one of my number one pieces of advice for transmascs starting t or who want to start t is WASH YOUR FACE. when you wake up and when you go to bed. get a decent acne-preventing facial cleanser and an oil-free moisturizer or whatever works for you and have a routine– preferably before going on t so you’re already used to it. my doctor was really surprised that I hadnt gotten much acne since starting t (almost 2 years now) and though it’s also partly genetics, I know for a Fact based on how quickly my face gets oily now that it’d be infinitely worse if not for getting used to washing my face more often/thoroughly. remember. yes this is like Puberty 2 BUT you have the fuckin heads up this time and can plan accordingly and that makes a BIG difference
#kibumblabs#transmasc#trans man#advice#hrt#idk why I felt the need to make this PSA but. yeah its important#I also recommend using some tretanoin overnight if need be#I never had a legit skincare routine until starting t and now it’s like. a requirement#I need it to Survive#for reference I use aveeno clear complexion foam face cleanser and Trader Joe’s brand oil-free facial moisturizer#the latter i lowkey stole from my roommate cause she got it as a gift and never used it and probably it forgot it existed#not some specialized brand or anything but it’s surprisingly really nice- and I’m real picky about what I put on my face cause it’s real#easy for moisturizers to make me feel real greasy (and without any moisturizer my skin dries out and gets patchy dry spots)#it’s very light and odorless but it does it’s job and a little goes a long way#this sounds like a sponsored ad now but look. I’m just saying#honestly it’s a fucking miracle I didn’t get terrible breakouts in middle school during Puberty 1 cause man I. I didn’t take my eyeliner off#when I went to bed alot of the time. and I don’t think I really washed my face at all#I have no idea how I lived like that it would drive me fucking insane as an adult#half cause of skin being more sensitive to that sorta thing now but half because I’m just way more of a neatfreak for lack of a better word#now and it’s so easy for me to feel uncomfortable when things aren’t clean and cleaned in a certain way#anyway I’m rambling

Note
do you have any tips on hormonal pimples? or like teen pimples (idk what they r called) because i have so much of them but none of these toners and serums are helping.
Make sure to wash your face twice daily with a gentle cleanser. Avoid scrubbing your skin too hard, this can make acne worse.
Look for products that are labeled as "non-comedogenic," which means they won't clog your pores. This is especially important for makeup and moisturizers.
Products containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid may be helpful in treating acne. Start with a lower strength and gradually increase if needed.
Prescription strength retinoids can be very effective in treating acne, but they can be irritating to the skin. Talk to your doctor and start with a lower strength and use as directed.
Here are some product recommendations:
Cleansers:
CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser
Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash
Moisturizers:
Cetaphil Oil Control Moisturizer SPF 30
La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat Mattifying Moisturizer
Salicylic Acid Products:
The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution
Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment
Benzoyl Peroxide Products:
Neutrogena Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Spot Gel
Acne.org 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide Treatment
Non-Comedogenic Sunscreen:
Neutrogena Clear Face Liquid Lotion Sunscreen SPF 30
EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46
Spot Treatments:
Mario Badescu Drying Lotion
Kate Somerville EradiKate Acne Treatment
The food you eat is super important for how your body's hormones work. Hormones are messengers that your body makes to control your growth, metabolism etc. They travel through your blood and tell different parts of your body what to do. Eating a good mix of healthy foods helps keep these hormones in check. Things like protein, good fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals help make and control hormones. For example protein is needed for hormones like insulin and growth hormone, while healthy fats help with hormones like estrogen and testosterone.
Also, when you're stressed a lot, your body makes more of a hormone called cortisol, which can mess up other hormones. Moving your body through exercise can help with hormones by reducing stress and making you feel happy. Also, sleep is really important. Not getting enough sleep can mess up hormones that control hunger and fullness.
So, eating healthy foods, managing stress, staying active, and getting enough sleep are all really important. They help keep your hormones in balance and make sure your body works well.
Most importantly, don't let acne affect your self-esteem. You are beautiful just the way you are! Pimples are very normal and they do not take away from how amazing you are <3

Fresh Start: A Teenage Girl’s Clean Hygiene Routine
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maintaining good hygiene is essential for teenage girls and young women to feel confident, healthy, and empowered. Here's a comprehensive clean hygiene routine tailored specifically for us:
1. Daily Shower or Bath:
- Use a mild, pH-balanced body wash or soap to cleanse the entire body, paying extra attention to areas prone to sweat and odor, such as underarms and feet.
- Gently exfoliate the skin 2-3 times a week to remove dead skin cells and prevent clogged pores.
- Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water to avoid stripping the skin of its natural oils.
2. Hair Care:
- Wash hair 2-3 times a week with a sulfate-free shampoo suitable for your hair type (dry, oily, curly, etc.).
- Use a conditioner after shampooing to moisturize and detangle hair, focusing on the ends.
- Limit the use of heat styling tools and protect hair from damage by using a heat protectant spray before styling.
- Trim split ends regularly to maintain healthy hair growth.
3. Facial Cleansing:
- Wash your face twice daily, morning and night, with a gentle facial cleanser suitable for your skin type (dry, oily, combination, sensitive, acne-prone, etc.).
- Use lukewarm water and avoid harsh scrubbing, which can irritate the skin.
- Apply a non-comedogenic moisturizer after cleansing to hydrate the skin and prevent dryness.
4. Dental Care:
- Brush teeth at least twice a day, morning and night, using fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush.
- Floss daily to remove plaque and food particles from between teeth and along the gum line.
- Rinse with an alcohol-free mouthwash for added freshness and to kill bacteria.
- Visit the dentist for regular check-ups and professional cleanings every six months.
5. Feminine Hygiene:
- Change sanitary pads or tampons every 4-6 hours during menstruation to maintain freshness and prevent odor.
- Wash the genital area with a mild, fragrance-free soap and water daily, paying attention to hygiene during menstruation.
- Use breathable cotton underwear and avoid tight-fitting clothing to promote air circulation and prevent moisture buildup.
6. Nail Care:
- Keep nails trimmed and filed to prevent breakage and maintain a neat appearance.
