Part 2: Community Review

10. Favorite Tumblr Moments of 2022: I have a few! Tickletober, Squealing Santa, the Candy Hearts Event, and being able to collab with some good friends!

11. Favorite fan art of this year: Really anything Ghost makes, but by far the Phone Chaos we did as an impromptu collab! Check them out, Ghost is incredibly talented!

12. Favorite fic of this year: Oo, another tough one! I’ve read so many great fics here in the community, so narrowing it down to just one is hard. I’m gonna list these three: Shivering With Anticipation, Wizard’s Prize, CollegeAU!Suga valentine treat

13. Favorite ask game of this year: The Cliff/SetOnFire/Marry/Kiss/Roommate game. :D

14. My Top Achievements as a writer/artist/creator/blogger: Oo, this is tough! I’d say reaching over 1k followers! Y’all are absolutely amazing, so thank you for that! :)

15. My own best fic/post of the year: Notes wise, it’s definitely my Arven dabble! For personal best, I’d say “Keep It A Secret?” I’m really proud of how that one came out :)

16. My most underappreciated fic/post of this year: I don’t think I have one that’s necessarily “underappreciated”; even if one person liked it I take that as a win :) If I had to pick, I’d say “Tao Restoration”  Granted the fandom is fairly niche right now. Who knows, that might change next year? :3

17: A post of mine that got more popularity than expected: I’m actually gonna use one from my side blog. I made this as a joke, and now it has 208 notes akjrkearjkejkrj So thanks y’all! :D

18: Something I changed on my blog this year: I definitely want to reblog more works next year, along with trying to write more personal fics to mix in with all the requests. Also, I’m learning to be a bit more protective of my space and peace of mind through curating my experiences and blocking.

Part 3: Next Year

19. Something I didn’t post this year but would like to do next year: I have a Blue Lock fic I’ve written that’s...okay at best. I’m not super proud of it, but I think the longer I’m in the series the more I’ll grow an understanding to the characters and how they are.

20: Goals For Next Year: Make more personal fics, alongside dive into some new genres like angst and such. Also; this isn’t so much a goal but an idea, try new themes out :D I’m thinking of making my blog’s theme change with the seasons- a new character and color for every part of the year.

21: 2023 releases I look forward to the most: Hell’s Paradise the anime, more Blue Lock, I think there’s a Black Clover movie coming out? Oh, and the Swordsmith arc for Demon Slayer! :D

A Dream You Hold Dear

Warning! This post contained major spoilers for Collar x Malice. Proceed with caution!

“Look! It’s snowing!”

Ichika exclaimed excitedly, her face painted with a child-like joy as she stared at the view. Saeki chuckled in his throat, taking another sip of cheap beer in his hand. 

True to her word, it was snowing outside. It was nothing harsh, but not ideal to walk around if it had gone harder. The bar they're in was doing a decent job at keeping them warm without any jacket — for now.

“Yes, yes. It is snowing.”

“Let’s cheers!”

She raised her can to salute with his, and he complied.

“But to what, exactly?”

“Hmmmmmm…” She pondered, her face flushed red with alcohol she consumed (now that he thought about it, it was surprising he didn't get drunk like he usually did). “To white Christmas?”

“To white Christmas.”

He took another sip. Although it was no white Christmas at all, she didn’t seem to care (it’s 27th December).

"We should go home."

"I don't wanna!" She whined. "Kazuki's not home anyway."

"If the snow continues we won't be able to reach our homes tonight. Do you want to stay overnight here? Not that I mind though."

She hiccuped, and for a second he thought she would burst into tears - she could be quite emotional when she's drunk.

"Fine." She went silent, before speaking up again. "But at your house."

He blinked. "What?"

"I will be staying at your house! No one's at mine and yours is nearer!"

Saeki shook his head in disbelief. But reluctantly brought himself (and her too) out of the bar.

"Why did you drink so much today?" He asked. "It's usually you that keep me in check and not the other way around."

She glanced at him and took another wobbly step forward — almost falling face-flat to the ground.

"It's cold..."

"You are not answering my question."

"It's just..." Ichika sighed. "The year passed by so quickly I can't believe it. Can't help but indulge me in..."

