Warden Antoine is so funny for being someone who will make a stirring declaration about how the Wardens have an opportunity to reach for a future in which they are dedicated to protecting and restoring and nurturing the life and landscapes lost to the Blight, that it is their duty and it will give them purpose as they reckon with the end of Archdemons, then immediately provide you with like three hundred pounds of explosives he personally developed from scratch so you can blow something up for him

can we talk more about avpd being a (proposed) schizospec disorder? because i almost never see that theory talked about but i wish it was. like…

avpd makes me censor my thoughts because i think someone might hear what i’m thinking and see what a horrible person i am on the inside or judge me for thinking embarrassing things.

avpd makes me so afraid of someone walking in on me doing something i Shouldn’t Be Doing that my brain twists background noise into the sounds of whispers and footsteps behind me.

avpd makes me so worried about people staring at me that in my peripheral vision, anyone near me looks like they’re already staring at me, and it’s only when i look at them directly that i realize they’ve been looking in a totally different direction the whole time.

avpd makes me so convinced of how much everyone must secretly hate me that i often start thinking everyone secretly wants to hurt me too, to the point where i’ve had panic attacks from a person walking too close behind me because i feel like they’re getting ready to attack me (when i haven’t had any kind of trauma that would create that fear), and the paranoia just serves to reinforce my need to avoid people.

avpd makes me lose my ability to speak or reduces it to nothing more than one word answers only when spoken to, turning the thoughts i wanted to express into a jumble that’s impossible to turn into words or just throwing them away completely and making my mind go blank, so i end up just staring at people silently or even acting like i don’t see them standing there at all (not on purpose but because my brain won’t let me engage with them).

avpd makes me look damn near emotionless around everyone but my safe person (and sometimes even around my safe person) because showing my emotions would be far too vulnerable for its liking, so it completely takes away my ability to express them.

and i could keep going! there are so many things i experience because of avpd that i’ve seen really closely reflected in the experiences of schizospec people. i don’t know how common these kinds of things are in avpd overall, but they’re a really prominent part of my experience with it, so when i found out that some research suggested it could be considered a schizospec disorder itself, that made so much sense to me! and i’d be so curious to see how many other avoidants have dealt with this stuff but haven’t talked about it because it’s never mentioned as being part of avpd.

"homura sees herself as inherently evil and abusive due to her upbringing, past actions, and status as a witch, which is still ongoing even at the end of rebellion" fresh, new, actually closer to canon, doesn't demonize a child for being mentally ill.

You always hide such good things in the tags to your meta 😭❤️ I really feel the part where Hans can’t stay as part of the nobility after what he’s been through. I honestly hope the game would give us a faking his own death (for historical accuracy) but living away from everything with Henry.

I talk about that a ton in my longer post about Hans' relationship with the nobility but it killssssss meeeeee the idea that there really is no going back for him. The disillusionment can never be undone. He's seen what it could be like and he wants it so badly he starts considering alternatives if only Henry so much as nudges him in that direction. And mind you, that's not a player choice! Henry does that all on his own. Because he knows Hans and he sees him for who he is and what he wants/needs. The things that Hans is so well-practiced at denying himself 🥲

OKUNI: "I haven't decided yet. Like I said, read through it, come back with questions. If a part sings to you, I'll consider it."

With that, she waved and wandered off to another part of the deck, leaving you to your own devices.

RICHARD: "I admit, I'm excited as well. Let's look through, shall we?"

You flipped through the script.

A few details you noticed simply by skimming.

Firstly, OKUNI had kept the names.

Augustina had been subtly re-written to be a scion of a noble house, and personal (and excessive) notes of her beauty courtesy of LUCIUS had been dulled down. Not as if the character wasn't beautiful, they just didn't talk about it as much.

Xavier is noted as being an amnesiac- a detail that you're not sure was new, but was either omitted or forgotten by LUCIUS until the presumed 'Act 3' that this is based off of.

The 'Divine Chalice' has also been re-named to be the 'Waning Moon'.

Scenes are cleverly contrived to have no more than four people on 'stage' at one moment. If it calls for extra, there's notes for puppetry, shadow play, or pre-recorded noises. The stage directions were also a lot clearer, and while they were very bombastic, they were a bit more comprehensible.

Regardless, the majority of the setup is the same. Impressively accurate, considering that OKUNI was working from Act III from context clues alone. Augustina and Xavier were participants in the Tournament for the Waning Moon, a magical artifact that would grant someone's greatest desire.

The tournament was a grand free-for-all, with 124 participants. If you were defeated, you perished. There were plenty willing to risk their lives for such a grant artifact.