- Clean under the nails regularly to remove dirt and bacteria.
- Apply a moisturizing hand cream to keep hands soft and hydrated.
- Avoid biting or picking at nails and cuticles to prevent infection and damage.
7. Deodorant and Antiperspirant:
- Apply a deodorant or antiperspirant daily to underarms to control sweat and odor.
- Choose a product that suits your body's needs and preferences, whether it's a roll-on, stick, or spray.
8. Sun Protection:
- Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to exposed skin daily, even on cloudy days.
- Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours, especially if swimming or sweating heavily.

hello! you seem to know a lot about skincare stuff, so i'm curious what products you use for general daily use? i also have adult acne and it's very annoying. i would also appreciate any lip moisturizing ideas if you have any. thank you, and hope your day's going well!
oh yes! although fair warning that I am not a skincare expert at all (I don't even understand half the lingo that people use when they talk about products lol) so take any of my recommendations with a grain of salt...
other than sunscreen, literally all of the stuff I use is either from paula's choice, the ordinary, or good old cerave. I don't even bother trying other brands at this point because I assume they'll just be overpriced junk—plus, you can get almost all cerave products and a good chunk of the ordinary's products at, like, target. I'd also note that you don't need to (and really should not) go out and buy a million things at once; I have a pretty good arsenal at this point but it took me a couple years to build it up by trying one or two new products at a time and seeing what I like.
both paula's choice and the ordinary have "shop by concern" sections on their websites, so if you want actual targeted advice about what to try then I would definitely defer to them lol. but for some specific examples of what I like:
diehard fan of cerave face soaps. they have a foaming pump and a non-foaming pump, depending on whether your skin is more oily or more dry. I mostly use the latter, but since noelle uses the former I'll occasionally steal a pump of the foamy one if I'm having an oily streak lol.
likewise with cerave moisturizer, specifically for your body, but also works great on your face as a final skincare step. will not make you break out. however (important info incoming!!!) the pump lotion is far inferior to the giant tub of lotion—the pump stuff is just kind of watery and sad in comparison. get the tub. you deserve it.
the ordinary hyaluronic acid 2% serum is another "help I have dry skin but also acne" lifesaver. you can apply it directly to (damp!!!) skin or (wet!!!) hair or put a couple drops in your lotion for extra-moisturizing lotion. but it works by drawing outside moisture into your skin/hair, so make sure you're not applying it to dry skin/hair or it can backfire and actually dry you out.
paula's choice enriched calming toner = dry skin savior.
for acne specifically, paula's choice pore-reducing toner fucking rules. it's not harsh at all so you can use it as much as you want. pairs well with paula's 5% AHA exfoliant (which only use when I'm really flaky, since it is a little harsh, but you can temper it by applying lotion right after).
the ordinary azelaic acid 10% suspension is a little tingly, so I only use it when I'm actively breaking out (which tbf is often lol), but it's a great at starving out pimples.
from the paula's choice CLEAR line, I looooove the purifying clay mask. I use this one a couple times a week as needed, usually right after I get out of the shower, and then I'll wash it off and do the rest of my face potions as usual. even if my skin is pretty clear I just like how tight and clean everything feels after. I also recently tried the CLEAR 5% benzoyl peroxide daily skin clearing treatment (only because I got it as a free gift... otherwise I would Not have tried a benzoyl peroxide product lmao. bad memories of childhood acne treatment snake oil shit.) and was surprised how much I liked it, although I've been applying it verrry sparingly. the bottle recommends applying it (1) to your entire face and (2) EVERY DAY, but I've had luck using it as a sporadic spot treatment. pairs well with the enriched calming toner.
I've also been using this prescription tretinoin cream off and on for the past year (from the dubious skincare-as-a-service online pharmacy "forhers" lol) and it's Good but not a miracle. my skin is already pretty sensitive so I try not to use it that often, but it would probably work a lot better if it did. also makes you photosensitive as hell so watch out (sunscreen is a must).
specifically for lip moisturizer, nothing beats plain old burt's bees lip balm imo but if you need something heavy-duty I do like the paula's choice lip and body treatment balm. it's a little greasy but has great staying power and the tub lasts forever!
also important to note. you should always do stuff in this order: wash your face (duh) > toner > other stuff > lotion/moisturizer. I know you're supposed to do the "other stuff" in a specific order if you're stacking multiple products but tbh I just kind of wing it lol.

Transform Your Bath Time into a True Retreat from the World
Tumblr media
In the hustle and bustle of daily life, finding moments of peace and tranquility can be challenging. As homemakers, we’re often so focused on caring for our families and managing household tasks that we forget to nurture ourselves. One of the simplest yet most luxurious ways to carve out time for self-care is by transforming your bath time into a true retreat from the world. Here’s how you can turn this everyday routine into a serene and rejuvenating experience.
Set the Scene
Creating a peaceful environment is the first step in making your bath time special. Start by decluttering the bathroom; a clean and tidy space can instantly promote relaxation. Dim the lights or use candles to create a soft, calming glow. Beeswax candles are a great option, as they provide a warm light and a subtle, natural fragrance.
Choose the Right Bath Products
Elevate your bath with high-quality products that nourish your skin and soothe your senses. Consider adding a few drops of essential oils to your bathwater. Lavender oil is perfect for relaxation, eucalyptus oil helps clear the mind and breathing, and rose oil brings a touch of luxury. You can also use bath salts or bath bombs infused with these essential oils for an added spa-like experience.
Add Comforting Elements
Enhance your bath time with elements that provide comfort and coziness. A soft bath pillow can make soaking more comfortable, allowing you to fully relax. Keep a plush towel and a cozy robe within reach for when you step out of the tub.
Engage Your Senses
Turn on some nature sounds playlist to create a serene auditory backdrop. The gentle sounds of a babbling brook, ocean waves, or a soft instrumental piece can transport you far from daily stresses. If you prefer to read, place a waterproof book holder on the edge of the tub to enjoy your favorite novel or a collection of poems.
Indulge in a Warm Beverage
Prepare a warm beverage to sip while you soak. A cup of herbal tea, such as chamomile or peppermint, can enhance relaxation.
