Nonbinary people have been part of the lesbian and gay communities since the beginning and before.
Some cis people might want to argue with you about your existence. But there are ignorant cis people in every group who believe silly things. Pay them no mind.
You know who you are better than anyone.

Did y'all know that Elon Musk's Twitter recently added LGBTQ terms (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Transgender, Queer) to it's "offensive words" list - meaning that links to tweets with words containing them aren't previewed in twitter DMs and are generally de-boosted (shown to less people) by the website? Did you also know there exists a character called the zero-width non joiner that you can copy and paste in-between letters of any keyword so that the keyword visually looks the same but isn't automatically seen by the algorithm as containing a keyword?

I hate correcting customers who call me ma'am and miss and honey over the phone, because only about 30 percent of the time do they apologize and start calling me sir, while 70 percent of the time they double down assuming I was trans and continue misgendering me on purpose to show how little respect they have for me as a human being. "Thank you, MISS."
I'm a cis man, for the record.
Whenever I correct someone and they keep it up, I simply refuse service. "Oh, I'm sorry, we're completeley booked up the day you wanted. Yeah, no, we're booked up on your backup dates too. Looks like our next opening isn't until, hmm, mid-November. Oh, but it doesn't have enough beds for your party. We could probably fit you in around New Years, but you'd have to change rooms every day. You might wanna try [more expensive motel] a few blocks north of us, they might have vacancies. Have a good day."
I've been able to dodge what few complaints we've gotten so far because they all tell my boss that they just spoke to a very nasty woman, and she has no idea who they're talking about. "You must have dialed the wrong number, because I'm the only woman here, and I didn't talk to you." That PISSES THEM OFF, and she doesn't understand why they respond with "well we've been staying there for years, but we're never coming back." They think she's protecting me, an afab trans man, and are disgusted by it, but from her perspective they're just crazy people who are complaining about made up bullshit; it doesn't even cross her mind that they're talking about me. Why would it?
My boss is like 70 or 75, and was a Republican until 2016. It's never come up in conversation, but something tells me she wouldn't exactly be a trans ally. I'm in a weird position here, and it's hilarious.

I tried to make it as unfunny as I could so transphobes can understand
EDIT: Oh yeah if you don't have the context (bless your heart), Musk decided that "cisgender" would be considered a slur on Twitter

In a recent staff post, tumblr staff said that only a quarter of tumblr is lgbtq, and I don’t think anyone’s really convinced of those numbers. Ik this post might not reach that many people but…
(Edit: oh my god guys ik the results are biased okay?? Unfortunately that’s just how polls work. Check my reblog tho gay, was literally the 2nd most trending tag last night. Even if you refuse to believe the statistical literacy of this poll you can still observe that tumblr is still largely very gay compared to the average social media. I talk more about this in a reblog but god. I get it. Polls have never been that good at gathering unbiased results)

Because Elon Musk has decided that "cisgender" is slur, and that comedy is legal on Twitter, I started posting cis jokes. Here they are in case it gets me banned.
Why did the cisgender cross the road?
A cis actually wouldn't make that big of a change at all.
A cisgender rubs the magic lamp and a genie appears.
Genie: "Thank you for freeing me, I will grant you three wishes!"
Cis: "I'm sorry, HOW MANY?! That's too confusing and upsetting"
A font walks into a bar. The cis bartender serves the font without question because despite his hatred and obsession over typeface ideology, he is not as good at telling when he's met one as he thinks.
A father and his son are in a car accident. The father dies at the scene and the son is rushed to the hospital. At the hospital the cis surgeon looks at the boy and says "I can't operate on this boy, it would be permanently altering him" How can this be?
How many cisgender people does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Two. Only two. Absolutely no more than two.
A cisgender walks into a bar and isn't given any trouble about using the restroom.
A limbo champ walks into a bar. He loses.
A cisgender observer then campaigns tirelessly to make sure that limboist won't change genders to compete in the women's limbo league.

personally? I think it's awesome that cis people want to explore their relationship to their gender. I think it's really cool that a cis person could question if they're trans, do some self reflecting, realize they are cis after all, and come out of it with a better understanding of their gender and sense of self. I think gnc and genderqueer cis people are stellar. I think xenogender and neopronoun using cis people are fantastic.
a better understanding of gender and what that means for an individual helps everyone out, and we should welcome cis people who have or want a good perspective on gender with open arms