A golden king capriciously lending his aid to a young freedom fighter. A giant deadly automaton, protecting a frail girl made of doll parts. A noble warrior blessed by the sun, serving a young prince of a grand kingdom. A draconic baroness and her servant, a vile maddened murderess. A greedy seafarer who served a young wizard who stank of seaweed and cowardice. A roguish bowman who allied himself with an aging noble knight.

…There were more, those were the notable ones. With the exception of one more.

A man named Secundus and a woman named Vulpa. A powerful pair of wizards that seemed to destroy anyone who they came across… a surefire victor for the tournament.

Their power and skill dwarfed that of the other participants, to the point where the other participants that came across them and survived seemed to grow suspicious about just who they were. The man, Secundus, used his immense magical power to summon forth a more powerful servant-- however something went wrong with the summoning spell, spelling disaster for Secundus and Vulpa.

With Secundus perishing, the woman, Vulpa, began to fade away- as the losers of the tournament were ought to do. Xavier, taking pity on Vulpa, took her hand and used his own magic to save her life.

Xavier: "Your lord did seek the heavens. And left you behind. Please, take my hand, fair mage, To join us and live." Augustina: "Is this truly a wise choice? She may stab our backs." Xavier: "Everyone deserves a chance." Augustina: "Your caring heart is lovely. I won't complain then." Vulpa: "My, such a charming hero. And handsome as well. Shall I call you my husband, While warming your bed?" Augustina: "I take back not complaining!"

This resulted in a bit of a bit of a love triangle. Lots of banter. A bit of infighting. Augustina, at this point, doesn't trust Vulpa in the slightest- especially because Vulpa refuses to share any details regarding her past. But still, they had to work as allies.

Augustina: "O' vixen so soft and fair. Bewitching mine lord. I believe you be a foe. Do you prove me wrong?" Vulpa: "Hah! What must I prove to you? Fool with flaxen hair. I care not for your thoughts, girl. Merely our Masters'."

Due to being a sub-par magician, Xavier was barely making it through even with two warriors- and yet he was still making progress. As the act reaches its close, Xavier and Augustina re-encounter the Blacksmith and the girl that accompanied him that had lent Augustina some proper battle attire. Learning that the girl's name was Frances, they have a brief connection…

Xavier: "You are familiar to me. Your face… a sister? If only my mind was whole, I long for it so." Frances: "I feel the same way. A brother perhaps? But still, Ugh, my head, my mind… My memories have faded…"

Before they can examine this any further, there's a rumble- a terrifying crash.

Narrator: "The heavens crack wide apart. A hand white as snow. And with it came a herald. Who proclaimed world's end."

...And that was the end of the act.

literacy, empathy and nuance are dead fucking arts and there really is no coming back from it.

ZUN's commentary on Koakuma's fortune slip seems to suggest that she may not actually be a demon, and instead perhaps some kind of... demon-themed magician or something?

So the somewhat popular headcanon of Koakuma being a succubus might be improbable.

He furthermore suggests that the nickname Koakuma might be derived from her personality. Helpfully, Koakuma or "little devil" is a term for a character archetype sufficiently widely-recognised to have a Pixiv Encyclopedia entry, which includes such details as (approximate translations):

"A bewitching person who toys with the hearts of others." "A person who uses cuteness, sexiness, and innuendo to draw in targets, then dances around their interest, teases them, and behaves in a sadist-esque manner to toy with their feelings." "In summary, a cat-like personality."

So the personality of fanon succubus Koakuma might be probable.

... This is basically the perfect opposite of what I would've expected from Koakuma getting a canon personality.

Whitepine Protective Services personnel, equipped with what they need to help mitigate Shadow infestations before they spread.

Scouts are assigned with searching reported infestation sites, or "hives", equipped with lights to help see where they're going, and dissuade any attacks. They then report back to their superiors any and all information on the location, and if it warrants it, the exterminators are brought in.

Equipped with a flamethrower, Exterminators are tasked with destroying the hive, burning the building down along with it in certain cases. However, these burnings are completely controlled, being supervised by the Whitepine Fire Department.

But YES!!!!!! Shadowheart speaking Elvish is 🥵 (even tho I have never heard it lol). I just know she would use it for evil (eg. Talking dirty to Tav in a more public setting and leaving her incredibly flustered and unable to function).

But also for good. Reconnecting with her heritage, getting closer to Arnell as he teaches her, getting to teach Tav with kisses as incentive….and ofc, getting to teach Baby Jen, her little mouse 🥹