Practice Mindfulness
Use this time to practice mindfulness. Focus on the sensation of the warm water against your skin, the scent of the essential oils, and the sound of your calming playlist. Allow yourself to be fully present in the moment, letting go of any worries or to-do lists.
Hydrate and Moisturize
After your bath, take a few moments to hydrate and moisturize your skin. The warm water can dehydrate your skin, so apply a nourishing body lotion or oil to lock in moisture. This will leave your skin feeling soft and cared for.
Benefits of a Relaxing Bath
Transforming your bath time into a retreat isn’t just about luxury; it also has numerous health benefits. A warm bath can help relax muscles, improve circulation, and promote better sleep. The act of taking time for yourself can reduce stress levels, improve mood, and provide a much-needed break from the demands of daily life.
By turning your bath time into a true retreat, you’re not just taking care of your physical body but also nurturing your mental and emotional well-being. As homemakers, it’s essential to find moments to recharge and rejuvenate, allowing us to return to our responsibilities with renewed energy and positivity. So, the next time you run a bath, remember these tips and create a personal sanctuary where you can escape, even if just for a little while.
With love and relaxation,
Kimmi
Feel free to share your own bath time rituals and how they help you unwind in the comments below!

HOW TO HELP YOUR DOG DEAL WITH SEASONAL ALLERGIES
Tumblr media
For some people, seasonal allergies are a real pain. Whether you’re bothered by a runny nose, itchy eyes, or endless sneezing, it can be a tough time of year to endure.
Just like their human parents, some dogs suffer from the aggravating effects of seasonal allergies as well. Besides chemicals such as those found in household cleaning products, cigarette smoke and certain perfumes, dogs can also be allergic to natural, seasonal substances. This can include plant and tree pollens, mold spores, dust, feathers and fleas.
A dog’s allergy symptoms are generally similar to those experienced by humans: the immune system overreacts to one or more offending substances, leading to itchiness and irritation. Your dog may lick or scratch themselves, develop irritated eyes, or sneeze repeatedly. Some dogs experience itchy, swollen skin, while others suffer from diarrhea and vomiting. In certain cases, a secondary infection may develop.
Here are a few things you should do to help control any discomfort your dog may be dealing with due to seasonal allergies and reduce the risk of more serious problems.
Tumblr media
ADAPT YOUR DAILY WALK ROUTINE
If possible, avoid walking your dog in the early morning or late afternoon, when pollen levels are typically highest. Steer clear of fields and parks where offending plants are common.
When you return home, wipe your dog’s body and paws with a moist cloth or a hypoallergenic, fragrance-free grooming wipe from your local pet store. This will remove excess pollen and other allergens from your dog’s fur and skin without the hassle of a full bath. Pay special attention to the paws, as the sensitive skin here is often affected by allergens.
Some pet parents soak their dog’s paws in apple cider vinegar to remove pollen and other substances. If using this method, mix 2 parts water with 1 part apple cider vinegar.  Another solution is to put boots on your dog’s paws to prevent them from stepping in irritants and then tracking them into your house.
Tumblr media
CLEAR THE AIR… AND OTHER SURFACES
Inside your home, regularly change air filters to cut down on airborne allergens that enter through open doors and windows. Running an air conditioner or a dehumidifier will help remove moisture from interior air, making it harder for mold to grow in your home. Minimize the amount of time your dog spends in damp environments, such as basements, bathrooms, or laundry rooms, as these places are more susceptible to mold growth. Vacuum at least once a week, and remember to clean curtains and rugs that may have picked up dust and pollen.
Protect your dog from backyard dangers. Many popular veggies like onions, garlic, tomatoes, and chives are poisonous to dogs and should be fenced off to prevent your furry friend from getting into them.
Tumblr media
DON’T SLEEP ON IT
It's important to keep the surfaces your dog sleeps on clean, as they can quickly become covered in allergens. To achieve this, wash them in hot water every week. To make the task easier, consider putting towels or blankets on top of beds and chairs, and make sure to keep any offending substances away from the surface underneath. Also, don't forget to wash any soft toys your dog plays with regularly.
Tumblr media
JUMP IN THE BATH
To prevent dry and itchy skin in dogs, it is recommended to bathe them more often with the advice of a veterinarian. While washing their fur, use a gentle, hypoallergenic anti-itch shampoo that contains a soothing ingredient like oatmeal, aloe, or evening primrose oil. Some dog owners prefer to give their pets a 10-minute soak in a bath mixed with a gentle moisturizing oil.
Tumblr media
SUPPLEMENT YOUR DOG’S DIET
Consider giving your furry friend a natural dietary supplement like fish oil or a fatty acid such as omega-3 or omega-6 oil to alleviate itchiness and promote healthy skin. Coconut oil has also been shown to be effective in suppressing allergic reactions and improving skin health. To ensure your dog's overall well-being, it is essential to keep their drinking water and bowl clean and free of any contaminants.
Tumblr media
FURTHER TREATMENTS
If your dog is constantly licking, scratching, or chewing, and has red, irritated skin or hair loss, it's best to schedule an appointment with your veterinarian. Depending on the severity of the problem, a professional can provide more aggressive treatments such as antihistamines, steroids, or allergy shots, which are also known as immunotherapy.

