oop forgot to post Zane for today! We wanted to give him a more mysterious vibe and make him stand out from the rest of the group. -Teddy

Zane is pretty similar to his original counterpart, but with more emphasis on the consequence of being on your own with amnesia while separated from society. Due to this, he is much more naive at the beginning of the series and has difficulty adjusting to his new life with other people. However, that inexperience comes with curiosity, which becomes one of Zane's strengths as he can learn vasts amounts of information in a quick amount of time.

While he is not battle ready he does have a few advantages over his teammates. He's able to move quietly and nimbly. Furthermore, he's the only one of the group who discovered his powers without Wu's intervention and can use his ice with precision.

Despite the mystery surrounding the ice ninja, he's very friendly, if only grossly unprepared to deal with the shenanigans of his team. Hopefully they'll have patience for his unending inquires and difficulty to understand the others.

star wars ficlet

Since I’ve been losing the battle with writer’s block lately, here’s a random 300-word ficlet I dug out of my WIPs from several months ago:

The Force aided its users in precision and coordination, skills of the utmost importance when one's hands held a humming lightsaber at a critical moment. The hands of the younglings of Kybuck clan, however, clutched not weapons, but colorsticks, as they eagerly honed their skills by drawing circles on pieces of flimsi scattered across the table.

The sheet of flimsi held by Master Ali-Alann displayed several perfect circles, and the younglings eyed it jealously as they attempted to recreate the shapes on their own flimsi, with mixed success; the older children were more coordinated than their younger peers. Qui-Gon smiled at the scene. He remembered similar ‘training’ tasks from his own days in the crèche.

“I did it!” cheered one of the youngest children, proudly holding up a wobbly blue circle for Qui-Gon to admire.

“Well done, Obi-Wan.” Ali-Alann gave an approving nod from across the table, but the child's gaze remained fixed solely on Qui-Gon.

“Do you like it?” he asked, blue eyes brimming with hope and excitement.

“It's very impressive,” Qui-Gon told him.

The boy beamed. “Here you go,” he said, and pushed the flimsi into Qui-Gon’s hands, before turning back to the table and beginning a new drawing, this time with a green colorstick.

Tahl found the drawing sitting on Qui-Gon’s desk when she stopped by his quarters for a cup of tea later that afternoon. “What’s this? she asked, raising an amused eyebrow at the lone, lopsided circle in the center of the flimsi sheet.

“A gift from one of the Initiates,” Qui-Gon replied. “I had an errand to the crèche; one of the children gave it to me. I didn’t know how to decline.”

Tahl held it up to the light as if admiring a piece of distinguished artwork.

“You should frame it,” she decided.

More Ninjago Legends beta designs! We struggled a lot with Jay, wanted to make him look less plain and add some energy into his design, more akin to his frantic nature. We dont try to gravitate towards hoodies but I think this feels pretty Jay-ish. Reminds me of Battle Network ^^ -Teddy.

Jay in canon is often described as being a jokester of the group, and honestly, I never got that vibe from him. He often doesn't make jokes or quips, rather he's usually the butt of the joke himself. That, and his panicking is usually what the show goes for in terms of humor. I focused more on that panicky, frantic behavior in terms of his personality. He's slow to trust, anxious, and when he's not, he's usually a tired, sarcastic mess. Jay is kinda a straight man in that sense, commenting on the obvious going on around him and often complains about his more quirky teammates. Jay comes from a small town where in a place where everyone knows each other, Jay wasn't known very fondly amongst the townspeople. Bullied for his cowardice, his nerdy-ness, and lack of focus, he lived his life as a shut-in, playing video games and other things to escape from his day-to-day life. While his parents were sweet and supportive, they also enabled his behavior, as Jay quickly grew to realize he had no drive or motivation for anything. With the call of destiny, however, he wants to change his life and be somebody, but the rest of the group is more what he bargained for.

I hope this version of Jay is relatable and more down to Earth, since in our story concept, he's the first pair of eyes we see through in the story.

Hello, my friends,

How are you doing? Great, I hope. It’s been a month since I posted last, and what a month it has been! New job, new working hours, new colleagues and especially new stuff to learn 😬 it’s been a challenge (still is), but I like it and I’m slowly getting used to the rhythm, not to mention to making the most of my limited free time, artistically speaking. I’m feeling very creative, thanks to spring finally making itself known, not to mention many problems getting solved.