After that followed incoherent murmurs, and they walked in silence.

It was a good idea to leave when they did. A second too late and they'd be left stranded outside in a cold snowstorm of December without any jacket or sweater.

“Say, Hoshino.” He trailed after settled down in his apartment room. “What is your new year resolution?”

“You sound like a grandpa, Saeki.” She laughed, opening up another can of beer (which he might add it's from his fridge). “Probably to continue being police like this? Oh, and talk with Kazuki more, too.”

He nodded, her relationship with her brother wasn’t so good as he recalled.

“What about you?”

She asked him back, it was sudden he couldn’t come up with the respond right on the spot. Not unpredictable, but still sudden.

To execute the X Day.

“To keep discussing about justice with you like this.”

Maybe it was alcohol, maybe it’s because she was staring at him so intently he answered so.

“Really?” Ichika giggled. “I’m really glad, you know.”

Her giggling filled the room before it died down as fast as it came. She hugged her knees, an empty can of beer left lying on the floor.

“Hey, Saeki…” Her eyelids droop, and her voice became barely above a whisper. “I wonder…how far would you go…to protect…justice….”

And just like that, she fell to sleep.

Saeki looked at her and sighed. Even though they were dear friends to each other since school and they knew for a fact that they would never think of each other as the opposite sex. But he was still a man and she a woman. Hoshino Ichika was too careless for her own good.

He tossed a can of beer in his hand aside and carried her body up. Positioned her so she wouldn’t be uncomfortable when she woke up later, he placed a blanket to keep her warm. 

“You are too careless…” He mumbled under his breath. “What if someone takes advantage of you in your sleep like this…?”

One time

Two times

Three times

He pressed his lips to her temple. Soft and lulling and light. An Angel came to save humanity.

But he was no angel, although he would save humanity. Malice so great it will erase any other malice away.

And then…she would be the one who ends it all.

He enjoyed all of their time together. All those heated discussions of justice over drinks. All those training sessions where she showed she wouldn't hesitate when the push comes to shove — that her aim would be for justice.

Saeki heaved a sigh once more. He traced his thumb along her neck absent-mindedly

4 months

4 months left until the first step of the X Day. And he wouldn't let anyone hinder his way.

Until then...

He bent down to give another kiss to her forehead.

He could only hope that her aim wouldn't have wavered.

Hello, there~ @roastedlizlow I’m your secret Santa! So first off I’m painfully aware that this is not quite a prompt you ask for which I am very sincerely sorry about that...but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless! Merry Christmas!❤️💚❤️💚

A/N; Mistletoe prompt cliché, sue me. This is set after Mineo’s route timeline but not really since I cut the canon Christmas event out. Just that Adonis disappeared and Saeki got hurt. And no, they aren’t a couple (yet.)

Please do know that this is my first time participating in Secret Santa…or in writing Mineo at all so if there’s a mistake or a room for criticism, do inform me and I’ll get into it as soon as I can!

Summary; Mineo tried to kiss Ichika under the mistletoe.

Three times, three times Mineo tried to kiss Ichika under the mistletoe.

The first time was after Adonis Incident was dying down. Although they both realized their feelings already, the word ‘partner’ was still why they hadn't confessed just yet.

Mineo glanced at Ichika who was walking beside him nervously (even though he's acting like he wasn't, which failed.) Excitement bubbled up in his chest as well as worry and uneasiness feeling. He planned to ask her out today but being a nervous wreck he was, he's afraid he's going to mess up his plan so bad.

"What is it, Enomoto? You've been looking at me for a while."

"Oh nononononono, it's nothing! Nothing suspicious here."

"If you say so..."

Ichika eyed him briefly before turned attention back to the road.

When they arrived at Ichika’s apartment and she’s going to say farewell, he panicked.

‘Ohshootohshootohshootohshootohshoot—! What do I do?! Do I just ask her bluntly or—argh!’

Then he noticed it, a little mistletoe hanging on the tree above their heads. 

“Hoshino”

“Hm? What is it—”

Ichika stopped whatever she was going to say when she saw Mineo drawing his face closer. She snapped her eyes shut tightly, her heart pounding against her ribcages. Their face getting closer and closer…

…until Mineo crashed his nose into hers.

