The realisation that only you are keeping yourself stuck in your private hell should serve as enough impetus for you to let go. It all comes to you making the decision and following through, recognising that not removing the splinters is preventing you from living wholeheartedly and robbing you of future joys. Removing the splinters of hurt is akin to liberating yourself from the mental cage of endless looping pain, long after the event. So, decide to do what is good for you by allowing healing to occur.