skin care review of the products i've tried so far. skin type: brown skin, oily problem areas: enlarged pores, prone to hyperpigmentation
origins checks and balances frothy face wash: love it.❤️ i've been using mini sizes of this so far but i'm really tempted to buy a full size and not even bother trying out other face washes which shows how much i like it. clears up blemishes, washes away excess oil and lathers good. imo it's good value for the money because you literally only need a dime size amount. leaves your face with a clean feeling that's just a little "tight".
thayers toner: this is probably the holy grail toner for so many people and will probably become mine as well. i'm currently using the rose petal version and although it doesn't smell like roses (to me) it isn't super drying, is actually a little moisturizing and i have notice a reduction in my pore size. inexpensive and works good. 👍🏾
origins clear improvement active charcoal mask: i LOVE this mask. i wish i could use it every day but it's a detox mask so i only use it once or twice a week. when i do use it i notice that my skin is softer, pore size has gotten smaller and ALL excess oil has been removed. i just purchased the peter thomas roth charcoal mask so i'm interested to see how it compares to this one.
the ordinary niacinamide 10% + zinc 1% serum: i wanted to like this because so many people seem to rave about the ordinary's products but it did absolutely nothing for me. the serum is suppose to target and improve skin texture/dullness, reduce shine/oiliness, blemishes, etc. it did none of that for me. i will say that a little bit goes a long way, it absorbs okay into the skin and doesn't leave behind any kind of residue.
the ordinary caffeine solution 5% + egcg: 😡 i'm conflicted over this product. i'll start with the good: the serum is meant to depuff and reduce dark circles. i had "light" dark circles and the serum got rid of them. however once the dark circles were gone i suddenly started to notice FINE LINES underneath my eyes. wtf did these come from!? 😳😫🤬 after my panic attack, i immediately blamed the product because i hadn't noticed them before (maybe i was too busy noticing my dark circles lol) but now i'm thinking that the product gave me fine lines. yes i know that sounds crazy. i went back to the reviews and after reading, sure enough some of the other commenters did say that the product increased the appearance of their fine lines (or just flat out gave them fine lines) so i guess i wasn't entirely crazy. but here's the odd thing...alot of the reviewers that mentioned an increase in fine lines also mentioned how drying the product was but it was SO FUCKING OILY/GREASY [to me]. it's THICK and it didn't fully absorb into my skin, it kind of just sat there? i know that not everything that is oily is moisturizing and this was definitely one of those examples. if you use this please use an undereye moisturizer afterwards. i really wish the ordinary would put that on their box somewhere… although i'm brown skin i would advise anyone with really fair skin to test this product on their wrist before using it because it does have a yellow-ish tint to it. none of the reviews i read mentioned anything about it "staining" but i also didn't expect to get an "increase" in fine lines so.....😒 not really trying to slam this product, because clearly it works for a lot of people i just wasn't one of them.
origins ginzing oil-free energy boosting gel moisturizer: i wasn't expecting this to work for me but i purchased several origins kits and this moisturizer came in all of them so i figured i would use it. would i recommend this for oily skin? no. but i would recommend this for someone that has normal skin, maybe combo skin or anyone that's looking for a light moisturizer. it does leave a bit of a "glow" after you're done applying it which is why i don't recommend this for anyone with oily skin but i imagine that the glow would look good on probably everyone else lol. this does has a citrus smell to it. it dissipates after maybe 15 mins but if you're very sensitive to smells or just don't like the smell of citrus, i wouldn't recommend it.
in conclusion (or the tldr version): thayers toners are probably the goat for all skin types (especially if you want something that's alcohol free or have dry skin), origins mini products are great to try out if you're deciding whether or not to invest in their full sizes, the ordinary's products did me dirty.

Practical Tips for Applying Sunscreen Effectively on Dark Skin
While it is a common misconception that individuals with darker skin tones are not as susceptible to sun damage, the truth is that everyone, regardless of their skin color, needs proper sun protection. Dark skin contains more melanin, which offers some natural protection against the harmful effects of UV rays. However, this does not eliminate the need for sunscreen. In fact, applying sunscreen on dark skin is just as important to prevent sunburn, skin damage, premature aging, and even skin cancer. In this article, we will explore practical tips and techniques specifically tailored to effectively apply sunscreen on dark skin, ensuring optimal sun protection and maintaining skin health.
Tumblr media
1. Understanding the Unique Needs of Dark Skin for Sun Protection
1.1 The Science Behind Dark Skin and Sun Exposure
When it comes to sun protection, it's essential to understand the unique needs of dark skin. People with darker skin tones have higher amounts of melanin, which provides some natural sun protection. However, this doesn't mean they're immune to the harmful effects of the sun. Dark skin can still experience sunburn, sun damage, and an increased risk of skin cancer, although it may be less visible compared to lighter skin tones.
1.2 Common Misconceptions about Sun Protection for Dark Skin
There's a common misconception that dark skin doesn't need sunscreen. But let's clear this up: EVERYONE, regardless of skin color, needs sun protection. Another misconception is that dark skin is not prone to sunburn. While it may take longer to burn, prolonged sun exposure without protection can still lead to sunburn and other skin problems. So, let's put these misconceptions to rest and prioritize sun protection for dark skin!
2. Choosing the Right Sunscreen for Dark Skin
2.1 Understanding Sunscreen Ingredients and SPF
When choosing sunscreen for dark skin, it's important to look for broad-spectrum protection, which shields against both UVA and UVB rays. Opt for a sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30, but don't think that higher numbers mean better protection. SPF 30 blocks about 97% of UVB rays, while SPF 50 blocks around 98%. So, no need to break the bank for sky-high SPF numbers!
2.2 Sunscreen Formulations Suitable for Dark Skin
Finding the right sunscreen formulation can make a difference in the application and appearance on dark skin. Look for sunscreens that are lightweight, non-greasy, and don't leave a white cast. Mineral sunscreens with ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide can be a great option for dark skin. They offer effective sun protection and blend well without leaving a ghostly residue.
3. Preparing Your Skin Before Applying Sunscreen
3.1 Cleansing and Exfoliating the Skin
Before applying sunscreen, make sure your skin is clean and free from excess oils and dirt. Use a gentle cleanser to remove any impurities, and consider exfoliating regularly to promote even application. Exfoliation helps get rid of dead skin cells, allowing the sunscreen to penetrate the skin more effectively.
3.2 Moisturizing for Optimal Sunscreen Application
Moisturizing is a crucial step before applying sunscreen. It helps create a smooth canvas for the sunscreen and makes the application process easier. Look for a lightweight moisturizer that suits your skin type and absorbs quickly. Hydrated skin not only ensures better sunscreen adherence but also helps maintain overall skin health.
