That’s the testimony of personal experience. It’s not theory, it’s not theology, it’s not even just a creed. It’s the testimony of a man who was in a terribly difficult and dangerous situation. He turned to the LORD, he sought the LORD in prayer and his testimony is, “The LORD answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”

Are you oppressed with fear? I suppose the majority of people in our contemporary culture have some kind of fear that gnaws at them, that takes away their peace. Why not try David’s remedy? Why not seek the LORD, pray to Him, and ask Him to deliver you from all your fears?

Then David goes on to say, “Those who look to Him [the LORD] are radiant, their faces are never covered with shame.” There’s a deep principle there – that whether we look to the light or the dark we will reflect what we are looking at. If we look to the darkness we’ll be somber and dark, but if we look upwards to the LORD, who is the light, our faces will become radiant with the LORD’s light. And the Scripture says, “We’ll never be ashamed, we’ll never be disappointed. The LORD will never let us down.”

Why don’t you try that? Why don’t you call to the LORD, ask Him to deliver you and look to Him so that your face may be radiant?

God not only lifted the psalmist out of the pit and set his feet upon a rock, but He also put a new song in his mouth. Instead of sadness, the psalmist sang songs of praise. When the Lord puts a song in our mouths, we burst forth into singing, there’s such joy, joy unspeakable, praises to God overflows out of our being.

Yes, Jesus does that, even in the midst of trials! He reaches down and lifts us out of the pit in which we find ourselves, sets our feet upon the Rock. That Rock is Christ Jesus Himself. He steadies our walk, and puts joy in our hearts so that we can sing a song of praise. Glory to His name!

Jesus still loves you when you don't understand what He's doing, when you're tired of waiting, if you struggle with your mental health, if you haven't spent time with Him today, if you struggle to love yourself even if you have nothing left to give. He still loves you.

So it all boils down to what the centre of your life is. If money, the desire for money, the desire for gain is at the centre of your life, then you're going to be a miserable person. If Jesus is at the centre of your life, you're going to be rich, maybe not in the worldly sense, but rich in Him. Your life is going to be blessed, your life is going to be full.
