I hope and pray that S2 of Arcane won't pull any timeskip shenanigans on Viktor. When we won't get to see his gradual Machine Heraldification TM. Because I desperately need to see the whole process required for him to get there. I want to see him working on his augmentations, figuring them out, messing up a bit and eventually succeeding. I need to see the science behind it. Please

Okay but like Claire immediately rushing over to Rae after the mother water slime is defeated to see if she's alright? Like straight up ignoring Thane HER CRUSH and everyone else praising her, all to see if her little idiot is okay. I think I'm going to probably die of cuteness, like these two are going to give me a sugar-induced heart attack.

I’m sure many others have pointed this out before, and this is certainly not the first time I ramble about it, BUT:
Tumblr media
Notice how Clive’s parents look like Hershel and Claire.
Notice how they disappear to the right of the screen, which is symbolically associated with the future, while Layclaire exits stage left, remaining in the past.
Clive represents the child they could have had. Hence why he’s so smart he can rival our protagonist in a battle of wits. Hence why he’s saved by both Hershel and Claire at different points in his story. Hence why the mobile fortress is defeated by a simple pocket watch, the ultimate symbol of their love. Hence why he’s close to the Professor on the box, where Luke would typically be:

It’s him! Clive is their Lost Future.

What if Wills powers are actually dependant on James to be completely unlocked? He described it as a locked door within him since the first book, only for James to not only open gates repeatedly in the second but even trying to open it within Will with the same spell and the only reason it failed was, because he wasn't fully awaken yet?
All Sarcean wanted was to rule together. What if he entrusted Anharion with the key to his powers, because he doesn't want to fully awake until the love of his life is ready to take the place next to him from the start?

i have so much to say about the winchester (campbell??? i guess???) parental desire cycle (mary desires to be like her mother, becomes her father instead; dean desires to be like his father, becomes his mother instead; claire desires to be like dean, becomes more like cas; jack desires to be like cas, becomes more like dean) in my head but i will never ever be able to articulate it properly

I have been thinking again about the one image of The Machine herald from Bridging the Rift. And I'm going little bit isane over it. Over him. He is so TALL and BIG. Just loomig over himself. Taller than Jayce and I think even taller than Vander was. Aaaaaa I mean look at him. Look at the man. He is gigantic. He probably has to bend, when he wants to go through doors. Absolutely insane. My god. My brain can't. I'm so giddy. I want to see more of him. Why would they tease us like this and show so little. So cruel of them. Like go on, show us more, don't be shy.

I don't know what will I do when S2 comes out. I'm already going crazy, chewing at the walls, running in circles and all we have seen so far is ONE blurry image and close up of his hand and staff. I will go feral when we see MH in all his glory. Like run into the woods to be never seen again type of feral.

It's often hard for me to admit– but I do long to be taken care of. I'm so tired.
I'm so tired of having to be stronger than I feel I'm even capable of being. I'm so tired of having to be in survival mode all the time. I'm so tired of always pretending like I'm okay.
I want to relax. I want to feel safe. I want to let go.
I want to ease my exhausted body into the arms of someone who cares. Someone who wants me to feel not alone. Someone who can see the burdens I've carried and say, "I see you. I acknowledge your strength– your sacrifices. Let me take over for a while. Let me take care of you. You've been so brave. Your only job now is to rest."

The way she looks at Rae... And she claims not to have any feelings for her whatsoever. Are you sure Miss Claire? Are you sure? Denial isn't just a river in Egypt you know. In all seriousness, this episode, I like to think is where Claire officially catches feelings for Rae. Like, this episode right here, with Rae helping her spare Lene and her brother. And then this moment...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rae holding her, from behind, so Claire doesn't have to look Rae in the eyes while she cries. Rae, protecting Claire's dignity so nobody can see her cry after the events of the past two episodes. I think this is where Claire starts to realize yes maybe she does care for this idiot.