4. Applying Sunscreen on Dark Skin: Key Techniques and Tips
4.1 Proper Amount and Distribution of Sunscreen
Applying sunscreen is not a time to be stingy. A dollop won't do the trick! Use at least a teaspoon (about a quarter-sized amount) for your face and an ounce (roughly a shot glass full) for your body. Don't forget less visible areas like ears, back of the neck, hands, and feet. Be generous with your application, ensuring all exposed skin gets proper coverage.
4.2 Massage and Blending Techniques for Even Coverage
Applying sunscreen is not just about slapping it on; it's an art! Massage the sunscreen into your skin using gentle, circular motions. Pay extra attention to areas that are prone to sunburn or often neglected, such as the hairline, temples, and around the eyes. Take a few extra seconds to blend it in thoroughly for a seamless finish and even coverage. Remember, applying sunscreen should be a part of your daily routine, regardless of the weather or season. So, protect your beautiful dark skin and embrace the sun safely!
5. Sunscreen Application for Different Parts of the Body
5.1 Face and Neck
When applying sunscreen to your face and neck, it's important to be thorough but gentle. Start by cleansing and moisturizing your face, then apply a generous amount of sunscreen. Don't forget to cover your neck as well, as it's often exposed to the sun. Gently massage the sunscreen into your skin, making sure to blend it well, especially around the hairline and jawline. If you're using makeup, apply sunscreen first and give it a few minutes to absorb before proceeding with your makeup routine.
5.2 Arms and Legs
For your arms and legs, begin by applying sunscreen to your hands and rubbing them together. This will help distribute the product evenly. Then, apply sunscreen to the top and bottom of your arms and legs, paying attention to the elbows and knees. Use long, sweeping motions to ensure thorough coverage. If you're wearing sleeves or long pants, make sure to apply sunscreen to any exposed areas.
5.3 Hands and Feet
When it comes to your hands and feet, it's easy to overlook them, but they also need protection from the sun. Apply a liberal amount of sunscreen to the back of your hands, palms, and in between your fingers. Don't forget to extend the application to your wrists as well. For your feet, focus on the tops and soles, and don't forget the areas between your toes. If you're wearing sandals or open-toed shoes, make sure to apply sunscreen to your exposed feet.
6. Reapplying Sunscreen Throughout the Day
6.1 Frequency of Sunscreen Reapplication
To maintain adequate protection, it's crucial to reapply sunscreen every two hours, especially if you're spending extended periods outdoors or engaging in activities that cause sweating or swimming. Regardless of your skin tone, the sun's rays can still penetrate through and cause damage. Set a reminder or use a sunscreen app to help you keep track of the time and make reapplication a habit.
6.2 Tips for Reapplying Sunscreen without Disturbing Makeup
Reapplying sunscreen doesn't have to mean sacrificing your flawless makeup. Look for sunscreen mist or spray formulations that allow for easy application without disturbing your makeup. Simply hold the bottle about six inches away from your face and lightly mist over your makeup. Alternatively, you can use a brush-on sunscreen powder for touch-ups throughout the day. It's a convenient way to stay protected without messing up your makeup masterpiece.
7. Additional Sun Protection Measures for Dark Skin
7.1 Protective Clothing and Accessories
While sunscreen is essential, it's not the only line of defense against the sun's harmful rays. Darker-skinned individuals can benefit from wearing protective clothing and accessories that shield the skin from direct sun exposure. Opt for lightweight, long-sleeved shirts, pants, and wide-brimmed hats. Don't forget to protect your eyes with sunglasses that provide 100% UV protection.
7.2 Seeking Shade and Timing Outdoor Activities
Another smart strategy is to seek shade during peak sun hours, usually between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. If possible, schedule outdoor activities for early morning or late afternoon when the sun's rays are less intense. This will help minimize direct exposure to the sun and reduce the risk of sunburn or skin damage.
8. Common Mistakes to Avoid When Applying Sunscreen on Dark Skin
When it comes to applying sunscreen on dark skin, some mistakes are more common than others. Avoid these pitfalls to ensure proper sun protection: - Not applying enough sunscreen: Dark skin can give a false sense of security, but it still needs adequate protection. Don't skimp on the amount of sunscreen you use. - Neglecting to reapply: Regardless of skin tone, sunscreen effectiveness diminishes over time. Reapply every two hours or as directed on the product label. - Ignoring commonly missed areas: Pay attention to often overlooked areas, such as the ears, lips, hairline, and the back of the neck. - Using expired sunscreen: Check the expiration date on your sunscreen, as expired products may lose their effectiveness. - Relying solely on sunscreen: Remember that sunscreen is just one part of a comprehensive sun protection strategy. Use it in conjunction with other protective measures, such as seeking shade and wearing protective clothing. By following these practical tips and avoiding common mistakes, you can protect your dark skin from the sun's harmful rays and enjoy the outdoors with confidence. Stay sun-safe and rock that radiant skin!
By following these practical tips and techniques for applying sunscreen effectively on dark skin, you can ensure that your skin is adequately protected from the damaging effects of the sun. Remember, sun protection is not a one-time task but an ongoing practice. By incorporating these strategies into your daily routine and being consistent with sunscreen application, you can enjoy the outdoors while keeping your skin healthy and radiant for years to come.

FAQ
1. Is sunscreen necessary for dark skin?
Yes, sunscreen is necessary for dark skin. While dark skin does offer some natural protection against the sun due to higher melanin levels, it is still susceptible to sun damage, skin cancer, and premature aging. Applying sunscreen helps to enhance the skin's defense against harmful UV rays and maintain overall skin health.
2. How do I choose the right sunscreen for dark skin?
When choosing sunscreen for dark skin, opt for broad-spectrum sunscreens with an SPF of 30 or higher. Look for sunscreens that are specifically formulated for diverse skin tones or those that are transparent and do not leave a white cast on the skin. Additionally, consider lightweight and non-greasy formulas that are easily absorbed to avoid any residue or discomfort.
3. How often should I reapply sunscreen on dark skin?
It is recommended to reapply sunscreen every two hours, or more frequently if you are sweating heavily or engaging in water activities. Even if you are using a water-resistant sunscreen, it is crucial to reapply after toweling off or excessive perspiration to ensure continuous protection.
