heats up, if you crave some summer crushers or some beach brews.
Threes Summer of Pils (June 2nd-9th)
Kicking things off in early June is Threes Brewing’s first week-long celebration of all things Pilsner: Summer of Pils, June 2nd through 9th. The lineup includes a whole host of events highlighting the style, including two panel discussions with the nation’s leading lager-makers, a kickoff party on Governors Island, beer launches, pairings, and specials, and a closing can jam celebrating New York City-brewed beer. Check out the full list of events and plan accordingly.
NYC Brewers Guild Celebration of Pride (June 18th)
Mark Pride Month with a beery celebration put on by the NYC Brewers Guild at LIC’s Focal Point Beer Co. on Sunday, June 18th from noon to 6pm. The pay-as-you-go mini-fest will feature beers from a more than a dozen New York City brewers like Fifth Hammer, Finback, Torch & Crown, and Wild East — all beers brewed especially for Pride. Tickets start at $15 for entry and two pours, and there’s a $60 option that offers a pour from each brewery in attendance. All proceeds go to both the guild and the LGBTQIA+ community.
Other Half Green City (June 23rd & 24th)
As mentioned in a past edition of the newsletter, Other Half’s Green City will return this year as a scaled-back celebration of all things hoppy, hazy, and refreshing being hosted in their taproom in Gowanus, Brooklyn across two four-hour sessions on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, June 23rd and 24th. Breweries from down the road and across the country will pour their finest creations and food vendors will be available. Tickets start at $65 per session.
Kills Boro Pizza Party (July 29th)
The most Staten Island beer event possible returns for its third year on July 29th. Kills Boro Brewing’s Pizza Party — a beer festival featuring some of the region’s top brewers and the island’s top pizzas — will be held again this year at the Smug Harbor Cultural Center. The outdoor event is a four-hour, picnic-style celebration of beer and pizza in a lovely park setting. Early-bird tickets are available now for $55.