“Ow!”

“Woah—! A—are you alright Hoshino?!”

Now he’s panicking even more. (God helps him…)

“Oh god, I’m sorry! I—Ijustdon’tknowwhattodo’causeIwanttoconfesstoyouthatIloveyouand—”

He clasped his mouth when he realized what he just said, his cheeks bright red. Ichika went silent, then a blush crept on her face as well.

“…”

“…”

“…”

“So…are we a thing now?” 

Ichika answered him by an “I guess we’re a couple now” and with a kiss on his cheek.

A couple, huh? It still sounded weird coming from his mouth, but a good kind of weird he supposed.

The second time was when he was walking around the town with Ichika...as he planned to give her a gift — an anniversary gift.

He still couldn’t believe that it’d been a year, a year that they were together. Yanagi insisted that he gave her something to remember by, even Okazaki volunteered to help. (And of course, Sasazuka didn’t care.)

It was exactly one year ago he asked her out, and it felt like just yesterday. Mineo picked up a silver necklace from his pocket and then turned to face her.

“Ichika��” He began with a serious tone, his hand shaking slightly. “It has been a year now since we’re together. Can you believe it? A year…it’s seem so unreal to me and yet here I am. The thing is…I—I want to give you…this…”

From the look on her face, he was glad he didn’t mess up this time.

“Ano…Mineo?”

Ichika murmured something before gestured slightly above them. He followed her gaze, and there hanging proudly from the streetlight were mistletoe decors. A lot of them. He’s blushing red and so was she. Of course, they two had kissed before! It just feels…different, kind of like a special moment of being together. 

His hands placed on her shoulder lightly and securely. He swallowed before getting his face closer and closer to her (this time he didn’t forget to tilt his head) until they could feel each other’s breath on their face…

“We wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year~!”

Both of them got startled by the sudden Christmas carol and was pulled away from the other. 

He mentally cursed the carols but when he saw Ichika giggling and smiling like that, he couldn’t really bring himself to be mad at anything and eventually joined her laughter.

And for the third time, it was when he’s going to propose to her.

Inside his chest, his heart was drumming like crazy, and inside a box in his palm was a diamond ring. He was sweating all over his body and was wondering if there’s a blush on his face already.

“Mineo, is something wrong?”

He jolted back slightly, startled by her words that suddenly entered his mind.

“N—no i—it’s nothing! I’m fine!”

“Mineo,” She let his hand go and staring at him directly into his eyes, completely clueless of what he was about to do. “There’s definitely something’s going on. Your hand is sweaty and it’s Christmas Day! You can’t just flat out lying like that…what’s wrong?”

Her voice dropped at the end making guilt ate his gut out. Mineo scratched the back of his neck nervously and then inhaled deeply.

“Ichika, listen,” He grabbed her hand and placed them against his lips (something he saw in the movie and thought it was romantic). “We are together for six years now…I know it’s a little too late to bring this up but…argh! This sounds a lot better in my head…”

“Mineo?”

“The thing is, all the times we’ve been together you thought me so many things in my life Ichika. From the Adonis incident, you taught me what’s a true sense of justice is…”

Along the way, they unravelled the truth of the X-Day. All the times she supported him until the end.

“…how to overcome your pain and sadness from the past…”

The death of his senior he’d taken the blame for, he learned to accept it because of her.

“…how it feels to love someone and to be loved in return…”

All those smiles, laughter, kisses and moments they shared. All of the ‘first’ they spent together.

Those brown orbs widened in shock. He dropped onto one knee, both hands holding a velvet box in front of him.

“Hoshino Ichika, will you give me the honour of being your husband? I’m not the most perfect man in the world but—”

“Of course!” She shouted, tears of joy streaming down her face with a big smile. “Of course I’ll marry you, Mineo! I love you!”

He flickered the box open and slipped a ring on her ring fingers. They both smiling with glee and leaning into a kiss, on Christmas Day. He didn’t know whether there’s a mistletoe hanging somewhere or not but he didn’t care. It doesn’t really matter now, does it? Not when he had her by his side, a promise of a family on his own.

Like the old saying; third times the charm after all.