4. Can I rely on sunscreen alone for sun protection on dark skin?
No, sunscreen should not be the sole method of sun protection. While sunscreen is an essential part of sun protection, it is important to complement it with other measures. Seek shade during peak sun hours, wear protective clothing, such as hats and sunglasses, and consider using umbrellas or sun shelters. This multi-faceted approach will help provide comprehensive protection for your skin.

How should hard gel be applied on natural nails?
Are you interested in learning how to apply hard gel on natural nails? If so, you've come to the correct place. We'll discuss the tools you'll need and the procedures to follow when applying hard gel overlays and extensions.
ESSENTIAL ITEMS FOR APPLYING HARD GEL ON NATURAL NAILS
You'll need a few additional items in addition to hard gel to complete the nail augmentation. Following the list comes a more thorough explanation:
A nail drill or file. A nail brush and a cleaning wipe to clear away dirt. Nail pusher. Dehydrating cleanser or a dehydrator. Primer and a protein link. If it doesn't come with a brush, use a nail art brush to apply the hard gel (see below). Forms (used to complete expansions). Hammer lamp.
You only require those basic equipment to apply firm gel on natural nails. We offer a few recommendations for goods that will do the job correctly:
Protein Bond & Primer by Lavis
We appreciate this soft and strong protein connection and primer. For better adherence and to reduce nail oil, brush on two layers. For a professional manicure, this priming is an essential step.
You might also want to try out the Valentino Super Bond Primer and Valentino Nail Prep Dehydrator. While the primer is acid-free and suitable for use with acrylics and gels, the dehydrator removes moisture and grease.
Another acid-free primer that works with gels, acrylics, and no polishes is Mia Secret Xtrabond.
In terms of the ideal hard gel to utilize, we suggest the following:
Bare Necessities Collection Lavis Builder Gel, Version 1.
With this building gel, you won't need a nail art brush because one is already included in the bottle. The easy-to-apply silky solution is extremely smooth. It is not only odorless, but it also won't harm natural nails. To achieve the ideal look, select from a choice of colors.
IBD HARD GEL is extremely popular with nail artists. Get the right kind of gel for the task you want to accomplish by making sure. IBD comes in a variety of variants, some of which are suitable for overlays and others for extensions. Additionally, transparent or neutral formulations are offered.
Finally, you'll require a method for curing the gel. The majority of brands are compatible with LED nail lamps, which use less energy and cure quickly.
UV/LED nail lamp from Lavis
This strong nail lamp with a rechargeable battery is fantastic. For various types of gel preparations, it includes four timed options. The light may also be turned on without smudging your manicure thanks to a motion sensor.
The interior of the hand-sized mirror finish cures from every aspect for consistent quality.
HOW IS HARD GEL APPLIED?
Now that you have everything you require, let's begin by going through how to apply hard gel to natural nails.
STEP 1: SET UP
Before using hard gel, it is essential to perform thorough nail preparation. Push back the cuticles and shape the nails first. Using a nail drill will make this process go more quickly.
After that, clean the shine from the nail plate to prepare it. Clean the nails and remove any debris.
Next, either use a dehydrating wipe or apply a dehydrator.
SECOND: PRIMARY
Add a protein primer or bond after that. By the time you've finished both hands, it will have air dried, allowing you to go back and give each nail a second layer.
Step 3: Apply the base Coat the gel using a brush. Make sure you didn't apply it over your skin by checking twice. then use the nail lamp to cure it.
PHASE IV: HARD GEL
Just smoothly draw out the product rather than bunny-hopping and bunching the hard gel like you would with an acrylic bead. Gravity will assist the gel in flowing into the proper C-shape on top of the nail if you turn the hand upside down. In a few seconds, builder gel levels out and settles.
Only allow the hard gel to cure for 30 seconds if you're doing extensions before removing the mold. Recurringly cure. Because the gel requires UV light to dry, the mold may block the rays, leaving the gel partially uncured. Light can enter if the mold is removed.
Tumblr media
GEL POLISH AND TOP COAT IN STEP 5
You might require a cleaning wipe with rubbing alcohol to get rid of stickiness, depending on the brand of hard gel. The standard top coat and colored gel polish can then be used.
How Long Does a Hard Gel Manicure Take?
Usually, it takes an hour or two, especially if you're doing strong gel extensions.
What Errors Happen Most Frequently When Hard Gel Is Applied?
Preparation is essential in life, just like everything else. If you want to stop the firm gel from lifting, be sure to press back your cuticles and use primer.
How Can Hard Gel Be Removed From Natural Nails?
Hard gel is resistant to acetone. It is advisable to have a professional remove hard gels using a nail drill. You might be able to do it yourself with a hand file if there isn't any other choice. It won't be simple, though, and it will take a while. The majority of the gel must be scraped off before soaking in acetone to remove the remaining portions.
Because it doesn't pass through your natural nails and into your body, the hard gel won't injure them. Because of this, it's typical to fill in the gel where it has grown out and leave the nails with a barrier. You can just dissolve the top layer of gel polish to remove the manicure without doing the whole thing.
CONCLUSION
Fragile nails can be strengthened and made to look lovely with hard gel. It is simple to switch up your manicure without removing it because it is acetone-resistant. This flexible tool is ideal for extensions and overlays. We hope that our advice was useful in teaching you how to apply hard gel on natural nails. What Order Should I Follow for My Skin Care Routine?
Whether you want a simple 3-step routine for the morning or have time for a full 10-step regimen at night, the order in which you apply your products matters.
Why? There isn’t much point in having a skincare routine if your products don’t get a chance to penetrate your skin.
QUICK GUIDE
Tumblr media
What should I use in the morning?
Morning skin care routines are all about prevention and protection. Your face is going to be exposed to the outside environment, so the necessary steps include moisturizer and sunscreen.
Tumblr media
Step 1: Oil-based cleanser
What is it?  Cleansers come in two forms: water-based and oil-based. The latter is intended to dissolve oils produced by your skin. How to use it: Some oil-based cleansers are designed to work their magic on wet skin. Others are best on dry skin. Read the instructions before applying a small amount to your skin. Massage in and rinse thoroughly with water before drying with a clean towel.
