Iron Man never fought the Cobalt Man, did he? Missed opportunity. They seem like natural foes. Also, what's with the 60s fear of cobalt. It's in all these stories. Was it radioactive or something? (X-Men #31):

Defenders #42 (Conway/Giffen, Dec 1976). Okay, they do make an effort to reconcile this with Hulk… Strange complains that the team is tired after fighting him. But the absence of Red Guardian and the reappearance of Valkyrie’s old armor suggest this was a hasty backfill adapted to meet this month’s deadline.

Marvel Worlds project plan: Armored Adventures (volume 1)
Synopsis:
Marcus Stark is a rather underwhelming Stark compared to his father Arno or his uncle Tony Stark, A.K.A. Iron Man. He and his girlfriend, Mary Jane Watson, investigate some strange goings on while Iron Man battles Cobalt Man.
Characters:
Marcus Stark - The son of Arno Stark. He is not as smart as his father, but he is a fast learner. He has stolen the Iron Man armor a dozen times, proving he can pilot it.
Mary Jane Watson - The ex-girlfriend of Spider-Man and current girlfriend of Marcus Stark. She is the personal assistant to Tony Stark.
Anthony "Tony" Stark/Iron Man - The C.E.O. of Stark Unlimited and a founding member of the Avengers. He spends a lot of time as his Iron Man persona.
Arno Stark/Invincible Iron Man - The father of Marcus Stark and brother of Tony Stark. He is also the chief operating officer. While Tony is adventuring as Iron Man, he acts as head of Stark Unlimited.
Ralph Roberts/Cobalt Man - A former acquaintance of Tony Stark who built his own version of the Iron Man armor, but it is very flawed and lethal.
Quinton Nathans - The eccentric young head of research at AccuTech.
Other Information:
Ralph Roberts's story is inspired by Darkhold: Iron Man.
This series is named after the Iron Man: Armored Adventures animated series, which Adrian Petriw starred in.
The series is not called "Iron Man" in case a story about Tony is made.
Marcus's personal Iron Man armor will be used since I figured out how to get his black glass visor to work.

X-Men 31 (April 1967)
Roy Thomas/Werner Roth
We're back after...whatever that was last week. If last week had too much going on, this issue runs in the opposite direction, with a villain so throwaway and uninteresting that the main cover splash advertises how this is mostly just an issue about the gang going about their daily lives. Which, to be fair, is the kind of stuff I really enjoy.
Tumblr media
Anyway the baddie this issue is Cobalt Man. Seriously. For a few issues they've been teasing about how Jean's friend/maybe-potential-boyfriend Ted at her college is obsessed with beating his ultra-competitive older brother at stuff. Here the older brother, Ralph, finally shows up, delivering the iconic line "get me a pair of trunks and I'll teach you to respect your elders, sonny boy".
Tumblr media
Normal stuff. He then sustains a head injury while pole-vaulting that leads him to become obsessed with defeating Iron Man: he builds an Iron Man suit out of Cobalt, but sees the error of his ways at the end of this issue. Why isn't this an Iron Man story? Well, since you ask, Tony Stark had a date.
Tumblr media
Anyway, because this is such a thin story - hoo boy is it a thin story - there is indeed much more time for personal life stuff, like my beloved beatnik cafe...
Tumblr media
...and an even more happening nightspot that Warren ends up at.
Tumblr media
I unironically love all this stuff and would read an entire issue of it, but of course fucking Cobalt Man shows up to waste the last eight pages fighting. Yawn.

I think everyone in the world should have AT LEAST one Tezuka character to be autistic about. Stop assigning genders at birth assign Star System characters instead

Various doodles of my Oz characters (and Pilripat) and @hah-studios's Wonderland of Oz characters cause the comic is a delight and the plot bunnies be gremlins haha
Enjoy!

i think the funniest thing about Dredge is that they gave it the option to step into a locker. like.. you can just walk up to one and step inside, no teleport needed.
there is no moment i can perceive where this would ever be useful to use during actual gameplay. it is so silly and redundant with the rest of it's kit. and yet they gave it to dredge anyways. 'cause like.. of course you would, even if it's pointless, right?
but man, i am glad they did, 'cause it let's you do some funny bits xD

Why is Cobalt so scary to 60s audiences? The Cobalt Man, a Thor comic once featured a cobalt bomb, DaredeviI's deaths head saga involved cobalt, etc. Is cobalt dangerous or something? I feel like I'm missing something.