One thing I find clever about PL4 is how Emmy reads *Clark’s* letter aloud. We don’t get a voice-over of Clark reading the letter, like with Dr. Schrader, Future Luke, Janice or Angela. (Even if two of those letter-writers were not who they claimed to be!)
Clark isn’t the one who wrote the letter. It’s Luke.
Layton mentioned that Clark was never a fan of ‘typed-correspondence’, but it’s kind of implied that Layton hasn’t contacted Clark in years— long enough to not know where the Tritons were living.
But still, as Layton said, he would never ignore a friend in need. Even after they fell out of touch, he still came rushing to Misthallery to help Clark, knowing something was fishy about the letter.
He still hurried to Monte d’Or to help Angela, despite their troubled past.
He answered Janice’s plea for help— a former student who he cared about enough to risk his and Luke’s life.
Then there’s Dr. Schrader— Layton is absolutely SHOOK when his old mentor suggests that he will open the Elysian box. Layton is even more shook when he finds Scharder’s body on the floor.
Of course, Layton wants to help the letter-writer claiming to be Future Luke, as unlikely as that sounds. Maybe it’s not really Luke, but it’s still a person asking for Layton’s help, so Layton will answer.
And now I’m thinking about how Layton might have emotional constipation, but he still cares about his companions so much. He just doesn’t show it in obvious ways. Maybe that’s why he likes letters so much…
And didn’t CLAIRE give him a letter when she was going to confess her feelings to him?

So cool how characters in RE contrast each other capabilities-wise.
Chris is an expert marksman and vehicle handler (ex airforce) who mainly relies on grappling and punching for his melee attacks being the tank of a guy that he is.
Leon has crashed almost every vehicle he's driven, mains kicks, and is built more for agility and mobility than tanking hits. This is especially visible in his fight with Chris in RE6 and his fight with Arias in Vendetta. In RE6, Chris is always trying to close the distance to take control over his opponent, but the reason their fight ends in a draw is because Chris throws Leon, which gives Leon the space to react. Kicks also just naturally require more space or are meant to get distance from an opponent. (Not to say they can't ever be used in closer quarters, like popping a low roundhouse, for instance). And Leon's just schmoovin in Vendetta.
In contrast to both, Jill seems to prefer knives and melee over firearms and has an acrobatic/aerial agility flow as opposed to Leon's ground flow, and also mains kicks/distance melee in contrast to Chris' more extreme close quarters style. (this is prevalent in RE5 and Death Island especially). Canonically Jill has bested both Chris and Leon in melee combat. Her win against Chris was probably affected by the alterations made to her by Wesker and also Chris not wanting to hurt her, but nonetheless. Chris is capable enough that he should be able to restrain someone without seriously hurting them. I think this is solid ground to say Jill is the most skilled hand to hand combatant in RE.
Like Chris, she can seriously take a hit. Most RE characters can, given their line of work, but these two especially.
Ada's style is geared toward stealth and efficiency, which lends itself to her more graceful and poised movement style. A lot of her RE4R melees rely on momentum and really putting her whole body into an attack. I don't just mean her spin kicks and hookshot melees, she puts her whole torso into her sidekick to the point that she actually looks away from the opponent because of the torque.
I've not looked as closely at Wesker, but his fighting style is this interesting mix of theatrics and brutal efficiency, which is enhanced by his speed. It all depends on how much he is toying with his opponent. He moves very quickly and hits precisely, but makes a show of it sometimes. See Code Veronica.
Though not really a trained agent or military personnel, Claire's gun handling is second to none. Chris may have been the best marksman in STARS, but I honestly believe that if it's her against him in a shooting contest, she would win. See Code Veronica, Degeneration, Rev2, etc.
A note on pain tolerance, Death Island gives us an interesting insight into that.
I got the sense that the initial viral injection from the drone hurts immensely. Claire is immediately brought to her hands and knees by the pain. This makes sense, as she's not a trained agent of any kind.
Chris lasts a little longer than her, but is soon brought to his hands and knees as well. That's how you know it has to hurt bad, because Chris Redfield, whose whole thing is being a tough guy who can take a hit, is on the ground. However, despite the pain, he still has the presence of mind to try and comfort his sister, which is also a very Chris thing to do.
I was actually quite surprised by Leon's pain tolerance. He toughs it out way longer than Chris did before going to the ground. Even then, he's present enough to aim his gun and throw a flash grenade, demonstrating he can work through more pain that Chris can. Even so, he's still unable to block any kind of attack from Maria or recover correctly after being hit, which makes sense.