Step 2: Water-based cleanser
What is it?  These cleansers primarily contain surfactants, which are ingredients that allow water to rinse away dirt and sweat. They can also remove the oils collected by an oil-based cleanser. How to use it: Massage into wet skin and rinse with water before drying.
Step 3: Toner or astringent
What is it?  Toners are designed to replenish skin through hydration and remove dead cells and dirt left behind after cleansing. An astringent is an alcohol-based product used to remove excess oil. How to use it: Straight after cleansing, either tap directly onto the skin or onto a cotton pad and swipe over the face in an outward motion.
Step 4: Antioxidant serum
What is it?  Serums contain a high concentration of certain ingredients. An antioxidant-based serum will protect skin against damage caused by unstable molecules known as free radicals. Vitamins C and E are common antioxidants used to improve texture and firmness. Others to look out for include green tea, resveratrol, and caffeine. How to use it: Pat a few drops onto your face and neck.
Step 5: Spot treatment
What is it?  If you have a blemish with a head, first look for an anti-inflammatory product to remove it, then turn to a spot-drying treatment to clear up the rest. Anything under the skin is classified as a cyst and will require a product that targets the infection on the inside. How to use it: Use a damp cotton swab to remove any skin care products from the spot. Apply a small amount of the treatment and leave to dry.
Step 6: Eye cream
What is it?  The skin around your eyes tends to be thinner and more sensitive. It’s also prone to signs of aging, including fine lines, puffiness, and darkness. A good eye cream can brighten, smooth, and firm up the area, but it won’t completely eliminate issues. How to use it: Dab a small amount onto the eye area using your ring finger.
Step 7: Lighter face oil
What is it?  The lighter the product, the earlier you should apply it. Easily absorbable oils are lightweight and should therefore come before moisturizer. They’re especially useful if your skin’s showing signs of dryness, flakiness, or dehydration. How to use it: Squeeze a few drops onto your fingertips. Rub them together gently to warm the oil before lightly dabbing onto your face.
Step 8: Moisturizer
What is it?  A moisturizer will soothe and soften skin. If you have a dry skin type, opt for a cream or balm. Thicker creams work best on normal or combination skin, and fluids and gels are recommended for oilier types. Effective ingredients include glycerine, ceramides, antioxidants, and peptides. How to use it: Take a slightly bigger than pea-sized amount and warm it in your hands. Apply to the cheeks first, then to the rest of the face using upward strokes.
Step 9: Heavier face oil
What is it?  Oils that take some time to absorb or simply feel thick fall into the heavy category. Best suited for dry skin types, these should be applied after moisturizer to seal in all the goodness. How to use it: Follow the same process as the lighter oil.
Step 10: Sunscreen
What is it?  Sunscreen is a critical final step in your morning skin care routine. Not only can it lower your risk of skin cancer, but it can also reduce signs of aging by blocking damaging UV light. The American Cancer SocietyTrusted Source recommends choosing a broad spectrum sunblock rated SPF 30 or higher that protects against UVA and UVB light. How to use it: Spread liberally over your face and massage in. Make sure to apply it 15 to 30 minutes before you go outside. Never apply skin care products on top, as this can dilute the sunscreen.
Step 11: Foundation or other base makeup
What is it?  If you want to wear makeup, a base layer will give you a smooth, even complexion. Opt for foundation — which comes in a cream, liquid, or powder form — or a lightweight tinted moisturizer or BB cream. How to use it: Use a brush or sponge to apply makeup. Start at the center of the face and blend outward. To seamlessly blend the edges, use a damp sponge.
What should I use at night?
Focus on repairing the damage done during the day with thicker products at night. This is also the time to use anything that makes skin sensitive to sunlight, including physical exfoliants and chemical peels.
Tumblr media
Step 1: Oil-based makeup remover
What is it?  As well as dissolving the natural oils produced by your skin, an oil-based cleanser can break down oily ingredients found in makeup. How to use it: Follow the specific product instructions. They may advise you to apply the makeup remover on wet or dry skin. Once applied, massage in until skin is clean, then rinse with water.
Step 2: Water-based cleanser
What is it?  Water-based cleansers react with makeup and dirt on the skin in a way that allows everything to be rinsed away with water. How to use it: Follow the instructions. Usually, you’ll apply it to wet skin, massage in, and rinse off.
Step 3: Exfoliator or clay mask
What is it?  Exfoliation removes dead skin cells while clearing pores. Clay masks work to unclog pores, but can also absorb excess oil. These masks are best applied at night to remove leftover dirt and help the skin soak up other products. How to use it: Exfoliators have different application methods, so follow product instructions. For clay masks, once or twice per week, apply the mask all over or to specific problem areas. Leave on for the recommended time, then rinse with warm water and pat dry.
Step 4: Hydrating mist or toner
What is it?  A hydrating mist or toner marks the end of your nighttime cleansing routine. DermNet NZ says you should look out for humectant ingredients — lactic acid, hyaluronic acid, and glycerine — to really give skin a moisture boost. How to use it: Spritz mists over your face. For toners, apply the product to a cotton pad and swipe over the skin.
Step 5: Acid treatment
What is it?  Dousing your face in acid may sound scary, but this skin care treatment can encourage cell turnover. Beginners may want to try glycolic acid. Other options include acne-busting salicylic acid and moisturizing hyaluronic acid. Over time, you should notice a brighter and more even complexion. How to use it: Start once per week with the goal of using every night. Do a patch test at least 24 hours before first use. Add a few drops of the solution to a cotton pad and sweep across the face. Make sure to avoid the eye area.
Step 6: Serums and essences
What is it?  Serums deliver powerful ingredients directly to the skin. An essence is simply a watered-down version. Vitamin E is great for dry skin, while antioxidants like green tea extract can be used on dull complexions. If you’re prone to breakouts, try retinol or vitamin C. How to use it: Carry out a patch test 24 hours before using a new serum or essence. If skin looks good, dispense the product into your hand and press into your skin. You can layer multiple products. Just apply water-based ones before oil-based and wait around 30 seconds between each.
Step 7: Spot treatment
What is it?  Anti-inflammatory products are for blemishes with a head. Follow with a spot-drying treatment. Ones that dry visibly are great for nighttime use. How to use it: Make sure skin is clean. Apply a small amount of product and leave to dry. Skip this treatment if you're spot free.
Step 8: Hydrating serum or mask
What is it?  Some products can clog pores, but hydrating serums aren’t one of them. With the ability to pack a real moisture punch, they’re wonderful for dry skin. How to use it: These powerful hydrators can come in various forms. Some are serums. Others are thicker masks. And some are even designed to be left on overnight. If this is the case, apply it at the end of your routine. Just follow the instructions on the pack and you’re good to go.
Step 9: Eye cream
What is it?  A richer nighttime eye cream can help improve appearance-related issues, like tiredness and fine lines. Look for a high concentration of peptides and antioxidants. How to use it: Apply a small amount of cream to the eye area and dab in.
Step 10: Face oil
What is it?  A nighttime oil is great for dry or dehydrated skin. The evening is the best time to apply thicker oils that may result in an unwanted shiny complexion. How to use it: Pat a few drops into the skin. Make sure no other product is applied on top for the best results.
Step 11: Night cream or sleep mask
What is it?  Night creams are a totally optional last step, but they can be worthwhile. While day creams are designed to protect the skin, these rich moisturizers help cell repair. Sleep masks, on the other hand, seal in all your other products and contain hydrating ingredients mild enough to be kept on overnight. How to use it: Warm a small amount of product in your hands before distributing it evenly across your face.
Frequently asked questions
What routine should I follow for dry skin?
If your skin is dry, focus your routine on hydration and building a healthy skin barrier. Follow the steps above but swap out products that may be too harsh or acidic for those that add moisture to your skin and help it retain that moisture.
What is a basic skin care routine?
A basic skincare routine has fewer steps than an expanded one but keeps your skin clean and healthy. The steps can depend on your needs and the amount of time you have. Usually, a basic routine includes removing makeup, cleansing your face, applying a spot treatment for any blemishes, using sunblock during the day, and putting on moisturizer.
At what age should you start a skincare routine?
It’s never too early — or late — to start a skin care routine. Even kids can practice taking care of their skin by washing their faces when they wake up and before bed and applying sunscreen during the day.
But, choose the steps and specific products in your routine for your skin concerns and age. Adolescents, for example, may need a routine built on products to help manage blemishes and oily skin. Adults may focus more on products that support their skin as it ages. Build a routine that’s right for you.
The bottom line
Not everyone loves a 10-step routine, so don’t feel pressured to include every step in the above lists.
For many people, a good rule of thumb is to apply products thinnest to thickest — for however many products that may be — as they move through their skin care routines.
The most important thing is finding a skincare routine that works for you and that you’ll follow. Whether that involves the whole shebang or a simplified ritual, have fun experimenting.

How to get rid of acne?
Introduction
Acne is a common skin condition that causes pimples and blemishes. If you have acne, it can be hard to get rid of. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to help treat your acne without resorting to harsh chemicals or treatments that might cause other side effects. Nowadays various anti-acne kits are available in the market. Here's how:
Cleanse twice a day
The first step to getting rid of acne is cleansing your face twice a day. Use a mild cleanser and follow these tips:
Choose a non-harsh cleanser that contains salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.
Make sure you wash your face thoroughly with lukewarm water, then dry off completely before applying moisturizer or makeup on top of it. This can prevent breakouts from happening when you reapply products later on down the road!
Exfoliate once a week to unclog pores
Exfoliating is an essential step in clearing your skin. You can use a scrub with salicylic acid or glycolic acid to help clear up acne, as well as microbeads, sea salt, and sugar. Jojoba beads are also great for exfoliation because they contain anti-aging properties that moisturize your skin as well as unclog pores.
Wear sunscreen every day
Sunscreen is a must for anyone who wants to get rid of acne, but it's especially important if you have oily skin or are prone to breakouts. The best way to keep your face clear of scars is by applying an SPF 30+ broad-spectrum sunscreen with an anti-aging formula every morning before leaving the house—and then reapplying throughout the day if necessary! Don't forget: You should also protect your ears, neck, and hands as well (just like normal!).
Use products with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide
Salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide are both beta hydroxy acids, which means they can help reduce the production of oil and inflammation on your skin. In addition to this, salicylic acid is also an antibacterial agent that kills bacteria that cause acne.
Both these products are available over-the-counter in many drugstores and supermarkets in different forms such as creams or lotions. However, it's important to note that you shouldn't apply them directly on your face since they may cause skin irritation as well as sun sensitivity (not cool). Try using them at night time before going out looking fresh! Always use the best acne scar removals products for treating acne and natural products give effective results within less time.
Don't sleep in your makeup.
If you have acne-prone skin, it's a good idea to avoid sleeping with all of your makeup on at once. You may be tempted to do so because it feels nice and clean, but if you don't use a good night moisturizer, the oils can clog up pores and irritate your face even more. Also: don't go out without washing your face first!
Use oil-free makeup and skin care products
You can use oil-free makeup and skin care products to help you get rid of acne. Oil may clog pores, causing them to become infected. This will make your acne worse because bacteria are more likely to grow in clogged pores.
Oil also causes breakouts by making the skin's surface look uneven, which triggers oil glands on the skin's surface that then produce more sebum (the natural oil found in human hair follicles). This extra sebum may flow out onto the face, causing pimples or blackheads.
Cleansing is the most important thing you can do to combat acne.
Cleansing is the most important thing you can do to combat acne. When you cleanse, it removes excess oil and dirt that can clog pores and cause breakouts. But don't worry: there are no harsh chemicals in cleansers like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid—they're just made to soothe sensitive skin.
Cleansing twice a day is crucial for fighting blemishes; make sure to wash your face in the morning (unless you have oily skin) and at night before bedtime.
Conclusion
We hope that you found this article helpful. Acne can be a very serious condition, but you can take steps to get rid of it by cleansing and exfoliating regularly, applying salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide products twice a day, wearing sunblock every day, and using oil-free makeup.
